Yorozu's fate is beyond sad. She's tied to a character who has been almost entirely utilized as a plot device, has her entire narrative purpose be to die to make Sukuna stronger, and can't even have any of her accomplishments mean anything. Oh, she's effectively a super-charged magical blacksmith? Yorozu figured out how to optimize her Cursed Technique? She defeated an fearsome foes in her era? No way, Yorozu made a Cursed Tool in her dying moments that she asked Sukuna to think of as her and take care with?
Pfft, how silly. Sukuna has more Cursed Energy and power than her, so what can her rinky-dinky armor do? Who cares if she optimized her Technique--Sukuna already adapted to it with his stolen Technique that seems to change in every appearance! And those foes she defeated? Sukuna defeated more fearsome ones, you know. He might have even had a connection to Uro, but not like he cares! And it's not like that Cursed Tool is going to amount to anything other than a Get-Out-Of-Trial-Free Card, anyways.
Oh, also, her love wasn't just unrequited, but actively abhorred, and the target of her affections would proceed to shit-talk her repeatedly after her death. Maybe that's not too important, because she was really only meant to pop a question and then die, so Megumi would be sad that his tool of a sister died, and so Sukuna could have something philosophical to lecture his opponents on.
...All salt aside, it's just sad.

Shit, today Megs' "it's our fault" line to Yuji in ch 143 is much more than a show of support. Even if Sukuna hadn't used DE, Shibuya would have been devastated because of Mahoraga and Sukuna. They sliced up buildings, destroyed concrete, shattered glass. I can't even imagine Megumi's guilt when he saw all the destruction caused because of his, because he released Mahoraga for Sukuna to play with. I keep imagining him standing in the same place where Yuji was, seeing the blood on the concrete, the destruction before him, and the only reason he didn't fall apart because he needed to find Yuji, save Tsumiki and free Gojo.
No wonder Megumi fell apart so quickly in chapter 212.
It's so much more than just Tsumiki being possessed, but also the weight of the deaths in Shibuya, the notion that he risked Yuji's life in an attempt to help him, the loneliness for losing yet another loved one, the reality that he was made a fool of, that he didn't even recognize the person he loved most.
All of this wrapped in wrapping paper and thrown in his face. Like, "look!, you swam so hard, tried so hard to reach the white sand beach, only to find out that there is no beach, HAHA".
Man, this is so fucked up.

JUJUTSU KAISEN SPOILERS SHOO SHOO!!
"You wanted revenge, revenge against those who resented that cursed unwanted little wretch." Is what mahito says to sukuna, snd sukuna responds saying he lived only in the manner he knew how to, but also admits he had different paths he could take. It's an admission that even with the way he was treated, he lived in a way the world perceived him rather than what he might've actually wanted at first. This is a parallel to Gojo I think, somebody who was also treated unfairly in a very opposite way than sukuna, but still chose to be on the side that protects everybody because he loved people, and that love was realized somewhat due to geto, who in a way helped Gojo from going down a more selfish path. Sukuna also admits he was afraid his own curse would immolate him, which I believe stopped him from giving into the most humane part of himself before it was too late.
"Perhaps it would be nice to walk a different path." Sukuna says as he walks to uraume, who waits on that path crying. This allows sukuna to finally show that small part of some humanity as he comforts them and takes their hand. Mahito also confirms this change in sukuna. Mahito, who is the embodiment of human evil, is the person who says sukuna has gone soft. It makes me think we can have a little reassurance that if sukuna were to be reincarnated he'd be true to his word. It's also cemented by the fact that sukuna says "of course, I lost after all" which I think means he also takes a bit of this new way of thinking of his from Yuji, the one who defeated him in the end.
So while sukuna does not have anymore humanity within him in this moment, he becomes a monster carrying out a very humane act. This choice to go with uraume is an action that can be called love, but it'll be a long time before anybody can be confident in actually calling it love from sukuna.

ch 261 SPOILERS ahead
.
.
.
.
This chapter confirmed one more time what I thought. That Gojou was kinda delusional about his fight with Sukuna.
He shows the same attitude towards dying as Sukuna had in his fight against Yorozu.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The difference is that Sukuna knows Yorozu and her powers, he has an idea as to how to handle her. More than that, he’s there specifically to test out on her some ideas he has for the Ten Shadows Technique. Sukuna’s arrogance makes him an asshole, not a fool.
Gojou, on the other hand, knows that a person with Megumi’s technique is capable of killing someone with Gojou’s technique. And apart from knowing a bit about Cleave, Dismantle and Malevolent Shrine, he can’t estimate the extent of Sukuna’s own powers. And as the fight between them shows he went into it without any plan, he was just winging it.
And again we are shown that he didn’t participate in any planning efforts with the rest of them. He was so certain about his idea to go in first and handle it alone. And so dismissive about their worry.
And everyone else seemed to have considered that he was being delusional because they made actual plans for the plans.
I didn’t think I could dislike Yuuta more but after chapter 261, I actually do.
So let’s look at Yuuta’s absolutely inane plan here. There are two conditions to it:
1. Gojou dies, despite having an overpowered combination of abilities that he’d honed for years.
2. Yuuta is on the brink of death despite his overpowered status due to being so “naturally gifted” and “blessed” by an extra powerful lineage on both sides.
