I don't remember when I stopped reading WangXian AU or canon divergence fanfic that rewrote the event of mdzs. Basically, the post-13 years still happen.

I wondered what good it is to read AU or divergence, if in the end Wei Wuxian still had to die horribly, and Lan Wangji still had to suffer?

I love WangXian, and I want them to be happy. I stopped reading such fanfics because I feel sad. I feel like, since they'd suffered a lot in canon, I want to read a scenario where they don't need to bear all those shit. Even if it is just fanfiction...

A) The first is where Lan Wangji, having learned Wei Wuxian has lost his core, uses an old technique that allows him to grow a second golden core (the idea being the user would absorb the second to make the original stronger), so he can donate one golden core to Wei Wuxian.

B) The second is where Wei Wuxian has been cursed or enchanted in some way that he can't remember Lan Wangji, who enters the Burial Mounds disguised as a new Wen so he can get to the bottom of it with the other Wens helping him in the ruse. There's a scene close to the end where he comes across Wei Wuxian being wooed by someone (think it was Su She) wearing his Wen disguise. It leads to a confrontation where Wei Wuxian tries to defend the false Lan Wangji against the real one and it leads to the spell breaking.

20. Hey :), I'm just trying to find an all old fic where Wei Wuxian didn't get torn to pieces and instead ended up immortalised. I half suspect that it was removed from ao3 but the details are as follows: wwx 'dies' but is found breathing, the cultivation world examines his body and finds him at gates of immortality essentially.

At this point JC figures out the core thing because they build a shrine for him and bring suiban (still sealed but he can remove it) and LQR does too (independently examing the body). When demonic cultivation starts being a problem again LQR starts a rumour that they need to "fight fire with fire' and efforts begin after 13 years to resurect Wei Ying. He wakes up mad, storms into a conference and LWJ follows him out when he storms out. He bumps into Jingyi at the koi tower steps, later down the line adopts Mo XuanYi from the Mo village (joking that his name is stranger isntead of saying hes the YLZ), end up wearing lwj overrobe at one point and finally once again travelling with LY and LJY.

Plot really picks up when they enter the town which was affected by the demonic cultivation. It is deserted, but they encounter the being that tormented him in the burial mound, XY, and other new-immortals. Its revelead immortality is gained through suffering like WWX had and he's forced to accept a demonic core to save JC and JL. He dies once again in Gusu but LWJ keeps pooling qi into him, which makes his resurrection faster.

more wen!wwx au, this time with that barely mentioned Qin Su portion from before. Idk what canon this takes place in. probably some unholy mishmash of novel and cql with emphasis on cql. if it’s unclear, murder turtle refers to the Xuanwu of Slaughter

for context of the au, wwx ended up kinda adopted? by the Burial Mounds after his parents died, and then Wen Ruohan’s wife found him and took him in. blah blah blah wrh evil blah blah blah demonic cultivation blah blah blah handwavey magic stuff. that’s why wwx is already a “demonic cultivator” during the murder turtle sequence

“What are we fighting?” Jin Zixuan asks, and Wei Wuxian would be proud of the character development the Jin Sect Heir has obviously gone through if the resentful energy in this cave weren’t so cloyingly thick.

He presses a hand to his forehead, then focuses his attention inward, to the steady thrum of his golden core.

“Wei Wuxian?” Wen Qing murmurs, coming to walk next to him. Wen Chao is prattling on to the other sects’ disciples. The resentful energy resolves itself into screaming.

“It’s loud,” Wei Wuxian says finally. It’s not as loud as Yiling was, as the Burial Mounds were, when he was smaller. The voices here aren’t calling for revenge. 

They’re just screaming.

Wei Wuxian is brought back to himself when he’s shoved down the side of a cliff. That’s inside of a cave. He wants to laugh at the irony, except the voices are louder down here.

He thinks about screaming himself, but then someone is pulling him to his feet.

“Wei Ying,” Lan Zhan says. “Are you alright?”

He nods. “Yeah, Lan Zhan,” he says, because he’s perfectly fine physically. The only thing the voices are doing is screaming. They aren’t actually hurting him.

Lan Zhan frowns, eyebrows drawing closer together, but before he can say anything, the rest of the guest disciples come down.

“They’ve cut the ropes,” Jin Zixuan says, throwing the limp ropes back down. Some of the Yao disciples start bickering about their parents. Wei Wuxian wants to scream, because half the disciple here still won’t trust him, his core is sealed indefinitely, Wen Zhuliu took Suibian, and the resentful energy is still screaming at him.

“There is an exit,” Lan Zhan says, voice steady. Wei Wuxian turns to look at him, hissing when even the small movement pulls at the new brand on his chest.

