Episode 28 reactions.
Zhuo Yichen, my sweet summer child! Wen Xiao has absolutely read those kinds of novels.
Now that he's a demon, ZYC gets to wear those little fur pompoms and the soft, textured fabrics all the demons wear that make them look so touchable.
"I told you everyone in the Wilderness knows me."
My girl Pei Sijing! "Wen Xiao, don't blame yourself. Not everyone is as kind as you. Don't let others' wickedness change your kindness." I love to see a brave, strong lesbian helping her girlfriend stay strong.
Zhuo Yichen is ready to choose Zhao Yuanzhou over Bai Jiu!
To be fair, it must be confusing to suddenly become a great demon and zhiji with the demon you once swore to kill. His priorities are a little unclear to him right now.
Ying Long/Zhao Yuanzhou always makes the hard choices so Bingyi/Zhuo Yichen doesn't have to.
The sound quality is a bit off during Ying Lei's speech?
"It's not 'we.' It's just you and Zhuo Yichen." Pei Sijing keeping it real like a true soldier! I love her.
"Anyone who wants to take Zhao Yuanzhou's inner core has to defeat me first." Honey, you don't even have a sword anymore! But I guess your demonic energy alone is enough to defeat most challengers.
Inner cores look like giant gumballs.
How can they not smell the handiwork of Chongwu Camp in all this? They're the ones who've been hounding ZYZ for his inner core.
Oh, never mind. They're on top of things.
THIS is Wen Zongyu's villain origin story? When people lose it in cdramas, they really go all out, don't they.
Poor Zhuo Yichen! He walks right into every joke and I love it. He's so honest they can't even let him in on their act.
"Let’s not alert them." My good demon daddy, sir. There is literally a demonized human with one of PSJ's demon-zapping arrows sitting up right now. WZY even recognized her arrow. Exactly what do you think not alerting them means?
ZYZ and WX finally kiss and we don't even get to see it clearly. Holding to the rule that if we can't see the MM pair kissing, we can't see the MF pair, either. Fair and balanced! All love is equal here.
The way WX and ZYZ react to ZYC pouting has me screaming. ZYZ is concerned and wants to make things right at first but WX is like, "Xiao Zhuo, stop being a little bitch. We'll let you in on the act next time." And ZYZ smirks. I am SCREAMING! This throuple is too perfect!!!
I am loving ZYC's new demon attire. Although, I gotta say, this black, gold-beaded outer robe number looks suspiciously like a ZYZ hand me down. Or like he's doing the classic cinema thing of wearing the boyfriend's shirt to suggest they've been physically intimate. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Is it really a good idea to let Ying Lei be in charge of the dragon scale? Sure, he loves Bai Jiu like a little brother, but he's also the kind of guy who would lose his head if it weren't attached.
I was right. *shakes head*
"Thanks Ao Yin. As a little treat I'll give you the Truth Eye so you can see my on point eyeliner and sultry smile."
Just kidding. They wouldn't really put YL in charge of the dragon scale.
Or, can Li Lun extract it without opening the box?

