Apologies if you were asked this before, but what are any headcanons you have on Smiling Friends crew and/or the world and culture of critters?
My headcanon is that critters are inherently cartoon-y in nature but gradually became more "grounded" in a sense when integrating with humanity and their society.
WELL once I explain youll go "yeah makes sense. Wulf WOULD type that." i prommy. (Its very furry-adjacent)
As much as I like drawing Critters with fluff/fur, I think they're Skin with a light fuzz on some of them (Such as Charlie, Allan or Glep. Ones like Pim and Grim dont get any.) Like a peach. Theres special body wash that makes that fuzz Super Soft and its a whole bodycare industry.
I think teeth are incredibly, INCREDIBLY varied from Critter to Critter. Critters themselves are some weird DNA emalgamation mix from Beings from the Enchanted Forest and People I think. And "beings from the Enchanted Forest" can be like. Anything. (Theres a lot of places similar to the EF. This was like Thousands of years ago.)
I also think Critter genetics are SUPER prone to random mutations. Whatwulf has a beluga melon, no one else in his family did. His genes just Did That. Its not evolution based its more just these things DNA doesnt know what to fucking do. And thats OK
I think maybe they Have tails sometimes but they have the option when they're older to get it removed, and most Do. Bad choice. Id keep one.
I think wether they lay eggs or whatever is genuinely super varied too. I think they can give birth in any way that exists if their dna decided to do that (pour one out for critters with hyena dna in their dna)
Also I know nothing abt Genetics but it is a cartoon so its Fine.
Theres a different name for the Babys depending on like. How they are? More Mammalian born ones can be Homonculi, Pups, Kids, etc. Aquatic Amphibian types tend to just go with Tadpole.
A group of critters is scientifically called a !?!?! (Good luck saying that out loud) so people just call a group Critters.
More or less they are the same as people overall.
I think the 3D Species and like. Shrimp. Are subspecies of Critter. Critter is just anything sentient and humanoidish that isnt a human. Its not a super specific term.
Inner anatomy like organs are All the same as humans. (Aquatic ones May develop a swim bladder or blowhole though, and sometimes they can have cartilige instead of bone. It Depends.)
Insect based critters arent seen often (and are. Often disliked) because while people were fine having kids with like. Hobbits. Aliens. And all manner of Weird Ass Creatures (Including Werewolves and anthros of Many Kinds.) but no one wants to fuck Ogtha the Cockroach :( (Shes waiting for her Prince Charming....that guy from Reddit.) so not many Insect based ones.
THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF RN

can you tell me about your mcsm x (was it McDonald’s or Mys?) au?
Let me tell you i giggled and kicked my feet when i saw this
Ok so basically its not like void paradox where they go to mcsm, its if they lived in the mcsm universe like always and there are no werewolves or mefwa, so aaron and nana and any others that are born like that i might just make them furries because nana wearing a fursuit is cute to me
so no mcd, no travis demon lore (no Michael), no pdh, no forever potions, no any lore like that- i basically just shove the characters in the world and now they were born and raised there- an effect of this is now the ro’meaves are a middle class family (garte is secretly loaded though this is important later)
so basically all of their personalities are the same, just not all of them know each other, like gene and dante (and travis) live in a completely different town then aphmau, garroth gets to know laurance and his brothers but thats about it for him, and aaron and nana probably live in the same town because i think it would be funny
So garroth lives nearby to the endercon venue and has been going since “before it was cool” because he loves conventions, and hears that the guest is gabriel and immediately sweet talks his dad into buying him a ticket to his show for that year and he decides that he can make this a fun family trip and brings zane and vylad (and laurance because i need this please let me have this)
so they get to the convention and do convention stuff like buying things and eating food and dressing up (he probably has a gabriel helmet) and when the time comes him and the gang go into the dome thingy that gabriel is going to be in. Vylad notices a couple people go into the basement but doesnt really think anything of it until they run out like 10 minutes later looking really scared, then he tells garroth he needs to do something wuick and that he’ll be right back. Vylad goes over to the group and asks the one he thinks looks the most confident (petra) what happened while one of them runs back into the basement. She tells him to mind his own business but that everyone in the building is in danger and to try to stay near the door and he thanks her for her advice
vylad goes back to the gang and tells them what petra told him, garroth seems disappointed but agrees so that way they can be about as safe as possible- they watch as the group tries to tell gabriel about the creepy guy in the basement. ivor starts to walk up to the stage and zanes stomach starts to twist as he has a really bad feeling about this, garroth notices and asks him whats up, and vyald takes this as a cue to leave
they all leave, laurance comforting garroth about not being able to ask a question but saying its safer that they leave as they reach the gates about to head home they hear a giant crash and screaming as people start running their way. They’re confused for about 5 seconds until the glass dome above the stage collapses and a giant monster comes out of it.
thats all i have for that part but another part is that the shadow knights go to the sunshine institute because zenix said like 10 different slurs at romeo because he said something slightly rude

I would kill to hear the voice acting directions they gave Pauly Shore that made him sound like this, honestly
Like did they specifically tell him that no sentence in this movie was to be said in a regular way. Did they use the word gay or was that just his interpretation. Like what happened here. Pauly where did we lose you
#'isf jus mee' u3u#it gets worse every time you watch it#and I would know. i watched this movie. unironically. from start to finish#guys. its the whole movie#he sounds like this the whole godamn movie#Pauly Shore did great in the Goofy movies so he clearly knows how to voice act so just. how#what did they tell him to make him do it like this instead#no you dont understand the insanity of this movie Im still processing it and it gets worse every time#the plot makes NO sense whatsoever#everyone is a moron#the characters are ugly#HIS NOSE DOESNT EVEN COME INTO PLAY?? ITS A PINNOCHIO STORY AND THEY DONT MENTION IT ONCE??#also why is her hair so weirdly animated#like... you know how usually you can tell if someone is a furry if they draw weirdly detailed werewolves?#this is like that#weirdly detailed#like someone spent way too much time on it for some reas-#.... are hair fetishes a thing#lemme google smth really quick#ok this scene just got a lot worse#highly recommend watching this so we can laugh at it when Del Toro's version comes out#the best part is listening to him like this and having to believe hes in love with a girl. like. ok#i can buy that a wooden boy came to life#but i cannot buy that hes into women#and that sums up my thoughts on this cursed abomination of a movie#i love it and wish it upon all my enemies

[ID: 7 drawings of monster!mechanisms designs. they are as follows: 1. a colored drawing of ivy alexandria that has been partially passed through the deep dream generator neural network, giving parts of the image a swirling, surreal appearance, often resembling eyes. 2. a digtal sketch of nastya as a ghost. her eyes are obscured by her glasses shine and she is covered in blue wisps, and dripping blue from her mouth and hands. 3. a digital sketch of drumbot brian as a centaur sitting down. his horse half is also mechanical and resembles a clydesdale. he also has horse-ish ears. 4. a sketchy bust of vampire marius. he looks smug, and looks to the side with a fanged smile. 5. digital sketch of partially-transformed werewolf gunpowder tim with doglike ears, claws, and a tail. he says "ok why did getting turned into that somehow give you a pitchfork." with a quizzical expression. 6. digital sketch of jonny d'ville as a devil or demon, with horns, pointy ears, cartoony wings, and a thin tail with a heart-shaped tip. he's holding a hellish pitchfork, looking confused and says "what? i already owned this.” 7. a traditional sketch of harpy/siren raphaella. she holds here feathery winged arms out, while her mechanical bat wings are unfurled behind her. her lower half is that of a bird. end ID]
ok ill post a couuuple. self indulgence machine go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
ok so u know like back in the gravity falls fandom there was that really popular au called monster falls where everybody got turned into some sort of monster/mythological creature? i fucking love that scenario and have been making my own little “everybody gets cursed by a witch or something so now i get to draw these fun designs” aus for like everything i like (never did it w tma oddly enough? good inspo just never struck.) so here.......is..........this. not everybodys pictured here but go under the cut for a list of what everybody is plus some extra notes and stuff
lets just goooooo alphabetical order
ashes - OKAY HONESTLY STILL NOT 100% ON ASHES im THINKING half-dragon. yes i know i already went dragon for them in the furry au its just a good fit and also looks Cool, but also waiting out to see if i can think of anything better
brian - CENTAURRRR also again. yes. i know i went 4 horse for him in the furry au. its just good and has fun brian vibes. wanting to draw centaur brian was the thing that led to this au happening
ivy - ELDRITCH SOMETHIN OR OTHER...idk what youd call that exactly. but you get the gist. cosmic horror, eyes, unfathomable patterns and things. doing the deep dream stuff for her in that picture was very fun and im very happy w how it came out...definitely something to revisit in the future. not sure how i wanna draw her when...not doing a whole colored digital thing, but well cross that bridge when i can draw again
jonny - he’s. he’s a devil? a little demon guy? like. yeah. of course. this guy was fucking meant to have little wings horns and a cute little demon heart tail. he has somehow become MORE bastardly
marius - VAMPIRE MARIUS ONCE AGAIN HES JUST FUN. hes just fun and the aesthetic suits him. i cant wait to draw him in a fun little cape with one of those big dramatic collars you know the ones. vampire marius is of course @ alientoastt’s idea!!
nastya - BANSHEE...or ghost in general but there some banshee stuff i feel could be fun to integrate. apparently in some tellings banshees can turn into crows? i love that very much. but anyways hmm..some notes abt the design in thsi post shes not quite where i want her to be. this was done on that collab canvas the other day and like...was mostly noodling things out having fun, those flamey looking bits are a very nice motion very fun to do but NOT wwhat i want for ghostya. i want her to be more. drippy. very drowned person vibes. fire and upward-floating motif not what i want. but it was fun to draw. also i think theres some potential comedy in there with “person who predicts deaths” among crew who habitually murder each other
raphaella - SOMEWHERE BTWN HARPY & SIREN (the bird kind not the mermaid kind) very excited abt her. lots of fun potential poses here. doing her design was a bit tricky- sirens tend to be just like- big birds with human heads? but i didt wanna do just that that takes away too much of her design recognizbility yknow to Just have her head. so she has a people torso, bird from the waist down, plus her arms are wings. which means she has Two pairs of wings. which i for one think is incredibly fun like you remember in httyd2 valka’s dragon w the four wings? yeah. also avent figured what bird in particular shell be based on- for the ufrry au i went w african grey parrot but dont feel like that here. ill think on it
tim - WEREWOLF TIM DUH. DUH. also i think werewolves are especially funny in scenarios like thse cus like- okay everybody suddenly ahhh cursed ahh monster whatever. but then tims just there like. i mean i feel fine lol and u get to have the fun surprise of Oh Suddenly Werewolf. also the question of how exactly werewolves who change based on the moon function in a. spaceship. i like to think its entirely fucking random i think thats funny
TS - ANIMATED SUIT OF ARMOR!! I DONT HAVE MUCH MORE TO SAY ON THSI BUT I LOVE . THIS IDEA. and i will never draw it. because fuck drawing and designing armor oh my god
anyways i think thats??? all i have to say on this??? agdvjdkb. if you wanna talk about this at all (or if u wanna see more doodles...) im totally open to that. ill be real i get weirdly embarrassed about specifically this kind of au (like. monster stuff in general especially werewolf/vampire stuff i could not fucking tell you why. gotten better abt it over time though hey im actually postin this shit!) so im just happy i posted it afhcgvjdkvdg .
as for story type things like how. this happens. frankly i dont know thats not my forte. but the little bit of whatever ive got going on my head has the Terrific Trio of ivy marius & raphaella doing Research Science Whatever down on a planet somewhere get into contact with a Cursed Artifact or whatever the fuck and eventually get back to the aurora like. oh. uh. it happened to you guys too, huh. but thats like whatever honestly im not in it for the writing im here to draw fun centaur man etc.
if you made it to the bottom of this winding fucking ramble know that i love you. mwah. that was fun to write out i like thought barfing about stuff like maybe 3 people will care about
#art#mechanisms#no tags i dont think djgvdhbkdhbd#1#2#the mechanisms#ok im gong to hit post . ok#scopophobia

𝖂𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖜𝖔𝖑𝖛𝖊𝖘, 𝖜𝖔𝖑𝖛𝖊𝖘
and basic shit you should know before interacting I guess~
*Disclaimer: all the information this post contains will be based on things I’ve learned over the years and my personal modifications are NOT to be taken as the general rule. This is MY abo concept for this bot in particular. Yall are free to agree, disagree, take ideas, adapt to your own bot, etcetcetc. Bye. Also sorry this doesn't have a read more;;;; I tried :(
Hello, this is (not) JYPe,
and welcome to the first episode of “Admin’s abo concept isn’t probably what you think so we gonna go in dept on this shit hehe ”. This was originally going to be a one part documentary but I realized I would probably keep coming up with or remembering stuff and these would be so LOOONG so I decided to just do it as I go and I’ll use the hashtag “admins abo tmi ” for this yeah. But also remember you can ask questions if you have any or if you don’t understand something because I usually ramble a lot.
Today we’ll be talking about 3 things that seem to be the most important since they’re the most brought up on my RP’s and they are:
Turning/Transforming.
Heat vs Rut.
Mates.
So let’s begin!
