Pain.

Pain was all he felt anymore.

Pain was all he felt when he looked around his apartments crowded with all your things.

The sight of your clothes in the closet made him want to cry, the sight of your cat the two of you got when you first got together made him want to scream.

Dick was in a tough situation, everything reminded him of you..in his mind, getting rid of everything to do with you would make him forget what happened.

After all it had only been 1 week since your funeral, 2 weeks since your death, 3 weeks since your 5 year anniversary. What truly had happened between the two of you before your death was a mystery to all.

Everyone was worried, he stood at the back of the room during your visitation, far enough so he couldn’t see your face. It’s almost like if he saw your face he knows he would’ve gotten a stern talking to..or started crying.

Guilt was eating him alive, there was nothing more he wanted than to be in your arms in this moment. But because of his decisions, he could no longer do that.

The sun shined brightly against the window, the sound of birds chirping filled the room. Good morning Orange County you thought to yourself as you pulled the warm covers off your body, and slipped on your bedroom slippers.

You were staying with your cousin Marissa for the summer, and today officially marked the first day of summer. Excited didn’t even attempt to describe how you felt, you were almost shaking with excitement.

It wasn’t often you got to see Marissa, living in Maine that was, so you took every opportunity possible to see them. “Good morning!” Your uncle exclaimed excitedly as you walked into the kitchen.

“Morning.” You said, rubbing the sleep out of your eye. You grabbed a cup of coffee and walked outside to get the mail, the sound of your slippers slapped against the cobras you walked.

You hummed as you tiptoed, the sound of your slippers made you want to scream. Just as you turned the corner, you slammed into something hard.

Your coffee went flying, and you flew to the ground. “Oh my, I’m so sorry! I-I-“ the guy you had just ran into stuttered.

“It’s fine, will you help me up?” You asked, slightly embarrassed as you stared at the cute guy in front of you. He held out his hand which you gladly took and he helped you onto your feet.

“I’ve never seen you before.” He said, quickly raising an eyebrow. “I’m Marissa’s cousin, I’m here for the summer.” You said with a smile, “Well I’m Seth I live next door.” He said with a smile smirk, looking you up and down. “I should uh get back inside..” you said as you pulled your hand away from Seth’s realizing you’d been holding his hand for quite a while.

The moment you got inside, heat crept onto your pale cheeks. You knew this was gonna be a good summer.

A/n: I’m on an angst kick lately.. I adore dick and this is most likely not something he’d do but it’s fine! Enjoy 😛

The team arrived at mount justice, your chest filling with guilt, insecurity, and so much more. Upon arrival the first thing you saw, was your mother.

“Y/n..” she trialed, “I’m disappointed.” she spoke again before walking off, leaving you with your thoughts. The rest of the team joined you, Artemis putting a reassuring hand on your shoulder. She’d been in your position before, she knew exactly how you felt.

“We’re disappointed to say the least.” Bruce began, “You had one job, and you failed miserably at it.” he continued, looking dead into your eyes. “We gave you a chance to prove yourself as a leader, and you proved our suspicions correct. Y/n..as much as I want to believe in you, I physically can’t. You had one job, complete the mission. Instead your team spent the whole time arguing about your orders.” Canary huffed.

God, if only she wasn’t my mother. You thought to yourself.

“I’m sorry I was busy covering your sidekicks ass. If he didn’t question my judgement so often then we wouldn’t even be in this situation!” You grunted as you glared at Bruce, “Oh now it’s my fault? If I remember correctly, you were the one who told us to split up! I said, “why not go in pairs” but no! We always have to listen to the princesses orders, otherwise shit hits the fan!” Dick retorted at your statement.

“Princess?” Wally cackled, “shut up speedy.” You growled, “I’m a “princess” now because I actually want to get things done?” You mocked at Dick.

“No you’re a princess because you expect everyone to wait on you hand and foot! News flash, I’m not doing it. Kaldur might do it, Conner might do it, Artemis, M’gann, Zatanna, and everyone else might, but not me! I’m not sure how you grew up, and I don’t quite care because things are different now! You need to grow up and stop expecting everyone to just listen to you!” Dick growled at you before walking off.

“No you don’t get to walk away!” You yelled, eyes glowing a dark shade of purple. “Y/n calm down.” Your mother said as she stood in front of you, attempting to sooth you.

You moved around your mother and took off towards the direction Dick had left in. He made your blood boil, him and his stupid blue eyes.

Trailing behind him, you notice he walked into his room. Which was conveniently placed right next yours, you decided to give up before you attacked him.

Moving the decorative pillows, you laid down on your queen bed. You hated him, you hated his gorgeous blue eyes, you hated the way he looked at you, you hated the way he would put his hand on the small of your back while you were standing on anything somewhat unstable, you hated him because he was so perfect.

You cried into the pillow next to you, why was he acting like this? It made you feel worthless. Were you really as bad as he said you were?

Your mind raced, what if he was right? What if you were a princess, spoiled and stubborn, only listening to yourself and no one else. Tears streamed down your face at the thought of him being right, did that mean that everyone felt the same way?

The next morning was worse. You’d tumbled out of bed, not even bothering to put yourself together like you’d always had. You knew you looked like a wreck, you didn’t care though. The sound of your slippers were heard from the kitchen, “sleeping beauty is awake.” You heard Artemis giggle as you got closer to the kitchen.

