it was a normal morning. seungmin had woken up to the sound of jisung dramatically singing in the shower, half-dressed and flinging water everywhere like they were in some kind of k-drama opening sequence. he had stepped over piles of jisung’s clothes, debated throwing one of his textbooks at him, and had finally settled at his desk, groaning at the mess around him. it was too early for this.
and yet— knock. knock. knock. the loud, rhythmic knocking echoed through their shared dorm. jisung, now out of the shower, poked his head out from the bathroom, toothbrush still in his mouth. "you expectin' someone?" seungmin stared at him. and then his eyes widened. oh no. he was expecting someone. before he could even get up, the knocking intensified—faster, louder, insistent. jisung pulled his toothbrush out of his mouth and smirked. “that’s a very excited knock.” seungmin scowled. “shut up.” the knocking was immediately followed by a singsong voice. “seungminnnn~ open up!” jisung practically lit up. “oh my god.” he gasped. “is that—” seungmin groaned, pushing past him and heading for the door. and when he opened it— y/n stood there, practically glowing in the morning light, wearing sneakers that looked like they had been through war.
in her hands?
two matcha lattes in takeout cups.
a small bag of pastries.
and another little package tied up neatly with string.
she grinned up at him. “good morning, seungminnie.”
he deadpanned. “never call me that again.”
she giggled and stepped inside, unfazed by his immediate rejection.
seungmin closed the door behind her. “you’re early.”
she hummed. “i like being early.”
“of course you do. isn't that why you were always early to our study sessions at the café?”
jisung, still standing by the bathroom, towel draped over his shoulders, wiggled his eyebrows.
“so this is what you two were doing instead of the café.”
y/n turned to him, brightening. “jisung! good morning.”
seungmin crossed his arms. “don’t entertain him.”
too late.
jisung grinned. “are those for me?”
y/n gasped, clutching the drinks to her chest. “no.”
jisung pouted. “not even the pastries?”
“i brought these for seungmin and me,” y/n stated proudly. “and these—” she wiggled the little package tied with string, “—are homemade treats for star.”
seungmin blinked.
she baked for his dog.
for his dog.
well, star was hers first but you get the point.
“wow,” jisung muttered, shaking his head in amazement. “so this is what love looks like.”
seungmin threw a pillow at him.
“get out.”
jisung dodged with ease, snickering as he padded toward his room. “i’ll leave you two alone. have fun being married.”
seungmin turned to y/n, about to say something—
only to find her already halfway to the couch, scanning the room excitedly.
“where’s star?” she asked, looking around like an impatient kid.
seungmin sighed. “he’s in my room.”
y/n immediately made a beeline for his door.
“y/n, don’t just barge in—”
too late.
she had already swung the door open, stepping inside like she owned the place.
and then— her heart melted. because there, curled up in a nest of blankets on seungmin’s bed, was star.
his golden fur was slightly tousled from sleep, his body curled into himself, peaceful, warm. and when he lifted his head, his dark brown eyes blinking sleepily— y/n felt her entire soul leave her body.
“hi, baby,” she whispered, stepping closer.
star’s ears perked. his nose twitched. he recognized her.
in an instant, his tail thumped against the mattress, his body wiggling with excitement.
y/n squealed. “you remember me!”
seungmin leaned against the doorway, watching as star launched himself off the bed and into her arms. y/n caught him, stumbling slightly as she hugged him tight, her face buried in his fur.
she giggled, pressing soft kisses to his head. “i missed you.”
seungmin rolled his eyes. “it’s been one day.”
y/n ignored him completely, pulling out the treats she had baked.
“look what i made for you, star,” she cooed, untying the package. “i made them with lots of love.”
seungmin snorted. “he’s a dog, not a boyfriend.”
y/n gasped, scandalized. “seungmin, take that back.”
“no.”
she glared. “you’re lucky i brought you a latte.”
“yeah, yeah.” he waved her off. “come on, let’s start the project.”
she pouted but followed him to the table, star happily munching on his treat at her feet.
seungmin slid into the chair across from her, sipping the matcha latte she brought.
(he wasn’t going to admit it, but it tasted really good.)
y/n, on the other hand, was already distracted.
“you know, seungmin,” she mused, sipping her drink. “i think you should get star a cute sweater.”
he raised an eyebrow. “a sweater?”
“yes.” she nodded firmly. “something classy. maybe a turtleneck.”
jisung, from the hallway, “a dog in a turtleneck??”
y/n gasped. “oh my god. yes.”
seungmin groaned. “you’re insane.”
she just grinned. “and you love it.”
seungmin opened his mouth to argue— only to close it again.
because, for some reason, watching her sit there, smiling so brightly, sipping her matcha like she owned the world—
he couldn’t bring himself to disagree. maybe he did love it.
maybe… he was starting to love a lot of things about her. and that thought? was a little terrifying. but still, a little exciting.
so, when thirty minutes into their so-called project work, seungmin had come to a harsh, undeniable conclusion: this was not a study session.
it was a y/n-admires-star-and-gets-distracted-every-five-seconds session. and it was infuriating.
"y/n," seungmin sighed, dragging a hand down his face, "focus."
"i am focused," she argued, still not looking at him.
seungmin followed her gaze—
she was star-ing at star. again. [see what i did there?]
the golden retriever was curled up beside her chair, sleeping peacefully, his chest rising and falling in a slow, steady rhythm. and y/n? she had completely zoned out mid-sentence, her cheek resting against her hand, eyes soft as she watched star’s ears twitch in his sleep.
seungmin clicked his tongue. "what exactly are you focused on?"
she blinked, barely registering his words. "him."
jisung, from the kitchen, snorted.
"are you serious right now?" seungmin groaned.
y/n hummed. "mhm."
seungmin leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "i knew this was a bad idea. we should’ve just gone to the café."
y/n finally tore her gaze away from star to look at him, gasping in fake offense. "excuse me?"
"you heard me," seungmin deadpanned.
she scoffed. "first of all, rude. second, blasphemy. third, i brought you a matcha latte, and this is how you repay me?"
jisung cackled. "she's got a point."
"shut up, squirrel-face."
y/n pouted dramatically, sinking into her chair. "you don’t appreciate anything. i bet star appreciates me more than you do."
seungmin exhaled sharply. "he's a dog."
she gasped. "and? that just means he has purer judgment."
seungmin narrowed his eyes. "so what you’re saying is that my dog likes you more than me?"
y/n grinned. "oh, absolutely."
jisung smirked. "can’t argue with that one."
seungmin threw his pen at him.
"okay," seungmin sighed, rubbing his temples. "since you're so focused on star, tell me—what exactly is so fascinating about him?"
y/n lit up. oh no. this was a mistake.
she leaned forward, clasping her hands together like she had been waiting for him to ask.
"well, first of all," she began, "look at him."
seungmin deadpanned. "i do look at him. every day. because he's my dog."
"dude, it's been three days since you've seen him. and the first was at the adoption cent-"
she ignored the two. "he's literally the cutest thing. did you notice how his ears flop when he breathes?"
jisung muttered, "here we go."
y/n gasped dramatically. "and the little scar on his eyebrow? he looks like a pirate. a handsome pirate."
seungmin tilted his head. "handsome pirate?"
"yes!" y/n cried. "he has this rugged, mysterious look—like a hero with a tragic past."
jisung choked on his water.
seungmin stared at her, baffled. "you think my dog has a tragic past?"
"...he does," y/n huffed. "the whole reason he was in the shelter is because— well, he was abandoned.. and not treated with care. which is why he deserves all the love in the world now."
her voice softened slightly at the last part.
and for a second—just a second—seungmin didn’t have a sarcastic remark ready.
he just watched as she gazed at star again, her fingers lightly brushing against the fur on his back.
soft. gentle. affectionate.
there was something about the way she cared that made something uncomfortable stir in his chest.
he quickly cleared his throat. "so you're saying he’s a main character."
"obviously," y/n nodded. "if this were a movie, he'd be the heartwarming, lovable side character who helps the protagonist through tough times."
"then what does that make you?"
she blinked.
then she grinned. "the best friend. duh."
jisung chimed in from the kitchen, "pretty sure you're the main character here."
[han's mind rn: the fourth wall??? what is it?]
y/n laughed. "oh no, seungmin's the main character. he's all broody and grumpy and—"
seungmin raised an eyebrow. "and what?"
she smirked. "secretly a softie."
jisung howled.
seungmin groaned, shoving his textbook over to her. "read. before i kick you out."
y/n giggled but picked up the book obediently, flipping through the pages. "fine, fine. but just so you know, i'm gonna see star every single day from now on."
seungmin sipped his latte. "did i have a choice?"
"nope."
he exhaled through his nose. "figures."
jisung snickered. "damn. she already owns half of this dorm and it hasn't even been a day."
y/n beamed. "you're right. i should start bringing decorations."
"don't even think about it."
she winked. and somehow—between y/n's constant distractions, jisung's unhelpful commentary, and star snoring at their feet— seungmin found himself not minding it at all.
. . .
seungmin had a headache. not because of uni. not because of work. but because the girl just wouldn't shut the fuck up.
the study session had officially derailed at this point. and to make matters worse, jisung—his supposed best friend—had fully switched sides and was entertaining y/n’s nonsense instead of helping to keep her on track.
“seungmin, do you think star has dreams?” y/n asked suddenly, staring at the sleeping dog beside her with a fond smile.
seungmin blinked, deadpan. “huh?”
“like—what do you think he dreams about?”
jisung smirked from across the couch, munching on one of the pastries y/n had brought. “bet he dreams about running through a field of treats.”
