This was Warlock’s second solo book, picking up the numbering from his original book which had been cancelled mid-story in 1973 (and was later concluded in The Incredible Hulk #176, wherein Warlock died for the first of many times). 

This book continues the Magus saga, which had started during Warlock’s run in Strange Tales (vol 1) #178-181.

Avengers Annual #7 (Starlin, Nov 1977). Whoa, this snuck up on me. The Avengers assemble in orbit to battle Thanos, who has summoned an army… and gathered the six soul gems! An early draft of Infinity War, then. Starlin’s intricate art and moody narration paint dire stakes. This seems like an end for Adam Warlock, too — who absorbs himself into his vampiric soul gem.
