Dragon Raja & Dragon King - All Novels in English
Hello, as some of you might have noticed in the pinned post, all the novels were recently added in English:
Dragon Raja I - The Blazing Dawn
Dragon Raja II - The Mourner's Eyes
Dragon Raja III - Black Moon Tide (Beginning) Dragon Raja III - Black Moon Tide (Middle) Dragon Raja III - Black Moon Tide (End) [1/2] Dragon Raja III - Black Moon Tide (End) [2/2]
Dragon King - World Reset (New version of Dragon Raja IV / Latest book.)
"Keep reading" for a small Q&A
Can I actually read these?
They are perfectly legible and easy to understand.
The translation itself was a multi-step process. I had to spend months collecting the originals in Chinese, researching, using different translators and even carefully training an AI with a huge lore glossary, then comparing the results of each method to make sure that I didn't leave anything out or something was misunderstood.
It might still have small errors here and there (feel free to let me know if you find one and I'll fix it promptly).
I spent a long time searching for mistakes or inconsistencies and fixing them. Regardless, I personally think the end result is very good, and I would actually recommend reading them now, especially when compared to the confusing google translations of the past few years.
Are these the canon ones?
Regarding the version of the novels that was used, for Dragon Raja I - III, since I don't have access to the revised editions, I used the originals, then added some of the revised edition changes myself to keep them consistent with the new canon.
Dragon King is a canon book, it takes place right after Dragon Raja III.
We're still waiting for Dragon King 2 to come out in China.
Why are there 4 links that say "Dragon Raja III"?
The story of Dragon Raja III is told in three books (Beginning, Middle and End). However, "End" was so long that I had to split it in two documents because I hit the character limit in google docs). Oh well.

posting abt it here too.... its been a while since ive gotten rly invested in a new webtoon but im rly enjoying this one...
I just clicked on it bc the art style looked cute... and it IS but I didn't expect to actually get so invested 😭😭 It's an adaptation of a webnovel, and it's a twist on the fantasy romance novel isekai genre!! I have no interest in normal romance novel isekai stories tbh, theyre just so boring to me... the only novel isekai I've enjoyed so far have been subversions of the genre... orv, surviving romance,,, so what im saying is im enjoying this bc its also a subversion-!! (So far it doesnt seem to be a romance at all, and the guy being isekai'd hasnt even read the book so it's interesting bc he has to do like detective work to figure out whats going on... ) Here's the synopsis:
There's not many chapters of the webtoon out but I'm already liking it a lot😭😭 I actually couldnt wait so I started reading the original novel too... It goes into more detail than the webtoon and I can't wait to read more aaah😭😭 Making this post in the hopes of getting someone else to read it with me bc i feel insane rn dkfbndnd
edit: I also want to give ppl a heads up abt a p major translation error in the EN webtoon: The "emperor" is actually a female empress; just mentally correct "his majesty" to "her majesty" in your head when u read😭
edit2: they did it again... The ruler of the Divine Kingdom is also a woman, and was mis tl as male 😭Wonder when the webtoon tl will ever fix it...
#when the third wheel strikes back#twsb#webtoon#recommendation#i read up till ch 14 of the webnovel and ch11 of the webtoon(stupid daily pass) now...#just spent the last 3-4 hrs reading the webnovel and i feel insane

[4.1] The Primordial Sea Pt. 2: Creation as the Key to Sin
EDIT (1/20/2024): to you, reader of the future, past me was very very wrong about this theory! like, misunderstood the lore levels of wrong. so take this post as fanfic if nothing else, it is not correct especially in the understanding of how imagination played into Caterpillar’s creation. Sorry for the blunder!
In 4.0, I wrote two theories: one was a short speculative theory on the nature of the Primordial Sea, and the second was a theory about Rhinedottir and the reason she is considered a “sinner.” With 4.1’s release, including the Archon Quest and the world quest Unfinished Comedy, I believe there is now enough information for a short follow-up theory that synthesizes them and makes one more attempt to understand 1) what it means to be a “sinner” in Teyvat, and 2) what it means to be “born with sin.”
SPOILERS: Fontaine Archon Quest up to the end of Act IV, Ancient Colors, and some dialogue from the end of Unfinished Comedy, which is a world quest with the NPC Caterpillar in the Fortress of Meropide. You have been warned!
edit: please excuse some formatting errors I’ve noticed that are only visible on mobile with some of the bulleted lists. on web, the post seems to be okay. I will fix these asap!
First I’d like to summarize the two previous theories and their main findings/points. They’re linked above if you’d like to read them in full, but it’s not necessary to follow the rest of this post.
In the Primordial Sea theory, I theorized that it could be either of these two things:
The blood of some higher being.
Who: Either Nibelung or the first Hydro Sovereign, based on the weapon ascension material lore from Fontaine
Why:
The copious End of Evangelion references in the Fontaine AQ, including how Primordial Seawater behaves so similarly to LCL, which is the blood of Lilith, who is the progenitor of humanity in Evangelion
Several life forms in Genshin have arisen from a higher being’s blood too such as the Melusine and the Jinn (technically, in the latter’s case).
The “water” in Elynas is described as “blood” by Jakob, a very peculiar description given all of the above
The amniotic fluid of the egg that hatched the Primordial One
Why: Idk man it just seemed like a possibility at the time.
Needless to say, as time goes on I’m more convinced that it’s likely the first option, blood. I have even more reasons beyond the above to believe so, but they will be outlined in another theory I’m working on right now about the Urstone in Yoimiya’s second story quest.
In the theory about Rhinedottir and the meaning of “sin,” I used Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of dream interpretation as a framework to understand how Rhinedottir is “positioned,” so to speak, as an alchemist and creator of life. In summary:
Freud thought the psychological significance of dreams was to fulfill wishes that we haven’t fulfilled either because we have repressed them into the unconscious or cannot fulfill them in real life for one reason or another
He thought that the reason we dream is that the “wish” is attempting to be remembered and acknowledged by our ego – the dream is produced as the wish tries to cross the boundary between the conscious and the unconscious (and this boundary is “where” dreams occur)
A wish is, in essence, a thought – and dreams are the translation of a thought into images.
With this analogy in mind, here is how Rhinedottir and her dragon children fit into it:
Teyvat and everything under the rule of the Seven is the conscious/ego
The Abyss and everything outside of the rule of the Seven is the unconscious
Elynas and Durin and all of their unnamed siblings are repressed/unfulfilled wishes. A direct reference to this is actually made in the lore text for Festering Desire, where Rhinedottir does seem to explicitly refer to them as unfulfilled wishes.
Rhinedottir, then, is the “dreamer,” because she translates these “thoughts” into “images” with the power of alchemy.
The reason that this makes Rhinedottir a “sinner” is because “sinning” and “dreaming” have a pre-existing association in Genshin. An example would be the Sinshades of Tokoyo, which are afterimages of the strong emotions of Enkanomiya’s former citizens.
Freud believed these “strong emotions” are what underlie an unfulfilled wish.
The “afterimage” is a translation of the “thought” or “strong emotion” that Istaroth preserved into something with “form.”
Just like a dream (if you exclude daydreams, I suppose) only happens at night, when the “censorship” that protects our ego from repressed thoughts is weakest, the Sinshades only appear during Evernight when the Hyperion sun is extinguished.
I largely stand by everything in these two theories still, but I think what Rhinedottir theory fails to do in its current state is make clear that sinning is about more than just "dreaming," but creating life.
The Meaning of Sin: Imagination
Caterpillar, the NPC who exists somewhere between the boundary of human and Hilichurl, has something very interesting to say at the end of Unfinished Comedy when we ask him about his master, Rene (who he calls “Narzissenkreuz”), and whether or not Rene “created” him:
Caterpillar: Also, it is not quite correct to say that he "created me." Traveler: How so? Caterpillar: Creation is a feat for a god... If we may call the one above a "god." Caterpillar: In the tenets of Narzissenkreuz, do you know what is most critical in creating someone? Paimon: What is it? Caterpillar: It's imagination. Imagining a person, down to the last detail, akin to an Oceanid imagining a creature in the wild. Caterpillar: There's a story that tells of a powerful mage-priest imagining his own son, only to realize he himself was the product of someone else's imagination.
Now, I cannot emphasize enough how huge this dialogue is for solving the Archon Quest’s mystery. “Imagination” is the key – it is, at its core, just like the process of dreaming: translating thoughts into images. The only difference is that dreaming is an unconscious process that happens when we’re asleep, while using your imagination is an active, conscious process.
The other key is that creation is a feat for a god, so if someone usurps that power, they have “sinned.” Creation is so closely related here and in general to using your imagination and dreaming, translating thoughts into images and giving them “forms,” so to be “born with sin,” I think, can’t be anything short of this: being created with a power that does not “belong” to your creator.
So, let’s think about the Primordial Sea again and the prophecy: the Primordial Sea is supposed to be the origin of all life forms, and just as it gave rise to them, it will someday devour them again and cleanse their sins. If Fontainians are the only ones who dissolve when they touch Primordial Seawater, then this origin from the Primordial Sea is either so diluted in other humans in Teyvat as to be inconsequential, OR this origin is truly unique to Fontainians alone. In other words, the specific way that Fontainians were created is fundamentally different from how other humans in Teyvat were created. They were created by a power that was “usurped,” meaning that their creator is not a "true god," if we go off what Caterpillar said.
