Tumblr media
All the new episode changes was I added a question mark on betrayed by a friend, considering the vague ass forshadowing at the end, but I also added sacrificed, miracles, and chosen one which I missed last time, and I put question marks on executed publicly, I assume it’s public so that the citizens can fix their swords, and a question mark on ritual eating of blood or flesh, which is a huge stretch, but that is basically what the killing him for swords thing is.

Gonna talk about where I think Syl's story is going and how I feel about it. Nothing's confirmed yet but...
...I'm spoilering anyway 'cause sometimes theories end up being right.
Syladin aside- I don't care about it. For real. I'm not a Syladin shipper but jesus fucking christ it is not as bad as some people are making it out to be.
Anywho. I've been saying for more than a year now that I think Syl is gonna get Ishar'd. I don't think it's going to kill her like it has the other spren he's been experimenting on. By the time it gets to that point, Ishar will probably have had a breakthrough in his research.
I think Syl is going to have a very, very bad time at some point in the book and forshadowing says it's going to be her own doing. The Stormfather called her out for always putting Kaladin first and says she has always misunderstood the point of the Nahel bond.
And think about it. Syl has nobody other than Kaladin in her corner. She's not friends with any of the other Honorspren. She seems to be constantly rebelling against the Stormfather. The first time we see her go back to Shadesmar she gets fucking arrested.
I like seeing Syl trying to take part in Urithiru society. She is making an attempt to live there and interact with other people, which is huge for her. I have seen people criticizing that, like she's just trying to be seen as an adult to flirt with Kaladin but that is so blatantly not what she's doing.
She's tired of being Kaladin's secret. She's by his side all the time, yes, but she wants to be seen as his partner rather than his weapon. She wants to be taken seriously, she wants to connect with people, she wants to be a part of the city she has been living in.
Because without Kaladin she has been alone for millennia.
So I'm hoping Syl makes more friends or has a chance to rely on somebody else. I REALLY want to see Syl become a radiant after Ishar binds her because let's be real, Kaladin won't be anymore.
And if Syl is used to making friends or forming bonds beyond just Kaladin, she'd be able to bond a spren.

ElMax mentioned
Just quickly thrown in.... Next to Jopper, ElMax was directly named recently.
Tumblr media
Still working on other posts though - sometimes it gets bigger than intended and then Tumblr is also limiting you (pictures).
And then I noticed something recently which is right in the blind Max won't be blind at all alley (because forshadowing) and it would actually fit in a post I'm working on yet it doesn't bc limits....Jesus. Just let us use a few more images, Tumblr.
True Sight (the divine version) is a draft for a very long time now
Jekyll & Hyde.
Should I talk about Ravenous separately? Or connect it to Elfen Lied?
Kathryn Sullivan and the space walk on October 11th 1984
Revisiting the Rainbow Bridge & Thor: Ragnarök
DC, Jor-El's speech and Wonder Woman
Jesus...there's so much of potential things one can talk about. 🤔 That's all either on the Inspo board btw or mentioned as inspo/directly alluded to in the show.

ANGR/RE7 AU fanfic: Timeout
Inspired by @wazzappp's Ghost Rider/Resident Evil 7 AU because it haunts me.
Gabe and Robbie meet for the first time after Robbie gets his hand stapled back on.
Nobody ever came back from Lucas’s side of the basement fence. He was mean and Gabe usually stayed away from him; he didn’t care about any of the guests they caught, didn’t respect his own bio-dad and bio-mom, and somehow he didn’t even care about Eveline. Gabe didn’t know how Lucas managed that one. Eveline made it impossible not to love her. Gabe loved her more than Robbie, and he knew that if Robbie stayed here and got to know her, he’d love Eveline more than Gabe.
Eveline always wanted to be sure, though. That was why she’d made Gabe cut off his hand.
He just wished Robbie would leave and never come back. If Eveline had Robbie, she wouldn’t need Gabe except as someone to bully, or a spare body to borrow. And Robbie would never look at Gabe again, not with Eveline filling his head, tugging. He wanted to remember Robbie when they’d both been real people, not see what Eveline would turn him into.
Gabe sat on Lucas’ side of the basement fence, clutching his head and rocking. That was a self-soothing behavior, he remembered one of the doctors explaining to Robbie, and who else was going to soothe him? Not Eveline. Robbie’s arrival had made everything worse; Ma Baker was upset because Robbie was ungrateful to her and Eveline, Daddy Baker was angry and wanted to teach him a lesson, and Eveline wanted Robbie nice and broken before she took him. Nobody had time to check that Gabe was alright, and once Robbie was well and adopted into the family, no one ever would.
He’d cut off Robbie’s hand. He’d cut him with a knife. Robbie wouldn’t stay after all that, would he? He’d run away. Gabe hadn’t been acting like himself, he’d been acting like a bully. Robbie hated bullies. No one had escaped Daddy Baker before, but that wouldn’t stop Robbie.
He kept hearing what Robbie used to call fireworks, loud and close. Daddy Baker had never shot at any of their guests. Lucas did once, but Daddy took his gun away after that.
Pop-pop echoing close through the hallway. Gabe caught an echo of Eveline’s frustration—one of her friends was hurt, she’d have to rebuild it. She had so many of them now. The mold was more active than Gabe had ever seen it, snaking down from the ceiling over the walls, pooling and mounding on the floors. Robbie was hurting it more than any other guest had.
Gabe reached out to a tendril of mold and stroked it: damp, soft. Eveline wouldn’t want to be the middle child between Robbie and Gabe. Soon Gabe would have only the mold for company.
The gunshots had been getting nearer. Now they were silent, and Gabe heard lurching footsteps. He wondered if he was in trouble. Daddy wasn’t one of those sissy parents who didn’t believe in corporal punishment and the idea of a social worker checking in on the Bakers was laughable. Daddy had hit Gabe, told him it was for his own good. He never hit Eveline though, even though he loved Eveline more.
Gabe could open the other door and creep away into the swamp, but not if he wanted to know who was doing the shooting. Not if he wanted to warn them. He waited, crouching in the shadow where the hall light had burnt out, ready to run if Eveline let him.
A blood-soaked man stepped around the corner. It was Robbie.
Gabe lurched toward him, coming up against the wire fence. His body seemed not his; it had been so long since anything but fear for himself or love for Eveline had made him move, that his love for Robbie seemed like an intruder.
