[Caesar and Proximus' day to day life] [headcanons]

Summary: You're a human companion to the two apes, this is little things to expect as you live with them and in addition, the rest of the apes.

A/N: first Planet of the apes request!! I'm so excited, shoutout to the other writers on ao3 I've looked up to for years. I hope this is okay anon! I couldn't reference back to your ask since I lost it and I hope this is the general idea you were hoping for 💀🙏

[Caesar]

For the sake of this, Caesar did NOT die at the end of war, and you're immune to the disease! (Nova is also fine here bc fuck you that's my daughter)

Truth be told it was very very very fortunate for you that you appealed to his good side after all this time, He's tired.

Tired of being hurt, tired of losing family, but he has no choice but to push on, when you offered at first to help him with any injuries or issues that arise in the colony, it's a firm no.

Despite everything he's been through, Caesar does love humans, he think a part of him always will, so just keep trying and you will crack his shell.

Once you two finally have something akin to friendship, is when he finally learns that he can rely on you.

It isn't uncommon to see you holding Cornelius and walking to and from different parts of the colony, Caesar trying in vain to tell you to let the boy down, saying you'll start to spoil him (it's too late, Cornelius will start to go to you for when his dad tells him no.)

Caesar doesn't really think he'd ever find another mate, but without his notice, you start to fill in that role.

Spending the most time with him, helping him make decisions, taking care of Cornelius, helping the other apes learn and sign, you take on the role fairly well.

It isn't uncommon for you to tend to his wounds, he prefers to go to you versus the others, he acts akin to a child when in your care though, hissing dramatically when you rub a salve on his forearm. It results in you slapping his shoulder and it makes him laugh.

Speaking of laughing, he never thought having you around would lighten the weight of the world he constantly holds over his shoulders, you make him feel young again. Before all of this.

He grows fonder of you when he sees some aspects of Caroline in you, noting just how loving and caring you are not only to him, but to everyone, Maurice, Rocket, even Bad ape with how much of an odd ball he is.

Caesar may be the leader (and old, you remind him. He ignores you.) but it doesn't mean he can stay at the colony all day, he goes out to hunt with the others, and when he does, he'll come to you and do a palms up, waiting for your permission.

He doesn't need it, but it makes you feel better when you see him off.

Maybe this is me projecting but he is SO possessive of you, he's lost so much, he lost Buck, Luca, Blue eyes, Cornelia, Koba, Will, his grandfather.

It puts him on the defense, never wanting you to go anywhere without at least one ape to protect you. It'll lead to arguments you Will not win.

Sorry if you just want to go to the river to wash up, either he's coming with you or Rocket is. Too Bad so sad.

Other apes come to you to ask you to ask Caesar if they can do something they Know he would never approve of, it's because they know out of everyone here, with the exception of a handful of apes, you're his soft spot.

Many apes were concerned with you joining them, but you've earned your spot among them, you are loved and trusted.

Koba would be rolling in his grave, seeing you work alongside Caesar, being a genuinely good person and a loving companion.

[Proximus]

It's canon that Proximus has a fondness for humans, but it's so severely different than Caesars, no matter how much he claims to be like the former.

You're more so of a toy to him, similar to Trevathan, but while he reads the Bonobo literature and teaches him things, you're like a pet. You keep him entertained.

This isn't to say he treats you cruelly though, all things considered, you're taken care of fairly well with a lot of luxuries the other apes under his rule are not privy to.

You wear a collar, which is demeaning, but it is better than having a chain connected to it, so everyone knows you're his.

Poor Sylva being forced to be your guard when you ask if you can go walking alone the beach, he doesn't want to do it but he WILL (he becomes fond of you begrudgingly, partially out of respect for Proximus but you're too nice for your own good, asking him how his day is going and whatnot. He hates you.)

Proximus calls you pet, btw. He knows your name but will only use it when it's the two of you or for special occasions.

Brings you out into the colony to show you all the progress being made, he's looking for his ego to be inflated, go ahead and do it so you two can head back inside and get out of the heat.

He likes to show you off while he does, telling his subjects that you're special, like Nova was to Caesar. He's delusional and Caesar would be fucking pissed to be compared.

He doesn't need you to do much honestly, you're meant to sit there and look pretty and make him feel important. Maybe help him out with grooming and taking care of his belongings. He trusts you to mend and keep his crown and his attire in good condition.

Likes to play with your hair, the texture is different than apes, and he finds it soothing to run his fingers through it or just pet your head. Once again, it is very demeaning, but it could be worse.

Like Caesar, he is possessive and will try and limit your contact with the others in fear you'll like them more. Your little trio consists of you, himself, and Sylva. He lets you interact with Trevathan, but it's not an everyday thing.

He does care for you more than he'd ever admit, but it doesn't mean he'll particularly change for your sake, at least not intentionally. He's kinda insane and kinda a piece of shit, and you're aware of this.

Makes you sit next to him when he hosts dinners, making sure to pat your head and coo at you (When Noa first sees you at the table getting treated like how he'd treat an eagle, he gives you one of his signature side eyes bc lmao what the fuck is going on)

When it comes down to the ending of the movie when he dies, you're at a loss, Mae frankly thinks you're too far gone, and Noa is not willing to take a chance to offer you a home.

All you have really left to do is to go back to the colony and what's left of it, back to the remaining apes and humans still left unattended. Telling them they're free to go.

At some point among the years of being the closest to Proximus, you do care for him, and it's hard to think he's gone, he offered you a sense of security and belonging, but it's gone now.

