HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bud Abbott, Badly Drawn Boy, Sigtryggur Baldursson (The Sugarcubes), Victor Borge’s 1953 “Comedy in Music” premiere, the 1956 film BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, Mahatma Gandhi, Moses Gunn, Richard Hell, Dave Holland, Freddie Jackson, the unsinkable Violet Jessop, Persis Kambatta, Chris LeDoux, Annie Leibowitz, George “Spanky” McFarland, Groucho Marx, Don McLean, Ron Meagher (Beau Brummels), the 1995 album WHAT’S THE STORY MORNING GLORY by Oasis (good to meet you Noel), Phillip Oakley (Human League), John Otway, Michael Rutherford, Jo-El Sonnier, my most excellent cousin Susan Stamm, Sting, Nat Turner, THE TWILIGHT ZONE TV series (premiered 1959), Gillian Welch, the first newspaper comic strip THE YELLOW KID (1895), Yokozuna, and the great British writer (journalist, novelist, screenwriter) Graham Greene. I cite him as a key influence on my lyrics, and I’ve read his novels repeatedly—many of which have been made into films (some more than once): The End of The Affair (1955, 1999), The Human Factor, the excellent Our Man in Havana w/Alec Guinness & Ernie Kovacs (1959), The Quiet American (1958, 2002), The Power and The Glory a.k.a. The Fugitive w/Henry Fonda (1947), and the landmark film noirs This Gun for Hire w/Alan Ladd & Veronica Lake (1942) and The Third Man w/Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Wells + Anton Karas’s ironic zither music (1951).
As a journalist, Greene’s 67-year long career took him to leper colonies, war zones, and odd “hot spots” around the world, along with spying for MI6 during World War II. These provided settings for his stories, exploring ambivalent ethical and political issues of the modern world, often through a Biblical lens that offered redemption to criminals and sinners while exposing the hypocrisies of moral superiors. I can find his imprints in several of my songs, but the most overt is “Unresolved—Graham Greene’s Script for Laurel & Hardy,” imagining if Greene had written a script for the comedy team of Laurel & Hardy (maybe echoing Greene’s late-in-life friendship with Charlie Chaplin). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBvBEVq0PSE Meanwhile, HB GG and thank you for your volumes of spiritually-informed writing and letting us be human in the eyes of God.

"I Love You So Much It Hurts" - Patsy Cline
"Tonight You Belong To Me" - Patience & Prudence
"I've Got My Mind Set On You" - James Ray
"Only You (And You Alone)" - The Platters
"My Way" - Frank Sinatra
"Can't Take My Eyes Off You" - Frankie Valli
"Somethin' Stupid" - Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra
"I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" - Four Tops
"Baby Love" - The Supremes
"I Will Follow Him" - Peggy March
"Strangers In The Night" - Frank Sinatra
"I've Got You Under My Skin" - Frank Sinatra
And a bonus that is a newer song but in a 50s-60s style:
"Breakfast With Lou" - Jesse Jo Stark
- Nuthouse Anon
Ooo, "I Will Follow Him" and "I've Got You Under My Skin" were the two stand-outs for me. Songs about unconditional love or that use heart/flesh imagery always become so creepy in the context of this AU.

Alisa Alho: Easy Living
31.7 avajaisperformanssi,
3.8. Mikko Sarvanne soolo,
4.8 Stella Massa ja Alisa Alho,
13.8 Jussi Lipasti ja Alisa Alho,
15.8 Inari Kaurilahti ja Allen Valli,
16.8 Friends performing Yan Jun: Musically Homeless (Homage to PF&DW)

The Golden Globes
The golden globes, an award ceremony that respect and admire the biggest films and television in the year, presented by comedian Jo Koy.
Whilst our actors and actresses are waiting anxiously, anticipating with their peers for the results on the title they’ve been nominated for, us viewers at home can admire the amazing fashion that accompanies the honour of the award.
Here are some of my personal favourites from the ceremony:
Emma Stone wearing a stunning floral embellished dress from Louis Vuitton. Giving a heart-warming speech dedicated to her husband to elegantly accept her award for 'Best Film Actress in a Comedy/Musical.' In the film 'Poor Things.'
Natalie Portman sparkling in Dior haute couture. Nominated for 'Best Film Actress in a Comedy/Musical.' In the Best-Picture nominated film 'May December.'
Ayo Edebiri in Prada, winning 'Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series.' and winning the hearts of us fashion moguls. Winning for her role in the series, 'The Bear'.
Carey Mulligan flaunting a beautiful Schiaparelli, nominated for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama.' For her performance in the drama 'Maestro'.
Brie Larson bringing back elegance and class in a lilac Prada dress, nominated for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.' For her role in 'Lessons In Chemistry'.
Elle Fanning bringing in the current trend of bows into a ethereal luxurious twist, wearing vintage Pierre Balmain and Cartier. Nominated for 'Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series.' For her role as Catherine the Great, in The Great.