At the end of Act IV, Neuvillette uses what remains of his Authority of Hydro to push back the Primordial Sea and overrule its imminent sentencing, if only temporarily. Now, I’m still very hesitant to say that this Primordial Sea/Blood belongs to the former Hydro Sovereign Scylla, if only because it seems that Scylla and the God-King Remus went to the Primordial Sea together in the Broken Goblet of the Pristine Sea lore. Otherwise, Scylla is kinda the prime suspect here.
But to be honest, I think I was also wrong to say the Primordial Sea only ever had one “origin,” though I do think even more so now that one of those origins is a Sovereign (whether that’s Scylla or Nibelung [hmmmmmmm] or whoever). What I missed from the weapon ascension material lore is the allusion that the primordial sea is a mixture of both pure water and “ichor.” It seems that what Remus, the Usurper-King, used to create his kingdom was the ichor:
“Combining the immortal stone with the Ichor essence extracted from primordial water, and carved into a race as black as iron— with arcane lithos for skin and Ichor for blood, never again fearing the curse of returning to the primeval past…” –Wine Goblet of the Pristine Sea
And that ichor that Remus extracted is likely abyssal in nature too. This is clear from the effects of Sinthe on people who ingest it - euphoria, difficulty controlling emotions, similar to getting drunk (which, yes, its namesake is likely Absinthe). As said in A Drunkard’s Tale: "What you humans call wine, we wolves call the abyss."
This also ties back to Rhinedottir and how she created her dragons. The “medium” that Rhinedottir uses to “dream” is her alchemy, and the ingredients she used seems to have been abyssal in nature as well, hence the special “blood” or “ichor” that ran through both Durin and Elynas’ veins.
The Pure Water is likely what makes the Primordial Sea respond to Neuvillette’s authority, the “dragon” part of the Primordial Sea. So what’s up with the Abyss likely being in there too? What’s really going on here, and how is it connected with the whale?
I’m especially curious about this bit from Golden Bird’s Shedding:
“It was at this very moment that the golden era suddenly ceased, plunging down into ceaseless war and rebellion. The throne chamber was filled with cries of conquest and destruction and the agony of the barbarian tribes, and the God King awoke, startled.”
…because that sounds an awful lot like Deshret “waking up” amidst the wars in Gurabad, especially this short excerpt from Staff of the Scarlet Sands:
“"The Sand King sleeps alone in secret dreams, drawing up new theorems." "None shall have to drink salt water in the King's realm, for everything in the new world shall be good."
Did Remus find Forbidden Knowledge too? And if so…where/how?
I said this was going to be short, so I’m gonna wrap things up here despite there being more rabbit holes to go down. But I think this is it - the bearer of the “original sin,” the original sinner of Fontaine if you will, was likely Remus, who usurped the power of creation. This is the only reason that I can think Fontainians are different from other humans in Teyvat . One last thing to note is that, from the Wine Goblet of the Pristine Sea, it does sound like the prophecy predates even Remuria itself and that Remus was trying to transcend that fate by creating his golems. Maybe Remus even first heard of this prophecy from Scylla when they went to the sea together. This is why I'm trying to be so specific - he was the first to try and transcend this fated end in Fontaine.
As for how or why these “sins” persist, why or how they keep being reborn after the great flood reclaims the "ichor" that was stolen from it....I think only the Golden Troupe and Rene de Petrichor knew.
On the bright side, let’s say everybody gets dissolved in the finale of Act V and Furina really is the only one left, weeping on her throne: as long as she remembers everyone, can imagine them down to the last detail, she should be able to bring everyone back. But if it goes that way, the cycle would probably just repeat. Surely she has another plan?
Anyway, thanks for reading! If you have a different take I’d also be happy to hear it, as this doesn't come close to covering everything and I'm sure there's still a lot of holes re: Remurian civilization details.

I'll be adding more to this as I gather the rest as there's many many more, too many to cover but I have at least 30+ of them saved that I could compare. But just getting these out before they private, block me, or delete the tweets. If they do it's further proof they're guilty and trying to cover their tracks. Though these images clearly prove enough

hello i know this is like. super late but i saw some of your posts on werlyt and i wanted to add that im pretty sure livia's attraction to gaius overall is mostly an ENG thing. the scene where gaius tells her to meet in his office later is, actually, standard procedure in japan for bosses when they need to scold employees in private. ive actually seen several japanese players express confusion over non japanese players viewing that in a romantic context. and its obvs not the first time that (1)
(2) the english team has fucked up, as we have seen with nael van darnus always being intended to be female in 1.0 but the english translation team didnt realize that. so while i do think its a shitty attempt at retconning, i do think that the scene everyone cites as "evidence" of gaius and livia having an affair is moreso something that was lost in cultural translation, as he doesnt ever express anything otherwise. the eng team seems to. make many things romantic for no reason
-----------------
Combining both asks. My Sorrow of Werlyt tag; some faint praise and plenty of salt, fair warning. My Livia sas Junius tag as well as I've talked about this before.
I dunno even know that the EN team specifically is "making" things romantic for no reason--in fact, there are criticisms of some character translations that seem to try and ensure there isn't romantic misconception from some characters--as it is players reading so many things with shipper goggles on, and this is a case of poor context.
Though it does sound like a weird request; for me, as a former soldier, once the other officers had left, the criticism or instruction would happen then and there, not in an hour (unless Gaius needed the time for something else), and if needing guaranteed privacy from other soldiers, I would have said "office" not "quarters" as the connotations there are very different in English (and officers/high rank NCOs that I knew had an office separate from their personal quarters while on base). But there are a lot of folks playing EN, perhaps some of them more familiar with the tropes, or simply non-ship focused, that didn't read romance into it at all ever.
Overall, everything Livia says in EN lean toward an obsession with her foster father, though his reactions to her are far more reserved and offhand--to the point of forgetting about her entirely even, his interactions with Cid (and later the Auri quintet) as much more important. He reacts more to Rhitahytn's death than hers, which strikes me as odd. Even something simple would do.
Nero makes a comment after Titan about Livia being "in love" though how much it's supposed to be a joke or what also seems lost in text and translation.
In general I think ARR needed a few more editing passes they had no time and budget for, given they rebuilt an entire game in the span usually reserved for an expansion. They did OK overall, though some weird choices then have haunted the story and characters since.
Also the EN localization team has changed over the years, so the teams have been picking up and recontextualizing the pieces over the years. Koji's been over on FFXVI, so Kathryn Cwynar has been EN local lead since Shadowbringers, as revealed in a 6.1 live letter (she's the bespectacled lady doing translations during FanFest 2021 and those PLLs when Miss Aimi cannot). The EN and JP are mostly written together, but there's still a lot of back and forth, too, as well as interaction, cultural checks, and consistency with the other languages they have to manage. Kate's twitter has an interview pinned with the Local Leads for each language, and the coordinator, from in March 2021.
I also have a post on the Eula/Nael mess, and in that case it's one of those things the devs claim they decided to retcon-but-we-don't-like-to-call-them-retcons, perhaps rather than admit to an error or place blame for mistranslation of a major figure. Which is another aspect of cleaning up some of those missteps that linger, and we're honestly not going to know that answer for sure.
EDIT ADDENDUM: DT has a good point in the Replies too (that I usually mention, at least did in another post); everything we ever see in ARR about the “relationship” is entirely Livia’s statements and POV, across all languages/translations. So if people are reading into it, it’s because they’ve been primed to based on Livia’s comments and Nero’s snarking. Not anything Gaius himself ever said or did, and the “My quarters, one hour” line ends up a victim of translation as players take Livia of all people at face value, not considering her POV is very, very skewed.
Though it is common enough for players to take everyone at face value, heroes and villains alike, without considering their personal perspectives, misinformation, misunderstandings, outright lying, and other agendas, before we even get to how each player interprets those lines they’re taking as absolute truth.

Deemo -prelude- Chapter 4 English translation
i had my exams last month and was too damn tired to clean and translate this so i put off finishing this chapter to september lol (plus i usually only post on thursdays). sorry but in terms of my extra free labour priorities that i hate doing, deemo comes last because it involves photoshop (my hatred goes: photoshop > arranging notes into a score > translating > picking out notes from a song hahaha).
chapter notes and encoded link below since there are more this time.
notes:
as always, I translated this from Chinese so my tl not be 100% accurate if compared to the JP raws
please don’t reupload elsewhere (especially to social media), and don’t remove my credits page. additionally, this is not to be profited off of in any way and is intended to for one’s private enjoyment only.
i despise photoshop and cleaning... and i almost gave up on cleaning the panel that has the “I still really” text (mind i still did a shitty job cuz i suck with photoshop and i did try to cover most of it but still!). not looking forward to cleaning the next chapter.. or maybe i’ll just white everything out. haha...*sigh* iuno. i never have motivation to photoshop stuff.
went back to my older chapters and added in the text on the title pages... since i kinda overlooked them? still, i don’t care to clean those pages (waaaaaaay too much work involved in that. maybe if someone gave me thousand dollars would i consider...and only consider doing that xD [aka never happening unless i happen to win the lottery]).
on that note, i should probably mention that I purposefully skip translating the ストーリー text boxes since they’re just recaps... and it’s way too much effort to do anything with them cuz English is not a language that looks good when typed vertically and I do not like squishing text.
i should probably delaying uploading my chapters to mangadex by a week. im a tad lazy with the editing for this since i already hate translating anything that involves the usage of photoshop... and i keep noticing errors that ive now gone and fixed in my older chapter translations... though i am sorta annoyed how i’ve kept on spelling “La campanella” incorrectly. -.- well, i’ll fix things on that site eventually... whenever they get their edit function working again.
i went back and changed Hans’ dream to being a “world-famous” pianist (left world-renowned since that basically means the same thing) in chapter 3, since chp 4 gave me more context which made that make sense to me
ive noticed my scanlations on other aggregate sites aside from mangadex... and while that admittedly doesn’t actually bother me given the sites I use to read manga, if i ever see my uploads without their credits page, i’ll just make my translations for Deemo solely available through patreon (the removal of credits pages crosses a very hard line for me).
i’ve completely given up trying to find clean raws since the site i used for this manga went down. oh well lol. suppose that just means that i’ll do more of what i did for chp 3 and now 4 going forward since i had no luck in finding another site after an hour and i’m a firm believer in not doing anything more than necessary when doing things for free (i can afford to be lazy when doing shit for free lol).... also, im not willing to buy the raws either since i have no money for that hahaha...
below is not a link. its a bunch of chars that needs to be decoded via base64decode to reveal the link

Euronymous Interview in Decibel of Death, ‘87. English Translation. Ft. Euronymous’ depraved torture fantasies involving Coca-Cola.
