pt 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
disclaimer again that this is dc x dp x miraculous ladybug x spiderman
for those who aren't familiar with every show, here's a lore explanation
---
martian manhunter and zatara zatanna were both currently in a small arabian town.
the plan was quite simple. after scouting the town for any sign of the league of assasins, and asking the locals about recent affairs, they'd both quickly realized the town was fairly peaceful. no weird or suspicious activity to uncover, they moved on to inflitrating the pit's location.
martian manhunter, with his intangibility, could easily scout the league of assasins' base without rousing suspicion.
this plan was, of course, foiled when the league of assasins was nowhere to be found.
martian manhunter had brought back the information with the most disbelief his monotone voice could carry. as he explained, the whole underground base surrounding the natural pit was empty, most supplies left behind in exchange for a rapid disappearance. he had not gone to see the pit, too surprised to continue exploring without her.
zatanna had thought it weird that she found no trace of the league of assasins in the town. now she knew why.
infiltrating the remote shelter, they found themselves walking through a cold, stale hallway made of old limestone bricks. to add to the creepy atmosphere, the lightbulbs strung along the ceiling corners, hastily connected by exposed wires, flickered as they went.
they spoke as they paced forward.
"it's unlike the league of assasins to abandon one of their bases so casually," said zatanna, eyeing all intersections warily.
"yes. whatever happened, let us hope we do not encounter it," intoned j'onn. his eyes flickered as he gazed at something beyond, "my vision continues to find no enemies waiting for us."
"yeah, right," grumbled zatanna, "we can't rule out a trap. best stay alert. you told batman we're down here, right?"
a nod.
"at least that still works." her eyes zeroed in on an intersection ahead, "the pit's essence is emitting from the left corridor, but it's... weak."
on high alert, both inched forward. turning the corner, they stumbled upon a sturdy vault door, thrown open and leading down a staircase.
deeper underground they went, footsteps slow and hesitant. reaching the last step, they stepped into a round cave. at its center, a crater the size of a pool was dug into the earth.
zatanna's expression furrowed in confusion, "there's nothing. i'd wager he moved the whole thing but..." she crouched, eyeing the terrain, "that's a pretty big decision to make. why would ra's move a whole section of his operations?" her fingers brushed the dirt, "no remnants..."
both figures stood at the edge and peered in.
"perhaps batman should be informed."
nodding at j'onn's words, she pulled out her justice league comm. a quick dial and oracle's voice patched through, "hey z! status report?"
"we're okay, no danger so far. but the pit's not here, and neither is the league of assasins."
a second of silence from the other end. "explain."
"martian manhunter located the base and the league was gone. we accessed the place and followed the pit traces to an empty room. the essence is here, but there's no water. if it's a trap, they're taking a while."
zatanna shuffled on her feet as she heard oracle's voice move farther away from the receiver. a tap on her shoulder accompanied j'onn's soft call of her name, but she waved it away as batman's demanding tone through the comm kept her attention.
while zatanna argued with the caped crusader, j'onn j'onzz stared in alarm at the shimmering, kneeling figure taking form in the middle of the crater.
translucent as she was, the red of her figure was hard to miss. a cropped long-sleeve shirt with black dots, midriff giving way to biker shorts in the same color and pattern. her waist had a utility belt, her hands were covered by black gloves, and her combat boots laced up to the knee.
as whatever strengthened her existence fortified itself, her face became clearer. a black metal mask covered her lower features, stopping at the bridge of her nose. here, her eyes were clear to see, two black orbs that blinked rapidly. her short, black hair exhibited two long antenna-like objects that stood upright.
j'onn steeled his voice. "zatanna, would you please help me attend to our guest?"
zatanna whipped her head around, gaping at the girl. she whispered a small "shit", pocketed her comm, and came to stand by j'onn. "another ghost? but there's no water!"
they braced themselves for a fight. the figure peered at them, head tilting to the side.
"deux âmes vivantes? et pas d'ectoplasme… étrange, je jure qu'il y avait un portail ici." the voice was human, high-pitched but a bit electronic.
"french?..." zatanna whispered, confusion in her tone.
it unclasped a pouch at its hip. the two heroes shifted even lower, eyes tracking every movement. its hand dipped and pulled out a pocket watch, and from where he stood, j'onn could make out a green clock face.
it reached a finger up and circled it anticlockwise over the dial.
its form began to waver, shape becoming more and more elusive.
the events that next transpired happened in quick succession. firstly, j'onn slowly understood that the figure infront of them was about to disappear. secondly, the figure glanced at them and seemed to soften its eyes. it spoke, "ne vous inquiétez pas, nous allons résoudre ce problème." and thirdly, as a flash of green overtook the room, all j'onn could glimpse before closing his eyes was the flowing visage of zatanna's coattails as she rushed forward.
in the transpiring quiet, j'onn could only gaze at the air in front of him - void of both the figure and zatanna.

danny fenton had been prince of the infinite realms for two months. 10th grade had ended only a week ago, and already it proved to be a busy summer, his time divided between taking care of rogue ghosts in amity park and learning the way's of the ghost court underneath the tutelage of princess dorathea.
who knew being next in line to rule was so much work?
presently, both were in the throne room with a table placed in the center. on it was spread a copy of the infinity map. it, and the other copies now stored in the castle's archive, were made after jazz had made a pointed comment about having only one record of his realm's geography. clockwork had chimed in that knowing one's kingdom was the duty of a ruler, and perhaps he should focus on gaining familiarity with his domain.
the conversation had culminated with a pending lesson on map markings alongside the princess.
as dorathea, for the hundreth time, groaned "no, danny, that's not arthur's lake, this is arthur's lake" as she fixed his plotting rod, the throne room doors lashed open with a great boom.
fright knight stood there, tall and proud, and with a deep voice, called in alarm, "your highness! grave danger approaches!"
dorathea eeked in surprise, rod bumping some of the table figures onto the ground. danny lifted an eyebrow at her rather judgingly, before fixing fright knight with a deadpan expression. "yeah, like last wednesday when cujo stole your sword and you thought it was a thief? or the friday before that, when you said the castle was crumbling to dust but it was actually a broken shingle from a kid's snowball?"
fright knight spluttered, hands waving around, before he resumed, "no, your highness! you must believe me! a message from the observants has come through and it speaks of great trouble ahead."
danny pursed his lips, and sat back in his seat, southern drawl disinterested, "didn't we already establish those guys aren't the most trusthworthy folk? better to get the details from clockwork, ya know?"
fright knight stalked forward, standing at the end of the table. dorathea slowly stepped away and out of sight, hurrying down a side corridor.
"your highness, i implore you to reconsider. the observants send word of a group, highly trained and dangerous. they've managed to sneak into the tribunal, and steal an object under their protection."
danny frowned, "i thought they were all-seeing, why didn't they stop it?"
"therein lies the crux of the matter, your highness," fright knight's voice grew troubled, "they could not see it. they had no knowledge that such a thing would happen. they fear that whatever these individuals can do, it is unknowable to them."
here, danny's thoughts jumbled up. he had no idea was to say to his friend - the idea of a power hidden from even the observant's eyes had never ocurred to him. did clockwork know? would he also be kept unaware by this weird group?
danny tried to speak but choked. what would a prince do? what would a prince say?
fright knight's upright position sagged. slowly, he put a hand on danny's shoulder, warm and sturdy. "come, your highness. let us exchange thoughts with our allies."