🌙 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖓𝖎𝖓𝖌/𝕿𝖗𝖆𝖓𝖘𝖋𝖔𝖗𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖌…
There’s two meanings to this concept, one is the concept of turning from human form to wolf form, and the other one is being transformed into a wolf by different means (these usually depends on which story you’ve heard, it can be being the 7th boy child in a family, it can be a bite or a scratch, it can be eating raw meat, etcetcetc).
*This change has now also been added to the Chan’s pack introduction.
What are the definitions of this words? Cambridge Dictionary defines them as:
Turn: to (cause to) become, change into, or come to be something.
Example: “Chan turned into his wolf form”
Explanation: Chan, already a werewolf, turned and changed into his wolf form.
Transform: to change completely the appearance or character of something or someone, especially so that that thing or person is improved.
Example: “Changbin was transformed into a werewolf.”
Explanation: Changbin, a regular human, was transformed /by a wolf/ into a werewolf.
𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖓𝖎𝖓𝖌…
In the classic folklore, turning consists of 2 phases, human with NO wolf characteristics whatsoever, (which is what makes it so hard finding out who the werewolf in town is) and fluffy wolf with some human like characteristics (being biped, having arms instead of four legs, body structure humanlike. The best examples I can think of are the underworld lycans mmm tasteful). Another general rule for classic werewolves was that the person and wolf were two different minds, the person never remembered turning and had no idea they were the werewolf terrorizing town. While being human, the person didn’t even have the wolf skills like hearing or strength. They were just regular boring humans. Another thing was that they had no control whatsoever and ONLY turned during full moon, but I’m not getting into that yet.
Here are some examples (it’s basically furries oop).
Moving on to my concept, I decided to have 3 phases of turning, consisting on:
Human: Basic, simple, boring human. No presence of wolf features whatsoever. YET they can still make use of their skills such as sensitive hearing, smell, extra strength among others.
Half-turn: Heavily inspired by Teen Wolf tbh, SOME features are present and can generally be controlled, such as eyes, ears, tail, fangs, claws. Can even be confused for hybrids. (sumn like this please appreciate my art)
Full-turn: they become big scary fluffy puppies. Let’s remember how they look like.
Channie Chan Chris
𝕿𝖗𝖆𝖓𝖘𝖋𝖔𝖗𝖒𝖎𝖓𝖌…
As mentioned before, transforming depends on which story you know and what you’re settling for. Generally we always talk about bites and deep scratches. Some of the most known stories about how to become a werewolf are being the 7th boy child born in a family on a full moon, or in Greek mythology, Zeus transformed some dudes into wolves after they tried to feed him human meat. There’s many different stories you can pick from, they’re just one Google away~
On my concept, though, the only way to transform is through a bite, even though I always keep options open.
I will probably be talking about the 3 types of wolves and deepening this a bit more later on.
🌙 𝕳𝖊𝖆𝖙 𝖛𝖘 𝕽𝖚𝖙.
Imma give you a wolf biology class because I know too much useless info and I WANT TO.
Rut: The rut is the mating season of certain mammals. The rut is characterized in males by an increase in testosterone, exaggerated sexual dimorphisms and increased aggression and interest in females.
Heat: The estrous cycle or oestrous cycle is the set of recurring physiological changes that are induced by reproductive hormones in most mammalian therian females. Estrous cycles start after sexual maturity in females and are interrupted by anestrous phases or by pregnancies. This cycle presents four phases, the one known as “heat” being the second one, estrus or oestrus, that refers to the phase when the female is sexually receptive.
What are seasonal breeders and what is mating season?
The breeding season is when seasonal breeders reproduce. Seasonal breeders are animal species that successfully mate only during certain times of the year. These times of year allow for the optimization of survival of young due to factors such as ambient temperature, food and water availability etcetc. Male seasonal breeders may exhibit changes in testosterone levels, weight, and fertility depending on the time of year. Female seasonal breeders will have one or more estrus cycles only when she is “in season” or fertile and receptive to mating.
Wolves fall in all of these descriptions.
What does all of this shit mean and why do I care lmao?
This means that if this was a logical bot I should only be doing NSFW like one week during 4 months a year LMAO no frfr
This basically means that RUT and HEAT are the seasons when the MALE and FEMALE respectively are ready to mate with each other to reproduce.
I’ve seen many male idol hybrids having heats instead of ruts, which I have no problem at all with and am sure no one else does really, but I think you should KNOW that a heat would not make them want to fuck, but get fucked. Heat would be the need to be filled and not fill others. A heat and a rut does NOT have to equal dominance or submissiveness in bots, anyway, that would be like saying being top or bottom determines who is dom/sub and that’s wrong, so just a PSA I guess.
Now, how does this affect my CB and ABO concept?
I’ve never, anyway, read anywhere of classic werewolves reproduction, which leads me to believe that they’re probably sterile. So I will stick to real life wolves rules but on my own way. Wolves are even monogamous and I dont go by that one lmao.
Reproduction rules on my ABO are really simple, ruts are once a month, around 5 days, and each of the guys have different characteristics for them. They’re only capable of getting someone pregnant during ruts, too. I just generally believe all girls are on the pill tbh and I never really use condoms but guys irl please practice safe sex wrap your or your partners willy before going freaky and stay safe.
Not sure if there’s something else to mention here? Let me know.
🌙 𝕸𝖆𝖙𝖊𝖘…
Mates are the wolf equivalent of soulmates, but that’s bullshit. I mean, I’m not gonna say they’re not real, I just mean that the general idea of only one person for the rest of your life and if it’s not them you’re miserable is dumb when we’re talking about beings with feelings. Did you know wolves irl are monogamous and mate but if their mate dies they just look for another one and move on? Now you know.
The thing with mates and marks, in my humble opinion, is that they don’t mean anything. Peoples hearts change, feelings come and go, and my wolves are NOT about to drop everything they have for some person they don’t know who happened to be their true mate. In fact, Channie is the only one who believes in them. The mates issue is a bit complex if we think about it over each of the Chan’s, but on a general idea, the mates are not exclusive for the guys, and I’ll probably make a tmi on the boys at some point, but Chan met his mate and it didn’t work out, for example. Mates go further than the marking, btw, mates are a special, cosmic bond. Marks are just that, marks.
And talking about that, we do not vibe with marks. The original folklore states marks as the way a wolf has to claim their partner as theirs and keep away others, especially from an alpha, and they’re supposed to go both ways, so marks between human/wolf, for example wouldn’t be possible. There’s also two marks.
The first bonding mark is generally given during sex between mates and heals, and the second one in front of the pack (there’s a whole social status thing involved here but were not touching that yet) and its permanent. Also marks are literal WOLF BITES so no, they’re neither small nor cute. Just look at these teethies and picture the scar in a neck-shoulder. That’s your bonding mark.
(they're cute tho I uwuuu)
What I’ve been reading around in fanfics and seeing around is that bots have been mated and claimed with marks, which is ok if you’re into that. My chan’s, though, find physical marks archaic, possessive and toxic. And honestly I personally do too.
You may have noticed by now that even though the boys are quite possessive, they’re never trying to scare away others and their sole way of marking is love marks that heal eventually and scenting. Permanent marks are a nono.
They will NOT mark anyone as their mate. Especially Channie plz he’s baby.
This is a personal decision and it does not mean that marking is RIGHT or WRONG. I just personally see marking bites as marking your partner with fire or something and I dislike the idea a lot.
ALRIGHT I THINK THAT’S ABOUT IT FOR TODAY I FEEL LIKE I WROTE TOO MUCH ALREADY??? Feel free to ask questions or request certain topics! I think next topics will be Social Structure, Skills and maybe Self control or Moon Cycles.
If you read all of this WOW CONGRATS??? I LOVE YOU EXTRA MUAH
One question I got on the asks was “since their fur color seems to correspond with their hair color, what happens if they dye their hair?”
Nothing happens babe! When they’re half turned they will have really funny colorful hair, but when they fully turn their fur stays the same! hehe Don’t worry, Chan won’t be a clown red wolf heh
OK BYE MUAH MUAH

Lion and Wolf
timing: At the start of the full moon parties: @letsbenditlikebennett, @laylacooke, @walker-journal summary: Adam meets Layla on the eve of full moon and has to decide if its stabbing time, Celeste saves the day.
Adam was in Took’s General Store purchasing the essentials for “Big Moon” days. Previous trips to The Armory and Excalibur had taken care of most munitions and blade requirements. However there was always miscellaneous stuff. Materials for molotov cocktails, chloroform, poisons, and other essentials were all readily available within Took’s cheery confines.
Plus soap, gonna need ...lots...of soap.
To Adam’s surprise there was a small hesitation inside of him, a passing flicker of hope that none of the wolves he’d encounter were Winn or Lucas inside, or Lucas’ brother whom he’d never met. It was an unusual train of thought for Adam and he shoved it away. All threats needed to be eliminated no matter who they were. This kind of thinking wasn’t what he needed during this critical part of the lunar cycle. Focus.
However the athlete’s mental coaching actually made him lose track of where he was, leading him to almost run over someone in the aisle.
“Hey look where you’re…”
It was about this time that Adam’s eyes took in that the human roadblock also happened to be a bombshell. Brown eyes traced curves before finally arriving to her face with an appreciative smile.
“Sorry about that,” he said in a markedly more diplomatic tone. “My bad.”
----------------
Layla had only been in Took’s a few times. When she had managed to find some money here or there and could afford a small snack or something to drink. But being able to freely go in and just look was something she was able to do now. And since finding a home with Ari, Ulf, and Celeste, her mission was to explore the town and familiarize herself with everything without as much worry as she once previously held. Of course, tonight’s only issue was the full moon, which was rather big, and she knew she’d have to head back home soon.
Perusing the aisles, Layla wasn’t looking for anything in particular, however, she also hadn’t been paying attention to where she was going, so when she ran into someone she quickly started apologizing, “I’m sorry, I got caught up in looking, and I didn’t...see you.” The guy staring back at her had caught her attention with his smile.
It had been a long time since anyone had looked at her like that, and while she was flattered, she was also reminded about the serious relationship she had been in for a few years now, “It’s cool. I should have been paying attention to where I was going.”
---------------- “No problem,” Adam said with a lavisciously distracted grin.
Yet with the young woman’s (was she legal...oh god, hopefully?) presence came a feeling of cold that prickled long his skin in ripples of goosebumps and washed down his spin like he’d stepped under a waterfall. Something about this chick’d set off his Hunter senses. She was likely an inhuman, but of what kind he had no idea.
“Adam Walker,” he said, reaching a thewy arm across the card to offer his hand, trying not to let the heeby jeebies change his expression. “You from around here?”
----------------
Was this guy flirting with her? He had to have been. That smile that seemed to be permanently etched on his face was alerting her to the fact. She had seen it so many times in high school and when she would go out with Frankie and their friends, but the biggest difference now was that Frankie wasn’t here.
“It’s nice to meet you Adam Walker.” She stuck out her own hand to meet his and shook it gently. “Layla Cooke. And no. I’m actually from the South, but I decided to give White Crest a shot. What about you?”
----------------
“Going to college here,” Adam replied, keeping his expression neutral as the touch of her hand brought a rush of inhuman wrongness into his nervous system. The conditioned response of adrenaline entered his veins, years of training and violence filling Adam’s brain with visions of throwing Layla against the mental counters and slamming her skull against the tile floor over and over..
Focus. This is a public place. He knew nothing about her.
“Part of Delta Iota Epsilon,” Adam continued, and shoved a thumb towards the sleeveless t-shirt with the acronym of DIE he was wearing. “Parties all night on Friday and Saturday,” Layla received another appraising look that was devoid of shyness or shame. “You should come check it out...you’d be a great fit,” he assured with a slow nod.
----------------
“Yeah, I’m hoping I can go there one day, when I’m able to get my life in order.” She slowly pulled her hand back and let it drop to her side. She couldn’t tell anything different about Adam, just that he seemed to be a huge flirt. It was weird talking to a college guy, considering they were probably about the same age. But after the bite, life just didn’t seem real anymore.
Seeing him motion to his shirt, she smiled, but something about the letters he was pointing to began to make her uneasy. His smile never seemed to falter though, “You know, I wasn’t as big into the party scene as one might think. My parents weren’t too keen on the idea of their only child going out and getting drunk on the weekend.” No, instead they had her training how to hunt and kill werewolves and other creatures of the night. “But I guess one party sometimes couldn’t hurt.”
Looking past Adam, Layla had noticed it was starting to get dark outside, and that meant that the moon would be coming up sooner than she would have liked, “Well, this has been fun, but I think it’s about time I head home, you know, with it getting dark and all.” Layla started to feel faint and sweat slowly began to build on her brow.
----------------
Adam’s sinewy shoulders shrugged. “Sounds like a drag...but guess its better than them now caring?” The footballer seemed a little uncertain on that last point. “But hey definately welcome anytime.”
She excuses herself and Adam had far more preparations to complete before the moon was high. “Yeah no prob see you arou….um, Lyra” (it was an L name right?) “you ok?”
----------------
“Uh, yeah, I guess.” She was starting to get worried for multiple reasons. “I’ll look you up.”