‘Decibel of Death’ was a French fanzine from the 80s. It’s first issue was released in ‘86, and by the summer of ‘87, it switched over from French to English-language. This has been my favourite interview of Euronymous for a long time now, so I decided I’d translate it to English so that other, non-francophone, people could enjoy it too. This issue in particular is from February of ‘87, and was their fourth issue overall.
I’ll add a link to where you can find this, and other D.O.D scans, below. If anybody wants me to translate more French, or Russian, interviews, feel free to PM me.
Note: NDLR is the editor’s notes. Any commentary or context by me will be in bold and in parenthesis, so feel free to totally ignore it. If something is between “« »” it’s because it was already written in English to begin with.
Disclaimer: if some of the sentences sound like the energizer bunny is hooked on an iv rig full of pure meth, don’t blame me, I did my best. Take it up with Euronymous himself. Also, I’m not excusing Euronymous’ poor behaviour, I’m just saying his poor behaviour is kind of entertaining.
Without further ado...
D.O.D: And once again, here’s Norwegian Mayhem. If you remember, we presented them to you back in the May issue of D.O.D. Since then, they released a new demo titled “Death Crush”!! Because of this event, we decided to ask the guitarist of this rather sinister band a few questions.
D.O.D: Okay, there’s been more than a few line-up changes in Mayhem. Can you tell us what the current one is?
Euro: Alright, there’s me on guitars, Manheim on battery, Necro-butcher on drums, and our session vocalist, Maniac.
D.O.D: And what is the medium age of the group?
Euro: We are all 18 years old.
D.O.D: How long has Mayhem been around for?
Euro: Mayhem has been around since August of ‘84 with this line-up, before that, I played in another shitty metal group that was also called Mayhem. The other members also played in a crappy band before we all met.
D.O.D: How would you describe your music?
Euro: Ah, well, it’s like a wall of sound played at extreme speed all mixed with the sound of a chainsaw!!
D.O.D: In your opinion, who are the biggest posers on this planet?
Euro: That definitely has to be the Swedish group ‘Europe’. «Fuck them!!» I hate this band!!
D.O.D: Ha ha, what would you like to do to make them suffer?
(This is the exact moment where the interviewers realize that Euronymous is literally fucking insane. The editor censors some of the things Euronymous says because he has a very vulgar manner of speaking, so, brace yourselves. To make it abundantly clear— I didn’t censor any of this, if it was me, I’d let him continue swearing ‘til next year if he wanted to. Take it up with D.O.D!)
Euro: First of all, I’d cut them and make them eat their own (bleep)!! Then, I’ll fuck them in the ass with an empty bottle of Coke, and if they’re still alive somehow, I’ll drown them in their own piss!! (NDLR: I’d do the same to a few guys in Germany and Switzerland!!) But all of this is reserved for their guitarist, drummer and bassist, I have a far crueler torture for their singer, for him, I’m simply going to break his mirror and steal his perfume!! Haaaaafuckinghah!!! (NDLR: ahahahaha, this is so much fun!!)
D.O.D: Okay, Euronymous, onto more serious topics, who composes the most in Mayhem?
Euro: It’s me and Necro, but sometimes Manheim comes up with good riffs, he actually wrote most of P.F.A (Pure Fucking Armageddon)
D.O.D: I believe thrashers reacted pretty well to your first demo, right?
Euro: Despite the zero sound of this demo. It's true that it's actually the hardcore thrashers that appreciated it, although it was the others hating it that gave us an enormous promotion like with 'Metal Forces'.
D.O.D: Has there been groups that have influenced you?
Euro: Of course, early Venom has really inspired us, although we don’t sound like them in any way. We’re also influenced by bands like Hellhammer and Sodom.
D.O.D: Mayhem is a common band name, what do you think of other Mayhem (such as NYC Mayhem, Mayhem (WC), Mayhem (Oregon))?
Euro: NYC Mayhem* are excellent, I adore them! (NDLR: me too!!) and they call themselves NYC Mayhem. But as for the other Mayhems, they stink, «fuckin’ shit», like the Mayhem that’s on Metal Massacre VI*, they really stink, their music isn’t destructive like ours is at all, they don’t deserve this name, I hate them!!
D.O.D: I heard you guys played a show, how did that go?
Euro: It was really «cool», it was at a small rock festival that had around 3-400 «discofucks» (NDLR: this is the censored translation) and when we went on stage with our first session vocalist “Messiah”, we broke a bass over their mouths!! We gave these idiots hell!! Ha ha!! (I’ll link the show he’s referring to below)
D.O.D: And how did your other gigs go?
Euro: For now this has been our only show!! And we don’t know how the crowds will react at the prospect of future gigs.
D.O.D: Fair. Since we’re talking about future gigs, what will those be like?
Euro: They’ll be full of occult things, we’ll play in complete darkness and there’ll be red blood spots, chandeliers, smoke, and pig heads on stakes, it’ll be totally thrashing!!
D.O.D: How’s the Norwegian thrash scene? It’s pretty dull, no?
Euro: Right now, «it sucks», there’s no audience, but it seems to be going in the right direction with bands like Vomit*, Septic Cunts, Decay Lust, and Flowers in The Dustbin.
D.O.D: And what kind of things are your lyrics about?
Euro: depravity, like tearing someone’s (bleep), eating worms, and all those fine things!!
D.O.D: What are your favourite bands?
Euro: Really hard question, there’s so many good bands coming out but I think the bands I like the most are old Venom, Deathchamber, Sodom, Necrophagia, Destruction, Death, Kreator, Poison. (No, not THAT Poison)
D.O.D: Do you ever listen to hardcore?
Euro: «Yeah» I like Chaotic Discord, Septic Death, UK Subs, and others. It hasn’t been that long since I went to see Disorder and it was awesome!!
D.O.D: Are you considering going on tour?
Euro: No, not exactly. But soon we’ll play at a Norwegian thrash festival. We’ll also play at a thrash festival in Copenhagen, and probably do a few shows with Kreator/Necrophagia in ‘87.
(No, this isn’t a typo on my end, it actually says ‘87. There’s two reasons why this might be the case. One, it could be an error on the part of the editor, who deserves an interview of his own, or two, it could be an error by Euronymous himself since the interview might have been conducted in January. Euronymous could have mixed the years up as one sometimes does. However, ‘Death Crush’, the demo, actually came out in March of ‘87. What the interviewer and Euronymous are referring to as ‘Death Crush’ is likely ‘Death Rehearsal’, which is exactly what it sounds like, and was taped back January of ‘87.)
D.O.D: I heard you guys are recording a new demo, is it ready?
Euro: We just entered the studio to record the second “Death Crush” demo, but at the moment, we only have three songs. I’m also unsure of whether or not we’ll have enough money to record anything else, and the vocals still haven’t been put to music!!
D.O.D: There’s some rumours that you guys were contacted by certain record labels, is this true?
Euro: It’s true, we got a letter from Axe killer records saying that they were interested in us but they never listened to our music and I also sent them our demo tape but I don’t believe we’ll be receiving any letters from them now!!
D.O.D: Do you have anything to add?
Euro: Of course, «fucking ARGHHHH!!»
There, that’s all :)
If you’re interested in some of the asterisks I put in, here they are in order of their appearances:
*Unlike most of the bands Euronymous named in this interview, NYC Mayhem (and later as Straight Ahead) never released more than a few demo. They were a straight edge band from, you guessed it, NYC— Queens to be exact. Despite never releasing a full album, their sound inspired some grindcore and death metal bands, notably Carcass. They were also straight edge, which makes Euronymous’ mental breakdown over the Mayhem that was on Metal Massacre very, very ironic. Especially considering he was pretty straight edge himself, especially back in 1987– outside of maybe smoking some pot.
Here is their 1985 demo, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t-3geR1JbY4
*Metal Massacre is a series of compilation albums starting in 1982, released by Metal Blade records. Typically, these were independent and unsigned bands. Some notable ones include Metallica on the first edition with ‘Hit the lights’. Slayer in ‘83 with ‘Aggressive Perfector’. The ‘84 edition had Voivod, Overkill, and Hellhammer.
The one which Euronymous is referring to, however, is the one from ‘85. Here it is, the timestamp is 14:19 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HqwfsLvLvuY
It’s really not that bad— certainly not worth the double exclamation points.
