Thinking about how if Jenny did come to London with the others, and if Monty does manage to turn back into a human and ends up joining the agency... there's seven members of the agency. Which means that there's one that matches up with each member of the Endless.
Edwin---well, that one's obvious, isn't it? He's come face to face with Despair, walked in her domain, stared her in the eyes as she quietly declared that they were friends now. He is, at his core, deeply and profoundly sad, and there's no denying that. Until Edwin allows himself to be happy, Despair will always have her hooks in his heart, and even when he's free of them, she will always linger in the faintest parts of his ghostly aura, will always be there whenever he travels through a mirror.
Charles... oh, Charles. We all know which of the Endless he would be the most affected by, don't we? He claims that he can't say he's in love with Edwin back, but the minute those words left his mouth, Desire was up there in their domain, cackling at how fucking idiotic this boy is. If we get a season 2, we will absolutely see them taunting Charles, purring into his ear that they know how much he's been ignoring his own desires and wouldn't it be nice to just acknowledge it, darling? Edwin was able to tell you, why can't you just say it back?
Crystal already feels as if she's losing her mind half the time, and doubly so now that she's fully warring with two very separate sides of herself. Would it really be a stretch for her to try to help a lonely-looking girl with wild red hair one night, only to touch her and immediately get pulled into a world that is a riot of color and confusion and things that don't and shouldn't exist? Delirium would probably be kind to her---her default state tends to be kind, even if not everyone sees it that way---but I doubt Crystal would have a good time there, even as Delirium compliments her on her name and proudly proclaims that she's a shiny rock and a pretty building and a football team and a flying machine all in one.
Niko's lost somewhere right now, and we all know she has a long journey home. I don't think it would be unlikely for her journey to eventually lead her to a palace with a roof made of stars, or a library full of every book that has ever been written---and every book that never has. And Dream might see this girl who doesn't belong in his world, but who can't take his sister's hand, and show her the way back to her friends. After all, she's lost so much and is still full of so much hope, and how could Dream not admire someone like that?
Monty... well, he spends all his time looking up at the stars, and not just because they sparkle and shine and all of his crow instincts say that they're treasures meant to be plucked from the sky. He wants to know the future, his future, to find out whether or not he can be something other than just a witch's pet. And maybe, some of his wanderings will one day lead him into a labyrinth, and he'll come out the other side in the garden of Destiny. Will Destiny let Monty read from his book? Probably not, but I think being there might be comfort enough.
There's a slim chance of Jenny ever meeting Destruction, but they are more similar than you may think. Jenny, like him, is a prodigal who left her post, whose life always seems to fall apart, who struggles with a whirlwind of emotions that she can barely comprehend. And while he's off in a secluded land, finding new ways to channel creation rather than the purpose he was made for, she's rebuilding her life, as crazy as it may be.
And, well... we all know who the Night Nurse works for.

Arcana of Gossip Girl Сharacters
Fiverr TikTok
"Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite."

