synopsis -> your bf just noticed what you’ve been using as a bookmark.

pairing -> bf!jay x reader

warnings -> fluff, jay being a bully (not really lol),

wc -> 369 words.

note -> needed to write something so here’s my interpretation of the prompt “bookmark” from @creativepromptsforwriting :)

everyone knows there’s nothing better than a good book on a rainy day. it’s one of your favourite feelings. and as you sigh happily and relax into the comfort of your bed, you begin to wonder if your boyfriend will be home soon.

speak of the devil (angel), he opens the door of your shared bedroom, back from his trip to the grocery store.

“hey baby.” he sits on the bed. you put your bookmark in between the pages you were reading, and close your book.

“hi.” you smile, “how’d it go?”

“good. you could’ve told me it was gonna rain, would’ve brought a jacket at least.”

you laugh, “i’m sorry, i forgot to call you. plus, i got caught up in my book. it’s getting exciting!” you exclaim enthusiastically.

jay pushes your head and chuckles, “you’re such a nerd!”

“and you’re a bully. now let me continue reading.” your boyfriend smiles as you pick up your book. he kicks off his shoes and lays next to you, watching your expressions change as you go through each paragraph.

you notice him staring at you, but pay him no mind. you simply sigh and cuddle into him, not taking your eyes off the pages.

this is one of jay’s favourite feelings. the warmth of your body, his eyes exploring your smooth, relaxed face, knowing he’s the one that makes you feel warm.

after a while you sit up, accidentally startling the boy next to you. “i need to pee.”

you grab the bookmark from beside you and rest in between the pages you were on, and set the book face-up on the bed,

“i’ll be right back.”

“okay.” jay says as he looks down to your book. his eyes widen slightly as he realizes what you were using to mark your spot in the book. “babe!”

“yeah?” you call from the door.

“your bookmark.” he smiles.

“i know, i found it in an old box when i was cleaning the living room.” you finish as you slip away to the bathroom.

jay’s smile widens as he admires the strip of photos you two took on your first date, deciding right then that he’s completely, and stupidly, in love with you.
