1. hi! pease help me find this fic because i really want to re read this.
junior quartet got sent back around sunshot campaign (i think?) because in the future, the four were there in the guanyin temple face off with jgy, together with lxc, lwj, wwx, and jwy. they were really losing and the seniors told the juniors that they're going to find a way to get out of there. turns out, the seniors sacrificed their life to send the juniors to the past through an array but the juniors didn't know about this. jin guangyao also went back in time because he got into the array in time.
here are some details that im not sure if they're are a part of the fic or it's from others (my mind sometimes mix things up). i hope these help:
- jingyi found young jingyi when they were sent back.
- the juniors went to burial mounds and the people there wer skeptical about them
- later part of the fic, zizhen was not accepted in his family (i forgot why) @moonyramie

3. Hi! This is for ficfinder. I read this fic a few years ago. Its MDZSXTGCF crossover. Im not familiar with TGCF so maybe there will be some incorrect use of some term and relationship. WWX dies after he jump from a clif and then he become ghost in the ghost city. He work/become a friend with hua cheng. WWX wore a weimao (its either weimao or a red umbrella). HC and XL then feel some disturbance and with WWX they visit a place where they jail jun wu (?) In some mountain. But when they arrive, the jailer tells them its not jun wu. HC, XL, and WWX then continue their investigation and they meet with LXC and NMJ. I think there WWX identity is revealed to LXC and NMJ. They found out that the disturbance is because of yin iron that are thrown to the magma in nighless city acting up. To stop that WWX sacrifice himself and he died again. When i read that fic its still ongoing but i dont know what this fic status right know. Thats all i can remember. Thank you! @idontknowwhattowriteforusername

4. For fic finder, please! I am looking for a modern fic where Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian are raising Jin Ling together and they had a happy little family life, but struggled financially. I remember the fic laid out their salaries and tips and they were making hundreds of thousands of dollars but they still bemoaned that they were broke and struggling. 8. Hello Hello!!!! So I've scrolled through 20+ pages of my Ao3 history for a fic but can't find it. So I'm hoping yall can help!! Lan Wanji was a vampire who lives alone in the woods away from humans and his family. Wei Wuxian was a traveling merchant who ends up crashing Lan Wanji's place. He breaks the man's privacy by entering a room containing a portrait of Lan Wanji's mom, this inturn leads to Wei Wuxian being kicked out. Lan Wanji feels guilty after a bit and goes out to find him. Wei Wuxian ends up in a bad situation and Lan Wanji attempts to save him. They both end up in like a ravine and Wei Wuxian is near death. The two kiss and Wei Wuxian purposefully cuts his tongue on Lan Wanji's fang. At the taste of Wei Wuxian's blood Lan Wanji goes feral and bites his neck. Wei Wuxian dies right then and there, Lan Wanji is convinced he killed him despite desperately trying to turn him into a vampire. Lan Wanji was successful after a few minutes of mouring and hating himself Wei Wuxian comes to. It ends with a time skip to vampire Wei Wuxian buying something in a market dressed in a sun hat and long sleeves buying something for Lan Wanji @crimson-gay-sought-flower

"Are you hurt?" Sizhui asks anxiously, jumping off his sword to tun towards Lady Xuanyu.
"Nah," she says, wincing as she stresses. "Well, nothing important."
"You're bleeding!" Jingyi shouts at a really unnecessary pitch. He unsheathes his sword and points it at Song Lan. "What did you do?"
"Stop that," she scolds, knocking his sword down. "Go get Xiao Xingchen and the girl. He's probably really confused right now."
Song Lan's expression clears and he bows to her before flying off.
His father jerks as if to go after him and Lady Xuanyu calls out, "Leave him be! He's doing what I said."
Lan Wangji hesitates, but nods and finally descends to join them. He towers over Lady Xuanyu, looking down at her with a fierce glare that makes Sizhui cringe even though it's not directed towards him. "What happened?"
"Found Xiao Xingchen, found Xue Yang, Song Lan killed him," she says, not even so much as lowering her eyes. "Xue Yang, not Xiao Xingchen, obviously. Wasn't this guy supposed to be killed during the war or something? It was a little before my time, so to speak."
"Song Lan is unharmed and you are not," his father says, lifting a hand to press it against the sluggishly bleeding wound in her shoulder.
Lady Xuanyu hisses at the contact but doesn't pull away. "He's a more experienced cultivator. Give me a couple hours and they'll be all closed up."
It used to take days for Lady Xuanyu's golden core to heal anything more complicated than a paper cut. She's strengthened it to the point that what would have been weeks of healing is reduced to just a day.
"He should have protected you," Sizhui says stubbornly. He'd rather she didn't have to heal at all. "Why did you run off with him anyway?"
"Had a hunch and figured I'd be back before you noticed," she says. Jingyi sputters. "Also, I don't need him to protect me, geez. He's a more experienced cultivator, but I still am one. I've gotten more hurt in training."
It's true, but Sizhui doesn't like that either. To harm ones body without cause is against the rules. Perhaps it's not entirely without cause, considering her rapid growth, but none of their teachers had ever beat them as badly as she demands the disciples beat her, and their cores had all turned out fine.
"What hunch did you have?" his father asks.
She winces and says, "Oh, you know, womanly intuition."
It's a lie and not even a very good one.
Lan Wangji's eyes narrow but they're interrupted by Song Lan returning with two people balanced precariously on his sword. Sizhui assumes the other man clad all in white must be Xiao Xingchen but doesn't know who the blind girl that looks to be about his age is.
"Xuanyu!" the girl calls out joyously, causing him to reevaluate his assessment of blind. She's being awfully familiar with his step mother. The girl leaps from the sword before it's fully on the ground and goes running towards them, shoulder pass Lan Wangji to body slam into Lady Xuanyu. "You're still alive, right? You said you would be!"
Lady Xuanyu laughs, closing her arms around the girl's shoulders. Her shoulder is bleeding again now that his father isn't keeping pressure on it. Cant the girl see that she's injured? "Yes, yes, I'm still alive. Excellent work keeping Xiao Xingchen out of the fray, A-Qing. I knew I could depend on you."
The girl - A-Qing, apparently - glows under the praise, beaming up at Lady Xuanyu, still with her arms around her waist.
What's her problem anyway?

For your entertainment, the opening of the next ex-twitter project I'm hoping to finish before the year is out.