---
spiderkid was confused and delirious.
one second, he was standing on the queensboro bridge with ironman, having decided to go sightseeing after felinity had talked them into it, and the next a heavy weight had crashed into his back.
ghosts couldn't really fall, they could float, but his stomach dropped as he felt the familiar rush of air. how had he tumbled over the ledge of the bridge? he didn't know, but his last glimpse was the underside of the bridge, and the brief thought that his spider sense hadn't flared.
in one blink, his vision had gone green, and in the next blink, he'd choked on water.
swimming upward, he broke free, mouth gasping as his head reached the surface. his lungs weren't working, painful coughs tearing his throat apart. his arms flailed, struggling to keep him afloat.
in the middle of a trash, a foreign hand gripped the back of his shirt. a sharp tug backward, and he was lifted out of the liquid.
calloused fingers wiped the water out of his eyes, smoothed his eyebrows, pushed away his bangs. a gruff voice shushed him smoothly and gently. thick arms gathered him into a sturdy chest and he laid his head in exhaustion.
a young man's face stared into spiderkid's eyes. they were brown but with tinges of green. he had scars all over his features, a crooked nose telling of broken bone. he sported a buzzcut with a streak of white.
"peter?" his voice wavered, an accent warping his r, "pete? oh my god, peter... my peter... my son..."
as spiderkid sat in this stranger's embrace, he had the faint thought that peter was a pretty dumb name.

To Woo You, Pt. II - J'onn J'onzz x Reader
Word Count: 1,684
Summary: It’s a day that J’onn has been looking forward to since he finally managed to ask you out on a proper date – but now that it’s here he finds himself nervous. Thankfully, you seem to be in the same boat. But you’re both determined to make the night a good one, knowing there isn’t anywhere that you would rather be.
Notes: Requested by @iholli ! I hope that you enjoy this!
Part I here
…★…
It seems to be unfortunate luck that the following days happen to be filled with every criminal trying to sink their claws into some new venture. Keeping the League earthside for the better part of the days, and the Watchtower so busy that even when J’onn catches a fleeting glimpse of you that is all it can be.
The shifts seem to wear you to the bone enough as is, and while he knows you have tried your best to respond to his messages, he never even gets the chance to really tell you to sleep before you have passed out in bed mid conversation. You always let him know in the morning, which he continues to promise is a good thing.
Besides, the fighting has left him a little tired as well, though he never mentions a word of it to you, not wanting to risk rescheduling the date. Flash, in his good natured but mischievous spirit, had sworn to him that the date would happen, and nothing could stop it – not even the end of the world. Green Lantern had shaken his head and warned Wally that it sounded like he was going to jinx it, which seemed to do enough to hush him. For all of an hour.
Still, your bright-eyed optimism, even through tired slurring over voice message, put the Martian more at ease than anything or anyone else.
By Tuesday night it also seemed that word had traveled like wildfire. And plenty of staff gave him their best silent encouragement as he moved past them to catch you before you left. Mr. Terrific, Superman, and Flash gave their own encouragement, with even Batman giving him a nod. J’onn needed to find the individuals aboard the Watchtower more things to do, really.
Despite that, it had finally given him a moment to talk with you as you waited for the transporter to fire up.
“Are you alright?”
“Mm,” you hummed, snapping back to attention. You realized quick enough that you were beginning to doze off while standing. “I’m okay,” you assured, hands up in a motion of surrender. “Just looking forward to a shower and sleep.” Despite your body seeming ready to collapse where you stood, the smile on your face did not stop when you next spoke. “Need to be well rested for our date tomorrow.”
Though the lack of communication the days following his asking had been a small knot of concern for J’onn, it certainly hadn’t dampened your feelings towards it. It was a weight off his shoulders to hear. You had that ability though, to put people at ease or lighten the load with little more than a smile and your patience.
Before the conversation could continue any further, you were alerted to the transporter ready to go, bidding J’onn a quick and sleepy farewell, and he the same.
He didn’t need to turn around when he felt the breeze behind him, and a moment later his suspicions were confirmed when The Flash spoke.
“Feeling nervous?”
J’onn did not immediately reply, instead turning around to face The Flash who stood idly behind, far too interested in his plans for tonight. “Not anymore, speaking with them was... Helpful. In calming my nerves, at least.” J’onn supplied, already moving past the speedster.
“Well, good, you’ve got nothing to worry about, big guy.” Wally said, clapping his hand against J’onn’s shoulder and taking up step beside him. Before the Martian could excuse himself, he found that there was nowhere to go. Instead readying himself for the rest of his shift.
And the next day, when it had come far faster than expected, had proven that despite his words, he was still nervous when he arrived to knock on your door.
It startled you for a moment, when you answered it – because despite being warned that he would morph to appear human, your brain still expected to see the green Martian before you. It took a moment before the gears in your head connected the flowers and the time together with the man before you. “J’onn?”
“It is.” he assured, tilting the flowers out for you to take.
And hearing his voice was all it took to confirm his identity. You knew that you had broken out into a smile, you could feel the way your cheeks were already starting to hurt. Not that you had minded, you had been excited for this yourself all day. Barely able to stay still once you had woken up. You could also see that your smile had put him more at ease, watching the tension drop from his shoulders and his gaze soften. “I guess I just couldn’t connect the human look at first.” You laugh, ushering him inside for a moment so you can set the flowers in water.
“Apologies, but I thought this would be the best way to avoid drawing attention.” He shut the door behind himself, turning to watch as you skittered around your apartment with flitting attention between him and the blooms in your hand.
“I’m just used to seeing how you really look – but I’ve never seen you outside of the Watchtower either, to be fair.”
“If it means anything, that is an altered form as well, to put other humans more at ease with my presence.”
This line catches your attention, and you look back after the flowers have been safely slid backwards onto the counter. “Well, that’s certainly something to see,” you say, genuine intrigue in your voice. “When and if you’re comfortable with it.” you amend, stepping towards him once more.
J’onn knows you don’t miss the smile he gives you in return, offering his arm to you instead as you both move to the door. “Perhaps after a few more dates.”
“Well, that sounds promising.” You link your arm with his, stepping out and fumbling with the keys for only a moment to get the door locked before the pair of you continue out and in the direction of the restaurant you had agreed on.
The conversation after that flows just as easily, switching topics as you each find something new to question the other about. In your own little world, both of you almost walk past the front doors leading to the restaurant, before the smell of food catches your attention and your mistake.
The reservation and seating go off without a hitch and for a minute you’re just distracted by the interior instead – the lights and decor. “This is nice,” you say, almost under your breath.
“It was a suggestion, admittedly.”
“Well kudos to whoever suggested it.” You can’t quite help yourself from shooting a little flirting line in addition, though it is still just as sincere. “But I don’t think that I would enjoy it near as much with anyone else.”
J’onn opens his mouth for a moment to respond, but nothing comes out at first. He cocks a brow at you instead, well aware of the self-satisfied, mischievous smile that you’re trying very hard to keep off of your face. “Well, I certainly don’t believe that I would have brought anyone else here. It is much more enjoyable with your company.” That seems to kill the smile, but only to be replaced by earnest appreciation, one elbow propped on the table, face in your hand.
“Oh, a smooth talker,” you tease.
You’re interrupted for only a moment when the appetizers arrive, but the conversation picks back up flawlessly.
“Perhaps not as much as you give me credit for,” he jests, “considering how long it took to get to this point.” He can see the way that you cringe in response to that, a grimace on your face.
You shake your head for a moment before going to speak. “Okay, wait,” you pause, arm waving in the air as though you can physically brush away the embarrassment that you feel, “that one is really on me.” You groan, face hidden behind your hand for a moment.
“I still found it endearing. You were just excited to call me a friend, I did not want to risk that or upset you if I corrected you.”
You give a weak chuckle for a moment and shake your head before looking back at him. The heat radiating from your cheeks is noticeable, at least to you. “I was convinced there was no way that anybody from the League could be interested in me. Especially not you. It was surprising enough that you wanted to be friends, and I didn’t want to assume.”
“If it is any consolation, I had to seek advice from Flash before my last attempt. And I was provided with unsolicited advice from others as well.”