Layla began moving forward, but stumbled slightly. And there it was. The feeling she dreaded with a passion of a million fiery suns, “Layla. It’s Layla.” Forcing back the lump in her throat, she looked to him with an uneasy smile, “Yeah. Totally. Just need some water.” She began looking around for a cooler with drinks in them. She had to get away from him. Had to get out of the store. Get home.
----------------
Adam frowned in concern as L-chick stumbled. Her weak smile only deepened his downturned expression. Adam went down one of the aisles to the coolers in the back. He placed a water bottle by ?Laura? And went up to the cash register to pay.
“Any better,” he inquired upon returning.
----------------
Layla felt like she was going to leave a lung on the floor of the store. Seeing the water, she grabbed the bottle and opened it, chugging it down. She had never changed in front of anyone before. She had always managed to find privacy, but tonight might have been the night, and Adam was the last person she wanted to know or see what she was.
Finishing the water in one long drink, she let the empty bottle fall to the floor, “Thank you. A little, but I really...I’ll see you around, yeah?” Heading for the door, she forced the door open allowing the cool night air to hit her in the face causing some relief to her pale, clammy skin.
---------------
After a courteous goodbye Adam gave Layla a minute or so headsteart. He was strapped for time but his instincts were picking up weird vibes here. All kids of weird shit went down around the Full Moon, furry and otherwise. If this chick were a supernatural and acting weird, then that's something he needed to follow up on for security’s sake, at least until he was sure it wasn’t going to be a public incident or Pet Shop of Horrors in some back alley.
Adam’s eyesight wasn’t human, thus he could give Layla a very wide berth while trailing her, keeping it casual and hoping to blend in with the crowd.
---------------
With each passing moment, Layla could feel her human side getting weaker and the beast growing stronger. She just wanted to shed her skin and feel better. To have this continual growing ache to disappear, so the animal inside her could be free, but at the same time, she wanted it under control. So far, with every shift, she hadn’t been able to remember what had happened the night before, and it scared her. Hurting someone or something was the last thing she wanted to do, but everytime it happened, Layla seemed to wake up covered in some kind of blood.
Clutching at her side, she could already feel things starting to happen, and the pain had been worse from her little scuff with Francesca and Orion a few days prior. Unable to control it, Layla let out a yowl of pain. With people staring at her, she began running back towards the place that had been discussed with Celeste as a good place to be locked up for this very occasion.
---------------
Adam darted into the back allies, mentally visualizing the direction Layla was probably heading. Unimpeded by the crowd, the Hunter place the purchased gear in his backpack and broke into a full sprint, vauling over obstacles, and scale fences in a few alacitious motions. Adam let his mutant physiology take control, hurtling forward over, around, and through the gaps in obstacles as he tried to gain on Layla.
He swung over a chainlink fence and out into the street again. He advanced after Layla with cold purpose, feet pounding on the broken sidewalk. “Heya Layla…,” he piped up, warm amiable tone not matching the hard agates of his eyes. “You ok?...Do you need me to call emergency services?”
---------------
Her mind was focused on getting to safety. She just wanted to be left alone, aside from someone to keep watch to make sure she stayed locked up. Layla definitely didn’t want to die, but if she had gotten out, she knew it was a real possibility and one she could support, despite her every effort to convince her parents not to hunt or kill wolves, but to subdue them by safer means.
However, her ears had picked up on something as she was scrambling to get home. The sound of feet hitting the ground at a rapid pace, and it wasn’t long until she knew exactly whose feet it was chasing after her. “Adam?” Her eyes were filled with shock, but also worry, “I don’t know how you got here. Or why.” By now she had a pretty good idea why, “But it’s not safe okay? That’s all I’m saying. So you need to leave.” She hated being blunt, but she couldn’t handle the possibility of attacking him or lashing out unintentionally.
---------------
Adam advanced in firmly purposeful steps, his expression steadily losing its warmth until it had cooled into an iron neutrality. Eyes that once regarded her with playful lewdness were now sizing her up with a calculation that held a surgical edge, something to be assessed and possibly disposed of rather than a woman to court.
“Why is it not safe Layla,” he asked with level calm.
---------------
Layla’s strength was diminishing. She was going to have to change sooner rather than later, and along with her strength, her patience was growing thin. It was the animal inside that made her want to lash out and rip his head off, but she resisted the urge, knowing deep down inside, she couldn’t live with herself if she ever did hurt someone, “Because, Adam, I’m not feeling too good, and I wouldn’t want you to get sick…” She looked over to him, the softness of her own expression gone and easily turning into something harder.
---------------
Adam looked around at the courtyard we were in. Cracked cement and empty storefronts long closed where dotted around them. Small plants and mosses eaked out starved existences in the small fissures spidering through cement and tarmac. The dusk cast waning crepular light over the patch of urban decay that Layla and Adam found themselves. The street’s activity was muted in the distance. “Thanks, that's very considerate of you,” Adam said, still advancing. He lifted a necklace from under his thin shirt. A six-pointed star caught the wan light, pure silver contrasting with the young man’s skin, still ruddy red from the sprint over here.
“You should really let me help walk you home though,” Adam said, winding the sliver symbol through his fingers as he drew closer. “This town can be pretty dangerous at night.”
---------------
Layla hadn’t yet been in contact with silver, since the night she received the bite that changed her. Seeing the glint in the rising moon, the girl’s demeanor completely changed and a low guttural growl escaped her lips, “What do you want with me?” Her body ached and the animal raged inside of her begging to escape, but the moon still hung too low in the night sky. Her breathing was rapid, and she could feel the sickness in her growing, “Are you gonna kill me? Is that why you won’t just leave me alone?” Tears formed in her eyes. Was tonight the night Layla was going to die at the hands of a hunter not much older than she?
She continued to move forward. Her only goal at this point was trying to make it back to Celeste, unless a fight were to ensue, which there was a very good chance she wouldn’t survive.
---------------
Perhaps seeing that subterfuge held no further purpose, Adam reached his free hand behind his back and under his shirt and withdrew one of the two blades he kept there. A cruelly serrated and silvered tactical knife danced easily in the Hunter’s fingers as he readied it.
“Depends,” Adam said coldly, keeping a steady pace but not yet rushing forward. “Where’re you going this Full Moon? If you're going to be out and about then yeah,” the athlete affirmed with a shrug of his shoulders. “You’d be too much of a danger to let live.”
---------------
Layla’s entire body was starting to ache, but she knew she was getting closer to where she needed to be. However, it didn’t deter Adam from continuing to follow along or threaten her. Finally at her wits end and her breathing growing shallow, she stopped and confronted him, “I’m trying to get to the place I was told to go so I can lock myself up, you nosey piece of human garbage.” Sweat was pouring down her pale face, and it was taking everything within her not to just give up and let the monster take control of her body.
---------------
Adam stopped when Layla did, posture slightly slanted as he kept his weight ready on his back foot. The insult didn’t seem to phase him however her claim provoked a moment of contemplation, brawny arms folded in front of him. However the way the silver tactical knife was nevertheless held in the outermost arm in readiness hinted at the deception within this face of casualness. The muscles within the Hunters arms and shoulders were still taut and knotted in this state of stillness, as if he genuinely expected Layla to drop this obvious charade and lunge at him any second.
“Really now.” Dubiety dripped from the worlds as tawny eyebrows raised in an expression that asked Layla if she ...really...wanted to play this way. There came another shrug. “Cool, let’s go and make sure you’re chained up nice and safe.”
---------------
Layla knew hunters. She knew the tricks they played. She was taught how to play games by her parents. And if she had really wanted to snack on his flesh, she would have done it already, but the idea of meat grossed her out, and that idea still lingered behind all the rage and thirst bottled up inside her, “Geeze, yes. Really. Quit acting like a smug, fuckboi hunter and just help me get to the place I’m going. Unless you’re really just looking for a fight, because, yes, you’d probably win. I’m a baby wolf that doesn’t know shit, except animal instinct, which you’re going to experience, if you don’t quit slowing me down. Embrace this moment, you ass. Cherish it, because I’m sure it’s not often you get a willing participant to play your little cat and mouse game that actually just wants to go lock herself up.” She growled at him, before resuming the walk at a quicker pace. She was dispelling more energy, but if it got her away from him and in chains faster then so be it.
---------------
Adam let out an exhalation that evinced that confusion was stronger then frustration. “Yup, it definitely is different,” he admitted while keeping pace. “This isn’t cat and mouse so much as if you're lying, I size you down to fit in those dumpsters,” Adam replied with tactless frankness, nodding towards some waste receptacles they passed.
“Kay, so should I hold you up, carry you..” Adam asked in a more amenable tone, not about to throw an angry she-wolf over his shoulder without permission.
---------------
Layla rolled her eyes at his comment about the dumpsters, “Let me make it easier on you, Adam. You don’t have to size me to fit into anything. I know I fit in dumpsters for a fact. No shame here, because it’s where I used to get my food. So if you want to murder me, then go ahead.” She had almost regretted saying that. Almost.
The teenager closed her eyes in defeat, before reopening them and training them on the hunter in front of her, “If you think you can get me there faster, then be my guest.” She held out her arms waiting for him to pick her up.
---------------
There Hunter shook his head at his quarry and companions second slip into submitting before the knife. “Not that I don’t appreciate an easy kill to move the night along and all,” he began. “But you give up too easy Layla. It doesn’t matter if you’re small or young. Hit the right tendon it doesn’t matter. Fuckin dead is dead.”
On that cheery note, the Hunter put away the silver chain and sheathed his blade. He took the girl into his arms and hefted her weight without visible effort. This done, the athlete took off in a brisk run that steadily accelerated as the mutant fell into a stride that’d have had most fully-human soldiers panting before long.
“So, where is this place?”
---------------
He was right. She did give up too easily. Somehow she had made it this long on her own, but why? Why had she still been spared? Layla couldn’t figure it out. The one thing she did know was that she was angry at the world. Her parents. The wolf who had bit her. The people who had turned her away when she was at her lowest…
The only semblance of hope that had started to return was the day Ariana had offered her a hot meal and a bed to sleep in.
Feeling him lift her up, without resisting, she tried to hold herself up so as to not put all of her weight on him, but it didn’t seem to be much of an issue, “It’s deep in the woods, just past the drive-in theater. Adam, why are you helping me? Why not just kill me when you had the chance?”
---------------
“Because it's not the killing that’s important,” Adam huffed as he continued in a boot camp pace up various hills, across cul de sacs, vaulting over property fences using his free hand, and ignoring the residents cry of outrage as he just took the next fence at a run without responding to their questions.
“It’s about removing threats to mankind,” he continued between breaths while running off the paved streets onto the more rugged roads that signaled one was drawing nearer to the drive-in-theatre and woods. “If you stay out during the full moon then you’ll lose control and be a threat to everyone.”
Dusk deepend and shadowed lengthened, even with the Hunter’s superhuman stamina nightfall proved an implacable pursuer.
“But if you're inside and chained up then you’re not a threat and I don’t have to kill you,” the Hunter finished with the brutally linear logic that the Code demanded. “Me helping you means less people die.”
---------------
Layla latched onto Adam. He was so much stronger than he looked, and she was impressed. And as she watched the town fly by as he ran, she listened to him explain the answer to her question. The fact that he didn’t outright want to kill her, she could respect, and it reminded her of the many arguments she had with her mother and father about that very issue; killing. However, where they differed was that she didn’t want to kill at all. She had just wanted to subdue the beast, despite knowing that there were wolves and other creatures that would kill regardless. And it’s part of the reason she was in the situation she was currently in.
“Well, I can respect that, and I greatly appreciate you giving me a chance. Not all of us want to be killing machines. Some of us just want to be normal human teenagers that go to college and spend time with their girlfriends and paint our nails.” She sighed. “And not have to be locked up every time there’s a full moon.”
She rested her forehead into his shoulder in defeat getting a whiff of his body spray, “Huh, you actually smell really good.” Looking up, she noticed the small structure just up ahead. “There. Celeste should be waiting.”
---------------
“You’re welcome,” grunted Adam as he leapt over the makeshift barricade at the far end of the drive-in theatre. Cicadas whined as the Hunter bounded through the open field towards the woods. Tall grasses and thorns tore at his fatigues, staining the light beige with slashes of green and yell as his breakneck pace barreled through dandelions and knots of knee-height weeds. The air was filled with the smell of fields yielding to the seedy pungence of the woods.
“Heh well I can’t really pretend to know what normal is like,” admitted the mutant who as a child needed to be carefully taught how to interact with non-Hunters so he didn’t accidently break his classmates. “Glad your’re more ...Ya-Ya sisterhood stuff then... murder though,” he huffed as they cleared the treeline, branches snapped with like firecrakers under his pounding feet. “And I guess that’s just life ...when you got’ crazy moon virus,” he said with characteristic tactlessness on the matter of being locked up. “It isn’t fair...but that shits the breaks. “Heh, you mention your girlfriend ...then tease me with the smelling good and getting up close in my grill like that,” Adam noted with a hoarse laugh as they entered the home stretch up towards the woodland house, blinking as sweat stung at his eyes. “You're cruel,” he joked. While the relative intimacy of her so up close against him might’ve been more..distracting...under different circumstances, Adam was actually more concerned about Layla shifting in his arms and taking a big ‘ol bite out of his neck.