Robbie’s gun flashed toward him, just for an instant. Then he pointed it at the ground and stumbled toward Gabe just as urgently as Gabe had tried to run to him, free hand outstretched to wrap over top of Gabe’s fingers through the wire.
“Robbie!”
“Gabe!” His voice was hoarse. He leaned his head against the fence like he could fit through the gaps if he thought small thoughts. “It’s you, right? Help me out, how do I know when it’s you?”
Gabe felt himself start to cry. “You can’t. She’s in my head, she can make me want things. Robbie, I’m sorry—” He choked up and couldn’t talk anymore. Robbie tucked his gun into his waistband, his other fingers still firm and clammy over Gabe’s. Other fingers. Gabe followed the hand up Robbie’s wrist, past a big smartwatch he’d never seen Robbie wear, to the ring of carpentry staples biting into Robbie’s skin where Gabe had cut his hand off. Same way Lucas always fixed himself up when Daddy had enough of his lip.
Normal people’s arms didn’t work that way.
Gabe couldn’t keep himself from crying. Robbie was saying, “Buddy, it’s okay, I’m not mad, I just need to know what’s happening to you so I can get you medicine and we can go home. I’m gonna bring you home. Okay?” Gabe couldn’t force out any words through his sobs, so he couldn’t tell Robbie that neither of them could go home, they were both rotten inside like the Baker’s house. They belonged to the swamp.
But Robbie could still want to go home. He could still say it.
“Run,” Gabe managed. “Robbie. Robbie, run away!”
“I’m not leaving you, bud,” Robbie said, and then his hand pulled away and he jerked his head up and grabbed at his waist and he bared his teeth. His face was dark with fury just like Daddy on a real tear. “Don’t you fucking touch him!” Robbie snarled, and from behind Gabe a strong arm snatched him up by the waist and heaved him off his feet. Gabe smelled the disinfectant Lucas used.
“Shoot me!” Lucas taunted, voice coming from just below Gabe’s chin. “The kid’ll be fine. Go on. Do it.” Lucas carried Gabe away through the door behind them, even as Gabe thrashed and kicked. Through his tears, he saw Robbie gripping a gun with both hands, trembling as he aimed it just past Gabe’s head. Robbie never used to have a gun. He’d always told Gabe never to touch them, never to play with them, to keep away from anyone who had one.
Robbie lowered the gun, his whole body shaking. “I’m coming for you, Gabe,” he promised, his voice raw and terrible. “I won’t let any of these people stop me. You’re my brother, and you always will be. I’m taking you out of here!”
I can’t, Gabe thought. I can’t leave, I belong to Eveline. But he saw the fury in Robbie’s eyes, and bit the words back.
Lucas walked them back through the door and leaned around Gabe’s back toward the opening. “Pussy.” He slammed it shut.

Okay, so, I wasn't going to scream into the uncaring void of the internet about this but I gotta. A lot of people have been dunking on Dr. Seward about the August 19th entry, and especially about the phrase, "These infantesimal distinctions between man and man are too paltry for an Omnipotent Being. How these madmen give themselves away! The real God taketh heed lest a sparrow fall. But the God created from human vanity sees no difference between an eagle and a sparrow. Oh, if men only knew!" But when I was first reading the book, this was one of my favorite quotes, and frankly it's not as about Seward as everyone is making it. It's a reference to Matthew 10:29, which says "are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's knowledge." (NIV) It is right in the middle of a passage about Jesus appointing his disciples and giving them both encouragement and instruction for the persecution they will face when they follow him, and you won't believe what is written only a few verses before in 24-26: "The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for students to be like their teachers, and servants like their masters. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household! So do not be afraid of them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. "
So here we have Jesus telling his disciples not to fear the servants of Beezlebul, or the devil, because they are no greater than the devil himself, and really the devil's not such a big gun compared to God himself, who the disciples follow.
In 'Dracula,' we have Renfield serving his master who is Dracula, in similar authority structure to the devil, but he is also not to be feared in comparison to the power of the forces of good, and the verses after that even discuss the fate of evil which (spoilers) forshadows the end of the book and the character Dracula himself. If you ask me, using a scripture passage to foreshadow your entire book in such a subtle way is honestly just BRILLIANT and I love it.
Moreover, the particular verse he chose to actually reference helps to highlight the differences between Dracula (an embodiment of men's evil) and God. Seward is not bragging that he is in charge, or miffed that Renfield does not treat him as such, he is noticing a change in behavior, as Renfield often WOULD defer to him as a higher authority in the past. Seward is not illogical to think this is because Renfield has come to believe there is an even higher authority to appeal to, and is not wrong when he says that a human higher authority makes no distinction between men. Dracula does not care if someone is a lunatic, a beloved lady, or a lawyer, they are all prey to him, and he will use them to his own ends. Similarly men whose ultimate goal is to benefit themselves and make a "god" of thier own interests stop seeing others as individuals, but as means to an end. This is in direct contrast to the God who sees every sparrow that falls, and who seeks a personal relationship and to foster personal relationships between those who follow him. This is a trait shared by the crew of light in the book. They have a father in Van Helsing, brothers and sisters, and husband and wife in each other, and all love each other so deeply and tenderly, just as God cares for the sparrows, and so much more for his own people. Meanwhile Dracula has slaves he must bend to his will. He has the brides, who obviously don't even like him much. Dracula, in choosing to selfishly disregard the feelings of those he considers prey has made himself thoroughly and completely alone, and that is what makes evil so weak.
Maybe it is just Seward being arrogant, but in my understanding of the allusion, it's an expert highlight of the difference between good and evil, light and dark, selfishness and love, distance and relationship, the contrast of which is a central theme of the whole book. For let us not forget that Dracula was once a man, a man who has been twisted into the opposite of everything humanity was supposed to be, and that is what makes him so very horrific.
(Also just read Matthew 10. The whole thing lines up very well and it's super cool. Way to go Mr. Stoker.)

Mhm uhuh yeah sure you can definetly stand being away from your brother it definetly wouldnt make you literally sick with worry yeah.
// You won’t need the fucking oscillator. You lifted a larty, you can lift a GX1.
