Jen, glaring at the group as she hands over bail money:

Alice, tapping her shoulder: What about Teen?

Jen, glaring more: I’ve got to bail him out too? Where’s Agatha?

Teen: No one called her. We used Lilia’s phone call to call Alice and Rio’s to call you. Then Rio used my phone call to vote for American Idol.

Rio: :)

Jen: Rio isn’t answering her phone.

Agatha: Here, I’ll try.

Jen: Alice and I have tried six times each, what makes you think that-

Rio, picking up on the first ring: Hey, sweetheart.

Lilia, smiling proudly at her: Yes.

Alice, who has been completely panicking: Wait, what? Why?!

Agatha, awkwardly glancing around for help: Er…Alice, I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know what to say to people who are crying. So I’m just gonna hope that the tone of my voice makes you think I do, okay, sweetie?

Alice, sniffling: …thanks, Agatha.

Agatha, patting her on the back with a bit too much enthusiasm: No problem, kid.

Lilia: I told Agatha about it weeks ago!

Teen: She WHAT?

Agatha: What??? Lilia says insane shit all the time, how was I supposed to know this one was true?!

Lilia: Bank accounts are a sham created by the shadow government!

Agatha: SEE?!

There were two police officers that baker acted me years ago and they were so rude. One told me he went to school with Jennifer Lopez in the Bronx and both of the cops were screaming at me to stop crying that I need help. They took me to the mental hospital and they said they were friendly cops. I didn’t think so, I had scars on my arm and they handcuffed me to the mental hospital and other cops didn’t do that to me but them. I hope I never see them ever again because god damn they really pissed me off. The way they were talking was aggressive like they wanted to fight me.

i. Jonathan cherished the nights like this. Staying in together after a wonderful meal served by Max. After dinner drinks. Sharing the piano bench. Laughing quietly and flirting.

It was a calm domesticity that made Jonathan’s insides warm. Not with lust (or, at least, not entirely with lust) but from knowing he was loved and he loved his family in return. Jennifer was leaned against him, her hair brushing his shoulder, her sigh whispering through him and causing a gentle shiver. He wanted nothing more than to prolong the sweet bubble of contentment.

He wanted nothing more than to hold her. 

ii. Jennifer adored nights like this, and the calm was even more welcome after a rough couple of days. She didn’t know how they got involved in these things with such alarming regularity, but she was starting to get used to it.

Come to think of it, she could probably get used to anything so long as Jonathan was there by her side. 

She melted when he took her in his arms to lead her in dance, succumbing as easily as always to the masculine strength of his embrace. 

He leaned in for a deep, sweet kiss. 

What a lucky girl.
