i mean, fat ragh is just... like... canon? like that's just how he looks. he's been drawn like that since the boy's night one-shot and only ever not drawn fat in his introductory art, where he was wearing a big letterman that would hide a belly anyway. i find it kind of silly to say "fat ragh" as though that's an au or a headcanon or anything, since that is, again, just a trait he has in the show we're watching

Traitor (A Warhammer 40k Fan Story)

Traitor is a three part story taking place in the Warhammer Sci Fi universe. This story follows a slightly different history from what we know from the 30,000 millennium with new horrors, new monsters and new traitors. There is no one who can be trusted as of this time. The most vital resource in this period is the truth.

Part 3 (Finale): Shall Blood Be Spilt

The time had come. In the skies above, the void burned with the wrath of war. The recent dust clouds had spread across the skies, turning the clouds of Colchis into a canvas of light and chaos. The White Scars had arrived some time before now but since they had, there was no word of the World Eaters. The communications from the world’s surface to the void was cut off by the dust clouds and enemy jammers. The entire world was in silence to one another. Cities burned in the distance, creating a ring of fire and smoke. Kadal wandered the battlements, across the world there had been drop pods and forces deployed in many of their bases, it was only a matter of time before they too would face down their cousins.  

Kadal saw Word Bearer and Ultramarine stand side by side; no eyes left the sky. The infernal thunder above lighting their armour in a beautiful, yet horrific display. Kadal eventually found his way to Marakos. The two stood inside a quiet bunker tower watching the world burn. “It is quite a sight is it not cousin… I am… sorry for your loss Kadal” Marakos expressed from his stoic helm. Kadal had removed his helm, looking onto his cousin while Marakos continued to look outward. “The Emperor protects Marakos, we bearers of the word know this more than any other. However, … I am having… concerns…” Kadal returned, facing Marakos. The Ultramarine fell silent for a moment and turned to face Kadal, “What concerns you…? cousin?” Kadal looked down, gripping his helm tighter. 

Kadal turned his head to look to the fortress, “When I asked you… about these new KP rounds… you assured me that your own men made better fitters for the ammunition… you assured me that it was no slight… when Drusas spoke to me and was to explain his sights on Caliban you interrupted and whenever Caliban was dared uttered, you and your legion recoil… I never knew the 13th to be the… squeamish type? Or even the caring type…” Kadal expressed with pain painted across his stoic features. Marakos changed his composure and reeled back, “What are you insinuating Kadal? Has our brotherhood proven nothing of my legion’s care? What of every battlefield in which I nearly lost my life for you and you for me too?” Marakos asserted, standing tall. Kadal gripped his battle mace and continued to speak, “I am truly sorry brother, I have questioned far too much this battle… but you must understand, we are in no standard war… we face our own upon our own. Trust is a resource that rapidly depletes as the roars of war grow closer”  

Marakos leaned forward, his helm placed firmly onto his head as his hand found itself upon the shoulder of Kadal. Kadal took his hand from his mace as he stared into the crimson eyes of Marakos. With a sudden flash of light, for a mere moment Kadal felt Marakos jolt, the Ultramarine’s bolt pistol finding itself at Kadal’s chin. Kadal reacted swiftly as his head tilted ever so slightly to the right. The bolt ripped through the side of his face; parts of his skull blown to bits. He grabbed Marakos’ arm, twisting it downwards and headbutting him, the cracking of the skulls shattered what little silence remained. Marakos fell back as Kadal lunged forward, his mace high and bloated with power. Marakos responded with his power sword with the two meeting in a blast of light. This clash signalled the traitors beyond the bunker. The sky fell as the White Scars descended in their drop pods in a rain of fire. 

On the battlements and defences, the Ultramarines opened fire upon the Word Bearers. Word Bearer artillery and defences began to fail as systematic failures plagued the machines. In a fraction of a second, hundreds of loyalists were gunned down. Kadal and Marakos continued their duel until the two suffered a grievous blow as a White Scar drop pod tore apart the front of the bunker. The tower collapsed as the captains came to blows. Every strike erupts in blue and red light. The remaining Word Bearers fled to temples and remaining fortresses while their bolter rounds were pitifully ineffective against the armour of the Ultramarines. 

Kadal and Marakos stood from the rubble, their brothers massacring one another in the dust. “Brother! We need not fight! Join us! Please! I never wanted this! I wanted to warn you! I wanted… to give you the quick death you deserved!” Marakos yelled over the roar of thunderous battle. Kadal lunged forward, “How dare you! You are no brother of mine! No cousin! You renounced that role the day you drew Imperial blood! You permitted me to be a quick death traitor! I shall not grant thee the same!” The two clashed once again, White Scars bikes roared across the rubble with merciless brutality. The Word Bearers cried for aid, but it did not come as the world burned.  

Kadal managed to get a great hit upon the leg of Marakos. The captain of the 13th came to the ground as he looked upon his cousin. Marakos’ helm had shattered, half of his humanity peering through the gaps. Kadal raised his mace, “In the name of the Emperor! In the name of humanity! I am Kadal! Son of Lorgar! Chosen of Him! Eternal warrior of the Imperium! And I am your executioner!” The mace fell, a smile of catharsis came across Marakos’ face as he closed his eyes, this was until Kadal was thrown from his point, spitting blood as he flew into the burning husk of a fallen turret. He could not stand; he could see and breath, but he was paralyzed. He looked weakly to the attacker, the ancient Drusas had saved Marakos and damned Kadal. 

Marakos managed to limp his way to the dying Word Bearer. Fighting back his emotion and tears Marakos raised his shattered power sword, “I am so sorry Kadal… you are my cousin… you may not see me the same, but I will always remember you with honour… I am truly sorry… son of God… In the name of the Emperor… I Marakos of the 13th legion present the loyal, glorious and eternal with the greatest gift I can bestow a loyal son of the Emperor from a traitor… sleep now brother… your service shall live for eternity… my treason will die with me” Kadal looked up at Marakos, no longer holding back the pain as he spat his last bloody attack at the captain, “I-I will never grant a traitor like you what you desire… you disgust me… but m-mostly cousin… you disappoint me… you… sadden me… enjoy your fate… I shall enjoy mine!” Kadal activated his hip grenade and in a fury of flame and a hymn, the Word Bearer erupted into light and wrath. Marakos was too thrown back while Drusas took most of the explosion. 

Marakos came out of his haze, his leg blown off and a shard of Kadal’s mace stuck in his neck. Drusas moved forward his steps shaking the ground, “Captain Marakos. You truly are honourable, but your morals brought you to blood. Your weakness will die with you” The goliath raised his arm and brought it down as Marakos kept his smile, “You were right Kadal, my treason dies with me… I am sorry cousin…” Marakos closed his eyes as the darkness swallowed his fading life. The crushing blow rang out like thunder among a storm. Drusas stood over the ruins, “The captain has fallen, so too has the Word Bearer captain fallen with him. Burn this world, see their people crucified and their temples ruined. Show them the true power of Chaos. Show them the truth to the universe.” Drusas said over his communications as he turned to an advancing Word Bearer squad which he brutally crushed in terrifying swiftness. Colchis would burn and so would the Galaxy under the banner of the Promethean.
