It is even more beautiful than I remember, and thanks to the bestie, I was able to see my husband in all of his glory LIVE and in 4K. Okay, but I was degenerate throughout this whole post, so let's just put a pause on that and actually review the game properly.

This is still a work of the Gods, and I honestly love the tweaks and additions that were made. From Brittany's personality being tweaked so it reads more as "I swear, I'm not mean; I'm just really bad at talking to people" to Crowe's scenario being way more in depth to getting some more CGs of my husband Sol. The art style is still damned IMMACULATE to look at, and the plot is STILL plotting. Also...he's cute, but I lowkey don't trust Crowe, because why are you so perfect? The dev(s) is/are writing the EFF out of these characters. Like, honestly? Continue to pop off.

I definitely plan to buy my own copy, and I HIGHLY suggest that you do the same. It's honestly just the spicy scenes, so it's not like "Ooh, extra lore!" or anything, but they are honestly so deserving of that monetary support. Not to mention, the NSFW version is what the Gods would have wanted.

Even though, I'm wondering if we'll ever explicitly know Sol's (and definitely Crowe's and Hyugo's[/Geo's]) background. Now, admittedly and as far as I know, this is really the only piece of "lore" that you'll miss if you don't get the NSFW version, because I'm certain that I'm not the only one that's noticed it, but just in case you haven't (and I'm cutting the heck out of this CG because it's very spicy, but I need you guys to see what I'm talking about).

What's up with these bruises? Like, you see that right? But it's not in the other picture, so it's like...? What the eff happened? Like, the reason why I say that is because the second picture happened BEFORE the first picture, so something happened to him, but what? I know that it's implied by some of the things that Sol says and how he responds to stuff and some of his mannerisms that he came from a pretty shitty background, but what exactly and is it ongoing?

But, then again, it's like duh it's ongoing, because he said that "it's the usual" that he deals with...uh...certain situations. Check this out though; in that same breath, he was like "every bruise is worth it". Like...what? That's not-- That's not a normal or healthy thought let alone something you'd actual verbalize. Like, I'm telling you, the dev(s) is/are murdering this visual novel thing. No wonder it's so easy to forget that Sol is a literal walking red flag. I'm more focused on the plot than whether or not he's gonna drug my food.

Also, also, also, I just want to yap really briefly about my favorite CG... screen... UI thingy...that I can't show you. Not because it's a spicy one but because, even though you can probably read between the lines, it'd be, what I feel is, a major spoiler. Just as a slight "pro" tip. That little green heart at the top right of your screen that turns blue when you hover over it?

It leads to that screen with the scale that shows your affinity level for Sol and Crowe. Just...check in on that thing a lot; you may see something interesting. When you do see that interesting thing...please, think of me ಥ‿ಥ Because next to the way that the affinity level is shown altogether, it was my absolute favorite thing about the update. That was done so beautifully. ...Damn, I want to show you all so badly ._.

Anyways, I think my yap session should end here. I've already said it a handful on times, but what's one more time? I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this game. It's so good, the art is amazing, the plot is plotting, and so much work and love has gone into this game, and it's STILL only in its demo phase. I suggest donating $5 to have (permanent) access to the NSFW version and/or telling the dev(s), "Hey! Really love your game! I was just wondering if you take human sacrifices? Would that expedite the full release? Anyways! You're doing great, sweetie! <3"; aggressively supportive validation is really the only way to go, because they really are doing more than a damned good job. You should honestly see it for yourself. Sure, Anon! I'm very, very sorry about how long this took. I'm extremely burnt out right now because of a mix of family problems and holidays. But hopefully, I'm back to normal enough to finally get all of my requests done!

James

Giving- Gift giving. James is the type to bring home flowers for his S/O. He also is very attentive, so if they mention something they want, he's very good at remembering it for later. If he sees something in the store or online they've mentioned or he believes they will want, he will get it for them. There are many times when he will bring them home their favorite candies and favorite type of flower.

Receiving- Listening to him yap. James is a certified yapper and a type of affection he enjoys receiving, is someone who'll listen and engage in his yap seshes.

Erik

Giving- Words of affirmation. And I don't just mean the typical flirting we see him do in the game. This man is poetic when he reassures and hypes up his S/O. He will do everything to make sure they know just how amazing he thinks they are.