I'd honestly choose Red Hair as the best just because they seem the most lax about everything. They let you do your own thing and won't bother you (much), and the only rule in place is that you're not allowed off the ship unless you're accompanied by shanks or someone he trusts to protect youThe middle ground are the Whitebeard pirates. They're definitely pushy and have more rules for you, but I do think the majority of the crew is okay. Sadly I gave up on One Piece before the Whitebeard pirates were introduced so I'm not sure what else to say 😔

The worst in my opinion are the Straw Hats. I'm not sure whether you'll hate my opinion on this but hear me out 😭😭 Every single member is chaotic in their own way. I'd rank Luffy, Nami, and Usopp as the worst because they're more energetic, more demanding, more expectant, and after a while they're kind of exhausting to be around. Sanji and Chopper are middle ground since they're more on the calmer side, but they have their flaws. The best ones would have to be Robin and Zoro as they're not completely crazy for you and wouldn't meddle in your business, but they always keep watch of you

I know there are more members but again, I wasn't introduced to them so I won't write how they're like since I don't want to mischaracterize

But wow.... I honestly didn't expect to write this much for an ask. While I do enjoy writing romantic stuff, I think I'll always have a preference toward platonic relationships. Especially when it comes to yandere content since platonic yanderes are what really dragged me into the whole yandere fandom in the first place. As for your question about ranking those crews from best to worst to have, I do agree with the Straw Hats being the worst, but I would switch The Whitebeard's and Red Hair's around.

I would put the Whitebeard's as the least bad because (and I'm assuming you don't care about spoilers since you dropped the series) if you really want out, well, almost all of them die. Eventually it'll just be you and Marco, and he's pretty lax most of the time; though he would definitely be a little clingy after losing basically his entire family. Depending on how attached you would get, this could also make it the worst, but your wording implies that this involves a very unwilling darling. Even when they're all alive, at worst you'll just feel like you're stuck with a very doting helicopter family. Yeah there are rules, but none of them feel particularly harmful since they generally pertain to your health and safety.

The Red Hair's are in the middle because that crew would give me a damn headache! The ship smells like a frat house in the absolute worse way, everyone is drinking and trying to drag you into their partying, and everyone is so over-powered that you have no chance of escaping for any meaningful length of time. The only thing keeping them from being worse is the fact that they're already so established with Shanks being an Emperor that they don't really get up to that much.

Unlike the worst crew, the Straw Hat's, who are toppling governments and fighting fucking everyone every damn week. Not only are they an inescapable crew, but they also drag you into their bullshit constantly, so you can't even relax. Then there are all of the wild personalities on board. Robin, Zoro, and Jimbei are all consistently pretty chill. Brook, Franky, and Chopper can be handfuls but not consistently. Luffy, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji are all velcro-yanderes that won't leave you the hell alone.

the closer we get to the next season of mythic quest the more I think about it. the thing that calls to me specifically is the backstory ep, every seasons got one, they all seems to try and have a theme/meaning, there almost always the best ep in a season... so the main question on my minds been what's this seasons backstory ep gonna be?

my heart says brad backstory, how I yearn for it. though just saying I hope its a (insert character) ep" is only half the story, the backstory eps are supposed to have a meaning to have something to do with the rest of the season or at least the eps after. so the real question is what should this season do and how would that tie into a brad backstory ep?

In my opinion the answer is to do something with Dana and Rachel for fucks sake. i mean i love em as much as the next guy but they barely got half a personality between them. Dana's a vaguely girlboss shaped cardboard cut out and Rachel's just what the writers think a leftist is. so how do you take theses two extremely nothing characters and give them meaning? well when it comes I think the moves is clear, corruption.

At the end of season 3 Dana is set up as a parallel to Ian, having created her own company and given herself his exact position + Danas few moments in season 3 do seem to set up that she and Ian are very similar people. As well Rachel is set up as a parallel to brad with her getting his job and all that. so season 4s gotta have them become more like their respective parallels, Dana starts being obnoxious and self centered, Rachel finds herself getting more and more greedy.

then you get to the backstory ep, and we see just how brad got here. hoe he ended up as the person he is, as well showing us that he and Rachel aren't to different after all. maybe jo to, I think that would be neat.

I think the most painful thing they could do is show us that as a child brad had an interest in writing. to parallel Rachel and aborted character trait of being a writer, turn what the writers gave up on into a message about giving up on your dreams.

looking at it from this angle, the theme of corruption is obvious, how a person gives up on there morals and dreams for success under capitalism. to an extent that what all the shows about isn't it? ties in real nice at the least. I mean the first backstory ep is about a couple who make their dream game only for the game, their relationship and to a certain extent themselves to be destroyed in the pursuit of success. C.W's is about a man with a dream who's just not that good at it, who sees the future of his industry and ends up a failure. his only success in life, the only reason he has any respect on his name, is stolen from a better writer. I haven't rewatched the third season in a bit but i could probably find a way to tie the third one in when I rewatch it.

that's all to say, if I was writing the season that's what id do. who knows what it'll actually be, might be better then my idea, might be worse. wont know until it comes out, fun to think about though.

after a horribly stressful day, you and modern!daemon try to comfort each other.

daemon targaryen is on the edge.

no, literally, he feels like he'll fucking explode. it's a terrible day, disastrous, awful. he wishes for it to end, even prays to the gods inside his head.

he watches the clock for minutes, has 5 more cigarette breaks, and drinks 2 cups of coffee in the same hour. even though he doesn't hate his job normally, today everything gets on his nerves. at least it's friday, he thinks. two days of rest and he'll be fine. hopefully.

when it's time to leave, finally, his phone rings and he sees your name on the screen. he smiles for the first time today since he left you in bed, as he was leaving earlier. he answers your call, impatient to hear your sweet voice.

"sweetheart?"

"oh my god, can you tell me what the hell is wrong with today? are we cursed or something?" you sound tired and frustrated.

"well, if it'll make you feel better my day was horrible too. i think we might actually be cursed."

he hears you exhale. "i'm going home now. did you leave the office?"

"yes, i'm on my way. see you at home, baby."

you say the same words and hang up. daemon drives fastly, silently begging for some relief. he is too tense, he just wants to find some comfort.

he opens the door with his key, and finds you lying on the couch with your clothes on. your skirt is wrinkly and your heels are thrown out on the floor.

"sweetheart?"

you lift your head as you hear his voice. you leave the couch to jump into his open arms, wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his waist. he holds you there for a few moments, inhales the scent of your hair and feels the comfort it brings him. you press a kiss on his neck beneath his collar.