“I’ve had plenty of people coming up to talk to me about it now that it’s known. Romantic endeavors never stay very private on the Watchtower. But here is a question,” you say, pushing your food aside for a moment. “Did you ever just consider taking a peek into my mind to try and find an answer?”
It almost set J’onn on edge, but your voice and body language portrayed nothing but curiosity, keeping him calm. “I considered it once or twice, but I did not want to intrude since I wished to court you. And as it had nothing to do with our work or any danger, that was no reason. I have found many humans do not appreciate that psychic link.”
“Well, thank you for taking that into consideration. I do appreciate it. I was always curious if I would be able to tell if you were. But it sounds like it is something important to you, so I’m sure that it is something we can talk about more in-depth if we keep seeing each other.”
This seems to catch J’onn off guard for a moment. “I would like that.”
You flash him another bright smile before turning the conversation into something a little more light-hearted. You both continue, only stopping long enough to eat, even trying to speak despite the food. But more than eager to continue the date after dinner.

Love You For a Long Time
by frenchpuppycormier
Lena had always imagined her life would be much different than what it has so far turned out to be. Then again, her mind tends to change directions as each year progresses, like the turning of the tide; fierce and gripping and undeniably inevitable. Some would say it’s a good thing life isn’t set in stone and it’s constantly changing. After all, the only constant in life is change. One moment you’re heading somewhere you thought you truly belonged, and the next thing you know fate will rip it away. Lena would kindly tell those people to fuck off, naturally.
She doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but meeting Kara was as close as she could imagine it feeling like. It started off timid at first, but Kara wormed her way in with her warm smiles and touches, her gigantic heart and caring nature. They quickly became friends and their relationship blossomed into something more, though neither of them ever acknowledging it. Then life happened, feelings got hurt, and their friendship-relationship-hybrid whatever they were, derailed. Lena guesses love just isn’t in the cards for her.
That’s what she keeps telling herself, anyway.

Welcome to Earth-304d
A couple days ago, I made a post declaring I want to write more for DC and that I want to dive into the deep end; including the creation of my own Earth. My own continuity. Now that I have ironed out what I want from my Earth, I figured I'd make a bit of an... introductory post to show what you can expect from my continuity.
First of all, its name. Because I feel quite proud of that. My Earth is going to be Earth-340d, because that's my name on its head. Phoe's Earth, Earth-304d.
Tumblr media
Now, what you can expect from this Earth. Or rather, what you can't. This is going to be a shared universe where I will write many fics for, but it is not going to only follow one hero, or one team. I really do want to explore the ripple effect of an actual shared universe and how different heroes come into it and come together and how different the team constellations are going to be. So there will be, say, a standalone story about Superman and a standalone story about Laurel Lance and they will be set in the same universe, may even share overlapping elements/characters and both characters will appear together in a crossover teamup story.
Unlike my usual fics, these stories will not be primarily driven by ships; there absolutely will be ships and shipping in it and in some instances, they will be central in the story, but overall this is going to be more character driven and driven by platonic relationships, especially the found family team dynamics. Because it's one thing that always makes me sad about the majority of superhero adaptation (not just DC); we get these teams and they rarely ever get to actually be the found family they could be.
Still, since I am a big shipper, let's open this more concrete part up with a list of the "main" pairings - the ships that involve the main characters of my continuity:
Kate Kane/Kara Danvers
Clark Kent/Diana Prince
Arthur Curry/Laurel Lance & Laurel Lance/Dinah Drake (at first alternating, but ultimately in a polyamorous arrangement; Laurel has two hands; one for her lesbian wife and one for her himbo husband)
Oliver Queen/Felicity Smoak & Nyssa al Ghul/Felicity Smoak (Felicity, too, has two hands)
Bruce Wayne/Selina Kyle
Mick Rory/Leonard Snart/Barry Allen
Harley Quinn/Pamela Isley
Killer Frost/Caitlin Snow
Cisco Ramon/Lisa Snart
Roy Harper/Dick Grayson
Koriand'r/Donna Troy
Wally West/Jesse Wells
I am going off the Arrowverse as the main template; for Flash, Green Arrow, Supergirl and Batwoman (season 1), though with major changes within the continuity of those shows too; most prominently that the Justice League will form far before any of those become heroes; a team they will join when hey become heroes, but a team that has already existed by the time those four become heroes.
Which brings me to the next part I wanted to give a preview of; the team line-ups and what teams I will be focusing on in this universe, beyond the above mentioned and listed single heroes.
Justice League of America (founding members):
Bruce Wayne/Batman
Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning
Clark Kent/Superman
Arthur Curry/Aquaman
Diana Prince/Wonder Woman
J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Zatanna Zatara
Which, Oliver, Barry, Kara and Kate are naturally going to join after they became the heroes they are too. Same goes for John Diggle, once he becomes Green Lantern.
Birds of Prey:
Barbara Gordon/Oracle
Sara Lance/White Canary
Laurel Lance/Black Siren
Dinah Drake/Black Canary
Nyssa al Ghul
Selina Kyle/Catwoman
Pamela Isley/Poison Ivy
Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn
Killer Frost
Lisa Snart/Golden Glider
One of the major differences between my universe and the Arrowverse (aside from, you know, Wonder Woman and Aquaman) is that there are no Legends of Tomorrow. There just... aren't. Snart and Rory are back in Central City - and Sara Lance meets some interesting people in Gotham City to form the Birds of Prey with. I also am deeply in love with the Dinah-Laurel dynamic, so I am keeping those, but will make Laurel Black Siren from the get-go here; none of that "she dies and we bring in a villain version of her but also we introduce Dinah" nonsense. Let's make the Canary-situation a bit more reasonable. I'm also going with my "Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost get to split bodies" headcanon for this and giving Frost her own thing.
(Basically, the pitch is "Barbara Gordon finds new purpose after quitting Batgirl by gathering and reforming former villains with her Canary friends".)
And, as much fun as I am going to have with the "older" generation, I do very much also want to dive into the "sidekicks", the younger heroes. So there is going to be a Teen Titans and a Young Justice team. Or rather, there are going to be Teen Titans and as that lineup fills with younger new recruits over the course, the older, founding members graduate on to form their own, older team. So, here the founding members (though, as with the Justice League, there are Flash/Arrow/Batwoman characters who will join later on).
Original Teen Titans/Young Justice:
Dick Grayson/Nightwing
Donna Troy/Wonder Girl
Conner Kent/Superboy
Luke Fox/Batwing
Kaldur'ahm/Aqualad
Victor Stone/Cyborg
Koriand'r/Starfire
M'gann M'orzz/Miss Martian
So, that's kind of the skeleton of it all. I want to tell my version of some of the characters' origin stories - which, especially with characters such as Diana, Arthur and Clark, who haven't HAD that in the Arrowverse, is going to be so much fun. There will also be twisted versions for the characters who have shows; versions that fit into this new, bigger universe, a universe where they will not be the first heroes.
And I especially want to explore platonic dynamics - John Diggle is the step-brother of Lynn Stewart; I want to see him be Anissa and Jennifer's favorite uncle, I want to explore the dynamics between Donna and Diana, as well as Clark and Conner, let Kara interact with other alien girls her age like Kory and M'gann, dive into the friendship between Kate Kane and Harley and Ivy that I have made up in my head last year. There's a lot I want to explore.
I hope some of you want to explore it with me; the first story in this universe is going to be published on April 7th - Wonder Woman & Aquaman: Of Two Worlds. The origin story of how Diana first came to man's world and an exploration of Arthur and Diana's relationship, based off a seven year old smartass who concluded that he is a descendant of Poseidon and she is a descendant of Zeus, which absolutely makes them cousins.

