gege had a set of the coolest and most skilled female characters and somehow managed to underutilise them all
- yuki: special grade powerhouse, did revolutionary research on cursed energy and souls, cool fucking shikigami that she turned into a living cursed tool, can throw hands with the strongest male characters, caught a main villain off by turning herself into a fucking BLACK HOLE -> was ultimately wasted/ her loss didn’t make sense
- maki: nearly physically en par with sukuna, could even fight him in the air, superhuman strength and senses, extreme speed, has been able to see the fucking soul for half of the story (which was a crucial thing in the whole sukuna fight?), sukuna states to be intrigued by her the most -> underutilised as hell, basically thrown aside in the last fight
- nobara: badass fights, can hold her own ground even against stronger opponents, has a technique that’s incredibly dangerous for TWO major antagonists -> taken out for more than half of the story, no character development and comeback makes no sense at all
- yorozu: smart and strong sorcerer despite being born with an extremely energy inefficient technique, literally jujutsu engineer from fucking heian era that does research to make the most of her weaknesses -> is being used as a comic relief, reduced to having an annoying crush and being a test object for mahoraga, is only relevant to the story because of her vessel
- angel/ hana: extremely dangerous technique for incarnated sorcerers including sukuna, with whom angel is said to have some sort of ancient beef -> literally declared to be absolutely useless for… losing an arm??? let’s not forget that hana’s affection for megumi is constantly depicted as angel’s weakness (gullible girls and their irrational feelings amirite?)
- shoko: one of the three known RCT users that can heal others with their technique (the other two being a special grade and the king of curses), head of their medical team -> never really shown in action, barely any screen time
#ignore me. it’s kinda late and I’m probably mad for no reason#sure gege has a pattern of wasting his characters. but it’s especially bad with female characters#mei mei is an amazing sorcerer but isn’t very loved due to her controversy#and don’t get me started on tsumiki or the kyoto girls#jujutsu kaisen#yuki tsukumo#nobara kugisaki#maki zenin#jjk maki#jjk yorozu#hana kurusu#jjk angel#shoko ieiri#jjk#☁️.blogging

Yess sukuna is lying about not knowing flowers.. Body swapped Yuta can't go through gojo's memories, only when the brain swapped he could. That means sukuna, too, can't go through megumi's memories???? Sukuna knows flowers 🌼
In this post, I'll cover:
Conditions to read someone else's memories
Proof that Sukuna knows about flowers and lied to Yuji
WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS UP TO CH. 265. PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU AREN'T CAUGHT UP.
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
First of all, let me clear up this misunderstanding about soul swapping.
Body swapping doesn't allow the intruder to read the memories of the person they're intruding in. To my understanding, it's because soul swapping doesn't break the soul's connection from the original body despite the switch - that's why Yuta can't read Gojo's memories and vice versa. The only ways one can read another person's memories are through their soul co-habiting with another in one body regardless if they have full control of the body or not; or if you have a CT that allows you to body hop, disconnecting your soul from one body and connecting to another.
The reincarnated sorcerers, including Sukuna and Angel, can read the memories of the people they're co-existing with in one body - they are the best examples of the former. Kenjaku has a CT that allows their brain to invade a corpse and control it, provided that it is not greatly damaged and has no conditions like a heavenly restriction in it - this is the best example of the latter. So, to read someone else's memories, you gotta co-exist with someone in one body or have some CT that allows body hopping.
Sukuna is still co-existing with Megumi in Megumi's body, so he can read Megumi's memories, though not always instantaneous.
。 ˚ ︶︶✩︶︶ ₊ ˚ ︶︶✩︶︶ 。˚。 ˚ ︶︶✩︶︶ ₊ ˚ ︶︶✩︶︶ 。˚。 ˚ ︶︶
Megumi's Memories???
Sukuna was definitely lying. He certainly knows about flowers. Let me explain.
So here's what we know of Megumi from what Gege revealed from the fanbook.
He's an animal-type of guy. He loves animals more than humans, plus he's more into reading, especially non-fiction books (he reads the newspapers, too).