"i missed you." your voice sounds muffled as you talk.

"i missed you too. terrible day, right?"

"mm-hmm. i just wanted it to be over."

he nods, carries you to the bedroom. "let's have a long bath, shall we?"

you nod happily. you love long baths with daemon, he knows how much you love them and he has grown to love them too. you spend hours covered in bubbles as you sit between his legs, and daemon thinks you look adorable. too adorable for his pathetic heart.

"you take off your clothes, i'll prepare the bath." he says.

"and bubbles, daemon."

"of course bubbles, sweetheart."

you take off your clothes and put your hair in a messy bun on top of your head. he comes out of the bathroom, opening the buttons of his shirt, and you can hear the sound of water filling the tub. you walk to him, help him take his shirt off and press a kiss on his chest. he takes off the rest of his clothes and carries you to the bathroom as you laugh.

the tub looks perfect. it smells perfect, too. you think you both deserved this after a long and dreadful day. daemon gets in the tub, his muscles welcome the warm water and soft bubbles. he opens his arms for you and you adjust yourself comfortably between his thighs.

"this is amazing." you whisper.

"yes, fucking amazing."

you put your head on his chest as he strokes the skin of your waist. your fingers play with bubbles and draw foamy shapes on his chest. you hum softly when he brings his fingers on the spot between your neck and shoulders, the muscles there are tense and hardened. you can't help but softly moan when he presses his fingers harder.

"you like that, baby?" he asks. you nod, look at him with big eyes.

"come on, turn around then." he says.

you turn around and your back is against his chest now. he leans and kisses the back of your neck. he kisses your shoulders, and starts massaging the tender muscles there.

"you should relax for me."

you inhale and exhale a deep breath. the water is perfect, bubbles are perfect, and daemon's hands are perfect. his big hands easily cover your shoulders, he applies just the right amount of pressure on your achy muscles. your eyes close after a few minutes, melting to him, and smiling.

"i'm gonna fall asleep on you if you keep doing that."

he chuckles. "it's fine by me. wouldn't be the first time, anyway."

you try to turn around to see his face and he helps you. you see him smiling softly. you smile back, the tension long gone.

"do you want me to return the favor?"

he leans closer to you, cups your cheeks and kisses your lips. he kisses you as you sat there all naked and softened for him, sitting between his thighs covered in bubbles.

"you're too sweet for me." he says.

you bring your hands to his neck as you return the kiss. daemon keeps you there until the water gets cold. he helps you get out of the tub and wraps a soft towel around you. you go to the bedroom to wear your clothes and he does the same.

"so, which one of your shirts should i wear tonight?"

he smiles. "we have to choose a different shirt for each night?"

you nod, as if this is a deadly serious thing to decide. "yes, and i should also choose a pair of knee socks. it's all about the colors, daemon."

when the coffees are finished, he pulls you closer, you sit on his lap, and wrap your arms around his neck. you caress his beautiful hair, kiss the spot beneath his ear and he wraps the fluffy blanket around your shoulders.

he holds you there like a baby, rubs your neck and your back. your eyes get heavy with the warmth and the feeling of safety in his arms.

"sleepy, baby?"

you nod. "can we go to bed?"

he turns off the television, the movie you chose for some background noise long forgotten. "of course we can."

he carries you to the bedroom and you find enough strength to go to the bathroom to brush your teeth. he does the same and you both return to bed finally. he holds the covers open for you and takes you in his arms. you kiss his neck before whispering good night and closing your eyes.

he forgets all about his stressful day then. you give him the hope of waking up to a new day, new possibilities. he would've think that is a little bit fucked up before but now he smiles and accepts it. he just holds you closer, kisses your hair, and rubs your back until he is sure you're comfortably sleeping.

So, since you're watching Netflix Voltron, I think it's important you know a few things that went on behind the scenes of this show. It'll make the mess the plot became more apparent.

They were originally going to kill Shiro off, like in one of the two original anime which were spliced together to make Voltron, Beast King GoLion (that show is actually free on YouTube, along with the other half of OG Voltron, Dairugger XV), which would have motivated Keith to be leader, but Dreamworks and World Event Productions saw he was too popular to kill. Plus, Steven Yeun, Keith's VA, was busy with The Walking Dead as well, so that explains his absence sometimes.

And the final two seasons would've been vastly different, if it weren't for one of the head writers and showrunners leaving because of Dreamworks' and WEP's bs meddling.

And you'll soon learn what people mean when they say "Allura Deserved Better", because she was one of the few modern animated female characters who actually felt like a character, and she was done dirty.

Though, on another note, I hope you're at least enjoying some things about the show.

Yeah, figured it'd be stuff like that. There's a weird tendency there to repeat plot points--Keith becoming the leader, quitting being the leader, going back to being the leader--Shiro being captured and escaping suspiciously, then being captured again and escaping suspiciously again--which feels like the story go off-course, so they had to awkwardly repeat the set-ups so they could get to the pay-offs they wanted to do in the first place.

All in all, it reminds me of later seasons of Young Justice, where there's just all this focus on a myth arc that grows and grows and grows until it's taken over the entire narrative and crowded out most everything else. I suppose it's admirable that they're trying to keep an eye on the plot instead of totally pandering to the fandom with slice-of-life and shipping, but at a certain point, it feels like a sign of insecurity to keep the same storyline going and going. Like they're too scared to close off the plotline and take a chance on a new one.

