Little reminder that JK Rowling is actively using her money to harm trans people and also has said that, to her, anybody who enjoys her work counts as someone who agrees with her beliefs.
If you're still a Harry Potter fan after everything you're aligning yourself with her and nothing you can say will change the fact you are choosing a poorly-written, cliche children's book over thousands of real people's lives.

i recommend refraining from sexism terms/terms usually used to insult women when talking about jk r*wling :3
fucking piece of shit whiny prick. go run to the pathetic clowns who think you raging about minorities is revolutionary, you revolting disgrace of a human. being a bigoted asshole isn’t getting you brownie points. it’s just showing you just like people who fit into your heterosexist view of the world. disgusting.

im rehyperfixating on harry potter again and i really don't want to because I hate jk rowling.
I hate everything she stands for, every prejudice shes written into her books
reading fanfiction doesn't make it better, I'm just projecting my thoughts and feelings on top of her bullshit
so if anyone has advice on how to break out of hyperfixation it would be appreciated.

LOST reading list
a list of books read by characters in lost for you to enjoy (or not). this isn't every book referenced in lost. for all that and more, see the "literary works" page on lostpedia, where im getting my info
no, my criteria for this list is that it's been read by a lost character. i'll tell you who (you'll see sawyers name a lot), and i'll add if it's somebody's fave book. this list will not include things like the bible or the qur'an or historical texts, as that while that can technically be recreational reading (it seems to be for ben), i'd rather not
Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (read by Jack)
Are You There God? It's Me Margaret by Judy Blume (read by Sawyer)
A Brief History of Time by Stephan Hawking (read by Ben)
The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky (read by Ben)
Caravan of Dreams by Idries Shah (read by Ben)
Carrie by Stephen King (Read by Juliet, Ben and various other Others. This is Juliet's favourite book)
The Chosen by Chaim Potok (read by Sawyer)
Dark Horse by Tami Hoag (read by Jack)
The Dark Tower I: The Gunslinger by Stephen King (read by Ben)
Dirty Work by Stuart Woods (read by Jack)
Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor (read by Jacob)
Evil Under The Sun by Agatha Christie (read by Sawyer)
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (read by Ben)
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes (read by Ben)
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand (read by Sawyer)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling (read by Jack)
Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie (read by Desmond)
Hotel by Arthur Hailey (read by Ben)
The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares (read by Sawyer)
Lancelot by Walker Percy (read by Sawyer)
Laughter in the Dark by Vladimir Nabokov (read by Hurley)
Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky (read by Ilana)
The Oath by John Lescroart (read by Ben)
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck (read by Sawyer. This is Sawyer's favourite book and author)
Roots by Alex Haley (read by Ben)
A Separate Reality by Carlos Castaneda (read by Ben)
The Sheltering Shy by Paul Bowles (read by Ben)
Ulysses by James Joyce (read by Ben)
Valhalla Rising by Clive Cussler (read by Ben and Jack)
VALIS by Philip K. Dick (read by Ben)
Watership Down by Richard Adams (read by Boone and Sawyer)
A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle (read by Sawyer)
Every work by Charles Dickens other than Our Mutual Friend (read by Desmond. This is his favourite author)
I encourage you to speculate on the character implications put forth by these reading choices. This can raise such questions as: Jack is a Harry Potter fan? What is Desmond's favourite book by Charles Dickens? Boone can read??
Thank you for your time

Didn't expect the year of our Lord 2025 to get into Alan Rickman, but I guess that's how it goes sometimes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The year of getting into an actor that so far I have only seen portray maladjusted men
#mctalks#alan rickman#really only had watched Die Hard and the HP movies the series being just something i watched as a kid and Die Hard being more recent as of#like the 2020s but rewatched Die Hard last year and my interest of Hans spiked cause to be real 80s-90s Alan could get it respectfully#also Alan is a good actor actually so yeah gonna check out more of his movies#watched Quigley Down Under like last Tuesday and The January Man last night#beating the shit out of elliott marston as a way to fix him and giving a lil smooch and a decent meal to Ed the Painter#next goal is to watch the robin hood movie cause his looks do be serving in the promo images i see#uhh ranking of those alan movies i guess will come later but so far from best to worst#die hard quigley down under and the january man#not ranking the hp movies cause one its been like maybe about 6 or 7 years since ive seen them so idk how well they aged#i mean i know im not gonna like them purely for reasons associated with jk rowling obviously#im sure ill like Alans performace tho if or when i do watch them again#that and also the main three in the hp movies too thank god they came out normal#also did not realize how much of a culture alan had on tumblr like it might be the only time ive seen an actor tagged in the work#that they do? like other fandoms for movies and tv shows i dont see the actors tagged in as much but Alan hes literally tagged#with everything which idk if that stems from his impact on harry potter or what#i mean thats likely what it is plus the passing im sure#so like i guess when i make art pieces ill tag him too? just so more people see it cause generally it seems like people really appreciate#his work and the movies hes in#anyway thats it for my ramblings lol its late as i rig#anyway thats all for my ramblings lol#i will say its amazing how in all three of these picturea i used he looks different in all of them even though two movies were released#in the same year and the other only two years later