Eli always sounds very confident. Robbie doesn’t have the words to explain what it felt like to realise he could crush a ship full of people with a gesture, but he certainly knows better than to point that power at their only way off this cursed planet. //
'ELI ALWAYS SOUNDS VERY CONFIDENT' YEAH TO COVER UP THAT HE DOESENT KNOW JACK SHIT ohhhhh my god he's such a shithead lmfao. ROBBIE REALIZING HOW MUCH HE CAN FUCK SHIT UP YESSSSS YESSSSSSS. Dude you are so strong with the dark side and its just gonna get worseee ehehheheheheheheheheheh

“Shut up,” he mutters. Gabe looks up at him from across the firepit, eyebrows drawn together. “Not– Sorry. I was talking to myself.”//
Ohhhhh worried Gabe is so good its my favorite thing I love it so much
//He can feel his brother’s presence reach out through the Force - it’s always there, just at the edges of his consciousness, and there’s nothing that would bring him more comfort than to reach right back. His bad eye prickles, a quick, sharp reminder why he won’t be doing that.//
HES SO SCARED OF EXPOSING HIS BROTHER TO THE DARK SIDE OH MY GODDDDD. im losing my godamn marbles bro im LOSING MY MARBLES BROTHER. Ohhhhhh he just keeps isolating himself but he doesent really have other options because he has to keep that bad shit away from his brother BUT HE CANT STOP USING IT AAAAAAA FUCK

You wrote the whole process of those feelings of vulnerability turning into fear and anger so so well dude. "he certainly knows better than to point that power at their only way off this cursed planet." OH REALLY? REALLY? FORSHADOWING MUCH?? JESUS FUCK.
//Eli’s presence hovers close, too, and Robbie worms himself between the two before they can so much as sense one another.

STAR WARS AU
Tumblr media
The Jedi originally came to Tatooine looking for Gabe. Sensing his strength with the light side of the force they thought he would be a prime candidate for training. Unfortunately for them, Robbie and Gabe are a package deal. They begrudgingly allowed him to come along as well because he is also force sensitive, but a little older than they would usually let in for training. Robbie agrees to because 1. if he just says no who KNOWS if they'll just take Gabe away forcefully and 2. STEADY FOOD SOURCE. ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS. ADAQUATE MEDICAL CARE. NO MORE FUCKING SAND. He doesen't trust these people as far as he can throw them but FUCK anything must be better than here.
During a sparring session another padawan purposefully infuriates Robbie, causing him to reach out to the dark side. He nearly kills the other padawan with the strength of his outburst. It then becomes EXTREMELY EVIDENT that Robbie is VERY strong with the dark side of the force. As a result of this outburst, one of his eyes gets the usual 'sith look', he gets special training to try and suppress those feelings, and he gets permanent pariah status in the Jedi Temple (I have. plans. i am being vague on purpose because FUCK I want to draw this scene in my head so bad but I also want to get this out to yall in the same month so it will be coming later. my dramatic bitch syndrome demands it).
After the clone wars get started (he's around 16 at this point) the Jedi realize that they need more people to fight. Robbie, though being previously disqualified for his history, is accepted for training and assigned Jedi Knight Johnny Blaze as a master.
Unfortunately, along the way Johnny starts picking up more solo missions and eventually disappears about 6 months in and everyone thinks he's defected (he's spying on the sepratist's for the republic). Which MEGA sucks for Robbie because 'holy shit the unstable padawans master defected' is getting thrown around and thats really not great. He wanders off deep into the temple where he can hopefully find a place to throw his feelings around in peace and stumbles into the artifact room, which opened in response to sensing the dark side. Bad news, you cant use the same method to get out.
Even MORE unfortunately one of these sith artifacts starts talking to him. After telling him how to get tf out of the vault and convincing Robbie that things are about to get bad ('I FELT what you could to out there kid do you REALLY think they're gonna let you stay? You gotta get out of here. And if you take me with you I can guide us to a ship they can't trace')
So Robbie sets out to run away, fully planning on taking Gabe with him and gets second thoughts while packing to which Gabe goes 'fuck that were GOING' (he's like. 11. But he'll be damned if Robbie goes somewhere and leaves him who knows how long). While escaping via unauthorized ship takeoff, Elis holocron makes it look like Robbie has fully gone to the dark side and there are clones sent to stop him.
Robbie responds by using the force to throw another ship at them and escapes with Gabe. Now they're both on the run. Robbie wanted by the jedi council for kidnapping, and Gabe wanted back to complete his training.
Tumblr media
Eli died as a dark side user and a wannabe Sith. He never really graduated into full sithhood and spent most of his time working for Senator Ivanov and his dealings in Hutt space. He was OBSESSED with the prospect of immortality and sought ways to survive even after death.
When he was used as a scapegoat by Ivanov (he reported Eli to the Jedi council to make him look a little less suspicious), his back up plan of imbuing a holocron with his force presence was put into use. He's been sitting gathering dust in a vault of darksided relics for the past 10 years, just waiting for his chance to get out.
Tumblr media
Gabe is an EXCEPTIONAL student in the Jedi temple. He enjoys learning about the force and how to use it, and for the most part gets along with his peers. His mobility aid has been improved since Robbie first built it for him out of scraps he was allowed to take from working on ships on Tatooine. Some days are still better than others, and there are times when a wheelchair is more appropriate, but generally the braces are good for daily use.
He is VERY defensive of his brother and absolutely will not hear a bad word said about him (many bad words are said about him. everyone things Gabe is incredibly sweet, but also to blinded by his love for his brother to see that he poses a threat). It very much so does frustrate him, he's just better at dealing with those feelings then Robbie is.
Tumblr media
Anakin gets his fun force choking so I think that Robbie should get something fun and funky and special too so enter: JAW BREAK!! Yes it is very ring inspired but I wanted to make it MORE. So fuck it he rips the whole jaw off its hinges I think this would also probably kill you very dead.

Guys have you ever considered that maybe doing a sad grimdark ending 100% of the time might not be fun for the CCs? If you want more lore, please stop shitting on the one lore stream that we’ve had in months that had a happier tone. Jesus they set up Sam’s multiple body thing, they forshadowed Sam having a plan with his weird behavior, and we already knew nothing bad is going to happen to michael in any of the lore because it’s been promised before. Give them some time to be happy for once, they’ll go back to miserable plots soon enough. I’m 100% sure they have plans for c!Sam after this.

Patriarchs and Prophets, pp. 422-432: Chapter (38) The Journey Around Edom
This chapter is based on Numbers 20:14-29; 21:1-9.
The encampment of Israel at Kadesh was but a short distance from the borders of Edom, and both Moses and the people greatly desired to follow the route through this country to the Promised Land; accordingly they sent a message, as God had directed them, to the Edomite king—
“Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the travail that hath befallen us: how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we have dwelt in Egypt a long time; and the Egyptians vexed us, and our fathers: and when we cried unto the Lord, He heard our voice, and sent an Angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the uttermost of thy border. Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king's highway, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.”