Torna “Back to school” da mercoledì 5 aprile, in prima serata, su Italia 1
Torna “Back to school” da mercoledì 5 aprile, in prima serata, su Italia 1. Attori: Francesco Pannofino, Ricky Tognazzi e Jenny De Nucci. Cantanti: Blind, Ivan Cattaneo, Katia Ricciarelli, Mietta e Riki. Influencer: Beatrice Valli, Elisa Esposito e Luca Daffrè. Giornalisti e conduttori tv: Alessandro Cecchi Paone e Michele Cucuzza. Personaggi televisivi: Valeria Marini, Awed, Carmen Di Pietro, Cecilia Capriotti, Elena Morali, Gabriele Cirilli, Gigi e Ross, Jo Squillo, Justine Mattera, Luca Onestini, Maria Monsè, Natasha Stefanenko, Pierpaolo Pretelli, Raffaella Fico e Soleil Sorge. I Maestrini, 13 bambini dai 7 agli 11 anni, cercheranno di istruire e seguire nell’apprendimento i 30 Ripetenti. Nella prima puntata di “Back to school”, in onda mercoledì 5 aprile in prima serata su Italia 1, ci saranno: Michele Cucuzza, Jenny De Nucci, Valeria Marini, Pierpaolo Pretelli, Soleil Sorge e Walter Zenga.... #notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article

I don't know if different muncipalities having their own coat of arms is a thing outside of Finland, but I rather like many of them. Like, the only way to go wrong in a coat of arms is to make it boring, the best ones are the most memorable ones. Have a collection of the few that I consider the least aesthetic, most boring coats of arms of all finnish muncipalities. If you see your own hometown coat on this list, do not come at me - fix your own problems first and move somewhere else.
Bland, generic, tells no story. Unfuckable. The kind of shit you'd see on the shield of an enemy that's getting their ass kicked by the Cool Sexy Woman Knight in the first round of a jousting event in a corny but riveting fantasy movie. Now, let's look at some of the cool ones:
Striking. Distinct. Tells you a story, gives you some clue about what this place is and what is the story of the people who live here. Can occasionally afford more than two colours per coat. Now that's sexy. These, these are good. I had a hard time choosing only nine that I liked best, so I decided to divide the examples of Sexy Coats of Arms into non-animal and animal cathegories. These are examples of the cool ones with animals on them:
And as a final special mention we have Kouvola. The city of Kouvola largely doesn't deserve the bad rep it has - the crime rate isn't that high, the title of "the ugliest city in Finland" is a bit harsh since it does have some vaguely soviet/dystopian grunge brutalist aesthetic if you're into that sort of thing, and in my experience the friendliest crackheads in Finland. But all those things said, their coat of arms does kinda feature this thing eerily similar to the symbol of Chaos

