the dog eared and tattered book thrown across the room. its finished. nigh twenty times over. she could almost recite the book from fucking memory. but it is all she has, her fathers snores filtering through from the other room. elain yet again at her boyfriends. she’s glad elain has graysen, even if she isn’t the biggest fan of the family. too religious, too obsessed with purity; but it makes elain happy. and that’s all she wants for her.
feyre isn’t here. again.
she almost wishes she cared as little as she acts. life would be so much easier if she just… cared less. about spiting their dead mother, resenting their useless father, protecting elains simple happiness’, and right now? feyre’s whereabouts.
the ultimate goal is feyre far away from here. where people remember the child their mother named, not the sister who named herself. out of spite refuse the girl her name and pronouns. feyre belongs somewhere else, somewhere bigger and better.
it’s almost four am as she pulls a robe on over the oversized tshirt she’d put on as a nightgown, tightened the tie around it, bare feet padding from the bedroom to the front porch. their father won’t wake even as the door lets out its distinctive shriek. the screen door a responding creak. he drank his weight in beers tonight, stumbling home on the arm of his friends who’d plied him with the cheap alcohol. was it pity? or making fun of him? he never seemed to care. so nesta tried to do the same.
the sun hasn’t even thought of coming up yet, the soft critch of crickets, the yowl of cicadas. summer time is an alright time to be awake at all hours. just as she’s relinquishing herself to that final bit of peace…
a strange car pulls up, it looks expensive, but she’s too far to see the make or model. it sounds expensive because it seems to purr instead of croak like the trucks the locals drive. but the figure that steps out? all legs and blonde curls? that she knows exactly who it is.
she’s stomping off the porch before she can think, her arms crossed over her chest as she meets feyre halfway down the drive, the car having pulled away already. nesta is practically spitting mad, her sister dressed in a slip of shiny fabric barely big enough to cover the bits that decency demanded. her heels tall enough that she towered over nesta. her face painted far heavier than she ever did on her own at home.
‘ what hour do you fucking call this? dressed like that? delivered home by a car like that? what kind of reckless irresponsibility is this? im not raising your fucking kid which is damn well where this path is headed! ‘
the anger is clear on her face, but there, beneath it, and the accidental gender confirmation… there is concern. wrapped in bitterness, disguised in wrath. but it’s there. that craving for feyre to have better than the fate of half the girls in their highschool class.
nesta && feyre // @nightdomina

This season has been a bit of a mess, but like wild comebacks in the third is a bit of an avs staple, but like they also tend to lose leads on the second (or at the last second). They enjoy making things difficult
And oh bud disliking teams because of bad vibes is not only understandable but a time honored tradition. Also yeah I totally get disliking the preds, the panthers too since they just beat the avs and not even ratthew's funnyman nature can make me be chill about it. Oh you know who also sucks? the golden knights, god I hate them
I've noticed that!!! If the Avs are having a very quiet first 2 periods, I feel like you just HAVE to expect their 3rd period will be nuts. Really wish they'd won though SOB
OH MAN. I dislike the Golden Knights because they're one of the Kraken's big rivals but i would LOVE to hear more about why you hate them so.

Alastor’s little Nightmares:
So I was scrolling through YouTube when I came across a small but very interesting video:
youtube
It’s an edit video of Alastor and the song used is “Nightmares Never End” by JT music, which is a fan song for Little Nightmares 2.
So this got me to thinking and my brain plotting: what if Alastor was a child of Nowhere that never crossed the threshold fully? I’m here to explain why this could be an interesting topic to explore and how it could fit with Alastor in a crossover fanfiction or alternate universe.
(Spoilers ahead for Little Nightmares 1, 2 and The Sounds of Nightmares. I will also be using some fan theories to help support this.)
The Nowhere is described by Noone in the Sounds of Nightmares to be a place that “is…and isn’t”, a place existing in its own realm that manifests from the nightmares of young children. But not just any child will be targeted by the Nowhere. These kids are often mistreated and taken advantage of by adults in the waking world in some way, shape or form. Thus the Nowhere will slowly and surely lure these fearful and traumatized kids into a nightmarish cycle fed by the fear and trauma they experienced within the realm itself.
In an analysis video about Nowhere, it is theorized that the children are lacking in one or more categories of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. I recommend you go and watch it (link down below), but long story short, one or more of these needs are not being met and these kids escape to this realm which seems to meet those needs, only for them to be twisted overtime.