To this courteous request a threatening refusal was returned: “Thou shalt not pass by me, lest I come out against thee with the sword.”
Surprised at this repulse, the leaders of Israel sent a second appeal to the king, with the promise, “We will go by the highway: and if I and my cattle drink of thy water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing anything else, go through on my feet.”
“Thou shalt not go through,” was the answer. Armed bands of Edomites were already posted at the difficult passes, so that any peaceful advance in that direction was impossible, and the Hebrews were forbidden to resort to force. They must make the long journey around the land of Edom.
Had the people, when brought into trial, trusted in God, the Captain of the Lord's host would have led them through Edom, and the fear of them would have rested upon the inhabitants of the land, so that, instead of manifesting hostility, they would have shown them favor. But the Israelites did not act promptly upon God's word, and while they were complaining and murmuring, the golden opportunity passed. When they were at last ready to present their request to the king, it was refused. Ever since they left Egypt, Satan had been steadily at work to throw hindrances and temptations in their way, that they might not inherit Canaan. And by their own unbelief they had repeatedly opened the door for him to resist the purpose of God.
It is important to believe God's word and act upon it promptly, while His angels are waiting to work for us. Evil angels are ready to contest every step of advance. And when God's providence bids His children go forward, when He is ready to do great things for them, Satan tempts them to displease the Lord by hesitation and delay; he seeks to kindle a spirit of strife or to arouse murmuring or unbelief, and thus deprive them of the blessings that God desired to bestow. God's servants should be minutemen, ever ready to move as fast as His providence opens the way. And delay on their part gives time for Satan to work to defeat them.
In the directions first given to Moses concerning their passage through Edom, after declaring that the Edomites should be afraid of Israel, the Lord had forbidden His people to make use of this advantage against them. Because the power of God was engaged for Israel, and the fears of the Edomites would make them an easy prey, the Hebrews were not therefore to prey upon them. The command given them was, “Take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore: meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given Mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.” Deuteronomy 2:4, 5. The Edomites were descendants of Abraham and Isaac, and for the sake of these His servants, God had shown favor to the children of Esau. He had given them Mount Seir for a possession, and they were not to be disturbed unless by their sins they should place themselves beyond the reach of His mercy. The Hebrews were to dispossess and utterly destroy the inhabitants of Canaan, who had filled up the measure of their iniquity but the Edomites were still probationers, and as such were to be mercifully dealt with. God delights in mercy, and He manifests His compassion before He inflicts His judgments. He teaches Israel to spare the people of Edom, before requiring them to destroy the inhabitants of Canaan.
The ancestors of Edom and Israel were brothers, and brotherly kindness and courtesy should exist between them. The Israelites were forbidden, either then or at any future time, to revenge the affront given them in the refusal of passage through the land. They must not expect to possess any part of the land of Edom. While the Israelites were the chosen and favored people of God, they must heed the restrictions which He placed upon them. God had promised them a goodly inheritance; but they were not to feel that they alone had any rights in the earth, and seek to crowd out all others. They were directed, in all their intercourse with the Edomites, to beware of doing them injustice. They were to trade with them, buying such supplies as were needed, and promptly paying for all they received. As an encouragement to Israel to trust in God and obey His word they were reminded, “The Lord thy God hath blessed thee; ... thou hast lacked nothing.” Deuteronomy 2:7. They were not dependent upon the Edomites, for they had a God rich in resources. They must not by force or fraud seek to obtain anything pertaining to them; but in all their intercourse they should exemplify the principle of the divine law, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Had they in this manner passed through Edom, as God had purposed, the passage would have proved a blessing, not only to themselves, but to the inhabitants of the land; for it would have given them an opportunity to become acquainted with God's people and His worship and to witness how the God of Jacob prospered those who loved and feared Him . But all this the unbelief of Israel had prevented. God had given the people water in answer to their clamors, but He permitted their unbelief to work out its punishment. Again they must traverse the desert and quench their thirst from the miraculous spring, which, had they but trusted in Him , they would no longer have needed.
Accordingly the hosts of Israel again turned toward the south, and made their way over sterile wastes, that seemed even more dreary after a glimpse of the green spots among the hills and valleys of Edom. From the mountain range overlooking this gloomy desert, rises Mount Hor, whose summit was to be the place of Aaron's death and burial. When the Israelites came to this mountain, the divine command was addressed to Moses—
“Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up unto Mount Hor: and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them upon Eleazar his son: and Aaron shall be gathered unto his people, and shall die there.”
Together these two aged men and the younger one toiled up the mountain height. The heads of Moses and Aaron were white with the snows of sixscore winters. Their long and eventful lives had been marked with the deepest trials and the greatest honors that had ever fallen to the lot of man. They were men of great natural ability, and all their powers had been developed, exalted, and dignified by communion with the Infinite One. Their life had been spent in unselfish labor for God and their fellow men; their countenances gave evidence of great intellectual power, firmness and nobility of purpose, and strong affections.
Many years Moses and Aaron had stood side by side in their cares and labors. Together they had breasted unnumbered dangers, and had shared together the signal blessing of God; but the time was at hand when they must be separated. They moved on very slowly, for every moment in each other's society was precious. The ascent was steep and toilsome; and as they often paused to rest, they communed together of the past and the future. Before them, as far as the eye could reach, was spread out the scene of their desert wanderings. In the plain below were encamped the vast hosts of Israel, for whom these chosen men had spent the best portion of their lives; for whose welfare they had felt so deep an interest, and made so great sacrifices. Somewhere beyond the mountains of Edom was the path leading to the Promised Land—that land whose blessings Moses and Aaron were not to enjoy. No rebellious feelings found a place in their hearts, no expression of murmuring escaped their lips; yet a solemn sadness rested upon their countenances as they remembered what had debarred them from the inheritance of their fathers.
Aaron's work for Israel was done. Forty years before, at the age of eighty-three, God had called him to unite with Moses in his great and important mission. He had co-operated with his brother in leading the children of Israel from Egypt. He had held up the great leader's hands when the Hebrew hosts gave battle to Amalek. He had been permitted to ascend Mount Sinai, to approach into the presence of God, and to behold the divine glory. The Lord had conferred upon the family of Aaron the office of the priesthood, and had honored him with the sacred consecration of high priest. He had sustained him in the holy office by the terrible manifestations of divine judgment in the destruction of Korah and his company. It was through Aaron's intercession that the plague was stayed. When his two sons were slain for disregarding God's express command, he did not rebel or even murmur. Yet the record of his noble life had been marred. Aaron committed a grievous sin when he yielded to the clamors of the people and made the golden calf at Sinai; and again, when he united with Miriam in envy and murmuring against Moses. And he, with Moses, offended the Lord at Kadesh by disobeying the command to speak to the rock that it might give forth its water.