“or maybe about fighting evil!” y/n gasped, dramatically throwing a fist in the air. “like a true hero.”
seungmin dragged a hand down his face. “y/n, i swear—”
“or maybe he dreams about you,” she cut in, turning toward him with a teasing grin. “since you’re his owner and all.”
he hesitated. for a second. and for some reason, that second was too long.
y/n noticed.
her eyes twinkled, mischief curling at the edges of her lips. “oh my god. do you care about that?”
seungmin scowled, turning back to his notes. “i literally do not care.”
“liar.”
jisung snorted. “she got you there.”
seungmin groaned, flipping to another page in his textbook, pretending to focus. “can we please study?”
y/n hummed. “mmm, maybe later.”
his eye twitched. “maybe later?”
she nodded, taking a sip of her matcha latte. “mhm.”
jisung laughed. “yeah, man. priorities.”
seungmin closed his eyes, exhaling through his nose.
he could throw them both out. he could lock the door. he could actually get his work done in peace.
but he didn’t.
instead, he sighed and turned his head slightly—just enough to see y/n sitting on the floor, her legs tucked under her, her fingers running absentmindedly through star’s fur as she murmured something to him.
soft.
she was soft. i'm aware i mentioned it before. but this man is just too smitten and he doesn't wanna admit it.
moving on.
it was annoying how much that was becoming a fact in his life.
his throat felt weird.
he cleared it. “if we’re not going to study, at least do something productive.”
y/n looked up. “like what?”
jisung pointed lazily. “laundry.”
“ew, i'm not washing some boys' laundry. pass.”
“dishes.”
“hard pass.”
seungmin sighed. “what i meant was.. help clean up the disaster you made on the table. not your chores, jisung.”
jisung pouted. “it was worth a try.”
she stood up, stretching her arms over her head before reaching for the empty takeout cups. seungmin didn’t know why—but his eyes lingered on her for a second too long.
the way her sleeves slid slightly down her wrists. the soft hum she let out as she moved. the light clicking of her rings as they tapped against the cups.
it was—
subtle.
but not enough. he looked away, shaking his head as jisung smirked at him from across the room.
don’t. seungmin mouthed.
jisung grinned.
seungmin glared.
jisung winked.
seungmin threw a pen at him. (x2)
by the time evening rolled around, the three of them had managed to not study for a total of six hours.
seungmin didn’t even know how that was possible.
somewhere in between y/n stealing one of his blankets (“it’s cold, seungmo, have a heart”), jisung and y/n dramatically reenacting an entire scene from a movie (“what are we, if not cosmic dust floating in the abyss?”—“jisung, shut up”), and y/n curling up beside star again (“you’re the cutest thing in the world—yes, i mean you, star”),
seungmin had lost control of the day.
and yet.
he let it happen.
because when y/n turned her head slightly and smiled at him—genuinely, softly, with that bright look in her eyes like she was just happy to be here—
seungmin didn’t mind it at all. not one bit. soon, enough, it was right after the sun had set, and y/n, unfortunately, had to leave.
she unlocked the door to her shared dorm, pushing it open with her shoulder. the soft hum of the night filled the space as she stepped in, her body exhausted but her heart… full.
“where have you been?”
rina’s voice rang from the couch, where she was lying upside down, her head hanging off the edge as she scrolled through her phone.
aeri, sitting cross-legged on the floor with a cup of tea, smirked. “let me guess—seungmin?”
y/n shut the door behind her, pausing. “…no?”
a beat of silence. aeri and rina stared at her.
y/n groaned, kicking off her shoes. “okay, yes—but it was for the project!”
aeri snorted. “mhm. project.”
“yeah, totally.” rina rolled onto her side. “is that why you’re smiling like an idiot right now?”
“i am not—”
“you so are.”
y/n scowled, throwing a cushion at them. “shut up.”
they laughed, rina catching the cushion before sitting up properly. “seriously though, how was it?”
y/n sighed, plopping onto the couch beside her. “it was… nice.”
aeri hummed, sipping her tea. “just nice?”
“yeah. we didn’t even get much work done, honestly.”
rina raised a brow. “you didn’t get work done? that’s new.”
y/n shrugged, rubbing at her eyes. “i dunno… star was there, and jisung was being jisung, and it was just…” she trailed off, her gaze softening.
they noticed.
aeri set her mug down, tilting her head. “you really like that dog, huh?”
y/n smiled, running a hand through her hair. “yeah. a lot.”
she didn’t say more. she didn’t have to. because they both knew what she wasn’t saying.
knew how much that golden retriever meant to her.
knew how much she had worried about him for days.
and now—he was safe. with seungmin, of all people.
her stomach flipped at the thought.
“seungmin’s a good guy,” rina murmured after a moment.
y/n blinked, looking at her.
aeri nodded. “yeah. kinda stiff, but still.”
y/n huffed a small laugh. “yeah. he’s good.”
she didn’t realize she was smiling again. she didn’t realize how warm her chest felt.
she only realized when aeri and rina exchanged knowing looks.
“omg—”
“no.”
they gasped.
rina grabbed her arm. “you like him.”
“i do not—”
aeri smirked. “y/n and seungmin, sitting in a tree—”
“i will throw you out.”
they died laughing as y/n groaned, shoving her face into a pillow. her heart thumped in her chest.
god. she hated them.
but maybe, they weren’t entirely wrong.
the air was crisp. sunlight streamed through the glass windows of the university’s main hall, casting golden streaks across the floor. y/n walked in, her bag slung over her shoulder. the campus was bustling, students huddled in groups, talking, laughing, yawning from their morning exhaustion. she weaved through the crowd, searching—
“y/n!”
she turned at the sound of her name, spotting felix and hyunjin across the hall.
felix waved dramatically. “we were about to call you.”
hyunjin grinned. “where were you last night? we tried calling you.”
y/n sighed. “oh my god, not you too.”
felix perked up. “ooooh, why? who else asked?”
she immediately regretted speaking.
hyunjin gasped. “wait, wait—was it seungmin?”
y/n choked on her coffee.
felix clapped. “that’s a yes!”
“i hate you guys.”
they cackled as they walked toward their lecture hall, hyunjin slinging an arm around her shoulders. “c’mon, spill. what happened?”
y/n groaned. “nothing!”
felix wiggled his brows. “oh? you sure?”
“i will end you, lee felix.”
the university library was quiet—well, as quiet as it could be with them in it. the scent of old books mixed with the sharp aroma of coffee, and the late afternoon sun filtered through the large glass windows, casting soft, golden hues over the long study tables. dust motes floated lazily in the warm light, drifting like tiny fireflies in the still air. the heavy shelves stretched toward the ceiling, lined with worn spines and crinkled pages, whispering secrets of past knowledge. somewhere in the distance, the occasional sound of a page turning or a muffled cough punctuated the silence, but at their table, silence was a foreign concept.
y/n sat between felix and hyunjin, her open notebook filled with neatly written notes, margins lined with underlined key points and little doodles she barely remembered sketching. the steady scratch of her pen against paper was a familiar rhythm, almost meditative, yet constantly interrupted by felix's restless shifting and hyunjin's occasional, dramatic sighs. across from them, aeri was flipping through her economics textbook, brows furrowed, her highlighter hovering in hesitation before finally marking a passage in a precise, straight line. rina, on the other hand, looked far too unbothered for someone who was definitely lagging behind, sipping lazily on her iced americano, the condensation dripping onto her untouched notes. the cup left a wet ring on the paper, but she didn’t seem to care, content to simply exist in this moment of chaotic tranquility.
felix stretched his arms above his head before slumping back into his chair with an exaggerated groan, the wooden legs creaking under his weight. he adjusted his reading glasses, even though they served no real purpose beyond aesthetics. "so let me get this straight," he began, tilting his head as if the angle would somehow change the reality of the situation. "you guys have been studying for the past week and i just found out we have an assignment due tomorrow?"
hyunjin snorted, flipping his pen between his fingers with practiced ease. "lix, it was literally on the syllabus."
"who reads the syllabus?"
aeri sighed, flipping a page, her expression exasperated yet unsurprised. "people who want to pass, maybe?"
felix rolled his eyes before turning to y/n, nudging her arm with the side of his hand like an impatient child. "you’re good at this. help me."
y/n sighed dramatically, her gaze shifting from felix’s pleading expression to the scattered mess that was his notes—half-written sentences, numbers that had no business being in those equations, and a truly concerning number of crossed-out attempts. "i always help you."
"that’s ‘cause i’m your favorite."
rina leaned forward, resting her chin on her palm, a slow smirk tugging at her lips. "that’s funny, because i thought i was her favorite."
"i thought i was," hyunjin added, raising a brow.
aeri scoffed, feigning offense. "she likes me the most. y/n, tell them."
y/n stared at them all, unimpressed, tapping her pen against the edge of her notebook. "none of you are my favorite."
a beat of silence stretched between them.
"yeah 'cause it's probably seungmin now." murmured a devastated hyunjin.
felix gasped, placing a hand over his heart as if physically wounded. "how could you?"
hyunjin wiped a fake tear. "we were best friends, y/n."
aeri shook her head in disappointment. "wow. betrayal."
rina sighed, sipping her coffee with the air of someone deeply wronged. "i trusted you."
y/n groaned, rubbing her temples. "oh my god, shut up and study!"
felix pouted but leaned in closer, resting his chin on his hand. "fine. but only if you explain this." he pointed to his book, where a bunch of equations were scribbled down, some very wrong.
y/n took one glance and winced. "felix… what is that?"