As Jin Ling -with help from a visiting Ouyang Zizhen- is digging through all the stuff left behind by his uncle and grandfather's shadier practices, he comes across a mirror that looks a lot like the one that leads to the hidden treasure room, only it's much newer and smaller, only big enough for one person to pass through at a time.
It works just the same, though.
So, dragging Zizhen by the hand to keep the mirror from separating them, Jin Ling pushes through and finds a circular-shaped room.
No, it's a circular-shaped building, the one room being its only room.
And it has no door.
There is a bed between its two windows and a few empty shelves lining the wall, the make of the furniture entirely unfamiliar to either of them.
They check the windows and find they've been heavily warded, and some kind of power they're not willing to investigate too deeply radiates from the bed.
Concerned, they decide to contact Wei Wuxian, who of course brings his little Lan entourage with him.
Examining the furniture and the wards, Wei Wuxian begins to get a little rock of unease in his stomach. The Juniors might not recognize the carving style of the furniture, but that's because they've never seen any of the family quarters in the Unclean Realms.
And the wards and lack of any doors...
He investigates the array carved into the floor under the bed and the wards up its frame.
Anyone laid in it would be almost instantly placed into an inedia coma with the slightest infusion of qi, and the array is designed to re-circulate that energy, meaning it could run for a very long time without having to be reactivated.
He hears Lan Jingyi and Ouyang Zizhen muttering to each other near one of the shelves.
"-yeah, I remember her, but that was a house-house. With guards and alarms and stuff," Jingyi says.
"But she was a normal lady," Zizhen replies. "What if you wanted to hide away a cultivator?"
Normally, Wei Wuxian loves how clever their ducklings are, but right now, he hopes they don't reach the same conclusion that he has.
He trades glances with Lan Zhan and can see that his brilliant husband has also picked up on his worries.
This is a cage that has been designed for one bird in particular.
Maybe... maybe it's best that they simply destroy it without telling Nie Huaisang about its existence.
And maybe it's best that he backs off on his jibes about "paranoia" on Nie Huaisang's part in the future, if this is just a small sample of the kinds of things he had to fear in the years Wei Wuxian was dead.
This is how it went in one timeline. 
In another, Nie Huaisang did indeed get caught and Jin Guangyao sealed him away in an inedia coma so he couldn't keep interfering.

The devotion of a Lan and why Lan Xichen will never marry
(unless that person is Jin Guangyao)
From the likes of Lan An down to Lan Wangji, the Lan, at times tragic, were deeply romantic and always faithful. It’s hard to consider love at first sight to be a genetic trait, but the evidence doesn’t lie. Not a single Lan married a person they did not love. Not a single Lan moved on after the loss of their soulmate.
Lan Forehead Ribbon
The mark of a Lan is their forehead ribbon. At first glance, it is a symbol of self-control. In actuality, it is a blatant declaration of wild passion. The ribbon which represents the obligation to regulate oneself, can only be removed by a destined one? Isn’t this just another way of saying, the three thousands rules are to contain us, for in the name of our soulmate AND ONLY for our soulmate, we observe no laws, no bonds, no morals? The Lan follow the dao, but not even the intentions and punishments of heaven can hold them back from their Destined One. 
The Lan are kind and just to everyone. The woman who crosses the street. The child who begs for alms. The man who nearly drowns. They are all the same, no more, no less deserving of help. The world is a calm and reassuring beige, every tragedy of equal hue and intensity, every joy a drop of water in a deep well. 
Only the Instance of Lan is that great disturbance in their life. A warmth worth suffering for.
It’s fascinating to look at all the joy and pain that love brought the Lan. 
And the singular way they dealt with loss.
Lan concept of love
The common process of the Lan romance is a strong initial first spark. Love at first sight (or first fight for Lan Wangji). 
After that comes devotion. Devotion during life is to seek to be with the other. Lan An and Qingheng-jun married their Destined Ones. Lan Xichen would disappear for months at a time to see Jin Guangyao. Lan Wangji tried his best, appearing at the burial mounds in Wei Wuxian’s first life, but was chased away time and again. In his second life, he drags Wei Wuxian back to the Cloud Recesses and follows him on his adventures. The first part of devotion is to keep your north pointed towards your soulmate.
The second part, is to not hurt others, or involve third parties. The ability to refuse to marry, unless that person is the one you love, is quite admirable. There will never be a Jiang Fengmian in the Lan family, someone who marries a woman he doesn’t love and causes both family and wife to be subject to rumors and mockery, children to self-doubt and insecurity. No Lan marries for convenience. They marry out of love or not at all. It must be reassuring to such a deeply romantic family, to not have to be forced by their elders into loveless matches. (Otherwise, before asking Lan Xichen to marry, Lan Qiren would be served to platter.) Lan Xichen already anticipates this and treats Lan Jingyi as heir. 
Then at the end, after your Fated One passes away, the Lan leave too.
The founder of the Sect set a poignant example for all of his descendent after. Lan An left the monastery for the love of his life and returned to the mountain, leaving not even dust behind after they left. 
Lan Yi, in the Untamed has a hinted romance with Baoshan Sanren. While she did not witness her lover die, she never married another person. She also spent the rest of her days in seclusion.
Qingheng-jun fell in love at first sight and stood against sect and world to marry and protect her. He paid for her ‘sins’ as if they were his. And after she died, he did not leave seclusion until his death during the war.
The current Sect Leader, Lan Xichen also went into retreat after the love of his life died. And he will never leave unless Jin Guangyao returns, or in pursuit of Jin Guangyao’s return.
Not even Lan Wangji was an exception. Sometimes people will say that he moved on with his life after Wei Wuxian’s life, citing his night hunts as an example. But actually, Lan Wangji ‘appeared wherever there was chaos.’ Why? Because he was looking for Wei Wuxian. Because he wanted to be there if Wei Wuxian found himself in trouble (which Lan Wangji was right, Wei Wuxian nearly gets dragged back to Lotus Pier immediately). Lan Wangji never ‘moved on.’ He was waiting. He was searching. Why was it so easy for him to accept Wei Wuxian had returned from the dead? Because he was hoping it would happen. Wei Wuxian had already ‘died’ in the eyes of the world once before, when he was kicked into the Yiling Burial Mounds by the Wen. But! Wei Wuxian returned stronger than ever, albeit with literal ghosts, but he was back all the same.
He was different than his father and ancestors. He was lucky to love the Yiling Laozu. Wei Wuxian was exceptional. He proved the dead could return--sentient! Why did Lan Wangji have to live as dead when his heart had not died?
Lan Xichen will never remarry. Because he’s already married. The moment he looked into the eyes of his savior amidst the flames of war, his ribbon found an owner. Why would he marry when his clan will not ask it of him? Why did he raise Lan Jingyi like his heir, a child whose entitlement and sass can only be rivaled by Jin Ling? A child who is capable of being rude to Sect Leaders with out repercussion? A child who oozes the confidence of someone loved, respected, and of high rank, when he is a supposed orphan? Because he is the heir Lan Xichen prepared when he realized he had already found the love of his life. 
And the love of his life had married a woman. But that is irrelevant in the face of the Love of a Lan. It does not matter if the other party does not love me (Qingheng-jun, I’m squinting at you; Lan Wangji who asks what is to be done when the person he wants to protect refuses to return with him), what matters is that I love them. And that they do not want my ribbon, does not make it any less theirs (when Lan Xichen cancels the permission of the jade order, but tells Jin Guangyao that it still belongs to him). 
Why did he, after the death of Jin Guangyao, retreat as Lan An did for his Fated One, as Qingheng-jun did for his wife, as a Lan does for his soulmate?
And why, do we find it tragic?  
Lan Xichen before Jin Guangyao was untouched by worldly emotions. Because of Jin Guangyao, he descended from the dais and was made human. 
Lan An cultivated in the monastery, because of his Destined One, he went down the mountain. When that person left, he left too. 
All he did was return from whence he came.
While I believe Lan Xichen will open the coffin because even if he does not want to, the Lan owe Jin Guangyao, a life in seclusion is not to be pitied.