*If you don’t know who Vomit are, you must not know much about early Mayhem. They were another thrash band who shared rehearsal space with Mayhem. Torben Grue and Kittil Kittilsen (what a sad fucking name) were also ‘in’ Mayhem at some point. Kittil once shaved off his eyebrow, but I don’t know why. Here is a picture of the dork:
The show Euronymous is talking about: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mjay2Lmj9C8 yes, this is the show where Euronymous flashes his ass. I think it’s funny because he talks big but he seemed very hesitant to do it, and practically ducked backstage afterwards. Necro, on the other hand, was very proud to have broken his bass.
Well, that’s all I have. If you read this far, I hope you enjoyed the additional notes I left. Outside of a few more interviews of Mayhem, I also have a few obscure Emperor interviews that were posted to the internet in late 90s. There’s an especially funny one where Faust is allowed to interview Ihsahn and Samoth from prison. He’s sarcastic the entire time, refers to the readers as ‘morons’ and proclaims everyone should all die in a nuclear war with the same energy you cross yourself with. Overall, it’s a funny read. I also have one where he interviews Varg, and Euronymous (separately) for his own ‘zine back in the early 90s. Actually— I have A LOT of interviews of Faust for some reason, including two where he’s actually on camera. I might post them if I feel like it, or if somebody wants them. Is anyone here an especially big fan of Faust?
Last but not least, here is the link to the ‘zine:
http://france.metal.museum.free.fr/revues/fanzines/decibel_of_death/04/page_03.htm
#euronymous#mayhem#interview#black metal#true norwegian black metal#I typed this out so it’s mine#Euronymous interview#gee I really hope nobody else posted a translation of this because it took forever#can we make haaafuckinghah a thing?

PLEASE READ
logging in just to clear all of the misunderstandings that happened surrounding mingyu for the past weeks and how all of this started
1. for a headstart please correct everyone, fans or non fans who have been labelling him as sexual offender, sexual harasser and sexual assaulter because in the correct translation, he did not commit any of this. this is being brought up to the light because of mistranslation that have attracted over 20k likes and 20k quoted tweets.
2. who spread the mistranslations? its @/cheolca and @/globalwoozi on twt. i- as for cheolca, she (her pronouns is she/her - stated in her account) already apologized but havent reached those 20k people or thousands of engagements in her tweets (apology tweet only reached 1-3k rts) apparently she’s still running as @/vercheoIs with capital i ii- as for globalwoozi, this person spread that MG allegedly told everyone that victim is a virgin, which in any way MG didnt, not even stated on correct translation. globalwoozi deactivated their twitter and closed their instagram which has 37.1k followers and on twt they had around 8k.
3. Have this issue come into a closure? 3 out of 4 yes. i- bottle cap (alr proven false). this rumor is the very first that came into a light but pledis debunked it as the proofs such as middle school graduation book was in any way, not similar with what MG has ii- harassing disabled person and grabbing chest of a male student. the disabled person case had been closed and the mother of the victim said both of them have a good relationship with e/o and wish to live as a private ordinary person (statement: https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srjqdh) iii- this is about the hakwon incident which i will just attach docs here. its long but i hope it’ll help for a better understanding of this issue. for this issue, both parties have wished to come for a closure and MG apologized to OP (statement: https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1srk9h9) iv- yesterday, pledis released another statement again (https://t.co/VAE2mYowRt?amp=1) on what? here 4. is there any issue’s left? yes. the grabbing chest issue. this is the same OP who made claim about MG bullying disabled person and wished to not get contacted by pledis. notes: please note that i am providing this to clear misunderstandings because i still see some posts calling MG sexual harasser etc. he didnt, if you cross over such. report and send immediate email to pledis. this is a lesson for us, non-korean speakers to wait for correct and reliable translations from people who are professional and experienced in the field. if you cant do a proper trans, do not rely on papago or google translate then proceed to post them. thank you.
notes (2): all grammatical and spelling errors are ignored (no double checks)
EDIT: PLEDIS ANNOUNCED THAT THEY HAVE CONCLUDED THIS ISSUE. BOTH ARTIST AND INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED HAVE WISHED TO NOT GIVE HARM TO EACH OTHER. SO PLEASE RESPECT BOTH MINGYU AND SAID INDIVIDUALS

ideas that are impossible but hey i thought of them
continuation of my previous a3! post/wishful thinking regarding the best case scenario of a3! en continuing
not my idea but someone mentioned having a subscription type payment added to the game where subbed players get extra items and cards in exchange for guaranteeing the localization team income for the month. i don’t have anything against this, its a fine idea, in fact Obey Me! does it already and players get bonus items and access to the animated shorts on DevilTube.
my ideas tho are more of kickstarters that help fund the localization team. essentially we pay for ebooks. they don’t even have to have narration like “He moved to the kitchen and said...,” it could literally be very rough and like stage scripts ie:
SCENE: Mankai Kitchen
JUZA: You made cake? Can I have a slice?
OMI: Sure, cut yourself a slice!
that’s it.
the amount of Acts translated can be split into something like Main Story Act 1 - 4 as a “bundle”/main goal, with getting all the Event stories, mini-chats, and Backstage stories as extra unlockable tiers. We don’t have to worry anymore about ranking of Event grinding or RNGsus giving us the correct SSR cards, we all get all the stories at the same time, we just have to actually pay money because these will just be regular books at this point. also, since there are no more rolls/banners for new cards, just letting everyone access the stories is fair i think.
in terms of distribution, while seeing that character’s emoting faces is great, i think that ebooks/the scripts being somewhere more accessible to the public like kindle or kobo or ibooks or whatever is better for archival purposes. having the app update just once or twice a year with more story content and all would be nice, but speaking from experience as a person who has already lost an online gacha game, having things tied to the app and the servers wouldn’t be good if CYBIRD/LIBER decides to finally really just pull the plug. for nostalgia reasons and since it barely takes any space at all, i still have terra battle of all things on my ipad. however, when i open the app it gives me a “can’t connect to servers” error message because the server’s plug got pulled, and i have to go to the wiki if i want to actually read the stories. so, having the ability to buy the translations as regular ebooks and having the ability to have it on your computer offline / having a personal copy forever is better than nothing/having to rely on the app constantly, even if we lose the “visual” part of the “visual novel” and just have a “novel.”
kickstarters could be held once or twice a year depending on the amount of the Acts/Main and Event stories that get grouped into a “bundle”/untranslated content is in the japanese a3!
again, i doubt that this will happen given how strict and weird japanese companies are sometimes, but it’s the best case scenario where we could still get updated translations from the official localization team where we bait LIBER with some money and also give the localization team some extra income bc i do follow a lot of official anime/video game translators on twt and half the time they’re contracted freelancers who get underpaid for the amount of work they do and i’d gladly give them some extra money.
extra:
that time that anime fans crowdfunded a kickstarter to get an osamu tezuka manga translated into english
that time that the Time of EVE sci-fi anime movie got kickstarted to be translated
that time that Nozomi Entertainment crowdfunded a translation and dub for ARIA
Operation Rainfall (god i feel old this was a thing when i was in middle school lol) (really tho if yall can try to play a rom of The Last Story or listen to music from it, it was fun i miss it but only because my wii broke and idk where in my house my wiiu is otherwise i’d play it again but dolphin is a pain to set up idk how lol) (i miss terra battle...) (can’t believe im planning to give money to apple arcade to play fantasian) (sorry for this rant lol but i guess ive been a mistwalker stan since middle school without really realizing it)
Welp that’s it, that’s all i got. basically our issues with A3! en’s servers were money related and it seems like the only way to try and continue something, even if it is a little pricey and takes some time, is to give money upfront and treat anything farther like a regular ebook that you would purchase.
also, quite unlikely altho 2020 was a bad year for LIBER’s jpn revenue due to cancelled events and such, if they ever do complete the story and shut the jpn servers down as well, i do hope that LIBER treats the jpn fans right and give them the story in some form as well, whether that be putting all the story on their website, keeping the app up, or literally just compiling everything into physical or digital books that you can buy and keep forever rather than just having the app disappear for good.
also, in a way, A3! eng fans aren’t alone in a server halt. the Taiwanese servers got shut down earlier this year it seems and many Taiwanese players have to migrate to the mainland China servers....
i’ll make an epic handshake meme of this soon. edit: ayyyy get your shitty handshake i made in like 5 minutes

CONGRATULATIONS, KIERSTEN! YOU’VE BEEN ACCEPTED FOR THE ROLE OF EPHEMERA.
Admin Rosey: There is something incredibly arresting about Ephemera that I thought would be difficult for someone to capture. There’s something powerful and pivotal that surrounds her - it’s why so many had fallen to their feet in order to worship her. Kiersten, you captured that perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. There line that stuck with me, throughout the application, was this: Ephemera is, quite simply, a terrible beauty. That is what I always saw Ephemera as - terrible and beautiful. The kind that defines the divinity of angels. I am so incredibly excited to welcome Ephemera to the dash, and you to the group! Please create and send in your account, review the information on our CHECKLIST, and follow everyone on the FOLLOW LIST. Welcome to the Holy Land!
