It's coming up on seven whole months of Itey being in America, and they've been some of the most eventful months of his life. He's having a great time, really, he is! It's just, especially with his birthday coming up, he wouldn't mind some reminders of home every now and again.

Itey playing with his suspenders + what his voice sounds like

Itey likes to play with his suspenders a lot, I've compiled gifs of all the times he does it. He does this when he's happy, nervous, bored, concentrating etc. Basically all the time.

For some reason, Itey seems to get really turned on by Jack here. Or maybe by David? because he's looking at David the whole time. Itey's wetting his lips and even moving his tongue around in his mouth. More evidence below. (Noir has a cameo in the back of the 3rd gif, wiping sweat off his forehead.)

Now he's stroking his lip. What do you call an Itey lip bite?

Itey's hands goes straight towards his suspenders as soon as he's stationary.

Ever wondered what Itey sounds like? Even though Itey doesn't speak in the movie, there's a hint to what he sounds like. Whenever the camera is focused on a Newsie singing, their voice usually get louder than the rest. At the beginning of the movie during Carrying the Banner, in the part where Itey puts on his hat, there's a voice louder than the others at "a mighty fine life," so that's probably Itey's voice.

Who is def in love with Lorenzo (Itey)

don’t even get me started on my itey rant. one time was probably one time too many.

in current definitions, “snitch” means to essentially rat someone out. this definition doesn’t really transcend as far as 1990, as it also to means to steal. that’s likely the definition that was used by the newsies, so it’s the one we’re using.

snitch is an older newsie in 92sies, and yes, he’s definitely in love with his best friend, itey. does itey know this? debatable. mush and blink definitely know (he’s not exactly subtle), and tease him about it relentlessly (kind of hypocritical, honestly, considering how they act around each other). but snitch nearly broke his own nose the first time he saw lorenzo due to an unfortunately placed rock and the sudden lack of conscious thought occurring in his brain.

also, he’s one of those idiots who thinks flirting is insulting the other person. cue interactions with snitch going, “I like- I mean, you’ve got something on your face. it looks stupid.” and itey, who doesn’t actually have anything on his face, scrubbing at the spot snitch pointed out. “thanks, I guess?”

snitch became a newsie when his dad died, and when he and his sister were left on their own. honestly? he did it by accident. he was trying to nab some coins from a sleeping kid (who he didn’t know was a newsie named mush), and got caught with his hand in their bag by blink, who came in swinging a stick like a sword and yelling at the top of his lungs.

mush takes pity on the kid, because he’s clearly terrified, and they drag him to the distribution booth, introducing him as ‘the kid who tried to snitch some dimes from mush here’. and- ta da! snitch was born.

(yes, I’m making another name ironic for my own personal enjoyment. and what of it?) (also, remind me to do another mush post later. my first one was criminally small.)

he’s not the best at selling, admittedly. he doesn’t always know what to say, and is a VERY bad actor. but he gets better, at least enough to make a small living. he brings it home at night for food for him and his sister, and goes back to try to make a little more in the morning. it’s not fun, or sustainable by any means, but snitch makes due.

not by stealing, though. he’s still really bad at that.

when they go on strike, he’s one of the first to join the union. later, itey finds him in a dark alley, panicking about money and how he was going to explain himself to his sister. they bicker until he calms down, and then he (accidentally) (he doesn’t really do anything on purpose. he just has really shitty luck) trips into itey and they kiss.

the next time is less of an accident, but itey doesn’t need to know that.

My personal headcanons for the Newsies' names!

Jack “Cowboy” Kelly: Francis Malcolm Sullivan (canon)

Racetrack: Ed Higgins (historically accurate, I put him as having an Italian mother and Irish father, both Catholic because Race crosses himself during the nun scene)

Crutchy: Elijah Morris (surname is historically accurate, friendly reminder that Crutch Morris was Jewish and so is Crutchy)

Boots: Benjamin Arbus (surname looks like it’s widely accepted fanon, not sure about the first name)

Kid Blink: Louis Baletti (historically accurate, definitely has an Italian father at the least)

Mush: Nicholas Meyers (surname is historically accurate and I’m pretty sure the real Mush was named Nick)

Bumlets: Damian Vasquez/Damián Vásquez (Puerto Rican name, name anglicized after immigration)

Skittery: Roman Kučera (Czech name, @jackcowboyhero came up with this and I just love it so much)

Snoddy: Calvin Angier (also from @jackcowboyhero)

Specs: Leopold Bauer (German name)

Dutchy: Cas Hendriksen (Dutch name, Dutchy was commonly used for Dutch and German immigrants)