And the way they both attack Sukuna is just targeting him with raw power, typical jujutsu moves despite Sukuna being a fucking expert on that, not trying to get to the bottom of what makes Sukuna tick.
So Yuuta’s idea is, well if they both fail in those attempts, he could combine his ability with Gojou’s and try again. Because surely the third time's the charm. Well, the definition of stupidity and so on, I guess.
Now let’s compare this to how Yuuji approaches the fight. The plan he made with Higuruma had very reasonable grounds, and was based on analysing techniques. It didn’t pan out because they didn’t know Higuruma’s technique well enough, but it wasn’t based on “let’s wing it”. And the rest of the plan is based on attacking Sukuna’s soul directly using Yuuji’s power’s and Mai’s legacy wielded by Maki. The plan is to separate Megumi’s soul from Sukuna’s and reach Megumi, save him. And it’s been working.
And neither Gojou’s approach, nor Yuuta’s, even considers Megumi in all of this. I’m not sure Megumi is paying any attention to the fight anymore, but if he is, I’m not sure seeing what Yuuta did is making him want to fight to come out. It could honestly go both ways, and if Megumi feels even slightly guilty about Gojou’s death (even though he shouldn’t but psychology just isn’t that simple), seeing Gojou’s corpse used like that might make his guilt worse.
Gojou always bought into the individualistic strength based approach to jujutsu, the foundation that upheld the corrupt system he participated in. And he indoctrinated Yuuta into that completely. Yuuta still kinda cares about Gojou, but Gojou doesn't even consider what Yuuta's plan would mean for Yuuta.
If you compare it to the conversation Higuruma and Yuuji had, both characters who unsettle Sukuna due to their humanity, it really shows how little threat Gojou and Yuuta've been to Sukuna.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing this contrast, makes the martyrdom complex Gojou and Yuuta display in this chapter really sickening to me, so unwarranted but the fandom is just lapping it all up thoughtlessly.
Gojou by wanting to go on the murder spree alone to protect the kids he had failed to protect before and who he would fail to protect again by taking on Sukuna alone.
Yuuta by wanting to take over the mantle of Gojou, regardless of what the objective reality is, regardless whether there is even a need for that. The fight with Sukuna, once Yuuji got involved, actually started to go somewhere, actual progress was being made. And Yuuta’s like, well in need to butt in on that.
I just hope it won’t give Sukuna a chance to recover. It’s a technique and domain he knows, a type of jujutsu combat he’s very well versed in. Fighting Yuuji and Maki made him face opponents he had to figure out, and had him deal with attacks he wasn't used to. But this, this is his bread and butter. I really hope I’m wrong and this will just be a distraction.

playful reader x nonchalant/angry character is a good way to start the day emmy and you know that. the fact that he cant do anything because that's the love of his life right there.
THATS THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE RIGHT THERE
And he just looks at you with the most dead expression, lazily blinking at you bc he's so tired of your shenanigans, and he sends you a grimace and a sigh when you say something especially feral.
like this morning, when you were holding hands while sitting on the couch, he watches with a confused expression when you lift up his arm, sniff the damn limb, and just when he opens his mouth to ask you what the hell you're doing, you reeled your head back and immediately sunk your teeth into his forearm.
"WHY ME!" He barks, trying his best to yank his arm out of your grip, only for you to tighten your fingers sharply. He snarls in anger and slight pain, "how the hell would you feel if I just went up to you and started biting you, hmm? Made you look like the victim of a feral dog attack-"
"Needs salt."
"What?"
While he ponders what you said, you gently rub your fingers together as if to sprinkle something on his arm. He shakes his head, "no, no no-"
You toss your head back to bite him again, this time putting your whole jaw into the bite. "SON OF A BI-"
"Language," you manage around the wad of... him, in your mouth. The vein in his forehead throbs in annoyance as you finally let him go, smacking your lips together thoughtfully before nodding, "yes. Better with salt." And as if nothing happened, you take your chance in curling into his warm side, snuggling close like you haven't just given him a massive, bruised, bitemark that he now has to think of an excuse for.
He may be the fool, because for how annoyed you make him, he wraps his arm around you and presses a kiss to your head. You purr happily, "I can't wait to gobble you up one day. Just... unhinge my jaw and completely swallow you whole, my cutie pie."
"I'm breaking up with you."
"You're not allowed to," you hum. "It's against the law, actually."
"Oh yeah?" He sighs. "What's the punishment? Because it might be worth it."
You grin up at him, "it's life with me, except no one believes you when you tell them I tickle you awake, bite your arms off, pop blackheads on your nose and pick eye-crusties from your eye."
"... so basically life now?"
"Yes."
"Great," he grumbles, leaning down to bite softly into your neck, secretly relishing in your whiny laughter and weak shoves at his shoulders.

