16, gabenath 😈
"Do you still think it was worth it?" Nathalie manages to wheeze out.
Gabriel groans. She wonders whether he's past speech. It wouldn't be a surprise in his condition.
She turns her head to look at him, avoiding the stump where his hand had still been the last time she'd seen him before she woke up in this room to Ladybug's stern expression.
Chat Noir- Adrien hadn't been there. Perhaps that's no surprise he hadn't been happy to find out the truth; raging at her and Emilie.
She wished they'd had a chance to talk it out before the heroes reversed Gabriel's Wish. That Chrysalis hadn't forced their hands.
She hopes Adrien has the Butterfly now. That he can rest with no new enemy to fight. That he'll be safe. That Amelie will take care of him now.
There's nothing she can do about it.
She's dying.
She's almost surprised she's not already dead. She had been before the Wish she'd throught.
Gabriel's eyes open and she looks into that once-familar silver. It's strange seeing him again after so long. A distingrating man displacing the her memories of him so alive.
She's not used to seeing him like this, eyes glazed whether by the pain or the drugs nurses have adminstered to help with that she's not sure.
It's kind of Ladybug to have brought them to a hospital to ease their passing she supposes.
There's nothing left in her these days to hate the heroine with. Or Gabriel really either.
It had been a nice world for her, the one he'd wished into existence.
"Na," Gabriel moans.
"I'm here," she answers, feeling silly when she's not sure he even means her, or that he can hear the hoarse whisper that's all she can manage.
"Failed," he manages clearly this time.
"Yes, Ladybug reversed the Wish."
"Wha-sit nice?" Gabriel's eyelid drag shut, "Wish."
"It was. Apart from the Villain. And the cost of you saving me as well as Emilie. That's why they had to reverse it, you know. You shouldn't of saved both of us."
Gabriel just grunts.
"Why did you save me?"
"Love you."
Nathalie stares at him but Gabriel says nothing more. He's still and silent and he could be dead and she hasn't the strengh to get out of this bed to find out.
There's no way to know if he understood her, if he knew who he was talking to, if he meant it, or how he meant it.
And if he did they she's not sure it means anything even. There's nothing they can do stuck dying in the aftermath of their mistakes.

A Gabenath Fanfiction
Note: I haven’t written fanfiction in a while so this might be really cringe..and I’m a horrible editor so I sincerely apologize for any grammatical errors.
Also I wanna give a shout-out to a friend of mine who helped me brainstorm for this piece. They didn’t want me to share any of their information but they deserve the credit :)
Rated: T
Summary: After a not so helpful conversation with Nino, Adrien is at a loss on how to go about having his first kiss with Marinette. With Nino out of the equation, Adrien decides he’ll go to the next best thing, his parents. While trying to pry for information from both Gabriel and Nathalie, Adrien may come to find out an interesting secret that lays in their past.
Title: Just a Peck on the Lips
"Dude! How have you two not kissed yet?"
Adrien sighed, his cheeks warming.
"I mean...I want to and I think Marinette wants to, but I don't know..."
Nino grinned, nudging Adrien's arm.
"What is there to not know? You just take her out on a nice date and do whatever it is you two do, and then at the end just when the moment is right you kiss her."
Well that was easy for Nino to say, him and Ayla have been together for months now. They've surely kissed countless times.
"But how do I know when the moment is just right?" Adrien murmured more to himself rather than to Nino.
Nino placed a finger to his chin contemplating.
"I don't know dude. You just...know."
Again he said it as if it was so easy.
"Right." Adrien agreed not wanting to touch on the subject matter any longer. He waved goodbye to Nino, who seemed to be none the wiser to his distress.
Adrien knew he had to get home soon or he'd be late for his Chinese lesson. However, despite trying to get his mind to focus on more pressing issues, he couldn't stop thinking about Marinette and what a kiss with her would be like. The only thing he couldn't seem to figure out was when he was going to kiss her. Should he ask for her permission first or should he just go for it?
As he made his way up to his room, Nino's words began to echo in his ears.
You just know...
"Father." Adrien called, knocking gently three times on the double doors of his father's office. He could hear his father walking about in there muttering about designs and pattern choices to himself.
"Father!" He called again. He heard as the older man let out a deep sigh and an aggravated grunt.
"What is it, Adrien?"
"Can I talk to you for a second?"
Another grunt.
"Can it wait? I'm very busy."
Adrien sighed, his heart sinking.
"Never mind..."
Adrien blew out a breath. He hadn't expected anything more. Really, what could one expect from someone like Gabriel Agreste?
Luckily after fourteen years of dealing with Gabriel, he knew all the ways to get under his skin. After a few moments of watching him through the door crack, his breath coming out in puffs, Gabriel let out a sigh that honestly sounded more like a snarl.
“Fine Adrien. I'll give you five minutes, five minutes and that’s it.”
Five minutes was all Adrien needed.
“Why are you asking me this?”
Out of all the things that could’ve come out of his father’s mouth, Adrien had not been expecting this. Did he really want to tell his father about Marinette? Would his father even care? Would he care too much?
“I…well there’s this girl—“
His father immediately waved him away, brows furrowing in revulsion.
“Adrien,” he began, his tone as stern as ever, “I don’t want to hear any more of this girl and details on what has happened in my life is most certainly none of your concern.”
“But Father!” Adrien cried frantically, though it came out more whiny than he had intended it to. To make matters worse, his father was already standing up, ready to turn on his heel and act as if this conversation never happened.
Out of desperation for his only chance of finding out how to court Marinette, Adrien bolted forward pawing at the fabric of his father’s shirt.
“Father please!” He wailed. Surprisingly, Gabriel didn’t make any moves to go away, stopping in his tracks completely. Was he actually bothering to listen to what Adrien had to say?
Before he lost his nerve, Adrien went on, “I barely know anything about your past and I just want to get closer to you…I…aren’t son’s supposed to come to their father’s to talk about things like this?”
Adrien felt his father stiffen and watched with bolstering anticipation as the older Agreste turned to face him.
Gabriel huffed, his expression sour, “if you must know...it was at a college party back in my days at Sorbonne.”
Adrien’s eyes widened. He had not been expecting that. His father’s first kiss was at a college party. Huh.
His father did not say anything more and Adrien didn’t get the chance to pry due to an office door being slammed in his face, but this was a start…even if he didn’t get any actual advice at least he got to know a little something more about his dear old dad.
So yes, even though he was elated with his results, he knew due to his father's lack of communication skills that he'd have to resort to a far more promising resource.
Nathalie.
He found Nathalie at her usual spot in the desk to the side of the entryway. She had a look of deep concentration, her eyes scanning over her tablet. As he approached, he saw as her focus broke, her gaze diverting up to his.
"Hey Nathalie," Adrien said, his voice wavering. Was it obvious what his intentions were? Nathalie was smart, he wouldn't put it past her to have somehow already figured out his dilemma, but perhaps that meant she had a solution.
Nathalie pulled her glasses up, setting her tablet to the side.
"Do you need something Adrien?"
"So..." he trailed off, wringing his figures together.
She made a ticking motion with her hands, obviously aggravated by being distracted from her work. Adrien felt his cheeks heat up as all his questions hung on the tip of his tongue.
"Well I want to kiss Marinette but I don't know how. I don't know if she's ready or if I'm ready and I..." he paused his rampage coming to a halt. Nathalie hadn't even flinched as she looked at him expectantly to continue. Even without her judgment, he felt his embarrassment coming to full front.
"Do you...have any tips?"
Nathalie blinked and sighed, her demeanor seemingly uncomfortable.
“Tips?” She questioned.
“Yeah like how should I go about it and all that? I mean I’m sure you have experience—“
Nathalie cringed, nose wrinkling, “Adrien,” she started, “maybe this is a conversation you'd prefer to have with your father—"
"I already tried that!"
Nathalie startled, taken aback. Adrien flushed even more and raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.
“Look, you don't even have to give me tips, just tell me what your first kiss was like."
Nathalie's eyes widened, her mouth parting.
"Excuse me?”
"Your first kiss, what was it like?"
Well..." she hesitated, she’d normally shut Adrien down but it sounded like she was his last resort anyway, might as well give him something.
“It was very quick and unexpected, more like a peck on the lips."
Adrien frowned, "but aren't first kisses supposed to be special? What made yours so chaste?"
Nathalie made a face, biting her lip in contemplation. After a moment she replied, “He was already interested in somebody else.”
The room suddenly became rigid. Guilt lanced through Adrien’s chest. He shouldn’t have been so nosy. Nathalie’s past was her business and he shouldn’t have pried.
“Oh…I’m sorry—“
“Don’t be. Really, it was just a game of spin the bottle at a college party back in my days at Sorbonne."
Adrien quirked a brow, his curiosity returning with a vengeance as the gears in his brain began to churn.
“Didn't Dad go to Sorbonne too?"
Nathalie looked brought up short, her lips pursing, "well yes but—"
There was an audible click as the conclusion formed itself in his mind.
His father's first kiss was at a college party, Sorbonne which also happened to be where Nathalie attended as well, not only that but the timings would line up too because Nathalie and his father had met at the beginning of their second semester of college and in just a few short weeks his mother came along for the ride joining the complementary duo. They were their own little tight-knit group, they were all each other had.
The three of them even had their graduation photos taken together, grad caps, diplomas and all. Adrien had a personal copy of said graduation photo in his room. It had been his mother’s but since her disappearance, he felt the compulsion to hold onto it as a personal keepsake.
Now as he watched Nathalie, his mind clicking as what felt like all the missing pieces fell into place, he couldn’t help but smirk.
“Nathalie..." he began cheekily, "was your first kiss my father?"
Nathalie coughed though it came out more as a gag.
"I-I hardly see why that is relevant!" She stuttered, her cheeks burning with a bright hue of color. Adrien gasped, his shock palpable.
"Oh my god! It totally was!" He squealed. Nathalie stiffened, her fists clenched,
"Adrien—"
"Dad!" Adrien hollered, turning on his heel and bolting down to his father's office.
"Adrien!" Nathalie jumped to her feet, practically leaping over her desk, determined to catch the young boy.
"Adrien Agreste! Do not bother your father with such trivial things!" She cried. With the resounding click of her stilettos she sped up the marble stairs. She could hear what she would normally consider Adrien's bubbly, cheerful laughter as he called out for his father.
Her fingers twitched just as she yanked Adrien by the shoulder, pulling him backward. She could feel her heart pumping at a fast plateau against her chest at the sound of rummaging and angry footsteps coming from behind Gabriel’s office door.
Her knuckles were white, her grip like a claw on Adrien’s shoulder. Both of them knew what was coming next and only one of them seemed pleased by it, if Adrien’s smug smile was anything to go by.
In the next moment a very much agitated Gabriel Agreste flung open the door.
"Adrien!" He bellowed, his eyes bulging, “what is the meaning of all this ruckus?"
Without missing a beat the young Agreste piped up, “was Nathalie—"
"Sir, I can explain!" Nathalie interjected, her stomach falling to the floor with what almost felt like an audible slush. Gabriel tsked waving his hand in annoyance and to both Nathalie and Adrien's surprise, he seemed to have turned his focus to his son.
In that moment Nathalie could see the likes of her career flashing before her eyes just as Adrien spoke his next words, "was Nathalie your first kiss?"
Nathalie’s insides crumbled.
Gabriel's eyes widened, his mouth falling into a perfect o. If she was being honest with herself, Nathalie was pretty sure she'd never seen her boss at such a loss for words in her entire life. After a few moments of what can only be described as deafeningly tense silence, Gabriel muttered, "yes but I don't see how that's relevant or any of your business—"
"Exactly as I said sir!" Nathalie butted in. She could put up with a lot of things but she would not be humiliated in front of her boss.
The room was stiff, the air practically being engulfed by the tension. While certainly not his current objective, Adrien did consider today's events to result in him learning a valuable lesson. Perhaps it was best to just stick with his friend's advice from now on.
Now as he stood there. looking between his father and Nathalie, their eyes locked as they held a silent conversation, he knew that that was his cue.
"Well," he said slyly, "it looks like you two have a lot to talk about." And with that he turned on his heel and left the two adults to question nothing but themselves.
A/N: Thanks for reading! I hope you guys liked it! I did a lot of revising before I posted this so hopefully it came out in something that wasn’t a complete incoherent mess. Also I was wondering would you guys want me to write a prequel to this, like where I go into full detail about how Gabriel and Nathalie’s first kiss really went down, almost like a flashback sorta thing? If y’all have any other gabenath fanfic ideas or prompts please send them my way! I’ll take any requests!