When the other disciples look apprehensive, Lan Zhan turns towards the Xuanwu’s part of the cave. “There were maple leaves,” he clarifies, and Jiang Wanyin nods.

“Yes, there must be an opening. If someone can distract the Xuanwu, I can swim down and find it,” he offers. Lan Zhan hums an affirmative.

Wei Wuxian winces as they get closer to the Xuanwu. The energy is thrumming with resentment, focusing in on... “There’s something in the turtle,” he says suddenly, and Lan Zhan and the other sect heirs turn to stare at him.

“What do you mean, in the turtle?” Jin Zixuan snaps, and wow, Wei Wuxian really underestimated the other boy. When he’s not being an arrogant peacock, he really is quite smart. He might even one day be worthy of Yanli-jie.

“There’s a-- a focal point for the resentful energy in its shell,” Wei Wuxian tries to explain, but it’s hard to think around the headache that has formed to explain something he just instinctively knows. “The spirits are-- they’re attached to it.” He drives more focus towards the point, and then all the voices scream in tandem, and Wei Wuxian’s hands go up to his ears as he stumbles back, hitting into other disciples, but he can’t find it in himself to care because it’s so loud. He might be screaming with them. He isn’t sure.

The Xuanwu rears up, roaring, and then something black shoots through the top of its shell and the turtle collapses into the water.

Wei Wuxian barely has time to register that before the world slips away from him. He hears Lan Zhan cry out his name and then he is aware of nothing more.

“What the hell did he just do?” Jiang Wanyin demands, and Lan Wangji finds he has no idea either. Jin Zixuan picks up one of the fallen torches and throws it at the water, but the Xuanwu doesn’t react.

“He killed it,” a Jin disciple says, her voice high and wavering. Wangji remembers her fighting in tandem with Jin Zixuan in the earlier skirmish.

“How?” A BalingOuyang disciple pushes to the front of the group. “He said resentful energy, then something about spirits?”

“His core was sealed. Was it demonic cultivation?” a Jiang disciple puts forth.

“Who cares how he did it; the thing’s dead!” a girl shouts. “Are we going to try to get out of here or stand around and prattle on like it’s a discussion conference!” She shoves her way to the front of the crowd, flanked on either side by older disciples from her sect. “Jiang Wanyin, you said you could swim down to find the opening the maple leaves came through?”

Jiang Wanyin and Jin Zixuan stand by Qin-guniang. She did not attend the lectures at Cloud Recesses; he does not know her name, even despite the fact she is obviously her sect’s heir. The Qin sect is very small; he cannot recall having learned anything about them aside from the fact that Jin Guangshan favours them.

“Now, Lanling is the closest great sect that is still standing; Yunmeng is a few days further, but more likely to accept all of us. Jin and Jin subsidiary sects can drop off at Lanling if they feel so inclined, but my sect is going to Yunmeng. “A’Su,” Jin Zixuan starts, but Qin-guniang makes a silencing motion with her hands.

i’m not really sure how wwx is already a demonic cultivator at this point in the story, but it’s got smth to do with the burial mounds taking him in as a child, bc i’m nixing the yin iron plot from cql. i think it’s dumb and pointless and i don’t want to deal with it. let wrh be evil without magic evil rocks. let xue yang be a street rat with no history. let wwx make an evil amulet from a magic sword that’s just a magic sword with no creepy nursery rhyme to go with it

I Have Always Loved The Door is the Wen Qing/Mianmian fic that all the wlw wanted but canon could not in any way make happen 

This is part one of three, i’m sorry, but it is a 30k fic and i’ve never written anything this long. it’s like. six months of my life. annotations are gonna be longer, too.

What is this fic About? Uh. Lots. Mostly your relationship with your past and your future. making choices about what you carry with you into your life.

title is from Charly Bliss’ “Percolator” but like. the rest of the fic is in no way related to the song. Just the lyrics “I have always loved the door/but I will always love you more/I love metaphors” fit well for the wen qing mood

it is a fucking CRIME that wen qing died, and while i’m happy that luo qingyang got a happy ending with a soft man who just wants to make her happy, i think she deserves more. so i gave her a fancy job

i struggled with the outline for this so much until i realized that mianmian’s canon arc is partially about saying goodbye to your home/family because you no longer fit there + it’s not a great place anymore. and that’s so close 2 wen qing’s