I love a Master Meng, exalted across the world. The beauty abandoned his post, to rest white-haired in seclusion. Often drinking under the moon, preferring flowers to the king. To the mountain I long to reach, this disciple can only bow here.

Liu Haikuan, the actor who portrayed Lan Xichen in the Untamed, said in an interview, that Lan Xichen will never leave seclusion without Jin Guangyao.
Zhu Zanjin, the actor who portrayed Jin Guangyao in the Untamed, said that the relationship between Lan Xichen and JIn Guangyao is the same as that between Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. 
The Lan through their now 4000 precepts, have bound themselves with rule after rule with only one release. And because of this Destined One, descend to become mortal, and without them, return to the mountain.
Lan Xichen has proven through layers and layers of Lan patterns that his soulmate is Jin Guangyao and this soulmate was worth it.

modern au mdzs driving style headcanons - junior quartet edition!
Part 1
Lan Sizhui - he got his license first out of the quartet since he’s the oldest. He gets most of his driving style from Lan Wangji and Xichen, who gave him most of his lessons, but he is also extremely skilled at multitasking (taught unintentionally by wei wuxian of course) and often has just his left hand on the wheel while the other is dealing with nonsense from his passengers. Like Xichen, he really enjoys the ride when he’s driving alone and can relax with his music. When the whole quartet is there tho he Hates being the driver bc it limits his ability to safely mediate. This is why he’s relieved when zizhen gets his license the next month
Ouyang Zizhen - the designated driver of the group once he gets his license! He’s secretly had early driving lessons from his older siblings and is already comfortable behind the wheel by the time he starts driving legally. He isn’t greedy with the aux thanks to his experience with his siblings, and prefers to pass his phone around and let the gang add songs to the playlist. When zizhen is driving the quartet, jin ling MUST be in the front seat bc he and jingyi are not allowed to sit in the backseat alone together (this became an unspoken rule after one singular disastrous incident)
Lan Jingyi - Jingyi is a good driver! He is, ok?! Just cuz he’s got a bit of a lead foot and tends to swerve a bit too far into the next lane now and then bc he’s talking doesn’t necessarily make him a bad driver. He’s never even been in an accident (yet?). That’s what zizhen and sizhui are there for anyway (jin ling is not allowed in the passenger seats when jingyi is driving, see above) zizhen will occasionally wordlessly grab the wheel to steer them back in their lane and sizhui will gently repeat aloud “speed” and tap his shoulder when he notices they’re going a lil too fast
Jin Ling - he’s the baby of the group, he can’t drive! Jiang cheng and wei wuxian have been trying to give him lessons in preparation for his license test and it’s going Bad for different reasons with each of them, so zizhen is secretly giving him lessons in his own car when it’s just the two of them. Jin ling is secretly self conscious about being the only one without his license and watches everyone’s driving habits closely, trying them out hiself with no style of him own yet

I love trans Jin Ling but I specifically love trans Jin Ling in a way where Jingyi calls him Young Mistress and Jin Ling rightfully gets pissed about it, but as time passes and the two become totally-not-friends-shut-up the name changes and Jin Ling actually sort of starts to definitely-not-like-it because he knows Jingyi doesn’t mean it like that and anyway it’s Jin Ling’s gender and he gets to decide how precious he wants to be about it.
Then Jingyi finds out Jin Ling is trans and he is appalled. He’s been? Misgendering him?? This entire time??? He didn’t know he didn’t mean to. He presents himself to the disciplinary pavilion for punishment and refuses to tell the disciple in charge the specifics of why he needs to be punished but he’s insistent that it’s A Big Deal and ends up kneeling in the courtyard for days, because the least-Lan Lan who ever lived is still, at his core, a Lan.
When Jin Ling asks what Jingyi got in trouble for this time Sizhui just does that Thing where he’s not rolling his eyes but somehow radiating exasperation and tells Jin Ling not to even worry about it, Jingyi is being dramatic, and Jin Ling lets it go only to notice, weeks later, that Jingyi no longer calls him Young Mistress.
Nothing else about their dynamic has changed. Jingyi is still the worst, and Jin Ling still endures it with all the grace, poise, and long-suffering patience expected of a man of his status, and if he does occasionally very rarely slip up just a little bit and express a totally reasonable amount of frustration with Lan Jingyi’s Everything then that’s still Jingyi’s fault because Jingyi was provoking him and Jin Ling has a responsibility to his clan and sect to defend his honor and therefor that of the Jin at large!
The only thing that’s different is that one, stupid name. And Jin Ling doesn’t care about it! Of course he doesn’t! Why should he even be curious about changed? He isn’t curious! It doesn’t matter to him At All!
Anyway other Plot happens and then they both do eventually end up in a situation where it comes up and Jingyi explains that he found out Jin Ling was trans and felt like a great big piece of shit because there’s bullying and there’s bullying and he has never once wanted to be that kind of person, and Jin Ling confesses that actually he kind of liked it before because he knew that Jingyi wasn’t trying to treat him like less of man, he was just being a jerk, and it felt easy and playful and dumb, and...
And Jiujiu used to say that Jin Ling looked like his mother. Not -- not a lot, not like, identical to her or anything, but. But that little girl he used to be, she was... unhappy, most of the time, for a lot of reasons, and he doesn’t regret... letting her sleep. He doesn’t regret burying her. But Jiujiu seemed almost relieved to have her gone, to not constantly be looking at a reminder of the sister he misses so much, and Jin Ling obviously is endlessly grateful for his uncle’s support and validation and he’s so much more comfortable in his body now and he never wants to be that little girl again, but. Sometimes, he feels like, maybe someone should mourn her. Like maybe there should be someone who... not wanted her back, really, but was still... aware that she was gone, and... was grateful for what she did. Respected the sacrifice she made, so that Jin Ling could be Jin Ling. There should be somebody who knew she existed, and thought of her fondly, on occasion.
And Jingyi looks at Jin Ling for a long, long moment, and says “Okay, Young Mistress. I can do that.”