Ryomen Sukuna
Tumblr media
🗾This is no forbidden lovestory. No tragic fairytale of two people who aren't meant to be together. No, the only emotions brooding between the two of you are those of repulsion, disgust and, on only Sukuna's side, an attraction that only fuels the hateful obsession. He is the King of Curses, you are a being of pureness and protection. The two of you are supposed to be enemies, intertwined in an eternal fight until one of you falls through the hands of the other. Those emotions though, they shouldn't be there. He should loathe you, he does loathe you. So why does he experience those sensations whenever the two of you clash? This thrill pumping through his veins goes beyond the bloodthirst and sadistic ecstasy when fighting someone, beyond the fantasies of slashing and devouring. Other feelings co-exist within those carnal desires Sukuna is so familiar with and if he would be someone lesser he would accuse you of bewitching him. Only someone weak would fall for a cheap trick that were to influence their perceptions in such unfamiliar ways, twist them into something so pathetic. You only add salt to the wound within his ego as he is the only one suffering from such a disease.
🗾A primal part of him longs to slash you into bloody pieces so that your body and face may never tempt him again. Far too merciful would that be though, not enough for Sukuna's heart yearning for revenge. He has suffered a great humiliation because of you, feelings of love and attraction that have weakened him and his resolve. You deserve something far worse than death. He will drag you into a pit of hellfire even deeper than his, will break you and shape you until you are even more pathetic than he is. You will be punished for the seeds of feelings you have planted within him. You will be captured, kept and tamed by him until you are too tainted to return to the holy place where you originated from. He is going to enjoy ruining you and weakening your resolve, to shatter you until you have no option but to stay with him. As soon as you are in the position where he wants you to be, you will be kept as his obedient pet. Your abilities are going to be of great use for his plans after all. It's affection that keeps him still chained to you, a bond that even he will be unable to sever. You will be his. Because if you aren't, then he will burn you alongside the world you have sworn to guard over.
Gojo Satoru
Tumblr media
🩵His appearance and his powers have always put Gojo closer to a being closer to a deity, at least in the eyes of some people. The power that emits from you is something that even non-sorcerers can sense though they do not sense what you are. Gojo with his Six Eyes instantly discerns that you are an existence that no sorcerer has ever encountered. A messenger of an even higher being that has graced earth for purposes unknown. Gojo proceeds with a healthy mixture of caution though as he believes those in power to be rarely innocent. Being close to you is a dizzying experience, the energy you emit strong enough to evoke reverence within an average person. Even Satoru is not entirely immune to those feelings yet he isn't swayed as easily as he remains wary when around you. Every word, every gesture, every flutter of your eyelashes is something that he observes closely as he tries to figure out your purpose for your ascendence to earth and its people. He fails to inform people of highest position of your existence though as he would only dread what they would do with that information. Maybe, just maybe, there is also a part within him that wants to keep this extraordinary experience to himself.
🩵The rapid fluttering within his chest, the warm adoration pulsing through every fiber of his being, the weightlessness he experiences whenever his gaze falls upon you. Around you Satoru feels a safety and a comfort that only someone like you could provide him with. It initially scares him, the sensation of a heaven on earth something that has never been granted to him. Soon he gives in to everything though and that is when the clinginess and paranoia start. Both of you are from different worlds entirely as his life is but a short spark in comparison to your life of eternity. It is this knowledge that he is a being chained to time that torments him greatly. He doesn't wish you to move on, to forget him as the centuries pass. It is a selfishness of the highest degree, perhaps even blasphemous in the face of a holy creature like you. Gojo is only human though, riddled with flaws and an imperfection that someone like you could never possess nor understand. It is you who triggered those feelings within, you who made him this way. If you truly are what history hails you to be then stay and save him from his solitude. Do that or watch him fall victim to his dark side where he will only accept salvation from you.
Geto Suguru
Tumblr media
🗻How utterly ironic of the monk to be met with an otherwordly being as yourself. Geto is not overly welcoming, at least not anymore the moment you voice your own doubts about his vision. A cast of judgement from someone like you cuts deep, so much deeper than Suguru would have ever imagined. In his mind he does what will be best for his own kind, his opinion of non-sorcerers tainted in nothing but hatred. What you try to protect is a creation that is beyond saving. Just take a look around you after all and see what the barbaric feelings of those monkey give birth to. They are the reason curses exist, they are the reasons why his kind dies in an attempt to save their ignorant lives. But for what reward? If they were to find out about the powers the sorcerers possess they would revert back to witch hunts and fear. He has seen it. There is nothing worth protecting within the non-sorcerers. But he could create a paradise like it is written down in so many ancient works across the globe, a place where the hatred and judgement wouldn't exist anymore. His own belief clashes with your own passive one yet to him never before has approval mattered as much as it did with you.
🗻Suguru obsesses over the fact that he wants your approval for his plans. His mind is set and nothing can stop him, not even you. He will execute his plans with or without your blessing yet he cannot stop himself from obsessing over it anyways. It is an unbearable burn within his heart to know that a literal angel like you are do not agree with him. He constantly seeks you out, tries to convince you to understand his greater vision. He even takes you with him to show you the pettiness of humans, to make you see that they are beyond saving and that a future only lies within sorcerers like him and all those who have joined his cause. The silent look you always give him though always threatens to tear him apart as you gaze at him like he is a lost child who needs saving. He doesn't need that though. He has discovered the light already and yearns for you to join his cause. If he were in possession of your approval, of your love, there would be nothing in his way anymore. If you refuse though, if the threat arrives that you may disappear, Suguru will do his everything to keep you bound to his side. He is no sinner, not at all. He has seen a different salvation, one he will have you understand.