The moment you walked in, you smelt it. His cologne, then you saw him, he stood at the island, drink in hand. He looked gorgeous. The moment you saw him you darted back to your room.

“Guess not?” Wally asked, giving Artemis a shrug. Artemis was worried, maybe Dick was too hard on you. “You shouldn’t have said that you know?” She said as she scooped some yogurt into her mouth, “Who?” Dick asked almost as if she was insane.

“Yes, you, jackass. You hurt her feelings, she’s not a princess. She just wanted to prove her mom wrong. You and I both know how it feels to be doubted by everyone around us, and when you get the opportunity to prove them wrong, you take it.” She stated.

Dick started to feel bad, but he couldn’t admit that. He couldn’t be in the wrong. What would Bruce think? Dick finally gave in and marched to your room.

“Y/n..” he said quietly, playing with his thumbs. “Come in.” You said hesitantly, the door slid open, Dick walking in with his tail between his legs.

“Listen..I’m sorry. You’re not a princess, you were right. I just didn’t want Bruce to be disappointed in me.” He spoke with his head down. You stood up and walked towards his large body, you took your head to his face and move his head so he was looking at you.

“Bruce could never be disappointed in you. You’ve come so incredibly far.” You said with a smile, a smile appearing on his face as well. He stared into your eyes, admiring the gleam and warmth they gave to his own.

He slowly moved towards you, putting one hand on your cheek and the other on your waist. You closed the gap between the two of you, wrapping your arms around his neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.

“You’re so pretty.” He said in admiration at you, in between kisses. “I could say the same about you.” You said smirking against his lips.

Pairing: Jason Todd x fem!ex-vigilante!reader

A/n: the people voted so here’s the Jason fic! Unfortunately I don’t know how to write gutting wrenching angst but enjoy!

Rain tapped against the picture window of Jason and your shared apartment. It was 3:30 am and you had been up all night waiting for him to come home from “patrol”

“Patrol my ass.” You muttered as the clock struck 3:30. The door creeped open at 3:35, making your heart jump as you were quite invested in the book you were reading.

“You’re home late.” You spoke softly, trying not to anger the man in front of you. The two of you had been going through a rough patch the past few months, you thought it would rollover..but when it hit 6 months, you started preparing for the worst.

“Yeah patrol took longer than I expected.” He deadpanned, removing his jacket from his broad shoulders, hanging it onto the standing coat hanger, next to your front door.

“Mhm.” You hummed, “what’s that supposed to mean?” He growled lowly. “Well I’ll tell you what it means. You reek of alcohol, your uniform is no where to be seen, and your hair has obviously been combed. You could’ve told me you were going to the bar.” You replied keep your tone steady, not wanting to give into his antics that were to come.

“Stop doing that.” He snarled at you again, “doing what?” You asked innocently. You knew exactly what he meant, you were reading his mind..quite literally.

“Stop using my mind against me!” He snapped, finally sick of your “bullshit” as he would call it. “I have no privacy with you!” He continued, “Oh baby, privacy left the room a while ago. Privacy left when you asked me to marry you. Privacy left when we started sleeping in the same bed. Privacy is nonexistent in this house.” You growled back.

Now you both were just making each other angrier. “Then maybe I shouldn’t have asked you to marry me if you’re just gonna act like this.” He snapped at you again.

Your chest ached, how could he say something like that? At the end of the day, no matter how much the two of you argued, you still loved him. If he was gonna go low, you were going lower.

“Was she at least pretty?” You question, “what?” He asked quietly. “I said, was she at least pretty.” you said repeating yourself, “what are you talking about?” he rolled his eyes with that sentence.

“Jason..I’m not stupid.” you retorted. “Don’t act like that. As if you haven’t cheated on me!” He yelled, “I haven’t! Why would you even say that!” you asked, your voice small and laced with hurt.

Jason knew how to piss you off, and he was doing everything in his power not to scream at you. You knew deep down that it was the alcohol in his system that was making him act like this. You knew deep down he would never treat you like this, no matter how mad he was at you.

Something more significant was making him act like this. However no matter how hard you searched, you couldn’t find what it was. 

You snapped back into reality, staring at him, hurt. Tears brimming your eyes. It took everything in you to not run from your current situation.

Jason’s eyes softened as he stared at you, realizing the damage he’d done. He crept towards your quivering body. “No.” You stated as you watched him creep closer towards you.

“Listen..I’m sorry.” He stated softly, reaching out his arms toward you. You were quick to move away from his grasp. “I’m sorry doesn’t cut it Jason. I’ve had enough of this! Constant arguing! Over stupid things!” You yelled, struggling to get the words out as tears ran down your face.

“I’m sorry. I’ve had a lot on my mind, I know I should’ve told you. I know I should’ve been more open instead of being an asshole and taking my anger out on you.” he spoke gently again, you could see the sincerity in his eyes.

Your heart and body however, couldn’t forgive him. Not tonight at least. “I’m sorry but I can’t forgive you, not tonight at least.” You said as you wiped a tear from your face, walking towards your bedroom.

Jason didn’t dare to follow, you came back out a few minutes later with a pillow, blanket, and a pair of clean clothes for in the morning.