I'm just saying, I would not've guessed they'd get to Season 8 and still be talking Zarkon Family Drama.

i see this album being a follow-up to right thoughts right words right action in a sense. a lot of the songs here started appearing, at least somewhat, in 2016. i think there were plans for a rtrwra follow up that was more 'on-theme' but it got scrapped due to ffs, and then alex got obsessed with disco for a little bit and hired a synthpop twink on guitar. now that we're back to somewhat normal, i think it's time for the post-rtrwra songs to shine. i also see a lot of the ychismb+2005 b-sides motifs happening here already (swallow smile, wine in the afternoon, l. wells, jeremy fraser, ghost in a ditch, walk away, fade together). alex appears to be the primary lyric writer now too so that influences everything you are about to read

Wren's Very Long BRC Relationship Headcanons Post

Emphasis on very long, there's a lot of them listed here. Not just romantic ships, but also friendships, rivalries, and even exes!! Some of these I only did a little blurb about, others have a paragraph in their own right, lol

Like I mentioned last night, I want to write at least some oneshots of some of these (especially some of the romantic ships, you can probably guess which ones 😈), but I don't know where to start since I have given myself Too Many Options. :u

So if there's a particular one you want me to ramble about, feel free to send in an ask! If anything I encourage it, since I'm hoping it'll help push me in the right direction to eventually write some fics about these. One relationship per ask please, and note that some of these I'll have a lot more to say than others!

Friendships:

In general, I think in each crew, the crew members get along with each other well enough to call each other friends. Probably the only exception is Veronica of FUTURISM, given I made her the one teammate that the rest don’t like. :u

Bel, Mesh, and Shine are the kind of people who try to be friends with everyone, or at the very least make a conscious effort to get along with everyone in the Bomb Rush Crew!

Mesh & Cueball in particular as friends is one I wanna point out here! Cueball starts out being suspicious of Mesh, because he doesn’t realize Mesh is just being nice. Poor Cueball has no friends outside of DOT EXE, and even then he didn’t get along with them better until after Eight Ball’s death and Cueball leaving that crew to join BRC. Him and Mesh eventually become pretty good friends, and that leads to him getting along better with the rest of the crew too!

Eventually Mesh and Cueball also become friends with Sai too! Sai being my Devil Theory OC who joins BRC. He was kinda in the same situation as Cueball, being suspicious about people being nice to him, but they win him over eventually. :P

Rise, Shine, and Rave in particular end up being a trio of besties~

And the “Core 5” members (Tryce, Bel, Felix, Vinyl, and Solace) are besties too!!

I’ve mentioned this in the past, but all 4 Devil Theory members were friends for a long time before forming their crew, and still remain best friends!

Rivals:

Daishō vs. Tryce, mostly the former trolling the latter, such as specifically putting graffiti over Tryce’s own pieces. Tryce tries to not let it get to him, emphasis on “tries”.

Sai vs. Red, as a friendly rivalry where they fight each other in sparring matches. Note, Red is a separate person from Felix in my headcanons after the events of the game (I’ve changed how Red exists in my headcanons since the last time I talked about him; long story short they find a writer’s cyberhead mind that’s in need of a new cyberhead, and Felix had been rebuilding the Red cyberhead for himself as a replacement for his old mask, so…)

Rietveld vs. Nunchaku (Nunchaku being another Devil Theory OC, she’s a trans butch lesbian!), this one is kind of a one-sided thing on Rietveld’s part. Basically at one point Bel has a crush on Nunchaku, while Rietveld had a crush on Bel, and thus thinking a rivalry is gonna happen. But thankfully for Rietveld, Nunchaku turns Bel down (Nunchaku is more into other butches). The “rivalry” basically fizzles out after that, especially once Rietveld was finally able to ask Bel out. :P

Okay, so now getting into the romantic ships, I'm breaking them up into 3 sections, one with just canon characters, the second with canon characters paired with one of my OCs, and the last being canon x OC with the OCs in this case being ones I haven't even drawn yet, lol...

Romantic (Only canon characters):

DJ Cybr x Felix; Cylix, Cyber Kings, whatever you want to call it! I like to think both of them keep shuffling their feet on it for a long while, with flirting from DJ going over Felix’s head sometimes, and one being convinced the other just wants to be friends, etc.

Bel x Rietveld (inspired by some of @supraandhergoreshia's doodles of them, like this, and this, and also this one, and this really cute one ;u; )

Shine x Coil (inspired by some of @monkiinart's art of them together, such as this, and this one, also especially this one ahh)

Red x Cress, I’m not even sure how much I can say about this character without spoiling for future potential fics. Red meets them under very unusual circumstances, I’ll say that much.

Lyra (Eclipse autumn palette) x Cherry, an OC who works in New Amsterdam as a tattoo artist. I actually have a few ideas for “new NPCs” for the game to add additional features and minigames, Cherry being one of them.

Michael (Franks autumn palette) x Monica, OC who runs this sort of skate/stunt park for writers in Millennium Mall. She’s also one of the “new NPCs” I mentioned before. Her skate park would basically be a minigame area for getting high scores in exchange for stuff you can display at the hideout. Also-also she’s Tryce’s aunt :P

Exes:

Rise and Faux, absolute disaster of a relationship, not even in a fun way. My version of Faux makes for a horrendously selfish boyfriend, lmao. After the relationship finally ended, Faux referred to Rise as ���an egotistical uppity bitch”, and Rise still refers to Faux as “the most insufferable white boy I’ve ever had the displeasure of dating”.

Sai and Daishō, they dated back in secondary school (i.e. roughly high school), because they figured they love each other platonically as best friends, so why not romantically? Unfortunately, things get awkward real fast for two reasons: First, Daishō realizes he’s definitely straight (Sai in comparison is bi), and second, despite the previous point Daishō actually forced himself to keep up the relationship because he really didn’t want to break Sai’s heart. The truth came out eventually and they managed to talk things out and go back to being best friends. Which is probably a miracle that they were able to stay as friends at all, considered what happened and how awkward things got for them for a while there.

Tryce and Bel, the idea being that they tried dating when they were younger (they were not friends previously, so this was something arranged via a dating app or something), but then Bel realizes she’s a lesbian and they have an amicable break up and stay friends afterwards. They only went on one or two dates at that point, and found they got along but just not in a romantic way (and also, again, Bel is a lesbian). So then, this is a far less awkward version of Sai and Daishō’s temporary romantic relationship. :u

Other:

Twoson (2-ball DOT EXE) + Fourside (4-ball DOT EXE) will flip flop on what exactly their relationship is, and give different answers every time either of them is asked. Best friends, friends with benefits, romantic, queerplatonic, etc. They definitely have a deep relationship and care about each other, with Fourside in particular being very protective of Twoson if things get ugly. Still, neither of them likes putting any particular label/definition to what’s going on between them.