Okkotsu Yuta
Tumblr media
💍He should stay alerted, he should stay cautious when he approaches a being so out of this world. However, your mere presence is enough to eradicate any hostility that he could have possibly harbored for you. His whole body forcibly relaxes as if put under a spell, the grip on his katana easing. A heavy gulp that has his Adam's apple moving before he slowly steps closer to you, each step filling him more with sensations of elation and joy of the likes that he has never experienced before. Rika seems to be slightly uncomfortable within your presence though, baring her sharp teeth and hovering over Yuta as if warning you to not try anything on him. Rika's presence seems to be something that elicits a reaction out of you just as much. For one short moment he dreads that you will exorcise her, won't like her due to being a Curse. To his relief you deem her to be a creature that can do more help than damage though, sparing him the horrible scenario where he would have to defend her against someone as magnificent as you. You are beautiful, a fact that Yuta can't deny. Every time he does as much as think of you he feels those butterflies erupting within his chest.
💍Your presence is addicting, every touch of yours electrifying bliss and your appearance radiant, transcending the beauty that he has been familiar with so far. Your figure visits him in his dreams, your voice a call he can only answer. Yuta wishes to worship you, to go down on his knees and praise you for the holy being that you are. Someone like you is too pure for this earth though, a place crawling with curses and humans. He feels this unexplainable urge to slash all those who commit evil, to rid your path of such unsightly beings so that you may only experience the good. It is a thought that grows louder each and every day, becomes hard to reign and only quietens when he is with you as if your presence cleanses him from such inpure desires. Still, the urge never disappears and manifests itself every time he catches sight of an ugly curse or a human who you should not have to witness with your magnificent eyes. His own spiral into insanity is not something he is oblivious to and it threatens to pull Yuta down with shame. How can he protect you after all when he himself has such unholy thoughts about you? You should need protection from him.

Jjk love languages
~Gojo, Geto, Nanami, Maki, Megumi, Choso
pt 2(toji & sukuna)
a/n: sorry if this sucks, I wrote in in two hours(i just realized i left out toji but lmk if you want me to write one for him too). also, please reblog if you can, I'd really appreciate it!!!
Gojo~
Tumblr media
Annoying the absolute fuck out of you(obviously)
You could be lying down reading a book or watching a show/movie and this man will sneak up behind you and try to jump scare you or use his infinity to prank you. When he’s laying on you and you haven't said anything for a while he’ll look up at you and start poking your cheeks or biting you.
On days where his behavior doesn’t resemble a child fueled by 6 bottles of coke, 3 monsters, 8 red bulls, and 10 tons of sugar, he’s extremely gentle and soft with you. Satoru will cling to you and kiss your cheeks, neck, forehead, or hands or caress your face while staring deeply into your eyes telling you that he couldn’t imagine a life without you.
Maki~
Tumblr media
Encouragement
Sparring with Maki was never easy and 100% of the time you end up getting knocked on your ass which is a little sad considering she always takes it easy on you. She has a habit of letting everyone know how much they suck and rarely ever encourages those that train with her but with you she’ll help you up and tell her that you almost had her and to not give up with a half soft half cocky smirk.
Because of where and how she grew up, she’s not the best with emotions but if you’re sad/stressed she’ll rub your back and tell you everything's gonna be okay or let you fall asleep in her arms if you’re at home.
Geto~
Tumblr media
Princess treatment
If you need something but you're sitting with your legs over Suguru’s lap or laying on him and don’t feel like getting up he’ll sigh and immediately get up and get it for you.
When you’re out shopping with him, Suguru always pays for everything even when you try to fight him over it. He’ll always buy you food or offer to share his with you even though he ends up fighting the reflex to swat your hand away  when he sees you reaching for some out of his peripheral due to Gojo trying to steal some all the time.
When you’re too tired to get ready or you’re sick he’ll bathe and clothe you then brush your hair while telling you how beautiful you are and that he’ll always take care of you.
Megumi~
Tumblr media
Honestly all i can say is “idk i just work here🤷‍♀️”
In the beginning of your relationship Megumi was awkward. He was a mix between vibing in silence with you and trying to figure out what to say and do. You knew he was never good with his emotions and that was completely fine because he had other ways of showing what he was feeling or thinking. When he missed you he’d text or call to “check on you” but really it was to hear your voice. When he randomly felt like saying ‘I love you’ he would rest his head on your shoulder or lap or play with your hair.
When you’re sick or stressed but have stuff to do he’ll get sassy with you and demand that you stay in bed and that he’ll take care of both everything you need done and you.
Nanami~
Tumblr media
Acts of service and princess treatment
Kento’s acts of love and affection range from small forehead kisses every time he walks by you or leaves the house to you coming home to find a trail of rose petals leading to the bathroom while he’s leaning over the tub, pouring in bath salts and essential oils. He’s always doing something for you like cooking dinner in a pink heart shaped apron and massaging your feet even when he’s the one that had a long day.
You getting sick is a whole different story. Kento goes from calm mama Nanami mode to uncharacteristically panicked mama Nanami mode. He makes you soup, runs bathes for you, checks your temperature on the hour, and forces you to stay in bed but the second he hears you having a coughing fit his composure goes out the window and he’s by your side in a millisecond rubbing your back and asking if you need to go to the hospital in a panicked tone.