Which dub you likes better? Portuguese or english?
Oh, I loved getting this question! I have a lot to say on this subject because I really like talking about dubbing.
Sit down kids, and get ready for a little infodump about the Brazilian/Portuguese dubbing of Ed, Edd n Eddy! (the show has never been dubbed in Portugal. The only Portuguese dub is the Brazilian one, so referring to this EEnE dubbing as "Brazilian" or "Portuguese" is the same thing, same dub).
** I edited this post to make some additions. They're highlighted in purple **
Brazilian adaptation
First of all, it's important to say that here in Brazil, "Ed, Edd n Eddy" is "Du, Dudu e Edu". I already explained it here, but I'll explain it again. The Brazilian/Portuguese version of Edward is Eduardo, and the common nicknames are Dudu and Edu, so they just had to create the nickname "Du" (at least I've never seen someone called Eduardo being called Du) and there you go, we have the perfect adaptation! We lost the "Double D" nickname as we didn't have the issue of "Ed" and "Edd" sounding the same, so they just didn't see the need to keep it. So every time he's called "Double D" they just dub it as "Dudu" too. To me it's one of the best adaptations because it wouldn't sound very natural to call them "Edward/Eds" and it makes a lot of sense:
Ed = Du (1 D) Edd = Dudu (2 D's) Eddy = Edu ("Ed" with a sound at the end)
They even solved the issue of Ed and Edd sounding the same (even though I think Double D is a great and cute nickname and I really like this addition and miss it in the Brazilian dub, but I assume the reason it was added was in order to solve this issue).
Some funny things:
In the first episode (The Ed-Touchables) there's a dubbing error in a scene where Eddy calls Ed by his original name instead of "Du". I don't know how this went unnoticed because he calls him "Du" at all other times. It's only in the scene where Eddy says "Ed! Don't move! And stop giggling!".
There are also some errors in other episodes where they mix up the Eds (it only happens in the first season(s) if I remember correctly). There is, for example, a scene in "Who, What, Where, Ed" (season 1, episode 21) in which Lee in the Brazilian dub mistakenly refers to Eddy by Edd's Brazilian name (Dudu), and this scene kinda pisses me off because of the error but it's so freaking funny because besides them mistaking Eddy for Double D, they also changed her line to something that would only make sense if she was referring to Eddy. She says "Eddy's such a weasel", and they dubbed it as "O Dudu é o mais gostoso" ("Double D's the hottest [of them]"), which doesn't make any sense since Eddy's her crush and it just cracks me up, both for the error and for the unexpectedly somewhat inappropriate line for a kid's show (I think that here in Brazil calling someone "hot" may be a little more inappropriate than in English, at least I guess...?).
Another important adaptation I forgot to mention: since jawbreakers are a sweet that doesn't exist in Brazil (we have a sweet called "quebra-queixo" ("jawbreaker") but it's different, it's just another name for our "pé de moleque" ("kid's foot")), for some reason, they decided to translate it as "balas de caramelo" ("caramel candies"). I have no idea why, but I like that name.
Brazilian dub
The Brazilian dub has a very special place in my heart because it was the one I grew up with, so it gives me a lot of nostalgia, and honestly it's a very good dub in general (I think Brazilian voice actors do an excellent job besides the errors because they're great at making dubs with a lot of emotion and naturalness).
There are even some scenes that I find funnier in the Brazilian dub because the voice intonation is stronger/more dramatic/has more emotion, or because they changed the lines to something funnier (I'm not a fan of changing lines, but I don't mind changes if it's just to make the line stronger and the original meaning and essence of what was said is maintained). Some examples:
"A Glass of Warm Ed" (season 1, episode 19) - Double D saying "Oh dear. An intruder. Eating all the food out of my refrigerator. In bare feet!" in Portuguese sounds funnier to me because his voice intonation in "In bare feet!" seems a little more terrified. This scene always gets me because of the way he talks. I love Double D’s concept of things escalating from bad to worse. Like: An intruder = oh how inconvenient Eating all my food = oh no, that’s terrible! In bare feet! = good lord! that’s TOO MUCH! COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!!!
"Eds-Aggerate" (season 1, episode 23) - As I said, Kevin's Brazilian voice sounds much funnier to me, so I'll give just one of the countless examples of this because otherwise I'd have to mention all of his lines. Kevin says "Mucky... boys?" — which was dubbed here as "Garotos primatas" ("Primate boys") — and "Baloney!" — which was dubbed here as "Mentira!" ("Lies!/You're lying!") —, and I just love the way it sounds in Portuguese.
"Avast Ye Eds" (season 1, episode 26) - Eddy's line in Portuguese sounds funnier to me because his voice intonation and line seem ruder, more impatient and more tired. In the original dub he says "Hey kid, I'm on my break. Do you mind?", and it was dubbed as "Ô garoto, eu tô de folga. Não enche o saco" ("Hey kid, I'm on a break. Get off my back/Get out of my face/Don't piss me off" [I don't know which one is the best way to translate it]).
"Knock, Knock, Who's Ed?" (season 2, episode 3) - This is one of the best examples I can give of line change that just makes it funnier without losing its original meaning. In the scene where Ed offers a candy stuck to his leg and says "I got this one for Christmas", it was dubbed as "Essa tá aqui desde que eu era bebê" ("This one's been here since I was a baby"). The fun of this line is to express that the candy has been stored on his leg for a very long time, so this change just amplified this, increasing the time the candy would be there and making the line much more absurd and funny.
"One + One = Ed" (season 2, episode 4) - Double D's line in Portuguese sounds much funnier to me because they changed the line to something more direct and less soft (even though Double D's a gentle, delicate and polite character, he's also brutally honest and sometimes says some unexpected harsh things quite bluntly, so I don't think it was out of character for him). In the original dub he says "I best tend to his medical needs. Excuse me", and it was dubbed as "Eu vou ver o que sobrou do Edu, tá? Um instante" ("I'm going to see what's left of Eddy, okay? Just a moment"). This line makes me imagine him literally picking up the pieces of Eddy. I don't know, I'm a very visual and literal person, so this line sounds really funny to me, especially with him saying it with a smile.
"Floss Your Ed" (season 2, episode 8) - Double D saying "Plain butter?" in Portuguese sounds much funnier to me because his voice intonation seems more terrified. In the original dub he just sounds confused and speechless to me, whereas in Portuguese he seems more disconcerted, shocked, perplexed, astonished, intrigued and disturbed that Rolf would suggest that Ed eat plain butter. I like this because Double D's a character who's easily impressed and shocked by things and tends to have strong reactions to absurd situations or even situations that aren't considered absurd to others. To me it makes perfect sense that he'd be terrified and have a reaction that highlights the absurdity of the act of eating plain butter. To me it's like it went from "Plain… butter? 😶" to "Plain butter!? 😨".
"Honor Thy Ed" (season 2, episode 17) - I was a little disappointed when I watched the original episode because I really thought Eddy said what he said in the Brazilian dub and I really liked that line, but then I found out it was actually a line change. Ed says "You scared Double D, Eddy" and Eddy says "I did, didn't I? C'mon, I got an idea", and it was dubbed as: Ed: "Assustou o magricela" ("You scared the scrawny guy") / Eddy: "Ah, eu sei disso, Du. Adoro deixar ele nervoso" ("Oh, I know that, Ed. I love making him nervous"). It sounded so teasing, a bit EddEddy, I really loved it and I was totally convinced it was the original line because it sounded so much like something Eddy would say.
"Jingle Jingle Jangle" (Christmas Special episode) - Okay, so let's talk about really inappropriate dubbing. There's a scene where Rolf originally says "You have pulled Rolf's eggplant, half-man, half-woman Ed boy", and it was dubbed as "Impressionou o órgão em formato de berinjela do Rolf, Edu" ("You impressed Rolf's eggplant-shaped organ, Eddy"). I think it's so funny how explicit that line got, but it kinda saddens me that they cut out the "half-man, half-woman" part.
Kevin's Brazilian voice is one of the funniest to me. I'd say Alexandre Moreno is one of the most famous Brazilian voice actors with one of the most memorable voices. He dubs Adam Sandler (the work for which he's best known), dubbed Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Antonio Banderas, Josh Duhamel, Martin Freeman, dubbed Puss in Boots from Shrek, Alex from Madagascar, Syndrome from The Incredibles, Dracula from Hotel Transylvania, Flapjack, Flint from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Denzel Crocker from The Fairly OddParents, Adam from Bee Movie, Numbuh 9 from Kids Next Door, Krusty from The Simpsons, and many others. Even though I love Kevin's original voice (and especially his laugh, which I particularly prefer in the original voice), I think the Brazilian one sounds funnier and more informal.
Sarah's Brazilian voice actress did many important and memorable voices too. Iara Riça was the main voice actress for Harley Quinn, Brenda Song, Tara Strong, dubbed Tails, Blossom from Powerpuff Girls, Frankie from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Cree from Kids Next Door, Fionna from Adventure Time, Tecna from Winx Club, Courtney from Total Drama, Charlotte from The Princess and the Frog, Princess Su from Mulan 2, Yumi from Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, and many others). She was one of my favorite voice actresses, but she unfortunately passed away on April 27, 2021. I think her voice was perfect for Sarah. She was able to do annoying and striking voices just right.
Eddy's Brazilian voice is quite different, but in the end I think it suits him because it's a very strong and chaotic voice too. Ricardo Juarez dubbed Will Ferrell, Taz, Johnny Bravo, Kratos from God of War, Melman from Madagascar, Barney from The Simpsons, Fuzzy from Powerpuff Girls, and some others.
Lee's Brazilian voice was also a voice that I think was really great for her. Nádia Carvalho was a famous and remarkable Brazilian actress and voice actress. She dubbed Bette Midler, Queen Latifah, Miranda Richardson, Edna from The Incredibles, Dexter's mom from Dexter's Laboratory, and many others. She also unfortunately passed away on July 11, 2022.
Fun facts:
Double D and Rolf share the same Brazilian voice actor and I think he did a great job with both of them. His voice makes Double D sound a little hoarse, something that I think suits the character and contributes to making some lines funnier and stronger/more dramatic. Luiz Sérgio Vieira dubbed Static from Static Shock, Matsuda from Death Note, Numbuh 4 from Kids Next Door, Bloo from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Timmy from The Fairly OddParents, Jonathan from Stranger Things, Plagg from Miraculous Ladybug, Ralph from The Simpsons, Gibby from iCarly, and many others.
Nazz's first Brazilian voice actress is a mystery. We have no information on who she was, and she dubbed her for like, almost half of the show (I still need to check if it's correct, but according to the wiki she dubbed her in: season 1, season 2, the first half of season 3 and one episode from season 4), being replaced by Sylvia Salustti, another memorable voice (she dubbed Tweety from Looney Tunes, Pearl from Steven Universe, Rapunzel from Tangled, Eva from Wall-E, Foxy from Chicken Little, Ring Ring from Pucca, Amy from The Big Bang Theory, Rachel from Glee, Phoebe from Friends, and many others).
English/original dub x Brazilian dub
However, I prefer the original dub. I really love the original voices, especially Eddy's (God bless Tony Sampson). Most of Eddy's scenes are always funny to me just because of his voice tone, everything he says is funny to me because of the exaggerated, loud and chaotic way he talks. A voice that I think is much better in the original dub is Jonny's. I don't dislike the Brazilian voice, but it's just too... normal. Jonny's original voice suits his personality very well because it shows how nuts and lunatic he is. Jimmy's original voice also sounds a little more, well... gay.
I think the EEnE crew did an excellent job and I'm so grateful that Danny Antonucci was the pain-in-the-ass perfectionist guy telling them to repeat their lines until it was good enough because we really got a show with wonderful and memorable lines. I really love it when people are genuinely passionate about things and really care about making them perfect in an obsessive way. I'm very much like that... and of course Antonucci is too, that's his Double D side. I also love how this is reflected in the fandom. I see that this fandom is full of people who don't like the show in a simple and shallow way, but in an obsessed and passionate way (it's one of my reasons for thinking that EEnE is a show that primarily appeals to neurodivergent people. We just hyperfixate on things, in this case EEnE, and cling to them like they're the most important and amazing thing in the world to us).
I'd say the only voice that leaves me torn about which one I think is better is Kevin's. But apart from him, I think all the original voices are better, but please don't get me wrong. As I said, I love the Brazilian dub, I just prefer the original one, that's all. I'd say that the original dub is 10/10 and the Brazilian dub is like 8/10.
Things in the Brazilian dub that I don't like
There are some things that aren't necessarily bad, it's just something that I personally don't like for particular reasons and personal preferences.