Nice day for a white wedding
Pt2 of the little haunted mansion au gabenath fic
You are her, you have to be
Those words echo in Nathalie’s head like a siren, lulling her into a false sense of security, only to rip her into pieces afterwards.
She couldn’t be Natalia, no way in hell! Nathalie was Nathalie and he would just have to deal with it.
Nathalie had to find Penny and Vincent get out of here as soon as possible before she went mad, before he drives her to the brink of insanity.
“I have to find a way out.”
It’s a murmur, she doesn’t want anyone hearing this, they’d report it to him and she really didn’t need that.
The woman gets up from where she’s sitting on a small poof, just in front of the vanity (ironic) it’s time to open the door.
Face the facts and get the hell out of here.
———-
The hallways are just as confusing as they were before. Long and winding, portraits hung on every little space.
History at its finest really, although Nathalie isn’t really sure who any of those people are and she really doesn’t want to delve deep into it anymore.
She keeps quiet. Not wanting to attract any unwanted attention, stepping over those floorboards she thinks are going to creek when she steps on them.
The woman breaths slowly, not wanting to panic, although her brain is working on overdrive right now.
Declarations of love echoing in her head, that deep grey staring right into her soul. It made her heart race, whoever Natalia was, well the woman was lucky to have someone as devoted to her like Agreste was.
But it wasn’t her, and it never would be.
Nathalie really needs to find Penny and Vincent, she thinks she’s going insane!
But the hallways are just so confusing and long, the woman can’t remember which ways she’s turned and which paths she hasn’t taken.
It all too much, too much for her to bare. Maybe it was time to rest, stop and think for a while.
That would be nice.
“There you are dear, I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
Or maybe it’s time to keep running! Don’t let him fool you!
But Nathalie’s legs weren’t moving and then she starts to panic even more.
“Stay away from me! I’m not who you think I am!”
She’s pleading with whatever gods can hear her, help her get out of this mess before it’s too late and she’s trapped.
Agreste is getting closer each second and all Nathalie can do is back herself into a corner, he had the advantage of knowing the place better then she did.
OF COURSE!
This was his plan all along, lead her into a trap and then grab her. All she could do now was play along.
“You are her, I know it. Now you’re here we can finally be together again.”
Nathalie gulps, her back hitting the wall. She’s fucked.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, please just let me go!”
He shakes his head, taking one of her shaking hands, pulling her towards him.
“You don’t know how happy I am that we have been reunited, my dear Natalia. We’re going to be so happy together.”
Agreste places a kiss on her palm, then looping the arm he holds with his.
Nathalie had no choice but to follow, trapped in a web that would continue to be spun until her fate was decided.
Well, like the saying goes.
Till death do us part.

Nathalie is a little better than Gabriel. I will support her redemption if only because 1. She’s the only reason Adrien was allowed to go to school. 2. She is generally nicer to him than his father and has tried several times to appeal to Gabriel when she sees him upset. 3. She encouraged Gabriel to be honest with Adrien over what he was doing 4. We never got to see her in the aftermath of the reveals in Ephemeral or Chat Blanc. She gave Chat Noir up but it’s possible that she didn’t realize Gabriel would react the way he did.
It’s true she’s been supporting a crazy terrorist man and simping needlessly for him but I am just happy to see her (maybe) come to her senses and I’m more tolerant of her redemption than his. I don’t know how long this anti-Gabriel phase is going to last. He might lure her back in. In one of those screenshots it looks like she might get akumatized and be purple too? So she might say “he made us purple together and that means his love is true.” I’m hoping for the best anyway.
"HE MADE US PURPLE TOGETHER THAT MEANS HIS LOVE IS TRUE" 😭😭😭😭😭
I don't think Nathalie nor anyone is worse than Gabriel. Gabriel is the bottom of the bottom. I just find their relationship toxic and Nathalie's standards low af. Gabriel isn't even good looking and he doesn't have a nice personality.
At first I didn't even notice Nathalie. Then in Heroes Day part two I found her relationship with Gabriel already toxic and a huge red flag was how she risked her life for a man who just beat two children with a stick in front of her. He did THAT to Ladybug and Chat Noir in front of the whole Paris and Nathalie was like "I love him so much he deserves help he is a good man who loves his family". Then as the season 3 went on I disliked her and their whole relationship more and more, I already hated him of course. But the whole concept of what they have is unhealthy to me. Then in Chat Blanc she literally spent all credit with me. The "she didn't know what he was going to do to Adrien" could work if she didn't help Gabriel break Adrien's and Marinette's hearts earlier in the same ep. She already hurt Adrien, she broke his heart. Then when she snitched on him to his father OH MY GOD I WANTED TO MURDER THESE TWO ADULTS SO MUCH IN THAT EPISODE! Then Risk, don't forget it when she flew in to control Adrien with the ring cuz Gabriel couldn't. I don't see her as a momma bear nor anyone who looks at Adrien more than a tool to help his father. I literally don't care if she dies. I used to feel little sorry for her in Strikeback when she collapsed but now I legit don't care. I just want her to go to prison or whatever. Like people legit hate Marinette and then call Nathalie "power woman who has standards, successful queen" what's with the fandom praising every bad female character and hating the good ones lol?! I would rather give Chloé development at this point than Nathalie. Chloé has more potential and she's a kid, Nathalie is a grown woman destroying the world for a one inch long d*ck and now I'm supposed to forgive her?! The same woman who's creating and killing sentimonsters knowing full well what Adrien is. Also the same woman who is also teamed up with Lila and she helped Lila against Adrien in Ladybug. Also when she let Gabriel take credit for the gift Marinette made for Adrien... (also I don't need the "that's bc the writers hate Chloé and they will give everyone development before her" just admit the writers f*ck characters up quite often at this point that no wonder the fandom is so confused who's good and who's bad). I'm just so sick and tired of hers "oh no this is so sad Alexa play Despacito" moments. Also when someone compares Gabenath to Love Square 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 f*ck them.
Now I don't know if she'll come back to Gabriel but I always compared Nathalie to Serena from The Handmaid's Tale cuz they are basically the same character, but there was a part of the series when Serena was seriously considering leaving Fred (who is just as bad as Gabriel) and she was so close and then she came back to him even though she wasn't 100% happy with that choice she still forgave him everything. So everything is possible. I just know that it's impossible for me to like Nathalie like it's impossible for me to like Serena. When a character crossed it they crossed it. If Nathalie and Serena don't have standards I have them.
Also (this isn't about this ask tho) if Nathalie stans could just ignore my blog instead of harassing me and making fun of me for hating her that would be really appreciated 😘