SO! A week or two ago I got the DVDs for both seasons of "Justice League: The Animated Series", which I hadn't seen in ten years and remembered loving a lot. Spoiler: I still love it a lot. I put off watching it for a while because I was scared I wouldn't, but then I watched it pretty much straight through without even stopping to liveblog.
So. THOUGHTS! ^_^ Any of y'all who've ever shared a fandom with me know I'm always around for one particular character. In this case, that's J'onn J'onzz, the big green guy, whose official comics codename (sensibly not used on the show) is Martian Manhunter.
(There's a bit in one of the tie-in comics where a parent is telling their kid "don't be scared, honey, he won't hurt you, that's the uhh... Martian Maneater..." which has never ceased to amuse me.)
Anyway, we all know I have a tendency to give reviews in the vein of "Good story but no werewolves", and it must be granted that I never did bother watching Justice League Unlimited because Carl Lumbly (J'onn's voice actor, Minnesota born and raised with Jamaican parents, which is apparently how you get a Martian accent I couldn't place to anywhere on Earth) wasn't a regular anymore. But y'know, it's a really good ensemble team too, even if I like Tim Daly's Superman (from Superman: The Animated Series in the same animated universe) a lot better than George Newbern's. Or, well, I did. I haven't heard *him* in ten years either. Anyway! Off topic.
SO ANYWAY. Obviously, spoilers hereabouts, although it's what, fifteen, twenty years old by now? But if you care about spoilers for somewhat elderly TV, you might not be following me anyhow.
So the meta premise, just in case anybody was unfamiliar, is thuswise: First there was Batman: The Animated Series, in which Mark Hamill was the best Joker while not being an asshole as a person, because he is a competent actor and not a dickwad. Then there was Superman: The Animated Series, which I remember as being a delight and I want to watch it again too someday. Then, because apparently if you have Batman and Superman the next step is the entire Justice League, there was this.
The actual premise is, that during an alien invasion of Earth, Superman and Batman rescue a prisoner, J'onn J'onzz, the last survivor of the Martian society the invader aliens wiped out. (J'onn and Clark get little bits of bonding over the last-of-their-kinds thing but I've always wanted more. In a fandom auction I once donated $60 for a fic on the topic, but life happened and I do not hold it against the person. Still a little sad though. It's not something I've ever quite been able to write myself.) J'onn has a whole grab-bag of superpowers including telepathy, with which he summons additional heroes The Flash (speedster, this one is twentyish goofball Wally West), Green Lantern (specifically John Stewart, a black ex-Marine), Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl (a winged humanoid-alien woman with an energy mace). Together, they fight crime! Mostly.
Specific episodes: I'm going to use "episode" to refer to the runtime covered by a single title so I don't have to say "two-parter" or "three-parter" every single time, because this show had literally only one single-part episode out of the whole 52 episodes.
* Secret Origins, three-parter: In which the Justice League is formed and repels the invasion of Earth by the aliens who wiped out J'onn's people. A very strong start, good character intros. I will never be over the very small worldbuilding fact that J'onn is rescued by Superman and Batman, and has seen nobody else on Earth yet but invader aliens (these are what used to be called the White Martians but the show does not use this name either which I think was a wise choice), so when he shapeshifts from his more alien "natural" Martian form to the look which will be his default for the series, he chooses a briefs-and-cape look because based on the two examples he's seeing, that's what Earth people wear. It's not explicitly called out, but it's a great way to make it a little less... comic-booky that you have no less than three extra-beefy guys with almost identical costume silhouettes here.
I think the arc between Batman and J'onn is one of my favorite parts of this, the way Batman starts out being like "I still don't trust him" and winds up trusting him enough that it's their teamwork which saves the world this go-round. Also, speaking as a fan who likes me some whump, can we talk about the scene where J'onn is being mindprobed with all those tentacles under his skin? I have so fucking many feels about that scene, okay. God, that whole climactic sequence is so damn good. And his tiny lil smile at the end of the last episode! I do love me some microexpressions, nonetheless that they are animated. (I can't draw so I am constantly boggled by just the skill it has to take to draw a character so on-model that varying one line by a few pixels Says Things.)
* In Blackest Night, two-parter: The one where the extremely Kirby-designed cop robots frame Green Lantern into believing he blew up an inhabited planet. Introduces several alien members of the Green Lantern Corps. Flash trying and failing to act as GL's lawyer is fairly embarrassment-squicky to me; many of the things anybody does with Flash on this show are fairly embarrassment-squicky, although he does get some great moments. René Auberjonois does two voices, as a spherical Green Lantern and as the "witness" who helps frame GL. The climactic scene is great -- sometimes the Green Lantern ditty just doesn't work, but between the sound design and the animation and Phil Lamarr's voice acting, this scene blows me away every time. I feel like this one could have been shorter though.
* The Enemy Below, two-parter: In which (blond) Aquaman guest-stars, J'onn takes on the first of many roles where he acts as bait by impersonating a villain's target, and the thing where Aquaman cuts off his own hand to escape a manacle is very tastefully handled for a kids' show. I probably would have found that scene way too suspenseful and traumatic as a kid but I was an extremely sensitive small child. Opinions on this episode: I don't really have many. This universe's Aquaman is a *dick* who appears to live by the rule that you must always fight a superhero when you meet one on the street before explaining your business. I always squee when somebody turns out to be J'onn, because I've usually forgotten. (He usually is people and not animals or, like Odo more than once, a bag. I wonder if he has some conservation of mass thing going on or if it's just easier to animate when you keep your same basic arrangement of limbs.)
* Injustice for All, two-parter: Lex Luthor, dying of kryptonite poisoning, puts together the Injustice Gang to try to destroy the Justice League. He didn't invite the Joker, but Hulk expy and heavy hitter Solomon Grundy is also voiced by Mark Hamill, so the Joker naturally turns up around the point where Luthor captures Batman, commentating on Luthor's misguidedness in keeping Bats alive and generally providing a running peanut gallery. Clancy Brown and Mark Hamill are both always fun, so this one is pretty entertaining.
* Paradise Lost: Wonder Woman backstory-ish episode. A sorcerer turns the other Amazons to stone, then blackmails Diana into stealing four artifacts for him, which he assembles into a key to free the god Hades from Tartarus. Notable mainly for the extreme mangling of Greek mythic cosmology into an aggressively Christian shape. Not good. It does have J'onn and Flash teamed for a bit, which is interesting, and J'onn gets to one-punch a giant magic brass cobra, but that's about all there is to speak for it. It looks like the writer also did my very least favorite two-parter of the whole series, unless this is some sort of Alan Smithee situation, because the name is Joseph Kuhr and I have a half-memory I can't catch that there is *something* more than coincidence in the whole, you know. "Joe-Kuhr" thing?
* War World: Apparently this one was pretty nearly universally hated. I do not hate it, because the concept "Superman and J'onn are accidentally blown across the galaxy together and sold to an alien gladiatorial arena" is something I am 110% down for, but I wanted a lot more interaction between them and possibly a lot more fic. I can't decide if I actually want to ship them, but they're obviously very close and I want to see more than snippets of that, dammit.
That's halfway through season one. Imma go sleep. more later.

The Good and the Bad: Arrow 8x09 Review (Green Arrow & the Canaries)
Arrow did another backdoor pilot for the spin-off even though 7x16 felt like one,
Tumblr media
but it’s clear from this episode things have been… retooled.
Tumblr media
Not always for the better. I liked Green Arrow and The Canaries more than I disliked it, but I’m an easy sell. If Olicity’s progeny are available via my television then I’m watching. Period. End of discussion.
Tumblr media
There’s good content for the writers to mine, but there’s definitely some kinks to work out.
Tumblr media
Doing things a little different with this review. Yes, I can change.
Tumblr media
It didn’t feel like a fully fleshed out episode and I have a feeling we’ll be repeating this pilot in some form if Green Arrow and The Canaries is greenlit, so for now we’ll just hit the highlights – the good and the bad.