I think it would be very funny if Sizhui becomes best friends with Jingyi during his first year of college, but discovers — horrified —that he is a die-hard fan of his dad, famous singer Lan Wangji. I'm talking about running a very famous fan account in social media, creating fanart (thank the heavens it was not nsfw or Sizhui would have jumped from their dorm window) and buying all the albums.
Sizhui doesn't know what to do. He can’t talk bad about his dad in hopes of squashing his best friend's crush, because he loves his dad too much to create fake scandals, and he can't tell Jingyi either because 1) he doesn't want to be treated differently and 2) he has seen the altar Jingyi has dedicated to his dad in one corner of their room, telling the truth would be mortifying to both. 
So for months he stays silent. Since he has to keep the secret, he has to either cancel the video calls with his dad or sneak to be able to take them somewhere else. It is so inconvenient, and it makes him sad, he truly misses his dad and now he can’t even talk to him regularly. On top of all that, he has to put up with Jingyi's rants about his father's music or try to pretend he doesn't want to die every time his friend says goodnight to the big poster of his dad he had hung near their desks
Meanwhile, Lan Wangji is heart-broken, he thinks his son wants nothing to do with him now that he's away. He decides to give him his space. He's almost an adult after all, and besides, Lan Wangji is on tour, he is also very busy. He decides to focus on his shows.
One day however, he notices Sizhui looks sick (he got a cold) and very tired, so he decides to make a quick trip to see him, even though he still has shows to attend. Lan Wangji shows up in their dorm out of nowhere (disguised as to not be recognized).
Jingyi is ready to pass out when he sees who is standing at their door, but at the same time is trying desperately to hide the altar. He's scream whispering "A-Yuan come help!” When Sizhui walks to see what’s the fuss about, he freezes in place, the same surprised expression in his face reflected in his father's.
He takes a deep breath and decides he has had enough. 
“Hello ba!” He greets. Jingyi looks frantically between them and promptly passes out. When he wakes up, he is mortified, but also very offended that Sizhui didn't tell him before. He could have met his crush. Er. Favorite singer. Sooner! And get vip tickets!
It's a terrible awkward evening for the three of them, but at least now Sizhui no longer has to hide information from his best friend, or cancel calls with his dad. Jingyi tries to tone down his fan behavior but we all know that's impossible. When Lan Wangji releases new songs he demands Sizhui calls his dad to ask about the meaning of a certain sentence Jingyi cannot decipher. And yes, he does get vip access to all the concerts he wants

OH YES, YES I DO. ✨
I’ll start with the one who’s obviously the best at handling mornings:
• Lan Sizhui
He’s the unofficial leader of the ducklings, so of course he’d be up at 5am sharp with zero complaints but he’d also be the one waking the others up if they sleep in, not to annoy them but to make sure they don’t get in trouble.
The majority of the time, he wakes up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day but I do headcanon that he occasionally tries to stay up a little late to read, study or practice guqin and there’s just some mornings where he wishes he could sleep in—because let’s be real, no matter who you are, we all have those days.
• Lan Jingyi
He wakes up at 5 for two reasons: food and because he has to. Otherwise, he’d definitely wake up at the crack of noon and eat chicken for breakfast every morning if he could.
Unfortunately, no matter how long he’s been waking up at the same time, his internal alarm clock just doesn’t set for 5. Usually, Lan Sizhui finds him sprawled out on his bed like a starfish with his mouth hanging open, still very much passed out and has to shake him awake at the last minute to save him from their seniors—even if that means smacking him with a pillow or pushing him off the bed.

Oh, my dear sweet Zizhen. He’s literally Nie Huaisang with a filter. He won’t complain, but he definitely doesn’t want to wake up at 5. He rises like a zombie on the verge of tears, rolls out of bed like a sloth and falls back asleep at breakfast.
Lan Sizhui has to keep waking him up so he gets a chance to eat his food before Lan Jingyi tries to steal it, despite getting smacked on the hand with Lan Sizhui’s chopsticks every time.
• Jin Ling
God save whoever wakes up our Prince of peonies because he is not a morning person in the slightest. The only one who can even attempt to wake him up without risking injury is Lan Sizhui and even then, Jin Ling hates him for it.
But he knows Lan Sizhui is only looking out for him, so gets up and sits in bed with the blanket wrapped around him, staring at the wall with puffy, murderous eyes for several minutes before begrudgingly getting ready for the day.
He doesn’t talk to anyone before he’s had his tea, and anyone who tries to talk to him before he’s had his tea?
May they rest in peace. 🪦🙏 (RIP Jingyi)