ANYHOO sorry for word vomiting all over you!! any hc’s for the future of that universe? how does nathalie feel abt her name, and do you think she’d ever go back to natalya or allow anyone like gabriel or adrien to call her that? she called adrien “malysh” as a kid, do ya think she’d ever do that again? do you think she’d ever have her own baby at all given her fear of childbirth? hypothetical situation where the sancoeurs meet the agrestes? hsfjsfhbjs i’d ask more stuff bc this backstory and its consequences and implications are just so INTERESTING (and i’m a pedant) but i don’t wanna bombard you anyway have a nice day <3
Nathalie has been going by Nathalie for so long, I think that feels like her name now. But Mariya, of course, only refers to her as Natasha, and sometimes Gabriel will call her Natasha when he’s being playful. He wants her to teach him Russian.
Adrien too, once he hears them speaking it more. As they become closer, Nathalie starts using Russian terms of endearment on him. But interestingly, never French ones.
As much as I love Gabenath babies, in this universe, no, I don’t think she would ever have her own child. There’s a possibility, but there’s so much trauma attached to her mother’s death that I don’t think Nathalie has ever properly addressed. It would be too shocking for her (though an interesting story in its own right...).
Hmm, Sancoeurs and Agrestes? That one could require a ficlet of its own.....
#also don't worry about bombarding me#these asks are pure serotonin to me#it's everybody else's problem now#whence I came (fragments)

Not All Heroes Wear Capes
Superheroes, in daily life, usually remained hidden. Men and women, bestowed with god-like powers, living among those whose only powers remained in their knowledge and talents. One of these heroes was Mayura, a peacock-themed superheroine with the power to create new life. As more laborers were going on strike, Mayura’s efforts to keep the economy from deflating were more crucial than ever. Because of her, livelihoods were kept intact for the destitute. For the corporate overlords, however, she was the bane of their luxurious existence. But what does this mean to Gabriel Agreste?

A Witch’s Desire
Gabriel Agreste was a peculiar man, who was known around town both as a famous fashion designer and a powerful witch who was able to read and control minds, though he never used that second power unless there was a real emergency. Heck, he barely even used the first. But after losing his wife, Gabriel becomes desperate to do anything he can to bring her back, even that means using his powers for evil, or tracking down a mysterious powerful witch who had disappeared many years ago, with the power to bring the dead back to life.

Time and Time Again
The stress of being a young designer trying to make it in the fashion industry is taking its toll, and Gabriel’s and Nathalie’s marriage is slowly unraveling.
They’ve stood the tests of life since their first year of university, but when everything comes crashing down, Gabriel finds himself stuck reliving the day it happened. Failing and falling, time and time again with every passing ‘day’. Why is he here? How can he stop it? The answer lies in a choice as to what matters more: his career or the woman who has stood by him through it all.

Clarity
A year after Hawkmoth’s surrender, Gabriel asks Nathalie to join him to gaze at the stars. While she waits for him, she contemplates the empty space left by the removal of the portrait from the foyer hall. Growth ensues for them both as they learn to just be by each other’s side.

C’est la Vie; C’est le Ballet
After the death of his wife, upstart choreographer Gabriel Agreste is looking for a new star for his ballet, Miraculous. Hard to please and willing to do whatever it takes for the sake of the show, none of the auditionees fit his artistic vision…
…except Nathalie, a former prima ballerina turned ballet instructor. She’s stoic and very dedicated to her craft, but there’s a reason she stopped performing four years ago and it has dangerous potential.
Through the trials and triumphs and betrayals that run hand in hand with the world of ballet, Gabriel and Nathalie begin to find something more in each other’s company, and perhaps the seeds of new beginnings.

I’m Praying (There’s Saving)
It was to be Gabriel’s first party on Olympus, but little did he know it would also be the last. Not only for him, but for everyone. In the blink of an eye everything changed, sending the god of nature and his newborn son to take refuge with the Queen of the Dead. They thought they were safe, but even the depths of the underworld couldn’t escape the King’s wrath forever.

“From the way Adrien talked about you, I expected someone...nicer.” Bunnyx shook her head. “That’s on me though. I knew you couldn’t possibly be nice. I’ve seen too much.” Her face screwed up in disgust. “But I’m going out on a limb and trusting his judgement on this because I actually owe him this time around and he won’t let me forget it.”
“You realize I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Nathalie tightened the belt of her robe in an irritated gesture. “If you’re an akuma--”
“You know I’m not.” Bunnyx rolled her eyes. “You don’t have to act around me. Believe me when I say I’ve seen you at your worst, just like I’ve seen with everyone else.”
The other woman noticed the tightening around the hero’s eyes, the slump of her shoulders. She would use that if she needed to. She took the moment to study the large room she’d been brought into after being whisked through a portal right in the middle of the Agreste hallway. She wondered if Gabriel would realize she was gone before morning.
She slipped into his room night after night and the few times that she didn’t come on her own, her bedroom door would open and there would be a weight on the other side of her bed. He would never cuddle up to her and even slept with his back to her most nights, but if she didn’t come to him, he came to her. He would realize she was gone.
She wrapped that thought around her like a blanket and realized the other woman was watching her. “Well, you brought me here. I assume you have a reason.”
Bunnyx gave her an indiscernible look before gesturing to the left. “Yeah, I’ve got you set up over here. Just watch.”
A grouping of blurred viewing windows became clearer simultaneously and Nathalie stared up at the wall of Gabriel with a soft gasp. There was Gabriel as she knew him, tall and stoic, awkwardly hugging his son. There was another side of Gabriel she knew in the next one, Hawk Moth using the dark power between his hands to create his next akuma as Chat Noir cowered before him. There was Gabriel as a young man and Gabriel as an anxious groom waiting for Emilie to come down the aisle and even Gabriel as the holder of the Peacock Miraculous, fighting on the side of good and aiding Chat Noir and Ladybug with a sentiprotector.
A Gabriel with his Hawk Moth transformation falling around him as he held her broken body, the last magic of Mayura slipping away with what was left of her life. A Gabriel genuinely smiling as he held her close and they enjoyed a beautiful sunset. A Gabriel clapping proudly as Adrien finished his final fencing match at the top of his group.
Nathalie felt too many things at once and locked them down the best she could. She felt her face smooth out into a comfortable mask of indifference. “If you have a point, now would be the time to make it.”
“Really? You’re going to make me spell it out for you? And here I thought you were smart. I swear if I didn’t owe him, this would be going really differently right now.” Bunnyx shook her head. “Look, you can change things. You’re it. You’re the fulcrum.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Nathalie hugged herself as she watched Hawk Moth turn to ash from a deadly blow of Cataclysm in one of the windows.
The hero sighed. “As hard as it is to admit it, no one is beyond redemption. Not when they still have life left. It’s a hard lesson I’ve come to learn while holding this gig.”
“You’re saying I need to help Gabriel change his dastardly ways.” Nathalie knew her tone was too dry. “I have nothing to do with him being Hawk Moth.”
“Maybe that’s not why he started, but without you, I don’t think he’d have it in him to keep going.” Bunnyx shrugged. “It’s a theory, but one I’ve seen play out a few times now that makes me believe there’s some weight behind it.”
“I see.” Her eyes strayed to the windows showing a happier Gabriel, a man who was a stranger to her. “And why should I believe any of this magic show, White Rabbit?”
“The name’s Bunnyx,” she scoffed. “And it’s not magic. Well, maybe it is, I don’t know. Max would say it’s all science. The point is that all of these futures have the potential to happen and I’ve watched enough to know that you can prevent a lot of them.”
And there it was, that small flicker of hope Nathalie felt sometimes. The way out. The way to a better life for both of them, for all of them. It couldn’t be that easy though. She refused to believe that she was the reason he kept going. It would be too...too...
“What I’m saying is that I don’t think the Agreste apple falls far from the tree and believe me, I’ve seen more than enough of knowing what Adrien will do for the love of his life. Gabriel isn’t any different.”
“Perhaps you’re forgetting that he’s not doing any of this for me; he’s doing it for Emilie.”
“Things don’t always end the way they started.” Bunnyx brandished her umbrella and a new portal appeared. “Anyway, I fulfilled my end of the bargain. You’ve seen what could happen if you get him to change and what does happen if you don’t. That’s all I can do.”
“You haven’t done anything.” Nathalie could see the familiar hallway through the portal. “You haven’t told me anything I didn’t know.”
The hero looked sad. “Yeah, I know.”
Nathalie went through the portal without another word and there was a staticky sound behind her as it closed. She took in a deep breath and a shiver ran down her spine.
“Wow,” Duusu whispered. “That was a lot, huh?”
With a blink of surprise, the woman reached up to feel the kwami nestled in her hair. She’d completely forgotten her presence in the middle of everything that just happened. Although it was very unlike Duusu to have stayed so quiet. “What did you think of it all?”
“Oh! I think she’s right!” Duusu flew in front of her holder and clasped her tiny paws together. “It’s so romantic, isn’t it? You saving him from a bad life.”
“That’s not what this is.”
“You keeping him from making bad choices and showing him there’s still good in the world.”
“I’m not sure there is. Besides, I’m not his keeper. He’s a grown man with his own agenda. I don’t want that on me.” Nathalie tightened her robe and looked down the hall towards Gabriel’s room. She needed distance and time to think. She turned and began down the path back to her own room.
“But he needs you!” the kwami whined. “You can make him good.”
“I don’t want to be responsible for that! I can’t even make good choices for myself.” She slipped into her room and locked the door behind her.
Duusu flew through the wood, unfazed. “Maybe you can help each other then!”
Nathalie curled up on top of her bed, not bothering with the blankets. She felt confused and angry and lonely and sad. She hated Bunnyx for showing her futures she didn’t think she could have and she wished she hadn’t seen the futures that were all too possible. “I can’t change anything,” she whispered miserably. “I don’t know how.”
She wasn’t sure how long she lay in the dim light of her room like that before she heard a rustling outside her bedroom door. The doorknob turned slowly until it caught on the lock. She watched it happen once more before she spoke. “Gabriel?”
There was a distinct silence from the other side of the door of someone trying to stay quiet and still. Nathalie held her breath. She wasn’t going to do this by herself. She wasn’t going to always be the one reaching. Even with the small flicker of hope burning in her chest, she couldn’t bring herself to get up without a sign from him.
She’d almost given up when the doorknob let out a small sigh of release and she heard Gabriel’s voice on the other side of the door, low and quiet. “May I come in, please? Nathalie?”
Her heart jumped in her throat as she rose from the bed and crossed the room. She opened the door and looked at him, not sure how to feel. His eyes were filled with guarded concern. “Is everything okay?”
“I can’t keep doing this.”
Gabriel blinked and took a step back. “Right.” He cleared his throat and tightened his own robe. “Of course.” He turned to go and Nathalie reached out, grabbing his arm. He looked down at her hand in surprise.
“No, I mean...” She trailed off with an exhausted sigh. “We can talk about it in the morning. Come in.”
They were quiet as they moved into the room and took their usual places on each side of the bed. Nathalie had a moment of indecision before she curled up close to Gabriel’s back. She felt him stiffen under her touch and then he was rolling over to hold her. Neither of them spoke in the quiet of the room, though there were plenty of words that needed to be said.
Duusu’s words rang in Nathalie’s head. Maybe they could help each other. Maybe they could both change. Maybe they could have a new life, together.
Maybe there was hope.
She closed her eyes and listened to Gabriel’s heart racing in his chest.
Maybe they could still find redemption together.