OUT OF CHARACTER
Alias | Kiersten
Age | 22
Preferred Pronouns | she/her/hers
Activity Level | I’m entering my final year of university with the lightest credit load I’ve had since sophomore year, but I’m also in the process of applying to post-grad programs ( :/ ) and co-editing an anthology for one of the departments here on campus. With that being said, I hope to get a reply out every other day, or once every two days. However, I’m chaotic and oftentimes mean to hold and/or queue replies, but end up flooding the dash. If I could give you a number, it’d be 6/10, realistically, but I’m pretty much always around on Discord to plot and/or chat!

IN CHARACTER
Character | Ephemera - The Virtue of Prudence (with a FC change to Levy Tran, if you please? uwu)
What drew you to this character? | Ephemera is, quite simply, a terrible beauty. I’ve always been enthralled by angels and their place in different aspects of existence--as messengers, saviors, harbingers of punishment, and more--but I never quite thought of there being an angel like Ephemera and I love her all the more for it. She is a true free spirit, she is the best and worst of God; she is the first mortal to be granted wings and instead of crumbling under the weight of the honor, she rose to the occasion and exceeded expectations. She’s a glorious being deserving of adulation… How could I not be drawn to her?
What future plots do you have in mind for the character? |
i. Just as it was God’s folly to give His beguiling creation wings, it was His folly to dictate that she be named Ephemera. There is power in a name, and Ephemera’s literally translates to “something that is enjoyed for only a short amount of time.” How, then, is it her fault that longstanding peace knows no home in her celestial frame? Because of this, I can easily see the Virtue as a near vulture of sorts, just waiting to capitalize upon the misfortune of those beneath her. I don’t think it would be out of character for the conqueror of an angel to pick at the fraying tendrils of peace throughout the lands while Michael and his advisors are none the wiser, instigating discord whenever she deemed it politically smart—for herself, that is.
ii. It is not often that a deity such as herself sees what could be considered an equal in someone else, but such is the fate of Ephemera and DMITRI. He is the Horseman of Conquest and she is conquest’s keeper—she, who’s known nothing but adulation for her victories as both a mortal and an angel; she, who bested her own Creator at the end… And wouldn’t be opposed to besting the Horsemen, either. I would love to explore the dynamic between these two on a micro-level (with Ephemera trying to strategically mold Dmitri into the harbinger of Death that she believes they are to be, for example), but also the dynamic between them on a macro-level that is inclusive as the HORSEMEN as a unit, as well. One of the oldest tactics of war is to divide and conquer, and the idea crosses the strategist’s mind every time she sees the Pale Horseman. What would it take to force one entity into four, all just ripe for her taking? What would Ephemera give to have such power at her fingertips? Further still, what would she do with that sort of power?
iii. She could have sworn she was careful enough--she disposed of plucked feathers by fire, she made sure to appear wounded when necessary, and more--and still, she was brought to stand trial for her sins against her Creator. Ephemera certainly did not out herself to God, so who did? With this plot, I would love for Ephemera to search for whoever told her Creator (a CHERUBIM, perhaps?) about her stints as a god in her own right. She is haunted by the mistake even though things have turned out well for her because she doesn’t know what she did wrong--and how could she refrain from repeating her mistake if she knows nothing about it?
iv. Ephemera is all-too aware of BASTIEN’s obsession with her--her battle stories, her military presence, her sharp mind--and is often annoyed by his incessant behavior, as she finds it difficult to believe that the mortal hasn’t yet realized her disinterest in him stems from the fact that she’s deemed him unworthy of her undivided attention. The angel knows that the Avalos man greedily laps at whatever scraps she deigns to toss his way, and, sometimes, the information she tosses his way is rotten; sometimes, she gives half-truths and embellished accounts of her encyclopedic war accounts, or gives withering comments about his militaristic plans even if she agrees with them for two reasons. The first is that she hopes it negatively impacts the whelp of a mortal enough to leave her alone, and the second is that she hopes it also negatively impacts the mortals’ military forces--especially as times become more and more strenuous between demons, angels, and mortals.
v. Eternity is a long time to exist without amusement and she is so grateful for CADE BEKKER and his utter disdain for everything, for he is her favorite plaything. She knows he sees her as a beast waiting to be befelled, but does he not know that the Virtue evaded and had a hand in the death of God and has no qualms about doing the same to him? She is content to watch him seethe, but she wants more. I love the idea of Ephemera taunting Cade so much that it eventually does end in a fight--but one that he started, one that she can justify to herself and the others. A Virtue versus a Gifted… What a bellicose event that would be!
vi. The GIFTED are the mortals that catch Ephemera’s attention with begrudging ease (even more so than the REINCARNATED), and of the Gifted, she takes most caution around REVNA VOLK. The Virtue’s mind is her prized possession, and Revna’s very existence serves as a threat to it; as such, Ephemera is keen on keeping an eye on the mortal to ensure that she’s not blindsided by anything she does; when she looks at Revna, she feels feelings of bitterness--not because she thinks she’ll ever fall victim to the Daughter of Lies’ tricks, but because God’s divinity makes a mockery out of her as it settles in Revna’s bones. (Even in death, it seems that God intends to taunt her and keep her chained to Him in some way). This one is really open-ended and it can go a couple of ways: with the angel trying to take Revna under her wing in order to keep herself safe (similar to the way in which God brought her closer to Him despite her transgressions against Him), or she could work to make Revna’s life difficult in the Holy Land by advocating for things that would negatively impact her or keep her from gaining any more traction in the political realm.
vii. They say that like calls to like and that both angels and demons are but two halves of the same coin—and, perhaps, in the rawest of terms, they are correct. Like the demon that she is, SALOME pulls a viciousness from Ephemera that reminds the angel of the Old Testament God—of a God that was divinely terrible and possessed a haughtiness that so often informed the deliverance of punishments to those who couldn’t help but fall short of the expectations placed on their incapable shoulders. God found it easy to lose Himself in His throes of battle and glory and passion, and there’s a part of Ephemera that clings to His likeness despite her repeated successes at besting Him; she, too, finds herself susceptible to His same weakness.
Most mistakes made by the Virtue of Prudence are never capitalized on, as they’re so few and far between and tend not to be egregious enough to exploit; however, time is as merciless as she, and it exposes what few chinks do exist in Ephemera’s armor while also giving Salome time to start to understand. I’m really excited to play out the relationship between these two beings, especially as Ephemera simultaneously believes she’s better than Salome, but knows Salome can capitalize on her mistakes--and oh, how she detests the way the demon smiles when she knows the angel has made an error!
viii. Ephemera feels as though she chose MICHAEL as much as he chose her, which is why she feels comfortable enough to lord her part in Caelum’s creation over his head, should he begin to forget that it was her military brainchild that led to God being tossed from Heaven and her battalions that stifled the even the strongest of Heretic strikes. For now, she is content to remain by his side because he affords her freedoms that God was too cowardly to, but ephemera are not meant to be enjoyed for eternity. What would it take to turn the mind against the body, the Virtue against the one who bequeathed her such an honor? How would the King of Caelum react to being extorted, in a sense, by his own military advisor?
Are you comfortable with killing off your character? | Yea! It be like that sometimes but so long as it makes sense, serves the plot, and befits the glorious conqueror that is Ephemera I am down to clown uwu
IN DEPTH
Driving Character Motivation |
(Ephemera has always been divine, but she’s not always been an angel; as such, her driving motivation has changed with her!)
As a MORTAL, Ephemera was driven by SUCCESS. Her life was hard-won and something she snatched without so much of a second thought; she wanted to be brilliant, and so she was. She was the first woman to rally her people to prestige and glory and led them to prosperity with her wisdom and iron-clad fist; she made a lover out of Death time and time again, but always evaded both it and God because she is bigger than them both and her successes attest to this.
As an ANGEL, however, she quickly realized that successes (even awe-inspiring ones like her own) were dimes a dozen and was left wanting more, wanting something of substance in an eternal life rather than worshipping God without end. She found solace in her own FREE WILL and never looked back—but who can blame her, as she is only adhering to God’s wish for His beloved creations? Ephemera values herself and her freedom above all else, but even she knows that the strongest of generals need legions behind them; she stays aligned with Michael and his kingdom because she wants to, not because she must.
In-Character Para Sample |
“What do you have to say for yourself, my child?”
She expects nothing less from God, who loves her so that He wishes to give her a chance to explain herself. Fool, she defiantly thinks as she stands at the throne of her Creator, head unbowed and expression unfazed. The angel waits to respond, forcing an uncomfortable silence upon them both--and God, enraptured with His own work, allows her to do so and again bring attention to His folly. He is steadfast in His love and grace with her especially, as she is closer to his truest loves--his mortals--than any of the other celestial beings that gather to watch the sentencing of the woman whom they believed never truly deserved her place among beings as divine as themselves.
Ephemera knows what is expected of her: utter repentance, a grand show of regret and sorrow, and a promise to never again commit such an offense against her wondrous Maker again. She has seen it before and it only further stoked her ire against the selfish God that holds her here in a farce of a trial in an attempt to break her will and reinstate His place as both the Alpha and Omega. She will now bow nor will she beg for forgiveness; if anything, He should be prostrate at her throne, begging for her forgiveness as it is His wretched desire to keep his favorite mortal in his dominion like she is a pet. She is unapologetic as she responds, voice unwavering: “I have done no different than You have done Yourself.”
The silence of the throne room shatters. Cherubim cry out in disgust at such blasphemy; Seraphim gasp and whisper, eyes wide with disgust that someone they called a comrade would do something so heinous. God raises a hand and the outcries stop; He looks to his masterpiece expectantly, and Ephemera continues, “In the presence of Your own omniscience, I spent centuries disguising myself as a mortal to once again feel more than loathing.”
