Uncle Deathstroke the Terminator part 2

Slade Wilson was looking at his wife's home computr, using his USB hard drive to access his personal piles he finished his report of his most recent mission before downloading them back to the USB hard drive.

His ex-wife, Adeline kane was allowing him to crash in her house so long as he doesn't do anything mercenary related. Slade Wilson knew he wasn't good with children especially girl children

But seeing as the girl wasn't even His, and he was mostly working to return the girl back to her family Adeline was amendable enough to allow the girl into her home. .

Adeline a former ex military woman did not usually tolerate her ex's mercenary work, especially after what happened to Joey because of his arrogancy. That didn't mean she didn't care for Slade entirely. She just felt that he was a poor father and shouldn't be near her children. After Grant's death she just wouldn't allow him to dictate her life. But this case was different

Hunting for a girl's family purely so that she could be reunited with the family was one of those situations. Where adaline was easily persuaded to her EX's ideas.

It took some persuading on Slade's part but eventually Adeline made the girl some food, got her some used clothes that she could use, and the bare necessities when it came to the female health products.

Products that were very welcomed by the teenager.

apparently she left that bag back with the safe house her mom used. they were lucky she wasn't having a visit by Lady Red this evening. That would have made things worse

Settled into this small little home on the outskirts of San Francisco Slade Wilson said to work on his research for the girl's parents.

Google what's the first line of of research. Having the names alone would be priceless in their efforts cutting off years of searching

"We are going to find your family, then we're going to have to do a bit of research. "

Lian was happy to know that this could all be over so quickly. Although she hated it using it some unknown mercenary, was a lot easier to stomach knowing that she had an easy ticket back home in using this guy's resources.

Let's start with some of the basics, like who are your parent

"I Don't know if you're going to like it"

Adeline encouraged," Come on, just try it wouldn't hurt. who is your mother? It should be easy. Then it'll be all over.

" okay fine, my mother is Jade Nguyen" the girl said clearly, almost like a confession.

" Spelling on the last part." Slade asked absent-mindedly. Having already finished Jade in the search engine,

"N-g-u-y-e-n" Lian almost sang her mother's last name by heart. She had gotten so much closer to her mother's thanks to the curse that prevented her from reuniting with the rest of her family.

Apparently the curse didn't consider her mom family and that was a lifesaver for her. Lian wanted her mother back.

Wanted to see her again, wanted to feel her loving embrace. Just as much as she wanted to see her father and have him be a dorky loving father to a teenager

Lian Harper above All Else wanted her family to be whole. Her father and mother happy, if not in a loving relationship then amicable exes that share custody of her. It was tragic. Her mother experienced so much, much of that she didn't deserve in her early life.

Deathstrokeclicked the name into the search bar and looked at the results.

Good news, the girl's mother was all over the news bad news is the first result was the women's the warrant for her arrest. It was a high price too.

Adeline caught her own breath. That was a lot of money. She could live, the rest of her life without work, send her kids to college and have enormous nesting egg left over with that kind of money.

Deathstroke easily recognized the mask. Outfit everything.

Son of a bitch he knew her.

"Oh fuck" he cursed under his breath, it was her...

Adeline recognized that tone, he knew her she just wanted to know how he knew her.

"Yeah that's why" Lian chuckled to herself.

not everything is great of course, there is some lore regarding that ring, but roy harper is a determined masochist if nothing else and jade has a thing for pathetic men

I genuinely think that by some paradox DC was WAY more inclusive and "woke" in the '90 than now. Like so many POC characters, the firsts queer relationship in comics, many more disabled characters and representation than today. Not all of them were written well, mind you, but at least they were doing something instead of just showing up during Pride moth and then disappearing in limbo forever after a couple of cheesy lines. And we are not talking enough of all the disabilities erasure in the last years.

today i have decided to feel insane about nightwing and cheshire interacting. how she has only met him in professional capacities but because they both love roy, it is very evident to her how much dick and roy care about each other.

in nightwing: old friends, new enemies, she hesitates to use her poison claws on him because she knows that he's only doing this for roy, a man she once loved, the father of her child. and that hesitation costs her. at this point in the story, dick has only just found out her location and he doesn't yet know roy's real motivations for asking dick for help. he's holding back because roy is awol and he doesn't have the full picture, yet.

towards the conclusion of this story, when she has been defeated and is being escorted to captivity, she calls out for him:

just. how can i not be insane about this. she knows what roy means to dick, how much lian means to roy. she has now seen both first-hand and she entrusts dick with this- asking him to take care of her daughter. this is such a big leap of faith, she's injured, has just been tranquilized, is on her way to losing custody of her daughter and probably going to prison for the foreseeable future. and to ask this of dick? heartbreaking but also, of course she can ask this. this is what dick has been doing since he found out why roy asked him on this mission- taking care of roy and by extension, lian.

another instance where i enjoy their dynamic- their shared love of roy is titans (1999) #12:

just look at his fond lil expression when he's talking about roy, arguably to one of the most important people in roy's life. their shared commiseration over roy's big heart and impulsivity.

jade's bleeding out and when she's cheshire, she doesn't usually show weakness. but she feels comfortable enough to be vulnerable enough to ask if she will make it. and how he attempts to soothe her with levity and she meets him there. he might never understand why roy loves her but at the same time, he can understand roy's ever-present affection for her. this is the mother of roy's child. and dick gets that! just look at titans (1999) #21:

just feeling insane about how both jade and dick's immense love for roy is reflected and recognized by the other. it's such a fun nuance to explore and a big contributor to my dickroy propaganda. <3

Slade Wilson wasn't even looking for the girl, he was just on a kill mission but NoOoo...

apparently this little teenage blue haired twerp just TELEPORTED right in front of him after he sliced up another one of his targets.