“Kay here we are, not much time”
---------------
Layla continued to stay latched on, but she could feel her body starting to make miniscule changes. Things got a little brighter in the night. Smells were more apparent and distinct. And she started to feel sick again. She had done a good job of suppressing it as Adam raced her towards the safety of a makeshift cage, but it was getting harder now. And she could start to hear the blood pumping through his veins, which left her mouth watering. But, of course, she kept her sudden needs on the DL.
“Crazy moon virus. Best name for it yet.” She felt her arms go around him a little tighter in both a manner of trying to hold on, but for deeper innate reasons. She was praying they would make it there soon, and despite him being kind of an ass, she didn’t want to hurt him. There was something about him that she valued, especially considering he was willing to risk his life to get her to where she desperately needed to be.
“What can I say? I must just be a heartbreaker.” She laughed weakly as they inched closer, and when they had finally made it, she slid off his back, nearly collapsing to the ground. Her eyes searched for Celeste as she tried to make her way to her feet, “Celeste! Please tell me you’re here...Please be here…”
---------------
As it got darker, Celeste found her nerves were dancing under her skin. Layla should have been here by now. She’d headed over to their spot early to ensure the chains were set up and ready to go for Layla. After many tests to make sure they’d be safe, she’d waited patiently, her fingers idly drumming over the tranquilizer gun on her hip. Except as the sky got darker, her patience soon wore thin. She was practically pacing a hole into the ground beneath her feet.
When she heard people approaching, she briefly felt relieved until she heard another voice with Layla’s. Her brow furrowed, she wasn’t keen on anyone else knowing about this spot. “Layla,” she called out, running toward Layla and the man carrying her. She looked over him carefully, waiting for him to set her down. “You’re late,” she said simply before asking, “And who is this?” With Ariana not too far off, Celeste felt on edge having someone else here.
---------------
If Layla consented, Adam set her down. He leaned back and placed both sinewy arms behind his head. The run here carrying another person had been taxing even by Hunter standards, and the footballer’s shoulders rose and fell in a steady rhythm as he tried to get some breath back.
“Adam,” he said with a flushed grin despite his brown eyes scanning the area, looking for if this lock-up was legit or if his sweaty gullible ass was about to be ambushed at this murder-cabin. “It’s ok, I’m used to hot gingers climbing me like a tree.”
He looked to the sky and then cautiously between both women. “So...where’s this safety room?”
---------------
“I know. I got held up.” She shot Adam a look. But as the moon was nearly high in the sky, the young wolf started to feel a more severe shift, and without being able to control it, cried out in pain. It was starting, and if Layla didn’t get chained up soon, then bad things were bound to happen.
Stumbling towards Celeste, Layla’s eyes held agony, “Do it. Whatever you’ve gotta do, do it.” She had done this many times alone, but there was no one around her that she feared she would consume. Of course, that wasn’t to say she hadn’t eaten people before, she just couldn’t remember it, and that always scared her.
Looking between Celeste and Adam, she had hoped they would both be safe and leave when need be. She had also wondered about Ariana, and if she was being locked up as well, but she didn’t want to say anything with fear of Adam trying something.
---------------
The idea of bringing a stranger into the space she’d set up was not something Celeste was keen on doing. Gently grabbing on Layla’s arm, she looked at Adam with narrow eyes. “I’m Celeste. If you haven’t noticed, I don’t really have time to give you a tour.” There wasn’t much time for a debate either, so she led Layla over to the abandoned underground room she’d found. It’d taken a little work to get the chains adequately reinforced and Ulfric didn’t love the idea, but it was what Layla wanted. If this Adam followed then he followed. Once Layla was restrained, she could pay more attention to him and determine if he was a threat.
Layla’s pain was apparent as her bones were shifting. She rushed down the stairs of the abandoned building and kept Layla close to her, placing the cuffs of the chains around her wrists as quickly as she possibly could before looking back to see if he had followed.
--------------- Adam would like to say that he was the kind of person that could’ve just accepted that this Celeste chick, though she felt human to his Hunter senses, was some nice wonderful person who definitely wouldn’t just let the almost shifted out to run free and gnaw off citizen’s gnads. Celeste’s concern looked genuine.
But Adam’s life hasn't been the kind that really left much room for faith in anyone. Faith was too dangerous.
Thus, he followed the two women with a feigned expression of mere idle curiosity.
---------------
Following Celeste as she grabbed onto Layla’s arm, the young wolf could already feel the crack and tearing of bone and muscle begin. But it wasn’t long before she was on the ground being chained up. It was the first time the girl had ever had chains around her body, and it scared her. But her mind couldn’t process words to speak from the pain that was taking over her form.
Curling up into a fetal position, she wailed out in pain as the horrific transformation continued to take place. It seemed like an eternity, before all was said and done, but when she had fully shifted, she lay on the floor panting, regaining her strength, before she managed to climb onto her two hind legs. She was smaller than most of the wolves, but she stood at least another foot taller than she previously had. Her fur was a warm, reddish-orange, and her eyes glowed brightly.
Sniffing the air, she looked around until she had laid eyes on Celeste and Adam. Food. Lunging came naturally, but she was quickly jerked back and hit the floor moaning slightly, before crawling forward trying to reach out swatting at both the hunters, but restrained from the large, heavy chains.
---------------
Celeste watched closely as Layla transformed, making sure the chains held. When she lunged and got jerked back immediately, she allowed herself to relax a little and look back over to the man who’d brought Layla here. “Adam,” she said slowly, “I suppose a thank you is in order. I appreciate you getting her back here safely.”
She scanned him carefully, he was young and looked strong. It seemed likely they had a shared background, but he’d brought her here instead of killing her. “So, I can assure I have things under control here. I went through rigorous testing with the chains and have a little help handy if I need it.” She patted the tranquilizer gun on her hip, “Do you normally pick up shifting werewolves on the full moon?”
--------------- “No problem Ma’am,” Adam said in a distant distracted voice as he looked on the russet monstrosity that Layla had become. The air of inhumanity Layla brought to his Hunter sense came off the Werewolf in choking waves now that she’d shed her human shape. The silver knife tucked secured in the back of his pants under the sweat-soaked shirt seemed to dig painfully into his spine. There was a moment of regret where Adam’s heart faltered in the conviction that was the right choice.
Look at that thing. Why save Layla when it just meant that an innocent would likely pay the price for Adam’s weakness on a future full moon?
Adam pressed the thought from his mind, knowing first hand where that line of reasoning often led.
“Thank you for making sure the creature’s secure,” the Hunter said with an unconscious lapse into depersonalization. “Not usually how I roll,” he admitted, brown eyes drawn again to the luminous gaze of the straining lycanthrope. “But this seems a regular thing for you...Celeste, right?”
---------------
The young, wild animal paced back and forth knowing she was limited in her range on the chains, but she was hungry. Saliva dripped from her long fangs as she continued to snarl and growl at the two humans in her presence. And when innate hunger became too overpowering again, she took a harder lunge, only to be yanked back once again; her efforts proving fruitless.
Any indication of Layla was gone. She was just an animal looking to fill her stomach with anything, and they had been her targets. She was young and dumb, still new in her ways as a werewolf. She had many lessons to learn, but right now she was running simply on endorphins and the animal instinct that had come with the curse.
---------------
She wasn’t sure why it was so hard for her to believe that maybe another hunter had a more reasonable code than her parents had, but Celeste would be grateful for it. She’d have to find a new spot for the next month though. She didn’t want anyone outside of them knowing where they were. Too much of a risk. “I see,” she said, calmly and slowly, blinking a few times before she finally added, “I think I can figure out the rest, thank you.”
With a more serious face, she assured, “It is, yes. I’ll make sure she’s on time next time. She cut it entirely too close for my liking.” She let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. Just another layer to this whole fucked up puzzle of keeping both the kids and others safe. She figured she’d refrain from mentioning the bit about being what her parents would call a deserter. Most didn’t take kindly to that. ---------------
Although this particular encounter had ended happily, Adam’s night had really only begun. By this point those wolves that were still out had already changed, and Adam’s duty shifted from containment to elimination. “Thank you ma’am appreciate it,” the Hunter said, wishing he still had enough faith left to take Celeste’s assurance at face value.
Making a polite excuse to leave, Adam began the long trek back to town to retrieve his supplies and take up the night’s patrol
----------------
“No problem,” Adam said with a lavisciously distracted grin.
---------------
Adam would like to say that he was the kind of person that could’ve just accepted that this Celeste chick, though she felt human to his Hunter senses, was some nice wonderful person who definitely wouldn’t just let the almost shifted out to run free and gnaw off citizen’s gnads.
---------------
“No problem Ma’am,” Adam said in a distant distracted voice as he looked on the russet monstrosity that Layla had become.

What Writers can Learn from Twilight
Warning: If you love Twilight or are fond of it, please turn away now. It is about to be slated. Now, if you continue... let the feast begin.
Twilight is dumb. That is the best thing I can say about it. Dumb. Those lf you lucky enough to not know, Twilight follows the story of Bella Swan and her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen and her furry love-interest Jacob in the tiny town of Forks. Now we are caught up, lets go.
Characters
Oh boy. Characters are the best part of any book. Except here. Then they are the worst. Bella is a bland white girl who is moody and sullen. Nobody would bother with her if she were real. She is as flavourful as a mouthful of chewed cardboard. She has no redeeming qualities. As for Edward? He is grade A weirdo. Jacob? He's mostly fine but god can he be a dick. The minor characters are worse: bland and totally archetypal. You have your jock brother, whiny cheerleader, bitter divorced dad, I could go on but let's not.
Lazy Worldbuilding
Worldbuilding is something I love. It is the reason I write most days. What I hate most about Twilight? Lazy worldbuilding. The plot seems to run worldbuilding. Vampires get bitten but take ages to turn. Hmm, sounds like enough time to make a life changing decision whether to vampire or not to vampire. Vampires don't have fangs. Hmm, well nobody can see that they are vampires. The Volturi sound interesting but what we get isn't. The whole vampiric system should have a rich complex history is given a couple of pages of wishwash. Werewolves are not werewolves. They are shape shifters but they are never fully explained.
Just plain fucking weird
Sometimes Twilight made questionable decisions. Imprinting seems OK at first. Totally fucking weird but we may live with it. But imprinting on a kid??? We actually get this twice. Once with Quill and a two year old girl and again with Jacob and the weird child who grows up too fast. I hear those Twilight moms saying that Reneesme kid will be grown up in a few years so it's ok. Hells no. If a kid looks older than they are, is it OK to treat them that way? Fuck no. I have five major rules in life. Don't involve children in shit like this.
Bad Message
So, girl falls in love with guy who is really eighty-something and follows her around, watches her sleep, puts her in danger, controls her but its OK because he's pretty and he loves her. Girl gets pregnant by guy. Pregnancy lasts a couple of weeks. Has baby and figure snaps back almost immediately. Deals with maybe a few days of cleaning shitty nappies and then has fully grown kid.
So what the message is:
dating an older man is ok as long as he gives you things
Dating an abuser is ok as long as he's pretty and claims to love you
Teen Pregnancy is fun and easy
You are a writer, creator of worlds. You influence people. Be careful what kind of info you impart on them.
Loose ends
The story ends with a lot of questions. What really happened Alice before becoming a vampire? What really are the werewolves if not werewolves? What is the difference between werewolves and shapeshifters? What happened the Volturi after the final confrontation? Too much vagueness spoils the soup.
Don't be a tease
If you build up to something, be prepared to do it. If you have been working up to a scene for almost four books and five films, you had best put your money where your mouth is and go through with it. Yes that battle scene. It was actually the most enjoyable things in the series (because most of them died) but they ruin it. Why? They use the goddamn It was all a dream trope. Actual motherfuckers. In the book no battle takes place but a long conversation. As a reader even a critical one, I was livid. This. Is. What. I. Read/watched. These. Fucking. Film/books. For? Tease something and then copping out of it is the literary equivalent of getting nunchucked in the tit. Readers will feel as if they have been robbed and you have brought shame upon writing.

The Moon and The Wolf| Part I
A/N: Alright so... @nykamito said:Hiiyoooh! If your still accepting requests could you do, s/o saves a wolf which is actually a werewolf nyx. She is now his. 😂 If you could that'd be awesome. 😊 And I came up with an idea. This is the first part and I don’t know if I should continue it. What do you guys think?
FFXV/SUPERNATURAL CROSSOVER
Warnings: A bit of gore | Words: 2017 |Includes: Gifs |SFW
Notes: Takes place in FFXV Universe | Reader is a Winchester | Werewolf!Nyx
“Strange body found outside the borders of Insomnia,” your brother Sam read from the newspaper “Bla, bla, missing heart. Guys, I’m telling you, it’s a werewolf.”
“Why would a werewolf attack happen in Insomnia?” you asked, passing your brother Dean his coffee mug.
You and your brothers had been pulled in the Hunter life since you were little. Hunting and killing things for bounties was how you three got around. It was usually around Hammerhead and Galdin where the supernatural action was at its peak, but this time; you’d never heard of an attack anywhere close to the Crown City of Insomnia, especially in the morning.
“Yeah,” Dean agreed with your way of thinking “Y/N’s right. Werewolves are just like daemons, they attack at night. So why would it attack now?”