The pain that flashes across His face is genuine and full of agony; it’s an expression Ephemera knows because she’s seen it flit across the visages of others she’s conquered throughout her lifetimes as Athena and Nike, Minerva and Freya. And still, she does not bend at her knees and profess her love; she remains upright and earnest--and how could she not, when she’s done nothing wrong?
“My creation,” God says, “you know the cost of such transgressions.”
She does. She’s heard tales of Moloch and Chemosh and Dagon; she knows the penalty of disobedience is the stripping of wings from bodies. She’s been told of the excruciating pain, of the near demonic screams that spilled from the angels’ lips as God punished them enough to traumatize them with pain, but not enough to offer the sweet outlet of ceasing to exist--and yet, she is more bothered by His language. Ephemera can’t help but bristle as He, even when threatening her with a wingless existence, lays claim to her as though she did not mold herself into the wonder that she is.
“Rip my wings off.” It’s a bold challenge that once again riles the watching masses. They call her a heretic, a foolhardy mortal who deserves to return from the same dust from which she came--and God does nothing but drink in the sight of the beguiling creature at His throne that refuses to pledge her loyalty to Him and not herself.
How can He condemn her to such a painful existence? She is one of his finest creations.
He lifts a mighty hand and she braces herself for pain, but does not balk or cower. His fingertips run down her ivory plumage, paying careful attention to the places she plucked to masquerade as a mortal. Ephemera clenches her jaw and it remains locked even as His touch leaves her wings.
“How could I, my Ephemera?” And so, He decides to draw her closer to Him still in spite of her blatant sins against him. She is a Seraphim--His Seraphim--and He all but chains her to Him by revoking her privilege to traverse alongside mortals and ordering that she stay close to His side via pretentious titles such as general, His strategist, His masterpiece, and more.
Ephemera loathes Him all the more for it.

headcanons.
The Virtue’s wings seem to mimic her sword, in the sense that they, too, glisten as though they were cut from unforgiving ice. Ephemera’s lush, ivory plumage is, upon close inspection, flecked with gold; however, the silver tips of her feathers are far more noticeable, allowing for a more ice-like appearance. When she used to parade as a mortal, she would pluck her own feathers to make her wings less full and easier to conceal. It must be God’s favor, then, that still shines on her, as there is no evidence--save for the phantom sensations prickling against her skin--of her past actions.
Ephemera’s companions throughout her eternal existence have varied, and they are often depicted at her side by the devoted mortals that dubbed her their goddesses--Nike, Athena, Freya, and Minerva--and etched her glorious likeliness into word, gold, and marble. Her companions, too, came from those devoted mortals, and Ephemera strategically chose which animals to accept as gifts and keep at her side. These animals, kept by the angel throughout her stints as different mortal deities, include: a barn owl, a white King Cobra, a wild boar, and a silver dapple Arabian horse.
No longer needing an animal to symbolize herself to the mortals of the Old World, Ephemera made the decision to stop keeping companions and instead chose to focus on plans to overthrow God. Since then, however, the angel has acquired a red fox companion--but if you ask her, she would assert that the fox chose her, as the animal followed her home from the forest one night. Ephemera ignored the vixen at first, but soon found herself amused by her wit and overall penchant for chaos. Ephemera named the fox Gloria--a nod to the Latin word ‘gloriae’ that is synonymous with immortal glory, fame, renown, praise, and honor.
The Virtue of Prudence keeps no written records of her strategies, aside from the plans she gave Michael in response to and as a show of her allegiance to the dissatisfaction that led to the usurping of God.
Ephemera is, in some capacity, always prepared for battle. Conquest and the desire for victory run rampantly through her veins, and growing comfortable in her surroundings is tantamount to accepting defeat and complacency--both of which, of course, are absolutely unacceptable for this divine conqueror. Because of this, the angel is incredibly observant and never leaves without her sword, even though she has rarely used it since the quelling of the God and, subsequently, Heretics.

Seven Years of Writing Fanfics
I’m being a little premature- I’ll celebrate seven years of writing as ahiddenpath in September- but I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I’ve learned. Please read on if you want to hear about the writing habits I wish I had when I started in 2012, and about the habits I wish I didn’t have back then!
I’ll also be talking about my writing plans in general. Check it out below the cut!
1.) Make a story bible.
A story bible is a reference document for your story. Before you post a new fic, I strongly suggest creating one. For digimon specifically, this means making some choices before you begin:
Which version of the character names will you use? Do you intend to remain consistent with this choice? For example, I’ve seen a lot of writers use Japanese character names and English digimon names. Will you use official honorifics? Custom honorifics? Will you use terminology from one translation of the show, or a mashup?
Make these choices upfront, create reference charts, and remain consistent.
After that, you can also keep references for topics such as characterization details (if you say that Bob’s favorite drink is coffee in one chapter and tea twenty chapters later, be prepared for a flood of comments pointing out the inconsistency), setting details, and anything that you don’t want to forget. Spending half an hour hunting down a silly detail instead of writing is a huge bummer.
Growing Up with You is my worst offender of ‘problems a story bible would have fixed.’ It’s got... every issue you can imagine, lol! For example, pairing Hikari with Gatomon (instead of Tailmon), using ‘digitama’ and ‘digimental’ interchangeably in the 02 arc, using the English terms for evolution stages while using Japanese names for other things, confusing Bakemon and Bakumon, it’s a mess. It’s so bad that a complete, painstaking edit is the only thing that can fix it... Which is enough to make me weep, given that the story is over 400K words long.
Organize yourself before you start. Here’s a link to some printable Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 references.
2.) Avoid Longfics.
I know I’ve said this before, but it bears repeating. NEVER PUBLISH A NEW STORY WITHOUT HAVING AN ENDING IN SIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING.
I’m not saying you can’t write huge, epic tales. God knows I’m unlikely to stop doing that. But, if I could go back in time, I would separate Growing Up with You into four fics. It would be something like this:
Growing Up with You I: Childhood
Growing Up with You II: Digimon Adventure
Growing Up with You III: Liminal Space
Growing Up with You IV: Digimon Adventure 02
I’m sure some arcs would be longer than others, but this way, I’d have four stories that are roughly 100K words long.
A lot of folks just... don’t want to read a 400K story. It’s intimidating, man! Although it varies by genre, the average word count for a fiction novel aimed at adults is 80K words. That 400K fic is like FIVE NOVELS, DUDE!!!! That’s a commitment for readers!
Shorter stories are more reader friendly, but there’s also a huge benefit to you, the writer. Separating your longfic into multiple stories allows you more opportunities to write towards an ending. Breaking your story into digestible chunks decreases the writing paralysis that comes with being nowhere near the ending. It also cuts back on meandering chapters that don’t carry the narrative closer to that ending. Furthermore, thinking of the story in arcs before you start writing forces you to plan more... Something I never did in 2012!!!!
Best of all, once you reach the end of an arc, you can take a break before launching the next one. It’s hard on a writer to continue endlessly producing without a break. It’s hard on a reader to hit the final available chapter in a fic and wonder if it will ever update again. But if you complete an arc and take a break to plan and write a few buffer chapters, the tension and impatience is gone for your audience, and you get to breathe. It’s a win-win!
3.) Avoid long chapters.
Back in 2012, I often posted chapters that were 10K words and longer! Here are some benefits to posting shorter updates more frequently:
-Shorter wait times between updates.
Let’s say your planned chapter is 15K words long. I could update my story once in the span of a month, or I could break the chapter into three parts and update three times in a month! This keeps readers happy and interested in your work.
Over time, you’ll develop the ability to create sub arcs/movements, finding spots to break them up into separate updates. This also creates natural moments for cliffhangers, tension, and mini resolutions. It’s a great way to insert more moods and movement into your narrative.
-More exposure for your story.
Every time you update your fanfic, it gets pushed to the top of the update list on fanfiction.net or AO3. The more you update it, the more hits your story will receive, thanks to all the extra time it will spend on the first page of newly-updated fics.
-Easier editing.
I do my best editing when I’m working with 5K words or fewer at a time. Personally, I can only focus on close editing for about 90 minutes before I start missing mistakes and forgetting details. I could edit a 10K word update in two sittings, but then it’s possible to forget about details and moods from the previous editing session! So, unless your story bible is really hardcore, your editing process could benefit from shorter updates.
-More feedback/support
I have a few amazing readers who leave some form of feedback/appreciation for me whenever I post a new chapter. A supported writer is a happy, productive writer! More updates means more chances for feedback and support from your readers, which in turn can fuel and direct your writing! Again, everyone wins! (Thanks, guys, I love you!).
4.) Publish your story on both fanfiction.net and AO3.
Why reach one audience when you could potentially reach two? There are plenty of readers who only use one platform or the other.
At this point, it would be ridiculously difficult to post my 70+ chapter fanfics to AO3... Do yourself a favor and post to both from the start!
5.) Remember: writing and editing are two separate processes.
Guys guys guys guys guys. Lemme be real here.
I used to painstakingly write a first draft, check for spelling/grammar errors on my word processor, and then post it.
Here’s what my process looks like now: word vomit a first draft, do an edit in my word processor, print the edited draft, make edits on paper, transfer edits to word processor, print new draft, make edits on paper, transfer edits to word processor, final read through, post
If my new method looks more time intensive... In a way, it is, but in a way, it isn’t? I bang out that first rough draft without a care in the world, where I used to agonize over every word. Agonizing is not fun. Word vomiting can produce some, ah, discouraging results, but it feels like creative play. It’s fun, it’s flexible, it’s fast... And you can fix it later through the magic of editing. And if you’re having fun, you’ll keep writing. If you’re agonizing, you’ll find yourself making excuses to avoid writing.