MLB: New Fic: The Gabenath Shipper Project
My entry for @wearemiraculous‘s Miraculous Valentines event! Fic will be 9 chapters and answer all 14 prompts. I can’t promise I will have the full thing finished by Valentine’s Day but I will do my best!
Although I’m posting the full first chapter here, I think for future chapters I will only be posting the archive links. Depends how much time I have. I suggest if you want to be notified, you either follow the tag “the gabenath shipper project alexannah” or use one of the archives, because it takes FOREVER for me to tag everyone who liked or reblogged.

The Gabenath Shipper Project by Alexannah
Summary: Gabriel and Nathalie are in love. Everyone can see it except the two of them. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Adrien rounds up some friends to try and get their ship sailing.
Chapter One: Recruitment (Chapter Prompts: Love/Crush)
“I’ve seen how close you and Nathalie have become …”
Gabriel resisted the urge to groan as Adrien’s words rang in his head for the thousandth time since that conversation.
He knew it was absolute nonsense. If Adrien knew about his secret project, he would understand how ridiculous it was. Gabriel had found himself wondering more about trying to tell him, now as much to get this absurd ideas about him and Nathalie out of his head as for the other reasons.
But every time he found a moment, Adrien would give him a knowing look and start babbling about Nathalie. Not outrightly addressing his ludicrous assessment of Gabriel and Nathalie’s relationship, but clearly trying to steer his father in that direction. It was all Gabriel could do to stop himself blurting out his secret; that was no way to break it to him. Instead he was forced to remove himself from the conversation. Which only seemed to reaffirm Adrien’s erroneous conclusion that the two of them were—were—
He couldn’t even bring himself to think it.
Every time Gabriel looked at Adrien, and saw that grin on his face, he remembered how this whole thing had started. Even right now, when they were standing in Adrien’s classroom surrounded by his peers.
He forcefully looked away from his son, and brought his mind back to the present. (Coming here in person had clearly been a mistake, despite his promise to Nathalie that he would make more of an effort to attend things for Adrien in person.)
Oh no, he thought as movement caught his eye. Adrien was raising his hand …
~*~
Nathalie finished her talk, and there was a slight pause before the applause. Did the students normally clap on Career Day?
Or maybe this was an expression of appreciation that, since Gabriel had missed the actual Career Day some months back, the two of them had come in to give a joint presentation on the fashion industry after Adrien, his teacher, at least two of his classmates and the school principal had between them made about a dozen requests.
“Does anyone have any questions for Mr Agreste or Ms Sancoeur?” Miss Bustier addressed the class.
Half of the class raised their hands, including Adrien, to Nathalie’s surprise.
The first few questions weren’t anything unexpected. Marinette Dupain-Cheng asked several, which Gabriel answered. A very quiet girl with purple hair mumbled a question so quietly her friend had to translate.
“Er … Adrien?” Gabriel finally relented when he was the only one with his hand still in the air.
“The question’s for Nathalie,” Adrien said, sounding suspiciously smug, and Nathalie suddenly had a very bad feeling. “What’s it like working for my father?”
“Adrien!” she and Gabriel both spluttered.
He didn’t look in the least bit cowed. “What?” he asked in far too innocent a voice. “What did I say?”
One of his classmates that Nathalie recognised from the Ladyblog also raised her hand. “I’d like to hear the answer as well,” she said.
All eyes turned to Nathalie, who felt her face heat up with alarm. Gabriel turned to look at her expectantly, and that only made it ten times worse.
“Er …”
The full honest answer was far too complicated, far too personal, and far too secret to relate in front of all these people. Or even Gabriel alone.
If she tried listing the things she enjoyed about the job, she was sure that she would end up giving away her feelings for him. Allowing Gabriel to know she had fallen in love with him would be bad enough, without doing so publicly.
Well … the best defence was a good offence. She mentally apologised to her boss for what she was about to do.
“Oh, he’s an absolute slave-driver,” she said lightly. Gabriel’s jaw dropped, and the class burst into giggles. “Toughest boss in the world. But I get to live in a mansion, and his son’s a real sweetheart.” She winked at Adrien, who blushed slightly, looking pleased.
Gabriel frowned at Nathalie. “Are you saying the only reasons you work for me are free board and Adrien?”
“Of course not. I was teasing. You have your qualities too.”
He quirked an eyebrow. “And they would be?”
“Er …” Oops, how did I get here? “Well … there’s … your passion, and dedication, and … er …”
His face was now as red as she was sure hers was. A very awkward silence fell.
“Any more questions?” Nathalie asked, turning away quickly.
She was greeted with a stunned silence.
“In that case, we should get going,” Gabriel said.
~*~
Adrien jumped to his feet as soon as the door had closed behind them, grinning manically. “You all saw that, right?”
“Dude,” Nino said, sounding impressed. “Your dad and his assistant are so totally crushing on each other.”
“Aww, it’s so beautiful,” Miss Bustier said, wiping her eyes. “Adrien, are they …”
“Not yet,” Adrien said.
“Why the heck not?” Alix demanded. “That romantic tension’s so thick you’d need an axe to cut it!”
“Because my father is at the bottom of the diving end of the denial pool,” Adrien said. “And he’s too stubborn to learn to swim.”
“Nice metaphor,” Alya said. Kim gave Adrien an approving thumbs up.
“Thanks. And I think Nathalie’s convinced he could never see her in that way, despite all the hints I’ve been dropping.”
“Sounds like you need some help,” Marinette suggested.
“Funny you should say that.” Adrien pulled a letter out of his pocket. “Because someone gave me an idea.”
“An idea?”
“Who?”
“Don’t know.” Adrien handed it to Nino, who read it before passing it around the class.
“Whoever it is, they really can’t spell,” Alya commented.
“It must be someone in your household, if it’s printed on Gabriel stationary,” Marinette pointed out.
“I asked my bodyguard if he had sent it, but he swears he didn’t. He likes the idea, though. I have no idea who else could have had access.”
“They wouldn’t have necessarily needed access to your dad’s printer,” Chloé pointed out. “My parents, for example, have had letters and stuff from Mr Agreste many times. He could have simply sent a spare page by accident once.”
“You’re saying it was your parents?” Sabrina asked.
“Of course not. I already asked them.”
Adrien nodded. “And I asked Kagami and her mother as well. It didn’t come from them.”
“But they’re all on board,” Chloé said.
“Wait a moment, Adrien,” Miss Bustier said. “What exactly is this idea?”
Adrien grinned. “Well, you know how Valentine’s Day is coming up …”