Choso~
Tumblr media
Another “idk I just work here🤷‍♀️” moment
Choso is not only new to society and normal people but also to relationships. He has absolutely no idea what to say and when to say it, but he notices that when he acts on his urges that you seem to like it. Sometimes he wants to blurt out how much he loves you, but he feels like it’d be weird so he’ll either hold your hand and stare at you or pick you up, take you to bed, and cuddle.
Choso noticed that you love playing with his hair so when he feels as though you’re not giving him enough attention, he’ll ask you to brush his hair or wash it for him.
When you get sick he breaks down and panics. He’ll call Itadori balling saying that he needs help, you’re dying, and he doesn’t know how to make you better. It happens every time you get sick; panic and call Itadori to come help while he cradles you in his arms, begging you not to die, with his tears dropping on your face while you try to calm him down.

Among other things, 237 & 238 made me want to write Yorozu domming Sukuna, so that's a plus, I guess. I do not understand why Gege killed a femme character and then gave a masc character the femme's fruit of hard labor TWICE.

The Secret Garden (Sukuna x Reader)
Tumblr media
Author's Note: Hey guys. In honor of the final chapter being released I'm sharing this fic I wrote awhile ago. It's just taken me a bit to edit. I hope to keep writing jjk fics even if the series is over. Thoughts and feeling are always appreciated. Enjoy!
Warnings: character death, implied character death, jjk manga spoilers, true form sukuna
“I am a curse.”
“I am an unwanted child.”
Unwanted?
~
Sukuna watched from a distance as you tended to your garden, something you had cultivated during your time in his temple. Uraume stood dutifully behind him as he continued to observe from the shadows.
“Perhaps you’d like to join her, my lord?”
“Are you attempting to give me orders Uraume?”
The white haired vassal bowed their head, the faintest smirk on their face hidden from view. “My apologies, my lord. I’d be remiss if I didn’t remind you of your meeting with Lady Tengen. She’s awaiting your presence in the throne room.”
“Tell her I’ll be there in a moment…and wipe that damn look off your face.”
They bowed again and promptly dismissed themself.
Sukuna turned his attention back to the garden to find you hovering over a small shrub. He ventured towards you with a budding curiosity.
It really was magnificent what you were able to accomplish in the year that you had started this project.
The once desolate space of dead branches and unkempt dirt had been transformed into a collection of flowers, herbs, and vegetables all surrounding a small pond. It was vibrant and inviting, rejuvenated by the care you gave it.
Sukuna closed the gap between you and you turned around with a start. With a hand on your chest you exhaled in relief.
“You gave me a fright,” you sighed. “I thought you were supposed to be meeting with your former teacher today.”
Sukuna crossed both sets of his arms. “She’ll wait.”
This was unfamiliar to the proclaimed King of Curses. Having interests in what lowly non sorcerers like you did. And yet here he was drawn to you, your warm presence and kind smile.
“What are you doing?” he asked. “ You don’t usually come out here this time of day.”
You smiled at him, causing a feeling to pool through his chest.
“I didn’t realize you kept such a close eye on me, Lord Sukuna.”
Before he could scold you for your cheekiness you gestured back to your shrub.
“It seems we have a visitor.”
A small slug had latched itself onto a singular leaf. Sukuna wrinkled his nose. “Have Uraume get some salt. That should kill it.”
You shook your head.
Instead, you plucked the leaf off the shrub and walked towards a bush in the corner of the garden, the master of the temple trailing after you. The leaves had withered into a dull brown. You gently transferred the slug onto one of the dying leaves. The creature slithered around its new home.
“Why not just kill it?” he asked.
You turned your attention back to Sukuna. “Because it has a place here.”
“To do what? Destroy what you’ve cultivated? Why would you allow such a pathetic little thing to do that?”
You chuckled. “I appreciate your concern, my lord. But without this slug the dead leaves would remain and the other creatures would be without a meal when they visited.”
Sukuna ran his hand through his hair. “A lot of care for something as weak as a fly head.”
You paused for a moment.
“Then, why allow me here Lord Sukuna?” you asked.
Sukuna remained silent so you continued your line of questioning. “Surely in your eyes I am no different from a garden slug, weak and superfluous. So why allow me to remain?”
Sukuna glared at you with a stern expression that began to make you worry. You had grown more comfortable with him during your stay at the temple. But had you crossed a line?
“Would you compare a rose to a weed?”
The feeling that had coursed through Sukuna began to make its way through your chest as you realized what he thought of you.
Before you could say anything a voice rang out through the courtyard.
“Ryomen, I don’t have all day.”
Sukuna turned to face Tengen, his former teacher unchanged from their first meeting in his youth.
“Come,” she gestured. “We have pressing matters to discuss.”
He looked back to find you gone.
~
Damn you Yuji Itadori.
He knew his stay in this strange new world would be short, mirroring his swift departure from his time. It was inevitable. He had always been reckless, forever indulgent to his desires for adrenaline and bloodlust. And yet, despite that, he felt anger. His new state as a small lumpish creature was almost as humiliating as how he was defeated.
That girl, the one his former host had called Nobara. He had been bested by those brats.
The King of Curses had fallen.
His rage only increased as the young boy picked him up and held him in his palm.