Hi! Are you a Harry potter fan? :3
Unfortunately, I’m hyper fixated on it right now so yes. You’ll see a lot me reblogging stuff, because I’m specifically fixated on drarry rn… (I love ftm Draco as well…)
I don’t like JK Rowling so I hope she turns into a cheese stick and gets picked up by a bird and lost in the beauty of nature forever never to be seen again so that Harry potter is freed (I hate TERFs)

Just going to throw out -JKR was objectively not an especially good writer. My thesis in 2007 was on that so that isn't new. Grabbing a zeitgeist isn't the same as being talented. Absolutely not defending either writer in any case but just noting, JKR being catchy and tropey doesn't mean she's a good wordsmith, because she isn't.
i think this is interesting because it raises the question of what a good writer is, which in my opinion is not solely to do whether or not someone is a wordsmith (although that can be a large part of it & is used in a lot of 'objective' models of good writing). i also think its different from a kids perspective vs from an adult perspective. I remember reading the chamber of secrets as a kid and being genuinely hooked by the mystery. is it the kind of thing i'd pick up now? no, but i don't think an adult audience was ever really intended and i would say her writing is about on par with other middle grade fiction. i've only read one book from gaiman and it was neverafter which wasn't middle grade but seemed YA adjacent and didn't think he was necessarily a great wordsmith either. anyways tl;dr everyone has their own opinion on what is good writing i was more just commenting on reaction of people within fandom spaces (i'm also totally willing to acknowledge that there have been people who have thought rowling was bad for years! i just don't think it was as much in the cultural forefront until everything went down.)

liexii should be Lee. but he should be the twelfth named Lee in his family, so the twelve thing makes sense (ive been pronouncing "liexii" like "lee-shee" or "lee-twelve")
(which means junior would be the thirteenth. this family LOVES being named Lee)
just a suggestion but i think its funny :3
This is super fucking funny as a concept but he just doesn't seem like a Lee to me even if his name starts with Li... itd probably be a good Junior nickname though he'd be a Lee

Tbh sick and tired of show runners/writers/actors dismissing any kind of conjecture of romance between two male characters as “they’re like brothers!” My brother in Christ y’all made those two men have threesomes together, or roll around in a field on top of each other and do couples therapy together, or have clearly planned out and animated sequences paralleling each other comparing the canon love interest to the male partner. Like. Does subtext mean nothing?

Another day another art professor half promoting the us of AI as a "tool".
Literally WTF, saying we have to adapt to the market is such a shit take with the state of the world RN.
That shit doesn't matter, I feel like that's the least of our worries. We don't need to use AI FOR ANYTHING.
WE DECIDE what the industry is. The working artists IN THE INDUSTRY can decide what's "industry standard" with our actions and techniques.
Fuck AI, fuck this rhetoric.

Oh no something mildly political, the horror,
But I am so tired of cis people (especially cishet) who like, buy things that are actively harmful to trans people and that isn’t a necessity and then when trans people obviously get fucking upset go “well the vitriol makes me wanna do this thing EVEN HARDER lmao!”
No! You’re part of the fucking problem! You don’t get to tone police trans people, my god! Cannot even imagine how the Pakistan people fuckin feel with their shit being 1000x

Me, talking to a cis friend about Harry Potter: honestly, the films are... *okay* if you stream them but I wouldn't touch the books with a barge pole.
Random classmate, 2 seconds later: harry potter? Oh you HAVE to read the books they're so much better and blah blah blah

Finally sold off that damn stupid boy wizard Blu-ray box set that I spent too much money on back in 2018 when I was still a fan *gag*. I have exorcised the demon and got paid too. Fuck you, Joanne.