One of my biggest complaints about the Brazilian dub is something very specific: Ed's dub. I'm a perfectionist, very obsessive, so I like dubbing being as close as possible to the original one and suffering the less changes as possible (I think changes when translating a show/movie/series/book/game/etc are welcome for the reasons I previously explained, and also to adapt to our context and culture, such as changing the names of the Eds), and that's why I tend to prefer watching everything in the original dub, and even when it's dubbed in Portuguese I like to watch it with subtitles (for this same reason, and also because I have a hard time just listening to things because I probably have Central Auditory Processing Disorder. I wish I could turn on subtitles in real life too xD). Ed must be the character who has undergone the most line changes, I believe intending to make him more goofy and dumb, but at the same time I don't understand the need because his original lines were already very random and strange. Apparently, this happened due to the voice actor's own personal decision (I want to make it clear that I think the voice actor is really great and remarkable, but in this particular work I don't agree with his choices for the lines). Clécio Souto is a famous Brazilian actor, voice actor and announcer. He dubbed Chris Evans, Andy Samberg, James Franco, Jared Leto, Kel from Kenan & Kel, Castiel from Supernatural, Banana Joe from The Amazing World of Gumball, Lenny from Shark Tale, and many others. He created 3 catchphrases for Ed that he used very often in place of the original lines, which I genuinely can't understand because Ed already had catchphrases, so why not just keep them? According to him they wouldn't be funny to us, but I don't understand why he thinks so. Well, so in the Brazilian dub, Ed loses his original catchphrases. He no longer talks all the time about buttered toast and gravy, and his lines about chickens remained, but were changed to "galinha com quiabo" ("chicken with okra") (a Brazilian dish), which I really dislike because to me the point is that he likes chickens themselves, as animals, alive, and not as food. Him saying "Who's there?" was also replaced by one of his new catchphrases, "Nem doeu" ("It didn't even hurt").
Here's a video of him talking about it:
Translation of what he says in the video:
The character became known for the 3 line changes that I invented. Exactly, this one, Ed. I said "I love chicken with okra!". It didn't have that in the original. I don't remember [what he said in the original]. I change lines so much... I already look and say "I'm not gonna say that because it won't be funny to us. I'm gonna say something else", then "I love chicken with okra". Every time he bumped into something, he said something stupid or didn't even speak and had his back turned, I said "It didn't even hurt!". A line change of mine too, "It didn't even hurt". It became a catchphrase. And the other one was "Cute/pretty" [I don't know a proper way to translate it]. "Aw, I'm cute/pretty!", which was his too and didn't exist [in the original]. All line changes, all line changes.
There are so many line changes that I won't be able to mention them all, so here are a few examples, but keep in mind that there were A LOT of line changes in every episode:
"An Ed Too Many" (season 1, episode 11) - Instead of saying "And she's a good speller", Ed was dubbed saying "Ele vai ter um fim desgraçado" ("He's gonna have a disgraceful end"). The voice actor thought it'd be funnier to have Ed respond like a jealous older brother trying to protect his younger sister, and I must admit I found it very funny, especially because he speaks in a very normal way and not with an angry voice tone.
"Look Into My Eds" (season 1, episode 13) - Instead of saying "book" and "buttered toast" when Double D asks what he sees in the images, he says "meleca" ("booger") and "salsicha estragada" ("spoiled sausage"). And in the scene where Eddy asks about the hypnotizing wheel and Ed says it was "buttered toast", it was dubbed as "a black lollipop".
"A Boy and his Ed" (season 1, episode 16) - Instead of Eddy saying "Be Kevin's friends? We'd have a better chance of Ed growing a chin" and Ed saying "I wish I had 4 stomachs", it was dubbed as: Eddy: "Ser amigo do Kevin? Seria muito mais fácil se o Du deixasse crescer uma barba" ("Be Kevin's friend? It'd be much easier for Ed to grow a beard") / Ed: "Será que eu ia ficar bonitinho de barba?" ("I wonder if I'd look cute/pretty with a beard"). I really dislike this line change because they cut out the joke about Ed not having a chin, and removed him having a completely random line that has no connection with what Eddy said, something that's part of his character since he's supposed to be the distracted one, and thus, have nonsense lines and random thoughts.
"One + One = Ed" (season 2, episode 4) = At the end of the episode, instead of referencing the events that occurred previously by saying "Jimmy! You got your line back! Is it on wrong?", "Baby sister! Take your mouth off again" and "It's stuck", he was dubbed saying "Jimmy! Você sentou ao contrário. É pra lá, bobão" ("Jimmy! You sat backwards. It's that way, silly"), "E aí, maninha chata. Vamos brincar?" ("What's up, annoying sister. Let's play?") and "Ih, engasgou" ("Sheesh, she choked"). I honestly don't understand why the voice actor changed these lines. It just makes Ed look like he's being completely nonsensical not only to the other kids but to us too, because the fun of that scene was that he seemed crazy to the kids because they don't know the context of the things he's doing and saying, and not him being really random.
"Stop, Look and Ed" (season 2, episode 16) - Instead of saying "Why's Double D wearing pantyhose on his head?", Ed was dubbed saying "Tá parecendo o coelhinho da páscoa!" ("He looks like the Easter Bunny!"), which was very creative indeed.
"Your Ed Here" (season 4, episode 13) - Ed's classic line after the classic kiss scene "One is a lonely number, Double D" was dubbed as "O 1 é um número só, não é, Dudu?" ("1 is a single number, isn’t it, Double D?"). The biggest change was in the intonation of his voice, so instead of it being a sad statement, it turned into Ed just asking a random and stupid question. "One is a lonely number" may sound strange at first glance, but it's clear he means he felt left out.
The feeling I have is as if in the moments when Ed should have random lines they turned into lines with more sense, and in the lines with more sense they turned into random lines. Anyway, enough talking about Ed's dub. Despite everything I've pointed out, I don't consider it a bad dub. As I said, it's just a matter of my personal preference. The voice actor just wanted to give the character a boost, a little bit of his special touch, and I respect that.
Kevin had a second voice actor in some episodes (Duda Espinoza), which bothered me because I usually don't like voice actor changes, especially if the other voice sounded much better to me (I mean, it was fucking Alexandre Moreno. It sucks to just take away a remarkable voice like his), but at least it was only in a few episodes, so it didn't bother me that much. The change in Nazz's voice actress didn't bother me because both voices suited her to me.
I really love all the Brazilian voices (some more than others), I think they all suit the characters, even the ones that aren't so similar to the original voices. But there's a voice that was one of the worst choices I've ever seen in dubbing: Eddy's brother's voice. Honestly, this was their only really BAD choice in choosing a voice actor. Bro's literally an adult and in the Brazilian dub he sounds like a kid/teenager, because he was in fact dubbed by one! @eenedump already talked about it on Twitter, and it's true. Nothing against the guy, Luciano Monteiro is a great voice actor and did and does amazing dubbing (like Finn from Adventure Time, Freddie from iCarly, Zack and Cody, Lewis from Meet the Robinsons, Baljeet from Phineas and Ferb, and many others), but he just wasn't a good choice for Bro. He was a literal kid/teen at the time! 14 years old! Even the characters that are actually kids are dubbed by adults, so why would they choose someone who's actually a kid and sounds like a kid (if he at least sounded like an adult, age wouldn't be an issue) to dub the only adult who appears in the show? I can't see any explanation for this decision.
Now, a thing that REALLY haunted me in the Brazilian dub, disturbed me even more than Bro's voice, was in the Valentine's special episode "Hanky Panky Hullabaloo". The strangest, most disconcerting and unexplainable thing happened when I was watching it and it made me very confused, uncomfortable and concerned for the rest of the episode: Marie and May's voice actresses simply swapped places. I honestly can't think of any reason for that happening. Like, I hate when voice actors change, but I understand that it can happen because for some reason the first one can't voice the character anymore or just can't in some episodes. But this!? This is completely nonsense. What happened? Did everyone, including themselves, forget which Kanker they dubbed? There's no logical explanation and I've never seen this happening before in any other dub. Seriously, imagine watching Ed, Edd n Eddy almost in its entirety, with two characters having the same voices from the beginning, and suddenly you're hearing May's voice coming out of Marie's mouth and Marie's voice coming out of May's mouth. There's no other way to describe this occurrence other than Double D's classic line in "3 Squares and an Ed" (season 3, episode 6): "That's disturbing". I felt like I was in an alternate reality.
And in "May I Have This Ed?" (season 6, episode 1), Marie's voice actress dubbed May in the scene where she says "How about you get your claws off my man, boyfriend-stealer!", but in the previous scene when May says "Hey!" she seems to have been dubbed by the right voice actress. Again, disturbing.
There are some other minor things in the Brazilian dub that kinda bother me:
Double D sounds a little less formal, especially in the first seasons. A problem that happened in the Brazilian dub is that many words that Double D says in English that would be excessively formal are actually common words in Portuguese (to get around this and maintain the character's characteristic of having a sophisticated vocabulary, I'd try as much as possible to replace the words that Double D originally used with more unknown and difficult synonyms in Portuguese). There are times when Ed or Eddy shouldn't understand what he said or should get it wrong, but to us it wouldn't make sense that they wouldn't understand because Double D didn't say anything difficult to understand. I already gave an example of this in a post about the classic "Eddy, I fear they're becoming amorous!" line from "Home Cooked Eds" (season 2, episode 11). "Amorous" (amoroso(s) / amorosa(s)) is a very common word in Portuguese with a very normal meaning, not related to anything sexual at all, just meaning someone who's affectionate or sweet. For this reason, I made a line change to another word that would be more formal and carry a sexual meaning (in the Brazilian dub he just uses the word "amorosas"). Another example is in "Who Let the Ed In?" (season 2, episode 10), when Double D says "I'm at quite a quandary" and Eddy says "Forget your laundry". In English there are both the words "quandary" and "dilemma", but in Portuguese we only have the word "dilema", which is also a common word and which I still haven't been able to think of how to adapt to rhyme with something that Eddy would get wrong (in the Brazilian dub there's no joke with him getting it wrong, Eddy just understands what Double D says). And another example is in "Shoo Ed" (season 2, episode 20), when Eddy uses the word "provoke" and Double D's impressed that he knows that word. Again, a completely common word in Portuguese since we don't have the word "teasing", we only have "provocar".
Something unfortunately inevitable in all dubbings and adaptations but which bothers me anyway is the jokes that only make sense in English. As I'm subtitling the episodes, I'm coming across a very large number of jokes that I have no idea how to adapt into Portuguese. A good example of this problem is the classic "I'd swear, but standards won't let me" joke from "Ed Overboard" (season 4, episode 7). The fun of this joke is centered on exploring the dubious and ambiguous meaning of the word "swear", which can mean either "promise" or "express anger in a very rude and inappropriate way", something that doesn't exist in Portuguese, we just have different words for each of that. Since there was no way to adapt it, it was dubbed as "Até faria, mas não tô afim não" ("I'd do it, but I don't feel like it").
Something similar to the previous problem is lines that should rhyme but the rhyme just can't happen. In "Nagged to Ed" (season 1, episode 2), Eddy says "Nice head, Ed" and he even highlights the fact that it rhymed, but in Portuguese the word "head" doesn't rhyme with Du or Ed, so the scene just seems like Eddy's being stupid and saying that something that doesn't rhyme does rhyme (which honestly isn't that out of character for him as he's shown to be quite stupid at times, but the loss of this rhyme particularly bothers me).
There are some errors every now and then, but the dub errors are not even close to being a big reason for my rating 8/10 because they're not that frequent. However, every time they happen it bothers me. An example is in "Mirror, Mirron, on the Ed" (season 2, episode 22) when Eddy says "Once upon an observation of this small rock, I have discovered it actually mutated from a big rock", and it was dubbed as "Após a observação desta pequena pedra, eu descobri que na verdade ela se transformou em uma grande pedra" ("After the observation of this small rock, I have discovered that it actually turned into a big rock"), like... what?
Anyway, that's what I had to say. I love both dubs, I love the Brazilian dub despite the things I mentioned, but in the end I think the original dub is better.