That brat and his damn pity. He loathed how he cradled him delicately with care. The understanding expression on his face was enough to make him see white as he began to burn away.
I am a curse.
The image of a rose in a garden remained as Yuji’s voice became distant.
He had been banished to the afterlife by the world of the living.
I am an unwanted child.
A hand reached out from the darkness from behind Sukuna and pulled him back. Then another one. And another. Soon a cluster of rotting limbs began to drag him further and further away from the rose. A light began to break through the darkness above him, blinding the dethroned king.
When his vision cleared he saw you, standing before him in heavenly white robes with a sorrowful look on your face.
You reached out and held his face in your hands.
He was in awe.
Yes.
Yes.
He remembered how you held him. Your compassion. No matter how hard he tried to abandon his human heart you had found a way to remind him of how painfully mortal he was and would always be.
He loathed you, because he loved you.
You were wanted.
The hands were persistent and he began to fall, the light engulfing you as you were whisked away to a place where demons like him were forbidden.
The dethroned king welcomed the flames of hell that embraced him.
He let out a final sigh as he became nothing.
The curse that never was and a human no more.
~
The End.

I have just been thinking about Sukuna’s 2 choices, since I came across some debate over it. It got me wondering…
Idk, I guess I just I felt the urge to write out my thoughts and it’s become this reflective piece about themes and the parallels that exist between some of the characters.
I think there are some salient themes in the series… namely, Pure Love and what it means to be human. JJK is really an incredibly thought-provoking masterpiece.
Please feel welcome to give it a read if you wish. And then you can make up your own mind - it’s totally ok to disagee.
Respectful Discourse welcome.
Spoilers for 271 and some overall thoughts about the end - I guess this is part 2!
And just a disclaimer: these are just my personal thoughts as a reader. Apologies if my tone forms across a bit blunt at times - I get a little bit overzealous.
First off, I guess souls are real after all. The afterlife is real. It’s mysterious, leaves you guessing, and I gather that it’s meant to be up for interpretation.
As a reader, we are allowed a glimpse of continuity for the characters we grieve for and miss dearly… like a “maybe next time...” or “maybe now they will be allowed happiness”.
For me, personally, it’s a relief because it means satosugu in the afterlife is real 🥹 the brainrot is also real
I digress. Sorry I do that a lot.
Tumblr media
Sukuna was shown in an unknown realm, facing Mahito. He is alone at first with nobody else beside him.
As they talk, he recalls having had two paths he could’ve walked on relating to two individuals.
Most of us recognise Uraume immediately, in what was probably their original form. The other person dons what looks like a Miko/priestess outfit and a hairdo that is equally befitting of that role.
Tumblr media
I personally think it’s Yorozu due to the defining features and relevance to Sukuna’s story. Other speculations have included his mother and Kenjaku or even Tengen.
Personally? I don’t think it’s his mum. And I don’t think it’s Kenjaku. Not Tengen either.
Just going to attempt to go through the options as a process of elimination here. Take it with a pinch of salt because it’s just an interpretation out of many out there.
First off… mother? Imho, it wouldn’t be a “choice” he could make if it was his mum - you can’t “choose” your mother. It’s not a path... his mentioning of her was apathetic at best and was in passing on the grand scheme of how he was depicted. He seemed to have sympathy for her due to the impoverished nature of her pregnancy, and while it is true that he could have benefitted from a much better childhood / parental circumstances, I don’t think, in the context of having choice of paths to traverse, it is relevant here for it to be his mother.
Second… Kenjaku. Well… He already chose a path with Kenjaku. That’s why he became cursed objects? He already took that path. And it diverged. There was no other possible attachment to Kenjaku. Kenjaku also already used his twin’s soul as a means to his own end, which Sukuna found gross. So yes. Not Kenjaku, imho. They were not friends nor did they have unfinished business to explore. They were a means to an end for one another, as far as i understand. It’s done.
Third: Tengen. Hmm, sorry but it isn’t plausible. The two were in their Heian form. Tengen was pictured to have had fair-coloured hair.
The most likely candidate is Yorozu. Imho, for what it’s worth. The timeline fits. She and Uraume lived in, and were pictured to have been around together, with Sukuna, at the same time in the Heian flashback.
In terms of appearance, too. Everyone there in that unknown realm is wearing something befitting.
The clothes from the era. Hairstyle - like that of a priestess or noble. It’s a woman. And Kenjaku’s defining feature are his stitches. Gege would be sure to emphasise them if it was Kenjaku. Dark hair, not Tengen. Unlikely to be his mum (never been pictured and it’s kinda too late to introduce someone new in the last chapter).
Most notably: The bangs. The bangs. The defining feature of Yorozu are her cropped & stylised bangs. When Yorozu incarnated in Tsumiki that was one of the things that was specifically defined.
Yorozu was strong. She was feared, revered and probably worshipped as a result. She may have had the priestess-like hairdo even if she was from a rural area and drawn to prefer being unconventionally-dressed undressed.
He recognised Yorozu’s presence and accepted her challenge. There was a promise that if he lost he would marry her. If he was dead he would be bound to her in a ritual. But he would never allow himself to willingly succumb to “love” or be bound to anyone in this lifetime. That was what he chose. So it seems logical to me that it was Yorozu is the one there in the image because there existed a choice with both options that he didn’t take in this lifetime. To love her and give her his solitude.
