In retrospect it’s kinda funny how Mel spent the whole of season 1 unintentionally driving Jayce mad with power by convincing the Council to go along with all of his dumb ideas, like making magic from science, deposing the president, and selling half the city to a drug kingpin. Like this man seriously thought that Viktor not immediately agreeing to his “we have to end Hextech because it’s bad” speech was a sign of possession rather than him being far less persuasive than he thinks he is.

My headcanons on Arcane characters if they studied at school

Caitlyn:

- she is in the 10th grade

- excellent student, never cheats on exams

- performs all additional tasks to get the respect of teachers and be a good student

- she's good at sports, but doesn't like physical education lessons

- when she doesn't understand something, she asks Jayce for help and he explains everything very clearly

- lets only friends copy her homeworks/tests

- is always neat, wears blouses and jackets

- doesn't like to show off, but everyone knows how rich her family is

- doesn't have much friends, basically only Jayce and Vi, but also has good relationship with Mel

- helped Jayce to get together with Mel

- signed up for all school clubs and extras

Vi:

- she is in the 10th grade

- physical education is her favorite subject

- is really good at cheating on exams

- didn't leave the school only because she doesn't want to part with her friends and gf

- sometimes she skips lessons, but does it well not to have problems with teachers

- she is not stupid and is able to understand some difficult subjects, such as physics, but considers it useless and prefers to do something more "practical"

- considers most classmates very stupid and doesn't take them seriously

Jayce:

- he is in 11th grade

- he's an excellent student, but he doesn't do anything "extra", even for a good grade

- he constantly argues with teachers, and usually turns out to be right, but they don't always admit it. So he doesn't have good relationship with all of the teachers

- He loves physical education, and loves playing volleyball with Vi

- goes to the same gym with Vi and always competes with her

- allows everyone to copy gis tests and homeworks

- is friendly and sociable, many people like him, but considers only Victor, Caitlyn, Vi and Mel as friends.

- usually sits with Viktor or Mel

- he and Mel are considered to be the "popular couple"

- he was in love with Mel since 5th grade, but they started dating only at 10th one

Jinx :

- she is in the 7th grade

- she often disrupts lessons, but the teachers are afraid to kick her out, and Vi tries to cover her up

- she constantly argues with the teachers, but not to prove she's right, but just because she can

- likes spending time with younger students like Isha

- once when she was studying at the 6th grade she called the fire alarm and everyone still remembers her for it

- skips a lot of the lessons, but still knows everything because she prefers to study by herself

Silco:

- a headmaster who is intentionally trying to make the students' lives worse and is convinced that this is the point of his job

- actually, he's the only reason why Jinx still hasn't been kicked out

- spends the entire school budget on expensive coffee

- he knows that everyone hates him and it doesn't bother him at all

- He only leaves his office on holidays, so only few people know what he looks like.

- he almost never listens to the complaints and opinions of the students, so the teachers don't send anyone to the headmaster except for Jinx

Viktor:

- he is in 11th grade

- he is very capable, but to be an excellent student, he has to work really hard.

- mutually dislikes Mel and doesn't know why (mainly because he believes that Mel has a bad influence on Jayce, but in fact he just wants a bigger friend group, even tho he's actually fine being friends with Jayce and Sky only)

- he refuses to cheat on exams because he wants to prove his abilities to himself

- Found it out that Sky was in love with him only after the graduation

- when he already knows the lesson good enough, he just spends it reading books or doing homework

- usually sits with Jayce, but sometimes with Sky too

- is agree with Jayce in most of his arguments with the teachers, but thinks it's stupid to conflict with them and doesn't like being involved

- Heimerdinger is the "father figure" teacher for him, with whom he spends a lot of time. Singed is also an important teacher to him, but not as close as Heimerdinger

Mel:

- she is in 11th grade

- is a member of the school council

- she tries to study diligently, but is an excellent student mostly due to her excellent reputation

- her favorite subject is history

- she doesn't tell others that Ambessa is her mother and only Caitlyn and Jayce know it

- she is considered to be the most beautiful girl in school

- the favorite of most of the teachers and gets along well with literally everyone in school

- always offres the best ideas in the school council, but because of Silco it is rarely possible to implement them.