Crap and now she's crying to.

Lian Harper remembered the Pain, she hated the teleportation, the heartache of being ripped away from her family

oh she fucking hated it it took her years but she hated it. She had finally gotten a chance to hug her father(see Green arrow 2023 #1)

But now she was ripped away again. Fuck.

Not even 10 minutes not even 10 fucking minutes that she could have with her own fucking dad without disappearing to God knows where, with blood and death and it looks like a meat grinder went off and killed everything in its path.

Her life was hell.

She just wanted to be with her family dad Uncle dick Donna! Ollie Wally conner. Anybody

Even mom. Fuck she forgot to tell Mom. Shit she dropped the mask.

She was alone. And Mom couldn't even find her. all because she wanted to hug her father.

It took the girl 10 minutes to finally calm down from crying. But still she knew how to wipe off the blood in less than a minute. That was strange. She even made sure to have none of the blood on her clothing.

"Who are you kid"

Slade wanted to know, no normal teenager would just teleport directly in front of his Carnage without some reason of being here.

"My name is l-Lian. " The girl with blue hair answered, almost unsure that was her own name.

"Well Where the hell did you come from Lian." That ignited something defensive in her it seemed.

"what's it to you? What, are you a cop? "

"So that I could send you back. To wherever the fuck you came from"

"Why the hell would you do that? Are you Fed? Black ops? cop? "

Because I don't want to deal with extra terrestrial bullshit. "

slade Wilson knew that if some random teenager teleported in front of you it's better to deal with their issues and then forget about that entire adventure it was best for his own sanity.

" Ha! Good luck with that." She smiled a bitter smile." I'm cursed"

Cursed kid? Sheesh

Kid I deal with the supernatural and mortal realm, I think you're exaggerating things

He already had dealt with her for 10 fucking minutes of crying, pathetic ugly subs.

he did not want to be in that position again.

It was said on that day, The mercenary's heart grew three sizes that day. Or shrunk six sizes and just wanted to deal with the child and get her out of his hair. Depends on how you look at it.

Lian looked at the man, he was grizzled old and with gray hair, wearing an eye patch.

A grizzled old pirate assassin? Just her fucking luckz, can't get a good education because teleporting can't be with Dad because teleporting, can't be with Grandpa Ollie because he's fucking dead, can't go to Dinah can't go to Connor Lian was fucked and all she has was this damn fucking old assumingly assassin.

Why in all that is holy was she cursed to have such a life of pain and misery what did she do?, At least she could fucking remember what her dad looks like. At least he remembered her name now.

Something's going on with the timelines she did not know but this was her fucking life, and if she has to use some grizzled asshole to get uncursed or find Mom she would use them.

Turning Real tears and fake tears into bargaining power against mercenaries was one of Lian's top skills. Even if that was only against mother.

You give me information on your family names, addresses and stuff like that that I could use to hunt them down and then once we get this whole teleporter situation under wraps then you could be with your family happily ever after..

You'll be safe alive with your family in no time."

Lian was desperate where was she to go, this wasn't Gotham this wasn't any other cities she was used to,

It was some kind of bunker in the middle of nowhere, she already looked around the premises and everything like Mom would have wanted her to. Like Dad would have wanted her to. And there was nothing.

If this will get her home this would be the only chance she has

"I promise I'll do everything in my power to ensure that you return home to your family"

Slade Wilson thought this would be easy.

Jason and Jade met on some mission before Jason went back to Gotham, and they continued to sometimes meet up afterwards as well. Mostly on missions, again, but sometimes Jade would just come up at Jason when he's having breakfast or something and they would chat a little bit.

Perhaps they, in some way, felt like kindred spirits. Both on a mission that they feel like they need to do, even if it's not necessarily all that they want out of life, but they also don't know if they can live another type of life, either.

Anyway a few years in, there's a knock at the front door, and when Roy goes to open it, Jade is standing on the other side, in civilian clothes and with a very expensive pair of sunglasses on her eyes and even more expensive bag slung over her shoulder.

"Hi?" Roy says. "It's not like you to come knocking on my door like this."

"I'm not here for you", Jade says (though it's not unkindly).

Roy completely understands.

"Lian's at Ollie and Dinah's", he says. "I can call them-"

"I know, I will come visit her too", Jade says. "But right now I'm not here for her, either."

"Okay?" Roy is now officially out of the loop, it seems.

"I'm here for business", Jade says, very unhelpfully, and then masterfully steps around Roy and into the house. "Bird Boy!"

Jason makes a sound from the kitchen, and Jade marches in there. Roy follows her, and steps into the kitchen just in time to see Jason hand Jade a cup of tea, and for Jade to pull out something wrapped very tightly in plastic from her bag. It makes a very loud thump as it hits the table, and Roy realises very quickly that this is going to be a very long day.