Plus, my current method produces tighter, more deliberate prose, while maintaining the freedom and energy of word vomiting... And avoiding the angst and doubt. This is my best defense against writing paralysis and my greatest weapon in the battle of producing words.
My method can’t be right for everyone, but I do encourage you to try it out, especially if your writing hasn’t been joyful lately.
6.) Don’t run too many fics at one time.
I encourage writers to have one longer fic open and one shorter fic, preferably of different tones/settings/main characters. This gives you a way to keep writing when you’re sick of one project without bogging you down.
You will likely have some readers who love everything you do (god bless), but many people have particular genre, character, and setting preferences. If you have three fics open, then readers of any one story have to wait much longer for the next update while you alternate updating each fic.
And more importantly, having a ton of open stories just... It feels heavy, guys. It’s a weight, a pressure. Trust me. Forgive me, fanfic gods, for I have sinned.
7.) Maintain a buffer
Okay, so my Nanowrimo project for 2018 was to write 50,000 words for After August, my current open fic. By the end of the month, I had a roughly 80% complete first draft of the entire fic.
Guys! Guys! It’s so cool to know exactly where the story is going, from start to finish. My editing is so deliberate on this piece! I can spot repetition and inconsistencies, since the draft is printed and sitting in front of me in a binder. I can tweak emphasis and maintain more balance between character appearances. It’s a whole new ballpark for me, someone who always wrote one update at a time and posted it upon completion (or worse, wrote ahead and lost the material when I changed my mind about the plot before reaching that future point).
Plus, even if my life gets extra busy or hard, I can still maintain my updating schedule. I can print out a chapter, take it to work, and do hard edits during my lunch break (I realize that makes me antisocial, but have you ever endured coworkers telling you all of their problems while you try to eat a sandwich in peace? The editing is much more fun. I am antisocial, is what I’m saying. Born into it, baby).
Regular updates are a big part of maintaining steady readership, so having a buffer both increases the quality of your work (since you know where the story is going for sure) and ensures that more people read it. Awww yisssss.
Okay, well, my concentration is gone now, so that’s the end of my advice! If I think of anything else, maybe I’ll add it?
I do want to touch base with my writing plans, though. Currently, of course, my goal is to complete After August. If I can post one chapter per week, it will be compete in early March, but I’m going to aim for completing the story in May, to allow for any issues that might come up (for example, Kingdom Hearts III is coming out soon!).
After that, I want to complete Seeking Resonance... Although I have no idea how long that will take? I just know that the heavy atmosphere was really starting to weigh on me.
After that... Well, do you remember that survey I made a while back? It looks like my next project should probably be completing Four Years.
I might simultaneously work on one of these two stories and Tales of REM, or maybe I’ll alternate between SR and FY for a while? To be honest, though, I would really like to wrap up SR as soon as I can.
Either way, completion is the name of the game this year. Please look forward to it! Let me know if you have any ideas for future fics, or if you have a favorite from my list of potential future projects!

VIXX “Scentist” analysis based on “Perfume”, by P. Suskind PART III – The tracklist
“Scentist” is definitely one of my favorite songs/ music videos/ concepts in kpop so last year, when I got to know it was based on a book, I went after and read it. Since then I’ve been wanting to share an analysis focused on more direct references to Suskind’s story.
In PART III, I’ll be giving my interpretation on how the tracks in the album fit the same concept.
*You can check “Part I” for my description of the story (or the book itself) to understand them a little better and also see my thoughts on the lyrics of “Scentist” on “Part II”!
*Sorry again for the long post (I talk too much lol)! :)
Some considerations i. I didn’t originally read the book in English, so I’m using my own translations – wich can differ from other editions.
ii. This is somewhat a personal interpretation; one could read the same book and have different opinions. Feel free to tell me your thoughts about it :^)
iii. Considering that I’m basing this off of a translation and that neither Korean or English are my first languages, it influences in my interpretation.
iv. As referred before, English is not my first language. Feel free to let me know about any mistakes.
v. Mind that this analysis contains SPOILERS of the book.
vi. This post makes reference to sensitive subjects (such as violence), like the book itself.
Intoduction As I’ve explained in Part II, it’s possible to find several references through the lyrics of “Scentist” that contextualize the story of the main character Grenouille, focusing mainly is some of the episodes. But, paying attention to all of the tracks in EAU DE VIXX, we realize all of them add on to work as a complement to the plot.
In my opinion, most of them were made based in themes that can be found as parts of the construction of the book.
I’ll try to explain what’s each of these central points (with exception to “Good Day”, “Navy and Shining Gold” and “Resemble”(닮아)).
◄◄ ▋▋ ►►….NOW PLAYING –VIXX 3rd ALBUM “EAU DE VIXX”….
TRACK 2: ODD SENSE – The title track wannabe
From a starting point, a thought I had about this song is that, if this album was not inspired by a dark story, and “Perfume” was about a sexy relationship based in scents, “Odd Sense” would have been “Scentist”. And this is one of best forms I can describe it! In a way it’s a kind of twin opposite to the title track.
While “Scentist” is focused on the dark side of his fixation, “Odd Sense” is about intense attraction, approaching more a way of satisfying that compulsion – as, in my opinion, the title track is more observative, more of a threatening idealization of his object of fascination.
It could be very well a representation of a closer look into Grenouille’s logic behind his actions or feelings. The way his extremely sensible ability of smelling (that “Odd sense”) causes him to be completely driven by a hopeless desire or passion.
Again, if we compare: “Scentist” is almost about how he suffers from that longing (and it’s methodical), while “Odd Sense” is about how he is delighted by that provocation (it’s impulse).
It is as if his addiction feeds on itself – which we can see through the lyrics, such as: “Shake hard, I just get more addicted”;
“I crave it, it’s fine if I lose my breath I desire it more, I’ll destroy it with you” or
“Fall into the light that only I can see Like an intense addiction keep breathing in”
Both lyrics go deep in the matter of desire.
But that’s also a self consuming way of living for him (just like the story in the book develops itself), the more he approaches his objectives: “Filled with your scent, I just go crazy You come to me, come closer to me Fill me with your scent, it’s fine even if I disappear”
The two tracks share some things: I believe both surround similar episodes of the book – his seclusion at the cave, where he “drinks up” his scent’s memories; his discovery and chase after the special fragrances (and its owner).
Also common to “Scentist”, there are several repetitions to the idea of permeation. There are also associations with color and light.
What’s interesting for me, is how we completely shift the emotion and impression of the songs by changing the melody and tone.
TRACK 3: SILENCE – The hopeless love
In my opinion, all of the songs can be connected to a fantasy inside Grenouille’s imagination motivated by his (longing for) love – even he says it’s only for the sake of getting the scents.
“Silence” seems to address a hopeless love, once the idealized person he desires “cannot” respond. After all, he’s the one obsessed with something they are not even aware of – in a disturbingly intense way. The love and attention he seeks gives of a sort of reflective feeling. Since he does not have a smell for himself, but keeps on being bewitched by these special fragrances, he figures that’s the way to be loved – to be just like them. And we must remember that, for him, what characterized something in the world as despicable or worthy of affection, was the smell. That’s his unique way of understanding the world. So he is lead to believe that’s a solution (which shows to be slightly true and impossible – due to his specific ability – throughout the book).
The lyrics seem to express the frustration in not being able to be part of this connection, as it looks like he’s wishing to worship that feeling but always ends up destroying it, driven by the pressure caused by his impulsiveness. “The silence suffocates me” and “I’m a Medusa there’s only silence left for my ears” (the idea he kills what he “lays his eyes on”, also interesting due to the repetion of “keep an eye on it babe”, during the song).
He also indicates a belief that he needs that girl to be set free from that prison – and that he’ll for sure accomplish that. “I wait for you While turning round and round in this quietness”
“It seems like you have something too It seems like I’ll have it”
And, at the same time, he’s scared of showing the “imcomplete” and imperfect Grenouille he is without it: “Don’t look at me locked in darkness Imprisoned in silence”
TRACK 4 and 5: MY VALENTINE and CIRCLE – The idealistic love
As we must have realized by now, our main character has some serious problems discerning limits between wanting and getting.
I believe these two tracks stress the idea of how he thinks of these scents (and consequently, in a way, their owners) as complements to his existence. When brought in line with everything worked, that turns into a delusion for an idealistic love. It also revolves to his conception of making them/the girls eternal through a perfume, and his own temporal pace – which seems to operate a little differently, like “true love”.
Like shown in “My Valentine”: “Alone I’m incomplete, emptiness becomes routine”
“Say it one more time That I am everything, that you’ve never stayed In forever like this”
It’s also indifferent for him if they are real or kept in his inner kingdom, as memories (even more connected to idealization): “Whether my eyes are closed or open As long as you are somewhere in my world, it’s fine”
And, once again, that self consumption, that goes along with a similar line in “Odd Sense”, ans points, after all, to and absence of self love; which completes that cycle of needing something to reflect on – the girls: “It’s fine if I disappear while chasing after you”
“Circle” adds up to that conviction that they are a perfect match: “There’s no error when you add us together” and “I want to believe it It’s u and me”
It’s nice to note that the circle symbolism makes reference to perfection, totality, eternity, cycles and even God – which it’s a sort of image the boy had of himself.
