"Cracker Island" by Gorillaz (deluxe vinyl box set); a solid album and I liked the art prints and the stickers

"My Brutal Life" (vinyl deluxe version) + "Music For Moore Street Substation" (CD deluxe version) + "My Brutal Life" movie by The Black Dog; I’ll consider all three of these be together as one overarching release. Good music and I liked the prints and the books. The movie ties it all into to powerful effect (great work Martin and Scott!). I wish I could have gone to a performance in Sheffield.

In addition to the primary quest of picking up stuff for my remastering mixes project, I had a brief side-quest to acquire the rest of the Badorb.com releases, feels good to complete that 21 year old quest.

Sami Nouri is humble, determined, and successful. From Afghanistan to the Fashion Week, this 26-year-old refugee is now nicknamed "the little prince of fashion".

Abandoned at the age of 14 by a smuggler in the city of Tours, the young Sami Nouri has lived from home to home, from family to family but does not keep bad memories of his childhood. On the contrary, the latter will be forever grateful for the benevolent help he has always received.

Sami Nouri will never forget how much fashion has been of great help in his many struggles. For this purpose, he has only one idea in mind: to make women masters of their dignity. A momentum that is not about to stop

« Patience is a tree whose root is bitter and whose fruits are very sweet. ». Sami Nouri has long been inspired by this Persian proverb since he was born on March 31, 1996, in Afghanistan. Among the many dangers he went through as a child, the young prodigy aims to take his vision and creations beyond borders. As the latter puts it, (which is the perfect illustration): "it is not because we do not have money that we can not succeed in life! ".

The examples are numerous: his book published by Robert Laffont entitled La machine à coudre retracing his history, the planned release in 2023 or 2024 of the film of his life whose script is co-written (Franco-American production) or his contribution during the exhibition on François Boucher (painter of Louis XV and favorite of Madame de Pompadour) at the Museum of Fine Arts in Tours, scheduled for early November.

Sami Nouri knows that he will not succeed in changing a country such as Afghanistan, but he intends to put women at the heart of his messages and to restore her greatness and freedom.

histórias afro-atlânticas apresenta uma seleção de 450 trabalhos de 214 artistas, do século 16 ao 21, em torno dos “fluxos e refluxos” entre a áfrica, as américas, o caribe, e também a europa. a exposição parte do desejo e da necessidade de traçar paralelos, fricções e diálogos entre as culturas visuais dos territórios afro-atlânticos—suas vivências, criações, cultos e filosofias. é importante levar em conta a noção plural e polifônica de “histórias”; esse termo que em português (diferentemente do inglês) abrange tanto a ficção como a não ficção, as narrativas pessoais, políticas, econômicas, culturais e mitológicas. essas histórias possuem uma qualidade processual, aberta e especulativa, em oposição ao caráter mais monolítico e definitivo das narrativas tradicionais. nesse sentido, a exposição não se propõe a esgotar um assunto tão extenso e complexo, mas antes a incitar novos debates e questionamentos, para que as histórias afro-atlânticas sejam reconsideradas, revistas e reescritas.

Even if it was an old game, its aesthetics and the world it shows are fantastic. It gave me a feeling of being in a pretty complex world for what it shows, too bad it's not such a well known title.

I liked how I drew them, I feel that I did capture the essence of Lester and Buddy.

Another World - The Making Of (Interview with Eric Chahi)

If you’re old enough, you would probably have come across this amazing game by Eric Chahi back in 1991.

Eric was a loner but genius kid, and very slowly and painstakingly created Another World in his younger years. Fast forward, he became a successful game designer and Another World continues to be a success today with its mobile phone version available both on App Store and Google Play.

Games are a form of art. Like art, there are good ones, and really awful ones. It needs to be studied, and if it captures your interest to make them, you make them.

This interview with Eric and his friend Jean-François Freitas, gives an insight to the development of Another World, which is pretty inspiring if you had always wondered how games are made, and if you are thinking of making your own.

Por Lucas Rizzi SÃO PAULO, 01 FEV (ANSA) – Ainda sob o efeito da “Brexit” e da chegada de Donald Trump à Casa Branca, o mundo terá um movimentado calendário eleitoral em 2017, com pleitos que podem abalar ainda mais os já frágeis pilares da estabilidade global.   