Recieving- also words of affirmation. He's very secure in his relationship but very insecure in himself. Mostly because he's not even sure who he is sometimes. Constantly feeling as if you're in an identity crisis can really mess up someone's self-esteem. So sometimes he needs his partner to assure him that he is a good person and is still lovable without the mask.

Sam

Giving- Acts of service. He's the quickest to complain when James tells him to do a chore, but he also will do all of the chores around the house if he knows his S/O doesn't want to. He's also carrying his S/Os bags, especially if they're heavy and the S/O is struggling slightly. He's like. Why should they have to struggle with that when I could carry those with my pinky??? ~~He's low key showing off~~

Receiving- Quality time/physical affection. Sam sees himself as a monster, it's a major part of his character arc. He just thinks he's a bad person. So, his partner just genuinely wanting to be around him makes him extremely happy, even if he keeps up the nonchalant act. It's also nice to know his partner feels so safe around him.

Matthew

Giving- gifts. But instead of bringing home flowers for his S/O, he makes them things! He'll bake them tons of their favorite sweets and, of course, invite them to join him at times. He also makes them tons of plushies if they like. And I can see him spending a lot of time perfecting conjuring jewelry for his S/O.

Recieving- physical affection. Like Sam, he loves cuddling and being close with his partner. He's just less subtle about it. He never even tries to hide the happiness in his eyes every time they ask to spend time with him or cuddle up to him in bed.

Damien

Giving- Quality time. He likes going on walks around the mansion and through town with his S/O. He also likes the intimacy of laying in bed and simply sleeping together while cuddling. (I also headcanon this for Sam but forgot to mention it.)

Receiving- Acts of service. But not like them doing chores for him and stuff. But them reading to him, teaching him how to read and write, taking the time to spend time with him. Things like that. It makes him feel loved and like he matters to them.

Another Yap-sesh: PJO CASTING for Season 2 (Please read)

In light of the recent casting announcements, I just wanted to remind the greater PJO fandom (not that I should have to), THIS ADAPTATION IS NOT CONCERNED WITH "BOOK ACCURACY" WHEN IT COMES TO PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.

They are prioritizing personality and acting ability.

I shouldn't HAVE to spell this out, since none of the literal main characters have been book accurate, but I'm still seeing shit like, "Idc if annabeth is black, but Rachel BETTER have red hair", "Thalia HAS to have her blue eyes! It's so important in the book", yadda yadda yadda

If the main characters aren't book accurate, idk why y'all are acting like they're suddenly going to lock in with side characters based off features that y'all are pretending are more important than they are because in all honesty, you just don't like change (let's at least be honest).

Like... no, it doesn't matter that Rachel Dare's initials spell out R.E.D. The red hair, literally does not fundamentally affect her story arc in the original series (I know y'all are gonna come up with some dumb B.S. like "that's the first thing Percy noticed about her! Red hair is the ONLY thing that will make her stand out!" "We're losing redhead rep. Rachel is the only character that made me feel okay about having red hair!" blah blah blah lmao)

Listen, with the exception of characters like Nico, Bianca, Ethan Nakamura, etc. Where their ethnicity actually plays into the character or story arc, y'all need to let go of hair color, skin tone, eye color, etc.

The announcements that have been leaked for Thalia and Tyson are asking for actors of any ethnicity and have no mention of any particular physical features (just an age range, that Thalia will have a punk aesthetic and Tyson needs to look like a large teenager). So accept the following:

Thalia might not have dark hair or blue eyes

Either character may be non-white (that doesn't mean they'll be black, cuz I know some of y'all will automatically try to use this as an excuse to be anti-black [["Anti-woke" losers try not use black people as a scapegoat challenge, level: impossible]]. And also, they never actually described Tyson's racial identity lmao. Y'all just tend to default to white. I'm sure you won't be losing your minds about "book accuracy" when the actor doesn't have big, disjointed, yellow teeth either).

Anyway, I'm actually deviating from the point. I don't particularly have any aesthetic demands for the characters, believe it or not. I personally don't need either of them to be poc (but I will always stand by, that DEI is a good thing and white people can never lose "rep", since it's not something y'all were ever barred from), nor do I care about eye color or hair color. They could both be completely "book accurate" and I wouldn't have an issue with it (although, I kinda hope Rachel Dare won't be a redhead, so the last of the "book accuracy" as a shield for bigotry cry babies will finally drop this series once and for all, so the rest of us can enjoy it for what it is).