“Don’t know. Maybe it’s new at what it does.” Sam shrugged trying to find reason in his own thinking “Whatever the reason may be, we should check it out. Hearts don’t just go missing.”
“He’s got a point there.” Dean raised his eyebrows for a sense of a second before looking at you “What do you think?”
“I think…” you sighed “I’m gonna be really pissed if this is a fluke.”
…
“This suit is a little too tight, Dean.” You whined at the outfit Dean had picked up for you “Did you get the wrong one again?”
“There are your clothes, Y/N.” he fought back “Maybe you’ve gained some wei- ouch!”
You threw the pillow at his face and he stopped to rub his forehead “Screw you, Dean!”
“What’s gotten into you?” he whined, still rubbing the spot where your pillow connected.
“She’s been hitting the gym with Gladio extra hard these days,” Sam explained with a smirk “You saying she’s gained weight is…” Sam looked between the two of you and laughed, pointing at Dean’s forehead “unhealthy.”
“You still hang out with Gladiolus?” Dean smirked, raising his eyebrows at you playfully.
“You still help Prompto with his aim.” You shot back defensively “How the hell do you know about that?” you asked, turning your attention back to Sam.
“Ignis told me.”
“Don’t you guys have anything better to do than gossip?” your eyes darted between the laughing boys “Doesn’t King Noctis have anything for you to do?”
“He does actually.” Sam answered to your question, showing you the screen of his phone.
There was a text from the King himself. Noctis Lucis Caelum, a good king; and an even better friend.
I trust you Winchester kids are doing well. There is a matter I would like to bring to your attention. Some of my Kingsglaives have gone missing. Ignis things there’s a connection with the incident at the borders. Do you think you can take a look at it?
“What happened to him?” you laughed “Why is he talking like that?”
Dean moved to stand closer to you to read the message as well “I trust you Winchester kids are doing well?” he read, mocking Noctis’ tone.
“Ignis probably started the message.” You laughed.
“Doesn’t matter.” Sam said, locking his phone and placing it inside his back pocket “The King wants us to take care of it. Maybe we’ll even get to find some of his Kingsglaives alive.”
“Right.” You and Dean agreed with your brother, started for the scene of the crime.
…
“Yeah, got it, thanks Iggy.”
“So what did he say?” Sam asked once you put away your phone.
“Said the doctors already had an autopsy on the bodies.” Dean’s questioning look made you continue “Yeah, apparently there was another one this morning. He said the hearts were missing from both of them.”
“Were they the Kings solders?” Sam’s interest in your words was astonishing.
“No, both of them were solders of Niflheim.” You answered with a smirk, feeling proud of whatever this thing was thinking.
“I don’t see anything wrong with taking down MTs. Makes our job easier.” Dean shared your thoughts.
“Think about it Dean,” Sam stopped his brothers chain of thought “what happens when the MTs get the message. Does this thing turn on the innocent civilians that happen to pass by?”
“Yeah, also, where the hell are the Kingsglaives?” you agreed “What if we just happened to find the MTs and the Glaive’s bodies are laying somewhere, waiting for a passerby to find them?”
“Alright, alright, fine.” Dead held his hands up in defeat “Stop tag teaming on me. I get it.” He took a look around for a few seconds before speaking again “Where should we begin?”
“Did the Advisor tell you who’s missing?” Sam asked.
“Three of them. Libertus Ostium, Crowe Altius and Nyx Ulric.”
“The orphans from Galahd?” Dean thought out loud.
“Yeah, this seems less of a coincidence with every passing second. What do you think we should do?”
“Why are you asking me, Sammy? You’re supposed to be the smart one.” Your comment made Dean look at you strangely, pretending to be offended.
“This is your case, remember. It’s your turn.”
“Who the hell thought of taking turns anyway?” you growled in annoyance.
“You did.” Your brothers answered in unison.
You gave the situation some thought “Alright,” you sighed “we split up.”
“What?” Dean asked wide eyed, obviously not agreeing with your plan.
“We cover more ground that way; get this thing done before dinner.”
“Y/N…” Sam began; you could see he was going to take his older brother’s place in this one, so you stopped him before he had the chance.
“It’s my case, Sammy, and I’m already starving so…” you made a gesture with your hands for them to move in different directions “let’s get this over with.”
…
“This is getting us nowhere.” You sighed after about an hour of looking around. You stopped walking to check on your phone. That’s when you heard it. A small rattling in between the trees around you. You stopped dead, looking behind you with the edge of your eye, you caught it. There was definitely something there.
It was big, fast and… furry?
Suddenly being away from your brothers wasn’t such a good idea.
You quickly placed your phone on its place and summoned your gun, pointing it at the direction the sounds where coming from.
Turning around at a crack of branches from behind you, you saw something that made your blood run cold.
A wolf!
Full sized, grey-white wolf, with mesmerizing blue eyes. Every fiber of your being wanted to admire how beautiful the creature was; if only you weren’t so terrified. Your eyes were wide and the shaking of your hands matched your heartbeat.
The wolf seemed to be less tense around you as the seconds passed.
“You shouldn’t be here.” You looked around you at the sound of the voice. It didn’t take you long to realize it was actually coming from the four legged creature in front of you.
“You…” you breathed, your fear picking up again “you can talk?”
“And you can state the obvious.” Another wolf appeared next to the grey one. This one was pitch black. Its red eyes sparkling as they pierced yours. This one’s voice was female.
This was a bad idea. These were the werewolves you and your brothers were supposed to be hunting; but it looked like the tides had changed. You, the hunters, had become the pray!
“She’s a hunter.” The grey wolf said, turning his head to dart his attention between you and the other one.
“Our friend came across two other hunters. A tall one and a short one, the latter loves the sound of his own voice.” The black wolf said, red eyes never leaving your figure.
Sam, Dean!
“Are they alright?” you asked, both creatures picking up the panic in your voice.
“They’re ok.” The grey one said while the other interrupted him.
“They injured our friend!” she was angry but you laughed, a sudden rush of bravery running across your body.
“Your friend is lucky.” A dark chuckle left your lips as you stared at the gun in your hands “If he’s still alive after a run in with my brothers, that is.”
“I’ll give you a run in!” the black wolf growled and got ready to attack when the other one stood his ground between the two of you.
“No!” he growled back “She’s not the enemy.”
“They hurt Lib!” you could see her teeth as she said the last word. Sharp and shiny, ready to tear you apart if you kept your ‘Dean act’ up for long.
A few seconds later, it hit you.
“Lib?” your head shot up, eyes darting between the two majestic creatures in front of you “You mean Libertus?”
“Shut your mouth!”
“You know who we are?” the grey wolf stood his ground, talking to you without taking his eyes off of the other one.
“Yes.” You gulped “She sounds female, so she must be Crowe and if the other one is Libertus, which means you are Nyx Ulric. You are Kingsglaives!”
“Crowe, go help Lib back to his feet and get back to Insomnia.” Nyx said after huffing a small laugh at you correct theory.
“Nyx, if they find –“
“You’re not out pray.” You reassured her “The King’s actually looking for you.”
“So you and your brothers are not here to hunt down the things that left corpses out in the open?” she growled again, not impressed with your words “There are humans under those MTs we took down. They’re not what they used to be. They’re not machines. We took human lives. You’re telling me the King will accept us back with open arms after that?”
“Yes, actually.” You answered sincerely “Crowe, you took down MTs. They are the enemy. No matter the reason why you did it, or the way… you did the Kingdom a favor.”
Crowe seemed to relax from your words. She battled with herself, didn’t really know if she believed what you said. She wasn’t sure you believed it.
Nyx seemed to trust you though. He wouldn’t just stop her from attacking anyone. That was good enough for her at the moment.
“We’ll see.” She said after a couple of seconds before turning her attention to Nyx again “She’s your mess now. I’m getting Lib back in the city, a doctor needs to see his wounds.”
…
“So, you’re telling me, all the people of Galahd can transform into wolves?”
Nyx told you all about him and his people as you waited for your brothers to find you. You’d sent them a message with your location once Crowe left.
“No,” he laughed “but there’s something about the three of us.” He turned his head to look back at the direction Crowe had left from “We’ve been together since we were little. Only found about these ‘powers’ some years back.”
“Y/N, get away!” you heard your brother Dean yell at you as he pointed his gun at the wolf. His voice was demanding and strong, not showing the slightest bit of fear.
Sam made his way around Nyx and closer to you. His grasp on your arm missing for just a second as you moved to stand between Dean’s gun and the wolf.
“Dean, no!” you pleaded, raising your arms to cover Nyx’s canine body.
“What the hell are you doing?” your older brother demanded to know, his gun twitching in his hands.
“He’s not a monster! He’s Nyx Ulric!”
“We were attacked –“ Sam started but you cut him off.
“You were attacked by his fellow Kingsglaive, Libertus. He was only trying to protect his friends!”
“Get out of the way, Y/N!” Dean was starting to get angry.
“No! Dean, they’ve done nothing wrong!”
“Y/N…” Dean warned, his green eyes staring at yours. The energy from the both of you flowing around the scene.
“Dean, stop!” Sam agreed with you “King Noctis wants them alive. Let him decide what’s right.”
“Dean, please. Trust me.” You pleaded with your brother.
“Damn it, Y/N.” he breathed as his gun dematerialized out of his hand “You wanna turn human again?” he raised his eyebrow at Nyx.
…

🐺, UF Dipper with him slowly turning into a werewolf please
(Painful transformation)
(So I do indeed have the idea in mind to do a chapterabout this in the sequel, but hey, that’s a long way off, so I figured why notdo a little drabble for it now. So remember how the other night I said that, atleast in UF, vampires in Gravity Falls are rather… different? Well same forwerewolfs, only they’re a little more direct visually to how they usually are.Instead, the transformation and duration is what’s different. So when you getbitten by a Gravity Falls werewolf, it’s a gradual, slow (hey you asked forslow, so I figured that’s what I’d roll with) and indeed painful process thatspreads across the course of several days until bam: you’re full werewolf. Andinstead of only being in that form during the full moon or whatever, you’re awerewolf all the time, except for the full moon when you turn back intoa human and that’s pretty much the only time you get to be a human, so yeah…the entire process… kinda sucks a lot. But hey, ya’ll a bunch of sadisticfucks who like it when I systematically torture my favorite son, so… here wego, I guess)
(NOTE: This isn’t done. I kinda got burnt out on writingit halfway through and its already fucking LONG as shit, but I really do likethe concept, so I’ll probably revisit it someday if somebody asks. Chances areI’ll use this as the base for the werewolf chapter in the sequel, but I’llprobably take it in a little different of a direction than this… I dunno we’llsee, but again to clarify, this ain’t done. So… yeah. Enjoy!)
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold everything!” Mabelexclaimed, looking between Steven and Dipper in apt disbelief. “What didyou just say?”
“I said,” Steven began, just as anxious andworried as he had been when the boys had arrived at the shack. “Dipperjust got bit by a werewolf!”
“Steven, for the last time,” Dipper interjected, rolling his eyes as he cut off Mabel’s awestruck gasp. “It wasn’t awerewolf. It was just a regular wolf.”
“Oh yeah? Then how come my spit wasn’t able to healit?” Steven asked dubiously.
“B-because…” Dipper said, glancing to the fairlysizable, still-bleeding bitemarks on his upper arm, ones that still hurt agreat deal, even despite his meager attempts to staunch the wound with hisother hand. “I… I don’t know. Maybe it was just like, a fluke orsomething.”
“But I tried to heal you three times and itnever worked!” The young Gem protested fretfully. “Plus, that ‘wolf’sure didn’t look any wolf I’ve ever seen before. It was huge and hadthese eyes that looked almost… human… It was creepy.”
“Well, whatever it was, it wasn’t a-”
“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” Mabel cutin, practically squealing with excitement as she hopped out of her seat andgrabbed her brother’s hands, not even hearing his pained gasp as she jerked hisinjured arm forward. “Dipper! Do you realize what’s happening?! You’regonna turn into a super-cool, super-buff werewolf, just like in the movies! You’re finally gonna have chest hair, and plenty of it, just like you alwayswanted! Isn’t it exciting?”
“No, because it isn’t happening,” Dipper scoffed, pulling himself away from Mabel. “Like I said, I wasn’t bitten by any 'werewolf’or anything like that, so I’m definitely not going to turn into one,ok?”
“Pfft, sounds to me like somebody’s just in denialabout all of the totally awesome werewolf powers he’s about to get,” Mabelpouted as she crossed her arms.
“Dipper, are you sure?” Steven asked, still quiteconcerned. “I mean, if it really was a werewolf, then maybe the Gems orMr. Ford could-”
“No,” Dipper staunchly refused, covering up hiswound a bit more as he turned to leave the room. “We’re not tellingany of them about this. If we do, they’ll just think I was being recklessagain. So as far as I’m concerned, none of them need to know. After all, it’snot like this is even a real problem or anything.”
“Yeah, but what if-” Steven found himself abruptlycut off as Dipper suddenly spun around again, apparently snarling as he glaredat the young Gem fiercely, his teeth bared and his hands clenched into tightfists. For a moment, all Steven and Mabel could do was exchange a glance ofsurprise at this, before both of them looked back to Dipper with shared, newfound concern. “Uh… are you… growling at me?” Steven asked, raising a confused, wary eyebrow.