Remember Felix? That scrapped character from the concept stages of the show (Ladybug PV) who was the OG Cat Noir? That one character that Astruc thought was an “anime cliché”, the one type he thought wasn’t “strong” enough to be in a dynamic with Ladybug and said he would “never” ever come into the now complete show “Miraculous Ladybug”? Well, guess what? He’s here! Yea! Except he looks like sh*t! Nay! How bad is the “canon” Felix, I’ll tell ya:
*Felix-We (sorta kinda) know how time works in the show, right? I mean, it’s been like, yeah, a year since Emilie “disappeared” and during that time (according to Alya in “Feast”), it’s been months since the dynamic duo and the big bad birds showed up too. With the questioning timeline, the Agrestes are honoring the one year anniversary of when their matriarch “vanished” and Adriens friends (even the faux fox and retired bee) cheer him up by sending him videos on how much they care about him with Marinette privately confessing her love (yeah, I know he won’t see that and what does that make it? The 563rd time? Not so charming. Oh well, tough sh*t).
From the promos, we saw a “figure” of what looked to be Emilie herself coming back, but since this is impossible, (cuz we know why) the fandom guessed correctly that it was in fact her identical twin sister, Amelie Graham de Vanily. Wow! They actually pulled that into the show, huh? Can this get any more obvious? Anyways, the only difference I could see between the two sisters is that they wear different colored outfits (Emilie-Pale Pink (or is it White cuz of the whole Yin-Yang theme?), Amélie-Black. Granted, it’s cuz the latters in mourning from her husbands death the same time Emilie was comatosed) because I can’t say how their personalities are since all’s we got about Emilie was that she was “loving and caring”, but that’s not enough. Amélie here, she seemed “nice” until we saw how she transparently wanted back the Agrestes wedding rings as they “rightfully belong to her side of the family. I’ll get to that soon.
Then we have, the moment we’ve been waiting for, the day that we never thought would happen, but it did! After all these years, The one who seemed to only exist in fanfics, brought back by popular demand! The man! The myth! The legend! Felix! (trumpets sound, but then untriumphantly fall flat).............I know.............it’s greatly disappointing (sigh). He differs SO MUCH more greatly than his mother and aunt compared to his PV. The eyes, the hair, the facial structure, the height, the age, I get the gist, I don’t need to explain it to you guys. I’m on the side where I prefer the PV Felix too.
Maybe this would go better if we compared the two Felixes. Let’s start with PV Felix. We only knew him from the concept promo years ago and were only given just a little info until we read up more about him and it was enough to give us an idea of his character. From what we saw, he was a stereotypical anime love interest type being all cold, reserved and distant from others like in the scenes where he was ignoring PV Marinette and in one art, using his powers to make an apple fall on her head. There was a reason for that. He was cursed with bad luck from his miraculous (in the developing stages for the show) and didn’t want to put any one in harms which made him go into a pissy mode. As his Cat Noir self, he was more wild and carefree with a sense of justice and he was happy to spend time with Ladybug. Some didn’t like that he tried to seduce her into kissing him to free himself from the ring, but we don’t know if it gave him the inability to tell her or the thought just never crossed his mind (shrugs). In the end, he seemed like he would’ve gone through character developement had the show been picked up by that format.
As for our “Miraculous Ladybug” Felix, he’s a “Mini Me” because just like Gabe, he too has changed drastically after the loss of a loved one. He was cold and distant to Adrien as well and messed with Plaggs cheese and he had his reason too, he was upset with Adrien for not attending his fathers funeral. However, he acted that way even after Adrien apologized for that! Adrien likes to see the good in rotten people such as Chloe and Lila and tries to excuse their spoiled selves to others. Chloe, he knows her mother walked out on her and she was his only friend growing up. Lila, she’s home alone all the time and he sympathies with that and believes she lies to get attention (which is the first reason). So now, with Felix, it’s cuz he was close with him in the beginning and he lost his father. Little does Adrien know, all three have gone to the dark side. Felix “changes” in the end after almost getting himself killed and makes amends with Adrien (I like to think it’s genuine). However, he still has a grudge with Gabe and pick pocked his ring, but only cuz his mother wanted it. The only thing they kept of “Canon Felix” was his name, clothes and the a**hole personality. Speaking of which, it comes out when he impersonates Adrien and badmouths his friends on his “cheer up” video offending Alya, Rose and Juleka to become the The Punishers Trio.
Oh! Don’t get me started on those three here! I’ve seen fans come up with theories on how they perceived them like for example, them being the equivalent of The Fates from Greek Mythology, but Noooooooooooooooo! That didn’t happen! Instead, what did we get!? Just their signature akumatized forms with a group name! Lame! (although, I did have a tiny theory Felix would side with them, so that part I liked) That just doubles the disappointment for this ep! To make matters worse, THIS WAS THE LAST EPISODE WE GOT FOR SEASON 3! UGH! Biggest.disappointment.for.the.show.ever! :P.
Although disappointing, considering the fandom had high expectations of Felix to be a CGI version of his PV self, there were at least a few interesting things good enough to get through with this. First, Gabriel almost told Adrien the dark truth about him being Paris’s public enemy #1 (maybe this would’ve gone better talking through a heartfelt “mono-a-mono” then traumatizing the poor guy, physically abusing him and even akumatizing him that lead to Kevin Costner’s, “Waterworld”). Then Adrien says he supports Gabenath and that he has his blessing (guess he’s been browsin’ Tumblr and discovering somethin’ goin’ on between his dad and his assistant huh?), but Gabe calls him a “Banana Haired Idiot and to go f**k himself”. Rude! Least somebody knows how to move on and seek happiness elsewhere instead of jumping into supervillainy, brainwashing innocent civilians and almost killing people all for a pair of magical jewelry from two teenagers to bring back his “dead” wife! On the subject of Nat, she can kick ass! So it’s not just as a supervillainess she can do that, she knew moves beforehand! Maybe she should double as Adriens bodyguard. Also, on the ship support, Luka happily ships Adrienette despite his own interest in Marinette cuz he too wants happiness for others. Finally, the best moment that helped get over the ep was the whole “No! means No!” scene between Ladybug and Felix (disguised as Adrien) where she decks him out for being a pig. Girl Power!💖✊ Good thing she knew Adrien was a gentlemen to not be so forward (and as a bonus, give the audience a “Take That!” to the show of how displeased we were of canon Felix). Thank you, Ladybug! Now onto the serious talk, The Graham de Vanily rings. What is it about them that Amelie wanted them back so badly!? It was never explained as that was just to get us hooked and eager for the reveal in Season 4, but just what is so intriguing about them? Are they of value? Like, worth a fortune? Is it an amok to expand on the “Adrien being a sentimonster” theory (and for that matter, Felix!?), Are they magic? Is there a secret Miracle Box we don’t know of where they’re a miraculous? WHAT!? Ugh! More unanswered questions! They just won’t end will they? Personally, I just thought it was low of Gabe to take his own wife’s ring as a replacement, WTF Dude!?

17. 6. 27. 7. *gets comfy*🍷
Girl get ready
17. Instead of XYZ happening I would have made ABC happen.
So I kind of post a lot of my fix it fic ideas either here or in discord (I literally just posted one this morning lol) but I think in Frozer instead of Kagami telling Marinette that she never hesitates she should have said something along the lines of "If you want Adrien to notice you then be more confident in yourself" because I think that can come off as less "rude" and honestly I think that girls fighting over a boy is a tired trope. Give me girls supporting each other and building each other up. Sick of all this love dodecahedron drama. If the boys can get along, why can't the girls?
6. Is there a pairing that I used to hate that I enjoy now?
Wellllll, so initially I didn't like Ch//lo//nette at all like it made me physically uncomfortable to see, but at the time I followed a few blogs that loved Chloe and the ship and a lot of people were talking about it, and I was currently writing a Chloe redemption in Lady du Coeur where I was starting to like her more and the friendship that she and Marinette were building, so I decided to try my hand at writing it to see if I could set it up in a way that made it seem less icky to me. And I did. I wrote To Tame a Queen, and I wrote a couple other drabbles for them but then had a falling out with someone I was loose fandom friends with who loved that ship and kind of started associating that ship with that person and how they made me feel, so now I'm kind of back to square one where it makes me uncomfortable again but for a different reason. It's the reason I've never written a continuation of that story like I said I would and why I was turned off to Chloe's character for a bit. Canon didnt help much in s2 either. So I guess the short answer is no lol but you didn't come here for the short answers. ;) Most other ships that I don't like, I still don't like lol. Not much has changed on that front. That was kind of the only one.
27. Least shippable character?
Probably Gabriel Agreste. Canon lately has made me like Gabethalie, Gabenath? Nathriel? Less because one of the things I liked about the ship was that Emilie was lost and Nathalie cares about both him and Adrien and helps him move on, but then canon happened so now I don't care. I barely even ship him with his own wife tbh. Though I do think that he and Audrey deserve each other. They should just move to NY together and let Gorilla adopt Adrien. At least then he could see his friends.
7. Oh fuck what was this question? I'm on mobile so I just write down kind of the gist of the question but my note isnt specific hang on brb dont reblog this yet shhhh
Is there anything I used to like that I can't stand now?
Ummm, this one is tricky because a lot of the things that I have changed my opinion on are either I didn't like it and now I do or I didn't consider it and now I do or in the case mentioned above I didn't like it then I liked it and now I don't like it again.
I feel like most of the things that I can't stand about this show have to do with bad writing or the fandom, and even then I would say that "can't stand" is kind of too harsh for how I feel.
Like I love Adrien and the love square. Catch me drooling over Adrinette and Ladrien all day long, but I am a little aggravated with how he has been portrayed in canon at times namely in Glaciator and Frozer when he pouts about Ladybug. Like I can understand being upset about the person you love not liking you back, but just the whole set up both times and how he behaves like Ladybug is in the wrong for not loving him just screams entitled "nice guy" and I can't stand that for his character. Especially because it's never corrected. If Adrien is supposed to be this perfect example to young boys then that behavior should be painted as wrong because that is behavior that women are actively trying to fight in men nowadays. And for the writers to set it up as "oh boo hoo poor baby gets no love" just perpetuates that mindset that men are entitled to a women's affection if they're "nice" and that if women don't give them affection for being nice then they are in the wrong and being unfair. I do still love Adrien. I love writing him, but that's because I allow him to make mistakes and get called out and learn from them. I let him be imperfect and flawed and human. I just wish that canon would do the same.