"my attempt at math?"
"it looks like you just guessed."
"…isn’t that how math works?"
aeri smacked his arm with her highlighter. "no."
hyunjin burst into laughter while rina shook her head, stirring her coffee absentmindedly. "you are so hopeless."
felix whined, turning back to y/n. "okay, okay, explain it to me."
y/n sighed, but there was fondness in her voice. "alright, listen carefully…" she leaned in, grabbing a pen, and started breaking down the equations step by step, her handwriting smooth and deliberate, looping over the lined paper in a way that made even numbers look elegant. felix watched with exaggerated concentration, nodding along as if he actually understood, though his occasional side glances at hyunjin betrayed his confusion. hyunjin watched for a few seconds before stretching his arms out with a groan. "i give up. my brain hurts."
"same," rina mumbled, propping her cheek against her palm.
aeri rolled her eyes. "you guys have the attention span of goldfish."
"i have the attention span of a very smart goldfish, thank you," hyunjin corrected, tossing his pen onto his notebook with a soft clatter.
felix nodded. "same. i’m a gifted goldfish."
"omg, lixie, what if we become cute goldfish together!"
y/n groaned, pressing her forehead against the table for a dramatic moment. "yeah, actually, why don't you? the pool's in the next building!"
y/n had a talent for many things. writing poetry? check. memorizing entire songs after listening to them twice? absolutely. winning over strangers with her sunshine personality? without a doubt.
but being on time? yeah, no.
her eyes widened as she looked at the time on her phone. the numbers blinked back at her, unforgiving and merciless. oh shit indeed.
the library around her suddenly felt suffocating, the quiet hum of study murmurs and the distant shuffle of pages all blending into white noise. the golden afternoon light spilling through the windows no longer felt warm and dreamy; it was a glaring reminder of the twenty minutes that had already passed.
“oh shit.”
felix and hyunjin, who were still lounging at their study table, looked up in unison, their gazes slow and unconcerned. the contrast between their leisure and her rising panic was almost comical.
hyunjin blinked. "language."
“oh my god, i’m late!” y/n scrambled to shove her books into her tote bag, her movements frantic and chaotic. papers crumpled under the force of her hands, and in her rush, her elbow nearly knocked over the remnants of her coffee. the cup wobbled dangerously before felix, ever the observer, reached out and steadied it with a lazy hand.
“i was supposed to meet seungmin twenty minutes ago!” her voice wavered somewhere between hysteria and despair.
felix, unfazed, took a slow sip of his drink. “oh, he’s gonna murder you.”
“i know!”
hyunjin grinned, resting his chin in his palm. “do you want us to attend your funeral, or would you prefer we just remember you as you were?”
“not helping!” she hissed, yanking the strap of her bag over her shoulder with more force than necessary.
aeri, who had been listening from the next table, raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "you guys are studying again?"
y/n waved a frantic hand. "yes, but listen—i planned something. a genius plan. a brilliant plan."
felix leaned forward, intrigued, though his smirk suggested he was already expecting something ridiculous. “do tell.”
“we’re not studying in his dorm.”
hyunjin’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “then where?”
y/n’s fingers flew over her phone as she sent a frantic ‘sorry! on my way!! don’t kill me!!!’ text before looking back at them, practically vibrating with excitement.
“i thought… instead of just sitting indoors, we could take star out.” she grinned, eyes gleaming with mischief. “maybe a walk? or even better—a garden! a little picnic study session! nature, fresh air, vibes.”
felix stared at her for a long moment, then burst into laughter. "you’re just using the project as an excuse to hang out with star, aren’t you?"
“…no.”
aeri smirked, arms crossed. "uh-huh. sure. and does seungmin know?"
y/n cleared her throat, her gaze darting to the side. "…he’ll find out when we get there."
hyunjin grinned, eyes glinting with amusement. “so basically, you’re kidnapping him.”
“i prefer the term forcefully encouraging outdoor bonding time,” y/n corrected, lifting her chin in faux sophistication.
felix leaned back in his chair, his laughter still lingering in the air. “or it's more of a date.”
“okay, okay, i have to go.” y/n swung her bag over her shoulder with all the grace of someone teetering on the edge of disaster. “if i don’t text in the next hour, assume seungmin has buried me alive.”
“will do,” hyunjin said cheerfully. “good luck, kidnapper.”
y/n rolled her eyes but didn’t stop to argue. instead, she bolted out of the library, weaving between study tables and stacks of books, her hurried footsteps echoing against the quiet hush of the space. the moment she pushed through the heavy doors and into the cool evening air, her heart pounded against her ribs.
seungmin was so going to kill her. but at least he’d have to do it after their impromptu picnic.
“notice how she didn't deny about it being a date?”
y/n practically sprinted to her dorm, dodging students and weaving through the hallways like she was in an action movie. her hair whipped around her face, strands catching in the soft glow of overhead lights, and her breath came in short, determined bursts. her mind raced faster than her feet, already imagining seungmin’s unimpressed stare, his sharp eyes narrowed in something between disappointment and reluctant amusement.
she nearly crashed into rina, who had just stepped out.
“woah—where’s the fire?” she laughed, stepping aside.
“in seungmin’s eyes if i don’t get there soon!” y/n yelled, yanking open the door and rushing inside.
“told you he’d kill you one of these days.”
“yeah, yeah,” y/n huffed, throwing her tote bag onto the floor. she hurriedly grabbed her water bottle, some notebooks, and very important essentials—star’s treats, a small blanket, and, of course, snacks. rina peered into the bag, her expression knowing. "you realize you’re doing more for this dog than you did for our last project, right?"
"first of all, rude," y/n shot back, stuffing one last thing into her tote. "second of all—no time to argue, i gotta go!"
she waved lazily. "don’t get yourself murdered."
y/n barely heard her as she bolted out of the dorm, her feet pounding against the pavement, heart racing. the wind bit at her skin, but she barely noticed. she had a mission.
so, by the time y/n reached seungmin and jisung’s dorm, she was breathless, her chest rising and falling rapidly, but victorious. she knocked rapidly, shifting her tote bag from one shoulder to the other. the door swung open, revealing jisung with terribly disheveled hair, not that she judged.
“ah,” he said, arms crossed, his features alight with mischief. “so you do have a death wish.”
y/n pouted. “i apologized!”
“thirty-eight minutes late,” he pointed out, raising an eyebrow. “a bold move, considering the man inside is the seungmin.”
y/n huffed, lifting the three matcha lattes in her hand. “bribery, if you will.”
jisung’s eyes twinkled with amusement as he stepped aside. “well, in that case, welcome.”
she stepped in, spotting seungmin at his desk. he barely looked up.
“you’re late.”
“i know,” y/n whined, setting the drinks down. “i had a valid reason.”
seungmin glanced at the drinks, his lips twitching. “bribery won’t work.”
“but this bribery includes your favorite matcha latte. i brought one for you too, ji!” she grinned.
jisung nodded. “compelling argument.”
seungmin sighed but grabbed the drink. “fine. you’re forgiven. for now.”
the second y/n stepped into the hallway, her eyes immediately searched for the golden fluffball.
“star!” she gasped, dramatically dropping to her knees as if she’d been away for years.
star, in all his fluffy, golden, star-like glory, perked up at the sound of her voice, tail wagging furiously.
“oh my baby—” y/n cooed, completely ignoring seungmin as she placed her tote bag down and reached for star. he excitedly trotted toward her, his tail thumping against the floor as she cupped his face and showered him with scratches.
“i missed you so much,” she whispered against his fur, her voice soft as she ran her hands over his head and back. she checked his food bowl, peeked at his bed, and gave him a homemade treat like the concerned parent she definitely wasn’t but absolutely felt like.
seungmin, watching the whole ordeal with an unimpressed expression, sighed. “are you actually here to study or just to visit him?”
“both,” y/n shot back, still petting star. “but mostly him.”
“figures,” seungmin muttered.
“good. now, time for the next part.”
seungmin narrowed his eyes. “what next part?”
y/n blinked innocently. “oh. did i forget to mention?”
seungmin stared. “excuse me?”
jisung, watching from the couch, was thriving on the dynamic. “okay, so are you guys going now or…?”
y/n stood up suddenly and grabbed seungmin’s wrist. “yep! let’s go.”
seungmin blinked. “go where—”
“no questions.”
“so you're kidnapping me now?”
“i prefer the term ‘forcefully encouraging outdoor bonding time,’” y/n corrected.
seungmin’s deadpan stare could have melted steel.
“no.”
“yes.”
jisung, delighted, grabbed a snack. “i voted yes ages ago.”
y/n huffed. “well, too bad, seung. you’re coming whether you like it or not.” she grabbed his wrist and pulled.
seungmin groaned. “i hate this already.”
“no, you don’t.”
“…no, i don’t.”
jisung waved. “have fun, lovebirds.”
“say that to my face when i come back to you and minho making out on the couch.”
“um, is privacy just a concept now???” jisung's eyes widened and he almost fell off the couch from the remark. “leave us alone!”
and just like that, she was dragging him forward, with star happily trotting beside them.
seungmin let himself be pulled (because, really, what other choice did he have?) as jisung waved them off. as they stepped outside, y/n grinned triumphantly. she was taking seungmin and star on a picnic.
call it a date, if you want to.
this was a win, either way.
the streets were alive with the hum of the noon—the soft chatter of pedestrians, the occasional honk of a distant car, the faint rustle of leaves as the wind carried whispers through the trees. the golden hour painted the world in warmth.
seungmin shoved his hands in his pockets as y/n led the way, walking slightly ahead with star. the breeze tugged at the loose strands of her hair, lifting them gently as if the wind itself were playing along. she was practically bouncing on her feet, occasionally turning back to look at seungmin with the biggest, most childlike grin ever.
he hated how cute it was. star trotted beside her, his tail wagging as he happily sniffed the air. the scent of freshly baked bread from a nearby café mixed with the subtle fragrance of damp earth, the aftermath of a brief afternoon drizzle. y/n giggled, reaching down to scratch star’s head.