She saw his loneliness. She said it was love. She wanted to give him love. She wanted his solitude (so she said). She wanted him to witness the love that was in her flesh.
So for that reason I think she was equal to Uraume in terms of being a possible choice out of 2 choices that Sukuna could have chosen to walk a path with.
It’s perhaps only fair that I voice my reflections over Uraume.
With Uraume he allowed them to follow him and serve a function, respecting their skill & talent for preparing human flesh as well as a sorcerer. But the boundary of him showing emotion for Uraume was never crossed. It was always Uraume -> Kenjaku (feelings arrow).
For Sukuna in the afterlife to show more than an, “ah, I recognise you” (like he did in the manga) when Uraume appeared before him. Especially since in their incarnated life, when Uraume was injured by Gojo he barely flinched (in fact, he dodged). Plus, during the entirety of the final battle he spared no thought for Uraume.
I can easily headcanon that when he saw Uraume give up their life after he did, the thought of “to think you’d go so far for the likes of me.” For the first time, for Sukuna to acknowledge Uraume as a choice and to physically lead them to go with him, the feelings arrow is now Sukuna -> Uraume & Uraume <- Sukuna. It’s probably the first time Sukuna ever attached himself to anyone but himself.
And to conjure Uraume’s soul (as we recall from above: he was standing alone at first) and physically demonstrate that he was comforting / treasuring them / bringing them along with him - to me, this was him making a choice that he didn’t make in his lifetime.
Sukuna had a choice between love (to be witnessed) with Yorozu and pure love symbolised with sincerity & selflessness with Uraume.
These are THEMES IN JJK.
Like, there are obvious parallels here.
Gojo. Gojo and Geto’s shared solitude. Gojo wanted to be witnessed as a sorcerer. Geto too, in a way. Gojo wanted that big all-out fight that he could do with meaning in it where he could give it his all. He got it from Sukuna and lost.
Gojo wanted/embodied the loyalty and pure love - the only kind he ever got - from Geto. They were willing to sacrifice themselves for the other, for a shared reason. Someone who understood him. Accepted him. Someone he reciprocated these same feelings with. Gojo had embraced humanity.
They died on the same day, one year apart.
He arrived and sat there in the afterlife with his one and only.
His person, Geto, wept in the afterlife after being acknowledged by their beloved. This to me symbolises belonging and being found.
They died on the same day.
Parallels, Parallels, Parallels.
Sukuna had solitude. It was his own. Yorozu saw it and he accepted the battle & fought with Yorozu. The opposite to Gojo was experienced, where he witnessed Yorozu (just as Gojo was witnessed) and he won. He also continued to defeat and reign supreme, just by being the way he’s always been, as if confirming to himself it was the right choice after 1000s of years — and after all those battles, he was repeatedly shown what it was to be witnessed as a monster. At his end, he gave every single challenger his all & to be given what Yuji tried to give him... he rejected it and died (as he wished) when he lost. In his reflections on the afterlife, well, what do you know: he already had it with Uraume. He already had loyalty and pure love and someone to fight with him until the very end. Someone who understood him. Accepted him. (Sukuna would now attempt to embrace his humanity - kinda symbolised with his arm around Uraume).
Tumblr media
They then died on the same day.
He arrived and walked off into the afterlife with Uraume.
His person, Uraume, wept in the afterlife after being acknowledged by their beloved. This to me symbolises belonging and being found.
——
So yeah, I get that “it’s possible” for it to be Kenjaku. It’s possible. Maybe. But... imho, he already chose that path. Kenjaku was the only one who knew how to create cursed objects. So who do you think gave consent for that to happen? Kenjaku already went down that path and reached the end... and that was what we saw.
As for other threads...
There are some salient themes like how sacrifice and meaning in life & death were portrayed as “leaving a legacy”. Take Yuki who told Choso to stop living as a curse and now live on as a human, dying in the process of getting the “back” of the prison realm from Kenjaku. It’s like Maki drawing a line under the massacre and living as a sorcerer. And take Kamo who was willing to die and “let his companions lives burn brightly on my ashes” because he didn’t think he had anyone to return home to. And take Geto who made sure Gojo pursued a better path and asked his family to run away after the parade. And take Gojo who believed the world was better off without him if they had a bunch of powerful allies who wouldn’t leave each other behind.
Sukuna lived a life with nobody to mourn him, but he at least had Uraume and Yuji used the last remaining fragment of him as a talisman.
So I think it’s fitting that he looked away from Mahito and carried on.
Mahito was the mirror for humanity. Sukuna faced that mirror. In this life, he was afraid that the curse as a wretched child would only continue, so he relied solely upon himself and it was imho like a retaliation of the cruelty of the world presented to him.
Sound familiar?
How someone who is human and turn? And the core of the other person was love, but the core of Sukuna was power/strength. Funny how they both were referred to as curses. Exorcised on 24th December.
Anyway, Sukuna was more human than he let himself believe, and he refused to stay with Mahito. Without needing to carry that self-imposed title any longer, having lost and died, he was free to choose something he never got to choose: love.