- made the first step towards Jayce

- unofficially belongs to the company of "cool kids", but actually isn't really interested in them

- studies well to prove her abilities to Ambessa

- usually sits with Elora or Jayce

Sevika:

- Head teacher

- doesn't like kids very much

- nevertheless, she helps the school council to make the school at least a bit better

- allows herself to be openly rude to Silco, because she knows that she will not be replaced

- she always keeps cognac at school, but doesn't get drunk, she just drinks a little to reduce stress

- leaves work earlier than she supposes too and doesn't what Silco tells her

Ekko:

- he is in the 7th grade

- "the clown of the class", which is why some teachers dislike him

- he is able to express his dissatisfaction when it's needed, but does not argue much with teachers not to get in troublea

- he likes Jinx and Silko doesn't like it.

- is a skater

- has a company out of 7th grade students

- sometimes helps Jinx to make a fuss, but only a bit

Heimerdinger:

- physics & math teacher

- at least half of his lessons are about his life stories and morals

- explains his subject as clearly and easily as possible, so every student understands it

- Victor and Jayce are his favorite students and he sees great potential in them

- the students often make fun of him and don't take him seriously, but he's not aware of it

- nevertheless, the students love him, even Jayce, despite the fact that he constantly argues with him

- he often brings different sweets to the students

- every his lesson turns into a nightmare when Jayce or Jinx visit it. But without them his lessons are as calm and comfortable as possible.

Vander:

- he is a physical education teacher

- there are rumors that he was a school principal once

- all the children adore him, he gives them advices and supports them.

- organizes card games and board games in his office, so it's always fun there

- he communicates with Sevika well, but she doesn't like him

- lets the whole school eat from his refrigerator

- He openly calls Silco a terrible headmaster and constantly talks about it

Mylo:

- he is in the 9th grade

- he's not very smart, but thinks he is and acts as if he is, however he isn't stupid

- is good at joking

- helps Jinx forge documents since Vi refuses to

- secretly thinks Jayce is cool

- is always late at school

- likes to listen life stories of Heimerdinger and Benzo, spends most of his time in Vander's office

- tells everyone that he will leave the school, but he won't

- stopped teasing Jinx the moment Silco became a headmaster

Isha:

- she is in the 4th grade

- spends the free time with Jinx

- she studies at an average level: neither bad nor good

- plays Brawl stars

- she wears a backpack with a lot of pins, most of which were given by Jinx

- the only child whom Sevika loves, but it practically does not show up in any way.

- she really loves school

Claggor:

- he is in the 9th grade

- ia very good at physics

- is always with Mylo

- has a fairly large social circle, is friends with 7th graders

- not a genius, but is a pretty capable student

- never had a conflict with anyone and never got into trouble.

- skips classes only for really good reasons

Ambessa:

- the history teacher

- she's trying to get Mel to study harder, and it's working

- she is extremely strict, everyone is either afraid of her or hates her, and she loves this

- she constantly tells students that they will achieve nothing

- the only teacher Jayce is unable to argue and even Jinx is afraid of disrupting her lessons

Cassandra:

- represents the parent committee

- in the class chat she constantly complains about Silco, but it doesn't bring results.

- sent Caitlyn to a regular school so that she could learn to communicate with regular people and study diligently

- she gets along well with Jayce's mom well and they often discuss their children together

Grayson:

- Engliah teacher

- the is friends with Vander and Benzo, they often drink together on weekends

- the most fair teacher who does not treat anyone with prejudice

- She's probably the only teacher Jayce doesn't try to argue with, because she only tells the bare facts, doesn't impose her opinion, and doesn't state what she doesn't know for sure

- finds a unique approach to each student and students love her for this

- she likes to philosophy, but not during the lessons

Benzo:

- he is a shop teacher

- conducts the most chill lessons

- most of the time he hangs out with Vander

- his favorite student is Ekko

- tells students life stories and gossips among the teachers

- he knows about Ekko likes Jinx and is teases him for it every possible way

Singed:

- he is a cemistry and biology teacher

- is pretty creepy, everyone is afraid of him, including teachers and Silco

- his daughter is homeschooled, so no one has seen her, but everyone knows she exists

- there are rumors that he is doing something illegal in his free time, but no one wants to look for evidence

- he is always glad to answer all the students' questions, even the strange ones and really likes to communicate

Marcus:

- the school guard

- his daughter studies at elementary school.