Do you respond to comments?

Always, even if it takes me months. I actually just caught up again (there's still a bunch to go, but right now the oldest is 17 days ago instead of 250 days...). It's just a rule I have for myself, and even with the backlog I've kept it up so far, so I'm not going to stop doing it now.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm not a big fan of angsty endings, I generally try to at least make it a hopeful ending or, in the case of the college au, use an epilogue to fix things.

But I guess sunny skies & summer highs qualifies as an angsty ending simply because of the cliffhanger (and yes, there is still going to be a continuation, I'm working on it 🙈).

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Choosing one out of 160 is really hard, but I think tell me, will you stay or will you run away is definitely one that deserves a mention here, because it already has a happy ending and then the epilogue just makes it even better 🥰

Do you get hate on fics?

Not commented on the fic itself, no. I've had some people talk shit about my fics on twitter, though, and not even vaguely but calling me by (user)name.

Do you write smut?

Is grass green? Yeah, I write smut 🤭 Thanks to two times kinktober, I have 95 explicit fics, by far the most used rating for my fics.

Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Nope. It may be a nice challenge for the future? Not sure who I'd do it with.

Gotta go for Buddie on that one, lol. Especially if you look at my writing history. But I often tend to hyperfixate on one ship at a time (current reading obsession is McDanno)

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Buck's POV of if love is art then you might be my masterpiece. I really want to, but at this point it's been two years since the original so I don't know if it'd be worth it either. (I know not everyone was happy about how I ended it, but I doubt any of them are still waiting for more). Writing a different POV of the same fic takes an amount of planning that my brain just really struggles with. And I could pick up where the last chapter (before the epilogue) picks up, but I think that way there would be some crucial information about Buck missing.

What are your writing strengths?

I've been told quite a lot of times that I am good at keeping characters, well, in character, even when putting them in partial or complete AU's. Of course, what is in character or not is subjective, but I do always challenge myself to work as much of the canon backstory and personality into who they are in the AU as possible.

And I like to think I'm pretty good at writing smut.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm terrible at pacing, which multiple of my long fics prove. It'll be drawn out first and then suddenly rushing. And being ESL I do struggle with things like sentence structure and grammar pretty regularly still.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

As long as there is some kind of translation provided somewhere I like it, but I'm not so quick to use it myself. Not beyond a few Spanish words here and there (generally pet names between Eddie and his family we've seen on the show or the occasional curse word when I feel it fits better than an English one, but I usually need to employ help from Spanish-speaking friends for those).

First fandom you wrote in?

Shameless! I binged that right before I started 9-1-1 and combined with the creative writing minor I was doing, it was actually what got me back into writing in general and what made me write my first ever fic.

Favorite fic you've written?

My in your arms i feel safe-series (which I always lovingly refer to as the ace kink fic) is definitely one of my favorites simply because of how personal it is to me and for the reason behind me writing it in the first place.

Other strong contenders are i would've loved you forever (it's never enough but i wanted it to be) and i'm begging you, come home to me (Teen Wolf, Thiam)

do i respond to comments?: i do! i went through a moment within the last year, though, where i got scared of "artificially inflating" how appealing my fics look because i always respond to comments but i try not to let that happen anymore. i AT LEAST owe someone a thank you for taking time to tell me they liked something about my writing, and i love telling them how it made me feel to read their comment. i'm not always the fastest to respond anymore, but i love responding to comments!

what has the most angst ridden ending?: that would require i finish things. no, um... a broken heart looks good on you is, i think, my angstiest ending. i love angst but a lot of my works are a) unfinished and b) typically at least ambiguous? but i think that's probably the angstiest ending (especially if you don't read the sequel).

what has the happiest ending?: i say i love angst and i swear i do, but looking over all my stories i think i actually have a fair amount of happy endings. Love Like Magic is very unambiguously happy in the most traditional sense. Snake Bites has a fluffy little ending too, but it doesn't hit the kind of lows i typically write so idk if it hits as "happy" as other happy endings. and then my personal favorite happy end is let's make it worth it. maybe not the happiest, but for me it's the best happy end i've written.

have i received hate?: i got one kinda nasty comment on my big bang fic but i think it might have been a bot. and my friends came to my defense so fast 🥰

do i write smut? if so, what kind?: yup! i'm not sure exactly what "kind" means here, but i really enjoy writing smut! i think it can do so much character work. i remember being absolutely terrified to publish my first smut, but it's gotten easier. i've been wanting to write some more lately, but i've been stuck on what to write.

do i write crossovers?: not really. not since my middle school self wrote a sailor moon/atla fic for funsies. i used to when i was young, before i even really knew i was writing fanfic, but i'd say no, i don't write crossovers.

have i ever had a fic translated?: nope! that would be so cool though. i'm a translation fanatic, but i can't supply anything useful to that community, i only have rusty skills in dead languages.

a WIP i’ll never finish?: HA. god. most of my works? but again, that's because they're just for me. all of my smosh fics have planned endings, so if you're curious those WILL be finished, but i'd say the two naruto fics and the buffy fic are pretty much in the "never finish" category. they may get a chapter here or there, but i think they're probably never going to get a proper ending.

writing strengths: i've been staring at this for, like... half an hour. i had to ask lilac for some help (thank you lilac!!) and she said my prose, my humor, and my world building. i'll take that!

writing weaknesses: i'm absolutely terrible at endings. i don't think i'm good at fluff. i have a surprisingly hard time generating ideas on my own (it's much easier for me to talk things through but i rarely do). i rely a lot on metaphor. i can get pretty lazy/loose with grammar. it takes me forever to write. oh, and i can't write a physical description to save my life. are all of my characters wearing clown clothes? well, i never tell you what they are wearing so maybe.

do i like foreign language dialogue?: i love languages, so it's very cool to see it from people who know what they're doing!

favorite fic i’ve written: this is such a hard question! do i truly like anything i've written? but seriously, i'm coming for you again is something i'm very proud of, as is the one-two punch of a broken heart looks good on you/let's make it worth it, and then very selfishly i've always held bury my heart underneath these trees very dear. it's not my most popular, and maybe not even all that good but it has a special place in my heart.