Symbolically, facing Mahito and the two choices facing away was an interesting choice too. And through the essence of what he was reflecting on, he pondered on a better life (with love?) that was facing away from Mahito, the symbol of hate and wrath.
Tumblr media
Again: if Mahito was the mirror of hatred (facing Sukuna) then the other two with their backs to Mahito not only signifies past choices, but possible also love.
So we return to the theme of love. The opposite of hate is love. He was afraid of the curse as a wretched being/rejected/unwanted/hated that might immolate him. He wasn’t able to be anything else in this lifetime. He didn’t know how to. He was not willing to, with the element of fear over the risk of making that choice.
I tentatively interpret it as him not having necessarily embodying hate, but having apathy for connection, due to his blind acceptance that the world represented rejection and hate of him. He ended up being caught in a loop of deep-seated fear over his cursed existence - of thinking he was unwanted, and actively denied himself of any opportunity to absolve this belief. A vicious circle and self fulfilling prophecy of sorts. He just sought to dominate and communicate in a singular way through fighting.
And we know so well of the theme from the origins of jjk 0. Gojo’s anecdotal belief that Love is the most twisted curse. Love makes you weak. Sukuna was afraid to love. If there is a next time, it would be nice to choose pure love that wasn’t tied to being killed or killing or solitude that comes with strength. Just to be loved for who he was. Thus, Uraume over Yorozu.
Love, Attachment. What it means to be human. To taste that life means through feelings and emotions. With others as companions. Sukuna always had that capacity in him, as I kind of pointed out before. Albeit selectively, he offered objective praise and affirmation to others; acknowledging their efforts and seeing it as a form of “love” through wanting to prove their existence and challenging him, The Strongest. Seeing their efforts as “love” he gave it back to them in a safe way he knew that didn’t provide any emotional risk to him. A simple “I acknowledge you” was the extend of his love that was shared through fighting. This was probably a product of his life within the Heian times.
I’d like to think he was heading North to become someone new. He always had it in him after all. There were people who believed in him (Gojo, Yuji, Yorozu, Uraume) even if he didn’t believe in himself. It’s poetic and powerful personal / character development.
Tumblr media
Speaking of souls; I found it somewhat interesting how curses have souls. Since, presumably, Mahito was presented as a soul? Or was this a part of Mahito’s CT as a cursed spirit who can touch souls? Hmm!
He should be a soul though, since he got absorbed by Kenjaku and should’ve been eliminated by Rika when they all ran amok in his death. The relevance of cursed spirits possibly having souls and having human-like features has always been at the back of my mind.
Gege inserted yet another moral dilemma for us to chew on: if humans and curses share the same traits and value: demonstrating individuality, emotions, hopes, dreams… then are Humans and Curses not so different after all? What of the 127 people Geto killed at the village? What of countless curses killed by sorcerers? Are they considered exorcisms? Sin is sin? Life is life? Karma is karma? Meaning is meaning?
This was already something I yapped about over direct and indirect harm, perspective/frame of reference being one of the biggest things we ought to appreciate in reading a piece of fiction like jjk. It’s so very true that there is no clear right or wrong, and this mimics real life.
Nevertheless, I personally think the overlapping themes, the parallels, the depth... they were all woven really well. I’ve enjoyed examining it.
Am I satisfied? Overall, yes.
Do I wish for more satosugu? Haha. I’m human. I’m greedy! 🤪 So pin that on me! I have been known to plead in jest that Gege will insert more stsg, and I say it while upholding utmost respect for him as an artist and writer. I... don’t think I feel the same respect or reverence for him as a creator when I read some of the comments against him. Criticism is one thing, but I wish people would keep it inoffensive. Even if it’s said in jest, sometimes it is just distasteful? Or even downright disrespectful...
Pieces of good fiction are meant to make you think. All things considered, this series ended rather gently. It was an overall happy end. Peaceful.
Even theoretically & logically: There are parallels with how the world was a cyclical system akin to the karmic cycle. Humans generate bad karma. In the series, karma is like curses. Those who practice the dharma can purify themselves. Sorcerers who can see them exorcise and purify the curses. So the “new world” was actually impossible unless humans were exorcised. And we know that’s not a plausible conclusion. So the real best option was what we got: peace and hope that the new generation of sorcerers can continue influencing a healthy cycle in the world they live in.
I’m not trying to minimise others’ interpretations of what happened and I’m sure all of us have things are are stuck with trying to digest.
As a creator, Gege can giveth and he can taketh.
Please have some gratitude for the person who created the very series that got you in the brainrot to begin with.
As difficult as it is, lean into what made you feel uncomfortable about what you’re dissatisfied with. It might not be about the author. He doesn’t owe you an ending you’re satisfied with. It’s his vision, so we have to process it in a way that makes sense in the lore.
Sometimes it’s referred to as: radical acceptance. We don’t have to agree. But we must find a way to come to terms with how we feel about it. Or not - but that’s on you. The onus is on you.
As a reader we should not be able to control how an author writes out their vision. I have been appalled by how toxic and entitled some “fans” are. Death threats, “when I catch you GG”, a petition for Gojo to be handled by someone else, etc.
Seriously. It’s one thing to have an outpouring of grief or dissatisfaction, but to react like that is just shameful and unhealthy. Do they really think Gege should give in?
Go write fanfiction, for goodness sake... :(
