no listen you don't understand- I am obsessed with how differently Anders reacts to Hawke hitting on him after completing his Tranquility quest depending on gender.
He talks about how he hopes he didn't come off as selfish for keeping Justice a secret, and Hawke has the flirty option of "at least he got a nice body."
With a lady Hawke, his response is a dramatic, "Noooo, don't do that~ Don't go there, I don't want to hurt you~ That's not going to end well~ I'll break your heart~" like he's so serious about it, and when Hawke tells him to do it, that she doesn't mind a little pain, he gives a hard no; "I'll break your heart and that might kill me as surely as the templars."
But with male Hawke?? Anders is like, ".....So y'know, in the circle everything is about rules and order so we apprentices found ways to make it bearable, if you know what I mean, hint hint wink wink. Karl and I? Yeah, he was my first. I've always believed people fall in love with a whole person, not just a body. Why would you shy away from loving someone just because they're like you? Soooo.... does it bother you that I've been with other men??"
Like.... Anders, babe, it's so interesting that you're out here warning a lady Hawke against getting involved with you but then with male Hawke suddenly "nooo don't do that~" is tossed out the window in favor of making sure he knows you're interested.

sophia seeing cailan's body hanging there when they go back to ostagar, and suddenly all she can see even through the rot and the ruin is just how much he looked like alistair...... :'(
a mental image that totally will not haunt her through alistair's many years on the throne as rebellions and assassination attemps come and go. doesn't send her unhinged and unwise even a little

I am a sap but I am free#what's that post about the unconquerable human spirit that's like 'despite all the horrors I am still horny' again. basically they're that#alistair is honestly The most pocket healed warrior of all time he's got two spirit healers who love him laser focused on him#at all times#(sophia switches between unleashing horrifying amounts of raw magical power on the enemy and going 'oh nooo let me see I'll fix it')#that boy is Protected. wynne and sophia glaring at you past his shoulders like 'he said no FUCKING pickles ok. last warning'#(actually probably sophia would glare at you from like. the height of his armpit; she's Short lol)#also partially why I had to change my canon b/c if alistair was left in the fade sophia would. she would quite simply end the world#long before solas had the time to. she would tear the veil to shreds to get to him. mind and circle mage restraint irretrievably lost#her greatest fear is becoming unmoored (which in many ways also means losing alistair) and everyone else should be afraid of that too#I do like how this playthrough is shaking out tho it feels like a more grown-up version of the story I told with them originally#more complicated and acknowledging the other forces pulling on them (when I was younger I liked the freedom of them both staying wardens)#but it just makes the 'we're sticking together *no matter what*' all the more satisfying and triumphant for me.#we'll find a way and if there is no way we'll fucking make it together :') and they do

In themes, BG3 feels to me a bit like the original Baldur's Gate games and Neverwinter Nights 2 both got sequels and then they fell in a blender and accidentally came out as one game. More NWN2 than BG tbh:
Bhaalspawn shenanigans + references + location = Baldur's Gate
Githyanki presence + Illithid Empire threat, linking back to Gith's rebellion (and thus her sword, which was key to their defeat) + Plane of Shadow nonsense + undead villages consumed by the Shadowfell + the long overdue opportunity to punch Myrkul in the face + fuck you Karsus stop ruining things + human wizards with too close a relationship to the weave causing apocalyptic events + THANKS SHAR + my ongoing hobby of making life difficult for devils + *squinting at Withers* didn't I see you on the fugue plane? = Neverwinter Nights 2
I crave the silver sword of gith in this game. Lae'zel would lose her fucking mind.

#SUCH a good quest augh#june is having the WORST time though </3#laya plays dragon age#oc: june trevelyan#<- for the tag rambling xd#first off she was betting on sealing the breach also getting rid of the mark so when that did nothing she maybe panicked a little bit (a lo#the templars attacking?? a wtf moment for sure but also kinda expected that to happen sooner or later#(considering they prolly didnt take well to yknow. hosting the rebel mages)#RED templars though? different story#she did not manage to lift a finger against that red templar horror bc she was too preoccupied with processing that this used to be a perso#& having ptsd flashbacks to seeing ppl she knows affected like this in Bad Future#and that this is apparently Real now and not just something she can file away as something that did not technically ever happen irl#the snowstorm bit always gives me literal chills and not just bc of the setting#and just hhhngh.#dawn will come sequence also fun! <3#as is being forced into the inquisitor role <333#all around fun times