written for day 4 of zukki week (relationship negotiations) but this is a part of my pirate au (which is day 5) so i guess take it however you want (be warned that no actual piracy is done)
A few good seconds passed, none of them knowing how to broach the topic. Suki's eyes glassed over with a practiced calm. She should have thought of what to say. She should have known what to say. They'd already danced around it for too long, and it was a miracle they even took the time to sit down to discuss it like adults.
Sokka closed the door to Yue's quarters — the only place on the ship even remotely private — behind the three of them. Suki, plenty familiar with the space, flopped on the bed like it was the most natural thing she could do, while Zuko hovered over her with uneasy, fleeting eyes, before taking a seat beside her slowly, like there was a possibility the bedsheet might burn his ass off. Suki patted her thigh, motioning for Sokka to join them, and he settled with his back against the wall, with his knee pressed to her hip.
In the end, Zuko was the one to break the silence. He was always the blunt one, the one to rip the bandage off and get it over with as fast as possible. "I don't think this is a good idea." 'This' being them, of course. His eyes were set on the blanket Aang had gifted Yue, a poorly knitted thing, well loved by their captain if the rumpled state it was in at the end of the bed was anything to go by.
Daring a look at Sokka, she found him already looking at her. He was expecting — hoping? — she would contradict Zuko, that she would come up with an argument, a sensible solution, an emotionally intelligent response that would prove him wrong.
Could she really when she couldn't help but agree with him?
She averted her eyes.
Sokka'd always been a hopeless romantic.
"Maybe the two of you could make it work, but. I have a responsibility after the war is over, whether I like it or not," Zuko continued after a beat. Right. He would go back to the Fire Nation and fix the damage done by the war as best as one person could and put his country back in the good graces of the world.
After finding out that his uncle wouldn't become the Firelord, Zuko shut down on them, despite respecting his decision. When he betrayed the Fire Nation officially, he gave up on the thought of one day leading his country to greatness. By the time he joined them, he deemed himself inadequate to repair years of propaganda and colonialism. He spiraled into self-doubt for a good few weeks before the crew had a sit down and properly planned how to tackle the issue of the Fire Nation. Now, he seemed to be motivated by this responsibility.
Despite his reluctance, there was a fire in his eyes she couldn't help but look at longingly.
Suki sighed. "I'm not even sure what I'll do after this is all over. Logically, I would go back home and train the next generation of Kyoshi Warriors." Thoughts of Kyoshi Island flowed through her, from before she met Sokka and Katara, from before Zuko's rogue crew found them, before Zhao's destruction touched them. She thought of Hidemi and Shufen and their little Shigeo and Jingyi, who probably wasn't so little anymore, of the warriors' quarters, of food and mountains and unagi. She thought of loneliness and feeling othered, of the elders' decision to refuse aid, which almost led to starvation, of feeling useless in the grand scheme of things. "I don't know, though," she ended softly.
Something heavy settled over Sokka, a sort of finality, a hopelessness she didn't want to think she and Zuko tainted him with. "Yeah, I want to help rebuild my village, maybe even try out for chief after dad retires. I know Katara would have wanted to if Aang didn't put that wanderlust in her, so. Gotta seize the chance before she changes her mind." It felt a little like he was trying to convince himself. To what? To not throw away his future so he could... so he could be with them? She avoided looking at him, again, feeling a sort of shame at her thoughts.
They all avoided looking at each other, still not bringing themselves to say it, instead excusing themselves from the conversation by voicing everything standing between them.
It was kind of pathetic.
Sokka would have said it. He already talked to Yue, and even if Suki didn't know how it went down, she knew Sokka, and how much he felt and how hard it was to keep pushing it down. She knew Yue, and she knew she needed time to find herself, to find the world after living her whole life in a birdcage.
Maybe Suki just needed time, too.
The thought of leaving it all behind and just traveling to her heart's content, of breaking out of the isolationism installed in her by the Kyoshi Island made her feel strangely guilty. The war would end, but it wouldn't truly be over. Healing took a long time and a lot of effort, and starting back up again when it felt like it was all falling apart. She was supposed to be there and help, it was part of her duty as a leader and someone her people looked up to.
But oh, how tempting it was to fuck it all and join Yue, to take her place as her second when everyone would leave to fix their homes into a new normal, to discover everything again by her side like two children falling in love with the outside.
It was a selfish thing to want.
Duty was a hard thing to bear.
"I do... I do like you two. A bit more than I'm comfortable with," she braved out, feeling her heart in her throat. If Sokka could do it, she could. She could face her feelings and get it over with, and maybe after that, she could sleep for the next hundred years like Aang.
"Uhm... me too." Somehow, Zuko surprised her every time. His face was red as a shrimp lobster, the words sounded clawed out, and he frankly looked like he'd rather be anywhere but there, but it was a step forward.
Sokka buried his face in his hands, letting out a whimper. She patted his thigh in sympathy. Taking a deep breath, he uncovered his face, though his eyes were still closed. "I am in love with you!" he raised his voice, loud and clear, as if fearing they wouldn't hear him.
She knew. She knew, but it still felt like a punch in the gut, and warmth began traveling to her head, threatening to boil her brain straight out of her ears. Zuko was in a similar situation, looking at Sokka with big incredulous eyes.
That knowledge had sat in the back of her mind like a coiling snake waiting to strike when she was most vulnerable, but for some time she'd just put the lid over the pot, knowing it wasn't the right time (it would never be the right time). The intensity at which Sokka was able to feel always shocked her.
Tears began pooling rapidly in her eyes, and, in a fit of panic, she slapped Sokka's thigh as hard as she was able in that state.
"Hey! What was that for?" he howled, finally opening his eyes.
"For-for just saying that like that! Jerk!" Zuko snarled in her place, very eloquently, but she agreed wholeheartedly. Being loved was hard to hear, and even harder to accept. She was surprised he didn't straight up punch Sokka for just blurting it out when they barely managed to say they liked each other.
"You're a jerk, jerk," Sokka pouted, rubbing the place she hit him.
"So what do we do now?" Now that it was out in the open, Suki found herself at a loss. The duties that awaited them after the war weighed down hard on their shoulders, with seemingly no future for the three of them together without sacrificing something much grander than themselves.
Zuko, somber as always, pointed out, "There is a possibility one of us might not come back alive."
"I really don't want to think about that right now, Zuko."
Suki sighed, feeling the weight of the world settling on her chest.
"Are we willing to get attached when we know it won't work?" Like it was a certainty that no matter what they would do, it would end in heartbreak.
"Aren't we already?"
Well. Sokka was right, once again.

