Canon/Headcanon Voice Cast
//So I have a whole page on the blog talking about the headcanon voice actors, but I'm making a post here so people can access it easier, especially since I'm starting to realize that Tumblr has, for some reason, made editing the pages themselves a lot more complicated.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
Tumblr media
We got a little winter wonderland last Sunday night and into Monday. Overnight we got a tiny bit more. Not enough to cripple Charlottesville or the surrounding area, just enough to make it really dangerous to use the roads on Monday and Tuesday. ❄️
The remainder of the week has remained below freezing and next week is expected to be the same. 🥶
My coffee is piping hot and I’m ready to share some links. I hope you enjoy them.
Oh, I almost forgot! I now have a store for Stream.

Deadly Los Angeles wildfires: New evacuation orders as biggest blaze stretches east
Being a native Californian I understand what these poor folks are going through. This sort of thing has become all too familiar to people in Norther and Southern California. There is a Fire Season in California for heavens sake and each year brings some kind of fresh hell to the state.
Oh, and those poor people have more of this to look forward to due to climate change. Joy.
If you think the response to the fires was botched, think again. These fires spread quickly due to Santa Anna winds blowing up to 98MPH. It’s believed that caused the fire to spread quickly and now there are fire fighters working around the clock on four different fronts.
Here’s hoping they get them under control soon! ❤️

So, you are considering creating a personal website. Congratulations! In my opinion, that’s one of the smartest decisions you can make.
Now, more than ever, is a great time to create a weblog. Social media companies like Facebook and X have become more hateful than ever. It’s time to own your content and stop feeding the corporate marketing machines with your stories.
I recommend Micro.blog for blogging and Mastodon for your social timeline. Micro.blog also has a social timeline that is compatible with Mastodon and Bluesky. It’s well worth the $5/month. I haven’t used Micro.one but it’s a less expensive version on Micro.blog at a super cheap $1/month.
This blog is hosted by Micro.blog so it’s extremely easy for me to recommend.

In a remarkable two-year effort, the maintainers of the popular Fish Shell have officially released a beta of Fish 4.0—this time written almost entirely in Rust instead of C++.
I find this fascinating. I always tell folks that rewrites are typically the death of a thing. This team may be an exception to that rule.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this project to see how folks feel about the new shell.

Automattic is cutting its weekly contributions to WordPress.org from 3,988 hours to 45 hours, escalating tensions with rival WP Engine amid their ongoing legal dispute. The dramatic reduction comes after a federal court granted WP Engine an injunction over Automattic’s handling of a disputed plugin.
This is a wild turn of events I’d imagine is designed to get WP Engine to contribute more to the WordPress project because they’ll need to if they’d like to see new features added.
I don’t want anything to do with the politics behind this. Wordpress is a great piece of software and I hope it continues to be. Not updating as frequently may be a good thing. It’ll allow the community to take a deep breath and not worry about future changes causing additional bugs. It will also allow folks to stabilize and fix whatever bugs they’re aware of since that looks like a primary focus going forward. I hope it works. 🤞🏼

With this post I will concentrate on the here and now: how to use C’s future lifesaving defer feature with existing tools and compilers.
Defer is one of those keywords/features I really appreciate about Swift. It’s really nice to have a compiler enforced way to guarantee your code can cleanup, even if something goes wonky. 👍🏼

AMD introduced a powerful new laptop chip today, the Ryzen AI Max. The company compared its new chip to Apple’s M4 line in several benchmarks, but there’s a very important detail it left out.
Heh, I didn’t realize AMD didn’t compare their new chip to Apple’s M4 Max. Hey, AMD still has a generally useful chip and I’m sure laptop makers are ready for it.

We maintain multiple Content Delivery Network (CDN) instances for delivering .NET builds. Some end in azureedge.net. These domains are hosted by edg.io, which will soon cease operations due to bankruptcy. We are required to migrate to a new CDN and will be using new domains going forward.
One would think Microsoft, with its deep pockets, would spend a little cash to keep this bankrupt company afloat while they properly transition their services to their own data center. It’s also odd to me that Microsoft would use a third-party for this service being its important infrastructure. Weird.
I would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall of those meetings.