- he is biased against students and only lets out those he considers good (Caitlyn and Mel) when they need to leave the school during the lessons, but he won't let Jayce out even when he has official reasons for it

- is really strict, at least tries to be

- but it's actually easy to have good relationship with him

- sucking up to Silko and Grace in every possible way

- he considers himself a very fair and excellent security guard

GOD you don't understand how badly I need Viktor Ekko and Jinx (or Powder depending on the timeline) meeting as adults or the younger two growing up knowing Viktor as a friend/older brother figure.

Like. Usuyghahakaka. Powder and Ekko growing up still being friends and doing all kinds of inventive things from the Undercity, and hearing about Viktor and Jayce's dream. Hearing about Viktor who was from the Undercity and climbed his way to be a co creator of tech that has changed the very nature of how the world works. Going to innovators competitions with their own things, even as young teens, one that as he gets closer to cracking hextech (or after doing so) Viktor finds himself still going to them, to watch, to see what scientists from both sides of the city.

Viktor who meets these two young scientists, about the age he was when he entered the Academy, with a new system. Something so beautifully simple but by God would it be so helpful. And he realizes while he and Jayce are trying so hard to do great things in the Undercity and world, these two young people are focused on doing the simple good anywhere they can, making life simpler for the people around them.

Powder and Ekko who are so ecstatic that this man who they've idolized for years is completely speechless over what they've created. They don't understand why, it's so simple! He can't find the words the explain at that moment, he's only just realized, but stays around the competition longer than he often does. He offers to take them for a meal. They talk about their own inventions, he talks about hextech. They each have very interesting and valuable insight on each other's projects, they can't believe they've gone thing long without ever meeting each other. And they were so close, weren't they? After all, Ekko sent them to Jayce's, Powder actually had a few of the old versions of the hex crystals - she just never used them after the explosion. It was too dangerous, she thought, and there was really no reason to. Why make weapons when they could fix things?

Of course Viktor wants to continue work on hextech. While not technically his life's work, he has been working on it for nearly a decade now. Of course he wants to follow it through to something great, how could he not! But at the same time, what happened to simply doing good? Just think what these two could do if they had the resources he'd been lucky enough find!

Or, Ekko and Powder who grew up with Viktor as someone who already knew how to build, inventors, create. He saw Powder's attempt at weapons and, while he didn't necessarily think it was a good idea, saw her tinkering as a good thing. She wasn't a fighter, anyway. It was self defense.

Viktor who stayed more tethered to the Undercity after finding a way to Piltover. Vi who was angry at him for leaving. She didn't know him, not really, but how could he abandon his people? Vi who didn't want him around Powder anymore, for fear he'd changed, but Vander who thought different, and changed her mind. Warily, at that. Viktor who found soon after the explosion at Jayce's apartment that it had been the kids, but kept his mouth shut. He carefully explained the dangers of the crystals, and quietly disposed of them. When Silco captures Vander, everything goes the way it would have without the explosion.

Viktor who comes down to visit them - especially Powder and Ekko - regularly. He would talk about what they were finding, what they couldn't understand. As the two got older, they, too, had so many ideas to share. They soon constantly anticipated the visits, and Jayce was always curious how Viktor always returned from his long "walks" with such fresh ideas. The original stabilization of hextech into gemstones is much, much faster. Viktor who never goes to Singed for shimmer because he doesn't need to, he has Powder and Ekko to consult.

Viktor who is even more angry over the hard hit at the bridge. He isn't just Piltovian anymore, (he never really was, as much as he would deny it) Zaunite is half of who he is. By taking him away from it, Jayce is taking half of who he his. Half of his people, half of his ideas. He's separating the two cities in a way Viktor hadn't experienced before. He'd been allowed wherever he wanted. Viktor who also realizes it hasn't been like that for anyone else who considered themselves from the Undercity. He was the lucky one, he was the one who many people thought of first as the Piltovian inventor.

Powder and Ekko who get the credit for hextech they deserve. The creation of hextech massively helping unite the city.

Aauuagshhajaja just. I need them to meet man. I have so many more. Viktor meeting Jinx during season 1, Ekko coming to Viktor about the corruption of his tree, Viktor coming to newer friends in the Undercity over the anger and grief over his health - the only people who share his struggles with terminal illness and disability, Viktor and Jinx lamenting over the men who loved them bringing them painfully back from the dead and forcing them to live on. Just. God I have so much.

