In Hebrew, we often wish for a good year – Shanah Tovah, but this year, the words feel a bit different. After all we've been through, and what still lies ahead, it feels fitting to add a little hope for something more – for a better year.
In Hebrew, שתהיה זו שנה טובה יותר "May this be a better year."
As we stand on the cusp of this new Jewish year, my wish for you and your loved ones is a year that brings more light, peace, and healing. A year filled with love, growth, safety, and joy. May it be a time of renewal and strength, and may we all find the beauty, wisdom, and blessings that lie ahead.
Let’s walk forward with open hearts and a hope for better days 🍯🍎

The first day (of two) of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, begins tonight at sundown. In this picture, taken in 1945, a group of faithful assembles at the East River and the foot of Grand Street. They are following the ancient taschlich custom of casting bread (representing the sins of the previous year) on the water and starting life afresh with coming of the New Year.

Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year - begins on October 2 this year.
The Jewish calendar is linked to the lunar cycle, so the new year coincides with the new moon - and this year also with a solar eclipse.
In ancient times, people tried to spend the days of the new moon and, especially, eclipses as calmly as possible. This is the best time for spiritual practices and reflection - and the worst for being active in society.
The New Year holiday opens a ten-day period of prayer and repentance, the “days of trembling,” which ends with the holiday of Yom Kippur, the “day of reconciliation.”
It is believed that during these ten days God watches people especially carefully, making decisions about their future life - on earth and in heaven.
HalleluYah

To all my followers, and anyone who runs into this post Happy jewish new year! Shana tova! שנה טובה ומתוקה! May your days be as sweet as a honeyed apple, may you be a head and not a tail, may your year be full of great days and good deeds like the pomegranate is full of seeds, may you find your joy and happiness no matter what form it takes.

In honor of the Jewish New Year, I created a beautiful star from branches and fruits, and I liked it so much that I wanted to preserve its image not only in photographs.
I sketched it in a sketchbook, and while I was drawing, I really wanted to create it as a painting on canvas.
This was an unusual desire, because painting classes at art and university made me think that painting was not for me, and I had not approached canvas since graduation.
I am grateful to the One who inspired me to create this star,
To the One who inspires me to draw further and expand my skills,
To the One who creates with me.
✡ HalleluJah
