It’s weird. I typically have a pretty high tolerance for long arcs where a villain wins and wins and then wins some more. Typically it doesn’t hurt my enjoyment of the story at all, and up until this point in my wildbow reading it hasn’t. But with March specifically, I just feel like I’m at the part of Jason Aaron’s Thor run where he wouldn’t stop pushing fucking. Malekith as a serious threat for several dozen issues and a summer event. I don’t need a detailed account of how he takes over all the nine realms and defeats Asguard at each instance, I know it’s gonna end with him being defeated in an accelerated and unceremonious way and then we’re never gonna acknowledge any of this shit again.

This isn’t even a Ward issue, it’s a March issue. I didn’t feel this way about Goddess. I don’t feel this way about Cradle despite him taking up way more page time and being part of the same plot. I should like March on paper. I don’t know what’s happening here. Is it cause she keeps getting page time in interludes instead of tying into the main chapters? Am I simply a poseur who does not actually like evil women?

Imagine if a Justice League writer started a plot-point/revelation that John Constantine was Billy Batson's "real father", and acting as if this was going to be a thing forever, in the main Justice League book.

Except said writer (let's call him Bob) did not coordinate with the current Captain Marvel (Rick) or Hellblazer (Steve) writers. Rick and Steve only learning about this "revelation" when the issue came out publicly.

Bob largely continues this plot point as an ongoing plot-point in JL, ignoring Rick and Steve's objections, while Rick and Steve specifically contradict the Bob Plot in their own books.

Bob leaves the JL book a while later, and undoes the revelation before leaving, vindicating Rick and Steve.

....

This is essentially the "Phoenix is Thor's real mom" plot-point in Aaron's Avengers.