I meant that if you give your dps a summon (through dh's buff) and then use sunday on the dps, so the dps+summon gets sunday's full buff :) I do believe that'd be too convenient so there's no way the devs would let that work, but hey, hoping is free

Aw, that sucks :( I have the opposite problem: my luck is FAR better in hsr (always high pity, but always winning. Unlike genshin where I alwaysssss lose and then have to go high again lmao) so unlike genshin I often find myself with wishes to spare.

Ditto on hating the stellaron hunters and luofu lmaoo, though unfortunately. the latter has grown on me. like fungus (thanks to the fic writers who actually write the luofu characters competently)

I don't see that happening. It would be too overpowered. I expect the owner of the summon will still be considered DH3 and it'll just have a setup where it "follows" a specific character, maybe something like Hunt March's shifu thing, so you will need to use Sunday on DH3 to affect the summon.

Hoping is free up until you have to pay the disappointment tax, so I'm going to try and remain pessimistic. 😑

(You know what I do believe tho? Archer as the first Hunt until with multi-target somewhere in his kit. He's already the speacialest boy who gets to be Quantum.)

My pull history on my HSR main has been... theoretically mixed, but it's always worst exactly when I care about it most. I won 50/50 twice on Aveturine at 42 and 76 (great start!), lost on Sunday for 81+77 (ouch), but managed to win on Jing Yuan at 78. Overall, that was all fine, but it was after this that the problems started.

I had 30 pulls pity after all that and did a yolo 10 pull on THerta's banner... so I got her at 40 pulls. I've greatly enjoyed playing her, and her team is my favorite one, I love it and use it for everything, buuuuut it kind of unbalanced the entire account and it was a very bad move on the whole. But come on, it was a single ten pull! I didn't even have a chance to think better of it! 😭

Then I got Robin at 80+6... and it has been entirely downhill from there. 79+78 for Mydei. 79+74 for Jiaoqiu. (Random Jiaoqiu E1 at 4 pulls? Who asked?? This was not a W) 80+74 for Ratio...

And I've never had an early on the standard banner the entire time. 78 for Welt, 77 for his LC, 75 for another Bailu... currently at 65 but not expecting anything for another ten pulls.

Though tbh a good bit of the issue is the approach I had taken with this account.

In general, I've found that I prefer to put limitations on what I pull and make it a pseudo "challenge account" because otherwise I get tempted by like half the characters (see: THerta) and it just doesn't go well. It's worked well for my Genshin alt where I only pull tall male characters. It's been a slow but steady journey to collecting all of them, and pretty much all of them have served some purpose at some point in the account.

(Incidentally, "male only" is just the simplest limitation to work with because male characters are always a minority and their designs tend to be more tolerable on the whole. I don't actually mind pulling female characters lol)

So I tried to take that approach with HSR when I started it too. But the thing is........... I didn't have any experience with HSR. I didn't really know how their team building works or even who is in the roster. So I didn't realize these key points:

1) There are more men in HSR when I started than there were in Genshin when I started that alt (which was just before Baizhu's release). This makes trying to collect all of them, even theoretically, much more challenging and stressful.

2) Because of the powercreep and differences in the combat systems, HSR teambuilding is way more strict. In Genshin (at least up through Natlan, who even knows going forward), you could reasonably do everything up to Abyss 12 with a team of sub-dps or leaning on reactions. I've cleared Abyss 11 and below with like... Anemo Traveler, Kaeya and Diluc as a team. I do mean it when I say that I've made use of basically every character I pulled at least at some point, even if Kaveh's entire job is holding 4 piece Exile and Fav Greatsword. That energy management was also invaluable!

But in HSR, what are you going to use Welt for? Sampo? Dan Heng 1? Gepard? On top of that, the supports are extremely specific, and you're basically griefing yourself if you don't have a proper team. Even if I pull Boothill, who is going to provide Break/Superbreak support for him? (I'm not using Harmony TB for reasons.) Who is going to help Dan Heng 2: The Cooler Dan Heng with his skill point management? Hell, who is going to be a second Harmony in hypercarry teams? Hell, who is going to be the Harmony on the other side??

3) Because of powercreep, a lot of the older characters are basically useless unless you have great gear and the cracked (female) supports or you pull them four times over (and have the cracked female supports).

All of this is made worse by the gearing system, which really is somehow even more intolerable than artifacts or echoes. I blame the LCs, but it's just been such a miserable experience all around.

(Not helping is that HSR is a turnbased game with much less to do outside of combat. At least in Wuwa and Genshin, you can explore with basically whatever on the team and keep yourself both entertained and earning currency that way. HSR is just... tedious story, annoying combat while running back and forth for fake puzzles, and miserably hard endgame combat.)

Anyway, what I've learned from comparing and contrasting my Wuwa and HSR accounts is this:

Build the damn free characters first, use them on the low level content and only decide on pulling limitations once you have a feel for how the game works.

Would have been nice to realize this earlier, but live and learn, I guess.

Hi there! This is an ask related to the EMT question, but I'm not totally sure how it'll work in my writing so this is also me thinking it through :D writers helping writers

Say a young man (25~), relatively healthy and in good shape, got into a car accident. The car veered off the road (not intentionally, I imagine the roads are unsafe) and crashed into a tree. When you arrive, the windshield is broken, though nothing broke off and impaled the man in question. He's unconscious, his head is bleeding (not majorly, seems to be a minor cut from the glass), and when you find him, he's delirious and will not stay awake too long.

