WHY ISNT HARRY CONSIDERED PURE BLOOD??? His mums a witch his dad’s a wizard?? Witch + wizard = pure blood? Yes Lily was muggleborn but she wasn’t a muggle, she was a witch. Halfblood = muggle + witch/wizard, neither lily nor James was a muggle

18. A plot hole that makes me want to tear my hair out

The Secret Keeper magic. Bill and Fleur are their own Secret Keepers. Why couldn't James and Lily have been their own? Obviously the easy explanation is to move the plot forward but it's annoying that the magic of Secret Keepers is so inconsistent.

Another example of this: when Harry, Ron, and Hermione are going back to Grimmauld Place after the Ministry and they bring Yaxley with them.

Does obliviation not work with Secret Keeping? Hermione couldn't have obliviated Yaxley like she did with Dolohov and Rowle (if I recall correctly)?? Couldn't Kreacher have helped with Yaxley too? There had to be potions or other "remedies" that could've kept Yaxley out of the loop. And yeah, okay, I get that the kids needed to be on the ground to have their adventures, but Harry Potter and the Extended Camping Trip did get rather dull at some points.

The easiest explanation with this is JKR wasn't super consistent with her magic system. In some ways, cool, because fic writers like me can toy around with it. In other ways, it's frustrating because it creates all these questions of why things ended up the way they were.

What if the Potters didn't die, Sirius wasn't in Azkaban, Remus had his friends, Peter was in Azkaban, and Harry was living happily with his family and friends, but they needed to fight Voldemort again. Harry and his friends ask the adults who is RAB and his connection to the locket and Voldemort. Finally, they know what happened to Regulus Black. (I think that Lily and James divorced and co-parented Harry and Lily is married to Mary while James still thinks about Regulus and he gets the closure he needs when he destroys the locket.)