The point of the post is that there is a *chance* they might not be physically book accurate, and there is no reason for y'all to put another young actor through what you demons put 12 year old Leah through (feel free to read the pinned on my page, careful tho, I'm a yapper, to get a clearer idea of that whole mess).

Once y'all leave your little echo-chamber of false reality that is the internet, actors are working people who apply for jobs they are qualified for. If there are no physical or racial specifications for a role, these working actors, who are hoping for their big break have every right to audition (btw, it's not "race-swapping" if the auditions are open to everyone. Check my pinned). When they are given that role, that is the decision of Disney, the casting directors, and Mr. Rick Riordan himself. If you disagree, find the private emails of the people responsible and contact them yourselves. Harassing the actors for fairly earning the role, and complaining about their casting on public pages "(not based off their performance, solely on their looks), which will just incite more hate towards them for being a WORKING ACTOR and accepting a JOB, makes you a bigot. No two ways about it. It is just insane behavior.

What's that completely inaccurate adage about insanity, again? Something about doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.

Y'all have seen the first season. The author, show-runners, writers AND producers have spoken ad nauseam about the direction of this adaptation. The books have not been burned. They still exist in all their glory for you to read. If you need 1:1 book accuracy, this adaptation is not for you. Plenty of people have enjoyed it for what it is. Why are you making yourself miserable? Why are you making the fandom miserable? Why are you desperately trying to make the actors (most of whom are minors) miserable?

Nobody is holding a gun to your head. Simply, don't. Watch. It.

Cuz if they announce the casting for season 2, and y'all starting acting shocked that they're not "book accurate" and sending hate mobs to young actors and inciting racism and bigotry in the Fandom AGAIN... I think it'll finally speak to the true nature of this fandom. It was never about "book accuracy" it was always about hate. estoned🪴here🔥 YIPPEE MY FIRST QUESTION!! so excited wowie this is gonna be very long (so sorry for the yap sesh, these hcs have been brewing since 2020)

First of all, 100% they have played classical music together, whether it be together in a larger ensemble, duet/solo + accompaniment (more on this later)

I don't know how it would work in the canon universe but I like to think that they've played in an orchestra together at some point while living under russia's rule (and this sorta goes into another idea of mine: i don't think ivan himself was completely evil or abusive all time, but rather more "abused becomes the abuser" and misunderstood because of his upbringing as a child. i think he meant well and wanted them to be like a "family", so he'd bend some rules to allow them to pursue some hobbies or "careers"* for a while but a lot of the hardships they faced were because of the time, living conditions, and government. so put a bunch of people who can semi coexist with each other into a bad living situation, there was bound to be conflict between them.) i did some research and there were professional orchestras in the ussr, so maybe that?

*a little more abt this, i think nations usually take on extra hobbies and "careers" but have to have a fake name and "retire" early.

ex.) (in austria's case) people would be a little suspicious if the same conductor with the same name worked with the same orchestra for decades without aging at all.

the soviet mansion (what else do ppl call that group nowadays? is referring to them as "soviets" offensive?? i don't wanna offend anyone😞) used to have a grand piano for estonia (something russia requested because estonia had already lived under his rule once so he knew he enjoyed playing piano) and prussia was allowed to buy a flute (instruments are crazy expensive so probably something cheap), so in their spare time when they weren't working or doing chores (or fighting), estonia and prussia would play together. until eventually, they had to sell the piano for some extra cash but not without estonia's one condition: that he be allowed to buy another instrument for cheap with some of the money from the piano (grand pianos are pretty expensive so.) eventually though, their shared hobby was pushed aside as they eventually had to sell their own instruments a few years later.

as for austria, he comes in after the dissolution of the ussr when prussia was once again living with his brother, germany. he mentioned to austria how estonia and him would pass the time during their stay at russia's and austria reached out, excited to have a musician aquientance who was more tolerable than prussia.

nowadays, they get together to discuss classical music in general as well as personal stories of working with ensembles and different pieces they have played/want to play. this might be a little specific, but their main topic at the moment is debating which movement of Gustav Holst's "The Planets" is the best and why. (i might sound like a total nerd but the planets suite is so good??? a staple in any musicians playlist of classical music)

hello besties!!! i’m back from the dead (aka my yearly seasonal depression rot). i hope everyone had a wonderful holiday 🫶🏻

i was lurking on here yesterday, of course for our boy’s b-day, but the constant reminder that he did not live to see old age had me spiraling so i logged off lol. i’m so happy seeing so many besties posting pics from Memphis this week - have so much fun and eat some gumbo for me!! fingers crossed i can get back to Graceland at some point this year 🤞🏼

now for the yap sesh (putting this under the cut because literally who cares lol)

i’m taking a 6 month ballet class that starts today and i’m so nervous. i’ve never danced before, but i was OBSESSED with barre pre-covid (it’s a mix of pilates and ballet), so i think i’ll like it. one of my goals for this year is to find ways to move my body that i actually enjoy - i’m just not a HIIT girlie and i need to accept that. so wish me luck because i’m very nervous but very excited!!