Tumblr media
Let’s dig in…
What I Loved
This is the first episode immediately after Crisis, so we don’t entirely know how the present day is impacted, but the future certainly is bright. Mia and William have grown up in an almost paradise. Star City is the safest city in the country. There’s been no crime for almost twenty years and it’s all thanks to the city’s hero – Oliver Queen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

It’s nice to see Oliver being honored years later by the ungrateful twats of Star City. They are slightly less ungrateful in my eyes. However, it’s even more wonderful to see that Oliver’s children grew up safe, protected, and maybe even a little pampered. It’s everything he wanted for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The big stick with this carrot of course is Oliver not being able to raise William and Mia.
Tumblr media
Mia Smoak is the princess we were promised and she is ready to ascend the throne. I loved everything about her character.
Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
The alternate timeline/universe (?) has softened Mia. There’s no anger. No dark and twisty past. No hatred of vigilantes. No resentment over lies and betrayals.
Tumblr media
Mia knows her father was a hero, but she hasn’t grown up hiding out in a cabin with Felicity. Instead she grew up with William in the Queen Mansion (where she currently resides). On the surface, Mia’s life has been pretty friggin perfect, even if she’s a little adrift. That said, the Grand Canyon sized hole in her life is that her dad is gone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
Mia blissfully wakes
Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
and is proposed to by… JJ DIGGLE!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
We have a scantily clad naked Diggle boy and he’s already dropping down on one knee. This show is my crack.
Tumblr media
This also means JJ Diggle isn’t evil! Plot twist!! Dun dun DUNNN!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: kathmcnamara
Mia says yes after a brief hesitation and the DIGGLE BROTHER LOVE TRIANGLE HAS COMMENCED. I know I’m the only person who wants this love triangle, but I don’t care.
Tumblr media
JJ is the “good” brother and Connor isn’t “evil” but he seems like a colossal screw up with questionable facial hair.
Tumblr media
But also maybe I like the facial hair?
Tumblr media
It’s clear he has an adversarial relationship with Mia, but so many romances have been born from loathing. Enemies to lovers is a classic trope. I’m all in.
Tumblr media
Of course, we’re supposed to expect Connor in Mia’s bed since the Season 7 flash forwards more than hinted at a brewing romance between the two,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but instead it is JJ. A plot twist the Olicity fandom called ages ago.
Tumblr media
John Jr. is new and improved though. There isn’t much to dislike about this version of him. He’s kind, sweet, sexy, attentive and pulling out expensive jewelry in the first five minutes. What’s not to love? There’s a smol and tol aesthetic happening too. Everyone knows that’s my shipping jam.
Tumblr media
Things immediately get rocky though (pun intended). First, JJ gives Mia the Queen family engagement ring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: arrowdaily
Mia makes a point of saying it was her mother’s which gives me the feels.
Tumblr media
I never had the same issues with Moira’s engagement ring others did, but even I can recognize there’s some bad juju in it
Tumblr media
Next, Mia gets her memories back (more on THAT later) and officially remembers her fiancé was a psychopathic killer who ran one of her friends through with the pointy end of a sword. It’s a little difficult to kiss JJ after that visual.
Tumblr media
Things don’t get much easier after Mia accuses JJ of being the mastermind behind Bianca Bertinelli’s kidnapping. (Yes, she’s Helena’s daughter). He’s not the kidnapper. All his secrecy revolves around the honeymoon JJ is planning. It does lead to a truly hilarious moment between the two characters.
JJ: Jumping to conclusions is I’m cheating on you not that I’m a kidnapper. For the record, I’m neither.
It’s a heavy moment, but I died. It’s going to be a little hard to pick out cake now.
Tumblr media
The scene itself is heartbreaking. Charlie and Kat acted their asses off in it too. JJ thinks Mia doesn’t want to marry him. She hesitated before accepting his proposal (Yes, he noticed that Mia. So did I). JJ believes Mia is commitment phobic. It’s not wildly unlike how Oliver’s story began. Thank God there’s no cheating with siblings though.
Tumblr media
Mia is merely struggling with the idea that her fiancé was a cold blooded killer in another world. She just needs some time to… adjust. She’s also a little commitment phobic. After stopping the real bad guys, Mia reassures JJ, but she doesn’t tell him the truth about who she is.
Mia: I couldn't imagine spending my life with anyone else."
I see your not-so-subtle wink at SmoakNHawke writers. I AM SO HERE FOR THIS.
Tumblr media
The truly awesome moment with JJ’s character is when he gets his memories back too. I was not expecting this and was genuinely surprised. Charlie Barnett is a PHENOMENAL actor. He played that scene perfectly.
Tumblr media
Giving JJ his memories back is a stroke of genius because now he's a more complicated villain (I hope). He gets to struggle with his love for Mia and his loony tune desire to take over the city.
Tumblr media
Katherine McNamara also does a fantastic job of blending the two versions of Mia after she gets her memories back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
She’s reeling from the suffering and loss, but Mia is still our bad ass princess who takes no crap.
Tumblr media
Source: oh-my-hades
She is still every bit the hero Oliver and Felicity raised her to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: feilcityqueen
She’s just a little more pragmatic. Her communication skills are much improved. One of the best moments of the episode is when she gets to show up L*urel with her “new” experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Mia telling L*urel where to stick it was a long time coming. We had to wait twenty five minutes for it to happen, but it was GLORIOUS when it did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

William is a perfect cupcake, excited to be Mia’s man of honor, but bummed his boyfriend cheated on him. We hate Kevin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: arrowdaily
He encourages Mia to join Smoak Tech, but she’s not sold on joining Mama’s company. William running Felicity’s company fills me with a deep and abiding joy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
William Clayton-Harris-Smoak-Queen is perfection from start to finish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
The chemistry between Ben and Kat is so natural. William’s good natured teasing about their family heirloom” exuded warmth and love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: feilcityqueen
I adore how comfortable the two characters are now. Erasing William and Mia’s separation is the best thing to come out of Oliver’s Crisis retcon.
Tumblr media
ZOE IS ALIVE because I said she would be and I like to get my way.
Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
Din*h owns a bar (Thea’s old club) and lives in the apartment upstairs (Thea and Olicity’s old loft).
Tumblr media
Source: canarynetwork
She woke up in the future after Oliver’s funeral and discovered she doesn’t exist in 2040. I’m only mildly curious about this. The bigger shock is Din*h is tolerable. She’s compassionate towards Mia and often serves as the peace maker between her and L*urel. She feels like an older and wiser Din*h Dr*ke. More like Season 5 Din*h, but not so angry.
Tumblr media
Also, hello that voice? She can be like Lorne on Angel and randomly break out into show tunes.  Juliana did a beautiful job.
E2 Oliver cheated on L*urel with Sara too. There is no universe where L*urel & Oliver end up together. Nobody hates L*uriver more than these writers.
Tumblr media
What I Hated
L*urel. I hated everything about L*urel.
Tumblr media
At first, I thought I was being too sensitive, but after a certain point it was clear she is just an asshole. L*urel being unbearable in Arrow pilots is a tradition apparently.
Tumblr media
It starts with how Mia gets her memories back. There were some spoilers out on this, but I wasn’t entirely sure how it would play out onscreen and yeah… total dick move.
Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
L*urel destroys Mia’s life by forcing unbelievably painful memories on her without discussing it with her first. And for what? So, Mia can help L*urel find her kidnapped friend.
Tumblr media
Even the newspaper article L*urel drops about the Green Arrow failing the city doesn’t excuse the way she gave Mia her memories back. I understand she is trying to convince Mia to be a superhero, but I feel a more effective approach would have been to sit down, grab a cup of coffee, offer the pros and cons of getting her memories back and then let MIA DECIDE.