"What would a good big brother do?" Part 3
Part 1, Part 2
Things were going wrong. Very wrong.
Not for an eye untrained in the ways of Damianos Vallis, that is. But for Kastor it was obvious how WRONG it was.
It started off good enough. The three of them walked up to the De Vere brothers and said brief hellos to Auguste before turning to Laurent.
The younger blond had a carefully neutral expression since their group approached them. Kastor, although having known Jokaste for a long time and dating her for six months, still had issues with reading her face sometimes. And they were close, they talked about stuff and did things together and overall knew one another quite well. Kastor felt blessed to be trusted with Jokaste’s deepest dreams and desires. Not many could say that about themselves.
Despite all of that, he still found himself puzzled whenever Jo put on her poker face like a proper Lady Gaga fan. He couldn’t see through it as well as he would like.
So it wasn’t a surprise Kastor had a hard time reading Laurent, who he had just met, at this very moment.
“Laurent, these are my friends, Kastor and Damianos Vallis.” Auguste introduced them.
Kastor waved to Laurent while Damen laughed. “Do you always introduce people by their full name? Hi.” He offered his hand to Laurent. “I’m Damen. Nice to meet you.”
“Likewise.” Laurent’s voice was smooth like silk and pleasant to listen to, like one of those voice actors who do voiceovers for nature shows. Kastor realized he never asked Auguste about Laurent’s occupation. If the young man was unemployed, he’d absolutely recommend this career to him.
“This unpleasant guy here is Nikandros.” Auguste joked, earning a glare from Nik.
The younger blond exchanged more pleasantries with all of them. Kastor asked about his degree - it was in biology, Laurent wanted to go to vet school which was so damn cool, did you hear that, Damen? - and that started a conversation about everyone’s occupations. Nice, pleasant and proper.
Aka the exact opposite of what Kastor wanted to witness.
After some time Laurent excused himself to the bathroom, Damen and Nik offered to get everyone a drink, and Kastor took the opportunity to consult with Gus.
“What in the actual ever loving fuck, Auguste?!” He hissed.
“You’re getting less and less creative with your insults, dude.” Auguste deadpanned.
“My creativity isn’t an issue here, it’s your brother!”
Gus narrowed his eyes. “How is my brother an issue?”
“He’s nice!”
“Laurent’s not a dick, you know. He can be nice when he wants to.”
“Yeah but he was supposed to not want to be nice! Like, I thought he’d be this sassy ice queen you talked to me about. It all goes wrong,” Kastor nearly ripped hair out of his head, that’s how frustrated he was, “Damen will never fall for a nice person.”
Auguste sighed. “I think you’re overthinking it. And he dated Lykaios, remember her? She was the sweetest person on this planet.”
“He did date Lykaios but I also remember they broke it off after two months because the spark wasn’t there.” He pointed out. “My brother needs spice in the ass he’s eating!”
How Kastor found out Damen likes to eat ass is a story for another time.
Damen and Nik chose that very moment to return with beer for everyone. Passing a bottle to Gus, Damen said, “Your brother seems nice.”
There wasn’t anything indicating romantic interest in his tone and Nik released a relieved sigh, while Kastor wanted to smash something out of frustration.
He had to find a way to make Laurent stop being nice. Maybe not to the point of offending someone, despite the fact it would make Damen hot and bothered the fastest, but if the guy could throw in a sassy remark here and there, it should do the trick.
It was as if The Gay Gods have listened and answered to Kastor’s prayers, have smelled his desperation over all this Axe body spray he had used and decided to act accordingly.
Laurent strolled up to them, his expression closed off, body tightly locked and overall radiating a I’m Pissed Off Don’t Approach Or I Will Bite Your Head Off energy. Auguste was immediately on high alert, which further encouraged Kastor to be hopeful.
“What is it?” Auguste asked, eyes scanning his brother closely in search of some reason for his distress. “Did anything happen?”
“I bumped into the biggest asshole on earth, that’s what happened! Thank you.” The younger blond nodded at Damen who offered him a drink.
“I hope mojito is alright.” Damen smiled.
“It is.”
“What did the asshole do?” Auguste wouldn’t let it go.
Tenseness immediately returned to Laurent’s face. “Some idiot saw a WWF poster about saving the turtles on the wall and he tried to hit on me with a ‘I wonder if a turtle would make tasty skewers’ line.”
Even Kastor thought that was fucked up and he knew he wasn’t the brightest.
Damen looked positively scandalized. “What a dick! It’s not funny. What did you tell him?”
The words had the corner of Laurent’s lip jerk in a smirk. “I may have suggested he should end up being skewered, although the quality of his meat seems low enough even starving dogs wouldn’t touch it.”
“Where’s he now?”
Laurent took a sip of his mojito and deadpanned, “On his way to ER, I believe. He tried to grope me while sputtering nonsense so I may have sprained his wrist. At least. I think I heard something snap.”
It was as if the sun peaked from between the clouds, bathing them in its warmth and light. Nikandros looked like he was about to faint or vomit, Auguste still seemed concerned and Damen’s expression was of someone who just saw an angel descend from the heavens.
Kastor wanted to do a victory dance. His bro was half in love already.
“Nice.” Damen then mentioned, “You know, I could show you how to throw someone over your shoulder, if you felt like broadening your repertoire. Works on people bigger than you as well.”
“You would teach me?” Laurent looked hesitant but intrigued.
Damen flexed his biceps. “I own a few gyms and worked as a personal trainer for years.”
Pale blue eyes scanned Damen’s body closely and very slowly, as if trying to engrave the image into his memory. “I see.” He said, voice turning low and smooth. “I might take you up on this offer.”
Nik downed his drink. Auguste and Kastor exchanged a knowing look, the former now clearly convinced there was a spark between their younger brothers.
