my sister lets her toddler have about an hour of screen time a week. two feelings I have about this are

1) there sure does seem to be something going on with kids and screens (although my bet is that TV is fine and games are mostly fine and social media is bad), so her approach seems possibly optimal

2) the long screaming rages my niece goes into when the mickey mouse video is taken away (which my sister takes as evidence of the frightening addictiveness of screens) during a boring meal with adults and no toys looks pretty much like how I'd feel if someone took my book away during a boring meal with adults

okayyy so im definitely not the most well versed with everything surrounding jkr, and im kinda just yelling into the void with this one, but I think its kinda funny how she's a radfem that often focuses on the men in her stories, reducing even the female characters with potential to love interests, shames women for fighting for justice (the whole S.P.E.W. thing was not it), uses the bigotry a woman faced from her best friend as a point in his tragic backstory, leans into stereotypes of girls being catty, dumb, and worthy of ridicule if they express romantic desire (Fleur Delacor and Lavender Brown), and gives many of her male characters some form of backstory to at least semi justify their actions, while women like Bellatrix Lestrange and Dolores Umbridge are just crazy evil bitches. idk just makes it feel like some of the shit she spouts on twitter is less about womens rights and more about her total aversion to trans people.

the craziest part of the 2006 broadway revival of company is that the cast is SWITCHING INSTRUMENTS. not only are they singing AND moving to choreography AND playing instruments, they are doing this for multiple instruments. the amy actress alone has to be able to play a french horn AND a trumpet (she's the soloist in "side by side") AND act AND sing "not getting married". what the fuck!!!

People keep comparing Nobody Wants This and Fleabag and like, on the surface, I get it. Priest, Rabbi, and chaotic girls that we love, okay.

However, as much as Noah and Joanne gave me the buzz and their angsty moment in the last episode hit, it can never ever hit as hard as fleabag.

Mainly because, in fleabag we get to see that the Hot Priest™️ loves his faith and his role in the church. It saved him from his family, it gave him direction, that life has meaning and makes sense for him. And at the same time, he falters. He’s a little bit of an alcoholic, he has doubts, a fox follows him around. That tension is what makes him deciding to have sex with fleabag logical, but also him ultimately choosing god a choice that makes all the sense in the world. That is his whole worldview, and as much as he loves fleabag, he can’t give that up so easily.

Noah in Nobody Wants This has none of that. Most of the show we focus on what an amazing guy he is and how much he loves being a Rabbi and how deeply connected he is to Judaism. The show is more about Joanne struggling with finding a “good guy” and trying her hardest to be perfect for him, and ultimately deciding that it is too much pressure. That bit makes sense. But Noah choosing her over Head Rabbi? That makes no narrative sense. We never see him struggling with his faith, not even with the role of a Rabbi. Every time we see that he enjoys it so much and that it goes deeeeeep and is basically who he is as a person.

Him choosing Joanne makes no sense. What is he going to do next, become an amateur basketball player? Hang out with her all day?

Them getting together in the end without discussing any of this took so much away from the moment for me. Idk, I guess we will see it play out in S2 but oh god I just got reminded of the narrative masterpiece that fleabag s2 is, especially the struggle with faith.

23. Do they like pick up lines?

Merlin totally tries all the cheesy lines he can think of on JetStream. She totally thinks it’s all very silly but loves them none the less! Merlin is a certified goofball so she knew what she was getting into haha Besides- JetStream does well with a goof by her side, helps her loosen up a bit.

27. Who would propose? What would their wedding be like? Merlin proposed during a trip to Ponyville while on shore leave. This is around the time when he’s getting close to retiring from his time in the military and the two already decided that they’d get married once he was out. It wasn’t anything too grand as that isn’t Stream’s speed. I like to think maybe after dinner they went for a walk right after a rain storm came through so everything was reflecting light in a pretty way and it was probably getting closer to sunset so once they found themselves in a nice looking spot (maybe on a bridge?) Merlin would pop the question.

As for wedding? No idea honestly- I figured if I brought Ask-JetStream back Merlin would still be her finance so I haven’t really given it much thought. I could see them doing something maybe renting out a barn? Have the party in the old barn and the ceremony in a neat field or something? No idea haha
