Aggressive mimicry

Jayce x Silco

A form of mimicry in which a predator (the mimic) closely resembles another organism (the model) that is attractive to a third organism (the dupe) on which the mimic preys.

Jayce/Silco is such an underrated dynamic imo

Both as a ship or just as platonic character interaction. Like. If you think about it, they have such potential:

a) They already met in canon (and what a meeting it was).

b) Their character traits are so complementary. Silco is a mistrustful, cunning, slippery bastard. Jayce is naive and honest to a fault.

Silco will ruminate forever on how people wronged him. Jayce is probably one of the most loving and forgiving people in all of Arcane. (Like, the dude canonically powered of love his way out of the literal apocalypse. Jayce Talis, the man that you are.)

Jayce wears his emotions on his sleeve. Silco invented a whole Rebirth Narrative™ to avoid them.

Silco can't trust anyone. Jayce literally can't help but trust everyone. (He doesn't even haggle.)

Jayce is nice and kind to people for no other reason than it being a good thing to do. This notion alone would be enough to make Silco's brain go Error 404: Page Not Found.

They're both smart. They're both idealistic. They both want to do good to Zaun (albeit in very misguided - and on Jayce's side, ignorant - ways). Jayce has Vander's big warm golden retriever energy, without the association to an inherent threat of violence Vander holds for Silco.

There's so. much. potential. They make such a pair.

sorry I'm back to thinking about jayce and silco. I want to chew on them like a dog with a bone. I think a universe where the peace treaty stood and silco did become a councilor would be so fucking interesting. jayce hates his fucking guts but he's one of the only councilor's who actually does try to work with silco, for the benefit of zaun. and silco thinks it's incredibly fun to lean into it, to rile jayce up more. it's all a game to silco, but jayce can't see that through his anger. his emotion leads him and feeds into the loop where they fight and argue and talk in circles around each other forever.

59. No Way Out, Silco and Jayce

(No Way Out is a MTG card! What a coincidence!)

The closet was small and dusty. Jayce had hardly fit inside it, his shoulders a whisper wider than the width of the space. He wished he could be anywhere else right about now, but the enforcers were still scouting the area. Their shouts were muffled through the door and their filtration masks. Stomping around, looking for anyone suspicious.

Jayce couldn't be found in the undercity. Especially not with the man who was crammed in here with him, his bad eye a burning ember in the darkness. If looks could kill...

"Stop moving," Silco hissed between crooked teeth.

"I'm not," Jayce shot back.

He focused his gaze above Silco's right ear. The zaunite was about his height, but he was a sloucher, and knew how to make himself small. Not that it was much help here. Each breath pressed their chests together, the air hot and cloying. Silco reeked of tobacco and cheap pomade. Not that Jayce smelled much better.

"I'm warning you—" Silco said.

"I can't just stop breathing."

"It would certainly solve one of my problems."

They met like this sometimes. Well. Not in closets. But in the undercity. After years of being a councilor, all that red tape had taken its toll. Making illicit deals was one of the best ways to work; Mel was right about that. It minimized bureaucracy. A few secret meetings, some slicked palms, a stolen shipment here and there that the enforcers didn't look into too closely. Boom. Undercity connections and resources at his beck and call. It made his life easier... except when it didn't. Now it just made him jerk into the slighter man as a nearby enforcer yelled next to the closet door, spooking him.

Silco hissed again. A damn cat of a man. Or a snake. Jayce slapped his hand over Silco's mouth to silence him. The enforcer outside shouted to someone nearby. The door handle creaked, beginning to turn—then it stopped. Heavy footfalls clambered away. There was silence for a long time, nothing except the blood in his ears.

Jayce held his breath for as long as he could. When he finally exhaled, he giggled, an anxious response. Safe. For now. His gaze slid down, then he froze again.

He had shoved Silco hard against the back of the closet. Their fronts were flush: shoulder to shoulder, stomach to stomach, thigh to thigh. Silco's breath was dragonsfire hot against his palm. They stared at each other, the only source of light the glow of that fiery eye. Terrifying, but maybe also—

Teeth sunk into the meat of his hand, and Jayce yowled, reeling back. He hit the door, and it battered open. He fell to the cold, moldy tile, holding his injured hand until the worst of the pain passed.

"What the hell was that for?" Jayce yelled, inspecting the ugly teeth marks that pulsed in time to his heartbeat.

Silco stepped over him and walked away without looking back.

"Prick," Jayce murmured under his breath.

i dreamt about Silco x Jayce?? i dont even fw it LMAO in that dream, Silco was living in an abandoned mall by himself and sometimes goes fishing in the nearby sea that also has sharks that look like him😭

Then cut to the part where he enters the bedroom in long white robes, sunset rays filtered by the curtains, and a topless Jayce was there. Jayce was telling him how weird he was for living in an abandoned mall and they laughed about it, then Silco grabbed his chin and gently kissed him on the lips. Jayce was stunned for a minute, then followed Silco as he dragged him to bed.