Have you ever wondered which Arcana your favorite Gossip Girl characters embody? I decided to dive into this idea and created the following list. So, let’s explore their Matrix of Destiny charts and uncover the energies that define them!💌
👑Blair Waldorf – Arcana 3 (The Empress)
Blair Waldorf is the perfect embodiment of The Empress, symbolizing power, ambition, and the ability to create and nurture her empire. She thrives in high society, commanding attention and respect through her elegance and strategic mind. Blair's need for control extends not only to her own life but also to those around her. She is a natural leader, shaping relationships, friendships, and even rivalries to fit her vision. Like The Empress, Blair is deeply tied to themes of creation—whether it’s her own success, romantic endeavors, or managing her social circle. Her ultimate challenge lies in balancing her need for dominance with her softer, more vulnerable side.
🕊Serena van der Woodsen – Arcana 2 (The High Priestess)
Serena is a living mystery, embodying the harmonious yet enigmatic energy of The High Priestess. Her magnetic charm and natural beauty draw everyone in, making her the center of attention without even trying. However, her life is often marked by moments of indecision, where her intuition clashes with external influences. The High Priestess represents deep wisdom and hidden knowledge, which mirrors Serena’s ability to see beyond the surface and connect with people on a profound level. Yet, her struggle lies in fully embracing her intuitive power while navigating a world filled with distractions and societal expectations.
🎱Chuck Bass – Arcana 15 (The Devil)
Chuck Bass exudes the raw, magnetic energy of The Devil, symbolizing temptation, material power, and deep inner struggles. His life is intertwined with themes of wealth, passion, and the darker sides of human nature. Chuck often finds himself caught between indulging in his desires and seeking redemption, making his journey one of self-discovery and restraint. His charisma is both alluring and dangerous, capable of drawing people into his world of intrigue. At his core, Chuck’s challenge is to break free from the chains of his past and his vices, learning to use his intensity for personal growth and meaningful connections.
✒️Dan Humphrey – Arcana 9 (The Hermit)
Dan is a classic example of The Hermit, someone who seeks truth, understanding, and self-reflection. While he appears as an outsider in the glamorous world of the Upper East Side, Dan’s introspective nature allows him to observe and analyze this world with clarity. He often isolates himself, preferring his own thoughts and creativity to the superficial drama around him. The Hermit’s light shines brightest when illuminating hidden truths, and Dan embodies this as a writer who exposes secrets and reveals deeper layers of those he interacts with. His journey is one of finding authenticity, both in himself and in the relationships he builds.
💫Nate Archibald – Arcana 6 (The Lovers)
Nate represents the duality and choices embodied by The Lovers. He is constantly caught between following his heart and meeting the expectations placed upon him by his family and society. Nate’s charm and easygoing nature make him a romantic figure, yet his internal struggle often leaves him feeling lost. The Lovers card reflects his journey of learning to make decisions that honor both his responsibilities and his personal desires. Nate’s greatest lesson is discovering how to integrate these parts of himself to create a life of balance and fulfillment.
✂️Jenny Humphrey – Arcana 16 (The Tower)
Jenny’s journey is one of upheaval, rebellion, and transformation, perfectly mirroring the energy of The Tower. Her rise in the social hierarchy is marked by moments of destruction, where she must break away from her roots and old beliefs to carve out her own identity. Jenny’s ambition often leads her into chaotic situations, forcing her to confront the consequences of her actions. The Tower symbolizes her struggle to tear down the structures that no longer serve her, allowing her to rebuild and redefine herself. Ultimately, her journey is one of self-discovery and empowerment.
💎Lily van der Woodsen – Arcana 4 (The Emperor)
Lily embodies the stability, structure, and authority of The Emperor. As the matriarch of her family, she takes charge of creating a solid foundation for her children, even when it means making difficult decisions. Her life is guided by a desire for control and order, often clashing with the chaotic lives of those around her. The Emperor symbolizes her strength and resilience as she navigates personal struggles while maintaining her family’s image and legacy. Lily’s challenge lies in balancing her authoritative nature with emotional openness, ensuring her leadership is both firm and compassionate.
🎸Rufus Humphrey – Arcana 14 (Temperance)
Rufus’s energy is defined by balance, patience, and harmony, reflecting the essence of Temperance. As a father and former musician, he bridges the gap between his creative past and his practical present. Rufus often acts as the grounding force in his family, mediating conflicts and offering wisdom. He seeks to integrate different aspects of his life, finding equilibrium between his dreams and responsibilities. His journey is one of compromise and acceptance, proving that true strength comes from understanding and adapting to life’s complexities.
🎥Vanessa Abrams – Arcana 11 (Strength)
Vanessa’s resilience and courage align with the themes of Strength. She faces numerous challenges, often standing firm in her beliefs despite opposition. Vanessa’s inner strength comes from her ability to remain true to herself and her values, even when it isolates her from others. Like Strength, she uses compassion and determination to overcome obstacles, embodying the idea that true power comes from within. Her journey is one of perseverance, as she continuously fights for her place in a world that doesn’t always understand her.
🪩Georgina Sparks – Arcana 18 (The Moon)
Georgina thrives in the shadows, embodying the mystery and illusion of The Moon. Her manipulative nature and unpredictable actions make her a wild card in any situation. The Moon’s energy reflects her ability to create confusion and intrigue, often leading others astray. Yet, beneath her deceptive exterior lies a depth of emotion and complexity. Georgina’s journey is one of navigating her own illusions and uncovering the truths she hides even from herself. She is a reminder of the power and danger of the unknown.
So, which character's Arcana resonates with you? And do you agree with these interpretations? Let me know your thoughts!