“you’re such a good boy, you know that?” she cooed, her voice soft. “you deserve all the happiness in the world, my baby.”
seungmin raised an eyebrow. “i hope you know you’ve just activated his ‘spoiled prince’ mode.”
y/n shot him a look. “excuse me? star deserves to be treated like royalty.”
“he’s literally been in my dorm for one day, and he already walks around like he owns the place.”
“that’s right, baby, you’re the king. own it.”
seungmin muttered something under his breath, but he couldn’t hide the amused look in his eyes.
they turned a corner, walking past a row of small cafés. the air carried hints of roasted coffee beans and sweet pastries, the kind of scents that made everything feel a little warmer, a little cozier. y/n pointed at one of them.
“oh! that’s where felix and i go for late-night coffee runs.”
“late-night coffee runs? you mean ‘let’s see how much caffeine we can consume before death’ runs?”
“how dare you? we are simply connoisseurs of the fine art that is coffee appreciation.”
“you’re addicts.”
“you sound like aeri.”
“well, maybe aeri is right.”
“betrayal. i trusted you.”
“you trust way too easily.”
“that’s called being nice, seungmin.”
“more like being reckless.”
y/n stuck her tongue out at him. “you’re just mad because i forced you outside.”
“i am mad,” seungmin deadpanned. “i was perfectly fine at home, but no, you had to drag me into the world of socializing and fresh air.”
“fresh air is good for you.”
“no, staying inside and avoiding people is good for me.”
y/n snorted. “you are such a grandpa.”
seungmin side-eyed her. “and you are such a child.”
“and yet, here you are, following a said child to a picnic.”
seungmin sighed, looking up at the sky. “this is my life now.”
y/n just laughed, swinging their hands slightly before realizing what she was doing and immediately letting go.
seungmin didn’t say anything. they reached a quieter street, lined with trees. the golden hour made everything glow, and y/n looked at the street, eyes sparkling.
“it’s so pretty,” she murmured.
y/n suddenly turned to him, her expression soft. “aren’t you glad i dragged you out now?”
seungmin glanced at her, taking in the way her eyes shone in the golden light, the way she absentmindedly reached down to scratch behind star’s ear, the way she looked so effortlessly happy.
he sighed. “i guess it’s not that bad.”
y/n grinned. “that’s the closest thing to a compliment i’ll ever get from you, huh?”
“correct.”
she giggled, and they walked on, letting the peaceful evening carry them forward.
the park was bathed in golden sunlight by the time they arrived, the grass glowing under the warmth of the late afternoon. the blades swayed gently with the occasional breeze, casting playful shadows over the earth. the air smelled of sun-warmed leaves and the faint perfume of wildflowers that lined the walking paths. birds flitted between branches, their soft chirping blending seamlessly with the rustling of leaves. in the distance, laughter and chatter wove into the afternoon air—people jogging along the winding trails, couples lounging on picnic blankets, and children chasing soccer balls with delighted squeals.
but for y/n, it was perfect. a vast, open space. fresh air. the scent of flowers. and most importantly—star.
“finally!” y/n cheered, practically skipping onto the grass as she let go of seungmin’s wrist and crouched down.
“star! you’re free! run, my love, run!” she dramatically spoke.
the dog, catching onto the excitement, let out a happy bark and dashed across the field. his golden fur shimmered under the sunlight as he zoomed in circles, his ears flopping with every movement. the grass bent beneath his paws, tiny petals bursting into the air where he ran.
seungmin exhaled, rubbing his temples. “i feel like i’m babysitting two creatures at once.”
y/n shot him a playful glare. “excuse you. i am a fully functional human being.”
seungmin crossed his arms. “are you? because i just watched you sprint into the park like a five-year-old.”
“i am excited, seungmin! let me live!” y/n huffed, standing up straight and placing her hands on her hips. “look at him. look at my son being all happy.”
seungmin followed her gaze, watching as star excitedly sniffed around, kicking up grass with his paws. he had to admit—watching the dog so free and joyful was kind of… nice. the late sunlight glowed against star’s fur, a halo of gold against the soft green of the park.
y/n, noticing seungmin’s soft expression, nudged him. “see? this is fun. you’re having fun, aren’t you?”
seungmin scoffed. “i'll have fun when we finish our project.”
y/n gasped dramatically. “you love star. you love spending time outside with me. you just don’t wanna admit it.”
seungmin turned to her, deadpan. “i tolerate you at best.”
y/n smirked. “mm-hmm, sure, mr. ‘i secretly enjoy this but will never admit it.’”
seungmin ignored her, crouching down and clicking his tongue. “star, come here.”
star, tail wagging, instantly ran over to seungmin. y/n watched in amusement as seungmin gently patted the dog’s head, scratching behind his ears.
“wow,” y/n teased, arms crossed. “you really are a softie.”
“i am not,” seungmin retorted.
“oh, you so are,” y/n giggled, dropping down beside them. she reached out, rubbing star’s belly as he flopped onto the grass.
for a moment, the world was quiet—just the sound of birds, the occasional laughter of kids in the distance, and the rustling of leaves in the wind. and then, unexpectedly, seungmin chuckled.
it was soft—barely there—but y/n heard it.
she turned her head quickly, eyes turning into little crescents as she smiled, looking at the guy while he pet star.
“your smile is adorable, you know,”
“can we go and actually study now?” seungmin insisted, turning away.
y/n grinned mischievously. “seungmin has a pretty smile, confirmed.”
seungmin rolled his eyes. “shut up.”
“make me.”
seungmin shot her a look. “do you want me to throw you in a bush?”
“you wouldn’t dare.”
seungmin smirked. “test me.”
y/n, still grinning, turned back to star, petting his fur. she didn’t push further, but something about this moment—seungmin smiling, actually enjoying himself—made her heart feel… warm.
then, after what felt like forever of running around with star, playing fetch, and letting him explore every flower patch in sight, they finally settled under a large oak tree. the bark was rough against their backs, but the shade was cool, offering a soft reprieve from the sun’s golden heat.
seungmin stretched his legs out, pulling out his laptop. “alright. now can we actually get to work?”
y/n sat cross-legged across from him, her notebook and a takeout cup in front of her. “yes, yes, fine.”
seungmin raised an eyebrow. “you say that, but you’re still petting star.”
y/n froze mid-pat. “…okay, maybe i have a problem.”
seungmin sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “you definitely have a problem.”
still, he opened his laptop, scanning through the project notes. y/n followed along—at least, she tried to. but every few minutes, she found herself glancing at star, who was now napping beside them, his head resting on her thigh. he noticed.
“y/n.”
“hm?”
“you’re not paying attention.”
y/n blinked. “what? yes, i am.”
seungmin gave her an unimpressed look. “oh yeah? what did i just say?”
y/n panicked. “uh. something about, businesses..?”
seungmin sighed. “you’re impossible.”
y/n pouted. “look, i am listening, but how can i not admire this beautiful creature sleeping on my lap?”
seungmin side-eyed star. “yeah, yeah, he’s adorable. now focus.” y/n huffed, reluctantly turning back to her notes.
for a while, they actually worked—throwing around ideas, writing down key points, and organizing their research.
at some point, though, y/n noticed the way seungmin’s brows furrowed when he was focused, how he tapped his fingers against his laptop absentmindedly. and more than once, seungmin caught y/n just staring at him.
“what?” he finally asked, raising an eyebrow.
y/n shook her head. “nothing.”
seungmin narrowed his eyes. “are you admiring me now?”
y/n scoffed. “you look peaceful when you're reading.”
seungmin just blinked. “well.. i'm reading.”
they continued working, but there was something different now—something softer in the air. subtle things.
like how y/n adjusted star’s sleeping position carefully so he’d be more comfortable. like how seungmin absentmindedly handed y/n her coffee when he noticed she hadn’t taken a sip in a while.
like how their shoulders would brush every now and then, neither of them pulling away. it was all so small, yet it lingered.
and when the sun dipped lower, when the air got a little cooler, when the world felt quieter, y/n found herself thinking—
maybe this wasn’t so bad after all.
“star, come back, you little menace!” she giggled, barely able to keep up.
seungmin, standing a few feet away with his hands in his pockets, watched the scene unfold with an unreadable expression. his gaze flickered between y/n’s bright, joyful smile and the way star eagerly circled around her, tail wagging furiously.
it was ridiculous, how happy they looked together. ridiculous, and maybe a little… endearing.
star, realizing he was being chased, took that as an invitation to run even faster, his paws kicking up little tufts of grass.
“seungmin!” y/n called, breathless. “help me!”
seungmin sighed. “you brought this upon yourself.”
y/n pouted dramatically. “rude.”
still, seungmin finally crouched down and clicked his tongue, calling for star. instantly, the golden retriever skidded to a stop, his ears perking up as he sprinted toward seungmin instead.
y/n gasped, stopping in her tracks. “traitor!”
seungmin smirked as star practically crashed into him, licking his face. “i guess he likes me better.”
y/n stomped over, hands on her hips. “he does not!”
seungmin wiped his face with his sleeve. “he literally abandoned you for me.”
y/n huffed, flopping onto the grass beside him. star immediately lay down between them, tongue lolling out in content.