The backstory was cute, though it does create some plot holes if you compare it with the information we got from “Passion”:
There Gabriel already had the money to employ Nathalie and went with her on expeditions while Emilie joined them later and then fell in love with Gabriel. But, from the leaked storyboards Emilie and Gabriel fell in love before he became rich. Another thing is, if Emilie was such a free spirit, why did she lock Adrien in the house and didn’t allow him to make friends outside the “rich circle group”?
That story also shows just how much TA despises anyone who’s rich (poor humble tailor Gabriel -> good; rich prince Gabriel -> bad). They’re all villains in his mind. Seriously, why couldn’t have Amelie and Colt marry for love too? Or at least have them be friends, but because of social obligations they went along with the marriage even if there was no “love” between them. They could have still made Colt turn evil later, after he gets sick and understands why.
The GabeNath bait-and-switch is horrible (seven years of development for nothing). At this point, we know how these writers introduce something, set it up and then procede to blow it apart, but I wasn’t expecting that to happen. What a disappointment. This story should have been about Gabriel letting Emilie go, like she wanted, and realise (like Adrien did in “Félix”) that Nathalie was there by his side all along. Thus teaching kids a good moral lesson, by showing that even if you can’t have control over everything that happens in your life, you have the power to move on and not let that grief drown you, but this is MLB so we can’t have nice things.
The fact that Adrien, a titualr character, was cut out his own story and Marinette is the only one who knows the whole truth is garbage. That poor kid has been reduce to a prop, it’s a shame. I hope he discovers the truth in s6, but I don’t think I’ll keep watching.
That said, I always knew the writers don’t give a crap about good messages and family values. This proves it. Astruc should be ashamed after lying about Gabriel’s fate. He said he wasn’t going to die for respect of Latin American’s kids watching the show that sadly don’t have a father (due to being in jail or dead), and TA managed to lie in these kids faces. Wow. Now, Gabriel giving his life for Adrien’s sake could have worked, but seeing how the story developed throughout s1-4, this ending makes everything pretty much pointless. Again, this was a story of “learning to let go”, giving Gabriel his wish goes against what the story was set up to be in the first place. There could have been other ways to end this arc that would’ve made sense story-wise and wouldn't have left Adrien fatherless.
Maybe season 6 going forwards, Adrien discovers his father sacrificed himself to save Emilie and tries to get him back someway? But I don’t think the writers would ever do that. Although Astruc did say Gabriel would still appear post s5... but at this point, I can’t trust anything the man says anymore.
Again, I’m also not a fan of Marinette knowing the truth and actively lying to Adrien by omission, and dating him while doing so (I wonder if she’ll tell Nathalie and Emilie at least). I know Gabriel asked her not to tell him, but I can’t understand how keeping such a thing from someone is good. Adrien deserves the truth, at least about him being a senti (maybe it will become a plot later on). Until then, the writers have created a bigger power imbalance in the relationship (it was bad enough with “Chat Blanc”), where Marinette has all the knowledge and Adrien knows nothing. That’s not a healthy relationship, which should be based on honesty and trust, not... this. No hate to Marinette, btw, I’m just pointing out stuff.
Regardless, these characters deserved better. This story deserved better and so did the fans.
-
@tengo-sentimientos-saben you asked me my opinion on the newly revealed leaks. Now that I’m caught up, here’s what I think. I agree with you, there are a lot of flaws in this story and I believe this ending will turn a lot of people away from the show (worse than the s3 finale).
Congrats MLB S5…you have become the 💩 show I always knew you could be.
Rant 1: the emilie/Gabriel backstory is adorable
Rant 2: Nathalie vs Gabriel? We alllll knew it was coming, but my goodness it ripped my heart out. I hope there’s a time reversal or some kind of multiverse where gabenath could have been a thing. I just can’t accept gabriel is gone for good, especially the way they portrayed his “death”.
Rant 3: the way they COMPLETELY excluded Adrien from determining his own happiness and discovering his father’s failures is so inexcusable. It’s his bloody life that is controlled by the rings! Geez.
Rant 4: Adrien is fatherless which is never ideal. I have a feeling this is not going to end well for him. The writers could have written a redemption arc for Gabriel, but instead they pushed him to be a complete monster which goes against the conflicted villain he was in S1-4. Locking adrien away? Holy freakamoly :(
Overall, the finale is very well written, but ethically I see some flaws.
#and i had so many stories/comics about gabriel and nathalie post s5...#sad#i 'll post them anyways but the motivation has wained#sorry op for the long addition#i'm just rambling#ml leaks#ml season 5#ml spoilers

GabeNath Week day 5: HawkNath.
< Previous | Next >
Read the whole week on AO3
Seven Weeks Later
ONE
Adrien was sitting alone in the dining room. Nathalie had waited a few days after the argument in the car to schedule a meal for Adrien and Gabriel. That one had gone well, but every one after that had been a fight. So Adrien was sitting alone.
She decided to play her new game.
"Mr. Agreste? I need your opinion on something, if you have a moment."
Gabriel nodded distractedly and paused whatever was on his screen. He walked to where she stood beside her desk, expecting her to extend her tablet for him to see. Instead she turned and exited the office. Gabriel followed her, glancing around for what he was supposed to declare judgement upon. She led him to the dining room door and opened it, her hand landing on his back.
"Adrien has seen you. If you leave now, it will be because you are a coward, unwilling to acknowledge his son's feelings. I strongly encourage you to not be that person."
He tried to shift away from the threat that was her hand, but it followed him.
"I expect you to finish the filing by the time I'm back," he hissed at her.
"Of course, Mr. Agreste."
She walked away, knowing she had only won the battle, not the war.
But he was just so easy. A cheerful, "Mr. Agreste" and he'd follow her off a cliff. She wouldn't admit it (not that she had anyone to admit it to), but she enjoyed tricking him. She wondered if her double knew the power she had over him.
Gabriel had his own little victories though. He would bring her coffee, but he would not bring creamer. Or give her decaf. He would send her on errands during the day that turned out to be wild goose chases. The phone he ordered her was the slowest, oldest model still available. He made work as inefficient as possible while demanding the same time schedule as he had with "his" Nathalie. The perfectionist she was, she couldn't just leave the work to wait.
Adrien, bless him, was mostly oblivious. He still hadn't noticed that the red streak in her hair had switched sides. He did try to ask Nathalie why she and Gabriel were fighting, but she simply confused him with a hug.
With the translated spell and a fair idea of what had gone wrong, they needed a magical expert to help them undo the switch.
Nathalie had a few ideas of who could help. Not that she was planning on telling Hawkmoth who they were.