another one of my goals for this year is to spend more time developing my hobbies and creative endeavors. to that end, i’ve started writing!! i haven’t written fiction since high school, but i have so many ideas floating around in my head and i thought it might be a fun creative outlet. i cannot thank @atleastpleasetelephone enough for being so encouraging and helpful when i obviously have no idea what i’m doing 🙈 so grateful for you and for all of the other girlies here who i love and adore. my goal was to post chapter 1 on e’s birthday but alas, that was not in the cards for me. coming soon though hopefully!!

we were snowed in last weekend (we got over 12 inches, it snowed for 2 days straight ☠️) and apparently we are getting MORE this weekend, so i will be snug as a bug at home and will hopefully crank out a few chapters. i also want to get back into painting, which i’ve always loved but haven’t done in a long time for various reasons. i have a few painting ideas floating around in my noggin but i’ll probably just end up painting elvis first because why not lol.

lastly, my fiancé and i are finishing our basement and re-doing our living room ourselves. this is my first real experience with woodworking (we’re building walls and making a very beautiful built in book case for our living room), so if anyone has experience and wants to provide tips, i’m all ears. my fiancé loves woodworking and hasn’t really done it since college, so i’m excited to see him also get back to the things he loves.

Why Eomir is one of my favourite villains

This will mostly be a dive into Eomir as a character as there's not heaps of lore for him, mostly just information about him as a person, but let's just get into why he's one of my fav villains!

The short answer is that he's not some poor, manipulated, misunderstood little guy, he doesn't have a sad backstory that absolves him of his crimes, he just sucks, and the game tells us as much, both upfront and through diary entries found in the environment and the way the thorned faction (which he leads) in general are described.

I will let this speak for itself

Eomir has always sucked. It's stated by Dahnie and Arden a few times that they fought alongside Eomir and that's how all three became sages, but throughout chapter 2 and 3 you often get the sense that no one who knows him personally really likes him, he's just tolerated due to the past. He's respected by those who don't truly know him because with his leadership the thorned guards defended the dark forest against the hypofiends.

He is one of the characters I'd say is irredeemable, not just because he killed people/allowed an entire village to die, but because he used his status to exert control in order for it to happen.

Eomir has a need for control, he makes this clear throughout his dialogue, but again, his controlling nature is also shown to us before we even meet him in the form of lyca's description of the thorned guards (see image 1 in this post) and the way he uses the thorned guards to unilaterally execute the exclusion edict despite no one else wanting it, and how he manufactures situations in order to "justify" this (the thorned guards trying to purposely injure and kidnap Damian in order to blame it on the refugees)

He also boasts his perceived superiority over Dahnie, Arden, and even Eironn, repeatedly putting them down as he claims to be the one true leader, you see him get more aggressive with this whenever he feels threatened.

A few examples in his dialogue:

Back to the ghost village, yes he actually did allow those villagers to die to the corruption. That's why no one knew about the corruption in that village, and that was also likely his motivation. He had to start somewhere in order for the corruption to take root, he always planned for those villagers to die so that no one could be warned, and so his reputation remained intact, he used his status as a sage to achieve this.

Eironn says he chose to turn a blind eye, I personally believe that to be untrue, I feel that's his way of coping, trying to perceive it as him not paying attention rather than him planning their deaths from the start. They were sacrificed, as Lorsan puts it, it was intentional.

Throughout chapters 2 and 3 it's clear he's never really been a pleasant or nice person, the traits mentioned above are not new, but some of them are amplified by the situation. I love the fact he doesn't have a sad backstory that tries to justify why he's like this, I love the fact he just. Sucks. It's refreshing to have an irredeemable villain that's not super satan! He was not manipulated into doing any of this, he did it because he wanted to, he was already the kind of person who would do this kinda stuff and that's why Illucia targeted him, because she didn't have to manipulate him into doing anything, he was easy pickings, a willing subject, a power hungry wannabe dictator.