I know in original LoL lore Jayce and Viktor were never on great terms and I feel like the show wrote a closer backstory for them and then went oh shit but they gotta fight later and so now Jayce is possessed by the spirit of League of Legends canon. Please do not get in my notes explaining how League of Legends isn't even League of Legends canon anymore. That post is getting so many notes rn that notification blocker keeps breaking and I keep seeing people um actually-ing me.

How many times can these sisters have their parents get killed in front of them. When is enough enough. I mean I assume he's sticking around in some capacity bc the werewolf guy is a playable character but his time with fragmentary memories is probably over.

Jayce was a fun loving chubby kid. He just gives me that vibe and I love him for it. (he still a bitch to me)

Mel has a white bonnet with gold accents. Allora questioned why she wears it too sleep and after some explaining from Mel, she gifts them to her with different colors and types too

It’s an odd headcanon but I really think that another hobby of Vi’s is drawing. Nothing serious just her doodling whenever she doesn’t really wanna work out.

Mylo was silver toothed kid. He was a sweet little boy but he was also really sneaky.

Claggor and Mylo are really well known in the Undercity , not because they’re Vanders Kids, but because Mylo always gets himself into shit and Claggor is right behind him defending him or trying to get him out of it.

Same with Ekko and Powder but they never get caught. As in people know they did it but never have enough proof because they’re just too quick.

Caitlyn was one of those kids that had all the really cool and updated school supplies.

In a Modern AU, I really feel like Jayce would be a streamer.

Oh, if you’d be willing to write a piece of Jayce and Viktor raising Jinx, I’d love to see it! There’s no pressure though, I just wanted to rant a bit about people letting their personal biases block their understanding of the story. Like I said in my tags, I feel like most people don’t hate Jayce because of anything he did, they’re just jealous that both Viktor and Mel care about him. Jayce isn’t perfect but the fact that I keep seeing people say there was no reason for Jayce to attempt to jump but dramatics tells me they are only reading him on a surface level. Thanks again for your hard work!

Of course! Honestly Jayce went through a fucking Lot of the course of the series and I think he deserves more credit for that. So here is my bit of Jayce positive content.

CW: mentions of injury, an explosion. I think this takes place in an AU where within a year of Jinx being with Silco, there was an accidental explosion. She thinks he's dead. if I ever write more of this... he probably isn't. _____ It’s raining.

That’s not something Jayce minds, particularly, but he feels the need to catalogue everything that led up to the current moment. He was going to the midpoint of the bridge to look at the way the clouds hang over the water, because it’s a really stunning view and also maybe because the lab work has been going so fantastically badly that he needs to be reminded that the rest of the world exists and it had started raining on the way walking to nowhere. Maybe. Probably not that, though.

Viktor had already taken a break– he would probably be back by the time Jayce got back, he had gone to pick up lunch– and being in the lab sitting in a silence that was slowly but surely getting louder was its own flavor of hell.

So that was the complete record of the last thirty minutes. He traced his route in his memory, planned it out, noted the time like he noted the timing of discoveries in his notebook in case they would become historical record– arrogance– Viktor always teased him, but some of the pages had become historical record so who was right, anyway– off track. He notes the time, because something important is happening, because there is a little girl with blue hair curled up against the stone wall of the bridge.

Jayce has enough time to freeze and to think before she looks up at him, and that’s when he realizes none of the timing or the structure matters at all, because she has little cuts on her cheeks, and she’s bleeding, and she curls back into herself like she’s scared of him, so he does the only thing he can think to do, and he kneels to her eye level.

“Hey.” he says, quietly. “Are you okay?”

She sniffles. “–no.” She admits, quietly, and something in Jayce’s chest twists.

“Can I help?” he asks.

She eyes him, suspicious. “Why would you wanna help?”

“–That’s my job.” He says. “I help people. I’m a scientist.”

“Scientists don’t help people.” She contradicts him, but she’s eyeing him, a little more curious than guarded, now, and Jayce will take that as a win.

“We’re supposed to.” he explains. “Discoveries are supposed to be made for the good of everyone. It’s important. Progress for– everyone. But I’m not really worried about everyone right now, i’m just worried about you. Are you hurt?”

She sniffles, and he realizes that it’s not just the rain that’s making the water-lines down her cheeks. Her eyes and her nose are red.