Recently I diagnosed and fixed two frame pointer unwinding crashes in Go. The root causes were two flavors of the same problem: buggy assembly code clobbered a frame pointer. By “clobbered” I mean wrote over the value without saving & restoring it. One bug clobbered the frame pointer register. The other bug clobbered a frame pointer saved on the stack. This post explains the bugs, talks a bit about ABIs and calling conventions, and makes some recommendations for how to avoid the bugs.
Oh my goodness I love reading tech articles like this. Go is one of many new classes of memory safe languages. But the memory safety is only as good as the language team’s tooling.
This article explains how one person just made Go a bit more safe for all of us.

In 2017, Chris buggered off to mess around with AI. Tim Cook’s MBA buddies began to wriggle their tendrils into Swift and guide it towards its next life stage.
Swift has 217 keywords? Good grief. I don’t use many of those, I’m certain of it. I’m not very bright and I’m very slow to learn new stuff. I’m champing at the bit to fully embrace SwiftUI and async/await support in Swift 6.0. Ive found async/await to be particularly difficult to grok. The current networking code in Stream is working just fine so I have plenty of time to adjust to async/await as long as Apple doesn’t deprecate their old support. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏼

The Washington Post on Tuesday laid off roughly 100 employees across its business division, the latest indication of the newspaper’s financial woes after subscribers and staffers revolted over owner Jeff Bezos’s decision to block an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
I’m hoping Kara Swisher and a group of investors purchase WaPo from Bezos. I don’t. Think it’s for sale but I believe Kara could turn it around and make it into the countries best source of investigative reporting, political or otherwise. I think it would also become a lot braver in its coverage of political corruption in DC.
Politics
I’m trying something a bit different this week. I’m grouping all my political links and opinions here at the bottom so folks can skip it altogether if they’re sick of reading about it.
I’ve had some folks reach out to say they like Saturday Morning Coffee, except for the politics. I understand. I’m sick of it to, but I can’t ignore what’s happened and is about to happen in our country.
So, please feel free to skip this part. It’s about politics! ❤️

As Big Tech scrambles to placate Donald Trump before he reassumes office, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Tuesday that his company would replace their fact-checkers with user-generated Community Notes, beginning in the United States and then rolling out globally.
I’ve said time and again that Zuck is a sociopath, maybe psychopath? At minimum he’s a narcissist, right? (I’m not a psychologist, but I play one on Saturday mornings.)
This sudden capitulation to Trump is pure cowardice. Marmalade Messiah threatened Zuck and he folded like a cheap suit.
Facebook is now compliant with the destruction of Democracy. Shameful.

those are hurricane-force winds. it’s a hurricane made out of fucking fire. one ember can travel miles, land somewhere else, and start a whole new fire — and that’s exactly what’s happening right now all over the Los Angeles area.
It’s really pathetic that Orange Man and Space Karen have tried to turn an absolute tragedy into a political chess piece.
The fire is tragic whether started intentionally or not. It’s not because of DEI or some government conspiracy. It’s tragic. Plain and simple.

Tim Cook gives $1 million to Trump’s inauguration committee. I think this event will be a turning point in how we view the Apple CEO.
I didn’t expect Tim Cook to kiss Trump’s big ass. But here we are. Shameful.

That is a great summary of what tech CEO’s have been doing. Buying $1M knee pads to kiss Trump’s ass.
I hope democracy can survive the next four years, Trump doesn’t declare himself benevolent dictator, and leaves office after his lame duck term. Here’s hoping.

Japan court rules it is 'unconstitutional' to require transgender sterilization in landmark case
Jessie Yeung and Francesca Annio, CNN:
Japan's top court has ruled that a government requirement for transgender people to be sterilized before they could be legally recognized was unconstitutional, in a victory for the country's LGBTQ community years in the making.
"The restriction of freedom from bodily harm under this provision has become increasingly unnecessary at this point in time and the degree of the restriction has become more serious. Therefore, the provision in question is not necessary and reasonable," the court said in its ruling.
It added that reproductive rights are "considered to be fundamental human rights" under the constitution. "The fact that they must unwillingly undergo removal of their reproductive capacity in order to match their self-identified sex with their legal sex is a cruel choice," the judgment said.