“fine,” she said dramatically. “maybe he likes you a little bit.”
seungmin raised an eyebrow. “wow. high praise.”
y/n stuck her tongue out at him before turning her attention back to star. she rubbed his belly, murmuring sweet nonsense as he wagged his tail in delight.
the moment was peaceful. warm. the kind of easy happiness that made time feel slower.
until—
a blur of brown and white fur came bounding toward them, yapping excitedly.
another dog, a lot smaller than star, skidded to a stop right in front of them. her fur was a mix of ginger-brown and cream, her ears flopping as she wagged her tail in excitement.
“oh?” y/n blinked, watching as the new dog sniffed star curiously.
before seungmin could react, a voice called out.
“berry! berry, you little gremlin, get back here!”
a guy—tall, broad-shouldered, dressed in casual sweats—ran toward them, slightly out of breath, his australian accent quite evident. his curly hair was ruffled from the wind, and he had a charming, easygoing smile as he stopped a few feet away.
“oh man, i’m so sorry,” he said, hands on his knees as he caught his breath. “she just—she loves meeting other dogs.”
y/n, already grinning, waved him off. “no worries! star’s the exact same.”
the guy straightened, flashing a sheepish smile. “yeah? that’s good. she’s too friendly sometimes.” he gestured toward the excitable golden retriever, who was now playfully nudging star’s side. “her name’s berry.”
y/n gasped. “that is the cutest name ever.”
the guy laughed, clearly amused. “you think so? i was kinda worried it was too cutesy, but she looks like a little berry, so it stuck.”
seungmin, who had been standing quietly the whole time, resisted the urge to roll his eyes.
this guy is too friendly.
and y/n is too easily charmed.
“i’m chris, by the way,” the guy continued, offering a hand.
“y/n!” she shook his hand enthusiastically. “and this is seungmin.” she nudged seungmin’s arm. “say hi.”
seungmin sighed. “hi.”
chris chuckled. “nice to meet you two.”
seungmin nodded stiffly, before deciding to step back, returning to where their books were laid out under the tree.
y/n, completely unaware of the shift in his mood, continued chatting.
“so how old is berry?” she asked, scratching behind the pup’s ears.
“just over nine! she's been an amazing girl.” chris crouched down beside her, watching as berry and star playfully tumbled over each other. “she’s usually tired but still excited, though.”
y/n laughed. “oh, she's adorable. star has the energy of a child with unlimited sugar intake.”
chris snorted. “that’s the best kind, though.”
seungmin, from where he sat, clicked his tongue.
what’s so funny? what’s so interesting?
he tried to focus on his notes, but his mind kept drifting back to y/n’s voice—bright and animated as she talked to this guy like they’d known each other forever.
it was annoying. not that he cared. of course not.
except he did. a little. maybe. a tiny bit.
“seung!” y/n called suddenly, snapping him out of his thoughts. “come back here! your kid's making a new friend, and you’re missing it!”
seungmin sighed, shutting his laptop a little too aggressively.
when he walked back over, y/n gave him a big, innocent grin. “welcome back. did you miss us?”
seungmin looked at her. then at chris. then at the two dogs playing.
“no.”
y/n laughed, nudging him with her elbow. “liar.”
seungmin sighed, shaking his head. he hated how she could read him so easily.
chris, still petting berry, smiled. “you guys come here often?”
“sometimes, alone though. he just adopted star two days ago.” y/n chirped. “seungmin and i have a project, but i lowkey tricked him into coming here instead of the library.”
chris laughed. “genius.”
seungmin groaned. “please don’t encourage her.”
chris just grinned. “i mean, i get it. if my friend tried to make me study in a library instead of chilling outside with pups? i’d revolt.”
y/n gasped, dramatically placing a hand over her heart. “seungmin! you hear that?! i am validated!”
seungmin stared blankly. “i am regretting my life choices.”
chris chuckled. “well, if you guys ever wanna do another dog hangout, berry and i are around a lot.” he reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. “here, y/n, you should give me your number. we can plan something.”
seungmin nearly choked.
y/n, completely oblivious to the way seungmin visibly tensed, beamed. “oooh, yes, of course! looks like our dogs are already friends.” she quickly typed her number into chris’s phone, and seungmin felt a very unreasonable surge of irritation.
chris stood, grinning. “cool. see you guys around!” as he walked away, berry gave star one last playful nudge before trotting off after her owner.
the moment they were out of earshot, seungmin exhaled.
y/n, grinning, turned to him. “that was fun, huh?”
seungmin raised an eyebrow. “you gave a random guy your number.”
“he’s not random! he has a dog, seungmin. that makes him automatically trustworthy.”
“that is the worst logic i’ve ever heard.”
y/n just laughed, bumping her shoulder against his. “you’re cute when you sulk, you know.”
seungmin scoffed. “i do not sulk.”
y/n just smirked. “mmm-hmm.”
seungmin rolled his eyes, but as they sat back down under the tree, watching star flop into the grass with a content sigh, he found himself almost smiling.
almost.
so with chris and berry gone, and star finally exhausted from his zoomies, seungmin and y/n settled back under the tree where their books, laptops, and coffee cups were scattered. ☆, now thoroughly worn out, plopped onto the grass with a deep, satisfied sigh, his golden fur catching the sunlight. he lay near y/n’s side, occasionally shifting to rest his head on her lap as she absentmindedly scratched behind his ears.
seungmin, on the other hand, was busy flipping through pages of notes, fingers tapping against his knee. he had somehow ended up with y/n’s pink highlighter, and though he’d never admit it, he kind of liked the contrast of bright neon ink against his otherwise meticulously organized notes.
“well,” y/n stretched, her head tilting back as she groaned dramatically, “we have two days to get this done. two. days. and i still have, like, 40% of the work left.”
seungmin glanced up. “you should be worried, but you don’t look worried.”
she grinned. “because i have you to keep me on track.”
he blinked, unamused. “i regret letting you meet my dog.”
y/n gasped. “excuse me? star was mine first.”
seungmin smirked, tapping the back of his pen against his notebook. “i literally signed the adoption papers. he’s mine now.”
y/n pouted, leaning down to rest her cheek against star’s fur. “baby, did you hear that? your so-called dad is so mean.”
star wagged his tail once but didn’t move.
seungmin scoffed, but there was something fond in the way he looked at her.
“anyway,” he said, flipping a page. “we need to get through at least two sections today if we don’t wanna pull an all-nighter before submission.”
y/n sat up, pushing her hair behind her ears. “alright, alright. time to be productive.”
for a few minutes, it was actually quiet. seungmin explained a concept, y/n listened, asked questions, and for a rare moment, she was focused.
and then— star stretched, rolling onto his back with his paws in the air.
y/n immediately melted, again.
“oh my god,” she whispered, “he’s so cute.”
seungmin closed his eyes, inhaling sharply. “y/n—”
“just look at him!” she gushed, putting her laptop aside to rub star’s belly. “how am i supposed to study when this exists?”
seungmin pinched the bridge of his nose. “you dragged me here for a study session and now you’re the one getting distracted.”
y/n pouted. “i can’t help it!”
seungmin let out a slow exhale before leaning forward to flick her forehead.
“ow—hey!” y/n rubbed the spot he’d flicked, looking betrayed.
“focus,” he said, smirking.
y/n narrowed her eyes but sighed, reluctantly returning to her notes.
minutes passed. then an hour.
despite her initial distractions, y/n actually did well. she caught up on most of the sections she had been behind on, taking notes diligently while seungmin occasionally tested her on concepts.
somewhere between paragraphs and equations, their coffee cups ran empty, and star dozed off beside y/n, his soft snores blending into the comfortable silence.
when the sunlight softened into afternoon hues, y/n stretched again, cracking her back dramatically.
“i think we actually made progress,” she said, sounding surprised.
seungmin glanced at her, amused. “you doubted me?”
“i doubted me,” she corrected. “you, on the other hand, are like an annoyingly effective tutor.”
he smirked. “annoying but effective. i’ll take it.”
she snorted.
then, after a beat, she turned to him with a softer expression.
“thanks for today,” she said.
seungmin blinked. “for… studying?”
“well, yeah,” she shrugged, “but also for letting me see star. and for putting up with my distractions.”
he glanced away for a second, pretending to focus on closing his laptop. “it’s fine. you were less annoying than usual.”
y/n gasped. “seungmin. was that… a compliment?”
he groaned. “forget i said anything.”
but y/n just giggled, nudging his shoulder.
. . .
with the study session wrapping up, y/n shut her notebook and stretched, arms reaching towards the sky as she let out a satisfied sigh.
“i think my brain is officially fried,” she declared, flopping back onto the cool grass.
seungmin rolled his eyes, finishing up his notes. “you always say that after studying for an hour.”
“that’s because my brain isn’t built for intense academic labor.”
“yeah? what is it built for?”
y/n hummed, glancing at the sky. “talking. music. daydreaming. falling in love with random fictional characters—”
seungmin scoffed. “should’ve figured.”
y/n giggled, turning to her side to look at him. “what about you? you’re a music major, right?”
he nodded. “yeah.”
“so, you like music?”
he blinked at her. “no, y/n, i hate it. that’s why i chose to major in it.”
she snorted. “okay, i get it. but like… do you just sing, or do you compose too?”
seungmin hesitated, eyes flickering to the grass as he picked at the hem of his sleeve. “…i write, too.”
y/n’s eyes widened. “wait, really?”