If I had a nickel for every beloved sci-fi franchise in which real historical figure Sherlock Holmes is revealed to secretly be two lesbians in a trench coat, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s wild that it happened twice.

Researching The Crimson Horror and had a moment of realisation. In the whoniverse, the Sherlock Holmes books are based on Vastra and Jenny's adventures. In the marvel universe they are based on Raven and Irene's adventures.
Either way they're based on a sapphic couple and I love that.

So Jenny from Thebes is about how fate is both knowable and also inescapable and, upon realizing this fact, Jenny decides she will spend the rest of her life in direct opposition to her fate, even when ever oracle and prophet tells her otherwise. I'm not the only one with this take away right?

Jenny was not a smoker. Why would she take up such a bad habit?! She’s a good girl.
Then Jenny discovered how much she loved being hypnotised. She went down the rabbit hole on tumblr, finding so many nice videos to trance to. She started dressing in skimpy clothing and edging constantly, lowering her inhibitions so much, in a constant state of neediness.
Then the message dropped into her DMs. “Watch this - it’s going to break your mind.” How could she resist? She loves having her mind broken.
The clip started as many do, getting her into a state of utter, blissful, suggestibility. Then it started sprinkling in little tidbits here and there:
“It feels good to smoke cigarettes”
“You want nicotine to be your master”
“Your destiny is to be a smoker”
She turned off the clip and thought nothing of it, until she found herself in a shop later that day buying cigarettes. “What the fuck am I doing?” She thought, but she decided to go through with it.
When she got home she watched the clip again, but this time she lit up. Instant bliss. She got a constant stream of new clips to her DMs that worked her all the way into a full blown habit.
Jenny, or Bambi as she’s now called, is such an addicted smoker that it’s unbelievable. But she always has one thought running through her head: “good girls smoke”. She wants to be a good girl, so she smokes.