Of course, upon being called out, Dipper instantly silencedhimself, regaining his composure as he looked away from the pair, clearlyembarrassed and also suddenly quite unnerved. “I, uh… I wasn’t… I-I…I gotta go!” Without sparing another word, he rushed out, leaving Stevenand Mabel behind, both of them rather disconcerted by what had just happened.
“Well, there’s no doubt about it,” Mabelconcluded, her hands on her hips as she met Steven’s worried frown evenly.“He’s totally turning into a werewolf.”
Dipper let out an uneven breath as he finished cleaning anddressing the bite wound on his arm, surprised that it still hurt just as muchas much as it did when the wolf that had attacked him and Steven in the woodsfirst bit him. As much as he didn’t think Steven and Mabel’s simultaneousconcern and excitement had any real merit, he still couldn’t deny that he was justthe slightest bit on edge after how he had actually growled at them earlier, animpulse he had never, ever had before now. Still, he knew that wasn’t anywherenear enough to actually confirm that he had indeed been bitten by a werewolf asthey thought. It wasn’t as if he didn’t believe that werewolves existed inGravity Falls, of all places; after all, he had seen Ford’s notes about them injournal 1 himself. But what he didn’t want to believe was that he had fallenvictim to one, and he especially didn’t want to believe was eventually going toturn into one himself.
Still, even if Dipper wasn’t convinced such a thing wasgoing to happen, he figured that there really wouldn’t be any way of knowinguntil the next full moon, which was several days away at best. Chances werethat by then, all of this werewolf business would be forgotten about anyway, largely since he knew it to be nothing more than just Steven and Mabel’s wildspeculation, something that usually held little weight in reality. Certainly,in a few days’ time, his bite wound would heal and be just another scar to addto the admittedly impressive collection or them he had accumulated over thecourse of the summer.
However, just as Dipper was about to head downstairs toprofess his confidence on the matter to Mabel and Steven, a very sudden, verysharp pain erupted near the base of his spine, one that enough to elicit a loudcry of agony as it only grew more and more intense. Of course, Steven and Mabelclearly heard this from the den downstairs, and, with both of them alreadyquite concerned for Dipper, they didn’t hesitate to hurry upstairs and burstinto the bathroom without any delay. They were, however, quick to stop at thedoor in unified shock at what the saw.
Dipper was in the midst of picking himself off the floor, his pained cry now replaced with shallow, exhausted breathing as he tried torecover from what he had just gone through. But what was even more alarming wasthe large, long, furry tail that now curled up behind him. “Uh…guys?” He began weakly, glancing to his new tail with apt fear. “I-Ithink this might be a problem after all…”
“No way…” Steven breathed, completely stunned asMabel hurried to help Dipper stand up. “Dipper! You have a tail!”
“Oh gee, I didn’t know that, Steven,” Dipperdeadpanned crossly, his tail flickering in annoyance. “It’s not like Ifelt it grow out of my spine or anything. Oh wait, I did. And it hurt, a ton.”
“Well if it’s any consolation, bro-bro, your tail is sosoft and so pretty!” Mabel gushed, stroking the light brown furhappily before Dipper abruptly pulled it away from her.
“Mabel, cut that out!” He exclaimed, holding hisnew appendage protectively as he blushed in embarrassment over it.
“W-well I think it’s safe to say that wolf really was awerewolf after all, huh?” Steven spoke up worriedly. “But uh… Ithought that if you were bit by one, you only transform during the full moon, like in the all the movies…”
“That’s what I thought too…” Dipper mused, frowning as he looked to his tail again. “Maybe werewolves in GravityFalls are different somehow?”
“Well I’m sure Grunkle Ford would know about all thiswerewolf biz,” Mabel suggested. “Why don’t we go ask him?”
“W-we can’t!” Dipper protested, flustered.“Like I said, I don’t want him to think I was being dumb and reckless byletting something like this happen to me. He’ll probably say I’m tooirresponsible to handle paranormal stuff anymore, and t-then he won’t let me goon investigations or anything else with him ever again! And I can’t let thathappen!”
“Seriously, Dipper?” Mabel raised an eyebrow.“That’s what you’re worried about right now? In case you haven’tnoticed, you kinda grew a tail. And chances are you’re probably gonna growpaws, and teeth, and fur, and who knows what else. And as cool I think as allthat is, your silly pride should probably come second to all that.”
“It’s not about pride!” Dipper argued, even if heknew that was exactly what it was about. “Look, we don’t need Great UncleFord’s help with this. We can figure out a cure all by ourselves.”
“Wait, we can?” Steven asked, uncertain.
“Of course we can,” Dipper assured, trying toconvince himself of this as well. “After all, how hard can curingwerewolfism be?”
“Probably about as hard as its gonna be for you to hidethis adorable tail from everyone,” Mabel smirked sardonically asshe started playfully petting it once more.
“Ok, seriously, Mabel,” Dipper scowled, yankinghis tail out of her hands once again. “Stop doing that.”
As it turned out, finding a cure for warewolfism was goingto be a lot harder than any of them could have anticipated. While Dipper wasn’ttoo keen on telling Ford about the situation, or anyone else for that matter,he did manage to slip journal 1 out of the author’s study while Mabel andSteven kept him distracted. Unfortunately, as was the case throughout manyentries across all three of the journals, Ford’s research on werewolves wasapparently incomplete, with no known cure or reversal for the condition to befound, something that Dipper apprehensively reported to Steven and Mabel asthey all congregated in the attic.
“So… there’s no way to fix this?” Steven askedwith concern as he glanced over what the journal had to say for himself.
“N-no, no, there’s gotta be something we can do,”Dipper shook his head as he paced around the attic almost frantically, his longtail dragging behind him. “There has to be some kind of cure GreatUncle Ford didn’t know about. We have to find it, no matter what!”
“Geez, bro-bro, calm down a sec,” Mabel remarkedrather casually. “So you’ll turn into a cute, fluffy werewolf every fullmoon. What’s really so bad about that?”
“Mabel, did you even read what the journal saidabout werewolves?!” Dipper asked hotly, his entire manner tense and deeplyfrightened. “Werewolves here in Gravity Falls really are different! I-it’salmost like they’re backwards or something! They transform slowly, over thecourse of several days, and then, once they’re full werewolf, they stay likethat, pretty much all the time, except for during full moons!”
“Wait…” Mabel sat up on her bed with growingfear. “So… so if we don’t find a way to reverse this…”
“Then the only time Dipper will get to be human isduring full moons…” Steven finished grimly, having just read over thesame information in the journal and reeling at its implications.
“And that’s not all…” Dipper practically muttered, ignoringthe looks of deep worry and sympathy the pair was giving him as he looked tohis feet instead. “If we can’t find a cure before I… I fully transform… then…then there won’t be any fixing this at all… I’ll be a werewolf… f-forever…”
“Oh, Dipper…” Mabel gasped softly, already on her feet andrunning over to pull him into a tight embrace. The thought that he might onlyget to be himself as opposed to a vicious, wild monster few weeks was nearlyenough to drive Dipper to the same tears that Mabel had already started toshed, but he refused to let them come, especially in front of her. So instead,he decided to put his own crippling fear and dread for now, if only to keep herat ease over what was, by all accounts, an incredibly terrifying, heartbreakingsituation.
“I-its ok,” Dipper said, taking in a deep breath as hegently pulled away from Mabel. “Like I said, we’re going to find a cure, nomatter how hard it might be. And besides,” his reassuring smile faltered a bitas he felt the tip of his tail absently curl around his ankle. “W-we still havea few days before… y-you know. That’s plenty of time to figure something out.”
“You know what? You’re right, Dipper!” Steven chimed in withnewfound enthusiasm. “After all, we’ve made it through stuff just as bad asthis before, so we’re bound to find a way through this!”
“B-but what if we don’t?”Mabel asked, still rather distraught as she looked to Dipper fretfully. “Whatif we aren’t fast enough and you… you really do…?” she trailed off, unable toeven finish the thought.
“I won’t,” Dipper assured, putting a hand on his sister’sshoulder. “I promise, we’ll-” He abruptly cut himself off with a loud, painedgasp, his hands flying to his ears, almost as if he was hearing somethingincredibly loud and he was trying to shield them from it. In reality though, itwas as though his hearing had been stolen from him entirely, replaced withnothing more than a shrill ringing that blocked out Steven and Mabel’s sharedcalls of concern.
“Dipper!” Mabel shouted, grabbing him by his shoulderstightly as he began to stumble backwards, though she didn’t let him fall. “Dipper, what’s wrong?!”
Of course, Dipper wasn’t able to hear her at all, and evenif he had heard her, he would have paid her no mind amidst unbearable burningsensation his ears were currently enduring. But that wasn’t all; a splittingpain had also emerged near the crown of his head, one that felt very similar towhat he had felt when his tail first appeared. Mabel still held him upright, with Steven rushing to help, as he a sharp scream of agony, one that almostsounded a bit like a howl, tore from his throat, one that died out just asgradually as the pain did. The pair noticed that he was visibly panting, muchlike a dog would, tongue stuck out and all as he shuddered into silence, hisclosed eyes finally opening as looked to them, clearly distressed. He noticedthat Steven was saying something to him, saw his mouth move, but all he couldhear was muffled, undiscernible mumblings, almost as if something was stillcovering his ears, even though his hands weren’t anymore.
“W-what?” Dipper asked, still shaken as he found he wasbarely even able to hear his own voice. “Steven, what did you-”
“Ohhhhh!” Mabel exclaimed in understanding, and it was loudenough for him to mostly hear it. He didn’t catch what she said next, but shedid make sure to clarify it for him as she pointed to his ears. Or at least, where they had been. As Dipper reached up to touch them, he let out a gasp ofalarm, finding that he couldn’t feel them out at all; instead, the only thinghis fingers were skimming was hair, or rather fur, short, coarse, and rough, and thankfully just the right shadeof brown to blend in with his hair, but still fur nonetheless. Frighteninglyenough, the fur seemed to spread down past where his ears used to be, all theway down to his neck, which it had covered the back of completely. And whilethere would be plenty of time for him to panic over that later, Dipper had another, much more prominent concern at the moment.
“M-my ears!” he exclaimed, distraught as he still tried tofeel them beyond the layer of fur. “What happened to-”
He cut himself off as Mabel suddenly took his hat off, looking up at the top of his head in surprise for a moment before giving him aknowing look. “You’re turning into a werewolf, dummy,” she remarked, and thistime he was able to hear her completely clearly. “What do you think happened tothem?”
“No…” Dipper gasped once more, not even needing to feel hisnew ears as they flatten themselves against his head in tune with his emotions. All the same, he rushed over to the mirror to confirm that, sure enough, thathis now wolf-like ears were now positioned at the sides of his scalp, standingupright, fur-covered, and pointed amidst the rest of his hair. Steven and Mabeljoined him over at the mirror a moment later, both of them putting a hand onhis shoulder as a sign of what little comfort they were really able to give, something that Dipper quickly shook off as he remembered his earlier resolve. “O-ok,so… that was kind of unexpected, but its fine! We still have plenty of timeleft to find a cure.”
“How can you be so sure?” Mabel asked anxiously as sheglanced between his ears and his tail. “At this rate, by the end of today youcould have a muzzle and be walking on all fours! Look,” she paused, looking tothe ground apprehensively as she tried her best to keep calm. “I know you don’twant to, but… maybe it’s time we talk to Grunkle Ford about this, or the Gems. This… doesn’t seem like the sorta thing we should be taking our chances with, especially if you could end up staying a-a werewolf for… forever…”
“Mabel, I already told you,” Dipper began, exasperated. “Wecan figure this out on our own. Besides, if there’s nothing about a curewritten in the journal, then chances are Great Uncle Ford still doesn’t knowhow to fix this.”
“But maybe he could at least help somehow?” Steven suggestedearnestly.
“We don’t need help!”Dipper protested, his ears and tail both twitching in frustration as he turnedaway bitterly.
“But Dipper, you could-” Mabel’s attempt at reasoning withher brother was cut off as he let out a low, angry growl, his shoulders hitchedand his ears pinned all the way back. She froze, startled as he snapped a glareover his shoulder at her, his eyes strangely distant and his pupils much too largeas he continued snarling, not even stopping as he turned around to face herfully. “D-Dipper?” Mabel asked nervously, her eyes wide as she took a smallstep back, one that he countered by stepping forward aggressively until he wasessentially right up in her face, his teeth still bared as he glared at herrelentlessly. “Dipper!” she shouted, more boldly this time as she forced herfear away. “Back off!”
Without any warning, she shoved him, pushing him away fromher and landing him on the ground hard. Mabel and Steven both were still onedge as they kept their distance from Dipper, who was seemingly in the midst ofreturning to his right mind after his bout of instinctual aggression. “M-Mabel?”he asked with concern as he met her still quite frightened gaze. “What just…?”he trailed off as he put the pieces of what he had just missed together tocreate a picture that filled him with both terror and regret. “Oh no…” Heslowly stood, his tail and ears drooping as he took a small, apologetic step towardshis sister. “Mabel, I’m sorry. I-I didn’t-”
“You know what? Fine,” Mabel sighed in acceptance, hurriedlybrushing her approaching tears away as she met his gaze squarely and almostcoldly. “If you don’t want any help, then that’s ok with me. I’m totally finewith not helping you at all if you’re gonna just growl at me for nothing!”