“that’s so cool,” she grinned. “what kind of stuff do you write?”
he glanced away, pretending to be uninterested, but there was a faint pink dusting his ears. “it depends.”
“depends on what?”
“…on the mood.”
y/n tilted her head. “like, do you write sad songs when you’re sad?”
“sometimes.”
“and happy songs when you’re happy?”
seungmin exhaled a laugh. “yeah, something like that.”
y/n hummed in thought before sitting up, crossing her legs. “can i hear something someday?”
he turned to her, eyebrows raised. “you wanna hear my songs?”
“well, yeah,” she said like it was obvious. “if you wrote them, they must be good.”
seungmin looked at her for a moment, slightly taken aback.
it wasn’t that he hid his music, but he also never had someone be this… interested.
y/n, on the other hand, seemed genuinely eager. her brown eyes sparkled with curiosity, her black curls catching the golden sunlight as she leaned in slightly.
“…maybe one day,” he finally said.
she gasped, dramatically placing a hand on her heart. “did i just get kim seungmin to agree to something?”
he rolled his eyes. “regretfully.”
y/n laughed, the sound soft and warm, blending into the lazy afternoon air.
then, after a beat, she asked, “so, when did you start writing?”
seungmin hesitated, staring at the ground for a second before answering. “…high school, i guess.”
“because you liked it?”
“because i needed to.”
y/n’s playful grin softened. “needed to?”
he sighed, leaning back on his hands. “…it was just an outlet, i guess.”
y/n nodded, understanding. “music’s like that, huh? the way it can say what words can’t.”
seungmin turned to her, surprised. “…yeah.”
for a second, they just looked at each other.
the breeze was soft, rustling through the leaves, and the golden afternoon light framed y/n’s face perfectly.
seungmin swallowed.
she was—
“…anyway!” y/n broke the silence, grinning again. “do you have a favorite song you’ve written?”
he blinked, shaking off whatever that thought was. “not really.”
“what? no way.”
he smirked. “i don’t.”
“well, what’s your most recent one about?”
he hesitated, the corner of his lips twitching. “wouldn’t you like to know?”
y/n groaned. “you are so annoying.”
“you’re the one asking questions.”
“because i wanna know you!” she huffed.
seungmin stilled.
y/n blinked, realizing how that sounded, and quickly scrambled to fix it. “i mean, like—! not in a weird way! just in a ‘we’re friends and i’m curious’ way—”
seungmin chuckled, amused at her sudden flustered state.
her face was slightly red, lips pursed, avoiding his gaze.
and he—
…was noticing too much.
clearing his throat, he glanced away, staring at star, who was now lazily sprawled across the grass, napping.
“…it was about wanting something you can’t have,” he finally said.
y/n turned back to him, blinking. “what?”
“the last song i wrote,” he said, not looking at her. “it was about that.”
y/n tilted her head. “oh…”
silence.
“…like a person.. or a thing?”
seungmin’s jaw tensed. “something like that.”
y/n’s lips parted slightly, but she didn’t push.
instead, she smiled gently. “well, if you ever wanna share, i’d love to hear it.”
seungmin glanced at her.
she meant it.
it was in the way her voice softened, the way her eyes held nothing but warmth.
“…yeah,” he muttered, looking away. “maybe.”
y/n grinned. “i’ll hold you to that.”
seungmin exhaled, shaking his head, but the corner of his lips twitched.
and as the afternoon stretched on, filled with more questions, quiet laughter, and stolen glances—
he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was shifting.
the golden hues of the afternoon had softened into a dusky warmth, but neither of them had moved from their spot. the books had been closed a while ago, pushed aside, making way for idle chatter and occasional banter. star was still sprawled across the grass, now lazily flicking his tail in his sleep.
y/n reached for her matcha latte without thinking, bringing it to her lips as she listened to seungmin talk.
“so, basically, jisung thought he was auditioning for a singing position but it was actually for theatre,” seungmin smirked, recalling the tragic yet hilarious memory.
y/n, mid-sip, choked on her drink. “what?!”
seungmin watched as she coughed, eyes wide in disbelief.
“you’re telling me he— he accidentally signed up for a theatre audition? how does one confuse that..”
“oh yeah.” seungmin nodded, crossing his arms. “i swear, i’ve never seen him improvise so fast. he ended up just… dramatically narrating the lyrics to some song.”
y/n wheezed. “please tell me there’s a video.”
“there is.”
“i need to see it.”
“we all do,” seungmin sighed. “but it’s buried in the archives of shame.”
y/n wiped the corner of her mouth, shaking her head. “jisung is actually insane.”
seungmin hummed in agreement, watching as she absentmindedly took another sip of matcha.
it took him approximately three seconds to realize—
that wasn’t her drink.
it was his.
his eyes flickered between the cup in her hand and his own, which was still sitting untouched beside him.
for a split second, he considered telling her—maybe teasing her for it.
but instead—
he said nothing.
maybe it was because she looked so natural, holding it like it had always been hers. or maybe it was the way she kept laughing, completely unaware of the fact that she had just—
whatever.
it didn’t bother him.
which was weird.
but before he could overthink it, y/n placed the cup back down, already moving to stretch.
“i need to move,” she groaned, standing up. “my legs are gonna cramp.”
seungmin leaned back on his hands. “what, so you’re just gonna run away?”
“not run,” she corrected, dramatically dusting off her jeans. “just gonna go play with my favorite boy in the world.”
seungmin raised a brow. “i’m right here.”
“i meant star, you nerdy narcissist.”
seungmin scoffed, shaking his head as he watched her crouch beside the golden retriever, gently running her fingers through his fur.
“cute.” there was a mumble.
star blinked up at her sleepily before sighing, dramatically rolling onto his back.
y/n gasped. “oh my god. you are so adorable.”
seungmin exhaled, his gaze lingering.
there was something about the way she was—so effortlessly warm, so naturally affectionate.
the way her eyes softened when she looked at star. the way she giggled when he licked her cheek. the way she—
“…min, look!”
he blinked, snapping out of his thoughts as y/n turned to him, beaming.
“what?”
she pointed at star, who was now trying to hold her hand between his paws.
seungmin huffed out a small laugh. “yeah, yeah. he likes you.”
“like???” y/n scoffed. “loves. he loves me.”
seungmin rolled his eyes, pushing himself up from the grass and walking over to them.
as he approached, star wagged his tail excitedly, shifting his attention to him.
“see?” y/n grinned. “he loves you, too.”
seungmin crouched down, scratching star behind the ears. “obviously. who wouldn’t?”
y/n shot him an unimpressed look. “you have no shame.”
he smirked. “why would i?”
y/n groaned, flopping onto the grass dramatically.
star, thrilled by her sudden movement, barked before immediately climbing on top of her.
“wait, no—!” y/n squeaked.
seungmin stood over them, arms crossed. “this is hilarious.”
“help me, you traitor!”
he shrugged. “nah, you’re his favorite, right? deal with it.”
y/n glared at him through a mess of golden fur, breathless from laughing.
and seungmin—
he noticed it again.
the way her cheeks were flushed. the way her curls were sprawled against the grass. the way—
“…oh my god, is this your revenge?” y/n gasped.
seungmin snapped out of it. “what?”
“you planned this.” she squinted at him, grinning. “you trained star to betray me.”
he snorted. “yeah, because i totally trained a dog i adopted yesterday.”
“exactly!”
he rolled his eyes. “you’re insane.”
“thank you.”
with that, she finally managed to wriggle out from under star, sitting up and dusting off her clothes.
star happily plopped his head onto her lap, sighing contently.
y/n smiled, running her fingers through his fur.
and seungmin—
he exhaled, sitting beside them.
he didn’t get it.
didn’t understand why—
why it was so easy to be here, with her.
why it was so easy to look.
but for some reason—
he didn’t mind figuring it out.
soon, the sky had started shifting into deeper shades of indigo, the golden warmth of the sun melting into something softer, quieter. they hadn’t moved from their spot under the tree, their books still scattered on the blanket beneath them, long forgotten. star had long since worn himself out from his zoomies, only to reawaken with another surge of energy, bolting across the grass like a streak of gold.
y/n had her knees tucked up to her chest, her chin resting lazily atop them, watching the dog with the kind of fondness that made something in seungmin’s chest tighten.
“you do realize you’re going to be his favorite person for life, right?” she mused, glancing at him with a knowing smile.
seungmin, leaning back on his hands, scoffed. “he better be loyal.”
she gasped dramatically. “loyal? seungmin, that’s a dog. of course he's loyal.”
he laughed, tilting his head. “yeah?”
y/n exhaled, flopping onto her back. “yeah.”
“finally,” he hummed, shifting to look down at her, “it seems you're tired.”
she lifted a hand, flicking his forehead. “against my will.”
seungmin chuckled under his breath, rubbing the spot absentmindedly. “right. that’s why you’ve been making it your life’s mission to barge into my dorm every day like a ray of sunshine.”
y/n opened her mouth to argue, but no words came out. she clamped it shut, lips pressing into a line.
seungmin smirked. “that’s what i thought.”
“you’re so annoying,” she grumbled, turning her head away.
“yet you’re still here.”
“stop repeating that!”
his laugh was warm, effortless.
the silence that followed was comfortable—easy in the way that it lingered without pressure, stretching between them as the wind stirred through the leaves above. the distant sounds of the park continued—laughter, conversation, the occasional bark—but between them, the world was quiet.
y/n was still lying on her back, her eyes tracing the deepening hues of the sky. seungmin sat beside her, his gaze naturally drawn to her profile—the soft curve of her lips, the gentle rise and fall of her chest. his hand rested against the blanket, fingers idly toying with the hem. he wasn’t entirely sure why he was still looking, but something about the way she was bathed in fading light made it impossible to glance away.