Ladybug and Chat Noir had been wounded in the fight that killed Gabriel, Nathalie found out. They hadn't been going out as often and their rampages were shorter and weaker than normal. The General had been going out only when their destruction threatened highly populated areas. However, they were now unopposed, and it was only a matter of time before they figured that out. Kubdel split his time researching how the Nathalies had gotten switched, searching for new miraculous holders, and smuggling valuable museum artifacts out of the abandoned Louvre between raids on the building. Nathalie found herself being an assistant to anyone who needed it. She babysat the Cesaire twins, she helped Alix and Mylene with homework, she drove Adrien to Japanese lessons, she kept inventory in code for Penny. She was accepted into the crowd a little too quickly, given the benefit of the doubt for her appearance. She was standoffish and reticent and absolutely refused to swap "war stories", though no one guessed it was because hers were all the wrong ones. But no one seemed to mind, and Adrien seemed to find comfort in her presence.
So she stayed. She worked. She researched and tried to be as little a burden to these people as she could.
It didn't feel like enough.
Maybe that feeling was what made her do it. Maybe being around an Adrien who saw her differently was the cause. She couldn't know for sure.
"Mr. Agreste,
I need you to know that I"
"Gabriel,
I've tried to"
"Sir,
My time in the other world has left me no choice. I have to"
She closed the notebook again and tucked it under her arm. She didn't have a tablet. There was no need for one here, but she needed something to carry with her everywhere. It felt right.
The front door opened with a bang and Nathalie ducked into a crouch, listening. When she heard Jagged shouting, she felt a little safer (It wasn't an attack or a raid, at least), but he never came home this early, and he knew that slamming doors and raised voices put everyone on edge.
"Sweetheart? Nat? We gotta move, we gotta get the word out!"
Nathalie ran downstairs, meeting Jagged and Adrien in the hall, and Penny in the kitchen.
"We've got one shot. One shot to get this to work."
"Get what to work?" Nathalie asked. At least she had years of experience forcing another version of Jagged to sit still, focus, and answer questions.
"An attack. The big one, the one we've had planned for almost a year. If we do this right, we can cripple the regime's control for months. Possibly enough to bring them down."
"Then we need Kubdel," Adrien said. "We need the miraculous."
She didn't like the look in Adrien's eye.

ONE
Nathalie had made an excuse at lunch time to leave the office. She was surprised that her complaints about cramps were met with sympathy and a sincere offer of the afternoon off if she needed it. It was the moments when he acted most like her Gabriel that hurt the most, made her hate him the most. It made using him as a bargaining chip to get home easier in some ways, harder in others.
"Hello, Master Fu," Nathalie said when he opened the door to his massage parlor.
"Welcome," he said, guiding her to sit with him at a small table. "You didn't say on the phone, what services were you looking for?"
"Knowledge of the miraculouses and magic." She reached into her bag to pull out her tablet. "You can understand why I didn't ask for this over the phone, I'm sure."
"I think you have me confused for someone else," Master Fu said.
"In my world, Master Fu was paired with Wayzz. Is he here? I've missed him. I know he won't know me, but it would be nice to see a version of the kwami I knew, all the same."
Wayzz popped out of his fish tank to float over to her.
"Master, she is-"
"Not of this world," Master Fu finished. He turned his phone for Wayzz and Nathalie to see. He had brought up a press photo of Gabriel giving a speech a few years ago, Nathalie hovering behind him. "You're from a Mirror World."
"I see I chose well in looking for someone who knows more about the magic that brought me here than I do."
"How exactly did you end up here?"
"I will tell you what I know," she said. "But my safety, and the safety of a few others- the whole city, really, is at risk. I have to know that you won't alert Ladybug and Chat Noir until I have secured a way home. Do you agree?"
"You know something worth my silence? Something the heroes would want to know?"
He had that knowing look that always annoyed her so much.
"Do you know how to get me home?" she asked.
"I know a few ways to get you home," he said. "But none will be effective if I don't know how you got here."
Nathalie nodded. "I know who Hawkmoth is. His attempt to strengthen his power did this. He needs to be stopped before he reaches the level of power of my world's Ladybug and Chat Noir."
"You know who he is?"
"I'll confirm the name after you have a solution," she said.
Master Fu nodded.
"It seems we have a lot to talk about."

Fred Haprèle had a map laid out on the dining room table. Nathalie wasn't sure if it was a cliche or actually necessary, but she stood with the others, listening to him explain the plan he and the General had outlined in the event this happened. "The not-so-miraculous duo will be heading out to do their thing around eight. That leaves about a ninety minute window when they're out and the Vice Royal Dictator is out of his fortified home travelling to His Royal Dictatorship's estate. The travel team is ready to go on our signal. The teams striking the government buildings are mobilizing, but need a little longer to all get in place. So we're out of time. Kubdel, we need at least one miraculous holder to keep Ladybug and Chat Noir busy. What do you have?"
"Not a lot," Kubdel said. "We only have three miraculouses, and the Bee is damaged, but I can't figure out how. We have the Agreste miraculouses, but they won't seem to bond with any of the people I tested. Master Fu did not leave good notes on the selection process."
"Hand it around the room," Nathalie said.
Everyone turned to stare at her. It was the first input she had ever had for any of the few meetings she had attended.
"What will that do?" Penny asked.
"Everyone who would be willing to wield it tonight should try holding it, regardless of whatever the normal rules are for bonding to a miraculous. It's just for one mission, so regardless of long term compatibility, someone is bound to bond well enough to take it for the night. Sometimes you just know who can wield it, sometimes you need a more open approach."
"How do you know that?"
"Just research. Research in my world. We didn't have access to a Guardian."
She knew because Gabriel had tried sneakily handing the Peacock Miraculous to a few people, including herself, but never found one that bonded. He had heard of the method as a folk lore in Tibet.
Kubdel nodded and started lining people up to try the Peacock and the Butterfly. No one who volunteered was a match.
"Keep looking," Penny said, patting his arm. "We still have an hour."
The group broke into groups, discussing and planning and worrying. Nathalie sat with Penny and Jagged.
"Little Prince or Farrah isn't liking all the excitement," Penny said, rubbing a spot where her baby kept kicking.
"So long as he or she stays in there the rest of tonight, I'm sure I'll find a way to forgive him or her for kicking my wife."
"You know, I think that's the first thing you've said about your team," Penny said to Nathalie. "What's your usual role when there's an attack?"
"If I'm not caught in the crossfire, I get as far from it as I can. I've hidden under my desk from akuma attack victims before, and I'll do it again."
"That's generally my policy," Jagged said. "I once managed to hide in a closet in a suitcase! Me, in a suitcase! I still can't believe I-"
"You're on their side," Penny breathed.
Everyone went still, one at a time, as the sense of unease passed through the room.
She had fucked up. Nathalie had fucked up, after weeks of covering her tracks perfectly. She had only wanted to help by volunteering that bit about finding a miraculous holder. Then she had stupidly answered a simple question.
"Your Hawkmoth wasn't worried about the effects of enhancing his power because the power was the goal itself, wasn't it?" Penny was pulling away from Nathalie, horror written on her face.
"No. No, you don't understand-"
"Hawkmoth is the villain for you," Penny said, standing to back away. "Just like your hair. Just like the hand you use to write. Even your relationship with Gabriel is different. Everything's flipped around with you, and we didn't even see it."
Nathalie raised a trembling hand to cover her mouth, horrified that tears would betray her now after so many years of obeying her demands to wait until she was alone.
"We let you in our home! We let you near Adrien! We trusted you!"
Nathalie would never know what Jagged planned to do when he took a step towards where she sat. The second he started moving, a blinding flash filled the room.
"Adrien," Nathalie sobbed. "No."
She knew what she had to do now.
/*****/

"I found the right fix. It will take me a bit to prepare it," Fu said into the phone held between his face and his shoulder as he started pulling ingredients down from a shelf. "I will come to you."
"Thank you," Nathalie said. She could only think about getting back home. "Text when you're on your way. I'll have everything ready."
Nathalie knew she had to get through the rest of the day acting normal with Gabriel. If he suspected she had gotten knowledge behind his back, suspected she'd betray him like this... she wasn't sure what he would do. She couldn't always predict this Gabriel's actions like she had been able to with her own.
Nathalie decided to check on Adrien, maybe burn off some of her excitement by listening to him talk about how his father had eaten a meal with him again.
"Plagg, Claws Out!"
Normally Nathalie would never violate Adrien's privacy by opening the door to his room before getting a response to a knock. But that phrase sounded like-
Chat Noir. Adrien. Oh.
She watched Chat Noir jump out his bedroom window, then backed out of the room, closing the door silently. She wandered back to the office on autopilot and sat down at her desk.
"You still look pale. At least go rest for a few hours," Gabriel said, stirring her from staring at her blank computer screen.
"I think I will," she said, grabbing her purse. Adrien was Chat Noir. In the room she frequently borrowed, Nathalie sat and thought about what this meant. She had limited time here. What could she do to fix this? Chat/Adrien was gone, and would be too difficult to track down. Leaving a note for him was risky, someone else might find it. She assumed Master Fu already knew Chat Noir's identity, and it made her angry, but wasn't a surprise. She knew what she wanted to do. But was it worth the risk?
Nathalie decided to try to sleep. In a few hours, one way or the other, everything was going to change again.
/*****/
TWO
Nathalie crossed the room in an instant. Adrien stood staring her down, the sting of betrayal making him look smaller even with the costume of his father's miraculous wrapped around him. He would make a good Hawkmoth someday, but right now he looked like he was playing dress up.
"I can't believe you," Adrien whispered. "You were... you were so kind to me. So patient when I called you the wrong thing. How could you work with someone like them?"
The move felt familiar, practiced. She had seen herself do it enough times in her mind. Though usually to Gabriel, not Adrien. Nathalie lifted a hand and set it on the side of Adrien's face, trying to communicate through her touch the weight of her regret.
Then she slipped her hand down to yank the miraculous from his chest.
The detransformation was bright, but she was expecting it. She fastened the brooch to her lapel and called on Nooroo's power.
"I'm sorry," she said to Penny, walking backwards to the door, keeping her and Jagged and Adrien in her sight as long as possible. "I'm so sorry. I never wanted this."
She ran into the night. She knew exactly where to go.
/*****/
ONE
Nathalie came back with a half hour until the end of the day. She finished a few urgent tasks and turned to Gabriel.
"I'll make up the time later this week, but I need us to get to work upstairs, if you don't mind."
Gabriel sighed but nodded. In the lair he flipped open a book and started taking notes.
"Gabriel?" Nathalie said, taking a step closer to where he sat.
"Mmm?"
"Look at me."
Gabriel looked up just as she stepped the rest of the way into his space. Her hands fell to his shoulders and she leaned down to kiss him. To her shock, he started kissing back. She slid one hand up to run her nails against the nape of his neck, the other down his chest. And back up to yank his miraculous from under his tie. She shoved him backwards off the stool and as luck would have it, he fell hard enough to be winded for a moment, giving her time to transform.
"I'll never forgive you for this," she whispered. She closed her eyes and said, "Teleport!"
She knew exactly where to go.
If you thought HawkNath meant Hawkmoth x Nathalie and not Hawkmoth!Nathalie, you were gravely mistaken.