God intended that these great leaders of His people should be representatives of Christ. Aaron bore the names of Israel upon his breast. He communicated to the people the will of God. He entered the most holy place on the Day of Atonement, “not without blood,” as a mediator for all Israel. He came forth from that work to bless the congregation, as Christ will come forth to bless His waiting people when His work of atonement in their behalf shall be ended. It was the exalted character of that sacred office as representative of our great High Priest that made Aaron's sin at Kadesh of so great magnitude.
With deep sorrow Moses removed from Aaron the holy vestments, and placed them upon Eleazar, who thus became his successor by divine appointment. For his sin at Kadesh, Aaron was denied the privilege of officiating as God's high priest in Canaan—of offering the first sacrifice in the goodly land, and thus consecrating the inheritance of Israel. Moses was to continue to bear his burden in leading the people to the very borders of Canaan. He was to come within sight of the Promised Land, but was not to enter it. Had these servants of God, when they stood before the rock at Kadesh, borne unmurmuringly the test there brought upon them, how different would have been their future! A wrong act can never be undone. It may be that the work of a lifetime will not recover what has been lost in a single moment of temptation or even thoughtlessness.
The absence from the camp of the two great leaders, and the fact that they had been accompanied by Eleazar, who, it was well known, was to be Aaron's successor in holy office, awakened a feeling of apprehension, and their return was anxiously awaited. As the people looked about them, upon their vast congregation, they saw that nearly all the adults who left Egypt had perished in the wilderness. All felt a foreboding of evil as they remembered the sentence pronounced against Moses and Aaron. Some were aware of the object of that mysterious journey to the summit of Mount Hor, and their solicitude for their leaders was heightened by bitter memories and self-accusings.
The forms of Moses and Eleazar were at last discerned, slowly descending the mountainside, but Aaron was not with them. Upon Eleazar were the sacerdotal garments, showing that he had succeeded his father in the sacred office. As the people with heavy hearts gathered about their leader, Moses told them that Aaron had died in his arms upon Mount Hor, and that they there buried him. The congregation broke forth in mourning and lamentation, for they all loved Aaron, though they had so often caused him sorrow. “They mourned for Aaron thirty days, even all the house of Israel.”
Concerning the burial of Israel's high priest, the Scriptures give only the simple record, “There Aaron died, and there he was buried.”Deuteronomy 10:6. In what striking contrast to the customs of the present day was this burial, conducted according to the express command of God. In modern times the funeral services of a man of high position are often made the occasion of ostentatious and extravagant display. When Aaron died, one of the most illustrious men that ever lived, there were only two of his nearest friends to witness his death and to attend his burial. And that lonely grave upon Mount Hor was forever hidden from the sight of Israel. God is not honored in the great display so often made over the dead, and the extravagant expense incurred in returning their bodies to the dust.
The whole congregation sorrowed for Aaron, yet they could not feel the loss so keenly as did Moses. The death of Aaron forcibly reminded Moses that his own end was near; but short as the time of his stay on earth must be, he deeply felt the loss of his constant companion—the one who had shared his joys and sorrows, his hopes and fears, for so many long years. Moses must now continue the work alone; but he knew that God was his friend, and upon Him he leaned more heavily.
Soon after leaving Mount Hor the Israelites suffered defeat in an engagement with Arad, one of the Canaanite kings. But as they earnestly sought help from God, divine aid was granted them, and their enemies were routed. This victory, instead of inspiring gratitude and leading the people to feel their dependence upon God, made them boastful and self-confident. Soon they fell into the old habit of murmuring. They were now dissatisfied because the armies of Israel had not been permitted to advance upon Canaan immediately after their rebellion at the report of the spies nearly forty years before. They pronounced their long sojourn in the wilderness an unnecessary delay, reasoning that they might have conquered their enemies as easily heretofore as now.
As they continued their journey toward the south, their route lay through a hot, sandy valley, destitute of shade or vegetation. The way seemed long and difficult, and they suffered from weariness and thirst. Again they failed to endure the test of their faith and patience. By continually dwelling on the dark side of their experiences, they separated themselves farther and farther from God. They lost sight of the fact that but for their murmuring when the water ceased at Kadesh, they would have been spared the journey around Edom. God had purposed better things for them. Their hearts should have been filled with gratitude to Him that He had punished their sin so lightly. But instead of this, they flattered themselves that if God and Moses had not interfered, they might now have been in possession of the Promised Land. After bringing trouble upon themselves, making their lot altogether harder than God designed, they charged all their misfortunes upon Him. Thus they cherished bitter thoughts concerning His dealings with them, and finally they became discontented with everything. Egypt looked brighter and more desirable than liberty and the land to which God was leading them.
As the Israelites indulged the spirit of discontent, they were disposed to find fault even with their blessings. “And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.”
Moses faithfully set before the people their great sin. It was God's power alone that had preserved them in “that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water.” Deuteronomy 8:15. Every day of their travels they had been kept by a miracle of divine mercy. In all the way of God's leading they had found water to refresh the thirsty, bread from heaven to satisfy their hunger, and peace and safety under the shadowy cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. Angels had ministered to them as they climbed the rocky heights or threaded the rugged paths of the wilderness. Notwithstanding the hardships they had endured, there was not a feeble one in all their ranks. Their feet had not swollen in their long journeys, neither had their clothes grown old. God had subdued before them the fierce beasts of prey and the venomous reptiles of the forest and the desert. If with all these tokens of His love the people still continued to complain, the Lord would withdraw His protection until they should be led to appreciate His merciful care, and return to Him with repentance and humiliation.
Because they had been shielded by divine power they had not realized the countless dangers by which they were continually surrounded. In their ingratitude and unbelief they had anticipated death, and now the Lord permitted death to come upon them. The poisonous serpents that infested the wilderness were called fiery serpents, on account of the terrible effects produced by their sting, it causing violent inflammation and speedy death. As the protecting hand of God was removed from Israel, great numbers of the people were attacked by these venomous creatures.