TRACK 7: ESCAPE – Grenouille, the runaway by excellence
If we pay attention, Grenouille was, somehow, always on the run. He was getting away from the people who didn’t want him around (and the people he didn’t want around). And most of the book is based of on the story of his journey.
Some of the most remarking ways we see that are: when he goes on a trip in search for learning but, amidst his desperation to get rid of the suffocating human smell, self-isolates in a far mountain. After a long time in there, a need for running away from himself is evoked and he begins a new search in order to, ultimately, transform who he was. When he is targeted as the culprit and, at the end, again drowned is his own thoughts, from his existence.
The lyrics also brings us to think that the internal weight he was constantly under caused a desire to escape. A side of him that wants to get away from that domination he couldn’t control – which was still his inner persona as well. Grenouille’s biggest battle was against himself and the conflicts between his desires, his actions and sudden clashes with reality. The practical importance of his goal versus the limit he can endure.
“The memories we’ve gone through Have no special meaning to me But I’m not saying the time that I loved you Was a lie”
It also reveals his fear of showing himself and of failure – so it’s better to give up and flee: “But if you saw me like this, you would probably have left me”
TRACK 8: TRIGGER – The lack of self control
Lastly, “Trigger” also touches on the topic of the struggle with self. In this track, he assumes he is not the one in charge of taking choices. He’s guided to act by a foreign sort of force (or so he believes).
It also resonates with the concept of playing with desire, but also expecting for it to hit you. He wants to be “shot”, he challenges that force to provide him the feeling the keeps him focused on his objective, like a dangerous game, that requires a proper timing (because, once more, this is a self sufficient obsession). “Like when you have only one shot to hit a target I’m just waiting for you”
In another way, it’s about finding a motive that comes from outside to justify something that’s actually internal. “You stole me in one short moment I even helplessly surrendered”
and “Your focus on me, your choice of me”
Again, if we reflect on the notion of time in this work, “Trigger” strangely looks like, deep inside, in a fraction of second (maybe when he first started detecting the first fragrance in the streets of Paris), there was a part of Grenouille that foresaw what was coming in his way. This song sounds like a prevision of the future and an expectation of “destiny”.
This could have been caused by his unconsciousness, since that was one of the things he expressed aspire – a deeper meaning to being alive. “Our beginning is up to you” and “Shoot accurately at me, leave a trace of yourself So that it can’t be undone, so that I can’t deny it”
Concluding... In my opinion, EAU DE VIXX is a really impressing album when we stop to look at how everything was constructed and put together to form unity around the concept “Perfume” presents.
The lyrics and the vibe the songs express are always in sync with Grenouille’s dark mind, his inner conflict; but also the elegance, detail, nuances or intensity involving the world of perfumes and scents.
Thank you so much for reading! I plan on continuing with this and analyze the other aspects related to “EAU de VIXX”, so please wait for it!

I do regret it. So I thought it had no meaning.
Page 3
T: Nanoka…
Nanoka, where
Doctor: You mustn’t get up! Calm down.
T: Where is Nanoka
Doctor: Nano ka?
Nurse: Probably the name of the girl who fell.
Page 4
Doctor: Ah, she’s okay. She’s fine.
Her life was not in serious danger so you can calm down.
Nurse: Doctor, the IV is dripping.
Doctor: It’s fine. Bring me a stretcher.
Nurse: Yes, sir.
Page 5
K: Yo
You awake?
T: …Kensuke…
How long have I been asleep…
K: Woah
Oh no~ don’t get up. You need to rest.
Page 6
T: Where…is Nanoka…
Is she safe?
K: Yep. She has very few injuries, almost completely unscathed.
And Hayata only injured his shoulder.
T: I’m dizzy…
K: So go back to sleep
Your father, Mr. Uesugi, was here, but you just missed him.
As well as auntie (Mrs. Uesugi) to bring a change of clothes.**
T: My father?
…came here willingly?
Page 7
K: …ah well
I think they came to hit the nail right on the head. ***
T: Nail?
K: The news.
It’s not good quality because I recorded it with my phone but you can still hear it.
T: ----wha----
Page 8
T: What is this
Two students got confused and fell…?
Wrong!
That’s not true. I originally had Nanoka and-
K: “I originally had Nanoka”?
---just what
Are you trying to say?
…Karasuma Ouji.
So he really was insane.
Page 9
T: So you know about Karasuma Ouji
K: That’s because Hayata had asked me to investigate
T: That’s right. Where is Karasuma?
K: He is in critical condition.
A cervical vertebra fracture. It seems he will remain in this place.
But right now, nothing is confirmed,
Because he is in a coma.
T: ………
K: I know what you’re thinking but
It is what it is.
Page 10
K: Two people panicked when they saw the smoke and thought it was a real fire.
Hayata injured his shoulder while trying to save them and
You found the two perpetrators and got into a fight with them.
I think it’s best not to say anything unnecessary.
T: Don’t be ridiculous!
Besides, Nanoka and Hayata know the real story.
K: Nanoka-chan doesn’t remember it.
She has memory loss.
T: What?
K: Memory loss is often resulted from accidents that involves life threatening circumstances or shock, right?
Page 11
T: In that case…
If it’s like this…I must tell the truth…
K: The truth that this was all about you obsession with one girl?
If you were to say that, the media wouldn’t be curious about the coma victim or you two.
Rather, wouldn’t they want to pursue the girl that captured the hearts of three suitors?
Page 12
T: -------…
K: …Sorry, I’m not trying to be mean
But
Even if it’s painful, think this through.
[It is more painful for---------…]
-
K: So she’s leaving the hospital tomorrow, right?
Are you still not going to visit Nanoka’s room?
Page 13
H: …I’m scared…
K: Well, how could you know?
If you appear before her,
She may respond, “Oh, Hayata-kun!” She might do the unexpected and remember you…
There is a reason you can’t think that way.
Is it something like that?
O: “You as well”
Page 14 (raws resume here)
O: “No matter how much you try to protect all you hold dear,
There’s always a chance you might just lose what you care about.”
H: …he took it.
K: Huh?
Page 15
Y: Uesugi-kun! You’re already healed?
Page 16
T: No, I left before my rehab finished.
Y: Is that so.
T: …and Nanoka?
Y: She has been coming to school but shows up during second period.
So she’s fine.
T: Is that so.
Y: The teacher explained everything and instructed that class to continue on as normal.
T: …normal
Y: Nanoka knows the story from the news.
Page 17
Y: …I don’t know what really happened but
I know what the news is reporting is different from what actually happened.
T: [Actually, I]
Y: I have a person I want to protect so I will leave it as it is.
Sorry
But if Nanoka remembers…I might change my mind.
T: [For the Nanoka who does not understand]
Page 18
T: [I have to make up for what I tried to do.]
[Nanoka.]
Page 19
T: Ugh…
[Nanoka.]
[Nanoka.]
Page 20
N: Takato-kun…?
…Ah
So you really did transfer here… I heard about it but it really didn’t sink in.
…is your body okay?
I heard you got injured by the intruders…
Page 21
T: That’s wrong!
N: …I’m sorry
I
Do not remember what happened before I fell
T: …um, well
Is it inconvenient?
Page 22
N: Well…somehow I cannot tell the distance between my friends and me.
Yuuko and Chisato have been amazing…they are so friendly and kind.
I wonder when we became such good friends.
So
I am trying hard to connect with them.
You’re going to the classroom, right? The lesson is about to start.
T: …wha-
Page 23
T: Nanoka!
There was no way you could know this but
…I have always
I have always put my own feelings first without thinking about your feelings…
And
Because of that
Page 24
T: I tried to make your future
Shaped to fit my narrative.
N: Sorry but
I already knew that.
…why
I wonder why this is the case.
I got tired.
Page 25
N: You lied to everyone, Takato-kun.
I didn’t do that. You lied and your lies are being conveyed as the truth.
T: That’s…I
[I want to protect you.]
I was afraid. I did not know what to do.
There was so much I wanted to tell you.
N: Enough already.
T: [Oh, I see.]
Page 26
T: [It’s already over.]
…that’s right.
Nanoka
I was horrible.
I’m stupid
And bad.
I am truly the worst.
To the extent that I didn’t realize what I was doing.
Page 27
T: I loved you, Nanoka.
-
H: Half a year…
I don’t know if that amount of time
Is long or short to Ayase-san.
Half a year ago, from the moment I met her and now
That perfect time period was ripped apart from her memories.
Page 28
H: I am the only one.
What disappeared from Ayase-san is me and me alone.
-
N: Stop it!
I heard you secretly talking about me!
Takato-kun
You said “I broke up with her first.”
Page 29
N: The fact that you said “She was a different person than I thought”, I’m already aware!
T: [Wait a minute]
[Up until now, just how much missing time]
[Did you forget?]
N: …you said you loved me
Page 30
N: You said you loved me but
Why are you telling me this now!?
T: [The Nanoka who lost her memory of me and the me she sees now]
Page 31
T: [Just where on earth is she connecting her memory from?]
*I’m not really sure what the text is trying to say here - something about love and regrets.
**It seems Kensuke is saying “auntie” here and I believe he is talking about Takato’s mom but also possible he may be talking about a nurse.
***Every time I tried to translate this on Google, it kept mentioning a nail so I believe they are using the expression “hit the nail on the head” which means “to find the right answer.”