so that drove a great part of the plot, and helped shape the youya/tuzai bit

1. i've got a bunch of favorite fics but _none of them are finished _and ajdkskks i do have some that are finished but i can't remember for the life of me what they're called. so here are five of my favorites: love, in fire and blood by cicer (which i'm recommending to all of my mutuals always) which is a 212K wip of immortal/yp!wwx + war prize au with no rpe/noncon but in the first two chapters lwj is afraid of that happening. it doesn't. then there is this time/universe/dimension travel fic called a song to bring you home by neoserenity, where basically canon!lwj who mourns wwx meets a modern!sick wwx and apparently there is no modern equivalent of lwj? or at least wwx doesn't seem to know one. the updates are sparse but i reread this so often in hopes that updates will appear. an arrow through time by syrus_jones is a young!lwj time traveling to post canon mdzs and pining after "husband" and wwx at the same time and feeling guilty over it bcs he doesn't know wwx is "husband" and then there is the murder of crows by cerbykerby which is a yilingwei sect au. here is a modern office au: hello, IT. have you tried turning it off and on again?* **by overmountainandmeadow, which us just really funny so i've been reading this for stress relief. i actually quote like time travel aus? also just wangxian meeting other versions of themselves is fun!! i have a bunch of modern college au tabs open but i don't actually seek them out, if i see one and like the plot then i'll read it. there are a lot of good time travel aus in this fandom!! also i like it when people get wangxian together earlier than in canon, it's just really fun to see how that would go. i don't remember the name but i think there was one fic where lwj tried to flirt with wwx and wwx just didn't notice? until somebody pointed it out to him i think? that was fun to read because lwj was just so frustrated!!

2. i feel like i forget what shows i watched after i watched them? movies too, though i like to stick to rewatching movies i already know. but here are some shows: dark on netflix, if you have netflix it should be there, it's a german netflix show about time travel and fate and things being really fucked up. basically there is this endless loop of the world apocalypse happening in 2019? 2020? i'm not that sure of the timeline rn but it's either 2019 or 2020!! and jonas, the male lead, wants to prevent it but this shit gets complicated because this is a time loop, everything he has done has been done before him. there are some really great quotes in the show about things, there is a wangxian gifset that actually uses a quote from dark, and that's the one about having three deaths. (i'll probably add a link to the gifset when i find it) also martha, the female lead, seems not that important in the first season but don't be fooled by that. the ending is.... complex and cool and holy shit there is still one thing we don't know and ahdkksks it's a surprise tho so 👀👀. i recommend watching it in german if possible and with subtitles. i've watched a few scenes in english and idk the voice actors don't seen to fit, but i don't know about other languages. the 100 is also a pretty good show but it's.... it has queerbaiting. and to be honest, the queerbaiting is probably the only reason the show made it to a seventh season. lexa, a lesbian, dies and they use her death for the queerbaiting since she gets together with clarke, the lead character. clarke is a character that gets a lot of hate from both fandom and the characters, a lot of unfair hate if you ask me. she has to do a lot of decisions that are just not meant to be for a single human being, @/solntserises and i and a lot of arguements over placing the blame on her or placing the blame on society and the situation itself. clarke basically does what she needs to do, what she needs to do in order to protect her people, her friends, her family. she often just doesn't have good options, and if she has then she deems the risk too high or something too good to be true (which, she often is right about???). after s1 her friends push her into situations where she has to make the hard choice, but if it doesn't work out how they want it to work out they get mad at her. which is not fair. i remember hearing that raven finally understands what clarke goes through in s7? but i haven't watched the season. i gave up the moment lexa died and didn't want to watch past it, but when @/solntserises started we watched the other seasons together.

there is also shadowhunters which is an okay show ig, i've watched vikings until s5 too and i quite liked it, prison break has a lot of cool stuff to offer but i'd be careful watching it in case of any triggers you might have. i don't remember 100% of the plot but enough to say that one of the characters is a pervert and an awful person, so lots of murder, a lot of blood and yeah. the two main characters are brothers and mostly innocent in this but yeah. they break out of a prison y'know.

lucifer is !!! i think it goes after dc comics? so ig it's somehow part of the dceu but they're like.... never mentioned so idk. it's really fun tho!! you probably have heard from the vampire diaries right? yeah well, there is a spin off called the origianls and it's actually really good. it had some times where i was going to call it off but it's fine, legacies is both tvd's and to's spinoff and from the quality it can't really compare, it's still fun to watch and seeing the new generation grow up. (also a lot more canon gays)

for some movies: i don't really watch many but i've watched every movie in the mcu so far, i have the extended special editions for both the lord of the rings and the hobbit trilogy, the half of it is about ellie chu, an asian girl living in a small town with her depressed dad and falling in love with aster flores, and just.... finding herself, finding out what she wants, who she is and trying to figure out where life takes her. the movie is great!! the romance process is really slow and not that much of the main focus, but more of ellie finding her place in the world? the old guard is a fantastic movie that i watched because of @/keiraknigthly, it's really fun to watch!!
