Jesus Calms the Storm

💜 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.

As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.

“Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.” ~Luke 8:22-25 ✝️

Devotional

Today has traditionally been defined by the deafening silence of Jesus' body resting in the tomb. It's the uncomfortable pause between grief and joy; the shadowy moment before light shatters darkness; the instant before victory erupts. Christ's resurrection is coming, but it's not here yet.

Welcome to Silent Saturday.

As you connect with God today, come before Jesus to simply be present with Him.

Choose to rest with Him. Let Him refresh your soul.

This week, we've been exploring Jesus' miracles and observing how they reveal His redemptive purposes. The journey continues today.

As our passage recounts, Silent Saturday wasn't the first time Jesus' disciples had experienced an apparent lack of activity from their Savior during a pressing moment. As Galilee's furious weather-system buffeted the fishermen's boat a couple of years earlier, Jesus went MIA. He was asleep, seemingly oblivious to the life-threatening danger His friends were in.

When God goes silent, it's never easy.

As with the disciples, panic descends quickly. Despite everything they knew about Jesus, they jumped straight to the worst-case scenario: "We're going to drown!" Amid the storm, they forgot Who was with them. Often, we do the same.

Observe Jesus' response, though. He arose and, in one instant, transformed the entire scene. From waves, wind and chaos, Christ brought peace, serenity and security.

In one moment, everything was different. Jesus was in control. He had never not been. As the dust settled, Christ's true nature shone. The King of creation was here.

What does this teach us about Silent Saturday and our lives today?

As with Christ's other miracles, this episode acts as a motif. God's control over nature foreshadows His mastery over death itself. It points to a bigger truth. On the lake, Jesus awoke and calmed the earthly storm. At the cross, He arose and calmed the spiritual storm, rebuking the enemy and restoring peace to our souls. It's another sensational reminder of who God is.

Because of Christ's omnipotence, we can take heart. Whatever's going on, it's not over until God says it's over. He's in control and His silence is not the same as His absence. In one instant, everything can change.

Pause.

Where in your life does Jesus appear to be missing?

It may seem like Jesus is asleep in your boat or resting in the tomb. Today, though, you can renew your hope. Sunday is coming. Victory is stirring under the surface. The all-powerful God is here. Wind and waves obey Him. Even death submits to Him. Despite God's silence, He's still working.

If you feel stuck in Silent Saturday, remind yourself of God's character. Jesus never leaves anything unfinished. Paul wrote: "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6). So stay the path today. Breakthrough is coming. 💜🙏🙂

when i say this man is downbad for you, i mean it

he spends his time painting portraits of you especially the photos that have you in it (he uses them as a reference)

he just can’t get you out of his head whenever he does something he loves

he usually gives them to you as a surprise but he gave so much portraits already, you aren’t that surprised but you love the painting anyway (and his smile whenever he gives them to you)

he listens to music that reminded him of you and you guy’s relationship whenever he paints (listen i just wanna say that the glue song and valentine is what he mostly listens to when he paints you, but that’s just my opinion)

you sometimes visit him when he’s painting, you love watching him paint but you sometimes join him when he paints (it’s mostly you guys covering each other in paint and making a whole mess)

there was this one time where it was almodt your birthday and hyunjin wanted to give you something so he decided to paint you <3 (like he does all the time) but this painting is gonna be more special, it’s a painting of you in a princess attire ❤️❤️ you’re his princess ok? and you can never ever deny that

those nicknames alone make you flustered and make your heart flip (it’s like he wants to give you a heart attack from all those butterflies in your stomach)

but you fluster him back by calling him “your prince", when you first called him that he was surprised and flattered (and flustered)

Miracle Week: Encounter the Servant

The Last Supper

💜 A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.

Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.

But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

You are those who have stood by me in my trials.

And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ~Luke 22:24-30 ✝️

What's God been saying to you this Holy Week? If nothing stands out, don't worry. You're in the right place. This space is for encounter. As you commit time to connecting with God, He'll meet with you.

Pause and breathe. Allow God's love to refresh your mind. Gently recenter your gaze onto Him. Release your fear and receive His grace.

God's mercies are fresh for you today.

We've been pondering Jesus' miracles and observing how they unveil God's grand redemptive plans. In studying Christ's miracles, we've encountered our Maker. He's the God who loves us, provides for us and saves us.

Today, we're contemplating the God who serves us. Creation's King becoming a servant is perhaps the most unexpected miracle of all.

Although there's no supernatural phenomena in today's passage, set during the Last Supper, one of Jesus' lines stands out as extraordinary: "I am among you as one who serves."