Itey: Elio Olivieri (Italian name, Itey was commonly used for Italian immigrants)

Flipper: Charles “Charlie” Daley (I’ve officially chosen Flipper as his newsie nickname because it’s more popular and less ridiculous than Crazy Legs, Bumlets still calls him Charlie though)

Tumbler: Andy (another @jackcowboyhero name that I’ve adopted, he uses Kučera when necessary but doesn’t remember his actual last name)

Ten-Pin: Simon Butler

I prefer to be as historically accurate as possible and since most newsies in real life were immigrants or the children of immigrants, I took that into account when naming a lot of the boys. Anglicizing names was common practice for immigrants to better assimilate and since Bumlets’s family had to deal with racism on top of regular immigrant prejudice, his father dropped the accents to make things easier for them. Bumlets will probably add them back when he starts working as something other than a newsie (assistant superintendent at Duane Street is my headcanon). I sort of imprinted on @jackcowboyhero when I first joined the fandom so the names they picked for some of the boys (Skittery, Snoddy, and Tumbler) are very near and dear to my heart. I also tried to take into account the actor’s race/ethnicity as best as I could (Dominic Lucero was Latino, Kevin Stea is biracial, and I think Marty Belafsky is Jewish but the real-life Crutch Morris definitely was) and used information about real-life newsie nicknames to name others like Dutchy and Itey. If anyone has their own headcanons, I’d love to hear them!

Highschool Fic update

No I haven’t started writing, I am currently writing an outline of what i want to happen but here are the ships I have planned. Also unless they are a musical only character I will be using the 1992 versions of the characters so if you haven’t seen that version you should.

Jack and David, but it’s like kinda slow burn

Jack and Kathrine, but by the start of the story they have broken up but stayed friends

Blink and Mush, obviously

Jack and Sarah, they did date prior to the story but non of Sarah’s family or the Newsies knew they were dating or that they knew each other, you’ll see how that works later

Sarah and Kathrine, we love the newsbians

Racetrack and Spot, again using the 92 versions only bc I’m a sucker for a good ‘92sies Sprace story (sorry Spralbert and Ralbert shippers)

Bumlets, Swifty, and Skittery, BUMSWIFTERY FOR LIFE

Snitch and Itey, there is no freaking way they aren’t dating they literally share a bed

For me Lorenzo (for everyone who doesn't know that is Itey, but Itey is a rude period term to refer to an Italian) is a very caring person. Concentrates first on others, then on themselves. Snitch forces Lorenzo to do more of that and especially in pirates they often stay in their cabin on their couch and just hold each other.

Snitch also, as you can see, has a more fancy style because here he is from a richer family while Lorenzo is simpler, at least in this AU. (I also spent so much time on that vest okay but it is wonderful now)

In modern they loooove sundresses, especially with flower or plant patterns I think. And Snitch is all to happy to tell Lorenzo how great they look :)

Snitch/ Itey/ Jake Friendship Appreciation

"Look they're putting up a headline" (They're always in the same order during the dances, it's always Snitch, Itey then Jake)

The trio of friends skips right into line next to each another.

"Hey stupid, that ain't news no more!"

Itey, Snitch and Jake are inseperable!

Skipping ahead (literally) to "The World Will Know," the three once again skips into line next to each other in the same order of Snitch, Itey then Jake.

Behind Boots and Jack.

Sometimes it's just Jake and Itey.

Sometimes, Jake and Snitch.

And other times, it's the bed buddies, Itey and Snitch.

But the best combo is always the three of them together, as in this scene from "The King of New York", before their big number. Snitch's giving Itey a chest pat of support.

Jake's little laugh at Itey getting hit over the head is really cute.

And of course, their big moment in "The King of New York", in the usual order of Snitch, Itey and Jake.

Bonus: I wonder why Snitch and Itey sleeps in the same bed. Is it because they are splitting their rent at the Kloppman house or is it because there are not enough beds? The most likely reason I can think of is that Snitch is scared to sleep on his own, he still sucks his thumb and seems to be using Itey as a human teddy bear, so it's probably Itey being nice enough to sleep with him. Maybe that's how they became so close (literally and figuratively). Jake's most likely in the bottom bunk. Maybe they take turns in sleeping with Snitch which makes them really great friends.

Also, I wonder if Itey is disgusted because Snitch's feet is dirty and unwashed or is it because it's feet in general? Because he seems really calm by it before seeing that it's Snitch's feet. He wipe his face after throwing off the foot.

If I were Itey, I'd make Snitch scrub his feet before going to bed, not in the morning!

What's awesome, is that they look like friends in real life as well!
