And what is johnthestitcher working on now? The fact is, I haven't been stitching in a long, long time (what with surgeries and all), so this will eventually become an umbrella to go with my Wizard costume. This is only the basis for it - I am buying rhinestones in colors to embellish it. I must have gotten this umbrella as a gift about 3 years ago, so it is high time I start on it.

The Wizard Costume that needs an umbrella for Renfaires that never have trees or shade.

Exquisite! This is 'Gimp' or 'French Wire' which is a springlike coiled wire tube that is cut to size and needle and thread goes through it to sew it down. This is painstaking and precise work.

Absolutely stunning! Between the trapunto, beading, embroidery, and all those other details. This is one beautiful piece of work!

Galadriel’s silver gambeson is finished!!

This is the result of six months of my free time and about 140 hours of patterning, testing, dyeing, quilting, and hand embroidery. I genuinely think this is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever made, and I need to give a huge shoutout to the Rings of Power costume team for providing such wonderful inspiration for us cosplayers!

I am so so proud of how much work I put into this and how careful and precise I was throughout all the stages of this piece. Taking my time really paid off and it’s pretty cool to know that I can make something like this!

This is only one piece of the whole costume, of course! Next up I’ll be working on the chainmail skirt, and then modifying boots and making bootcovers. Never a dull moment! ;)

Remember - this is all entirely handwork, and it was probably done by an army of stitchers! Even so, a garment as heavily decorated as this still could have taken months for them to complete¡