Yeah, that fandom view of Adrien's legendary obliviousness is annoying. I have a feeling we got that scene "Adrien supports Gabenath" from Félix is there to show that he isn't that much obvious about romantic love as people think. Similarly like Weredad happened to show that Marichat has no chance to happen before the reveal, despite many people are counting on it.
Of course I have no problem with Luka being nice. Nice people are treasures, we need more nice people in general. But at the same time, Luka could show that he is a real human with real emotions. I don't like that he doesn't make real mistakes and shows no negative emotions (except for Silencer, but that happened for plot reasons). I have a lot of trouble believing that he is in love with Marinette, because he has never shown no sign the fact that Marinette prefers Adrien than him has any negative impact on him. He has never ever been a little sad because of it. That would make sense only if he sees Marinette as a good material for a girlfriend, but he isn’t in love with her, so being with her isn't a big deal for him. Also I don't like that almost all his presence in the show is to serve other characters (99% it's Marinette which makes it even worse), he doesn't stand for himself. The show doesn't bother showing what HE wants (outside of being a musician, but even that isn't fleshed out much), only how amazing servant for Marinette he is, who always comforts her and who does everything what she wants.
Seen many people claimed that Luka is far better than Adrien but what is it that make him better than Adrien? And some people like to claim that Luka know Mari is ladybug too because he has the ability to hear a person music is it tru?
Considering that I am not a Luka fan, I’m probably not the right one to ask. Most of the people who say that are Adrien salters anyway, so they’re usually more of the “Adrien’s a horrible human being” mindset, so it’s not exactly hard for them to justify Luka being better if their opinion of Adrien is so low.
As for Luka knowing that Marinette is Ladybug because he can hear a person’s music, that’s pure fanon. The whole “hearing a person’s music” thing has never really been explained, but I doubt it’d let him see through that disguise when it hasn’t for anyone else. The only scrap of evidence I’ve seen produced for “he knows who she is” is Luka smiling at Ladybug when she leaves at the end of Desperada, which... yeah that’s not exactly a solid case.
Is it POSSIBLE he may have figured out she’s Ladybug? Sure. Is there evidence to support it? Not really, especially if it’s to the extent of being used to say “hey look Luka’s better than Adrien, he can see that Ladybug is Marinette.” Usually this goes off of the whole “True Selves” nonsense, where Ladybug is considered a less legitimate persona than her as Marinette. It doesn’t even make much sense at this point as a method to boost Luka up above Adrien; Adrien has, CANONICALLY, jumped to Marinette being Ladybug twice based on a pretty small amount of evidence; once in Kwamibuster, and once in Chat Blanc. So that argument actually favors Adrien more than Luka, ironically enough.

MLB: Season Three Reactions
***major spoilers in post***
Well, season three was an emotional rollercoaster, wasn’t it? And for me at least, bittersweet. Unlike seasons one and two, which I straight-up loved all the way through, season three had some very high points and some very low points for me.
My favourite episodes, in order: Oblivio, Startrain, Felix, Weredad, Reflekdoll
Least favourites, in order: Cat Blanc, Timetagger
Ladybug and Kwami Buster are weird ones because they kind of fit onto both lists, for reasons I’ll go into further …
At present I’ve only seen Startrain onwards once; the previous episodes I’ve seen twice, except Oblivio which I’ve watched a LOT, and Ladybug which I skipped through the second time. I’m still in shock after CB and psyching myself to re-watch the latter part of the season again. (Though honestly I’m not sure I’ll be able to face CB again for a while …) If one of my points below is invalid because I’ve forgotten something, please feel free to correct me. Politely.
Okay, I could do an entire post on Cat Blanc, but I’m going to wait until I’ve seen it again, and focus on the other stuff for now.
Issues I have with season three:
1) This thing in Kwami Buster about, if Ladybug and Cat Noir find out who each other are, they’ll have to give up their Miraculouses. Where did that come from??
For starters, it doesn’t seem to apply to the other superheroes. Rena Rouge and Carapace know who each other are, and they’ve still been able to help out. Or at least Rena has; I can’t remember if Carapace actually appears in season three, but I’m sure she was mentioned in Miraculer. And, though everyone knew Chloe was Queen Bee from the beginning, she was still in several episodes before they decided she couldn’t do it anymore, but that was because everyone including Hawk Moth knew who she was. And I’ve only seen Timetagger once, but didn’t Bunnyx know who Ladybug and Cat Noir were? If she knew, how can they still be Ladybug and Cat Noir in the future? Or do they still not know who each other are when they’re adults? (I’ve long been a fan of Doctor Who so I’m no stranger to time travel fandoms, but I have to admit I am really confused by MLB’s time travel ideology …)
At any rate, I’m concerned what this means for the ship future, and that it might write off all possibility of a reveal before the end of the whole show, because otherwise they would no longer be the title superheroes, ergo no show. And really it would be nice to see them as a couple/knowing who each other really are for at least a few episodes before the show finale! (Though I suppose there’s always fanfiction …) And them having to give up being superheroes as the price for knowing who each other are would kind of put a damper on the long awaited reveal.
So yes, that bit really annoys and confuses me. Which is a shame, because otherwise the episode was awesome! (If a bit confusing on the first viewing; I really do have to watch it again.)
2) Already mentioned the Bunnyx/future thing. I think that’s something else I’m going to have to address after watching again, because I found Timetagger really confusing …
3) Chloe. I started to like her as a character in season two, when she started this development of becoming a better person and a superhero. I liked how she stood up to Hawk Moth in Miraculer and refused to be akumatized. But then … Miracle Queen … I’m really holding out for a redemption arc for her as well in future seasons.
4) Future Hawk Moth. Already said I’m not going into the future stuff, but this is something I don’t need to rewatch it for. I’m firstly relieved that Gabriel isn’t still akumatizing people years from now, but I was kind of hoping he and Mayura would end up joining the heroes’ team at the end of the show. Now that doesn’t look possible (unless he gets a different Miraculous). Shame, because that had so many possibilities I will now have to satisfy myself exploring through fanfiction.
5) The ships in season closing. I have nothing against Luka and have warmed up a bit to Kagami since Ikari Gozen, but I’m actually bothered slightly less by the fact they look all coupled up now, than the fact that they shared André’s ice cream. So clearly what they say about his ice cream isn’t true after all, and I find that quite disillusioning!
Unless the writers plan to keep Adrien with Kagami and Marinette with Luka, but I don’t believe it. (Wait, sudden thought … Sabine said couples who share André’s ice cream will STAY in love forever. So maybe it doesn’t count if the couple isn’t actually in love/one of the couple is in love with someone else? I’m going to choose to believe that.)
Now I’m going to address the Ladybug ep. My issue with that episode wasn’t the Lila stuff, although it was admittedly painful to watch! No … I had the idea in my head (probably influenced by my own fanfiction ideas) that Gabriel and Nathalie actually liked Marinette—as much as they like anyone outside each other and Adrien. So the picking on her bit just felt so jarring to me, and I fast-forwarded it when I watched the episode the second time out of a desire to see the Gabenath stuff again.
And now finally … to the good stuff!
Shippy highlights:
I wish the shippiest episode for one of my OTPs didn’t have to be one I had a different issue with, but someone helpfully put together a video of all the Gabenath bits from the episode, which I will definitely be watching whenever I get a shippy craving from now on. (Unfortunately … I can’t find it in my likes right now … otherwise I would have credited whoever made it!)
And I don’t have a picture for it, but I was delighted by the first Luka/Chloe canonical hint in Miracle Queen.
I also liked the idea of Marinette being the next Guardian (though I really wasn’t prepared for that to happen yet!), Multimouse, learning more about how the peacock Miraculous works (since Heroes’ Day alone didn’t make it very clear), the character of Duusu, and the fact that the peacock has finally been fixed. I know that spells bad things for Ladybug and Cat Noir, but since there is clearly no force on earth which can stop Nathalie helping Gabriel, I’m very glad she’s no longer putting her life at risk to do so. (And the fact he finally put his foot down was a long-awaited moment and definitely a highlight of Ladybug.)