Israel vs Palestine
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, deeply ingrained and tragic, continues to seize global attention. This blog will give insights into the recent surge in violence, the historical origins, and the complex intricacies shaping the conflict.
Among the most contentious issues in this conflict is the status of Jerusalem. With religious significance for Jews, Muslims, and Christians, the city is a hotspot for disputes. Both Israelis and Palestinians lay claim to it as their capital, with East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, remaining a persistent source of tension.
On October 7, 2023, an invasion by militants from the Gaza Strip triggered a formal Israeli declaration of war against Hamas. Gaza witnessed relentless Israeli airstrikes, reducing neighborhoods to ruins. Tragically, the death toll in Israel surpassed a thousand, according to Israel Army Radio's figures as of October 10, 2023.
The roots of this conflict date back to the late 19th century when Jewish immigrants arrived in Palestine, then part of the Ottoman Empire. The increase of immigrants led to growing tensions and disputes over land and identity.
An issue central to the conflict is the circumstance of Palestinian refugees. Since Israel's establishment in 1948, millions of Palestinians have been displaced from their homes, with their right of return to ancestral lands remaining a deeply rooted point of contention in negotiations.
In 1948, Israel declared its independence, leading to a war with neighboring Arab states. This critical moment set the stage for a cycle of violence, territorial disputes, and struggles for sovereignty that persist.
The 1967 Arab-Israeli war, or the Six-Day War, represents a significant turning point. During this conflict, Israel gained control of vital territories, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem, which remain central to the ongoing struggle.
The conflict is marked by an array of challenges, encompassing Jerusalem's status, Palestinian refugee rights, and the establishment of secure borders. These issues remain deeply divisive.
Recent years have seen various developments, including the Abraham Accords, through which Israel normalized relations with some Arab countries. Nevertheless, the continuing violence and the deep-seated issues continue to pose significant hurdles to a lasting resolution.
Over time, multiple peace initiatives have been pursued, with the Oslo Accords of the 1990s representing a significant step forward. These accords aimed to advance the peace process and facilitate Palestinian self-rule expansion in the West Bank. Yet, a lasting and comprehensive solution remains elusive.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains deeply rooted and multifaceted. Recent events underscore the ongoing human suffering and the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to forge a just and enduring peace.