Plus, add on, if there was someone else in the car who got out practically unscathed (say, tree not on their side of the car, they were extremely lucky, etc), would you ask that person for help with anything or would you tell them (for lack of a better term) to just stay out of the way?

(psst also if you know what kind of injuries are likely in that described situation, I'd love to know for more realism purposes! I think this is so cool!)

Holy cow there's so much I could get into with car accidents, but I'll limit myself like I've been doing so far, lol.

I'll get the bit with the uninjured person first, since it won't be as long. We'd actually do an assessment and take them to the hospital, too! They were in a car accident that really hurt a patient, so they experienced the same force as them and could possibly have injuries that have yet to present themselves. Plus, with a crash that has so much force that one patient has been significantly injured, they would probably at least have some whiplash and a minor concussion as well as a seatbelt abrasion. WE WOULD NEVER EVER EVER ASK THEM TO HELP IN ANY WAY!!! If another person who is not trained is helping in any way, it is to give us information on another patient or to get an AED or something. It is very rare to ask them for help, since they are not trained and we could get in serious trouble for asking a patient to help with anything. I'll try to make the car crash stuff brief and easily digestible. I'm pretty sure I've talked about this a little, but maybe not. I would look at an ask I answered about the order in which EMTs do their assessments, though! It can be helpful for fleshing things out a bit. When we get called to crashes, we know that three different collisions possibly occurred. The collision of a car against another car or object, the collision of the passenger against the interior of the car, and the collision of the passenger's internal organs against the solid structure of the body. With the force it seems this crash had, this can be a good guideline of the injuries he could experience. Some of the injuries he would most likely experience are a coup-contrecoup brain injury (the head hits a windshield or experiences forward whiplash and the brain continues to move within the skull and hits the skull causing brain damage to the front of the brain, then the car stops and the head is thrown back into the headrest and the brain follows and hits the skull and causes damage to the back of the brain), the lower extremities hitting the dashboard and transferring force into the pelvis creating fractured and joint separations there, and the abdomen or chest hitting the steering wheel which can create things from just a chest contusion (contusion is a fancy word for bruise) to a pneumothorax. When treating we would follow the patient assessment. We'd put the patient in a c-collar and stabilize his spine, treat any major bleeding, maintain his airway, and if there isn't anything immediately life threatening we'd splint any fractures before moving the patient and transporting. There's probably so, so much more I could talk about, so if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask! Hope this helps.

Your words means a lot to me! ♥ I had inspiration issues for half of my life. I was around fifteen when I wrote my last paragraph, and after that I didn't for other fifteen years. Honest to God, Good Omens and its community saved me in more than a way when I was at my lowest - helped me both with coming back at writing, and starting drawing for myself. I startend enjoying things again. And I needed that. So, since finding inspiration again was so meaningful to me, being able to inspire others is like I achieved something so big I can't really find words to express it properly. It makes me feel kinda... Oh, dunno. I guess we can go with: blessed. Finding inspiration was (and is) an healing process to me. And I hope it'll be the same to others. So if it came to me, I can only be SO glad to know!! So thank you so much for sharing this!! ♥

Let me tell you this: I am my biggest saboteur myself. So I do understand what you say, and I can guess what you feel right now. My suggestion is something practical. Go in front of the mirror, tell yourself what you want to do and look straight into your eyes. Then, say: "I will do it. And you will NOT stop me." Then say the same to all the people who might go against you. Nobody, not even yourself, should have the power to stop you from doing the things you love. It may be hard at the very start, troublesome meanwhile, but I can assure you nothing's better than being able to live your dreams. All I can do for you now is assuring you I am on your side! And I am sure you can do whatever makes you feel happy.

Last, but not least (dear Lord I wrote so much and I'm not done yet.......), your last question. Funny thing to answer that one, actually. 'cause I never practiced. I never studied a way to arrange phrases and words, actually right now I'm always a bit overwhelmed anytime I sit myself in front of the screen and open my file to start writing. I'll tell you, I'm the messiest people in the entire universe. I had all the plot already written back in november, but yet my characters slip off my hands and do whatever they want. Does it makes any sense to you? I have to costantly re-arrange my plot to make sure everything have some kind of logic. The rest come from my own mind. Sugar, specifically, means a lot to me under a lot of different aspects. Both characters holds part of myself, my own traumas, my own experiences, my own mazes and struggles. I think maybe sometimes things went when I didn't want them to go 'cause my mind played dirty on me and I was unable to stop it. But I don't complain. So I'm afraid I don't have a real answer but this one: I just put myself into every single word I write. I play all the scenes in my mind just like watching movies. I feel what my characters does and, I will not deny this, oftern I cry while doing that too. I'm a bit too much emphatic, perhaps?

Gonna admit, writing Sugar is exactly like going to therapy to me. Goes just along with that, it helps me process myself, my own emotions, helps me validate anything bad I've ever felt.

Blue Eye Samurai ending spoilers>>

I stayed up way too late finishing off the show and I'm glad I did! I've never seen a better written animated series. It's kind of a unicorn. Creator-driven series written for adults that isn't some poor hireling desperately trying to express something meaningful through a corporate IP. No shade on all the earnest animated video game and capeshit out there, but- well yeah. Maybe a little shade. Fanfiction is always easier.

BES also wasn't just an occasionally edgy YA show like ATLA or Korra (or the Spiderverse stuff, sorry) or style over substance like the old MTV series. The creators had an idea, and they sweat blood to make it happen. Kudos to Netflix for letting them do their thing.

That ending though, man. I get wanting to subvert what everyone was expecting. And I trust these writers to know what they're doing. When someone gives you eight hours of badassery, you give them the benefit of the doubt. But it's bad feels not getting the catharsis of the Big Bad's demise at the end. The show does a fantastic job of making you despise Fowler. He's not a grey villain, he's friggin' Satan. And you don't get to see him drown in his own blood after all that struggle! It's rough!

