Occultation Intro and Nav

You only have two things you’re supposed to do this year: graduate and keep working at the diner in the meantime. What you’re not supposed to do is find your missing classmate’s dead body and you’re definitely not supposed to discover an entire supernatural society hiding in plain sight. 

But that’s exactly what you do. 

The body isn’t the first to turn up and it won’t be the last as you’re dragged into a mystery filled with ghosts, magic, and shapeshifters. You do your best to keep yourself and your family from becoming targets, but you might be more connected to the murders than you know.

Lots of actors in Twin Peaks have some sort of connection to each other, to others actors, or had worked with Lynch before Twin Peaks.

Here are some examples:

If you've paid attention to the credits in the opening you'll see the name Warren Frost. He played Will Hayward, Donna's father, and was Mark Frost's, one of the creators of Twin Peaks, father.

There's also Stephen Gyllenhaal who directed episode 27 who is Jake and Maggie's Gyllenhaal father.

There's also some Twin Peaks actors whose children are now famous. Such as Peggy Lipton, who played Norma Jennings, her daughter is actress Rashida Jones, her father is legendary music producer Quincy Jones. Mary Jo Deschanel, who played Eileen Hayward, is the wife of Caleb Deschanel, who directed three Twin Peaks episodes. Their daughters are Zooey and Emily Deschanel. There's also Russ Tamblyn, who played Dr. Jacoby, he' the father of Amber Tamblyn.

The ladies of The Marlow Murder Club will be back to solve more grisly cases as Robert Thorogood’s (Death in Paradise) cozy crime drama has been renewed for a second season by PBS Masterpiece.

As reported by Variety, Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, and Cara Horgan are all set to return as amateur sleuthing trio Judith, Suzie, and Becks for Season 2 of the British drama series. Natalie Dew will also reprise her role as police inspector Tanika Malik.

Season 2 will see the group reunite to solve another spate of unsettling crimes. The series is scheduled to film this summer and will be directed by Steve Barron.

The show comes from Thorogood and is an adaptation of his Marlow Murder Club novels. It follows retired archaeologist Judith, dog-walker Suzie, and vicar’s wife Becks as they team up to solve mysterious murders in their sleepy, idyllic town of Marlow.

Season 2 will see Thorogood adapt his second novel in the series, Death Comes to Marlow, for a two-episode murder mystery. Meanwhile, Lucia Haynes (Vera) and Julia Gilbert (Midsomer Murders) will each pen brand-new stories for the season.

“From a seemingly impossible murder inside the locked study of a sweeping mansion, to the mysterious case of a man murdered in the middle of a sleepy cul-de-sac with no connection to the town, and an unexpectedly brutal accident at the prestigious Marlow sailing club that quickly reveals itself to be something more sinister, there’s no rest for our sleuthing trio,” reads the official logline.

The Marlow Murder Club is produced by Monumental Television in association with ITV Studios.

“Monumental Television and Robert Thorogood’s female-led mystery thriller ‘The Marlow Murder Club’ proved to be such a smash hit with viewers that we just had to bring it back for a second season,” said UKTV head of drama Helen Perry. “We’re delighted to be re-joining Judith Potts and the gang for more fun and puzzle-solving drama, and we know our viewers will love it too.”

Debra Hayward, Monumental co-founder, added, “We loved collaborating with Robert on ‘The Marlow Murder Club,’ and we couldn’t have asked for a better cast to bring to life his unlikely amateur detectives. We are thrilled that the first series went down so well with audiences, and we can’t wait to return to the charming town of Marlow for series two.”

I... spent years of my life thinking Julie and Billy were australian...

LMAOO well yeah, that's because the english dub changed it so they were australian because they wanted dan, runo, marucho and shun to be living in america as opposed to japan. the english dub localized a lot of the city names and character names in order for a western audience to relate to the characters more.

as such, there's a misconception that a lot of the characters we see in season 1 are american. such is the case with dan in particular, where you'll see that people think that he's soo american that he wouldn't like eating with chopsticks when he's canonically seen using them.

julie and billy are both american though, which you can easily tell in the japanese dub by the way they talk and the environment they live in. as i mentioned here the brawlers fly across las vegas on their way to julie's house, not to mention that both of julie and billy's throwing styles are visually similar to baseball pitches, which is the us national sport.

also this background is very sterotypically american lol

joe brown is actually called osamu jo and he was not hospitalized in cure city, he was hospitalized in kyushu, japan. dan's name is kuso danma, julie's last name is not makimoto but hayward and she wasn't eating chocolate chip cookies while they were visiting joe, she was eating japanese rice cookies.

localization removes all these moments and, in my opinion, makes it very hard for a western audience to really understand how these kids are from different parts of the world. but on the other hand, some of the jokes are related to the japanese language and can't carry over in the english translation so i understand that not all the jokes can make sense regardless of the dub.