"Oh, but Tsumiki -"
Yes, Tsumiki was into constellations, and most likely, flowers, too. Megumi knows that. But how much do you think Megumi remembers all the things she taught him about them?
Megumi barely remembered about the Southern Cross constellation.
JJK CHAPTER 156
"Yeah, but Sukuna could've seen these stuff in passing."
Okay. Let's look at chapter 265 - RAW. Translated by me, lmao.
"Asagao (Morning Glories)" "It's Ajisai (Hydrangeas), fool."
(After Yuji yapped about Sendai and the flowers in this place) "Come to think of it, you can identify things like the names of the flowers, huh."
(Note: I know Yuji used 分かる here, which also means 'to know'. But, in this context, it means 'know by looking at the flowers').
"..................I guess it's Fushiguro Megumi's memories."
Bro, what's with the long pause? What's with the conjecture? It's a simple question.
We know it's not from Yuji since he's more into movies, and perhaps TV shows since he likes watching TV. So it's either he knows it already or he learned it from Megumi - why hesitate?
"Oh, you're overreacting-"
Here's another panel. Look at how he recognized Yuta's CT from Megumi's memories in chapter 249.
(Literal Translation) "From Fushiguro Megumi's memories, it is revealed [to me] that the cursed technique of the kid, possessed by the cursed spirit, is Copy." (Kanji of Copy: 模倣, imitation)
You're telling me that this hedonistic beefy guy, who can tell someone else's CT from Megumi's memories from the get-go, cannot tell if the names of the flowers are from Megumi's memories?
Nah, there's only one conclusion. Sukuna knows about flowers and he lied to Yuji. Obviously, his claim was such an epic fail, lmao.
Love ya, Sukuna, but screw you for being a big failure in lying.
TLDR - Sukuna knows about Flowers:
Megumi is an animal-lover, and an avid reader of non-fiction books and newspapers
Sukuna can tell Yuta's CT from Megumi's memories, but isn't sure if the knowledge of flowers came from Megumi's memories. So contradictory. It can only mean one thing - he knows about flowers and just lied to Yuji xD
Thank you for coming to my long-ass TedTalk. Until then.

Thoughts on JJK chapter 264 (spoilers)
You know sometimes you just want to strangle Gege for hype endings of the last chapter that are going to be nullified in the next. It gets frustrating so close to a (possible) end of the fight but this time you can excuse it somewhat because the explanation and character feats make sense 😬
Angel's current JL even though it is maximum output is weaker than before because with one arm less her CE can't be channeled 100% from her body to her cursed tool. In other words, Sukuna can brace himself against it scale up to kill Angel
Remarkably, Sukuna calls Angel by her name and we haven't even seen what she looked like. Heian flashback??
Just like against Mahito, Todo simply gets back up after his CT dies. What a champ. Sukuna gets a BF though that isn't immediately negated by Yuji's soul punch
Angel and Todo are seemingly out, Yuta is still lying on the ground somewhere until his CT burnout ends but we still have the weaker good guys standing around and Maki is also there
Sukuna is not beating the Cute™ allegations
It's interesting that JL is active for this long and Yuji, who's drenched in Sukuna's CE is also affected by it but that doesn't hinder him at all
Yuji does get a punch in but it doesn't disrupt Sukuna's recovery of his CE output. This could be because Yuji just left Angel's attack which hindered him in using dismantle.
Yuji isn't beating the Cute™ allegations either with the lines and scissors of his technique. I can already hear the sound effect the anime will add to it. Snip snip
So Sukuna gets his arms back and looks like he's about to overpower Yuji once more. But you know what I thought while reading the chapter? That Sukuna had an awful lot of inner thoughts.
Sukuna never get this much thought bubbles and he's confident of his success to boot? Something is going to go sideways for him, definitely.
And look, we get a flashback about the first time we saw a DE with blindfold Gojo. But it's not like Sukuna needs that flashback, he knows more than anyone how they're made. So... why did this particular image appear in his mind?
Because Yuji
I've seen explanations of Yuji's handsign. I'll link or reblog them later.