It's a bombshell which startlingly overturns our human-made systems of order and hierarchy.

As Jesus, Lord of all, stands in the cross' shadow, hours before His arrest in Gethsemane, He declares Himself a servant. The greatest makes Himself the least. In this moment, every other miracle is reframed. Our perspective is upended. We realize Jesus' supernatural power was never employed to impress, belittle or scare us. It was channeled towards serving us. Christ's miracles were an expression of His love. They were vehicles to help us know Him: Relational invitations rather than heavenly magic tricks.

Let that land. Jesus' miracles were to serve you. It's a breathtaking thought which sets the entire Gospel message alight: Everything Jesus did was motivated by His love for you.

How can we respond to such scandalous generosity? The answer is to follow Christ's example.

Serving others is one of the miracles of God's kingdom we can actively participate in. It shocks our individualistic culture and transforms us in the process. If you ever feel like you have nothing to offer, think again. By helping others, you share Christ with them. He's the most precious gift this universe can offer.

The miracle of servanthood goes even deeper. Ponder this from Matthew 25:

"The righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? ..." "The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Whenever you give yourself for others, you serve God Himself. Servanthood is a direct line to Jesus and a profound form of worship.

Stop and reflect. How can you reflect Christ's servanthood this Maundy Thursday? As you help others, remember this reward: Christ confers on you His kingdom. It's the greatest privilege there is. 💜🙏🙂

I'm curious about 9, 11 and 18

9. What are you currently trying to improve?

Human faces. I know I really should do that 100 heads challenge because only repetition and intentional studying can help me get better. I have gotten more comfortable drawing the human figure thanks to life drawing but even at the classes my faces are like jesustakethewheel scribbles I do in two minutes and it either works out or it doesn't.

11. Favorite comment you’ve ever recieved on your work?

Hard to pick or remember once specific comment but I think in general when people tell me they have followed me for years, remember a specific piece from wayyy back or even still hold onto something they got from me. It's just touching that people still remember.

18. Do you have any larger projects you’d like to pursue? Like comics, shortfilm, a series etc?

I mean I currently try to keep working on my Nuzlocke comic in hopes to finish it one day. I always wanted to do another one and I have just so. much. stuff. in my head regarding that but I don't know if I will ever get to do it.

Aside from that, I think I would like to do an original story at some point. I don't know what form it would take, a novel, an illustrated novel, a comic, or something else. I know I would want to combine drawing and storytelling but I don't have any super solid ideas atm, just little sparks here and there.

I just really like telling stories. I remember in the elementary school I wrote some funny story (I don't remember much of it, it just had a bunch of talking animals) and the class wanted teacher to read it so many times. Another thing I remember doing as a kid was drawing a Spirited Away ripoff dragon and writing next to it "This will be the cover of my book when I publish it".

I feel like I'm just too scattered all over the place to really focus on some long term project. There's just so much clutter and shit that diminishes my energy and attention span. But I'm trying to keep that childlike dream alive and maybe at some point I will have a story to tell in a long format.

1st GP appointment

August 31, 2023

Words could not express how relieved i was when i finally had a GP appointment. I've been waiting for more than a month for this. To finally be able to have myself check and hopefully continue my medication.

I was kinda afraid to arrived on our GP late. Since we were not able to catch the early bus. I was overthinking that we no longer be entertained. But when we got there, the receptionist told us to wait. Because we will just be called.

Then a woman in her late 60's (i think) walk out the door and got something from the receptionist. I knew it was my Doctor. Exactly the same as Darlene described. Then before she got back to her office, she called "FAYE". And I knew it was me. So followed her into her office and sat down to the empty seat next to her table.

She was such a lovely and kinds lady. She asked about my symptoms, history and why i was there.

After telling her in details about my previous diagnosis. Also that I' am worried because I am still spotting and occasionally bleeding and hoping to continue my treatment here. She then told me some very heartbreaking news;

"YOU COME TO THE WORST COUNTRY FOR A GYNECOLOGIST. OUR SYSTEM IS VERY BAD. IT WOULD TAKE YOU UPTO 4 YEARS BEFORE YOU CAN SEE A GYNECOLOGIST."

Then she did some pelvic test, pap smear and blood test. I was shocked that she filled up 2 large syringe with my blood. But she was gentle in handling it. I was afraid but I' am also relieved that i could have some test done.

I called the clinic after a week and asked about my lab result. The receptionist answered and told me blood test was back and it was all normal. No further detailed explanation. My pap smear will take about 6weeks for the result, so as the Scan schedule.

The waiting time here is really long. It's making me anxious.

But still praying that i could have my treatment here.