Tumblr media
Source: supercanaries
L*urel didn’t need to grab her from behind at her graduation/engagement party.  It had the uncomfortable vibe of mind rape and no amount of “girl power” makes that okay.
Tumblr media
Oh hey - if  J'onn J'onzz from Superg*rl is going around and zapping people’s minds without clearing it with them first -
Tumblr media
What was with L*urel insulting Mia every two seconds? UGH. Where is that damn bird baton?
Tumblr media
There’s a fine line between snark and nasty. L*urel was just nasty.
Tumblr media
L*urel decides Mia is a lazy, self absorbed, idiot because she’s not immediately jumping at the chance to be the Green Arrow. She literally blew this kid’s life apart, gives her no time to process, and immediately begins insulting her because she’s not following all of L*urel’s commands.
Tumblr media
On what planet does L*urel have any authority over Mia's life?
Tumblr media
They have a warm and fuzzy heart to heart about choosing to be a hero to smooth over L*urel’s wildly unpleasant personality, but it’s ludicrous. L*urel didn’t even rate a goodbye from Oliver. I find her suddenly being an expert on what Oliver would want for his daughter pretty tough to swallow.
Tumblr media
This conversation should’ve been with William. PERIOD.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Source: oliverxfelicity
It’s insane L*urel is judging anyone about anything because SHE IS A MURDERER. But sure, being a socialite is the real crime. Thank goodness L*urel is here to stop all the shopping.
Tumblr media
The show was desperate glaze over Bl*ck Sir*n’s history with bizarre explanations.
L*urel: I wasted a lot of time pretending to be something I wasn’t because it was easier.”
So, Bl*ck Sir*n was pretending to be a murderer because it was easier?
Tumblr media
That’s not a thing. You don’t pretend to a murderer. You just are one.
Tumblr media
Bl*ck Sir*n wasn’t like Oliver Queen. She killed good and innocent people. We’re just supposed to accept she was always a good person simply because she says so? Sorry sweetheart, the evidence does not exist. I would send your ass to prison for a good 25 to life, but the network didn’t ask for my opinion about your participation in the new show. THEY SHOULD HAVE.
Tumblr media
Then there’s the way they casually avoid things Bl*ck Sir*n has done.
Din*h: I can let go of the people I lost and mistakes that I made.
Din*h lost her boyfriend because L*urel murdered him. They ate French fries and drank milkshakes in a ten second scene and now we’re supposed to believe they’re best friends. Umm… no. If you want to make this friendship believable don’t pretend their history doesn’t exist. Most of your viewing audience is coming from Arrow. We remember that L*urel killed Dinah’s boyfriend.
Tumblr media
L*urel: D you’re up. You ready?
Din*h: Never not.
Ugh. Cringe. Arrow was effortlessly bad ass because Stephen Amell made Oliver Queen look effortlessly bad ass.
Tumblr media
The action was show, not tell, and that includes the dialogue. There is no making L*urel and Din*h cool, so just-
Tumblr media
And POSE. It’s like mannequins in a Macy’s window. YIKES.
Tumblr media
Source: canarynetwork
They force this “Ra Ra Girl Power” nonsense with clunky lines and empty camaraderie while at the same time; L*urel eviscerates Mia’s life choices by insulting her all hour. If you want to bolster “female relationships” on this network then start with the women treating each other with respect.
Tumblr media
There was a criminal lack of William, Zoe and Connor. TERRIBLE DECISION.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, this changes dramatically if the show goes to series. This is what I meant by “retooled.” It is clear two different concepts are being slapped together. The one we saw in 7x16 and whatever KC pitched to the network. The biggest flaw in this backdoor pilot is how disjointed it feels.
Tumblr media
It’s like there are two shows. Mia has her life with William, Zoe, JJ and Connor and the other show is Din*h and L*urel. It’s similar to Oliver and L*urel/Tommy/Thea versus Diggle/Felicity in the beginning of Arrow, but it feels really unnecessary to make that mistake again. I do not feel Green Arrow and The Canaries is Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz’s vision for what they wanted the spin-off to be and it is GLARINGLY obvious.
Tumblr media
No mention of Felicity or Diggle. Yes, I understand why. We have to watch the Arrow series finale to find out what happens to our beloved characters. Mia and William never mentioning Felicity and JJ and Connor never mentioning Diggle & Lyla is WEIRD. Particularly since it was Mia’s graduation and her engagement party with JJ.
Stray Thoughts
Tumblr media
I vote for this to be Mia’s next tattoo. Source:  amunetblack
Tumblr media
Well… that’s new information Din*h. Source:  shawgroves
Why is L*urel calling Din*h “D?” When did that start?
Rene is running for a third term. Do we need to be concerned about a utilitarianism regime happening?
I will never believe Din*h can do “Felicity stuff.” Where the hell is William?
“Oh frack you.” FINALLY.
The adversarial relationship between Mia and L*urel is a wise choice given how KC and Katherine McNamara interact online with each other. Or don’t as the case may be.
Tumblr media
What is happening with L*urel's boots? Are there bombs attached to them or something?
The lipsticks on L*urel and Din*h are not good. There's a lot of eye makeup happening too. Let's tone it down makeup department.
Tumblr media
This is my face whenever I see L*urel too.  Source: supercanaries
You killed her fiancée L*urel. Pay your fucking tab.
Female Big Bad. Could be awesome. Just have to wait and see.
I'm really glad William and Mia are rich again. I missed billionaire money. It's fun.

Bio
Everything you ever wanted to know (but were afraid to ask) about Sokovia Rising’s M’gann M’orzz.
CHARACTER NAME/ALIAS: M’gann M’orzz alias Miss Martian FACECLAIM: Jane Levy AFFILIATIONS: Nomads, formerly Justice League AGE (physical age as well, if different): 25 SPECIES (human, metahuman, alien, etc): White Martian, appears human IS YOUR CHARACTER’S IDENTITY SECRET OR PUBLIC? Public IF SECRET, OR YOUR CHARACTER IS A CIVILIAN, DO THEY HAVE A CIVILIAN OCCUPATION? Librarian at the Matchak Library IF YOUR CHARACTER LIVES IN THE FORTRESS, WHAT ARE THEIR DUTIES? Yes. Cooking, food preparation, and pigeon keeping in the dovecote DESCRIBE SIX TRAITS (3 positive, 3 negative) YOUR CHARACTER HAS AND HOW THESE AFFECT THEM:
-Naïve
+Hardworking
-Lonely
+Kind
-Sensitive
+Empathetic
POWERS AND/OR ABILITIES: Shapeshifting, telekinesis, telepathy and telepathic empathy, camouflage (nearing invisibility now), intangibility (becoming more reliable now), Martian vision (energy blasts fired from the eyes, by far M’gann’s most exhausting ability), and flight. These abilities are rooted in Martian physiology, but, much like the Martian Manhunter’s abilities, M’gann’s have far, far surpassed their expected boundaries.
Sound does not travel efficiently through the thin, dust-heavy atmosphere of Mars. Instead of evolving to speak as humans do, Martians evolved to communicate telepathically. M’gann learned to silence surface thoughts within four months of arriving on Earth. However, she is unable to stop detecting people’s emotions and telepathic signatures. She also uses it as a universal translator. M’gann’s own telepathy is dangerously powerful and can be used in many ways, but she has a strict ethical code for how to use it and to whom it may be applied. M’gann does not use telepathy, her native language, to hurt people. She does not enter minds without consent, does not steal, alter, insert, or erase memories.
M’gann can shapeshift on a molecular level, but she needs to have at least a basic understanding of what she is shapeshifting into if she wants the form to be more than surface level. For example, M’gann can fly innately. But, if she wanted to shift into a sparrow with functioning wings, she would need to know a little about aerodynamics and birds. Luckily, she’s a quick study and she’s between practicing for a long time.