“Mabel, n-no, I-”
“You know, I bet you’ll be wishing you just let someone helpyou when you’re a wolf basically all the time!” Mabel finished as she stormedout of the attic, visibly upset and clearly not willing to listen to anything herbrother had to say. Steven hurried after her, thinking that Dipper wasn’t toofar behind, but instead he simply remained where he was, stunned and ashamed bywhat he had unknowingly done. Absently, he reached up and gently touched theside of one of his new wolfish ears, his heart sinking as he realized that thiswas only going to get worse before it got better, on all levels. The physicaltransformation would continue, and in time, he’d likely gain, among other newfeatures, sharp claws deadly teeth, both things that could do so much harm ifhe wasn’t careful. But how could he really be careful when his mental stabilityand human tendencies already seemed to be wavering into a feral, animalistic attitudethat he had no control over whatsoever? Growling at Mabel was one thing, butwhat it he actually did end up hurting her somehow, on more than just anemotional level? What if, once he turned full werewolf, he lost all sanity to awild lust for blood and, not having the slightest clue about what he was doing, actually ended up-
Dipper was quick to shake such a dark thought out of hismind. Of course he wasn’t going to end up hurting Mabel, he never would, atleast not intentionally. All he really had to do was make sure he could findthat elusive, unknown cure to his condition long before such a thing could evenhappen. However, with his transformation already steadily progressing and hishumanity already starting to fade from the inside out, he knew that findingthat cure would be a race against time if there ever was one.
(So yeah, like I said this one isn’t done but eh I capped it off at a place that would want you leaving more, which is cool. Still, I’m a huge sucker for slow transformation stories, so writing this got me back to my roots (I used to write a LOT of slow/painful transformation scenarios in my Zelda stories) So now that its done I only have like one more of these angst prompts to top off and then its time for The Return! Woo!)

The most awkward moment during a sexual experience was when: i have to kick most of them to answer this. Oscar- “uhhh.. I’ve had a lot of awkward moments.. mostly when uh.. i don’t cum, ya know? it.. bothers people a lot, makes em think I don’t like it or them.. I might’ve also accidentally bitten someones dick before, I just uh, got surprised was all, I didnt mean ta, but well, safe ta say he didn’t wanna talk ta me after that. tho that was a pretty common response..” every casanova has a ton of failures under their belt. literally lmao.
Ph- “I fucked a watermelon once.”
Sal-”i- o-oh dear.. I’d rather not go into detail, but lets just say I met someone with... a kink I didnt agree with and they just kinda.. surprised me with it.. im more careful who I sleep with now..”
Puppet- “awkward? ummmm.. I accidentally pissed once when master was fucking me, he got very upset and chained me up outside for a really long time.. I didn’t mean to, I swear! I just really had to go, and I tried telling him before but he didn’t listen.. I got a bladder infection from it and he took me to the doctor, in the old building with no door, to heal it.” this might be why puppet pisses in their sleep so often, their bladder might be a little fucked up from bad healing.(i mean, its small too, but they don’t often register when they have to piss til its too late)
22. List your kinks.(they already answered this, tho they didnt really answer in a serious fashion, but eh. some have f-lists) 21. Can/Have you ever squirted before? I dunno how Monty likes mine, ‘cause it was just painful and unpleasant..” he grimaces slightly at the memory. pretty much, oscar doesn’t wanna take anything around his own dick size, what a hypocrite. maybe ill shove a giant horse dildo in him just for funsies, make him suffer Ph- they raise a brow “all. stay away from my ass or i’ll rip your teeth out one by one.” Sal-”Oh uhh.. I-I’m not sure.. I suppose I wouldn’t really want to try taking those really big ones.. or um.. I don’t know..” he blushes and looks away, they’d prob be willing to try to take em as big as they get, tho I doubt they could handle too much. actually, if they seen the stan trex XL up close they would prob immediately be like ‘nope’. Puppet- “I can take a lot! My masters trained me to, though it did hurt sometimes.” theres a strong possibility they could take bigger than oscar. who knows. Arzu- she winks “I’ll let ya know when I find out.” size queen over here will try to take anything, but prob hasnt taken anything more than 7-8 inches? for now anyways
7. Who do you fantasize about when you’re alone? Oscar- “heh well uh, considerin my sexuality, it’s hard for me to get off to people in general a lot of the time, mostly its based on feelings, but uh, Monty has a tendency to pop into my head a lot of the time.” Sal-”oh jeez.. I suppose I think about um.. well, not really specific people in general, just uh.. types(he means like werewolves, the fuckin furry) and since I’ve started dating Leo.. well um.. him too.” they look down with an embarrassed smile. Ph- they shrug “whoevers on my mind. sometimes it’ll be strangers i’ve passed by.” Puppet- i dont think i’ve had puppet jack off alone yet since theyve been with tony and they avoided it before bcuz theyd get in trouble, so i suppose they cant answer this. i think they just focus on the feeling instead of an actual person/face, tho im sure theyd prob think about tony sometimes since theyre getting attached to him. 46. Spanking: turn on or turn off? Oscar- he considers this, raising a brow in thought “uhhh.. i guess turn on? or.. kinda. i dont really like hurting others, so itd have to be only with someone who begs to get spanked, as long as theyre enjoyin it, its hot. oh and i guess i dont mind getting spanked, it can be good.” Sal-”turn on.” Ph- “if its me doing the spanking, turn on.” Puppet- they toy with their shirt, thinking “umm.. I don’t know.” 24. What was your first kinky sexual experience? Oscar-”kinky? so somethin ‘out of the ordinary’? hm, I think I was a teen still, I uh, well, they were bleedin- so ya know, yeah..” he ate a bloody puss if its not clear enough. Sal-”I um, I had a girlfriend in highschool who was into.. ‘discipline’ and um- face slapping, s-so that..” Ph and puppet are exempt from this question since they were very young when it happened and i dont really wanna think about it. 31. Whats the fastest way to make you horny? Oscar-he shrugs “depends on my mood, but I guess maybe uh, touching themself through their clothes and begging me to touch them?” Sal- sal wouldnt answer this but, grabbing them from behind, rubbing their crotch and breathing/growling against their neck is a sure fire way, along with possible dirty talk. Ph-”punch me.” *note: outcome has 50/50 chance of horny or pissed off. or both. Puppet- “I like it when they say things to me quietly. a-and um like, when they arent really trying to touch me?” they mean for instance, asking them if they want to sit in your lap, lightly petting them and avoiding their crotch, pretty much just teasing. theyre used to fast and being used for someone elses pleasure, so anything with the focus on theirs is a good go-to.

Revealing Secrets - Theo Raeken
Request: Request! Theo x Reader where they dating and someone kidnap reader and hurts her, butt Theo and the Scott's pack come to save her, butt the biggest thing is that reader don't know anything of that supernatural world before that.
Summary: Theo ((Y/N)’s boyfriend) and the pack save (Y/N) from her kidnappers, but also reveal their secrets in the process.
Black. That’s all I can see due to the mask covering my eyes. It swallows me up as I sit on the cold ground in an unfamiliar setting. All I can hear is a subtle white noise and the occasional footsteps. I’ve been here for what feels like forever, but in reality may only be a couple of days. So far, I’ve spoken to two mysterious people. They sounded around my age and slightly familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Every so often, someone would come in and put a plate down in front of me, telling me to eat. Speaking of which, footsteps sounded, coming closer and closer until there was something thrown in front of me.
“Food.” The voice mumbled before pacing around me, seemingly angry. I grab the food and begin to eat, starving. The person kept pacing before mumbling once again. “Where are they?!” At that moment, a loud metal bang is heard from not too far off. I jump, not knowing if its someone here to help me, or someone that may hurt me. Whether it be a friend or enemy of my kidnappers. The person next to me suddenly ran out of the room and I heard nothing for a few seconds before suddenly the sound of yelling and what I expect to be people being hurt. I feel my heart beat fast and I begin to breathe faster. Was this it? Was this the end? I try to shuffle myself around so that my zip tied arms were in front of me instead of behind. This was the only chance I was going to get to escape. I feel around for my shoelaces and untie them. I then slip one through the inside of the zip tie and tie it with the other shoelace. I then begin to move my legs fast and i can smell the burning of the plastic. Slowly but surely, the zip tie breaks and I rip off the mask. I throw my hands up trying to hide myself from the light which seemed vividly intense due to having a mask on for the last few days. I look around the room and see the closed door, and suddenly footsteps begin to come closer. I quickly grab a pipe laying by the door and I stand before it. I lift my arms and as the door opens and the figure walks in I scream and strike. But, the person grabs the pipe in his hand, and its only then that I realise who it is.
“Theo?” I say in disbelief. I drop the pipe and embrace him, beginning to cry. “What are you doing here?!” I pull back.
“I’m here to save you.” He chuckles, pulling a cliche heroic face, both of us knowing full well that he’s usually not the person that goes out of his way to help others.
“But how? With who? These people are dangerous, how di-” Theo cut me off with a kiss.
“Listen, you’re about to become extremely confused, but it’s for the best you know. Now, no questions until you’re safe!” He says as he pulls me out the room, keeping me securely behind him. We stop suddenly before quickly running out and I see Scott and the others covered in blood, fighting people. I did a double take and took in a sharp breath when I saw the features on my friends that have never been there before. Claws, fur, fangs?
“W-What are they?”
“I said no more questions until you’re safe, (Y/N)!” Theo shushed me as he dragged me behind him. I try to pull back, scared, but Theo’s grip tightens and I cry out but its muffled by the sound of violence taking place behind us.
Finally, we were out. I viciously pulled my arm back causing Theo to stumble and look back confused. I look down at my already bruising wrist and back up at Theo, who appears at a loss for words.
“I want answers. Now.” I snap. Theo looks around for a few seconds, deep in thought. “Theo! we’re supposed to be able to trust each other. That’s what boyfriends and girlfriends do! If you can’t trust me, then what are we doing this for?” I cry aloud. The last few days had taken a toll on me and I was feeling overly emotional and nauseous.
“Ok, ok! Just don’t freak out.” He whispers as he puts his hands in front of me and they slowly transform into claws. I gasp, and look at him, only to see fangs and brightly lit eyes. I take a few steps back in shock. “I knew you’d be disgusted.” He hangs his head down low and I sigh, stepping closer after regaining my thoughts.
“I’m not disgusted. It’s just gonna take me a while to get used to the idea that I’m dating a furry.” I giggle.
“Oh, ha, ha.” He smirks as his features go back to normal.
“No, I’m serious. Maybe after a few drinks though.” As Theo encases me in a hug the rest of the pack walk out. “So you mean to tell me... all of you guys are what, werewolves?”
“Not entirely. We have a lot to teach you.” Scott replies, puffed.
“So, I’m gonna be the only human.”
“No, Stiles is human.”
“Oh, that makes a difference.” I chuckle. I get into Theo’s car and the whole trip home I continue to ask him questions about random werewolf things. What his senses are like, if he can talk to dogs, etc, etc.

Chapter 5- The Forgotten
Title: The Forgotten
Author: Nam
Genre: Angst, Smut, Fluff
Au: Werewolf
Warmth spread through my unconsciousness.
What happened?
“Oh-Oh, she’s not dead,” I hear someone cheer.
Oh…yeah… Namjoon was telling me that I’m a werewolf hybrid and then I fainted. Too much information at once. Things were too strange to not believe him. I felt a rumble underneath me-must have been the bed I was on. It was really soft.
“Mom, should Hobi-hyung be underneath Y/N like that?”
“Well, it’s the only way I can wake her up.”
Underneath…me?
Warning bells sounded off in my head, and my eyes flew wide open. Only to see a giant wolf face.
Jungkook smiled, “Y/N! You’re okay!”
“Hobi, you might want to…”
I scream, scrambling off the belly of the monster. Then I noticed that the air smelled eerily like wet dog. Looking around, I saw that i was not surrounded by men ( besides Jungkook) but 7 12-foot tall werewolves.
My scream grew even louder as I rushed out of the house.
That did not go well.
Halfway toward my house, I paused to catch my breath. I did not need the neighborhood to think I was a crazy teen running from nothing. I was already the the friendless teen.
I sat on the curb, holding my head between my legs. Being blasted with new information then actually seeing it was enough for me. I could piece the rest together. Dad had been a werewolf and Mom had been human, so that makes me a wolf-human? But werewolves are already shape-shifting humans right?
I started walking again. Walking gives me time to collect my thoughts. I remember something Namjoon said before I passed out:
“Your father did not listen to our warning and married your mother, who was indeed another species of supernatural….”
So does that mean I’m not human at all? Or am I one-fourth human since werewolves are half-human? Regardless I am a hybrid. I wish I had parents to explain this to me, but sadly they died before they could. Well not died, but murdered the same way my grandparents were. But there was one more family member who knew everything.
Aunt Noel. She was still alive and walking. She was the only member alive, and the only member who somehow hated me. Neither her husband nor her spoiled children. But she was the only person I could talk to. I will just have to call her when I get home-if she answers.
