Today is the final POTO performance in Korea. Congratulations on a great 2023-24 season.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but was there any particular reason the recent Korean language production of Phantom had the more uhh full proscenium/angel/chandelier etc etc design as that seems to be a bit rare now. Maybe due to Chinese language productions receiving the reduced world tour sets or along those lines and running around the same time? I was genuinely surprised to see the Korean production had the proper proscenium boing angel
Frankly, I don't know. But little has made me happier than once again seeing the full proscenium, in all its glory, complete with the Golden Angel AND the original chandelier. I thought Japan would be the last man standing, but then South Korea joined the chat. And BOY did they join that chat! They went all in.

And I will forever thank them for that. It will be intriguing to see what an eventual full-scale replica production will do in the future - if it will be the revival staging from West End, the adapted version from the World Tour, or if they do a South Korean move: all in.

In the 25th anniversary, Ramin Karimloo repeats “I love you” in a whisper at least once (in some recordings he repeated it three times)
Building off that last anon you answered, what other interesting things have Phantoms said at the end of the Final Lair besides ILY?
Well besides Scott Davies's "I'm sorry", the other most famous one might be Hugh Panaro whispering "My angel" after Christine leaves. Michael Crawford changing "Christine, I love you" to "Christine, I loved you" for his last performance is also famous. Someone else noted that Mathias Edenborn said, "It was for you" during the ring returning scene, while John Martin Bengtsson called out "Christine?" when he hears her singing 'All I Ask of You', complete with reaching through the portcullis towards her. And Jeon Dong Seok apparently said, "You should be happy", presumably to Christine as she leaves him, while hugging the veil.
Any others? I'm sure there are plenty more!

Squid Game (Season 2)
Tumblr media
TV Shows/Dramas watched in 2024
Squid Game (Season 2, 2024, South Korea)
Director & Writer: Hwang Dong Hyuk
Mini-review:
I didn't quite see the need for more Squid Game; despite the somewhat open ending, the first season was a thoroughly satisfying watch. And now, after seeing the new one, my opinion hasn't really changed. The first half is basically a rehash of the concept and themes, with a slowed-down pace to drag the story out into two seasons. On top of that, more than a few of the new characters are ridiculously annoying (and it doesn't help that half of the cast is made up of awful people). That being said, the games remain thrilling and entertaining, easily the best part of this installment. I'm still curious to see how the story ends, and most of my favorite characters managed to survive, so I will be tuning into the final season next year.