大英博物館が無断使用、翻訳者に支払い合意(CNN 翻訳)
CNN Jessie Yeung 2023年8月9日(水)午前3時7分掲載
Tumblr media

Harvest Town Easter Eggs
Tumblr media
Deserted Factory
At Midnight on a Sunday, you’re able to see Foxy outside the Deserted Factory. Little did you know, you can actually enter the factory through the little door on the right. Head to the door under the ‘_art’ sign.
Tumblr media
Entering in the Deserted Factory
You cannot go far in the deserted factory but you are able to access 2 fishing spots. In this fishing spots, you are able to catch piranhas and oysters in your fishing traps. I suggest you put 2 traps here and check back every few days.
Tumblr media
North Mount
At the top of the ranch, you’ll see this wall connecting to the other side of this mountain. If you run towards it, you’ll be teleported to the south mount where the huge rats are.
Tumblr media
South Mount
There’s not particular reason why they put this shortcut since the long road to this side is not exactly long. Maybe to let you have a sense of what it feels like to go through platform 9 3/4 ?
Tumblr media
Teleporting Well- Front of  Residence
This is a useful teleportation Easter egg. Right below the residence, you’ll see an abandoned well. Click on it to be teleported to the back of the Taoist Temple.
Tumblr media
Teleporting Well - Back of Taoist Temple
When you are at the back of the taoist temple, you’ll be caught between 2 trees. Go right, down till you hit the temple and finally left till you come out from the side. You can also cut down those trees if you need more wood.
Tumblr media
The Ring reference near the RV
Aside from the huge bumble bee from Transformer, you are able to see a reference to The Ring if you click on the abandoned televisions beside the transformer.
Tumblr media
Unseen headstone at the cemetery
Next to the river at the cemetery, you’ll interact with an invisible icon.
Tumblr media
If you interact with it, it seems that it is an invisible tombstone.
Tumblr media
Shabby Hot Spring - Abu and Barl Apperances
Abu and Barl will only appear in the winter on fridays between 22:00 - 0:00. As they will overlap each other in the hot spring, it is recommended that you camp at the closed off area and interact with them as soon as the clock turns 22:00.
Since they only show up at such a limited time period it is advice that you give them courtesy letters to speed up the friendship level. The courtesy letters can only be used if your friendship with the NPC have not reached level 3.
Tumblr media
Barl
Barl likes Ornament so get any and give it to him.. I give him the blue necklace in a box.
Tumblr media
Abu
Abu likes insects. I give him the brown beetle.
Tumblr media
Picnic in front of Cottage
Sometimes you see Jessie and Lulu having a picnic with the teddy bear in front of Jessie’s house. It is sweet for Lulu seems defensive and kind of embarrassed by it but she will do it week after week for Jessie’s happiness.
Tumblr media
Every clear morning next to the wishing tree, you’ll see the female town folks dancing while the male and children stand around to watch. In a way, it’s a bit creepy that the male town folks are staring at the females dancing but it makes completing the quest so much easier since almost everyone is in the same area.
Tumblr media
Hotpot Party near Smithy
Every clear Saturday night 18:00 - 22:00,you are able to enjoy a hotpot party at the pond near the smithy. This party is filled with young towns folk from children to young adults. The older folks will be at the bar. You can click on the huge pot and eat until you are full. Food helps with your health and vitality.
Tumblr media
Beach Party - Hidden Story
Every year on the 7th during Summer, you will be invited to a Beach Party by the Mayor. You are required to bring a gift for the gift exchange. If you click on this sign next to the water, you will unlock a hidden story about Barton the town fool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gary Cruz and David Hanks in front of Bar
At the bottom of the main town area, in front of the bar you are able to overhear various conversations by various townsman. From Adam trying to convince John to sell the town to him to Gary and David’s high school reunion. Gary and David’s discussion seemed normal enough since they were childhood friends and were often seen together as a trio with Steve at the bar. However, what’s suspicious is Gary’s wife standing a fair distance away observing them.
Tumblr media
Elaine Terry next to Resort Villa
Elaine seem like a loving wife in a happy marriage with Gary but is she really? Her staring at her husband suspiciously from a distance makes one thinks otherwise. Maybe she is jealous about her husband spending more time with his friends than with her? What is she staring at them for?
Tumblr media
Elaine Terry beside Fishing Shop
Another area that Elaine stands in a suspicious manner is on the beach. If you talk to her, her dialogue make her seemed like she is stressed or spaced out. What is she thinking about and why is she staring straight to the left?
Tumblr media
Lulu Lopez flirting
Lulu Lopez is a typical tsundere where she seemed like she hate everyone but Jessi. Her conversations with you seemed mean at first but the more you talk to her, the less sarcastic she becomes or at least sarcastic in a different manner.
Tumblr media
Lulu and Jessie trying to find the butterfly in the forest
One of Jessi’s friend is a huge butterfly where only Jessi can see and talk to her. Lulu being Jessi’s loyal friend will accompany Jessi in the forest at a certain time of the day for her to find the butterfly. Even if the forest became a field.
Tumblr media
Allen family at the Horse Farm
Have you ever wonder why is the mother of the Allen’s family close to her family? Aside from her blaming the father for not giving her the life she wants, she do not attempt to socialize with her children too, staying in the room watching television while the father and the kids stayed outside around the chess set.
Tumblr media
John Gray at the Bulletin Board at 7am
At 7am, you can see John Gray checking or putting notices at the Bulletin Board.
Tumblr media
Chris Trump at the Resort Villa
Sometimes Chris Trump think of unusual things that sets him apart from his father.
Tumblr media
May bringing the kids to the Horse Farm
At certain time of the day, you can see May and the kids outside the fence of the horse farm. If you are lucky, she will warn you not to touch the horse butts.
Tumblr media
Lee Yeung and Lee Yau talking at Vine Cottage
Although the two brothers do not live together, the mother and Lee Yau will visit the secluded Lee Yeung to check in on him or bring him food.
Tumblr media
Foxy in the Forest
At the same area of where fisher was, you can find Foxy in the forest. Foxy appears at mysterious places without much explanation as to why she was there.
Tumblr media
David Hanks and Gary Cruz at my farm
At one of the cut scene of David Hanks/Gary Cruz quest, you can see these characters at your customized farms. This was an interesting inculcation in the game for your farm always seemed secluded from the NPCs and town.
Tumblr media
Adam Ford fainted in Occult Cave
Lastly, at one of the quest, you will find Adam Ford fainted in Occult Cave. Rumours are he was finding things he should not be finding (money, diamonds, mermadid) that lead him to that state. You’ll activate a quest after you see that cut scene. But do note that you will still see the regular Adam Ford with his usual normal dialogue as if nothing of such had ever happened at his scheduled places so that will bring some confusion.

