Just thought about … oh my god. Bakugo’s first real battle with a formidable villain after your kid is born; he’s not exactly “out of shape” (he never quit the gym, routine, etc… just changed it), but he’s thrown down hard in the first couple seconds, and he’s slower to get back into position—taking the time to steady his feet and assess the terrain, pushing out the lil tummy he gained feeding you postpartum delicacies as he cracks his back—
And the villain, god help them, decides to call out to him as they use the few seconds of vulnerability to attack again, screaming, “hey pop pop, don’t tell me parenthood has made you soft! How ‘bout I start calling you ‘daddy,’ too?”
Just as Bakugo’s turning back around with a new fire in his eyes, blood all warmed up, and shooting off to grab them by the throat to end the fight in one single move.

this phrase of "bombing them back to the stone age" is frankly bloothirsty, completely genocidal and appaling and I never heard someone use it unironically outside of a comedy movie general
But then I thought, did I really never heard it before? No, it isn't the first I heard it, it sounded like a very Usamerican stock phrase, so I looked it up...

You know I wish people that disliked Himiko had more to say than "She should have died instead of X" or "she is so one note."
First point isn't a real argument on why a different character deserves to die and the second point a lot of characters you could easily write off as one note?
"Hehe Gonta only like bug" No there is way more to him that.
"Himiko only talks about magic." THERE IS WAY MORE TO HER THAN THAT!!!
Like she's using magic to cope with her trauma. I get it being infuriating in the second trial (I was a bit annoyed at a certain point too) but once you learn to understand how she thinks by trial three... acknowledge that it's part of her characterization you don't like instead of painting her as the worst character ever because of it.
People do this for other characters too but the Himiko hate is like above and beyond fucking annoying.
I am a bit biased because Himiko is one of my favorite characters in anything ever but you know what? Hifumi makes me uncomfortable but if you love him I will defend you to your dying breath. Write that character analysis on why Hifumi is the best actually, I support you 💖

I'm Mao Onigawara of the Ground Defense Force! I'll protect the peace of Japan!
I was privileged to be part of @dotzines pris-M-agic Zine project, and this is my illustration for it! When picking a magical girl, I wanted to represent a series that was influential on me growing up but would be underrepresented in the zine. Despite other options having a more meaningful influence on me now, I knew they'd be (rightfully) more popular. However, Ground Defense Force Mao Chan was the anime that REALLY got 10 year old me into anime (and, down the line, magical girls!). Strange, right? With these two combined factors, it became an obvious decision.
As for the drawing itself, I wanted to highlight the titular character Mao. Despite being mostly pink in design, her representative color in the story is green. It was a fun challenge to balance that out appropriately while also finding a way to convey her role in protecting the land/ground/earth.

陸自防護マスク4
JSDF Type 4 Protective Mask
Me and @bureau-of-mines were in the midst of watching Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters (1968) on Svengoolie with friends and family when out of some miracle, he spotted this thing on eBay mobile and copped it instantly.
These were the standard gas mask of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces from approximately the mid-1980's up until recently. Beginning in 2000, it started getting phased out with the Type 4b Protective Mask (aka the Type 00), and more recently, the Type 18 is now starting to enter service with the JSDF.
The Japanese government is incredibly protective of their CBRN equipment and very few are released to the public; supposedly it's even illegal for Japanese citizens to be in possession of these. How one ended up on U.S. eBay is beyond my comprehension.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the center of the mask is a central inlet/outlet/voicemitter/drinking assembly made of reasonably study plastic and held in place with a metal ear clamp - a small nub sticking out the side would allow a hydration tube to link a canteen to the facepiece.
A downward-facing outlet valve permits moisture drainage and an average-sized voice diaphragm is positioned just up and behind the center NATO 40mm port.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The eyepieces are made of thick glass with brass frames held together by screw clamps. The famous 'sad' appearance of postwar Japanese masks is palpable with this model.
The head harness is of the mesh 'skullcap' variety, and interestingly, despite being 6-point, the top two straps arranged close together so it functions effectively like a wider 5-point strap system.

Inside the mask, there are many details to take note of - here you can see the top straps have two separate positions for the mounting studs for adjustment; the mask seems to have been made in a 'universal' size.
The manufacturer's mark reveals this mask was manufactured by Koken Ltd. around 1996. The inner nosecup is short and squat as is typical for gas masks designed with Asian facial ergonomics in mind. The inner drinking straw can be seen protruding in from side, just in front of the voicemitter.
Above this lies a single nosecup valve disk and at the very bottom is the outlet valve, hidden under the chin rest.

Perhaps the most famous use of these masks followed the 1995 Tokyo Subway Sarin Gas Attack, carried out by members of the Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult. All members of the JSDF decontamination teams were seen wearing the Type 4.
As of writing, this may be the only specimen of these masks in the United states, let alone outside Japan to begin with. We've literally never seen one of these in a collector's hands up until now.

LiDAR reveals vast ancient Maya city and complex networks hidden in Mexico's Campeche forest
Tumblr media
- By Nuadox Crew -
Archaeologists have uncovered thousands of ancient Maya structures and a large city named Valeriana in Campeche, Mexico, using aerial LiDAR technology to penetrate dense forest cover.
The discovery, which spans around 47 square miles, includes urban and rural settlements with reservoirs, temples, and roads, resembling other major Maya cities.
Previously overlooked due to its inaccessibility, Campeche is now recognized as a vital part of the Maya Lowlands, revealing complex urban planning and extensive connectivity among Maya cities.
The findings challenge the view of Maya cities as isolated entities, instead suggesting a vast, interconnected network.
Experts consider LiDAR a transformative tool, reshaping understanding of ancient Maya civilization and its environmental adaptation, organization, and conservation needs.

Has anyone here ever seen Whisper of the Heart? It's a pretty good film, though admittedly has a weird focus on Take Me Home, Country Roads, but anyway, to those who aren't familiar, a subplot in it features an old man who runs an antique shop and a figurine he has of a cat in a suit named the Baron (the Baron also appears in the movie The Cat Returns which is absolutely excellent, I cannot suggest it highly enough, the English dub features the guy from Princess Bride and Anne Hathaway!). It's revealed over the course of the movie that the Baron is actually part of a set and there's a Baroness. When he was living in Germany, he and his sweetheart Luisa fell in love with the Baron but the owner refused to sell him without the Baroness, who had been sent away for repairs. Finally, Luisa convinced him to sell the man the Baron and when the Baroness was repaired, she would buy her, and then when he was able to return, both pairs would be reunited. So he leaves for Japan with the Baron, but then World War II breaks out, and he's unable to return until after the war, and when he does, he can't find Luisa and it's heavily implied she died, but we do have a picture of the two figurines in the movie.
Tumblr media
But, since we don't know for sure that Luisa died, just that she was German, I propose that instead she married another German and passed the Baroness on to her daughter, who then gave it to her daughter, and so on until we get to the present day. What evidence do I have for my theory?