What's even a little more alarming though is the reality of Mizu leaving all the cool characters and hanging relationships she's spent the whole series building up. And why? To go to London?? That's weird! London is gross! I don't like the idea of leaving the rest of the cast behind! I hope the writers have some kind of awesome idea for English shenanigans to make up for losing them. Will the story bounce back to Japan to see what Akemi's doing and how Taigen deals with the rejection? I care at least as much about them as about Mizu. Ringo's probably safe making kitchen knives tho.

Leaving so much unresolved is tough stuff. It'll be years before a second season comes out - and maybe it never will. If that happens, I'm going to be pissed that they structured their story this way. But if it does happen and it's worth the wait, then I admire the bravery.

I just got three criticisms that caught my eye: The Fowler fight was way too similar to the giant fight. What I would have loved to see was Fowler with an arsenal of hidden guns and him and Mizu fighting each other through the burning building as she slowly whittled down his fire power before ultimately savaging him. Any time you pit Mizu hand to hand against anyone with such obviously massive physical strength, you're shattering the illusion. Even if she was a dude, she's a dex build. I'm still not clear on what she bit off Fowler's face to escape that hold. It wasn't his nose or tongue? Clarity there would have been nice and felt good.

Seki's death was flagged so hard it almost ruined the impact for me because then I was just looking for it to happen. RIP Seki, he was such a cool character.

The licensed tracks were always distracting. No anachronistic music in a period piece!

okay, so. escape the night : the movie ... watched the video a little while ago and it's only fitting i share my brutally honest thoughts! they'll be put under a read more.

first thing's first, i did kinda see this coming. considering how tight lipped joey's been about calling it s5, i had a feeling it would be called something else which. viola! while it might not be a season whatsoever, i do think chronologically it'll take place after the events of all stars, which makes it the closest we're probably gonna get to a s5. there wasn't any talk of this being a 'spin-off' which is also worth noting.

ah okay so ... not gonna lie, i don't think it was a good move to lead fans on. maybe joey didn't see it like that! but that's kinda how it feels like. all those promos and teasers and everything etn twitter has said was entirely false -- since none of those clips are from the movie and was more so filmed for hype. i truly think joey should've just been honest from the jump instead of building anticipation, and letting people straight up believe we were getting a trailer or an episode today when there's not anything concrete filmed. i don't see how this was a good idea whatsoever! fans would've been eager to contribute even without all the false hype. if we've been around for more content despite the four year hiatus, we'd be willing to help out with a movie. honestly, this news would be way more exciting if fans hadn't been led into expecting something else. i just don't see why they thought this was the best course of action?

this might sound mean but i don't like the idea of fans having a say in the movie, like at all. i get it! it'd be fun, it'd show the community he cares and appreciates them, but to me fans getting involved in projects never ends well. it'd be one thing to have them appear on set, have their names be in the credits, but to actually have a hand in the casting and parts of the script? this does not bode well to me. while i talk obsessively about who i'd love for etn to bring back and how they should let me in the writer's room, this is usually a joke. i like seeing authentic projects! to see what the creators themselves come up with! and i've mostly loved what joey's done for the show so far. it just feels like this is such a dangerous position to give fans, who would've paid 350 dollars for this, because it can so quickly turn into a mess. on one hand, imagine you pay so much money to have a say in these things only to not get a single person in your dream cast into the final project? and on the other hand, imagine having someone who's paid you so much and then having them demand a pick that you're not really into but say yes to anyway. i would hope there's some clear boundaries in place and a mutual understanding, however i simply think this is better off not being a thing entirely. though i'll acknowledge this is partly due to my own distaste for a majority of old etn fan opinions and behavior. if i was gonna have anyone work on the movie there'd only be a select few i'd trust! i don't know, this feels like it's going to be such a wild card and not in the best way.

at least joey looks hot and handsome in his 1950s attire ... and him having a whole studious side to him was fun to see. but also? this man doesn't have a single thought in his head. he really was like “what's that mean? a box inside a box?” and kept acting confused when the obviously not human waitress turned out to be evil and weird. what did he expect?? he makes it seem like he knows he's in pandora's box ( says something like, “i'm trying to get home.” in the promo ) only to be shocked when evil things happen. i love you joey you stupid bitch <3

when the waitress asked if he was waiting for someone i was like MAT???? sorry i couldn't help myself i miss him so bad and i'm sure joey does too.

kinda got my hopes up thinking the new building he was in was the s1 estate but no ... it's the crimson manor apparently? which, also, might not be apart of the movie? so why are they selling merch of it? i digress, but um, i cannot believe we'd go back to another small location for this glance into what a movie could be like. this is pandora's box and you're telling me that all that's there is some manor and a diner? there better be more locations because we need to go big or go home. personally, i'm still attached to the idea of pandora's box opening for real and causing havoc in the real world -- forcing areas to be trapped in different time periods and such. it'd be a bigger scale thing while staying true to the foundations but what would i know? i'm not in the producer's circle ( thank god for us all ).

did enjoy joey's hand getting stabbed. i wasn't expecting it! and i would enjoy a movie purely because we'd see more of a maiming element rather than threat = instant death. we could get scars! i am quite fond of this idea to be honest. plus it's fun to see joey just react, instinctively, and be allowed to fight back. him picking up glass with his bare hands to attack the waitress? i like the idea ... it reminds me of when alex in s4 just started swinging on the egyptian men. give me more guests fighting back! give me more of them crawling across the floor and showing off their raw, survival instincts that are now so ingrained into them as people that they don't know who they are without it. it's fun!

i'll end it there for now, but full disclosure : i haven't eaten yet! so if this is a little everywhere i'm sorry. i knew if i didn't get my thoughts down asap i'd forget entirely and change my mind later, which is fine, but i wanted everyone to see my initial feelings. please note that none of this is said with malice! i love joey and etn and i'll still watch this movie when it comes out, maybe even donate to some degree, however all that love and respect doesn't negate my criticism or weariness. a movie could be really good! this could be exactly the newness the series needs. but my emotions are a little everywhere regardless.