#I love that you can see me back off to dodge his grab before I’m like oh wait I can just bonk him lol#thank you radagon for being the only boss I could see myself doing hitless#except my dodge rate for his stomp/poke combo is like 5%#so it’s only feasible if he doesn’t do that move…#oh and the “nothing personnel kid” teleport and fast smash can also suck it#him the crucible knights and the bell bearing hunter are the only enemies I’ve learned to consistently parry in ER 😮💨#I tried learning malenia’s parries but her damage is so overtuned it str8 up was not worth the risk and effort 🥴#radagon definitely isn’t the most fun boss in Elden ring but I think he’s like the most fair out of every single one#which is why it’s gr8 that all my goodwill gets toss out the window with Elden beast 🥴#I had one moment where he did Elden stars chase attack the triple closing rings and then sword swipes#and got absolutely annihilated bc I could not dodge all 3 attacks at once#like attack RNG has always been part of the difficulty in these games but with my limited knowledge this is the first one where#(( outside of gank fights ))#the RNG difficulty slider goes from manageable all the way to full health to death#had one round with malenia where she used waterfowl blade SIX TIMES and I only managed to survive bc I was playing around with a mage build#and was letting bby tiche do most of the damage while I pulled aggro from far away enough that I could dodge WFB comfortably#can you tell I’ve only ever done double godskins with both NPC summons and tears#I’ve heard enough about that fights bullshit that I straight up trivialize it every time I get it to it#Elden ring truly is the most difficult and easiest fromsoft game to date… dialectic 🥳#excited to see how they balance things in the DLC bc honestly outside of WFB malenia really is a fun boss#I don’t mind that her normal attacks are so punishing bc dodging around them or knocking her out of certain attacks feels gr8#so if bosses are malenia level TUNED without WFB level BULLSHIT I can see myself getting really into it 🥳#tsuchi plays games

Speaking of is anyone else playing Roadwarden cause that game rules.
The amount of choices you get to make is absolutely wild especially with how much you get to define your character and where they come from. I really felt like I was roleplaying a character which is rare for me in choice games, I usually just end up picking choices as myself.
It is also kinda hard with having to manage your resources and time alongside trying to advance the story but it’s super rewarding.
#I'm on my second playthrough now#during my first I played a mage#she was a Seeker and was kind of a naive 'I just wanna help' adventurer type looking for a new life#friendly and helpful but also serious and kind of distant#very devout and morality-driven#and she did quite a bit of good but also made a lot of foolish choices and the ultimate result was#not ideal#this time I'm playing a pagan scholar and I was like 'holy shit my character can read this time'#she's kind of silly and likes to make jokes but she's also a bit quicker to draw her axe

If Bellara really is a mage then it might make more sense for me to play a rogue both for the character I'm building in my brain and also to balance out the party but. I don't really wanna 😭
#based on what they said about how momentum works for rogues in this game im worried i wont be able to play a rogue well#like i have a slow reaction speed lol. if a big part of the rogues abilities revolves around being able to dodge attacks i might be screwed#i was really hoping to play either a mage or a warrior. and i guess i could still play a warrior#but like im really interested in the veil jumper faction#thats a big reason im trying to plan my build to be complementary to bellara bc i figure ill want to have her in my party a lot#(also thinking i might romance her the first time around but im still undecided bc all the women are so cool)#and after seeing the rogue specializations and us all assuming she was gonna be a veil ranger i was like#okay cool since shes got that down i can be something different#but if shes NOT a veil ranger rogue then i feel like it would make the most sense for my character to be a veil ranger rogue#if im really interested in leaning into the veil jumper stuff for my rook#hhhhhh#i know the game isnt coming out until fall so theres still plenty of time to think on this stuff#but uh i ALSO still need to do my second playthrough of inquisition (and first playthrough of trespasser) before it comes out#so im trying to plan out what i want to do with my dav character so i can decide what i want to do with my dai character first#in order to not make the playthroughs feel too repetitive#i was thinking qunari warrior inquisitor but if im not gonna be doing an (elf) mage rook then#maybe ill do a qunari mage inquisitor instead? dammit i JUST got excited about the champion specialization tho...#i guess its still technically there in dav but. elf champion warrior just doesnt feel as right as it does for qunari tbh#and i feel like an elf would still make the most sense with the veil jumpers :/#ughh maybe i go back to my first plan of doing an elf necromancer in inquisition and a qunari in veilguard?#but what faction would i choose 😭#rambling
