IMO - the problem isn't strictly autotune, it's overly processing songs. It's a Pdogg special. But also a K-pop thing more broadly. I think it does a particular disservice to JM's voice because of his range and tone. He doesn't need to compete with all that. You can hear him better when he's in the dance practice.

I am terrible at identifying autotune despite like... Audio processing being my job for a long time. 😂

I don't really mind when it's used as long as it's not phasing and distorting the voice. That said, I played Muse and then Blue and Grey came on after and I have to admit, I did really miss the vulnerability of Jimin's voice and the production being raw and human, you know? I've always said Jimin's bright hopeful counter tenor and Tae's soulful pensive baritone are used so beautifully in group songs, drawing out new meaning with their placement in the song. And for me, it's because both of them have raw voices. I need that in my music.

Sidenote: To clarify, JKs vocals are spotless and whilst that might be off-putting considering what I said here, he is a master at revealing emotion through his vocal choices. I have never heard anyone with the ability to reveal his soul and heart like JK can whilst never losing his vocals and we don't really talk enough about that aspect of his talent. His version of Falling makes me weep every time.

So yes, I do think it's quite produced, including smoothing out of vocals, but that's maybe what Jimin wanted? I'd swap production for a little imperfection any day though!

oh seeing mj cling to jm’s arm made me weep a little ngl. Every time that video of them arriving from paris comes up on the tl i get emo bc winter was so damn clingy to her unnie😭 i missed seeing her openly lean onto her like that and today voila, the air was just perfect and we got a full course meal, like honestly the couple vibes of them walking to the car are unmatched and cannot be recreated, their smiles were so genuine 🥰 also love how much of a Prince Charming jm is, the way she accommodates her bbg so she feels pampered and appreciated just makes me scream bc they deserve each other so bad and i am happy they are together in this lifetime

them linking arms was my favourite thing about their physical dynamic – jm always used to offer her arm, opening it up a bit so mj could loop hers through it. they used to do it often, especially in airports, but now they just don't do it much. so i'm so happy we got to see it again last night!

they were so 꽁냥꽁냥 (playful and affectionate) last night, i'm really happy haha. i think no matter what is said about them, whether people think they do too much or not enough, their actions and words to and about the other would always be telling of how genuinely they like and care for each other

idk if you've read that fic but i just remembered it because it's the only vmk fic i've read (solely bc it was highest rated vmk fic on ao3) but it was the one where tae was sent in as an undercover cop to dismantle jk's mafia empire and jm was like jk's mistress and all three of them fuck eo then fall in love but all i remember thinking while reading that fic is "why the hell is the 18 y.o kid (jungkook) the one topping them both during sex" although i think tae topped him at some point in the fic, but still jungkook as a full-time sub/occasional service top makes more sense to me

Red Hands

It was Fall.

Smoke rose from a squat birch hut that was dug half into the slope of a leaf-littered hill.

Inside was a hushed voice muttering of the cold and of sad little no-one’s.

A child’s bones were there, wrapped in a swan’s wings and tucked into a nest of sticks.

I heard a woman weeping, her deep sobs answered by a pained voice, dark and coarse, whose wet rasp sounded like dull steel scraped over bone.

In the faint amber radiance of the dying sun, I pressed my ear lightly to the chinking and listened in the chill.

The thing croaked and hissed of things hidden, and, mesmerized, the woman swooned.

It spoke in kennings of the ancient ways, and of the faint life that lives in death.

The wretched wight revealed to her the dim paths that lead into Shadow, prescribing offerings and signs as it instructed her in the opening of the ways.

As the setting sun kissed the horizon, the cottage fell silent, and the mourning woman ground something slowly with a mortar and pestle.

Then, she hummed a sad tune to her strange god, her dead offspring, and I, her lurking watcher.

It was then that I left her to suffer alone in that place the grim tasks of the wight.

I padded away like a wolf. And though I parted as night from the dawn, I left her all the coin in my purse and the haunch of a deer whose blood inexplicably yet stains my hands.

I have never returned to those woods where I came upon the woman and the infant’s remains.

Many years have passed since then, and I am too old and frail to hunt. As you can see, time has gnarled my joints and drawn the color from my beard. But, I have never forgotten what I learned there, in the red dusk of yesterday, and a harsh voice continues to utter black secrets in the darkness of my dreams.