“Yeah.” She admits. “A little. I couldn’t run any further.”

“That’s okay,” Jayce says, “I’ll carry you.”

She hesitates only a second longer, and then she reaches out her arms.

Viktor has had just long enough to start worrying about Jayce before he hears the door open. He turns around, a half composed scolding about not leaving notes on his lips, and then he stops, because Jayce is carrying a child.

He cycles through several possible respondes, considers and discards the ones with swear words, and then he looks at the girl’s clothing, realizes it’s zaunite, and puts those right back into circulation, because she’s certainly heard worse, and this is clearly a situation that calls for profanity. Evidently he thinks too long, though, because as he’s opening his mouth Jayce gives him a soft, guilty smile, one the ones where he knows he did wrong and is genuinely sorry for it, and that wouldn’t do, either.

“You both need to dry off or you’re going to catch your deaths.” he says, going over to the corner of the room where they keep the winter blankets and the massive space heater Jayce always uses to try to forget the season when it gets rough. “Sit down on the couch.”

Jayce complies, and the little blue-haired girl peeks her head up over his shoulder to squint at Viktor.

Viktor squints right back, and that seems to be the correct response, because she nods, once, and sets her head down against Jayce’s shoulder.

And the sight of that shouldn’t do such miserable things to Viktor’s poor heart, but frankly it’s hard enough to tolerate jayce being... Jayce. On a regular basis. Without Jayce carrying in children.

“Can you grab the medkid?” Jayce asks, voice a little stressed, and Viktor grimaces.

“How bad is it?”

“I’m fine.” the girl says, sounding a touch sulky, and too-loud. Viktor recognizes the bitterness of someone who doesn’t like to be spoken over. It’s plenty familiar.

“What hurts?” he asks her, as he comes over and pulls the coffee table up to the edge of the touch and sits down on top of it, not caring about the papers he’s doubtless ruining.

“My face, my hands, and my knees.” She says.

“Can I see your hands?” Viktor asks, patient, and she untangles from Jayce and offers them. They’re snarled over in burns, and Viktor sees Jayce’s expression twist in his peripheral vision, but he doesn’t flinch.

“Ah, we’re used to burns.” He says, opening the kit, “these don’t look to be as nasty as they could be, you were very lucky.”

“I was trying to be careful.” She mumbles.

“And then what happened?”

“–everything exploded.” She curls up a little. “...I don’t know if he–”

“He?” Jayce echoes. “Your father?”

She shuts up, and Viktor shakes his head a little.

“It doesn’t matter.” he says. “You’re safe here. We’ll get you warm and we’ll get you somewhere to rest and then we can take care of the rest. You don’t have to be afraid anymore. What’s your name?”

She eyes him. “–Jinx.”

“Jinx.” he repeats, and glances up at Jayce. Jayce is looking back at him, his expression saying the same thing Viktor is thinking. We can’t leave her alone.

He glances down, noting the way she’s already curled into Jayce’s chest, and feels something oddly peaceful settling in him. It’s very unlike him to be... confident. That things will work out. Strange.

“We have you.” he says. “Let me finish bandaging your hands, and then we can see about your knees, dry clothes, rest.”

They would figure it out.

There was one post that explained and elaborated really well on why they'd make a good pair and it was good! But Belos hates witches. Regardless of how much they may have a good connection with him. But now, if we ignore that part.. Honestly I really have a hard time imagining Belos in any romance? Also Ironically despite being an actual White cracker™ who probably comes from the age that sees homosexuality as a mental illness, I cannot see him liking women lmao. Take this lightheartedly please. But in more seriousness, to me, Belos as a character truly shines in other relationship dynamics. Familial, authorial, antagonistic and so on. There's much more interesting stuff to be done with him and his personal relationships and I just can't really imagine the kind of person in the show that he'd fall for. Ngl I'd probably be annoyed if they gave him a romance in the show (obv. Depends alot on how it's done but Idk). This isn't me going "Bad guys don't get to have romance u_u" at all, this is just me saying I'm not sure how I'd vibe with shipping culture™ + Belos.

But I must admit, I think unrequited romances would be kinda fascinating for him. Either in the case that someone likes him and he doesn't like him back, or the other way around. Just something.. Complicated, ykno?