The biggest problem for Sukuna is now the Sure hit but he knows Hollow Wicker Basket and has all his arms back so the fight should continue as it started but....
It's so nostalgic seeing Itadori Sukuna 😤
This probably answers the question we had when Sukuna took over Megumi's body. How does his soul look like now? Like Megumi? Or still like Yuji?
Yuji it is.
The setup here is also reminiscent of Gojo's airport scene with Sukuna now in Gojo's place
But is this Yuji's domain or is it one of those fake memories like Todo and Choso had??
As a reminder, not only does Yuji induce strange dream sequences into others but so does Sukuna. We've seen it with Jogo and Kashimo. What we haven't seen is if Sukuna is actually aware of them happening. He might very well be like Yuji with no idea that sth happened.
The difference with Yuji's and Sukuna's induced dreams are that with Yuji they're uninvolved sequences that still speak to the receivers' (Todo/Choso) hearts. For Sukuna they're a last talk with the receiver being fully conscious and able to speak their minds however they wish.
This looks like Sukuna will be fully conscious... But Yuji won't?
It's not like Yuji isn't affected by these dreams though. After Todo's he said that he was in strange place during the Hanami fight where he also called Todo his brazaa. Those fake memories probably affected Yuji subconsciously as well.
So, my guess is that this last scene where Sukuna and Yuji are probably going to have some heavy talking happen to them, is a dream. The real fight might actually be happening simultaneously while they... don't really resolve their character conflict that has been build up since the beginning of the manga. But they might build on top of it.
My second guess for the end of the this arc with how this is set up now, is that Sukuna will get backstabbed by Kenjaku. He will most likely involuntarily become part of the merger which will mean that this fight (and the talk) won't have a proper winner. That part will become Megumi's arc then.

Culling game foreshadowing - part 4
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
This looks similar to the flowers from ch. 265? For context...
Noritoshi is wondering whether his mom actually hates him, feeling like no one needs him. Why did she name him Noritoshi Kamo? Pronounced the same as the most evil sorcerer in history (actually, it was Kenjaku)?
Couldn't fit in this post, but Megumi's drink seems relevant to the flowers.
Then we get to see her side of things. This already seemed like it was about Megumi and Yuuji...
And immediately after, it cuts to Angel / Hana speaking to Megumi, who was asleep for days. He doesn't respond to her, only Yuuji.
Gege I see what you're doing.
And didn't part 1 of this series mention destiny to Megumi? Why are they all saying that.
Then Takaba shows up, and I hope this happens too.
Words aren't the answer, killing is healing, on God this is about Sukugo and Gojo will return to teach Sukuna about love.
Is that Geto?
Is this about the systems failing justice, so Maki and Geto and Higuruma take it onto their own hands? Is Maki going to kill Mei Mei (who I assume they were just talking about)?
I don't rly know what's going on here I'm just throwing noodles at the wall to see if they're cooked.
Yuuta shifted his domain's location, instead of being over an ocean, it was where sorcerers could lurk and Maki could attack Sukuna.

The Fallen and the Angel - Backstory Theories on Sukuna and Angel
So while I was on my home from campus one day, I was thinking back on the chapter when Angel introduced herself and Sukuna revealed that he was 'The Fallen One'. Then, a realization hit me. There are other hidden meanings and implications behind their title, and I'll go over it in this post.
WARNING: MANGA SPOILERS. PLEASE DO NOT INTERACT IF YOU ARE NOT YET CAUGHT UP WITH THE MANGA.
During the Culling Games arc, we were introduced to Angel, who was inhabiting Hana Kurusu. Angel was there apparently to stop the incarnated sorcerers and to extinguish the Fallen One, Sukuna.
So why is it that Angel is so obsessed with her mission to do that to Sukuna? And what else does it mean to be 'The Fallen One'?
Here are my main theories about it:
Angel and Sukuna were part of or associated with the imperial family
Sukuna betrayed or was the disgrace the imperial family, especially the Emperor.
Sukuna defeated the clans descended from divinities.