In regards to Alastor, if we use the time period he grew up in (southern America in the early 1900s), who he was born to (a white father and Creolan mother) and the headcanon of an abusive father, we can paint a clear picture as to how Alastor may have been a target of Nowhere at some during his childhood years.
He would have appeared in many places in Nowhere, from the Pale City to perhaps even the Maw, being spirited away. Despite how terrifying the world was, there was something about it that kept luring him in as it had with many children before and after.
But when it came time to cross the Threshold, he refused. For one simple reason. His mother. His rock and emotional anchor in his rather tumultuous and lonely childhood. He couldn’t leave her behind, and resisted the Ferryman, closing that door behind him.
As an adult and even in his time in Hell, he cannot fully recall his experiences in Nowhere, only that he had extremely vivid nightmares as a young boy. But there is always a nagging in the back of his mind and odd visions of ever seeing eyes that bring forth memories he cannot immediately recall.
Some of my headcanons regarding who Alastor was in the Nowhere:
Tumblr media
1) He went by Lie while in Nowhere.
2) His urge for flesh later in life came from his experiences in the Maw.
3) Lie was one of the “winners” in Nowhere (similar to Mono, Six and Low), manifesting in the ability to shadow walk. This ability would resurface after he died and went to Hell.

No more fumbo angst jt makes my tummy hurt ummm. Fatso calls Jumbo "gumdrop" and "princess" and "big mama" and "sugar plum" but he's got that THICK deep southern drawl so he says it like "shugurr plum" and jumbo calls fatso "big papa" (she cringed at first and then it got funny and then it got literal) "pumpkin" but she pronounces it as "pumkin'" bc it's cuter to her and also post-transition Jumbo sounds like Jessica rabbit did I ever mention that. Anyways they are literally THE couple of all time or something

In Memoriam
Tumblr media
My highly unique and last surviving uncle passed away yesterday, July 18, 2024. Charles ("Charlie" to many) was six months shy of his 102nd birthday in December. For his 100th birthday in 2022, I wrote him a poem. The photos below comprised the front and back of a card designed by JT, for which I recorded a 90-second .mp3 of me reciting the printed verse, uploading it to a tiny disk attached inside the card. The photos above are Charles with his Gretsch "New Yorker" in 1956, and then with the "Kat330" cigar box guitar JT made for my birthday in 2015.
The background music behind my recitation is from a lovely day in 2011 spent with my uncle on the grounds of the restored West Baden Springs Hotel resort in southern Indiana. We stumbled upon a stone domed "chapel" (probably an empty gardening shed) with phenomenal acoustics. Instinctively I began singing "Amazing Grace," and then I began the round "O, How Lovely Is the Evening" after Charles had joined in humming harmony on the hymn. When we were back home that day, I found out JT had surreptitiously recorded our private moment of joy in song, and that "Amazing Grace" recording was ideal to set behind this tribute poem.
Hymn to Him
Back in nineteen twenty and two Upon the 13th day December, There was born a blessèd man This day we honor and remember.
Born as Charles Henry Boonshot, Sometimes shortened to Charlie B., His name passed down by dad, the Sr. His mother's known as Anna Marie.
A farmboy raised in Indiana, And I might also make a note he Always lived in Martin County Near or in the town, Loogootee.
His sister and my mother, Margaret, His elder 18 months and plus, Did dearly love her baby brother Who is, as well, beloved by us!
He thrived upon the family farm Amid the usual barnyard cluster -- Chickens, pigs, a horse, a cow -- And trusty dog by name of Buster.
The Boonshot family loved to sing With Charlie's purest tenor tone Lifting high their gospel hymns In lovely harmonies home-grown.
He let his singing speak for him, Remained a quiet, gentle man, But never were his words more clear Than when he had guitar in hand.
And now my unc of so few words Arriving at a major milestone, Hears us praise in many words: The light a 100 years he's shone!

Do you have any headcanon voices for your older versions of the Psychonauts cast?
now that you mention it…
I think Raz’s voice never got that deep. He still sounds like a bat, just a bigger one, another trait that he expected to be different (he totally thought he’d have gains like Rambo by 20). He uses this to his advantage, tricking people into thinking he’s a child or a lady over the phone. Never abuses this ability.
Lili’s voice got somewhat deeper but it’s still full of sarcasm and superiority. It’s even a little screechy at times, kinda like Mackenzie Zales from MPGIS.
Bobby got some gruff to his voice and the lisp went away but sometimes he goes back to sounding like a strangled goose when he’s freaking out.
Dogen sounds like Johnathan Davis
JTs accent smoothed like whiskey. He’s become a southern gent. Not too rough, not too soft. Doesn’t say as many of the cliche cowboy stuff as he used to, well rather, his comments are more clever.
Nils probably sounds a little like Dante (DMC3 version), and says less grating stuff because he’s grown out of it.
Elka probably sounds like Elle Woods. Punctuation and poise and all that because she’s professional
Kitty has an intentional smoothness to hers, half the time with a bite of insincerity. A little like ORen Ishii. I know, kitty has been observed as possibly Asian and Lucy Liu is Asian, but that’s not why I figure that. I can’t think of anyone else with a voice like that.
Frankie’s voice is oddly deep, which she tries to elevate to seem more effeminate. It’s kinda cute tho. She’s like Raz with the ability to fool people with voice acting.
Norma’s is mostly the same, except refined to command the attention of a room. She’s still improving
It’s fun to think about these things lol