Surprise!  Sally and I are back and starting to record new episodes of our EEnE rewatch podcast.  Danny Antonucci happened to notice it the other week coincidentally, so better strike while the iron's hot, lol!
We don't have a set release schedule yet, it's currently a "do 'em when we can" type of thing, but I'm currently editing ep 2, so we've got a little more momentum this time.
"Sally and Kevin are BACK and reviewing Ed, Edd n Eddy in order this time! Starting of course with the series' pilot, The Ed-Touchables, we begin the podcast once more in a simpler fashion. Help Kevin, Sally and the Eds solve the mystery of the serial toucher!"
**throughout the episode, there are references to early plans for Nagged to Ed also being in this episode; we decide by the end of the episode to not do a double-feature anymore.

**succession spoilers**
interesting to compare the handling of the physicality of death in the most recent succession ep with the handling in buffy’s ‘the body’. ‘the body’ is extremely physical. joyce’s corpse opens and closes each act. buffy is the one who has to perform cpr, and sit with her mother’s body in a bag in her living room. she vomits. she cracks a rib. xander punching a wall, the kiss between willow and tara, the hugs the characters exchange in the hospital--the physicality is constant and arresting. (which makes the closing shot of dawn’s hand never quite touching joyce all the more harrowing).
by contrast, we only barely see logan’s body in ‘connor’s wedding’. the siblings are miles away from him. his body is literally in the air, ungrounded. some stranger is performing cpr, not them. and all they can do is listen and demand ineffectually, through the proxy of tom’s usual gormless editorializing. even at the moment of their father’s death--a moment that the grand physicality of mortal existence might touch them--they are insulated from it. even now, they don’t know the price of milk. even death is a penthouse in the sky above the city rabble. even during this most serious of events they can’t quite be what logan might think of as ‘serious people.’ (and even now, of course, it’s hard not to see that distance as mostly logan’s own doing. even now, when death has caught up to him, logan isn’t any more touchable. but in a far different way than dawn with joyce. ‘that’s dad’, says roman, pointing at a chart on a screen.).
nothing is physical except--and here seems to be the glimmering thread of hope throughout the series--in the relationships between the siblings. the various hugs between them, especially the last one between kendall, roman, and shiv. kendall and shiv holding hands. kendall touching roman’s back, roman touching shiv’s. this is one of the only places the physical exists in their lives, and in this episode they express it towards each other more easily, with less irony or pretense, than i think they’ve done at any point so far in the show.
i don’t know what the show will do with that glimmer. whether it will remain tragically nothing more than that, or bittersweetly become more, while still not being enough. or any number of other things. i think the season might be taking the idea of ‘the real’ to a head, after its many depictions of frustrated attempts to access it. (or perhaps i just think that because the concept of ‘the real’ was equally relevant to seasons five and six of buffy, and ‘the body’ was crucial to that subject.) but in terms of how to use mortality in an artistic way, it’s interesting to see two different approaches that are both effective. you can evoke the physical, and ideas associated with it, equally well by leaning into it or leaning away from it.

hope I'm not late for the ship meme, may I suggest 12/simm 👀
You're absolutely not too late, this unironically helps me get around to write my thesis 😅
Who’s the cuddler? Twelve is very embrace averse in the canon, and I think so is Simmy. However, the Master is willing to make sacrifices to annoy the Doctor, so he keeps plopping himself on his lap like it's free real estate. Essentially, Twelve likes his personal space and Simm also likes Twelve's personal space 🙃
Who makes the bed? The Master is a bit pedantic in this area, but after he made the bed a couple of times Nardole thanked him for sparing him this work, so obviously the Master got very pissed and started going against his bed making instincts. Especially given that Twelve only now found out Nardole has been making the bed all this time rather than it spontaneously rearranging itself against the law of increasing entropy and was very happy the Master would do such a selflessly kind thing. So now the bed is a permanent mess and Bill got popcorn for the daily tense stand offs over it
Who wakes up first? Whenever the Master actually wastes his time on such a trivial activity he gets awoken by Beethoven blasting on a guitar. Needless to say, the TARDIS had to start producing a supply of guitars after each meets its gruesome end in a hydraulic press
Who has the weird taste in music? The Master took up the reverse of the Doctor playing classical music on an electric guitar, so now he's mostly into a string quartet cover of I can't decide and Carmina Burana version of Waterloo
Who is more protective? Twelve is not very happy about it, but still feels obliged to end up with a very pissed wet cat version of Simm fished out of Sea Devils' contraptions
Who sings in the shower? The Master, very loudly and purposefully wasting his actually good voice. Given the TARDIS is not very fond of this regeneration, she takes the opprtunity to turn on only hot or only cold water, which results in the Master singing even louder in definace of blisters and coldbite
Who cries during movies? The Doctor allows himself a few somber tears while watching highbrow gangster dramas that are actually cinematic poems about how an individual with every potential to be a decent person becomes a monster and loses everything, betrayals and broken childhood friendships, but also capactiy for last minute redemption (think The Godfather, Once upon a time in America or Angels with dirty faces). And then ruins everything including Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone soundtracks by commenting on them in a very passionate and grandiloquent way that all the same would fit well a sunday school sermon. The Master can later be found performatively bawling his eyes out at the episode in which teletubbies couldn't make the tubby custard machine work so they sang a special song (lyrics of tubby custard, tubby custard, tubby custard (...) tubby custard) to fix it
Who spends the most while out shopping? They're both absolute absolute disasters shopping, but mostly for cosmetics. Twelve spends hours browsing thorugh hair-floofing products while Simmy needs to scrutinize every beard trimming device and test them on other customers' dogs. The one time they went shopping together each made the other wait with the bags outside and started manipulating the timeflow so the torture can last longer
Who kisses more roughly? Again, Twelve isn't very touchable, so Simmy kisses him Bugs Bunny style whenever he drops his guard for a second
Who is more dominant? Twelve is a bit too tired for that, while Simmy flaunts every triumph like making him carry more bags from the disaster shopping trip or seeing his selection of pizza toppings placed on top of Twelve's
My rating of the ship from 1-10. I really wish we had more of their interactions, because I kind of see them turning every domestic detail into an intense battle of wills. Also, Twelve is just more fun to annoy than self-flagellating Ten. Solid 8 ❤️

