hi. i'm grim, he/him. adult. english isn't my first language. i like da2 the best but love everything dragon age and tend to get passionate about all the characters. varric, fenris and davrin are three of my favorites. i have more problems with inquisition but i still like it.

favorite characters: varric, fenris, davrin. others: lucanis, emmrich, drayden, bellara, neve, zevran, solas, anders, blackwall, loghain, anora, jowan and cullen. ships: generally ship protagonist x love interests (i.e. hawke x fenris) but hawke x varric is a forever favorite, and i've been obsessed with lucanis x davrin lately.

Inquisitor - Ellana Lavellan

Age: 32 y.o., (22 in the Inquisition)

She/her

She was a dalish mage, before the Inquisition, the First.

At first, she hated being the Herald of Andraste. She despised humans for the centuries of oppression and slavery they had inflicted upon her people. She was a proud Dalish Elf, unwavering in her belief that her legacy was something to be fiercely protected and revered. But as time passed, and she learned more about the world beyond her clan, her hatred began to fade. She came to understand other races in ways she never had before, and with that understanding, the proud certainty she once held about her own people began to unravel as she discovered the painful truths of their history.

She fell in love with an elven mage from a Northern village, a love that defied her previous convictions. Though she had always fiercely defended her people, her heart found a different path. With the God of Lies. She loved him deeply and chose to walk into the Fade with him, even if it meant leaving all her loved ones behind.

Rook - Ivy (Evelyn) de Riva

Age: 24 y.o.

She/her

A gentle person with bleeding heart, despite being a Crow.

She was an orphane from the family of City Elves, when the Crows found and raised her. Throughout her life, she had always been aware of her Elven legacy. When she turned 14, she sought out a Dalish clan. After much bargaining, she got her vallaslin, of Dirthamen. The famous Dalish elf from the South, the Inquisitor, bore the same vallaslin, and Dirthamen, the god of secrets, seemed a fitting patron for her — especially considering her ties to the Crows.

She had a big crush on Lucanis. Their flirtations were frequent, but after the sacrifice of Treviso, everything changed. Lucanis distanced himself from her, and she was left feeling awash in regret and sorrow. Their relationship ended, yet they ended up being good friends.

Later, she met Emmrich, who started as a friend but soon became her lover and her soulmate. She loved him with all her heart and their son Manfred.

She forgave Solas for what he had done to Varric, though it was a difficult decision to make. She even felt happy for him and the Inquisitor, and hoped that one day he will find his atonement.

But anyway about Ivy.

They were born into a Dalish clan but before they were old enough to prove themself as a hunter or earn their Vallaslin their clan was attacked by slavers. The adults all went down fighting to give the kids a chance to run and managed to take out a good chunk of the slavers including the mage that was accompanying them. But the kids were all young and terrified so in the end they ended up caught anyway.

Ivy was the youngest of the children caught. The smallest. The most unassuming. Maybe that’s why the slavers taunted them with a tiny little boot knife. Throwing it just out of reach of where they were chained. What none of the slaver’s expected was that tiny unassuming child to break their own hand to get out of the shackles, grab the knife, and hunt them all down one by one.

After freeing the others all of them made it into the nearest city to try their luck.

Ivy became a talented thief and pickpocket, though they never lost the rage. Maybe that’s why they chose the finely dressed man as a target, despite all the warning signs. Maybe deep down they always knew he was a crow and they had decided that death was a welcome alternative to life on the streets. (Maybe just maybe they had dreamed of life as a Crow themself.)

Viago caught them and instead of killing them took them into house De Riva. It took years and far too much of Viago’s not so patient teaching to cool some of Ivy’s rage, to teach them to think before they acted and to at least attempt to talk their way through some issues rather than throwing their fool life away in a hopeless but it still shows its head occasionally particularly when slavery is involved.

Teia laughed at the two of them snarling at each other and called Ivy Viago’s “Little Magpie” and the name stuck, particularly as they made a name for themself as a master thief and infiltrator along with assassin.

They took Andruil’s vallaslin after their first contract as a nod to their clan and as a promise to themself that they will always be the hunter and never the prey again.

Nivea "Ivy" de Riva

Antivan Crow/Veil Jumper (because why tf not?)

What I know about her so far:

Born in a Dalish clan in the Free Marches. Somehow (I don't know, yet) she ended up in the hands of a Tevinter magister. She wasn't with him long, Viago had a contract on him. She killed the magister before Viago got to him. She was about 11 or 12. This is also when her magic manifested.

(I have this image in my head of a fairly young Viago, entering a room with a tiny red haired elven child sitting next to his dead target; scars on her head & arms, hands covered in blood, smelling faintly of lightning & she's just like "oh, he tried to kill me. didn't go how he thought. are you going to kill me now?")