I found myself, practically running to the house. This was a chance to finally know another piece about myself and to connect with Noel.
Why hadn’t she told me earlier? She had obviously known about this; she wrote a freaking book based on her “adventures.” Why hadn’t she told me the last time she saw me? Sure, the last time I saw her was in a shopping mall–buying school supplies.
“Y/N, what are you doing here?” I turn around to see my aunt and my cousins. They were each holding a three bags in a hand.
“Buying supplies.”
Jinhyun, the daughter my age, snorts, “With what money?”
Jinyoung, the son also my age, snarks, , “ The money she doesn’t have. “
I sigh. I didn’t have time for either of them. The sale is was going to end in one hour and I was only on pens and pencils.
They all laugh as if it were the funniest thing ever. I roll my eyes and try to move to the notebook section. My eyes were on the one with the basket full of puppies.
Noel blocked my advance, “ It’s actually nice that I met you here. I don’t need to go to that bastardly house. Who knows what you have been doing. You might even be waiting for a man here.”
I could just slap her if it wasn’t for the fact that a lady was trying to take my notebook.
“What do you want?”
“ I just wanted to tell you about something I forgot. Your father wanted me to give you a letter.”
I wait for her to give it to me. “And where is it?”
“Oh, it’s in his room, “ She takes a moment to think, “In a shoebox. Good luck finding it. “ She, Jinyoung, and Jihyun walk out the store. However, Taehyun stays behind. She was the quietest of her siblings and takes pity on me whenever they pulled a prank.
I ignore her and continue to sift through notebooks–the puppy basket was gone. I felt someone move behind me. It was her.
“I saw you looking at this while Mom was talking and I grabbed it before that lady did,” she hands the puppy basket notebook to me.
I eagerly take it, “Thank you. “
She stares at me before saying, “ Mom won’t tell you this but… You’re really special to our family. If you ever want to know what I mean, I can… I can help you. “ And with that, she hurriedly catches up with her mom and siblings.
I had never spoken to her or my aunt since then. I was too afraid of learning I was adopted or something. But now, I desperately needed answers. I was either getting them from Aunt Noel or Taehyun.
Opening the door to my house, the hairs on my neck stood up. Something had changed. Did someone come fix the air conditioner? It had been broken and the house had been a desert. Usually they left a note, but the guy they sent must have been lazy.
Even so, I grabbed the bat I keep near the door and turn on the lights. I walked towards the kitchen, since it’s the place thieves steal from first. Nothing. Until I rounded the island. There was a huge glob of my peanut butter, bread, and bananas on the floor. I stared at the mess for a long time. That was my favorite peanut butter, for one, and they didn’t bother to clean up the mess. How rude.
Thunk! Thunk!
“Oh….hell…”
Spinning around, I see a shadow run up the stairs. Every sense in me told me to not run up the stairs, but curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back. I tiptoed up the stairs making sure not to step on creaks. It was dark in the hallway but the light to my parents room was on. I lifted my bat ready to swing if I needed to. Steadily toeing my way though, I listened for the tell-tale noises of an intruder. The room was silent as it normally is. I had never stepped into this room before now; I abandoned this room when my parents died. I didn’t need the memories.
I let my bat drop loosely, and sighed. Maybe it had been my imagination. Turning around to walk out, I banged my head on a wall. A furry wall. A breathy growling furry wall.
I squeaked.
The wolf launched its snarling mouth at me, but I used the bat to keep it open while I ran away. Three stairs down, I heard the bat snap. It was metal, and the wolf had easily broken it. With that thought, I ducked inside the storage closet. I thought about all the ways Teen Wolf and Twilight had written about wolves.
Smell. He probably has a scent of me. I knew there was a bottle of Bleach on the upper shelf. Maybe if i drowned my body in it, I could mask my scent. I reach up for the bottle, unscrewing it, and, holding my breath, doused myself in the foul smelling stuff.
Sound. I had to be as still as not to cause a single sound. How do I do that? I don’t know, but this is life or death and I wanted life.
Sight. More than likely the guy could see in the dark, so if he somehow opened the door, I was screwed.
Tough skin- No knives could help me. Not even silver. I would have been dead a long time ago.
I had to sit quietly. However long that took.
Two hours had passed according to the little clock on the wall, and the wolf had not noticed me yet. He hadn’t left–I could hear him in the kitchen. Probably eating more of my peanut butter.
I could not be a sitting duck any longer. If I only I had a phone, then I could contact Taehyung or Aunt Noel if it needed be. But sadly, I was too stubborn ( and lazy ) to go out and buy a phone. I always used the house phone. I didn’t have friends to call anyway. Plus if I used it, the beast in the kitchen would hear my voice amid his munching.
Wait…. Could I use the mind-talking Jin and Jimin used? Only one way to find out.
Hello…?
Well, I didn’t expect it to work. I don’t have any idea of how to work this. Maybe I don’t even have the stupid thing. Regardless, I tried again.
Jin-oppa! Can you hear me?
Nothing again. What had Jin said? That you have to be in close proximity. Well, I totally couldn’t get close. But what if I pictured Jin or any of the boys in my head? I took a deep breath and focused on any boy. Dark brown hair with a deep tan… Taehyung.
I exhaled. Taehyung?
There was a something that sounded like television static then it connected
Y/N? What’s wrong? How are you doing this?
Don’t worry about that. Is anyone else listening?
Yes. The other guys.
Well… I am kind of stuck in a situation.
What?
There’s sort of a man-eating werewolf in my kitchen eating my peanut butter.
The connection was cut short. Only because the door of the closet flew open. A man’s hands grabbed me by the collar. I squeaked.
“Did you think you could hide forever? I smelled you before you poured the bleach on you. I just wanted to tease you,” Wolf-man growled into my ear. “By the way, you have great taste in peanut butter.”
I kicked him in the place where it hurts the most. He was momentarily shocked but that’s all I needed to wiggle out of his arms and run. I was halfway down the driveway when Wolf-man came bounding after me. He springs up, his teeth bared, but I dive to the side. I threw a stick at him… It didn’t work. Miffed, Wolf-man roars and charges. I would have been killed if it wasn’t for another wolf crashing into Wolf-man, knocking him through the doorway.
“My house!”
That’s the least of your problems right now Y/N.
It was Namjoon’s voice-thought. Behind me, I hear six other howls. They had come for me… Taehyung had listened… They had listened…
A midnight blue wolf with scarlet eyes pushes against me with his snout. It’s best if you go to our house. It was Yoongi.
I nod. I could only guess what was going to happen to mine. A deep chestnut wolf with the same colored eyes lets me get on top of him. It’s ok. I will try and salvage some of your things. Jin.
But for now, let’s get you to safety.

forgot if i already talked about it but i guess i honestly didnt like wolf children/boy and the beast that much lol and i think i finally figured out why
ok so ill have my original post and short convo i had with this one guy and then write about my feelings after those two that provide some context.
ok real quick so wolf children and the boy and the beast are both from award winning anime director mamoru hosoda!
wolf children has a single mother with 2 kids who are werewolves/shifters since they can change whenever they want. she’s a widow because her husband was walking around the city in wolf form, scared ppl, and got killed by animal control in tokyo. she and her kids move out to the rural boonies on a small homestead where she farms and stuff so that her kids can have space to be their wolf forms and run around without fear.
the boy and the beast has a human child fall into the hidden magical parallel furry world and get raised by this beast/bear furry? i...forget what his adoptive dad’s species is lol, sorry its been a long time since ive seen the movie.
spoilers for the ending but. here.
wolf children - yuki, the daughter, decides to stay in the human world with her mom and go to high school. ame, the son, decides to live his life as a furry/wolf boy protecting the forests.
boy and the beast - adoptive father sacrifices himself for protag, fuses spirits/hearts/whatever with protag so that they’re not really separated even in death, then the protag and dad defeat the antagonist and the protag decides to stay in the human world with his human girlfriend.
soooo. yeah. the movie ends with the families splitting up and the two cultures of mundane humans and magical creatures separating forever.
(og post) original post from my kitsu:
“ok, so like after watching wolf children tonight, im left with a bunch of questions and, idk maybe i dont understand the ending, but like. what. i also have a copy of the boy and the beast and watched it a while go. and like. i feel like, out of his two movies, they were overall very good. however, the endings always leave me with a ton of questions and mixed feelings? is mamoru hosoda just going to be “that guy” for me? you know, “that guy.” like, he’s an ok dude but you have mixed feelings about him? is it still worth watching his other movies, the girl who leapt through time and summer wars, at this rate? idk???? edit: …. i realized i also borrowed mirai from the library, am i going to watch the whole thing and then be like. what.“
response to this one guy, pseudonym:
I didn’t like wolf children and while I overall enjoyed the boy and the beast I did feel it was lacking something. Give summer wars a go though as in my opinion it’s easily his best film, that said I haven’t seen Mirai.
my responses:
“ that’s interesting. hmm im trying to figure out what i didn’t like about his endings for these two movies and i think it might be the whole separation thing? but the weird thing was that i didn’t mind the family separation thing in maquia, another family drama oriented anime? so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ????? what about you?”
pseudomym:
“I haven’t seen Maquia. It’s been a while since I watched either film but I just remember Boy and the beast feeling generally a little uninspired and wolf children feeling hollow having nothing going on but cuteness and idealization of the mother character that I couldn’t get behind. It also fell into the annoying and well worn trap of insisting the daughter come to terms with her wolf side as necesary but the boy’s arc is to go reject his humanity and abandon his family to live in the woods as a young teen and the mother learning to accept his really stupid decision. Fuck that, thats a shtty life decision and it should be treated accordingly.”
my response:
i agree with some points! like, i get that the mother was a hardworking single mother who needed to give her kids some more freedom and also isolation in life to hide the whole werewolf secret, but when ame was just like “imma drop out of elementary school,” and hana was ok with it, i was just staring at the screen like “no, why are you letting him do this?” i feel like my issue with the boy and the beast was that ren decided that “humans and monsters need to live in their own world,” and left forever when i was thinking “no man, you can have both, work in the human world on weekdays and just go back to the monster world on weekends or something, you have basically nothing in the human world but this random girl you met and whatever the japanese version of the GED is.”
so. after thinking about it. literally for a few years. i realized. the reason i don’t like these movies, or at least their endings, since the premises sounds interesting enough for me to try them. is probably because im projecting my own weirdo complex identity issues on them. (own ramble lol) (other ramble on kitsu) (transracial tag on main) (racial imposter syndrome with NPR’s Code Switch) (all mixed up what do we call people of multiple backgrounds, also on NPR’s Code Switch)
so. as you can hopefully see. i. am currently in a pretty big identity/culture crisis. and. i think that the endings of these movies rubbed me the wrong way because their solution was to choose one over the other. like. there’s no room to try to make it work, to try and have a balance between the two worlds.
as mentioned above, in wolf children, why the heck not try to make it work? be a furry forest protector and still visit your mom because you’re in the same area. in fact, ame is literally the stupidest kid/literal elementary school drop out because, instead of trying to help the forest with actual laws and such because bc, its sad but let’s be real, capitalism and bulldozers can affect the forest more than one kid trying to larp as the big bad wolf of the forest. and you know how ame could’ve tried to protect the forest in a more substantial way? literally just. finding a balance between the human and magical werewolf/animal world and becoming a botanist/biologist/ecologist/forest ranger. someone who can bring some actual solutions to fixing issues in the forest with science. instead of like. “feeling the forest vibes” or whatever the heck was even happening there.
and then also as mentioned in the boy and the beast, protag-kun leaves behind all his childhood friends and the ppl who helped his adoptive dad raise him, practically his adoptive aunts and uncles, behind for a random girl he met, his birth dad and step family, and whatever a japanese GED is. like. again, why not try to make it work? have two cultures????
you dont have to choose one over the other!!
i’m sure that mamoru hosoda didn’t mean to be like. idk. insensitive to people of mixed races/cultures, etc., esp. since japan is not a very racially/culturally diverse place so he probably didn’t even have this mindset when making these movies, but the message in the movies’ endings that you have to pick one culture, country/world, family, etc., over the other because they’re just too incompatible is just. absolute bullshit. do i care that they’re werewolf and magic furry world culture? no, i think you can and should still try dude.
like. i have. a bunch of intersectional race/culture/adoption issues, but am i going to try to have some balance and learn about all of them and live with them? yeah????? do you realize how stupid it is to me to think about like. having to pick between cultures???? its just like. to me, picking one over the other would be like forcing me to stay with white americans or just like. go back to china. like the boy and the beast protag did or someshit????? like???? i can try to balance them??? tisn’t that the whole point of like. chinese american/ immigrant created mixed culture/experiences, esp. for ppl like me who are transracially adopted and have complex life experiences???? wtf??????
like. i would love to learn more about my birth country and all but im not going to be an absolute dumbass like the boy and beast protag and move to another world/country just because “its where i’m from” or “i have biological family there.” i cant speak the language, i’d leave all my friends and family oceans away, how the heck would i even live??
anyways TL;DR - as a person with some complex feelings about identity, and culture, and a person greatly interested in intersectionality due to my lived experiences, mamoru hosoda’s movies and their bullshit anti-intersectionality messages, again most likely unintentional but my brain read it as this, make me not like his movies.