Now there was terror and confusion throughout the encampment. In almost every tent were the dying or the dead. None were secure. Often the silence of night was broken by piercing cries that told of fresh victims. All were busy in ministering to the sufferers, or with agonizing care endeavoring to protect those who were not yet stricken. No murmuring now escaped their lips. When compared with the present suffering, their former difficulties and trials seemed unworthy of a thought.
The people now humbled themselves before God. They came to Moses with their confessions and entreaties. “We have sinned,” they said, “for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee.” Only a little before, they had accused him of being their worst enemy, the cause of all their distress and afflictions. But even when the words were upon their lips, they knew that the charge was false; and as soon as real trouble came they fled to him as the only one who could intercede with God for them. “Pray unto the Lord,” was their cry, “that He take away the serpents from us.”
Moses was divinely commanded to make a serpent of brass resembling the living ones, and to elevate it among the people. To this, all who had been bitten were to look, and they would find relief. He did so, and the joyful news was sounded throughout the encampment that all who had been bitten might look upon the brazen serpent and live. Many had already died, and when Moses raised the serpent upon the pole, some would not believe that merely gazing upon that metallic image would heal them; these perished in their unbelief. Yet there were many who had faith in the provision which God had made. Fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters were anxiously engaged in helping their suffering, dying friends to fix their languid eyes upon the serpent. If these, though faint and dying, could only once look, they were perfectly restored.
The people well knew that there was no power in the serpent of brass to cause such a change in those who looked upon it. The healing virtue was from God alone. In His wisdom He chose this way of displaying His power. By this simple means the people were made to realize that this affliction had been brought upon them by their sins. They were also assured that while obeying God they had no reason to fear, for He would preserve them.
The lifting up of the brazen serpent was to teach Israel an important lesson. They could not save themselves from the fatal effect of the poison in their wounds. God alone was able to heal them. Yet they were required to show their faith in the provision which He had made. They must look in order to live. It was their faith that was acceptable with God, and by looking upon the serpent their faith was shown. They knew that there was no virtue in the serpent itself, but it was a symbol of Christ; and the necessity of faith in His merits was thus presented to their minds. Heretofore many had brought their offerings to God, and had felt that in so doing they made ample atonement for their sins. They did not rely upon the Redeemer to come, of whom these offerings were only a type. The Lord would now teach them that their sacrifices, in themselves, had no more power or virtue than the serpent of brass, but were, like that, to lead their minds to Christ, the great sin offering.
“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,” even so was the Son of man “lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:14, 15. All who have ever lived upon the earth have felt the deadly sting of “that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan.” Revelation 12:9. The fatal effects of sin can be removed only by the provision that God has made. The Israelites saved their lives by looking upon the uplifted serpent. That look implied faith. They lived because they believed God's word, and trusted in the means provided for their recovery. So the sinner may look to Christ, and live. He receives pardon through faith in the atoning sacrifice. Unlike the inert and lifeless symbol, Christ has power and virtue in Himself to heal the repenting sinner.
While the sinner cannot save himself, he still has something to do to secure salvation. “Him that cometh to Me,” says Christ, “I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:37. But we must come to Him ; and when we repent of our sins, we must believe that He accepts and pardons us. Faith is the gift of God, but the power to exercise it is ours. Faith is the hand by which the soul takes hold upon the divine offers of grace and mercy.
Nothing but the righteousness of Christ can entitle us to one of the blessings of the covenant of grace. There are many who have long desired and tried to obtain these blessings, but have not received them, because they have cherished the idea that they could do something to make themselves worthy of them. They have not looked away from self, believing that Jesus is an all-sufficient Saviour. We must not think that our own merits will save us; Christ is our only hope of salvation. “For there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.
When we trust God fully, when we rely upon the merits of Jesus as a sin-pardoning Saviour, we shall receive all the help that we can desire. Let none look to self, as though they had power to save themselves. Jesus died for us because we were helpless to do this. In Him is our hope, our justification, our righteousness. When we see our sinfulness we should not despond and fear that we have no Saviour, or that He has no thoughts of mercy toward us. At this very time He is inviting us to come to Him in our helplessness and be saved.
Many of the Israelites saw no help in the remedy which Heaven had appointed. The dead and dying were all around them, and they knew that, without divine aid, their own fate was certain; but they continued to lament their wounds, their pains, their sure death, until their strength was gone, and their eyes were glazed, when they might have had instant healing. If we are conscious of our needs, we should not devote all our powers to mourning over them. While we realize our helpless condition without Christ, we are not to yield to discouragement, but rely upon the merits of a crucified and risen Saviour. Look and live. Jesus has pledged His word; He will save all who come unto Him. Though millions who need to be healed will reject His offered mercy, not one who trusts in His merits will be left to perish.
Many are unwilling to accept of Christ until the whole mystery of the plan of salvation shall be made plain to them. They refuse the look of faith, although they see that thousands have looked, and have felt the efficacy of looking, to the cross of Christ. Many wander in the mazes of philosophy, in search of reasons and evidence which they will never find, while they reject the evidence which God has been pleased to give. They refuse to walk in the light of the Sun of Righteousness, until the reason of its shining shall be explained. All who persist in this course will fail to come to a knowledge of the truth. God will never remove every occasion for doubt. He gives sufficient evidence on which to base faith, and if this is not accepted, the mind is left in darkness. If those who were bitten by the serpents had stopped to doubt and question before they would consent to look, they would have perished. It is our duty, first, to look; and the look of faith will give us life.

so ranking stuff seems to be becoming more popular and because my hyperfixation on this amazing show is very slowly dying i wanted to send it off by ranking and reviewing all the seasons and episodes, the way im gonna do this is to review every half a season once every 3 days or so just so i can get some rest and that yall won't get completely spammed with this. of course since a lot of my fictional others are in this show im going to be biased but ill try my best not to be, emphasis on try. but before we start i just want to mention the box art for the middle, i just think they're very neat and the first two seasons have a reversible case which i love, the season 1 reversible box art even has bob on it with the hecks which only proves my point that he was going to be a main character but got extremely underutilized. enough gabbin, anyway onto half of season 1 under da cut.