Países importantes dos cinco continentes irão às urnas neste ano, com destaque para a Europa. Até outubro, pelo menos quatro Estados-membros da União Europeia escolherão novos líderes, sendo que em todos eles deve se confirmar a tendência de crescimento das forças eurocéticas.   

A maior parte das atenções estará voltada para a França, país fundador da UE e cujo debate eleitoral é dominado por um tom populista que reveste seus principais candidatos. Da direita à esquerda, a disputa é concentrada em torno da ultranacionalista Marine Le Pen (Frente Nacional), do ex-premier conservador François Fillon (Os Republicanos), do ex-ministro de Economia Emmanuel Macron (Em movimento!), do ex-ministro da Educação Benoît Hamon (Partido Socialista) e do eurodeputado Jean-Luc Mélenchon (França Insubmissa).   

Enquanto os dois primeiros disputam o eleitorado conservador e os dois últimos dividem o campo da esquerda, o do meio tenta se colocar como uma terceira via liberal e centrista. Líder nas pesquisas para o primeiro turno, marcado para 23 de abril, Le Pen forçou seus adversários a flertarem com o populismo, enquanto tenta emplacar sua plataforma anti-euro e anti-imigração em um país desencantado pela crise econômica e assustado por recorrentes atentados terroristas.   

Hamon, por exemplo, propõe a criação de uma renda básica de cidadania para todos os franceses, e Macron já foi chamado de “Beppe Grillo vestido de Giorgio Armani”, em comparação ao líder antissistema italiano que diz não ser “nem de esquerda, nem de direita”.   

“A França é o país que organiza a própria UE e é quem mais tem possibilidade de se radicalizar por causa dos atentados, do grande fluxo de comunidades islâmicas. Há na França um crescimento do sentimento eurocético”, diz Marcus Vinicius de Freitas, professor visitante da Blavatnik School of Government, da Universidade de Oxford, no Reino Unido.   

Outro país fundador da UE a ir às urnas em 2017 será a Holanda, onde o Partido para a Liberdade, do líder de extrema-direita e eurocético Geert Wilders, aparece na frente nas pesquisas para as eleições de 15 de março.   

Embora pequena, a Holanda tem um grande peso simbólico, já que ajudou a levantar o bloco e sediou a assinatura do acordo que o criou oficialmente, o Tratado de Maastricht, firmado em fevereiro de 1992. “Houve uma transformação na Holanda, que era historicamente um país pró-Europa. O surgimento de um partido tão virulentamente anti-europeu, ao menos na retórica, representa uma mudança profunda”, explica o professor Kai Lehmann, do Instituto de Relações Internacionais da Universidade de São Paulo (IRI-USP).   

Para o especialista, o caso holandês é semelhante ao da Itália, que sempre foi europeísta e hoje vê a ascensão do eurocético Movimento 5 Estrelas (M5S), liderado por Beppe Grillo. O partido defende a realização de um plebiscito para tirar o país do euro e entrará como forte candidato à vitória caso o presidente Sergio Mattarella decida antecipar as eleições para 2017.   

Alemanha – Também cercada pelo sentimento de descrença em relação a Bruxelas, a chanceler da Alemanha, Angela Merkel, tentará, no mês de setembro, conquistar seu quarto mandato consecutivo.   

Pragmática, a nação mais rica da UE deve reconduzir Merkel, líder da conservadora União Democrata-Cristã (CDU), ao governo, em uma grande coalizão com o Partido Social Democrata (SPD), mas as pesquisas apontam uma queda vertiginosa das duas siglas em relação a quatro anos atrás.   

Em 2013, a chanceler foi reeleita com 41,5% dos votos, enquanto o SPD obteve 25,7%, porém o cenário atual revela as duas legendas com 32% e 21% da preferência, respectivamente. O responsável por roubar esses votos é o partido de extrema-direita Alternativa para a Alemanha (AfD), de Frauke Petry, que deve despontar como a terceira força do Parlamento.   

“Merkel é a grande favorita, mas seria uma enorme surpresa se repetisse o resultado de quatro anos atrás. A CDU não sofre ameaça de não ser o maior partido, mas, obviamente, se perder 10 pontos em relação a 2013, Merkel entrará enfraquecida como chanceler”, ressalta Lehmann. (Segue)