It is very, very important to note that M’gann started hiding her powers after the Chitauri Invasion in 2014. A character who has not worked with Miss Martian or the Martian Manhunter would find video footage of these powers through a quick Google search: M’gann telekinetically lifting a car, flying, and doing a bit of shapeshifting, J’onn using energy beams, using superstrength without visibly shifting, shifting into a massive dragon to save an airplane in 2006, and a video of J’onn communicating telepathically with an off-world ambassador.
WEAKNESSES: All Martians have a big problem with fire and excessive heat. M’gann is unable to use her powers near open flames and becomes heavily weakened during heat waves. She is also negatively affected by certain things which would pose little or no threat to humans, including caffeine (makes her molecules buzz like static on an old TV set), alcohol (unpredictable results), cigarette smoke (gunks up her cells and makes her feel physically ill), and many human medicines.
WHAT BROUGHT YOUR CHARACTER TO SOKOVIA? M'gann attended the riots in DC as a civilian. When things got dicey, she initially helped calm the crowd through telepathic signals. Shortly after, at the behest of Wonder Woman and Batman, M’gann joined the two of them at the Fortress of Solitude where she carefully used her detail telekinesis removed shards of Kryptonite from Clark.
DID THEY SIGN THE ACCORDS? WHY OR WHY NOT? No. Neither M’gann nor her uncle, J’onn J’onzz, signed the Accords. At first, they were able to avoid legal repercussions on the grounds of diplomat status and discontinuing visible hero-work. J’onn retired to the Watchtower a short time later and the ISA began to focus more pressure on M’gann, but as Miss Martian had disappeared from the public eye there was little they could do but monitor her closely and wait for her to slip up. PROVIDE 3-5 HEADCANONS RELATED TO YOUR CHARACTER:
Martians families use telepathy to connect with each other. During sleeping hours, they share dreams psychically. M’gann hasn’t had anyone to dream with since leaving Mars, but she still creates a dream for herself every night.
M’gann has never eaten an Oreo. M’gann’s uncle, J’onn, warned her of ‘Choco Madness’ when she was new to Earth. She genuinely believes that Chocos, or Oreos, are cripplingly addictive to Martians and that withdrawal symptoms include loss faculties and hulk-like rage. In reality, Oreos are essentially Martian catnip.
Mars is a dying world. It has been in decline for hundreds of years and the end is certainly close at hand. Outbreaks of fire plague still decimate entire households and villages of Martians sharing the same thought-stream. Rain is virtually non-existent. The people depend on dwindling supplies of groundwater. Increasingly common dust storms ravage the fields. Food is scarce. People are angry and frightened enough to take desperate, even irrational action. All this profoundly affected M’gann’s early life. She and her family worked long hours on their homestead and still often failed to make ends meet. M’gann’s natural form is fragile and short from childhood malnourishment. Technically, she is still promised by contract to a wealthy White Martian family seeking genetic diversity in exchange for food and supplies they gave to her family.
Green and White Martians, as well as Red and Yellow Martians, have been at odds throughout Martian history. Despite long perpetuated stereotypes and misconceptions, the only real difference between these people is the color of their skin at birth. M’gann is the White Martian daughter of a male White Martian and a female Green Martian. Between her coloring, her hardworking nature, and her rapidly advancing powers, M’gann spent much of her childhood being viewed by non-family members as either a monster or a potential weapon.
CHARACTER BIO —
M'gann came to Earth in 2009 to be protegee to her maternal uncle, J'onn J'onzz. She lived with him in a Chicago suburb and fully intended to be a public superhero with ties to the Martian Manhunter as well as Wonder Woman. As such she did not attempt to hide the fact that M'gann M'orzz and Miss Martian were one and the same. Unfortunately, that openness made her an easy target of anti-alien sentiment after the Chitauri Invasion in 2014. She withdrew from social media and stopped using her powers publicly as a way to mitigate the damage.
When the Accords were passed, J'onn and M’gann both declined to sign. J’onn retired to the Watchtower while M'gann stayed in Chicago to finish her undergraduate degree and then a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois.
The exact nature and extent of her abilities is known to only a handful of people, but the ISA does know that M'gann is a powerful telepath because of a video recording of J'onn using his telepathy to communicate with an off-world ally. The ISA made their interest known with repeated attempts to have her sign the Accords as well as an increasingly aggressive surveillance campaign.
M'gann attended the riots in DC as a civilian. When the situation went south, she initially helped calm the crowd with telepathic signals. Shortly after, at the behest of Wonder Woman and Batman, M’gann joined the two of them at the Fortress of Solitude where she carefully used her detail telekinesis removed shards of Kryptonite from Clark. Knowing that the ISA would be after her, M’gann hastily resigned from her library in Chicago, withdrew her life savings from the bank, packed a pair of suitcases, and flew to join Diana.
Here in Sokovia, M'gann is rebuilding the Matchak library and preparing to open to the public. She does most of the cooking in the Mousehole and takes care of the pigeons and most food preparation. She is absolutely, unequivocally overworking herself.
During the Ghost in the Machine event, the communicators were taken out by the disembodied code of Arnim Zola and M’gann revealed her telepathy to all present Nomads in the form of a mind link.

Cassie x Amon Headcanons Part 2: The Prison Break
Tumblr media
Continuing from where I left off last time:
-Amon goes to visit Cassie in prison and apologizes to her there (might as well write something based off on that) Best part? Sobek was not with him when he did this.
- Cassie then discovers a big secret of Amon’s that no one ever knew about except the Shazam family and is actually one of the burning questions the Team had about him and that is the fact that in civilian form, Amon is a paraplegic and he almost always is in his Osiris form because it is the only way he can walk.
- Cassie begins to feel pity for the boy as he can only imagine how it would feel to be in his shoes.
-The two have a long conversation about their families and growing up and learn so much about each other
-Amon sympathizes with Cassie in regards to her low self esteem as the poor girl and her twin Tatiana are victims of severe bullying and one could argue that her being Wonder Girl was a form of escape from the harsh reality that is her life. Her mother Helena Sandsmark’s constant absences due to her line of work did not help matters either and it often caused friction between Cassie and her mum since she is the more outspoken twin.
- When Amon leaves, he secretly goes to speak to Adam and begs him to get Cassie released. Adam at first is hesitant but he is somehow able to force the Gateway City Police Department to release Cassie, a decision that generates controversy within the superhero community and thee world generally as Cassie gets treated like a pariah. This naturally turns the League and the Team against the Black Adam family as a result
- The only ones that are supportive of the Black Adam Family and Cassie are Kori, Donna, Raven, Tatiana, Garfield, M’Gann, Kaldur, Bart, Barry, Wally, Dick, Billy and Mary Baston, Garth,Damian, Jason, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain, J'onn J'onzz and the entire Arrow family
- Those that are in support of them use the hashtag #TeamCassieFC
-They later expose information that slowly turns the tide in Cassie and the Black Adam Family’s favour
- Those against them are naturally rattled by this and begin to send online hate towards Cassie.
- Amon shuts them all down with one epic tweet that made Adam so proud
- The villains use the Cassie controversy to their advantage and begin to launch a series of vicious attacks on the girl
- The other heroes rally around her and help her to fight off the villains.
- However during this period, her powers begin to weaken
End of Part 2

Notes on Supergirl 3x07
Just think about the whole Legion of Superheroes thing for a minute. Ten years ago, doing this on a *movie* budget would have been out of the question. Five years ago, doing it on television would have been an absurd notion. Now it's here. Look how far we've come.
Come on, show, throw in a joke for these two day players in the sub. It's a thankless task, give 'em something to play.