Anyway, despite that, I definitely accept this ship into my house 👍

Squirrelcrow 5/10 (I think you meant Squirrelflight? Bc I can't really think of who the other one there would be otherwise. Correct me if I'm wrong ofc). Nah. Don't see the appeal. I get that people make the argument that she and Crow coulda played off each other much nicer and had an interesting relationship, also minus the age gap Squilf has to Bramble, which is Def a plus. But meh. I'm not feeling it at all. I see your argument and I can respect it but I don't care about this ship at all. I really really don't think Crowfeather would be much better of a boyfriend than Brambly. Not as bad probably! But not good enough in my eyes. I think either someone else entirely or just. Let her be single and heal. With her friends and family. Please. I don't feel super strongly about this in the negative way either tbh but I definitely don't care for it at all. I ignore it.

Whitetiger 8/10 yes. Nods. I'm not like Uber invested in this ship but I definitely think it's a good one, especially considering what other ships Tigerclaw has in the Fandom.. *side eyes them in mild discomfort*. Anyway. I'm not sure if I have much to comment? I think it's cool how people noticed these two as an item bc before being introduced to the ship I wasn't aware they basically grew up together?? That's dope! I love their sort of. Relationship development I guess? At least as much as the fans have expanded upon it

Jayce x Vic vs Jayce x Mel - okay so. I think I've touched upon this briefly when I mentioned my aro(spec) hcs, and Mel was on it. I don't wanna say I dislike Mel and Jayce's relationship but it's really bland fr. It's painfully obvious how this is just "Man like woman, obviously!". Like Idk if it was just me but right up until they boned i was 90% convinced she'd turn out to be a twist villain or stab him in the back or just, like have some. Suspicious things going on. Her interest and interactions with Jayce were not romantic at all imo, if anything I'd probably have to say it just seemed like pure lust. Which, good for them I guess, that's valid too. But you get what I mean?? There were no sparks. They sure had A dynamic, but not a romantically coded one. To me at least.

With that said I'm not gonna protest the fact that they're together, even though I'm just facepalming at it. I'll just let it exist since clearly that's how they wanna tell this story and apparently one gay couple is their maximum quota for this show (looks at Vi and Cait). However, Jayce and Viktor have an infinitely more interesting dynamic and a much more genuine feeling relationship. They actually seem to have a connection and care for each other as people, to an extent I don't see with Mel. To me it felt like she was more interested in Jayce for his inventions. I honestly do with it woulda been Jayce and Viktor, and not just bc "Gay uwu" but genuinely bc it would be very engaging to explore their relationship develop. Ofc, relationships don't need to be romantic to be engaging. But just, with Jayce being a poster boy of the upper class and Viktor rising up from the dumps, it would create interesting conflict for them! Explore that please! It was so cool seeing them work together bc they play off of each other so well! And they were given actual bonding moments!!!!

I'll just say. They both exist to me, in my heart. The way I see it, Jayce and Mel are queerplatonic and Viktor has Feelings™ for Jayce, who is probably a little suppressed about his own feelings for him. Ofc it does clearly seem that he cares for Mel as well. I don't feel annoyed enough to gloss over that. But to me this is how it works and I'll be fine if they explore Viktor and Jayce's relationship in a meaningful way later on.

Also I'm not hating on Mel btw. Tbh I kinda wish she'd turned out to be a bit more devious, that woulda been interesting to me. I feel like she was only allowed to be interesting towards the end of the season (before that she was honestly just "Hot,,, lady👀👀support Jayce inventions??? She is mysterious and graceful,, in a hot way")

OK... Stella couldn’t be angry anymore. “You too, huh?”

“Yeah.” The rabbit, who had since been dubbed Coco, was looking down at her hands, an expression of regret etched across her entire face. “Toxic mom, constantly making me feel like I’m useless, shit like that. Kinda nice to know I’m not the only one in that boat...”

“Yeah, helps to know you’re not alone.” Stella nodded in agreement. “So... what’s your story?”

Coco sighed, squeezing her eyes shut in painful remembrance. “So... for context, I’m a senior, so... I’m twenty-three, cuz I had to repeat a year of school, right?” She was seriously considering her words - which, Stella didn’t blame her, because remembering anything about her own shitty mother was a nightmare. “Back in high school, when I was, like, fifteen, I fucked up, and I got pregnant... the father ditched me, haven’t seen or heard from him since--”

“You’re better off, dude, trust me.”

