Elemental Kenways AU
What if Edward got elemental powers after running into some POE, and he, his children, and his grandson were each given earth, water, fire, or air powers.

The Cat King: “I’m such a hopeless romantic, can you believe I’m gonna full on wait here for him to escape hell? I’m practically in a romance movie, can you believe-”
Charles: “So yeah, anyway, gotta go platonically storm hell alone with a bat, a book, and a bomb, for my best mate. What else could I possibly do?

Jenny of oldstones
I found an old piece for Jenny that I never posted! She is one of my absolute fav characters her story is so sad but it’s still beautiful. In my notes for it the flowers in her hair are representative of madness, undying love, love, grief, consuming love, and sorrow.

The nights were drawing in* rapidly now in the wild west Highlands of Scotland, and Algy knew that the months of darkness had arrived. And as the days grew shorter and dimmer, the physical world began to seem stranger and increasingly less distinct; when the light was low it was really quite common to see things that might – or perhaps might not – be there…
While out and about in the gloaming at this particular time of year, Algy had often noticed that eldritch shapes and forms seemed to loom up out of the twilight, or skitter about on the periphery of his vision, and wee flickering lights could sometimes be seen in the blackness of the long, dark nights, where no light should be shining at all. And he had generally found that it was quite impossible to determine whether these phenomena were real or not… whatever that might mean…
So when Algy discovered a patch of shiny red and yellow toadstools which seemed to have popped up out of nowhere overnight, and sat down to study them more closely as the day drew to a close, he was not particularly surprised to observe certain uncanny effects…
But while a fluffy bird may safely take these experiences in his stride – or indeed, in his flight – without undue concern, his human friends who inhabit the ancient lands of darkness are perhaps better advised to follow the poet's advice at this eerie and inhospitable time of year, and stay cosily indoors with their friends, beside a good, warm fire:
Now at our casement the wind is shrilling, Poignant and keen And all the great boughs of the pines between It is harping a lone and hungering strain To the eldritch weeping of the rain; And then to the wild, wet valley flying It is seeking, sighing, Something lost in the summer olden. When night was silver and day was golden; But out on the shore the waves are moaning With ancient and never fulfilled desire, And the spirits of all the empty spaces, Of all the dark and haunted places, With the rain and the wind on their death-white faces, Come to the lure of our leaping fire. But we bar them out with this rose-red splendor From our blithe domain, And drown the whimper of wind and rain With undaunted laughter, echoing long, Cheery old tale and gay old song; Ours is the joyance of ripe fruition, Attained ambition. Ours is the treasure of tested loving, Friendship that needs no further proving; No more of springtime hopes, sweet and uncertain, Here we have largess of summer in fee Pile high the logs till the flame be leaping, At bay the chill of the autumn keeping, While pilgrim-wise, we may go a-reaping In the fairest meadow of memory!
[Algy is reciting the poem By an Autumn Fire by the late 19th/early 20th century Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery.]
*Note: Algy believes that this idiom may not be widely used outside Britain, and therefore refers any reader who may be puzzled to this entry in the Collins online dictionary.

Jenny and Anya would have been such a good duo. A woman whose destiny was out of her control due to her people's quest for vengeance and a literal vengeance demon. Anya would very helpfully give Jenny hundreds of different alternatives regarding Angel's curse, not understanding that a) Jenny did not curse him and b) everyone has moved on ('I once turned someone into a demon and banished them to hell, you really should have done that') while Jenny would give Anya the grace the other Scoobies don't, being a bit older and having been the outsider herself.
Jenny convinces Giles to hire Anya as the cashier for the Magic Box and the two routinely drive him up the wall.

Prince Duncan Targaryen and his wife Jenny of Oldstones 🐛 - ART BY @rozsesandart
Firstborn and heir to the throne after his father, king Aegon V, Duncan was travelling through the Riverlands when he met a mysterious young woman, a commoner, named Jenny of Oldstones. They fell in love, and to be able to marry her Duncan abdicated his position as heir, and was later known as the “dragonfly prince”. Duncan will die at the fire of Summerhall, while Jenny is presumed to have survived but disappeared after the incident, making her story a mystery.

It is funny that people in Westeros are so quick to call a woman "a witch" when she challenges the status quo. Much like in our world of course.
Alys Rivers was the witch queen of Harrenhal because Aemond made her his Lady. Gods forbid, the prince could fall in love with a lowborn woman. She must have "bewitched" him, he couldn't just appreciate her because in the minds of the nobility it was degrading to love a commoner.
Jenny of Oldstones was "a witch" because she claimed that she came from long gone kings. It was too much for the fellow peasants. As if such things like fallen houses never happened. Jenny was too much for the nobility as well because she won the heart of Crown Prince and they couldn't accept a lowborn girl as their future queen.
The funniest rumors were those about Sansa Stark who allegedly turned into a winged wolf and flew out the window when Joffrey died.
Of course I am aware that magic is as real in this universe as anything. And I understand that some women in Westeros and Essos use magic. But the rumors about these women are not so much grounded in people's personal experience with them and their alleged magic as in their prejudices against women in general. A girl got a man above her status? She must have tricked him! A prince gave up his crown for a commoner girl? She must be a witch! A woman ran off from an abusive rich guy? How dared she break free!