17,000-Year-Old Kangaroo Painting Is Oldest-Known Australian Rock Art

17,000-Year-Old Kangaroo Painting Is Oldest-Known Australian Rock Art
Tumblr media
Researchers have discovered that a six-foot-long painting of a kangaroo on the ceiling of a rock shelter was created between 17,500 and 17,100 years ago, making it Australia’s oldest known intact rock art. While the images had been known to researchers since the 1990s (and likely known for far longer to Aboriginal populations), their age had been unknown due to the limitations of dating rock art.
The researchers, who published their work in the journal Nature Human Behaviour, however, were able to date the paintings by using an innovative technique that relied on wasp nests. Because mud wasps have inhabited the cave for tens of thousands of years, the team was able to use radiocarbon dating to determine the age of 27 nests found beneath and atop 16 of the paintings. Jessie Yeung reports for CNN that the ancient nests contained charcoal from bushfires, as well as fragments of plant and animal material, all of which contain carbon that could be dated. Because the large kangaroo had nests both above and below it, it was possible to figure out a fairly specific range of dates when it could have been produced.
USA Today’s Doyle Rice reports that the team were also able to date somewhat more recent ancient paintings in the area, including a snake, a lizard-like creature, and additional kangaroo-like marsupials. The painters used ochre that produced a reddish mulberry pigment, which came from the presence of iron oxide.
“This is a significant find as through these initial estimates, we can understand something of the world these ancient artists lived in,” lead researcher Damien Finch, an earth science researcher from the University of Melbourne says in a statement. “We can never know what was in the mind of the artist when he/she painted this piece of work more than 600 generations ago, but we do know that the naturalistic period extended back into the last ice age, so the environment was cooler and drier than today.”
The study of the paintings in the Kimberly region is part of a collaboration that includes the Balanggarra Aboriginal Corporation, which represents the area’s Indigenous traditional land owners, as well as the universities of Melbourne and Western Australia and the Australian National Science and Technology Organization.

Combining the dating of the wasp nests with information on how the paintings overlapped allows researchers to situate them within the artistic history of the region that scholars have previously documented. Like other images from what’s called the “naturalistic” or “irregular infill animal” period, some of the newly dated art features outlines of life-size animals partly filled with irregular dashes.
As the researchers write in Pursuit, when the artist created the kangaroo painting, sea levels were much lower than they are now, which meant the Kimberley coastline was about 190 miles farther from the rock formation than it is today. As the environment shifted over the following 5,000 years, Indigenous art styles also changed. The dominant style from around 12,000 years ago, known as Gwion Gwion, features more human figures, often wearing headdresses and holding boomerangs. These ancient depictions resemble Aboriginal ceremonial dress found in photographs from the early 20th century. Rock art is important for the transmission of culture in many Indigenous Australian societies.
“It’s important that Indigenous knowledge and stories are not lost and continue to be shared for generations to come,” Cissy Gore-Birch, chair of the Balanggarra Aboriginal Corporation, says in the statement. “The dating of this oldest known painting in an Australian rock shelter holds a great deal of significance for Aboriginal people and Australians and is an important part of Australia’s history.”
Sven Ouzman, an archaeologist at the University of Western Australia who was part of the research, says that the art’s style hints at connections between Indigenous Australians and other ancient people.
“This iconic kangaroo image is visually similar to rock paintings from islands in Southeast Asia dated to more than 40,000 years ago, suggesting a cultural link—and hinting at still older rock art in Australia,” he says in the statement.
Ancient humans arrived in Australia in one or more migrations from Southeast Asia, starting at least 55,000 years ago, per the Australian Museum.
The researchers plan to continue their work by using wasps nests to date additional pieces of art, creating a more definitive timeline of the evolution of the different styles.