“Yeah, I agree, but...” Coco sighed again, clenching her fists. “Point is, my initial plan was to move into a shelter for single moms, but my own mom talked me into staying ‘to get ready for single mom life’, so she said.” She swallowed. “What I didn’t know was that she was planning something...”

“They always are.”

“Yeah. So... when I had my daughter, I found out my mom had been going around making arrangements...” Another, shakier sigh. “She’d told the relevant people that I wasn’t fit to be a mom, because I was a teenager and too immature, and a druggie - I was sixteen at this time, and all I wanted was to just be a good mom to my daughter...” She swallowed hard, taking a few deep breaths. “She... she managed to get legal custody of my daughter, and she kicked me out and disowned me, said I wasn’t ever welcome back, and if I came near her and her baby, she’d call the cops...”

Coco broke off at this point, fighting the urge to cry. Stella, meanwhile, looked down, her own fists clenched. Her anger was redirected towards Coco’s mother now - that sounded exactly like the kind of thing her own mother would do should she find out about her child. Now she understood why she’d called the cops on Jayce...

And, sure enough, Coco nodded. “T-that’s why I reported Jayce, because I didn’t want any other kid to be manipulated like my own daughter’s been - I-I didn’t know what was going on, b-but then the cops told me what happened, and I-I knew I fucked up again, a-and I had to come clean, I-- I couldn’t just keep quiet--”

“Hey, hey, hey, slow down. Take a breath.” Stella recognised an incoming panic attack when she saw one, and she knew she had to help keep her calm. “So... what’s your daughter’s name?”

Coco swallowed, sniffling. “... Mintie. She's seven this year. Earlier this month, actually. I guess that’s kind of why, as well... I was feeling kinda sore about it...”

“Oh, I can get that...” Stella nodded. She understood making impulsive decisions because of her emotions. “So you have no contact with her at all? No phone calls, visits, nothing?”

“No.” Coco shook her head sadly. “Mom cut me off after I got kicked out - changed her number, moved away, all the ghosting techniques. The only way I can keep track of Mintie is by stalking Mom’s social media... I don’t know what she could’ve been telling her, but I know she’s probably accepted my mom as her mom, and won’t listen if told otherwise...”

“Man...” It was Stella’s turn to sigh. “My brother-in-law, Jayce’s boyfriend - he can totally relate to you. The kid my brother rescued was taken from him by Eggman when she was born... she was manipulated into believing he was her dad, too. If he forgives you, he’d totally be willing to talk to you about it...”

“Yeah, if he forgives me. I got his boyfriend wrongfully arrested...” Coco looked worried. “How’s he taking it?”

Ohh, boy. Stella swallowed, not sure how to say it. “He... he’s been hospitalised because of the stress of it.”

Coco’s expression morphed into horror. “Oh, no... oh, fuck, what have I done?! He’s got kids on the way, too, hasn’t he?! What if he loses them?! Oh no, oh no no no no no, I fucked up again...” And there was the panic attack restarting again. “I-I’m so sorry, I’m such a fuckup - I-I ruined your lives, I-I’m so sorry--!”

“Hey, breathe. Focus, OK?” Stella grabbed her shoulders, doing her best to calm her down. “Focus on me, alright? It’s gonna be OK, we’re all a bunch of fighters, alright? They’re gonna be OK.”

Coco swallowed, trying to breathe. “W... when he gets out... d’you think I could... talk to him? To apologise, a-and explain? A-and can you be there? Please?” She sighed, her hands shaking. “I-I’m so sorry... I know everyone makes your lives hell, and I just added to that--”

“Yeah, but now you have the context, and you regret what you did and wanna make up for it. That says a lot about you.” Stella rubbed her arm comfortingly. “Of course I’ll be there. Maybe we can talk about how all of us can move on from this. Tell you what--” She squeezed her shoulder. “I’ll talk to my brother-in-law’s siblings, see if they’d be willing to talk to you. And then if they agree, you can talk to him when he gets out. And once my brother is feeling better, I’ll see if he’s willing to talk as well. Prison wasn’t nice to him...”

“... yeah, I can imagine. Chaos, I feel so bad...” Coco wiped her eyes. “... thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. Us kids of evil moms have to stick together.”