pt1 of a new fic! / also on AO3 During a Night Hunt, Lan Xichen sees something he wasn't supposed to, forcing him to reconsider the way things stand between him and Nie Huaisang.
The city was a lively one to begin with, reputed for its bamboo artisans who made use of one of the northernmost forests in the country. Instead of merchants and buyers, though, the streets were currently filled with cultivators. Nearly every sect was represented, and there were quite a few rogue cultivators as well, looking for a chance to make a name for themselves.
“I don’t see anyone from the Nie sect,” Lan Yahui remarked, which earned him a look from Lan Xichen.
They had all given up on teaching Lan Jingyi to hold his tongue, but there was still hope for his younger brother, and this could be a learning opportunity for him.
“They might have arrived early and already be in the forest,” Lan Xichen told the boys gathered around him. “Or they might be talking with the local authorities to have more details on those people who disappeared and the circumstances around it. Just because you do not see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there, and either way it is not something to publicly remark on.”
Lan Yahui blushed at the light scolding, and fell silent. Lan Xichen wondered if he had been too harsh. He was still trying to find his footing again after that two years long seclusion. Although nearly half a year had passed since he’d rejoined the world, he still often felt awkward, especially around his sect’s junior disciples. What right had he to teach them, when he’d shown himself so unworthy of trust?
Lan Xichen suspected that this was the reason why his uncle had requested that he oversee the juniors for this particular Night Hunt, in spite of its proximity to Qinghe. Or rather, one of the reasons, the other being his uncle’s sentimentality, since Lan Xichen hadn’t dared tell him that there would be no friendship between the Nie and Lan clans in the foreseeable future. Not for lack of trying on Lan Xichen’s part. But the past simply couldn’t be changed.
“Sect leader, should we investigate in town as well?” one boy asked, forcing Lan Xichen out of his thoughts.
“What do you think?”
The boys glanced at one another, all of them unsure. They were young, the oldest not fifteen, but from what Lan Xichen had been told about this case, they should be safe. The majority of people who had disappeared had been adults his own age or older, so whatever was attacking this area had little interest in children.
“When Hanguang-Jun took us on a Night Hunt last time, Wei-qianbei said it’s important to have all the information,” Lan Yahui mumbled. “He said, sometimes people will mention important details, so it’s good to ask them even if you think you know everything.”
The other boys nervously glanced at him. It was clear that they’d all thought the same, but none of them had wanted to be the one to mention Wei Wuxian in front of a Lan senior. It was not an unwise attitude. Lan Xichen himself had made peace with the way things were after seeing how devoted Wei Wuxian was to the husband he’d never meant to hurt as much as he did. But his forgiveness and joy for his brother was not widely shared by Lan elders.
“A good lesson to teach you,” Lan Xichen agreed. “The local magistrate sent a letter giving a general idea of what happened here, but few details. Let us try asking someone close to one of the victims.”
Lan Yahui instantly relaxed upon finding that he hadn’t said anything wrong this time. Briefly, Lan Xichen wondered if it was right to encourage those children to trust Wei Wuxian, but he managed to end that train of thought before he could start doubting the morality of every action he took. With those children under his responsibility, he had no time for doubt.
Having decided a course of action, the boys started their investigation, Lan Xichen trailing behind them to make sure they behaved appropriately. What they found was mostly what they already knew: for some months, people who entered the nearby bamboo forest alone would not always come back. The attacks only concerned people going alone, except for one widower who had disappeared while his young daughter was with him. The toddler had been found wandering the next day, but she’d been too young to give any information, and she now lived with her grandparents in another town.
“What have we learned?” Lan Xichen asked the boy when he felt the investigation had gone on long enough.
“Those who disappeared were all sad people,” Lan Yahui immediately replied.
“Common people live hard lives,” Lan Xichen explained, amused by the boy’s impression. “It is different from what you know, but it isn’t necessarily joyless.”
The boy blushed, but didn’t back down. “Sect leader, they really were sad!” he insisted. “Two were widows, and there was that widower, and when we were leaving that last house, the old lady told her husband their son hadn’t been the same since his friend left for the army. And then the first house, they still had the tablet on a small altar for someone, and fresh offerings on it, but that old man was living alone before he vanished. Wouldn’t they all have been sad, then?”
“That was very observant of you,” Lan Xichen replied. “I hadn’t noticed it. It might have made them more vulnerable indeed. Luckily, none of us have that issue, so we shouldn’t be targeted. But it might also make it harder to find the source of these disappearances if we aren’t interesting to it. Any other remarks?”
Other boys suggested a few things, now that Lan Yahui had opened the way with something odd and didn’t get scolded. None of it really brought anything new to the case, but the boys were proud to have confirmed what they’d heard before. Lan Xichen, for his part, had only noticed one thing the entire time: although the people they talked to mentioned meeting members of a few other sects, not a single one spoke of Qinghe Nie. It truly appeared they had decided to pass on that Night Hunt. It proved a greater relief than Lan Xichen had expected. Perhaps he was less comfortable with Nie Huaisang’s rejection some months earlier than he’d thought.
Again, Lan Xichen forced himself to push those thoughts away. It was neither the time nor the place for it. The juniors were there for a reason, and he had to be the guidance and protection they needed.
After a brief meal at the inn where they’d taken rooms, the Lan juniors and their sect leader headed out toward the bamboo forest. They entered it later than most cultivators who had come to investigate the disappearances, so Lan Xichen had little hope they would be the ones to solve the case. Still, even an unsuccessful Night Hunt would bring its own learning opportunities. Watching the group of boys, he had already noticed a few things that he would mention to their teachers, in good and in bad.
It was pleasant and calm in the bamboo forest, a stark contrast to the series of tragic events that had occurred there. On Lan Xichen’s instructions, the boys walked in silence and stayed close together, going ahead from him so he could keep an eye on all of them at once. The quiet atmosphere, combined with Lan Xichen’s certainty that other cultivators would solve the case, lulled them into a sense of safety. They were thus taken by surprise when a thick fog rolled down on them, taking away their visibility in an instant.
“Keep close, hold hands, stay where you are!” Lan Xichen ordered as the boys disappeared from view.
They were only a few steps ahead from him, and it should have been easy to cross that distance to join them. Yet when Lan Xichen attempted to do so, he met nothing but bamboo and empty air, while his voice echoed in vain the more he tried to call out for the boys.
Realising they were nowhere near him, Lan Xichen stopped walking and considered his situation. From what they had learned in town, it was unlikely that the children were in serious danger. They were in a group, and they were all cheerful boys, grown in a peaceful world that had preserved them from the losses and tragedy his own generation had already encountered at that age. Nothing that could tempt a creature targeting exclusively lonely and melancholic people.
Meanwhile Lan Xichen was now on his own, and still burdened with loss and regrets after a lifetime of mistakes. If anyone was at risk, it was him more than the juniors. Not that it terribly worried them. No matter what doubts he harboured about himself, Lan Xichen trusted his own strength and skill in battle.
As he wandered inside the misty forest, Lan Xichen did not bother calling out for the children. If they were around, he was sure they would make enough noise to be noticed. Meanwhile, if he kept shouting, it would only signal his position to whatever had caused the mist in the first place. It was thus in perfect silence that he advanced, careful to keep his steps light so even that noise wouldn’t betray him. Around him, a light wind rustled the bamboo, until suddenly even that sound stopped. Lan Xichen had stepped into a clearing.
As he wondered whether to explore it or retreat among the trees, the silence was disturbed by whispers a little way ahead. The voice was faint, not because of a great distance between them, Lan Xichen guessed, but because the person speaking was purposefully quiet. It was likely a trap, but one Lan Xichen felt he could safely let himself fall into, if it could help him put an end to those mysterious disappearances. Walking toward the voice, he was only sorry that the juniors would not be able to get fighting experience after all.
As he got closer, Lan Xichen spotted a silhouette within the mist. Another step, and he realised there were in fact two people there, one holding the other in their arms, leaving no space between the two bodies. Before he could be embarrassed to have stumbled upon two lovers instead of a monster, the taller silhouette spoke again.
“Don’t be sad, my love,” that person said. “There’s no need to be sad anymore. I’m with you. I love you. Everything will be fine now.”
Being now close enough to better hear, Lan Xichen was startled to find he could recognise that voice.
After all, it was his own.