Tumblr media
pilot
very creative title, i know but for a pilot episode, it still holds up. of course, a lot of things are different from the rest of the series like the hecks having a different house and the music cues and just the music in general having a somewhat different vibe that i can't really describe, actually the whole episode has a somewhat different vibe from the rest of the series, like they put a brownish filter over everything, it's still a good vibe, just different. i love how straightforward mike is, how frankie befriends this girl for a bit just for her to leave frankie in the middle of nowhere and how they somewhat forshadow stuff for future episodes. all around, it's a good episode.
the cheerleader
i completely forgot that this was the episode where they sold their soul to frugal hoosier, i thought they always went their. anyway i love how axl moves in this episode, he moves like a cartoon character, it's amazing. this episode is really funny, a lot of iconic moments are from this episode, the jellybean car, sue trying on glasses, ehlert ranting, "no payments until 2009!", it's a great episode that i enjoy a lot, top of the list so far.
the floating anniversary
doris the dog suffers from secondhand smoking and sue tries to get attention from a cute boy at school while frankie gets stressed, that's the plot really. i love whenever one of the hecks leaves bob with something they always come back to him causing a fire. i also love how they referenced the previous episode by having ehlert notice bob's house plant on his desk and him ranting again, i don't know if it was even a reference of not but i love stuff like that, it rewards the viewer for watching. also just the ending is very sweet, bob has his own family for a bit and he info dumps all of them with a wife swap episode. i love this episode so ill put it below the cheerleader.
the trip
the kids forgetting sue's name while singing happy birthday to her and the "jesus wore sandals" from axl is probably a lot more funny to me than it should have been. sue did really deserve that trip which makes the reveal of frankie not mailing her thing even more shitty but at least frankie makes up for it cause she's so genuinely upset with herself and lets sue yell at her and doesn't yell back, she's actually happy sue is angry with her because sue finally finds her voice. also brick having to deal with olive is kinda how i feel about irl relationships. putting this below the floating anniversary.
"i only got two thoughts in my head, driving and sex. oh, grades. i mean, driving and grades."
the block party
i just realized how kinda depressed axl seems in season 1 like everything to him is lame and he seems to be never in the mood or at least his tone is very monotone. anyway, frankie is jelly that axl gave his old jersey to sophie instead of her but axl makes up for it by giving it to sue cause he felt bad for her not making ball girl and it's very sweet. again a very sweet ending, mike allowing himself to lose the lawn mower race just so he can take brick to a book signing. putting this below pilot.
the front door
ehlert threatens his employees with having to wear a fursuit outside if they don't make a sale by the end of the week so frankie and bob team up as good cop and good cop while axl destroys the front door with facts and logic. speaking of axl, just watching him being a smartass is so enjoyable and i feel a bit bad for laughing but all of sue's photos are absolute masterpieces. ill put this over the trip.
the scratch
ehlert wants to air an old commercial for ehlert motors but it's racist so bob tries to write a new one for him while the hecks panic about trash day causing brick to accidentally get hit by a beer bottle thrown by frankie which makes it look like he's been intentionally hit. i love how axl jokes around and just asks questions about how cool forster families are, he's such a little shit, i love it. im puttin this over the front door.
"in my old commercial i was beautiful, bob! what'd you do to me?"
and right after being asked, bob just runs away.
thanksgiving
after feeling unappreciated and stressed frankie cancels thanksgiving for the hecks, and bob also. this is the episode to introduce the canon homosexual himself, brad bottig and he's such a delight. i love how mike and frankie realize brad is definitely not into girls quicker than when brad realized. i really really enjoy the corn maze part with axl and brick and that creepy ghost dude, it shows us that axl actually cares about brick and id like to think that creepy ghost dude is axl's and sue's anxiety of losing brick, since he makes another appearance in a different episode. i always enjoy myself when i rewatch this episode so ill put it over the scratch.
"please help me find my brother. he's lost and im so scared."
"um, what's he wearing?"
"uh, he's got, like, a green jacket and a yellow hat, and- oh, my god, he's dressed like corn!"
siblings
i remember watching this episode when i was much younger and getting really annoyed when it showed axl, sue and brick watching the same shit on different tvs right in front of frankie. the realization on mike's face when he figures out aunt edie is starting to lose it and him genuinely thinking aunt edie had died at work is priceless. i love how axl, sue and brick start bonding as soon as it becomes kids vs adults when playing whatever sport they were playing, i dunno, im not a sport dude. again a nice, sweet and funny ending that i feel like almost everyone can relate to, laughing at something stupid their parent did. putting this over the trip.
christmas
brick becomes an atheist while everyone tries to convince him otherwise- wait wrong christmas episode. mike tries to handle christmas after shit talking how frankie does it but of course fails right at the end. bob crying to himself in choir because of how lonely he is, is so depressing, i feel so bad for him. brick making the mall santa depressed is so hilarious, the way he looks at brick, he looks like he's going cry. the hecks literally almost die twice in a row and that somehow makes brick not worry about death. the end with sue crying because she found brad with another boy smoking is really funny cuz get it? in some countries cigarettes are called fag- putting this over siblings
"my friends came by, called me a seaman."
the jeans
brick tries to look after doris while sue goes through her mood swings, brick constantly forgetting about doris only to get a "ohh" and him walking out of frame is hilarious. i absolutely love it when mike mimics axl, he can be so sassy sometimes, and him buying axl's car for less money than sue's jeans is also funny. also doris gives birth offscreen in this episode, then we literally never see her puppies again which im pretty sure the the sole purpose was because the actors just wanted to play with puppies for a bit. ill be putting this below pilot.
the neighbor
the episode where they introduced the glossners, frankie is so sexually intimidated by rita, she's her bisexual awakening. i love how sue and carly start dance fighting with two of the glossners, who just stand there, push them over and take her boombox. i adore brick just wanting to hang out with axl, they're both very cute, even if the whole reason why axl is spending time with brick is just so brick will do his homework for him. ill put this over the trip.
the ranking so far
so far this is a great season, even just the "low points" are still really good and always make me laugh and smile which it was why it was so difficult to rank and choose which ones i preferred but i tried my best with this..
12. the block party
11. the jeans
10. pilot
9. the trip
8. the neighbor
7. siblings
6. christmas
5. the front door

(Spoilers for part 5. Also this is pure headcanon and speculation based on the canon material.)
One thing that I never saw commented on the JJBA fandom, with exception of a Japanese mutual on Twitter, is the name and the sigil design of Passione’s crime organization.
--
The word Passione can refer in italian, among other things, passion the emotion, the burning desire and want over someone or something; and the Passion of Jesus Christ, the final period of His life where He had to endure and suffer before being crucified and save humanity. Considering the fact that Diavolo, the founder of the organization, was raised by a priest; both meanings can be applied to him: the first is his desire to overcome and endure his percieved trials, paranoia, fears and enemies, and to stay on top of the social ladder in all Italy.