You haven't even put the pasta in yet, Sam! That's ten minutes minimum, plus draining, and mixing with the sauce. Don't make Ruby sit at the table the whole time.
I really hope this boiling water test is merely the end of her pre-established test protocol and not just a random idea she's come up with in the moment. Does she have a lab book?
I have been granted a Winn/M'yrnn scene. The goat sacrifices were worth it.
"Mr J." This is now his name.
More should be made of the fact that Winn is a polyglot genius.
Has Mr. J needed a slash this whole time, or...?
No task is ever below Winn's pay-grade. Never has been.
J'onn harping on "hot sec" and Winn waving it away so they can get to the point is a nice bit.
Just how much stuff has Winn pre-programmed this system to do? That 12,000 years analysis is immediate (yes, I know it's expository efficiency, but still)
Any callback to Superman: The Movie is nice.
Awkward Space-Dad hugs!
How is the Legion ship underneath the street when we've already established it's in the bay? Is National City built over a giant cave?
"That was horrible. That was amazing. Can we do that all the time?" Winn's reaction to being phased through solid rock is priceless.
Not a warning shot. On the other hand, she's gone straight for heat-vision. Quite the impasse.
Ms. Benoist completely selling that she hadn't seen this man for seven months when she had, in fact, berated him just that morning for incorrectly loading the dishwasher.
Why has Kara gotten changed for this scene?
Mr. Wood is so good in this med-bay scene. The self-satisfaction that defined Mon-El is GONE. Instead, there's just this sadness; he won't embrace Kara, but he can't push her away.
HOW OLD IS SAM? HOW OLD IS RUBY? HOW THE HELL DID A TEENAGE SINGLE MOTHER WITH NO SUPPORT SYSTEM BECOME THE CFO OF A MAJOR CORPORATION WITHIN RUBY'S LIFETIME? HOW MUCH MONEY DID LILLIAN LUTHOR GIVE HER TO 'GO AWAY' (we're all clear on Ruby being Lex's kid, right? How else would Lena know her?)? HOW DO THESE PARENTS KEEP GETTING PAPERWORK FOR THESE CHILDREN THAT FALL OUT OF THE FUCKING SKY?
I ask these questions like the teen pregnancy element isn't just padding out the episode to account for Ms. Benoist & Ms. Leigh being busy on Multiverse Adventures In Nazi-Punching.
Much has been made of the similarity of Sam's story to Clark's, but honestly; where the hell else can you *keep* a one person space-ship besides a barn? You can't keep it in a one bedroom flat now, can you? It'd be like owning a secret jetski.
BREAKING NEWS! James Olsen spotted being genuinely supportive of another person with no immediate or implied benefit for him! More on this, as it develops.
"You are my heart." STOP MAKING ME CARE ABOUT RUBY, SHOW.
"I should not be put in charge of anything." All signs still indicating Winn's gonna be the handler for the Legion. No-one's more qualified, and they need SaturnValor to have an escape hatch (I'm not happy about this).
I love Mr. J's suit. I love his over-pronunciation of coffee. I love he loves his unpronouncable game. I love Carl Lumbly.
May I have a Mr. J/Lena chess game, please?
"You have glanced at your smart devices 43 times since we arrived." Dammit, J'onn. Stop doing the last verse of Cat's in the Cradle. Your dad deserves better.
Okay, if they could have found a way to integrate *this* Mon-El - uncompromising, experienced, 'R-rated' hero Mon-El - into the wise-cracking mouth of last season, I think it would have worked a lot better. 2x13 especially.
Ms. Benoist is killing it in the brig scene. She's wonderful. There was a rumour going around for like five minutes one time that Supergirl was going to be in the DCEU. She can't. Not within five years of this show being on the air. Melissa Benoist owns this now.
And he's just sat there, silently considering just exactly how much he's betrayed her, and how much he'll still have to. I didn't know Chris Wood had this in him.
Additional Reign scene is additional. But I didn't know they had deserts like this in Canada.
Scenes where Winn tells the more 'alpha' men in the show's cast that they're full of shit give me life.
I respect that Mon-El still knows Winn is the safety valve of the DEO. "Hope for the best, have Winn Schott plan for the worst," is still a functioning axiom for him.
And if you haven't exploited Winn's generous nature for well-intentioned but otherwise illicit ends, are you even really his friend?
I really like the expression Ms. Benoist makes when she sees Mon-El is gone, but I don't know why.
Ok, I can accept that Winn and Mon-El could get back down to the Legion ship with the trans-mat portal. Does Kara burrow through the rock? And how would they get back?
"You kidnapped him." Kara occasionally needs reminding that Winn is not *actually* Meat-Kalex, but actually a person with agency.
The boys' faces when Kara calls them out are PERFECT. Winn is torn between 'Do you want to tell her?' and 'I hadn't actually thought that far', while Mon-El is very much 'there is no point in having this conversation'.
"You just forgot about me?" HIS FACE. It defines 'fuck you for asking me that'.
He's so broken and earnest and panicked trying to punch his way through that glass. It's such a big change from last season, but it feels so natural. Who picked this cast, and where is their Emmy?
Ms. Benoist successfully landing 'I don't know who this woman is, but I don't think I'll be happy when I find out'.
Fortress of Loneliness!
Kara's gotten changed again.
I can't say for sure if Mon-El doesn't have a right to keep his marriage to himself. It's been seven years. How much information is Kara owed? How much space does Kara owe him? It's not one of those questions with a single right answer (which is not to say there can't be wrong ones).
Christmas at the J'onzzes, yes?
This scene. Mon-El is keeping his emotional distance: he's apologising, being as honest as he can be about what *he* has been through; but not promising anything more for Kara, or making demands from her. And he *knows* she knows Imra is important to him.
Special shout-out for "You've never needed my protection." Took a long time for that one to sink in, didn't it, your Highness?
I admire the show's nerve to suggest there is a single all-you-can-eat outlet within five miles of National City that does NOT have a photograph of Kara Danvers up on its 'DO NOT SERVE THESE PEOPLE' wall.
And he knows the smiling was a mistake. It promises too much; promises what he knows he can't give, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to.
Dammit, Imra, if you'd just give him two more minutes! You're a PSYCHIC, you should know when someone's about to drop the angst bomb!
This, at least, looks serious. It's not like Vaughn and his Mrs on Alias.
"This is Kara Danvers." Was it Kara Zor-El when he introduced her to his parents? I forget.
I will admit, I wouldn't even know how to begin that conversation.
We must always respect the Kryptonians ability to form computers out of unexpected materials, such as ice and dirt.
I take it this is the 'Melisandre'-like character. Robes? Accent? Done.
Poor Sam. She was so excited. This was gonna be a good thing. Now she's a World-Killer.
Ms. Annable's face when M describes Ruby as an 'error'. YES.
"I have awoken." Yeah, but we're gonna be putting you on pause for a week, is that okay?
Episodes since a Winn/Lyra scene: 11. ELEVEN. Can someone please explain what happened? Do I need to e-mail TVLine or something, so they can ask?
Episodes since a Winn/Lena scene: 7. Absent Earth-X shenanigans, still on track for 3x09.
Next week: the four-part Multiverse Adventures In Nazi-Punching Extravaganza!

In Other Words : MST3K
Things feel pretty bleh right now, so I think it’s time for another of these.  The challenge for me is going to be thinking of 20 MST3K titles to reword o.o;  But I just finished watching the last two episodes of the Netflix season, so I’m in a pretty major MST3K mood.  So let’s do this!  I’m not really too familiar with the KTMA specific episodes, so nothing from there, but anything from Comedy Channel, Sci Fi Channel, or Netflix is fair game.
As usual, this will be open for one week, PM me with your answers, I can only respond to those with accounts here on Tumblr, so you will need an account to play.  PLEASE DO NOT DIRECTLY REPLY TO THE QUIZ.