⊹ ︶⏝⭒ ⊹ ⭒⏝︶ ⊹⊹ ︶⏝⭒ ⊹ ⭒⏝︶ ⊹⊹ ︶⏝⭒ ⊹ ⭒⏝︶ ⊹⊹ ︶⏝⭒ ⊹ ⭒⏝︶ ⊹
Here's why I think those were the case.
Angel:
JJK Chapter 199 - "The Angel" is I." ("Tenshi" wa Watashi da yo)
In Japanese, Angel's name is 天使 (Tenshi). It means the messenger or envoy of heaven - basically, an angel. But there's another meaning to it.
Let me explain.
That is, a messenger or envoy of the imperial family.
天 (Ten) means heaven or sky, but it is also associated with a person.
In Japanese, if you want to refer to the Emperor of Japan, you use the word 天皇 (Ten-noo), meaning 'Heavenly Emperor.'
The Emperor.
As you can see, the Japanese in the past associated the emperor with the divinity. In fact, the Imperial Family claims that they are descendants of Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess.
So if we were to read Angel's name again 天使, we can also interpret it as her having been the messenger or envoy of the imperial family. I know I and the manga itself has mentioned that Angel was part of the Abe clan's sorcerer army, but from this we can now assume that she either wasn't originally part of the Abe clan at first, but was part of the imperial family's army; or was part of it, but she was also associated with the imperials.
One thing to note here is that even though the Abe clan was descended from a grandson of the 8th Emperor of Japan, they are not considered part of the imperial family in Heian era and are just considered nobility at this point. Angel has also mentioned that she was following God's laws, and she could be referring to the Emperor's creed since the Emperor is considered heavenly, a son of heaven.
Sukuna:
JJK CHAPTER 199 - "The Fallen" is I." (Daten wa Ore da)
But then, what about Sukuna?
He was referred to as 'The Fallen One', 堕天 (Daten). People have been comparing him to Lucifer or a fallen angel, someone who fell from grace. But what if I tell you that this might also mean that he was the disgrace and/or traitor of the imperial family?
Theory #1 - Disgrace of the imperial family
堕天 (Daten) literally translates to 'fallen from heaven'. Here are some implications of it:
Mazie from tiktok, tells us of how Sukuna can be related to the imperial family.
Kamino, the pronunciation of the kanji 竈 for furnace, that he says before saying fuuga is also the original name of Emperor Saga. But the kanji for Emperor Saga's original name was 神野. Emperor Saga was a renowned Chinese classics scholar and a calligrapher, though he ruled from 809 to 823 at the beginning of the Heian period, just after the capital has been moved to Heian-kyoo (present-day Kyoto).
One theory I propose is that Sukuna is a descendant of Emperor Saga through a branch family, meaning younger sons of the Emperor or grandsons who either:
Lost the succession rights, received a last name, and were demoted to nobility class. In this case, the Saga Genji line of the Minamoto clan. (Some of the clans in this royal-origin nobility class included the Abe clan, Minamoto clan, Taira clan, and Tajihi clan; but the Tajihi and Abe clans are too far in blood relations with the imperial family.)
Born to a prince, but has no succession rights.
Or worst case scenario, they starved her so she can miscarry the twins or impede their development. It is possible that Jin didn't develop properly, and so, Sukuna absorbed the dead fetus. This case is called Vanishing Twin Syndrome, and it happens in real life. As for him claiming that he ate his twin, it must be something that was ingrained to him by someone or people.
But because his mother was going to have twins, she was probably thrown out and starved from not getting used to hardships outside the imperial court.
➽──────────────❥➽──────────────❥➽─────────
As a result, he was outcast from the family along with his mother and lost their privilege as royals or nobles because he was a disgrace to the Emperor and the imperial family, and lived his life just like outlined in my backstory theory.
Theory #2:
Another alternative theory to this is that he was associated with the imperial family through a clan he was affiliated with and that clan was close with the imperials.
The closest one to be associated with the imperials was the Fujiwara family, but based on the information we know so far, he didn't seem to be associated with them until he defeated Uro's army.
But the clan we know was also closely associated with the imperials were the Sugawaras.
