I go to mass every Sunday now, and I always have to mentally prepare for what is going to be the most insane hour of emotional turmoil - feeling tears of joy run down my cheeks when the choir reminds me just how sublime and ethereal human art can be - looking at people in utter disbelief when they start saying God brings peace when tempest strikes and I wonder if we live in the same world and how deep in theology I should dig to actually find any of these 'human self-agency' arguments acceptable - feeling my blood boil in rage when people happily chant about their submission and beg to not be forsaken by their God - experiencing fear when they say 'life everlasting' and 'world without end' - feeling disgust when the King is mentioned and people start apologising for existing - pondering over the Bible while people pray in silence and thinking that rhetorically it holds many similarities with great epics and Irish mythology and what if the Fiana was our role model - observing people's smiles as they pray with their eyes closed and finding it an agreeable sight despite my 3rd République convictions - delighting in the rhymes of the Common Book of Prayer and internally rebelling over most of what it says - back to tears because the organ, choir and candles create an ensemble that I can only define as belonging to the category of Kantian Sublime and I suppose it is a good kind of language for those of us fierce atheists who think the divine is secular -

If I see one more person say “You call OCD a disorder, I call it a blessing.” I’m gonna absolutely lose my shit. AHHH!!! OCD does not mean you enjoy cleaning. I feel like this should be common information by now.

We have OCD and even in mental health settings when we bring up the fact that we have it, there will still be a person that says something like “I have OCD too! I love cleaning.” If your OCD did revolve around cleaning, it could be several different things like, 1. Obsessing over intrusive thoughts leading to “If I don’t clean this item right now, _ is going to happen.” or something like 2. Obsessing over intrusive thoughts of contamination, leading to repetitive cleaning.

There is a huge difference between enjoying cleaning and having OCD in which you have compulsions revolving around cleaning. We actually really enjoy cleaning in general, and we have a separate type of OCD that doesn’t even include cleaning as a compulsion. We personally experience intrusive thoughts about our morals, leading to repetitive hand movements as our compulsion to try and “get the thoughts away” Our main points are: You can have OCD and generally be a happy person. Doesn’t mean OCD is a “fun” disorder to have or that you enjoy it. + Enjoying cleaning ≠ having OCD. Having OCD with compulsions around cleaning ≠ the aftermath of a clean room where you feel complete afterwards.

The entire point of the disorder is that it FEEDS off of your compulsions. It’s a constant loop of intrusive thoughts -> obsessing over the thoughts -> compulsions. And it circles back around repetitively. The disorder doesn’t let you feel complete when you are following the pattern of its cycle. OCD can be an absolute hell for a person who has it. Doesn’t mean that people can’t work on it through therapy, but it does mean that it isn’t “fun” to have. OCD is not a blessing, it is a disorder a LOT of people suffer with daily.

since my savings are now significantly smaller than they were a week and a half ago, I guess now's a good enough time as any to start talking about some half-decided plans I have for this upcoming story I've been writing, and perhaps other original stories as well if this goes well.

Being told that I need to do hard things in life, with no further elaboration of what that meant, has always been very distressing for me. Even when I was a tiny kid, I felt everything was so hard, and the future felt exhausting and terrifying