He ought to let go of his dark thoughts for now. It wouldn't be a good idea to let his mask slip, even if no one called him “Headshaker" no more, not every one knew the monster that lurked behind it.
The innkeeper brought his bottle, leaving right after with a quick bow, rushing to tend to other tables, the place too busy for him to keep all his attention on Huaisang.

He had chosen to wear more discreet robes today, but still, there weren’t many cultivators that kept a saber instead of a sword, and even fewer ones that carried a fan like he did. With these two things combined, it wasn’t hard to identify him if one knew what to look for. And people knew what to look for.

That's precisely the reason why he sat on the far back of the room, not to hide himself, he knew it was useless to try to do so, but to have an ounce of privacy while he waited. If one thing he learned from his revenge was that the Cultivation world was worse than old ladies with gossip; no Sect Leader could sneeze without it being the hot topic for the week. At some point, he had started to fan himself again, slowly sipping his wine, watching the room emptying as time passed by.

He wasn’t hunting ghosts but hunting nonetheless and would do him no good to expose himself early in the game.
Finally, when he had almost lost hope and left the inn, the room dove into silence, followed by a flood of talking. Whispers of “Lan-gongzi” spread like fire, even so he kept his eyes away from the striking figure dressed in white and blue, pretending not to see him walking straight towards Nie Huaisang's table.

Hn. Maybe finishing a second bottle hasn't been the best idea, he thought as he tried to ignore the tingle in his fingers, the heat burning his stomach. He knew better than to drink so much, especially Emperor's Smile, it left him in a bad mood, resentment dripping from him like a summer rain, but he could only stand so much of Caiyi Town without alcohol to cope.

Nie Huaisang took a moment to look at the Lan disciple in front of him, keeping his movements sluggish, an aloof smile on his lips. He didn't get up, but he tilted his body deeply forward as a sign of respect.

“Lan-gongzi,” he answered back, gesturing for the other to sit down. “What an honorable surprise. Would you like some tea? This inn has a lovely blend, I believe it is Zewu-jun's favorite.”

The flinch was so honest that Nie Huaisang almost felt bad for the boy. Well, not actually a boy anymore. The kid had grown up to be a fine man, and probably he would be a very good Sect Leader, some day from what Huaisang had heard.

“Nie-zongzhu, with all due respect, I only came here to understand the meaning of this,” then he threw a sheet of paper on the table, the good quality and weight making it land on the wood with a soft thump. Huaisang stared as his own handwriting, not bothering to read the content but searching for any clues of it being altered somehow. Not that he believed that any person from the Lan Clan would do anything to it. It would certainly break at least ten rules if they did so. But. Well.

And that's all for NHS pos Canon! Where am I going with this? No idea! Was I planning to add poor Lan Jingyi to NHS mess? Nope! But I love him and I wanna try my hand at a more mature LJY.
BTW, MDZS has a lot of honorifics and cultural aspects that I only know from watching the live action and the animation. I did a lot of research, but this is my first time writing for the fandom. If I need to change anything or if there's any Mandarin/cultural mistakes, please let me know!

MDZS Chapter 2 - The Intractable (apparently chapters 2-5(Aggression)) - Manhua Ch 2-12

Alright, again starting with the manhua here because holy shit does Mo Ziyuan just come in busting the door down with this! Oh man, what a guy.
I have nothing intelligent to say about this but oh boy.

So like two things I appreciate the manhua for in this page, which I've so, uh, cut up to show off. Number one, cute lil guys. That's a cute lil guy up there. And number two, the emotion in that face? Like it's not a big picture it's just like, a lil face but you can see it. It's a little more than just sad boy up there. Goes hard, like Mo Zixyuan bursting into the room.
"Adding frost to snow, something had upset Mo Xuanyu. When he returned home, it was as a madman. His mental state had been upended, as if he had been scared silly"
I'm keeping this quote. I'm not commenting on it or anything. Just putting it there.
"After Mo Xuanyu returned to his old home, he was bombarded with ridicule. This time, it seemed, the situation was unsalvageable. Unable to take this blow, Second Lady Mo was choked to death by her own unappeasable outrage."
Now this I feel I need to comment on? Mo Xuanyu's mother didn't die until after Mo Xuanyu was sent back home? She 'choked to death on outrage'? Is that a thing? I feel like that's not a thing.
There's a lot of exposition here, on Wei Wuxian and the Mo family but uh. That kinda stands out. To me. MXY was sent home to his mother, not just her relatives, like, she was there.
Oh, and number three thing I like about the manhua?

Mo Ziyuan/Mo Xuanyu is apparently not even a tag on AO3. Damn. I think I originally had a point to say about WWX here, but like WWX himself, I don't remember.
"Yet it just so happened that this spirit-attraction flag had unintentionally summoned something more terrifying than walking corpses. And it was precisely this unknown evil spirit that had killed Mo Ziyuan and robbed him of an arm!"
haha. Unintentionally. Yeah, want to take a second pass at that WWX?
(I'm certain it won't be the first time I ask that question, but as he does later take a second pass at it and it's clear canon that there's nothing unintentional here I'm gonna leave it at that. This time.)

Dealing with this type was his specialty, and based on what he’d seen, killing once every seven days would make this creature a malicious ghost that caused particularly frequent mischief. However, this thing had just killed three times in a row, and in a short time span too. Even accomplished cultivators would have been hard-pressed to come up with a counter strategy, never mind these novice juniors."
Yeah... Maybe I'll change my mind on this later but... The Nie are genuinely kind of just evil. Their cultivation method is bad and they should feel bad. Cultivate a righteous path. Don't do this shit. Don't become this shit. And yeah, that goes for both of them here tbh. Not giving Da-Ge a pass just because he's dead! He knowingly cultivated all of this resentment while he was alive!
The idea that NHS becomes Chief Cultivator after all of this is astounding. Guess his mom's not a prostitute though so it's fine.