I have previous theorized that Sukuna used to be part of the Sugawara's army. You can read my post below:
I still strongly believe that was the case.
Here's a fun fact. Did you know that there used to be an Imperial State University in Heian Japan, called 'Daigaku-ryoo'? It is an educational institution built under the ritsuryoo system (imperial court caste system of Japan at the time) that aimed to train government administrators. The subjects taught here were math, history of Japan and China, classical Chinese works, jurisprudence (philosophy and theory of law) of Japan and China, Japanese and Chinese literature, pronunciation of words, and calligraphy.
And the Sugawaras? They were a clan famous for producing Heads of the Imperial State University (daigaku-ryoo) and Doctors of Chinese Literature & History (basically equivalent to Deans of Chinese Literature & History Department, holding PhD in those subject areas) for generations. What better clan to learn Chinese literature from than the Sugawara clan!
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Proof that Sukuna knows Chinese Literature or Classics:
JJK Chapter 212
Separating and not meeting for a long time
Did you know that the word 'Enchain' Sukuna used in Japanese is inspired from 'The Books of Songs', also known as The Classics of Poetry, under the Odes of Bei? The word is found in one of the lines there written as '死生契闊,与子成説', which roughly means "In life or death, together or apart, I made a promise with you."
Enchain in Japanese is 契闊 (kee-katsu), bolded above. As a word it means the following:
Suffering from endeavour
Not meeting each other for a long time
Estrangement
Never contacting or reaching out to each other for a long while
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
Plus, having high positions in the university meant strong connections with the imperial court and the imperial family. That's why, even though they lost their prestige as high nobles after Michizane was demoted due to the Fujiwaras, they still retained prestige in education. (Also, Sugawara men had also married Fujiwara women, so it's not a surprise if Gojo and Yuta both have Fujiwara blood in them).
So, if my theories that Angel used to be originally part of the imperial family's army of sorcerers before joining the Abe clan, or was associated with them as part of the Abe clan's army were true, then they could've first encountered each other at the imperial court, as well he could've met Uro during this time. Alternatively, the imperial family could've commissioned him through sending requests or orders through the Sugawaras.
Both theories can fit with Sukuna being opened to the world of nobility at court. A world of indulging in their own pleasures and satisfying their own needs, whether that be curiosity, lust, greed, or gluttony. A world of not worrying about anyone else other than themselves. I'm pretty sure that the lifestyle and norms of the nobility combined with the harshness of life of a commoner or slavds and the philosophy of Buddhism/Shinto had tremendous influence in his way of life and thinking that we are currently witnessing.
And whatever that turning point Sukuna experienced, it led to him committing jujutsu disasters and chaos in Japan and was called 堕天 (Daten), The Fallen One. He went against the order and ideas of Buddhism, and caused massive chaos and destruction. This also extends to the clans.
Let me expand on this further.
So far, the Heian era clans in JJK that we know of are, explicitly or not:
The imperial family
Fujiwara
Sugawara
Abe
As I previously mentioned, the imperial family claimed to be descended from the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. The Abe clan were descended from the 8th Emperor, making them also the descendants of the Sun Goddess.
The Fujiwara clan have been intertwined with the imperial family, with the clan male members also marrying imperial princesses (yay, for more incest). But the clan traces its ancestry to Ame no Koyane, the God of Divine Mirror, Great Divination, & Divine Affairs. This God was one of those commanded by the Sun Goddess. So they are descended both from the Sun Goddess herself and one of the Goddess' commander Gods.
Meanwhile, the Sugawara clan claimed that they are descendants of Ame no Hohi. Ame no Hohi is the second son of the Sun Goddess. He was also the younger brother of Ame no oshihomimi, who was the first son of the Goddess and whom the imperial family was said to be descended from.
As we can see, all these four clans traced their ancestry to divinity and are related to the Sun Goddess.
Yet all of them surrendered to Sukuna, the King of Curses. It was to the extent that the Fujiwaras executed Takako Uro for the sake of appeasing him, and elevating him to the status of a God (kami).
This is another reason he's called 堕天 (Daten), 'The Fallen One'. Sukuna defeated all of their armies and caused them shame. He had defeated the Divinities.