The Mystery of Ed, Edd n' Eddy's Prototype Credits
Ed, Edd n' Eddy has always had a decent crop of mysteries. What's under Edd's hat? What the hell is Keenan Christensen doing these days? Can Danny Antonucci's politics be justified over his Canadian roots? But, there is one mystery that is rarely ever discussed, if at all. Ladies and gentlemen, the end credit mystery.
youtube
The show's first season is a peculiar case, beyond it finding its footing. The title cards featured listed credits in the same font as the actual title, but in the first season, they are presented through a basic font. But, what makes it weird is that the latter half of the first season went for conventions to be followed in ensuing seasons. But, one thing that has always been consistent was the closing credits, logos aside. At least, for the most part.
The second batch of episodes were similar, yet different, from the pitch of the closing theme to the alternate font, and no other episode was like it. It also carried over to the title cards in that batch, which were played in a higher pitch.
Now, for a time, Pop Goes the Ed and Over Your Ed were claimed to be the first episodes of Ed, Edd n Eddy, but that's not the case, as The Ed-Touchables and Nagged to Ed were. Ed-Touchables and Nagged had the standard closing credits, and tone for the title cards, and you can kinda see the confusion in the second episodes featuring a rare instance of a tone up and an alternative credit font. Adding onto this, the upload of the alternate credits are claimed to be a prototype, and from 1998. Promos for the show had occurred late into that year so Cartoon Network had access by that point.
Let's go into some theories.
First theory is that Pop Goes the Ed was the actual first episode, not in a literal sense, but in terms of production order. Can you guess what the first episode of Rocko's Modern Life was? Was it No Pain, No Gain? Nope, it was the ninth, Carnival Knowledge. It was the first episode produced. Ergo, it's likely Pop Goes the Ed was the first episode completed. However, it was deemed to not be so, and wrought through a misunderstanding. During the Best Day Edder marathon in 2007, Cartoon Network slated this as the show's first episode, and that carried on to the show's season 1 DVD. However, the only evidence stated to the contrary was that The Ed-Touchables was aired first.
Refer back to production order on that, but the production codes may dispel that theory somewhat.
Second theory was that the episodes were switched. Pop Goes the Ed was in production first, but somewhere along the lines the writers deemed Ed-Touchables to be a better introduction to the series and switched the episodes, Ed-Touchables being listed first because it was completed entirely before Pop Goes the Ed.
A third theory would suggest that the writers were unsure about sticking with what they had. What I mean by that is that maybe they decided to pitch up the episode themes and closing theme, and change up the credit font, changing it back when they felt what they had first was the best. Okay maybe.
But then there's my personal theory. Pop Goes the Ed was an early test pilot completed in 1998, a mentioned year for the end credits. The Ed-Touchables was the first episode aired, but there is a possibility Pop Goes the Ed initially existed as an early pilot, and it was put into the series proper later on once the characters were properly introduced, to wit, Ed-Touchables introducing the main characters and its B-segment introducing the Kankers.
Referring back to Rocko's Modern Life, we have a similar situation with the episode Trash-o-Madness, where it was the pilot of that series, but was held over into the B-segment of episode six. There may be a similar situation here. Pop Goes the Ed was made earlier on, but technically wasn't the first episode as we can see. As for why the tones are different, chances are Pop Goes the Ed was the only segment to have that, and the credits and B-segment were tweaked to match for consistency.
But then there's the matter of Lee, Marie and May getting credited, and they weren't in Pop Goes the Ed. With that in mind it's likely Over Your Ed was also an early episode produced, but Nagged to Ed was completed first in order to properly introduce them.
But that's my theory, the case is open to anyone who has an idea.

Not only is Cas + Dean + honey unfluffy, it can be downright angsty. I think that Dean, like fandom, could latch onto this one known interest Cas has, and while he'd hate being reminded of Honey Cas he'd totally try to "bribe" Cas with bee-related gifts. Dean is always interested in things that make Cas more reachable, touchable, and human. Cas, who may not even remember what happened when he was dealing with Sam's Hell memories, could easily think Dean is just taking him to a beeswax candle store because Dean likes doing human things together. It would be deliciously hurtful and unsustainable--maybe one day Dean thinks Cas is watching a bee (in fact, Cas is thinking about Dean's eye crinkles) and freaks out and after the yelling and stomping is over, they start to figure things out, but it takes a while.
I don't want to tell you not to have fun with this concept if you want.
But if you're asking for my opinion I'm going to give it, because, again, I want to keep the anti-bee discourse going. And I have to say that I disagree with you.
A large part of my objection to the bee trope is not just that it's bad characterization for Cas, but that it's also incredibly out of character for Dean to play a part in it.
Like it's not just a question of being reminded of how Cas was at that time. I think the end of s7 was such a negative experience that Dean would outright reject conceptualizing honey-Cas as a component part of Cas at all.
I could go on about "Nobody cares that you're broken, Cas, now clean up your mess". There's layers to that line (including guilt and projection on Dean's part, but also just plain anger and frustration) but this is not the post to get into that. Right now, I'm just raising it because that is the sentiment people unintentionally call back to every time they use the bee trope. That is how Dean felt about honey-Cas. So no, I don't think it's at all believable that Dean would do anything that invokes Cas' behaviour from those episodes.
(And yes, there was the "I'd rather have you" speech and Dean starting to be willing to take Cas as he is. But almost immediately after that, Dean and Cas get sucked into Purgatory and separated, so Dean never has to follow through. When he meets Cas again, Cas is "better" and Dean gets to make a clean break with honey-Cas and leave it in the past. Which he does.)
I agree that Dean is interested in bringing Cas down-to-earth, but whenever he does, it's on his terms. Dean shows Cas his own favourite movies, he makes him a mix-tape of his own favourite songs, he invites him to hang out at diners that he likes, he encourages behaviour (like flirting with waitresses) that Dean considers fundamental to his own specific experience. For Dean, making Cas human means making him relatable to his own life. It's something that I really enjoy because on the one hand, there's a kind of narrowness to it, Dean doesn't really have a curiosity about the kind of semi-human that Cas could become on his own terms. On the other hand, it's Dean sharing pieces of himself with Cas. It's Dean making Cas more his own, in a way. (also, as we know from the mix-tape, Dean is not generally in the habit of giving gifts to Cas. The mix-tape is an exception.)
That all being said, I would be glad if I started seeing the bee trope being used as a source of angst instead of as some fluffy thing. (but I'd be even happier if it was excised from the fandom entirely)

I have been following a fanmade show on Patron call ‘’Peach Creek’’ by George Abingdon with of course is an Ed, Edd n Eddy webshow a direct sequel to EEnE Big Picture Show setting in final years in High School. And there is something I like about the episode THE RUG PULL things like background, character designs, animation, sound effect form show and more. I do also like the grain texture images that feels very vinage-like roughness that reminds of original cel-like art style.
Also there are some reference and homage to the previous episodes from Season 1-6 and the film.
e.g. -It start with Double D's room at beginning of this episode just like the first Season 1 episode ‘’The Ed-Touchables’’
-We also see a short second clip of the Abandoned House in background from Season 2 ‘’Honor Thy Ed’’
The character interaction throughout has been very respectful so far like Ed of course how still is a lovable goofball. I really like how you added references to the original show. I also like how you borrowed elements from the original show & crafted it into a unique future version of Ed. Ed telling a story while forgetting things & making mistakes was perfectly done! Eddy being annoyed at Ed & calling him a "Moron" was also a perfect touch. Ed talking about Johnny was also really well done. Double D breaking the 4th wall with Eddy was perfectly done too. The intelligence continues to shine through with Double D. Johnny having changes in his life without Plank was very saddening to hear too. I also like how Eddy calls Ed "Lumpy" - All of this is just paying homage to Ed Edd n Eddy ever so well.
I can on and on about first Episode, but for some weird reason it give me also a feeling of inspiration inside my heart since I also do a EEnE project to that hopefully will become a reality.