“do you ever just…” y/n’s voice was softer now, thoughtful. “feel so full of something but don’t know what to do with it?”
seungmin stilled.
“…what kind of ‘something’?”
she exhaled slowly. “like…” she turned her head, meeting his gaze. “something warm.”
his fingers curled slightly against the fabric beneath him.
warm.
he knew that feeling. he’d been feeling it this entire time.
a slow, deliberate kind of warmth. the kind that sneaks up on you and settles beneath your skin. the kind that lingers, even when you’re trying not to think about it.
“yeah,” he murmured, his voice quieter than before.
y/n’s lips parted slightly, her eyes searching his.
he didn’t know who moved first.
maybe it was her—her breath hitching as she leaned ever so slightly closer.
maybe it was him—the way his hand lifted, fingers grazing against her wrist, tentative but not hesitant.
maybe it was something neither of them could name, something inevitable. all he knew was that when their lips met, the world stopped.
it was soft at first, unhurried—like a quiet realization unfolding in real time. her lips were warm, plush, molding against his in a way that sent a slow, curling heat through his veins. he could feel the tentative way she responded, the hesitation melting away as she pressed closer. his hand moved on instinct, cupping the side of her face, his thumb brushing against the delicate skin of her cheek.
and then—
she sighed against him.
and something in seungmin broke.
the kiss deepened, slow and intoxicating, the warmth between them turning into something more. his fingers slid into her hair, tilting her head as he kissed her deeper, tasting the faint remnants of matcha on her tongue. her hands gripped his sleeves, clutching onto him like she wasn’t sure she’d ever let go.
a slow drag of lips. the slide of warmth. the gentle push and pull, like a silent conversation in a language only they understood.
she made a soft sound—a quiet, involuntary sigh against his mouth—and seungmin groaned, his grip tightening. in one swift motion, he pulled her into his lap, his arms wrapping securely around her.
she gasped against him, fingers gripping his collar now, knuckles white.
seungmin barely pulled away, his breath mingling with hers. “okay?”
y/n nodded, dazed, her lips already parting for him again.
and so he kissed her again, deeper this time, slower, more deliberate. like he was savoring it. like he wanted to memorize the way she felt against him. the warmth of her. the way her lips yielded so easily to his. the way she sighed when he angled his head just right. he was good at this—really good at this. she could feel it in the way he moved, the way he knew exactly how to kiss her like he had all the time in the world.
it was dizzying.
overwhelming.
addicting.
when they finally pulled away, y/n was breathless, her cheeks burning. seungmin exhaled slowly, his thumb brushing against her cheekbone. she looked adorable. her lips were pink, slightly swollen, her eyes half-lidded and dazed.
“wow,” she whispered.
seungmin smirked. “yeah?”
y/n blinked, nodding furiously. “yeah.”
he chuckled, pressing his forehead against hers. “good.”
for a moment, they just breathed, the weight of what had just happened settling between them.
then—
a sudden blur of gold zoomed past them. they both turned just in time to see star bolting across the grass, his tail wagging so fast it was a blur.
seungmin sighed, rubbing his temple. “of course.”
y/n, still dazed, let out a giggle, her fingers still curled loosely around his collar. “guess he approves.”
seungmin rolled his eyes, but the corners of his lips twitched upward. “yeah, yeah.”
y/n bit her lip, looking down at him. her gaze flickered to his lips. seungmin caught it. his smirk widened.
“you so wanna kiss me again.”
y/n shoved his shoulder. “shut up.”
he laughed, his arms still around her. “you’re not even denying it.”
y/n groaned, burying her face into his shoulder. “shut up.”
seungmin just grinned, his fingers slipping back into her hair.
yeah. this warmth? he could get used to it.
they stayed like that for a while, tangled in the warmth of each other, the air still thick with something unnamed yet understood. neither of them moved immediately—not because they didn’t know what to do next, but because this was nice. the weight of her against him, the slow rhythm of their breaths, the way their fingers stayed lightly curled in each other’s clothes as if neither was quite ready to let go.
eventually, though, reality had to set in.
y/n exhaled, shifting slightly in his lap, her fingers still resting on the collar of his hoodie. “we should probably… y’know.”
seungmin hummed, making no move to let go. “should we?”
she narrowed her eyes, giving him a half-hearted glare. “don’t be annoying.”
he smirked. “i literally can’t help it.”
rolling her eyes, she lightly flicked his forehead before pushing herself up, and immediately regretted it. her legs were numb, her heart was still racing, and the moment she was standing, she suddenly realized—
we just kissed.
the weight of it hit her all over again, sinking into her skin, making her stomach twist in a way she couldn’t quite place. seungmin was still sitting, looking obnoxiously unbothered, like he didn’t just leave her completely breathless. she huffed under her breath, brushing imaginary dust off her sleeves.
meanwhile, seungmin watched her, eyes sharp, amused. he could see the way she was avoiding his gaze, could see the way her fingers twitched, adjusting her sleeves.
it was cute.
“something wrong?” he asked, voice laced with amusement.
she snapped her gaze to him, lips parting, face slightly pink. “huh? no! why would anything be wrong?”
seungmin’s smirk widened. “mhm.”
“i—” she huffed, crossing her arms. “you’re so annoying, i swear.”
he finally stood, stretching his arms above his head before stuffing his hands into his pockets. “and yet…”
y/n groaned. “seungmin.”
he chuckled, glancing at her before tilting his head toward the scattered books. “c’mon, let’s pack up.”
she nodded, relieved for the momentary escape from the weight of that kiss. but even as they gathered their books, even as she stuffed her things into her tote bag, she could still feel it. the warmth, the way he held her, the slow press of his lips against hers.
she turned her back to him, biting her lip to keep herself from grinning like an idiot.
seungmin noticed. he definitely noticed. but he didn’t say anything.
instead, he grabbed her unfinished matcha latte—the one that had started all this in the first place. without thinking, he lifted it to his lips, taking a sip. and y/n, ever the observant one, immediately noticed.
her eyes widened. “did you just—”
he raised a brow. “what?”
“that’s mine.”
seungmin blinked, licking his lips, as if only now realizing. then, he shrugged. “you drank from mine first.”
y/n’s face turned red. he smirked.
flustered, she grabbed her bag, whistled for star, and stormed off in the direction of the dorms. seungmin let out a soft laugh before following.
. . .
the walk back was… not awkward. but not not awkward.
there was something lingering in the air between them, something unspoken, something charged. y/n found herself hyperaware of everything—the distance between them, the way their hands occasionally brushed, the sound of their footsteps on the pavement.
seungmin, for once, wasn’t teasing her.
that, more than anything, made her nervous. she risked a glance at him. he was walking with his hands still in his pockets, eyes ahead, looking as relaxed as ever. if anything, he looked… deep in thought.
“seungmin.”
he turned his head. “hm?”
she hesitated. “are you—are you being weird?”
his lips twitched. “what does that even mean?”
“i don’t know,” she groaned, hugging her tote bag closer. “you’re quiet. you’re never quiet.”
he gave her a look. “i am quiet.”
“not around me.”
seungmin exhaled through his nose, looking away. “…i guess i’m just thinking.”
y/n frowned slightly. “thinking about what?”
he shrugged. “stuff.”
she narrowed her eyes. “what kind of stuff?”
at that, he glanced at her, meeting her gaze for a moment too long. “you.”
y/n’s breath hitched. her face burned.
seungmin looked back ahead, as if he hadn’t just casually said something that made her entire body short-circuit. she opened her mouth. closed it. opened it again. closed it again.
seungmin smirked to himself. they kept walking.
by the time they reached his dorm, the air was slightly less charged, but only because y/n had started rambling about how star needed a new toy collection. she was already planning an entire schedule for star—days when she’d take him out, what treats she’d bake, whether she should get him a sweater for when it got colder.
seungmin just listened, hands in his pockets, nodding occasionally.
when they reached the door, y/n turned to him, rocking on her heels. “so… see you tomorrow?”
seungmin leaned against the doorframe, tilting his head. “you’re not barging in again?”
she pouted. “am i that annoying?”
seungmin’s gaze flickered to her lips for a split second before he smirked. “nah.”
her heart did a thing. she quickly looked away. “okay, well. goodnight, seungmin.”
“ ‘night, y/n.”
she turned, starting down the hall, feeling a little lighter. just as she reached the end, she heard his voice.
“hey, y/n.”
she stopped. looked over her shoulder. “yeah?”
seungmin shoved his hands further into his pockets. for a moment, he just looked at her. then, with a slow, knowing smirk—
“sweet dreams.” and then he shut the door.
y/n stood there. processing. then, with an exasperated groan, she spun on her heel and stormed toward her own dorm.
her face was burning. seungmin, on the other side of the door, chuckled under his breath.
yeah. this was definitely going to be fun.
soon, y/n barely had time to recover from seungmin’s stupid smirk before she opened her dorm door and was immediately met with a chorus of gasps and dramatic expressions.
aeri was lounging on the couch, legs crossed, sipping on what looked like matcha tea (as if that wasn’t already triggering enough). rina was sitting on the floor with her back against the couch, arms crossed, eyes deadly sharp. felix and hyunjin?
they were standing. right in front of her.
like interrogators. waiting.
y/n blinked. “uh—”
aeri squinted. “you’re late.”
rina narrowed her eyes. “suspiciously late.”
hyunjin placed a hand over his chest. “and you didn’t text us back.”
felix gasped dramatically, gripping hyunjin’s shoulder. “she never does that.”
y/n gaped. “never?”
aeri pointed her straw at her. “never.”