Realizing how he might be connected to the Sugawaras, makes the Gojo vs Sukuna fight more comical. Who would've known that Sukuna have fought the descendant of his Lord?
Anyways, that's all from me. Until then.

Kenjaku's plan likely hinges on a broader, multi-layered scheme rather than a single bet on Sukuna. His manipulation of Angel could serve as a failsafe to ensure the Culling Game's energy buildup culminates in chaos, even if the merger with Tengen fails. Angel's ability to end the game by using her cursed technique on Tengen may be key to triggering a catastrophic release of cursed energy, releasing sealed cursed spirits and spreading cursed energy beyond Japan.
Tengen’s barriers have been containing cursed energy within Japan, but once they’re compromised, the release of this energy could lead to global sorcerer births and a rise in cursed spirits. This would create a chaotic feedback loop where negative emotions fuel cursed energy, bringing about global disasters. Kenjaku might foresee this as an evolutionary push for humanity, using the chaos to force the world into the next phase of cursed evolution.
Kenjaku’s plan likely anticipates Sukuna’s potential failure, setting up contingencies like the spread of cursed energy and a global rise in sorcerers and curses. The conflict could lead to the realization that the only way to stop worldwide devastation is to spread Jujutsu knowledge beyond Japan, creating an international sorcerer community. This final decision rests on whether Yuji and his allies can guide the next generation toward Yuki’s vision of fewer curses or Jogo’s dream of a cursed age.
Interested to see what Gege does in these final chapters 🤔
I hadn't thought about Angel's role in Kenjaku's plans but yes, she could disrupt or end the CG prematurely and Kenjaku is someone who would've anticipated that otherwise he wouldn't have offered her the deal or he would've put a failsafe on her as well. The build-up of CE was emphasized multiple times and could be released to cause great damage.
Before the anouncment of the manga ending, I had thought that Kenjaku would backstab Sukuna after his defeat in Shinjuku or even in case he won but was too weak to stop him. My idea was that Kenjaku would infuse the merger with the strongest sorcerer who had ever existed and that Sukuna would be pushed into the role of a victim for the final arc, giving his and Megumi's conflict and relationship the time to shine.
The ritual Kenjaku spoke of that Sukuna/Megumi went through could be a backdoor for unintended consequenses especially when Tengen is still inside Megumi. It's also interesting how a massive buildup of CE resembles the Bath Sukuna/Megumi took and I'm still waiting for tangible consequences of that.
Next chapter has to show us in which direction the end of JJK will go towards and I can't imagine it being a good ending. Maybe a hopeful one where the good guys will be motivated to right the wrongs they'll encounter in the future. But it should have many bleak facts established that wouldn't go away just because two ancient sorcerers were defeated.
Everything Kenjaku set in motion, runs without him, and those include of the top of my head:
the CG still going
Tengen's imprisonment
awakened and reincarnated sorcerers running around
foreign militaries invading Japan

Guys I'm going insane the first chapter of the first light novel is so much foreshadowing it shows so much of the end of the manga, especially ch. 268. Even the baptismff is mentioned. And after that, or even Gojo's unsealing. How Megumi feels with Hana. I'm screaming.
I'm keeping my light novel meta blog @hermit-reads just for adding information not in the anime or manga, so I came here to vent since we've all been spoiled.
Anyway the book is v enjoyable, it's so funny. Megumi's like, this idiot has such awful taste I can no longer be surprised he ate sukuna's finger.
It also makes me feel like no fic I've written or read exaggerates Yuuji's characterization. So that's... Weirdly validating. Like I almost felt bad for him but no he IS JUST so easy to write that way bc he is that way.
#Also I don't want to spoil the book bc reading it is so enjoyable but damn I wish I could enjoy this without spontaneous combustion. It's li#How watching s1 after 267 manga chapters feels#But even more so#Aaaa#jjk manga spoilers#Itafushi#Also if I posted about every annotation I would. My thumbs would fall off. They're at risk already#Jjk hana#Jjk angel#Jjk meta#Jjk 268