HI IM A BIG FAN OF YOUR GOJOU READER SERIES
can i ask tho why dazai is able to neutralise their ability if the infinity is up? i dont know if it makes sense maybe im dumb😭 i dont know the boundaries of dazais ability, like does he have to touch the person? if so if the infinity is up then hes not actually touching the reader right? sorry if this is annoying aaa
hii anon !! also no no no >:( don't apologize, oki? it is not annoying and it's not wrong to ask
ok but the thing about dazai being able to nullify gojo! reader's infinity is because it is part or type of reader's limitless ability.
based on my research as well, any ability that touches dazai still gets nullified so it doesn't have to be physical contact via skin, and you can actually see this from bsd season 1 episode 7 or in azure messenger arc wherein dazai nullified the unnamed blonde guy's number ability with him was stepping on it since it was activated on the floor and with that, dazai was not actually touching the guy via skin contact
now it could be possible for dazai not to cancel gojo! reader's infinity, but i just find it more interesting for a reader who's big on the whole "honored one and being the strongest" ego as gojo satoru of finally finding her match—which is dazai who can turn someone untouchable and unmatched into someone touchable :)
i did make it possible for dazai not to nullify limitless void but i set it with the condition that gojo! reader is not using it on him. like, gojo! reader can bring dazai to the void or supposedly domain expansion in the jjk canon world, but as soon as the ability is used on dazai and not on a different target, it gets cancelled out :P
also, the six eyes of gojo! reader is something that dazai can't nullify since it isn't a cursed technique anyway in the jjk canon world.
this is also to balance dazai's ability being able to nullify limitless and infinity, and make gojo! reader not too overpowered and fit more into the bsd world since the bsd world has no cursed techniques and such, but abilities. if gojo! reader were to have limitless and six eyes both as two abilities, it would be too much—at least for me.
i hope this suffices !! thank you, and do check out gojo! reader's character profile for more information if you're interested anon dear <3

Justice in the Dark, more on ep 2 since I can't shut the fuck up apparently even tho I just wrote a whole essay ToT
I get why the casting is who it is. In retrospect. In sitting here now lmao. Like I said I like who they cast performance wise they're doing perfect. But looks wise not all match exactly what was in my head. (Tao Ran does perfectly utterly in every way though lol). I think Fei Du was cast cause he looks a lot like fandom drawings of fei du. Not my personal image of him (my personal image of him is like slightly to the left of his most usual drawn look). But I can see a casting director thinking "yeah he'll look so much like the audio drama art and fanart etc" (also any skin smoothing just further highlights that). And Luo? Parts are clearly from the book, parts are from Zhao Yunlan (I imagine they wanted a specific kind of appeal you see in certain lead actors which he's also got here), and then i in reflection like how he looks "less intense" than fei du.
1 because fei du looks like he needs a home-cooked meal and Luo looks like he can cook it (which goes a lot more into their both romance dynamics and bigger dynamic of Luo being Feis path to healing, life, warmth, growth, him looking visually more soft and touchable and healthy and in touch with a realistic world all add to him being that For Fei Du).
2 Luo looks a bit older, just actor has quite distinct eyes (they could be similar age actors idk) and Luo seems Iike the increased stubble is more a present thing (with no facial hair in past scenes) so I think there's some choices there with age trying to be a noticeable trait. Versus Fei Du where he feels Iike a rich fantastical cold masked character out of an anime or out of Flower of Evil (he Screams protagonist from Flower of Evil energy but with even less convincing "ordinary approachable guy" ability to act, actually I think in general Flower of Evil fans and Beyond Evil fans would probably really like Fei Du). If costuming and makeup love me, over time fei dus visuals in the show may look less almost unreal and become more "looks like a random person you'd walk past" Iike Luo and Tao. As he opens up more and Luo becomes a part of his life more. So like... I get the choices on who to cast and why someone thought they'd look the part. Luo also we are seeing from Fei Dus pov (like most of the show), and Luos often snippy and ordery and it's in a way funny we see him as plain when Fei du does. In the scenes emotionally charged between them, I think Luos actor is shot quite handsomely, who's to say if that'll also be a trend of him looking more Model esque when Fei Du is emotionally open around him. (I also now that I'm settling into this show, appreciate that Luo looks like a plain everyday man sometimes. He's got model looks when the lighting flatters him. But also it not purposely played up constantly reminds me of the book - fei du in the show visually is constantly Model esque, in the book he's constantly dressed up and has peach blossom eyes and it's part of the Performance, and these visual drama choices echo that Feeling of the characters).
For the people like Me who prefer (or even need) action in their romance, im happy to report this is indeed a Flower of Evil situation! Lots of dollops of murder mystery, romance, and action! A nice little car chase was in episode 1 to set that expectation. I personally love me a good action scene, and the car scene looked significantly better than my (very low) expectations (Till Death Tear Us Apart cdrama looked decent to me though so temper yourself). Just wanted to happily report thank goodness there's murder and action in this.
Luo is handsome. (Don't trust my rants dissing on him lol) Like the scene of Fei Du as a child? I totally get why he's Captain Luo, why he's the guy who "wanted to save the whole universe." Why that day when he saw Fei Du absolutely destroyed, scared, he wanted to do anything to help him. And why he kept helping him for years after and still keeps track of him now. This is the "superhero" Luo that his team at their fondest see him as, that Tao sees him as at his best, that Fei Du saw him as when he was a child until Luo failed him (the whole world did) and Fei as a child blamed Luo for all of it to cope with the hopelessness he felt.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just. This entire scene. I really felt that awful hopelessness. Luo Wenzhou realizing its hard to save even just one person, the looming threat he will soon try and fail to protect Fei Du and fail and fail and it will haunt him and cling on and he'll try so hard to Keep Trying as hard as it is and as much as Fei Du pushes him away and how awful it feels to Keep failing fei du. Fei Du looking at him for help, the only hand he can reach out to for it, and the realization that even this man who's like a superhero to him and an angel... can't. That no force in this world can fix this.

THE BOOPS ARE BACK!!! OwO!!!
I was too busy watching and discussing Agatha all Along with my wife, when did the boops drop!?!?!
:x agatha thoughts and spoilers under cut
I throughly enjoyed AAA so much and like having it drop weekly was super fun!
I don’t dislike the ending, but it does feel slightly off. My wife and i just spent the last hour after watching the episode rewatching a couple of clips and ultimately as much as I want more rio agatha back story (it seems like they were an item before Nicky) i want agatha darkhold back story
In the flash back with Nicky it looks like agatha has a book she is always reading (darkhold? It doesn’t look like it if it is)
Agatha is power and knowledge hungry/ obsessed, so is it that she didn’t use darkhold to bring him back? Is her guilt around his death that she kept studying magic and perusing power and didn’t fight for him? Or risk giving up power to bring him back?
“Why do you let them believe that lie”
“Because the truth is too awful”
She didn’t cause his death, or trade his life for power, so what nessceserly makes this truth awful?
Unless there is a season two and it turns out she traded a chance to bring him back for power I don’t quite understand this exchange.
Like is agatha time line:
> agatha born > agatha powers manafest as life force stealing and is shunned by mother and coven > agatha powers mean she sees death often and she and rio meet/fall in love > agatha is thrown out of coven or kills coven at this point?* > Agatha thristly for power and knowledge keeps killing witches and taking their books > makes nicky with rio from scratch> spell went wrong and nicky should die but death gives her time > nicky dies> agatha gets ahold of dark hold> mother coven can want to kept her from obtaining darkhold and attempt to bind her and she kills them here * or this event happened pre nicky.
In episode one of aaa rio says now that the darkhold is gone she is touchable (and then makes her bleed a little bit🩸 🤤)
What is the Agatha x rio x darkhold backstory? And is nicky’s soul involved with that at all?
Anyway….::rewatches rio x agatha kiss of death over and over again::