Viago took her in. I don't know how the legality works but she is considered a de Riva & they think of each other very much like siblings.

("Viago said 'it won't be "hard", it will be torture. You will curse my name & you will hate me, but we can make sure no one ever takes you from your family again.'... He was only wrong about one thing: I never hated him." "You did curse my name. Often. Colorfully.")

I think at some point after she arrived in Antiva, member(s) of her clan came looking for her but she chose to stay with the Crows. When she's basically exiled from Antiva (about a year & a half before game) she goes looking for them & finds the Veil Jumpers. She's with them for a little over 6-7 months when that whole situation happens & she ends up with Varric & Harding.

She knew of Lucanis before game & they'd seen each other maybe once or twice in passing, but they never actually met before The Ossuary.

She pets every animal that will let her.

I spent a long time debating on whether or not she'd have a vallaslin, but in the end, it didn't make sense for her. Even in character creation. At the time, I figured she'd been a city elf, but even as I realized she'd been Dalish, she was taken from them so young. She remembers being Dalish but she doesn't really consider herself as such (something her time with the Veil Jumpers kinda solidifies).

The tattoos she has are crow, and there's a big crow tattoo on her back.

Following the slog that had been his shift at the dunk booth, Bibiano De La Cruz need a break. The amount of times he had been dropped into the water surely had exceeded any previous years record; all thanks to the sleazeball greaser who had decided to set camp at Bibi’s booth. After wondering through the park grounds for a couple minutes, Bibi found himself standing in front of the ferris wheel. As his eyes tracked a particular rowdy passenger car making it’s ascension to the top of the wheel’s arch he felt someone bump into him from behind.

Bibiano instinctually tensed up, feeing cold dread building at the back of his neck. There’s no way that guy followed him this entered time, right? He wasn’t that petty, right? Cringing, Bibi turned his head to look at the person who had knocked into him, bracing himself to match gazes with Kathalipatrasamit arrogant, dark eyes. Instead, he found him self looking down into the large, brown irises of a young woman.

Blinking back his surprised, Bibiano’s faced broke out into a genuine smile as relief flooded his sense. He recognized her immediately.

“Ivy Rivas? What the heck! It feels like I haven’t seen you in such a long time. ¿Qué bola, Ivie?���

Where: ferris wheel line.

Ivy pops her gum and sighs deeply, looking down at her long burgundy acrylic nails. After getting a little tipsy, smoking a joint and walking around the carnival by herself for a bit, she had decided to take a spin on the ferris wheel, as nothing else was particularly catching her interest and the view would probably seem more… picturesque, post-substances. The line moves up slowly, seemingly taking forever, but she pauses and thinks to herself,  ‘maybe I’m just high,’ shrugging slightly and walking forward without looking up from her hands. Engrossed in the details of the designs on her coffin-shaped nails, she bumps into the person in front of her slightly and looks up, jumping back. “Shit! Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention, I’m…” she stops herself before she accidentally finishes her sentence with ‘high as hell.’ “You good?” she asks, hoping they’re not as irritated as she would’ve been, had the roles been switched.

Some little things about Ivy as I wrap up their playthrough

They change their hair for every contract whether it be cut or color style. It becomes a way for the rest of House de Riva to know when they are still on a job

Their current hairstyle has actually been there the longest and they are a bit miffed they chose purple because the upkeep is really starting to get expensive. It’s also the longest it’s ever been and they can’t wait to be done with Solas’ bullshit to finally cut it

They are terrified of the blight. Always have been. Being a crow they never once thought this would be a problem.

That being said they only use their bow to take out blight and for any darkspawn they can. Davrin only makes fun of them for this a little.

They don’t remember the name of their clan or most of the adults as they were very young when they were killed but they do have like half a memory of their mother who was the keeper. They remember tracing her vallaslin with their fingers whenever she would let them. They’re pretty sure it was Sylaise’s.

They are known among Crows for being a master thief and good at undercover work and anyone who doesn’t really know them cannot imagine how they have the patience required of either.

Got a sternum tattoo just to distract their marks. It works shockingly well even when the person they were sent to kill knows they’re a crow.

Isn’t interested in top surgery but does occasionally bind.

Has named every stray they have ever come across in Treviso only the fact they they are so often gone from home keeps them from taking in as many cats and dogs as Viago will allow

Carries a vial of poison on a necklace that was a gift from Viago after a mission went wrong and left them badly injured. He replaces it regularly to make sure it is always at peak potency. Neither of them will admit to this.

Has given all of their companions a dagger and double checks that they’re wearing it before they go out on missions. Lucanis is the only one that gets it at first but the others eventually learn to let them fuss.