hey I was the one who asked about ao3 I'm sorry if the question came off as odd, I love your takes on mdzs and was wondering if you ever wrote any fics because you have really great diction on your posts and I thought 'This person could make really great fics' so I thought id ask, that's all

thank you! and the answer is i do have an AO3--i used to link it here a lot--but it's only got two mdzs fics on it. despite my having struggled to focus on any fandom besides mdzs for like two years.
because what happened when i got stuck in this fandom like a suction cup directly to the brain is, i wound up reading a lot more smut than i usually tolerate, because of the nature of the novel and how their relationships with sex are meaningfully integrated with their characterization and development as people and relative to one another. so a lot of the smut in this fandom has substance in a way i care about.
and my writing always reflects my reading material in a 'ooh i could do that like this' kinda way, so i started generating my own fic concepts with a sex element that i wanted to explore.
and then i got really invested in this new form and its tricks and affordances, so the only fics in this fandom i've actually been finishing are E-rated, because i'm inspired by the learning process.
(also because it turns out this shit is so easy to write, like you can cheap out on so many structural and narrative elements if you put sex in there, i'm so mad about this still. cheap!!!)
and having finished them i want to share, you know?
so i got a different ao3 for that, since mostly i like and write gen stuff, and i didn't wish to subject my existing subscribers to my learning to porn. i'm not sharing it here though, sorry, because everyone i've shared it with (upon request) has been weird about it.
the fic isn't even particularly outre! i'm remixing stuff that's done a lot in the fandom, according to my own artistic sensibilities! i do not know what the Weird is and what private conclusions are being made about me as a person on the basis of my very ace sex pollen remixes and shit. but it makes me anxious so i will Not be doing it anymore.

post-canon wwx gets amnesia back to the yiling laozu in burial mounds era and his current life explained very badly by lan jingyi, and concludes the lan have coerced him into a very creepy situation
funny wangxian modern au incorporating the height thing i was talking about earlier this week, where the main plot is ripped off from an autobiographical anecdote the singer told at a concert i went to and i was like, this would make a great one of those modern aus people keep writing. oh no now i want to.
time travel fixit outside pov, where wwx and wen ning get physically catapulted back from the qiongqi pass to before the war, and go and intervene just before lotus pier can be destroyed, wearing a mask and spooky cloak so no one will know the yiling laozu is wei wuxian (and a weimao so no one notices the ghost general is wen ning but let's be real that was less likely to happen for several reasons)
thing where the misunderstandings go off in a different direction early on, and wwx thinks lan wangji and mo xuanyu were actually an item and his impersonation has been tragically successful. very funny dramatic irony concept that is in execution going to be like 70% angst. some of it very funny angst though. (this one is the least developed because it doesn't really suggest its own plot.)

I dunno how it's happening and in what situation, but all the juniors are just being drawn to Jiang cheng at some point because there's some safe familiarity with this man even tho they don't know him.
like, while following jin ling, they were all in contact with sect leader jiang and were always so well treated and taken care of by him that it just left something on them that follows them in their next lives.
maybe jiang cheng is often just sitting in the park near the school, letting his dog play while he reads under a tree. He usually doesn't interact with anyone else, unless kids want to pet his dog.
and it could be even more interesting if they are not children, but rather young teens just stumbling onto this lone man who always reads under the tree and plays with his dog.
maybe ouyang zizhen is the first one to really get in contact with him. He's a bit new to the area since they moved in recently and he gets lost.
It's getting close to dinner time yet he's completely lost, only this man getting ready to go home.
he was always told to be wary of strangers, but something about this man seems familiar and his guts tell him he should be safe.
of course, how can jiang cheng not help a youngster when they need help? he allows the teen to use his phone to make a call, helping give an indication of where the young man is exactly.
He also waits with him since there's no one else here and it is getting late, it is dangerous for young people to stay out late like this.
maybe he strikes up a nice conversation with him when he happens to pass by. Maybe they share an interest in the same books and ouyang zizhen takes suggestions from him or even comes to read with him.
Lan Jingyi maybe meets jiang cheng when he has a fight with his dad and runs away out of frustration, like the edgy and over dramatic teen he may be.
He is still upset, but doesn't realise he sat down at the same tree jiang cheng does.
he is spooked by the big (friendly) dog that walks around to him, trying to cheer him up. of course, this gets jiang cheng attention and it doesn't take much for lan jingyi to vent his frustration.
jiang cheng listens, because he can understand and also had such a period in his younger life. sadly things turned out sour for him and his family. he wouldn't want that for this teen. He tries to reason with him and make him see his dad's point of view, he only wanted to help.
"I am sure that if you are open about why you are upset your dad will get it".
lan jingyi does listen to this man, feeling better after talking with him.
Jiang Cheng becomes his go-to adult when things go a bit more badly, since he's often just hanging around the same area.
Maybe jin ling meets jiang cheng when his dog decides to run away from him to play with another dog, making him run from one end of the park to the other.
There's something about the man that immediately makes him feel at ease (despite his dad's constant warning about strangers) maybe Jiang cheng seems taken aback by seeing him, the youngster looking familiar in a way that makes him feel nostalgic. in a way that brings memories of people, he hasn't really been in contact with for years now.
maybe Jin ling gets really comfortable with the man as they watch their dog play around, talking for two people. about anything, his day at school, the friends he made after moving here a couple of months ago, his family, the thing he likes to do.
jiang cheng is most likely the first one to figure out who jin ling parents are after a couple of meetings in the park, but doesn't dare tell jin ling about it. things went sour with his family and despite it not being towards his sister, he barely has contact with her and was never officially presented to jin ling. a little part of his mind simply assume he shouldn't impose if his sister didn't see the need to include him in his nephew's life. maybe it's better like this, not to have an uncle who is so removed from the family he barely knows what everyone is doing nowadays.
still, he enjoys the time he had with him while it last, learning about his nephew and having those little moments is also fine.
lan sizhui probably meets jiang cheng while tagging along with lan jingyi who decided to pester jiang cheng about his dad again, a bit worried about hearing his childhood friend has been regularly meeting with this older man in the park.
yet he nearly immediately gets what lan jingyi meant when he said how at ease and safe he felt around the man. it takes a while, but he does get at ease enough to talk more openly too when lan jingyi is not the one complaining.
then, of course, the quartet becomes friends and upon getting closer they also realise they all know the nice man who reads under the tree with his dog.
dunno, I just like the idea of jiang cheng somehow getting close to the juniors in another life where he can still help them and be a person of trust for them.
also, this man deserves the have a couple of brats trying to also help him out when he feels down 😤.
I can also see jin ling talking about this man he and his friends knows for months now and his parents get worried, until they hear who it is and jiang yanli is like "Wait, a-cheng is here?" cue angry little lemon who runs back to jiang cheng next them demanding to know why he never told him he knew they were related.
proper family talk and maybe the juniors work on at least making jiang cheng on better terms with one person
(damn this sure feels all over the place, but that's what my brain wanted to say.)