trick or treat!
This is a Kendra headcanon that I like a lot but that I'm not sure will ever make it into anything I'm writing.
So: Kendra occupies a pretty strange place in the wider setting of Buffy. She's the first Slayer other than Buffy we meet, but the show itself is pretty aggressively uninterested in her. After the two parter she's introduced in, she's not mentioned again until Becoming, when she comes back to be killed off. She'll only be mentioned a couple of times after her death. Years and years after the show ended, Joss Whedon retroactively gave her full name as "Kendra Young", even though Kendra herself tells Giles that "[she] has no last name".
And the little scraps of backstory we do get about Kendra don't really feel consistent with anything we learn about how Slayers and Potentials operate, either. Kendra was identified as a potential Slayer when she was very small, and her parents (apparently willingly) gave her up to be raised by her Watcher, a Mr Sam Zabuto. She's very, very rules-focused, and familiar not just with the Slayer handbook but with more general details of the supernatural (for example: she's read about Angel before, which Giles himself hadn't, and she can cite sources about the Order of Taraka that Giles seems not to have read).
Meanwhile, the Council didn't know anything about Buffy or Faith until they were both Called, as far as we can tell, and even Potentials like Season 7's Kennedy who were identified at a young age don't seem to have been treated much like Kendra. Kennedy was trained to use weapons, but she doesn't seem to have separated from her parents (at least not based on how she talks about her childhood to Willow) or expected to memorize the contents of multi-volume arcane texts that even a Watcher like Giles describes as being "a bit stodgy" (in fact she tells Willow that magic "seems like fairy tale crap", so her theoretical knowledge must be pretty limited). Something is strange about Kendra. She's not like the other Slayers.
Kendra herself tells Buffy that "[her] people" take Slaying very seriously and that she sent to live with her Watcher at such a young age that she "doesn't really remember" her parents. And ... okay, well, let's be honest: this is mostly just bad writing. It can be explained by a combination of the show trying to position Kendra as, at all levels, an opposite to Buffy [Buffy lives with her mom so Kendra doesn't; Buffy's parents don't know she's a Slayer so Kendra's do; Buffy dislikes studying so Kendra must excel at it; Buffy has friends and dates so Kendra can't, etc.] and not caring particularly if the results add up to anything consistent. And it can, more damningly, be explained by the Buffy writers' regular automatic assumption that non-white people living outside the USA are necessarily more "primitive" and more in touch with old, pre-modern traditions, that they are less interested in the happiness of the individual and more respectful of authority and in doing what is best for the collective. That Kendra's people are like the Incans who sacrified the girl who we only know as "Ampata" (not her real name, of course), or the Shadow Men who activated the First Slayer, or Jenny Calendar's Uncle Enyos (who explicitly contrasts the beliefs of his "tribe" to those of "the modern man").
But what if things were different? What if this wasn't just another example of the show's constant background racism?
As it happens, as early as Season 1 we were already introduced to a group of people who take Slaying very seriously and who pass knowledge of the supernatural and the occult down to their children. People who think of themselves as having "destinies" and who make "tiresome speeches about responsibility and sacrifice". What if this group is, unbeknowst to her, the people Kendra is refering to when she tells Buffy about "[her] people"? What if Kendra's parents were Watchers?
We know that the Council don't always identify Potential Slayers at a young age, but they did manage to identify Kendra, at a young enough age that being a Potential is practically all the life she knows. What could explain that better than if Kendra herself grew up surrounded by Watchers? As soon as they decided to start looking for nearby Potentials, they'd have found one practically under their feet.
What if Kendra's parents had been expecting to train her as a Watcher, but now found themselves having to face the fact she might be Called as a Slayer? What if that's why her training focused so much on reading books and studying theory; why it made her into somebody Buffy describes as a "she-Giles"? What if her parents were hoping that she would grow up never being Called, until she was old enough that she never would, and she could become the Watcher they were always hoping she would be?
Well, we might ask: why then does Kendra claim not to remember her parents? And why does she tell Giles she doesn't have a last name?
This is, in fact, something of a mystery in any case: if Kendra's parents knew she was a Potential and were happy for her to be raised by Watchers -- even if they weren't Watchers themselves -- why was it necessary for them to cut off all ties with her? Why did she have to be raised in isolation? It can't have been for secrecy, because these people would have known that Kendra was a Potential Slayer. Again, this isn't something we see the Council insist on for any other Potential Slayer. Was there some ulterior reason that Kendra couldn't be allowed to know who her parents were, or to talk to people who might have known them?
Well, remember what Quentin Travers accuses Giles of having in Helpless: "a father's love for the child ... and that is useless to the cause". How might somebody like Travers reacted to finding out that a Watcher had potentially given birth to a Slayer? Would he trust them to raise her? Would he allow it?
What if, instead of cheerfully giving her up, Kendra's Watcher parents -- or perhaps parent, singular -- had to agree to raise her as if she wasn't theirs, just to prevent the Council from swooping in and taking her away? What if the reason Kendra thinks she hasn't got a last name is that, if she'd remembered what it was, she'd have noticed it was the same as somebody else she knew? What if, while Buffy had a Watcher she often thought of as a father even though they weren't biologically related, and who was punished for being too much of a father figure, Kendra had a Watcher who was related to her, but who was under Council orders not to tell her that he was?
What if "Kendra Young" was born "Kendra Zabuto"?

I'm not sure how to articulate it, but I am obsessed w Giles/Willow and Buffy/Jenny being direct mirrors of each other and yet they all refuse to accept it. Giles wishes he could see himself in Buffy, bc yk that's his kid. But in actuality the two of them aren't all that similar, (aside from being gay for their arch nemesis). Buffy, as the kid forced into a destiny she doesn't want, is so much more like Jenny Calendar, which Lord knows is a fact Buffy is very uncomfortable with.
And then there's Willow wanting to see herself in her favourite teacher (Jenny Calendar) but actually being pretty much a direct mirror to Giles. To Ripper. While Giles is so adamant they are nothing alike, so there is no need to monitor what Willow is getting up to in regard to magic. Until the moment she drags her best friend back from heaven and tries to end the world and Giles is forced to acknowledge that Willow is the true successor to his legacy. (Gay and maybe sometimes evil)
(This makes Buffy and Willow a direct parallel to Jenny and Giles. Which could mean nothing.)
#willow rosenberg#buffy summers#rupert giles#jenny calendar#btvs#Buffy and Jenny as parallels is one of my favourite things but I can't do it justice if I try to explain myself#but there are so many good analyses on it#summersberg#i keep saying i don't ship it and yet here i am