Sengoku A Live ~Translation~
Main Chapter Season 1
- Chapter 1 episode 2 -
Tumblr media
A Fateful Encounter
Tumblr media
Those two drew their sword and glared at each other
[Masamune/Nobunaga]"......"
[You]"(it's just a fake isn't it?)"
But either way, swinging around in such a narrow space can be dangerous. I have to stop it...!
[Oda Nobunaga]"Here I come"
[Date Masamune]"Go ahead!"
[You]"um"
[Takeda Shingen?]"Wait a moment"
[You]"!"
[Masamune/Nobunaga]"---!"
Something black was quickly inserted between the two of them, stopping them.
*[Hattori Hanzo]"The winner....."
The owner took a step forward and calmly looked at the two who had drawn their bodies.
[Takeda Shingen?]"Sink your fighting spirit. I haven't introduce myself yet."
[Masamune/Nobunaga]"..."
Wow, this person..... I feel a heavy pressure on him.
[Takeda Shingen?] In the foreground is Takeda.
Tumblr media
[Date Masamune]"What? Shingen Takeda this time?"
[Takeda Shingen]"Oh, so you recognized the Shingen name"
*[Takeda Shingen]"Yes, In the foreground is Takeda Shingen, rules over Kai."
[Mitsunari Ishida]"Takeda Shingen........ Oda Nobunaga. By Tensho 18, he should have already passed away."
[Mitsunari Ishida]"were our ancestors who were thought to have died, actually still alive?"
[Takeda Shingen]"The 18th year of Tensho?"
[Oda Nobunaga]"..."
[Mitsunari Ishida]"Well, even if he were still alive, she'd be too young, right? Maybe he was a vengeful spirit or something."
[Hattori Hanzo]"ehh....."
[Fuuma Kotaro]"....let me touch it for a second"
[Takeda Shingen]"sure..."
The (self-proclaimed) Fuuma Kotaro poked the arm of the (self-proclaimed) Takeda Shingen.
[Fuuma Kotaro]".... Touchable"
[Hattori Hanzo]"Good~. So it's not a vengeful spirit."
[Date Masamune]"well, anyway"
As he spoke, he swung his sword downwards to sheath it--
Zash!
And Yocchan jacket, which was hanging on a chair, was slashed.
[Date Masamune]"Ah, sorry it's a bit narrow here."
It was.......cut.....?
It was cut!?
[You]"Eh,Wait that is a real sword!?"
[Date Masamune]"Huh? Of course. My sword is made by the best swordsmith in Oshu."
[You]"PLEASE PUT THAT SWORD AWAY NOW!!"
[Date Masamune]"Your voice too loud.... I'll put it away."
Watching a real japanese sword being placed into its sheath sends a chill down my spine.
[You]"I don't think this is the case, but what names did you guys tell us...is real?"
[Takeda Shingen]"I'm proud of the Takeda name. I won't lie"
If the sword and the name are really real...
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"Time slip"
[You]"!"
[Mitsunari Ishida]" What is time slip?"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I've transcended time and space. Ah, I've come to a different Era."
[Hattori Hanzo]"Different Era?"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"Simply put, this is the distant future for you guys."
[Oda Nobunaga]"Future........"
Impossible......but
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"......."
Yocchan, are you serious...
[Mitsunari Ishida]"...I see. That's why I'm meeting my predecessor, who was supposed to be dead.....?"
[Takeda Shingen]"But is such a thing possible?"
[Fuuma Kotaro]"..... I've heard of it."
[Date Masamune]"But it seems to make more sense than saying it's all illusions... I mean , it's not that easy to believe."
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"Now that we have a rough idea of the situation, can we get back to the topic?"
[You]"The situation is becoming clearer......?
I can't help but feel like things are becoming more and more confused.
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"What the matters to me is not who these people are"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"it's right in front of me right now."
*[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I will say it again"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]" Let's take over the world with our songs."
[Oda Nobunaga]"I will not accept your instructions"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"What about everyone else?"
[Hattori Hanzo]"For some reason, I can't fully comprehend the situation... But anyway, why are we singing?"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I'm glad you asked I run a music agency here."
*[Mitsunari Ishida]"What is an office?"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"Ah... That's it. Like I say earlier, it's my castle"
[Date Masamune]"Your castle is quiet weak. It looks like you're far away conquering the world"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"The world is made up of words. In this day and age, songs have that much power."
For Yocchan, it's true
I knew how much he loved music
[Mitsunari Ishida]"Songs, have the same power as the world"
[Date Masamune]"I don't want people to suddenly say that I have the power of singing. Well, to be honest, it's seems interesting."
[Hattori Hanzo]"We probably don't have time for that right now,.... right?"
[Fuuma Kotaro]".........ahh."
[Takeda Shingen]"In the first place, I have no interest in the world, let alone in singing"
[Takeda Shingen]"Instead of trying to accomplish anything in this Era, we must urgently return to the Era in which we lived"
[Oda Nobunaga]"We have just conquered Owari, and now you want me to sing"
[Oda Nobunaga]"There's no point in joking around"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I'm not kidding"
[Oda Nobunaga]"......"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I was extremely attracted to you"
[Yoshiaki Ashikaga]"I'm sure you're what I need right now"
[Shingen/Mitsunari]"......"
[Hanzo/Kotaro]"....."
[Masamune/Nobunaga]"......"
Yocchan.......
To Be Continued.....

Honestly, the rules of what’s touchable vs what can be felt and how and why is sooooo blurry. George in the tumblr time video lists ghost rules and the second one is that they’re intangible, can’t be touched.
But other characters touch them all the time! Is it something they can choose?
Edwin says he “chooses not to fall through the floor”, but interacting with the environment around them is very different from someone touching them. If they’re intangible by default, how do other people touch them without warning without going through them?
Tumblr media
How quickly can they switch between the two states? If you throw something at them, something not iron obviously, does it go through them? Do they decide whether it goes through, or if they want to catch it?
We actually never see an example of something being truly thrown at them, surprisingly enough.
Can ghosts touch by default since they’re both ghosts? And how can we tell if they can feel each other? Or other supernatural creatures?
I think there’s a couple good indicators of it being possible, whether they were put there intentionally or not.
If we’re considering what Edwin says about being able to touch, but not feel things to be accurate, all touch should have no effect on them. Imagine someone touching your arm after putting numbing cream on it. You can see it touching you, but you can’t feel it. If you weren’t looking, you wouldn’t know. That’s what it should be like for them, but we see that this is definitely not the case.
They “practice” boxing in the first episode, and Charles tells Edwin to hit lot harder next time. If Charles is unable to feel his touch, how would he be able to tell how hard Edwin is hitting?
Tumblr media
The skeleton at the Dandelion Shrine grabs Edwin’s foot, and he looks down. If he couldn’t feel it, he wouldn’t have noticed it grabbing him.
Tumblr media
Edwin touches Charles’ back on the cliff without warning, and Charles clearly felt it in some way because he shrugs him off.
Tumblr media
So, this is all to say, we have no idea what the rules are, so fanfics have no limits lmfao
(ko-fi)
Is it canon that ghosts can feel each other or is that something we just decided for fanfiction purposes?

hi! any thoughts about thirteen/dhawan!master for the ask meme? ❤️
Thank you very much for the ship and this is also for @veraynes-blog who asked for them too!
Who’s the cuddler? Huh, good question, I don't think either is very touchable on regular basis... But if you got them drunk to the point of honesty or put them to sleep together, I'd say Thirteen
Who makes the bed? Well, the Master has spent a few decades intermingling with humans, sometimes posing in the military, but the Doctor spent her sweet time in space prison, both circumstances that would train some self-discipline... But I also think if they were on their terms neither would be exactly keen on that, so probably the dubious honour falls onto Yaz 🙃
Who wakes up first? Thirteen strikes me as a heavy sleeper, so probably the Master this time 'round
Who has the weird taste in music? The Master might appear as the obvious option thanks to dancing to Rasputin in front of second-hand embarrassed Cybermen and Daleks, but I think this piece is objectively a banger, so there's nothing weird about the taste itself. On the other hand, the short story in I am the Master collection puts him in USSR during the cold war, and I can see him developing a soft spot for all those lovely songs about people loving their beloved leader and singing how great their beloved leader is, and how happy they are to follow their beloved leader, etc etc
Who is more protective? I don't think "protective" is the best word for either of them... they're both very defensive about themselves and that sometimes floods onto other entities, more so for the Doctor, though not necessarily in the Master's direction
Who sings in the shower? Again, heartwarming songs about people being happy to erect a new statue for their beloved leader tends to flow out when the Master's taking a shower
Who cries during movies? Both, though not exactly movies as tv series. Thirteen cries like a baby during cheap norwegian lesbian melodramas (all the rage around 2070s) while Spymaster gets deeply moved by thousands episodes long soaps where it turns out someone married their parent, but the next season reveals this was not so, but yet next states that yes, it was so, and in the meantime the character died in a shark accident but not really
Who spends the most while out shopping? Spymaster, absolutely. He actually needs to present and, again, 70 years of human fashion can't just go unexplored. He tried taking Thirteen shopping once and Gucci boutique cashiers still need a therapy
Who kisses more roughly? They're both very rough and desperate, provided enough alcohol to get them honest was provided
Who is more dominant? I think the Master has always had some traces of authoritarian personality, so after the TTC revelation he'd want to go very submissive to the Doctor, but seeing as the message she got had less to do with natural right to universal domination over all of time and more with human dellusions of belonging and identity determined by biological parenthood, he got very frustrated, so they're stuck in the kind of conflict that very loud chihuahuas engage in over the fence and neither exactly dominates, one just gets carried inside before the other
My rating of the ship from 1-10. Writing alone would keep them at a weak 4, but actors make it a solid 7 👍

when i think about you i touch myself
by ebony666
Ed generally doesn’t make a habit of feeling up feverish, near gutted men, and he especially doesn’t make a habit of touching men who are too unconscious to touch him back. He knows this isn’t something he should be doing.
But the knowing is abstract, swirling oil black in water. The touching is intimate, and real, and when Ed slips his palms over Stede’s shoulders, sliding them until his fingertips settle in the dips of Stede’s ribs, he marvels at how right it feels. How good, how correct. The idea of wrong is at the bottom of the fucking