The religious motive may refer not just to his name (which, besides the Devil reference, it’s also a reference to an Italian spicy tomato sauce Fra Diavolo.), but probably also to his relationship with his foster father, religion itself and the village where he was raised; which based on the manga canon and the anime, it seems that Diavolo’s life there wasn’t exactly hunky dory. And therefore, he had to endure suffering but instead overcome his demons (no pun inteded) and become someone who cares about others, Diavolo became the greedy, selfish, violent and paranoid monster we all know.
--
Then we have the sigil:
Tumblr media
...Where do I even begin? *cracks knuckles* Pure interpretation/headcanon time!
So: the three “slots” in the center could be a corrupted version of the Holy Trinity. In this case, the lack of presence of it in Italy. After all, this is a crime organization with a huge influence in the country and even overseas.  “Where’s your God now?!” - Diavolo, probably
The two arrows pointing up and down could refer to Diavolo’s literal duality, Doppio and himself. At the end of the day, both are at the top of the group.
The six “structures” around the first two symbols could represent the six arrows found in Egypt that allowed Diavolo gain his stand, the funds to gain access to the mafia world and build his own crime group.
---
BUT. Because there’s always a but.
But both name and sigil can also work as forshadowing to Giorno’s adventure and objective, as both Diavolo and he are foils to each other.
Giorno, since he was a child, endured a lot until he found the resolve to overcome it. His mission is to take over Passione and make Italy a better place; and during this mission he endures, suffers and sacrifices a lot, including losing friends/allies.
The sigil, therefore, can reflect that: The three “slots” look exactly like Giorno’s famous curls, the two arrows can both represent his encounters with the stand arrows (Polpo’s arrow and Polnareff’s arrow), his own duality - being the child of Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando -, and/or the fact that he’s a criminal with good intentions. The six “structures” would represent Bruno, Abbacchio, Mista, Narancia, Fugo and Trish, his companions during his harsh journey to defeat Diavolo and reach his coveted place in Passione.
---
Or maybe I’m overthinking. You tell me.
Seriously though. How come no one has attempted to ask Araki this kind of stuff after all these years...?

The Chosen ( Opinion/ Review) 01x01/02
About this post....
Starting a review or opinion on such a sensitive topic is difficult, but what I have found has pushed me to do it. I must also admit that the simple fact of watching the series has come out of curiosity pushed by a certain acquaintance. This humble post is dedicated to that person.
The Chosen. A series of (at the time of writing this post) two seasons. The first season has 8 episodes, so I'll cover two for each review. That is, four reviews for the first season.
To do this I will use a method similar to my previous reviews. It will be done with great respect and always speaking from my humble opinion. If possible, I will try to avoid spoilers. This post is structured in two main blocks: Characters and Society.
As I always say, this is based on my opinion and feelings when watching the series. It is not intended to offend anyone.
Without further do,  let's get started.
.................................................. ............
Characters: Two sides of the same coin.
Religion and the history that surrounds Jesus has always been a topic that has brought debate, more specifically because of that halo of partiality that surrounds his history and and the one of his disciples. Investigating in my past and in television representations about the life of the Savior, I have realized that the disciples and Jesus were always constructed  under the idea of being perfect humans, whose weaknesses were erased, softened or overshadowed by their faith. Here is the first point that The Chosen manages to "turn around." It’s characters (and with this I dare to speak in general lines) are built from their human side. In other words, they are ordinary people, with problems of the average person of the time who were part of a revolution that lasted generations. In my humble opinion, basing the characters in such a simple, and "earthy" way makes it easier for viewers to identify with them, while also sticking to the message of Jesus in the New Testament passages, which show him coming closerto ordinary people, not just the rich. Each of the characters, from the main ones to the secondary ones, can be people from the daily life of any of the viewers.
Now, the other point that has caught my attention is that this story begins with two specific characters: Peter and Mary Magdalene. Perhaps for many it was a random decision, but I think there is more behind this. If we think about the Christian religion and the teachings of biblical dogma, we can find references to Peter, the Pillar of the Church, the fisher of men, and to Magdalena, that woman who managed to redeem herself and was the first to witness the return to life of the Savior.  Both characters have their importance within the Religion and it has been written that they have had rivalries or at least that Peter has expressed some jealousy towards Magdalene. Much has been theorized about both characters and their weight or true role in the history of the Savior. Even more, I consider that, having shown them with the same humble origin shows that both are equal in the eyes of Jesus. Introducing them both in the first chapter, using the gender binary shows that both men and women are of utmost importance to Jesus and his path towards a transformation of religion, one that leaves no one behind and measures the faithful. by the wealth of their faith, not by their origin, social, economic and / or gender. Both characters are the object of transmission of the story of the Savior.
Society: A forshadowing of what’s to come?
Another benefit of writing characters in a "human" light is showing society and its characteristics. Human beings have lived in society for many, many years and throughout those years many things have been modified, but there are others that have remained and are what we see here:
-Economic system:
“ Money makes the World go round.”
It is no secret that money has great power in society. It gives status, lifestyle and the power to do what you want. This has not been the exception in the times narrated in the series, since we have tax collectors, gambling, commerce (even a crisis) and the narrative that money can keep the roof over the heads of the characters. It could also be said that these problems belong to the modern world. Money (and perhaps a certain ambition) is what moves the strings of many of the protagonists, also showing what happens in reality. Money is our puppeteer.
-Power:
Before I have spoken of the power that money gives, but in the series another power is also shown. That of the Priests. Faith, like money, can move masses. In the series, it can be seen in details such as the luxuries or the treatment they were given, which used to touch that of monarchs. This is where influence and rub shoulders with political power begins. An "equation" that works and is maintained, I would dare say,  to this day.
- Disgregation:
Society is not just that which unites us, but also that which disintegrates us. The series has been in charge of showing it explicitly (the red section) and implicitly (hidden so as not to be seen).
The touches that this series gives are subtle that some are in dialogues or in simple actions carried out by the characters.
( It should be clarified that I have not made specific mention of minutes of the episode to avoid spoilers.)
To conclude, I think this series is built to be a kind of forshadow of human history in social aspects. There are small and implicit details that help to create a show that not only shows the story of Jesus and his apostles, but also stops to take a look at society. Although I have covered the first chapters of the first season, I am sure there will be many more material to analyze in the future