Six Eared Shadow
Do you remember the analysis about Mei and Red Son? That was me, and I'm doing this again, but now about Macaque and Sun Wukong
Because what the heck why do they hate each other so much
Tumblr media
Ok, so this... This is such a messy chaotic really chaotic mix of a few headcanons and theories I made up and it SOMEHOW turned into a fanfic that I wrote so long that other people made many similar things in meanwhile and now this sounds not original at all, but I wrote it not to keep it in my deep hidden shelf so here we go
(It's based on what I know from the lmk series. I've started to read JTTW, but I'm still not so far to get to know anything about Macaque, but I won't change anything about this theory from now on)
Let's gather some basic information for the start.
-> Macaque is made with a shadow or even he is a shadow (kinda shadow demon, the demon of shadow). I mean, shadow is not only his power, he literally is made with shadow matter. We know that because he can not only manipulate shadows but also go through walls and turn yourself into a shadow.
Tumblr media
-> I'm not sure if someone made him or he just "poof" out of nowhere just like Sun Wukong, but according to the story he told about how close he and Monkey King used to be, there's no doubt they had some master/student relationship which later turned into almost equal partnership. What is said, Macaque followed Sun Wukong for a long time, learning a lot from him, 'being his shadow'. They grew in power together, fought together, and (as it is said) Macaque started casting as Sun Wukong shadow, which (surprisingly) looks like he did willingly. Just look at the picture - the shadow is big and bright, it’s powerful and smiling, proud of his strength. He doesn’t look like someone forced to be Sun Wukong’s shadow. It shows how much Macaque admired Monkey King, that he wasn't just a friend for him, he was his idol.
Tumblr media
-> We all know Macaque is a shadow demon, he can easily change his appearance, he does not have to look like an evil clone of Monkey King, especially if he hates him now or something, SO even if he used to look up at Sun as his ex-student or ex-partner, and now we know he is NOT, he would prefer to not look so similar any more.
He can choose any other look, but he doesn't. Why? Well, maybe he actually cannot. Maybe this isn't an appearance he has specifically chosen, maybe this is his 'basic' comfy form and any other form would just take too much energy to keep up. And looking at the really tiny probability of two very similar monkeys just "poofing" out of nowhere, I dare to say, Macaque wasn't born (I mean like Sun Wukong or any other demon), but he was specifically created. And here is a question: on someone's purpose or not? Maybe the power of great Monkey King was so strong so the part of it just jumped from him and formed into another similar creature, but let me say it's just weird and I prefer the theory of Sun Wukong being so bored and lonely after his master's (Tripitaka) death, and he created a brother for himself from his own shadow. Just to have someone, anyone.
So Wukong created Macaque and then what? He trained him, he taught him everything he knew, maybe even he shared his powers with him. Some great great bonding time. But as Macaque said, something drew them apart. It is visible that Macaque blamed Monkey King for this, for 'forgetting him'. Before speculation of what happened then between them, let's focus on what Macaque showed us what he wants now.
We have two episodes, both show different sides of him. In season 1, Macaque's main goal is to steal Monkey King's power from Mk, and then to very specifically revenge. He visibly does not want to defeat Sun Wukong, he wants to hurt him as much as possible. Look: when Monkey King showed up, Macaque totally forgot about Mk. And then, when he's so close to defeat him, instead of that he turned to Mk and tried to kill the teenager. Mk is just a tool to hurt Sun Wukong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And we can't forget how Macaque constantly pointed out all the weak sides of Sun, he's basically just saying on and on "you're weak, you're weak, you're so weak, I'm so strong, I'm strong, you are so weak". Which really fits the feeling of being forgotten because he was weaker and Monkey King was stronger, better, glorious and famous. Macaque really feels like that, he really tried to make Sun Wukong feel his pain by dominating him.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, we see that Sun constantly striked off him. He said almost nothing to him, just "Aren't you bored of keep being in my shadow? It's time to give back what you've stolen" and that was fricking all. For Monkey King, Macaque is a just shadow, always behind him, something you turn around and leave behind to not see it and to forget, like an unwanted past. An unnecessary problem, that irritatingly keeps returning to him. He does not want to interact to not make even a slight more bond between them, he wants to delete him from his life forever, and omg WHY. At this end of the ep, Sun Wukong did not even mention Macaque. He really doesn't care at all (or extremely tries to not care). His HATE is almost touchable, ouch.
In season 2, Sun Wukong LEFT US ALL ALONE. Macaque showed up again, he played with Mk a bit, and... Left? That's the thing, you see, he doesn't need to hurt or kill Mk. All we see is Macaque talking about his past and then letting Mk experience something the 'hero' in the story should have felt. The guilt. When Mk interpreted his story differently, seeing himself as the warrior, Macaque corrected him. Cause he doesn't care about Mk at all. He heard how Mk told him about what hurt him, and here is a funny point, because if Macaque needs to be understood, listening to Mk and talking with him (such a simple act of empathy, they both needed it then, guh) should have been enough. Mk really felt the 'warrior' character in the story, so he understood what Macaque felt. But surprisingly, that was not what the demon carved.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macaque chose to make Mk feel like Monkey King at the moment something drew the demons apart. He wanted to force Mk to be sorry, to apologize, to regret his mistakes, cause he failed with forcing Monkey King to feel that. But! Maybe he is not as purely innocent and poorly forlorn. We see the flashback for a half of second before Mk hit him with Staff:
Tumblr media
We see Sun Wukong attacking Macaque who's in his demon (true) form.
Let's repeat this: Macaque felt as if a friend left him in the past. He said a friend did this to have all the "hero's glory" for themselves. We know Sun Wukong could do such a thing, especially before he met Tripitaka, but 1. In my theory Macaque is created after Tripitaka's death and 2. If (as my theory said) Sun created Macaque to not feel so lonely, he would never leave him for such a thing. So Macaque hides something for sure, something he did, something so terrible that made Sun Wukong attack him and not want to know him anymore. How horrendous thing Macaque did that made Sun Wukong choose to be alone again and to forget his dear brother he created by himself?
Back to the great bonding time, repeating speculation of "oh maybe they even share the powers" and comparing it to Macaque wanting to steal Mk's power, my theory here is saying:
Sun Wukong taught Macaque the technique of the same powers as he knew, but Macaque overused it (probably wanting to see how powerful he is, probably showing off and killing so many harmless people) doing terrible terrible things. So Monkey King took all of the powers from him and left him alone, powerless, with the last painful words: "Dont you dare to show in front of my eyes ever again". Of course Macaque was hurt, of course he didn't see why he's the bad guy, because he did not care about people at all. And of course Sun Wukong was hurt too.
Maybe he came back to the village Macaque had destroyed and following a quiet crying he found a little baby with a heart so clear and he put into him all Macaque's powers, making them sleep until the time will be right... But back to the series!
Tumblr media
Yes exactly. Why did he destroy the lantern and leave? Why did he suddenly lose interest in teasing Mk and stop forcing him to feel guilty?
First thing, he saw Mk is ready to fight for his friends seriously. He still cared so much about them, not like Monkey King about Macaque. That was hard to swallow, that was hard to watch for the demon. That was't the thing he wanted to see. And second, the flashback. Maybe the sudden realization that he actually did something bad. Cause Sun Wukong didn’t just leave him, he cast him out. It was hard to admit that he actually deserved this (or maybe much more), it’s much easier to blame others, not yourself. So Macaque felt “that’s enough” and left. Mk brought him to this uncomfortable point of admitting the truth. Which he didn’t want to. Maybe in the following eps, he will see it, but now Macaque just isn’t ready yet. But the last talk with Mk gives me a little hope. He stopped treating him like a tool or toy, he was actually talking with him like with a person, he even warned him about Lady Bone Demon.
Maybe (maybe) one day he'll see that humans aren't just useless creatures he can carelessly kill, maybe Mk will make him care and realize what he's done, but that's just speculation in speculation, he could die before he reaches that point, maybe he is already dead....
And that's it. That is all I wrote on ao3, but in the fanfic I put much more details and I build those characters up much more than here. This is only rough rough short-saying, I'm really sorry if you read it all
Oh and here is a link if you liked this above i'd love if you read the fanfic thank you