“i was busy,” y/n whined, slipping off her shoes. “i did text you guys.”
“hours ago,” rina said.
felix crossed his arms. “so where were you really?”
y/n opened her mouth. closed it. looked around at all their expectant faces.
aeri gasped. “wait.”
everyone turned to her.
she pointed. “you look different.”
hyunjin’s eyes widened. “she does.”
felix leaned in, inspecting her face. “…she’s glowing.”
“i am not—”
“you’re blushing.”
y/n clapped a hand over her face. “i am not blushing.”
rina smirked. “did something happen?”
y/n groaned, throwing herself onto the couch beside aeri. “can i please just breathe?”
“no,” aeri said.
felix gasped again, grabbing hyunjin’s arm dramatically. “wait—what if—”
“what if she kissed seungmin?” hyunjin finished, eyes gleaming.
y/n choked. “what—”
“she totally did,” rina gasped.
aeri sat up, pointing. “you so did.”
felix clapped his hands. “we knew something was happening between you two!”
“i—no you did not—”
“we totally did,” hyunjin argued. “seungmin has never let someone drag him out for picnics.”
aeri wiggled her brows. “did you finally kiss, you slow-burn idiots?”
y/n smacked a cushion over her face. “i hate you all.”
“she’s not denying it.”
rina snorted. “so? how was it?”
“excuse me?”
felix and hyunjin jumped onto the couch, both of them pressing closer.
“be honest,” felix whispered.
“was he good?” hyunjin asked.
“did he—” aeri leaned in, smirking. “use tongue?”
“oh my god—”
. . .
meanwhile, in another part of the building, seungmin finally stepped into his dorm, tossing his bag near the door. he expected peace. silence.
maybe jisung playing some dumb mobile game and minho scrolling on his phone. instead..
the moment he closed the door, jisung and minho—sitting side by side on the couch—turned to look at him in perfect unison.
seungmin paused.
jisung raised a brow. “you’re late.”
seungmin exhaled. “oh my god, not you too.”
minho sipped his coffee. “he seems unusually… relaxed.”
seungmin narrowed his eyes. “and?”
jisung smirked. “you never come back relaxed.”
seungmin rolled his eyes, moving toward the fridge. “you guys are annoying.”
jisung gasped. “minho. minho. look at him.”
minho hummed. “i see it.”
seungmin turned. “see what?”
jisung grinned. “you got some, didn’t you?”
minho smirked. “i knew you liked her.”
seungmin groaned, running a hand down his face. “you both need to shut up.”
jisung sat up, eyes gleaming. “you did kiss her, didn’t you?”
seungmin exhaled, grabbed a water bottle, and took a long sip.
minho raised a brow. “he’s avoiding.”
“he’s totally avoiding.”
seungmin sighed, leaning against the counter. “i hate both of you.”
jisung grinned. “we love you too.”
minho smirked, setting his cup down. “so? how was it?”
seungmin scoffed. “what is wrong with you people?”
jisung gasped dramatically. “you didn’t like it?”
seungmin froze for half a second.
jisung smirked. “ohhh, you totally did.”
minho nodded, smug. “he liked it.”
seungmin rolled his eyes. “shut up.”
jisung grinned, leaning back. “it’s okay, you can tell us. we don’t judge.”
minho nodded, taking another sip of his coffee. “we definitely judge.”
seungmin exhaled. “i hate you both.”
jisung smirked. “we know.” . . . “so…” rina wiggled her brows. “you’re seeing him again tomorrow?”
y/n groaned, collapsing onto the couch. “i see him everyday.”
felix smirked. “because you love him.”
y/n choked. “i do not—”
hyunjin held up his hands. “we’re just saying.”
aeri snickered. “you so do.”
y/n grabbed a cushion and screamed into it.
her friends just laughed.
meanwhile, back in seungmin’s dorm, minho stretched, setting his cup down. “so, what now?”
seungmin shrugged. “dunno.”
jisung smirked. “you gonna kiss her again?”
seungmin grabbed his pillow and chucked it at him.
jisung yelped.
minho snickered.
seungmin just leaned back against the couch, arms crossed, watching jisung groan into the pillow.
he would kiss her again.
he absolutely would.
but they didn’t need to know that.
yet.
“not like you two didn’t kiss or do each other while you had the dorm to yourself.”
minho didn’t even blink.
jisung, however. jisung choked on his own breath.
minho exhaled. “ah.”
minho took another sip of his coffee, unbothered. “he has a point.”
jisung spluttered. “excuse me?”
seungmin smirked. “you’re telling me you guys were alone for hours and did nothing?”
minho shrugged. “not my fault if he’s loud.”
jisung died. “i was not loud.”
minho hummed, setting his coffee down. “mm. sure.”
seungmin snorted. “see? it’s so obvious.”
jisung clutched his chest. “i hate you both.”
minho stretched. “no, you don’t.”
jisung threw a pillow at him.
seungmin just sat back, grinning, absolutely enjoying this.
jisung groaned, burying his face in his hands. “i hate my life.”
minho patted his head. “that’s okay. i love you.”
seungmin smirked. “aw.”
jisung screamed into his hands.

song rec: i like the way you kiss me - artemas (✨ male manipulation: the song ✨)
ᴘʀᴇᴠ | ꜰꜰꜰ ᴍᴀꜱᴛᴇʀʟɪꜱᴛ | ɴᴇxᴛ
“Smile for the camera, pretty girl,” San, the frat boy you’ve been in love with for ages, encouraged you from behind the lens of the camcorder he was holding, his smooth baritone voice like saccharine, artificial, yet sweet enough to trap and drown you in. It was when you offered him a small, shy smile through the camera lense, despite the shamelessness of your current position, that he knew he had struck gold.
San was filming one of the first of many future encounters you would be having on the expansive black leather couch inside their crowded frat den. You were stuffed to the absolute brim by two of his closest colleagues, Yunho and Mingi, who always refused to participate unless they were working together as a duo.
“Stop looking at me like that, dude,” Mingi huffed up at Yunho from below the both of you, his shoulders and back routinely getting stuck to the couch with sweat.
“Like what?” Yunho scoffed back, leaning further down onto your body to get closer to Mingi, essentially folding you in half, his hands closing around your ankles.
“Like you wanna kiss me. You’re gonna make me soft.” Mingi grimaced, pushing Yunho’s hands out of the way to hold onto your ankles instead, driving himself into you like a well oiled machine. He was throbbing nonstop, but there was absolutely no proof that it was because of his friend’s heavy cock rubbing along his inside the cunt they were sharing.
You could feel Yunho’s breath hit your shoulder when he laughed. “Skill issue,” Yunho simply replied, delighted when Mingi bucked up into you even harder, encouraging him to do the same.
Clearly, there was something vaguely homoerotic going on there, but it wasn’t San’s business, and he definitely had better things to focus on — you, his newest pupil. He watched you with dollar signs in his bright brown eyes and the taste of cheap vodka on his tongue, unable to keep himself from licking repeatedly at his chapped lips, especially now that the innocent classmate he had recently taken a liking to had no problem taking two cocks at once inside her puffy, used cunt, while he, his bros, and his trusty camcorder had a front row seat to her mutually beneficial destruction.
“Look at you, so flexible…Are you sure you haven’t done this before, Y/N?” San teased, lowering the camera down until his sharp feline eyes were visible.
“N-no, I swear!” you squeaked out, the growing embarrassment you felt only spurring all of this newfound pleasure you were drunk on. “Just wanna, nnngh–be good for you…”
“Oh, that’s right. Silly me. You’re being a very good girl right now, baby, Don’t worry.” San couldn’t help but smile at the way you seemed to melt in front of him. It was just too easy. He glanced down at the camera, zooming in and capturing the moment his friends filled you up with their hot loads, the bliss evident on your fucked-out face. “That’s it, baby. Are you happy you stuck around here with us instead of going back to your dorm to do homework? Taking cock is much more fun, isn’t it, beautiful?”
“So much more fun,” you sighed out, your pupils blown out just from looking at his devastatingly handsome face. It was then that you pouted. You were only here because you were in love with San, and yet, it wasn’t even his dick inside you. It wasn’t fair. “But, I’d have even more fun with you, Sannie~”
“Is that so…?” San gave a brief shit-eating smirk to one of his boys nearby, reaching down to grab at himself through his sweatpants, like he was weighing it. “It’s right here, baby. Why don’t you show us what that pretty mouth can do?”
Both Mingi and Yunho slowed down their thrusts, but didn’t completely pull out, choosing to leisurely fuck their cum back into you, as they fought to catch their breath.
“What a loser, cumming first like that,” Mingi insulted Yunho, licking at the saliva left on his lips.
“Your mom doesn’t have a problem with it,” Yunho chided back, reaching down past your body to smack his hand into the side of Mingi’s ass.
“Goddamn it, you guys, I’m gonna have to edit that gay shit out.” San brought a hand up to scratch at his head in frustration. “You know what, both of you, get out of my shot and sword fight somewhere else. I’m not doing this right now,” San grumbled, shooing the two panting men away from the couch they had just made a mess on.
“Bro acts like we don’t know about his late night tutoring sessions with Wooyoung,” Yunho whispered to Mingi, trying to stifle his laughter.
Mingi almost choked on his breath. “Don’t forget, Yeosang. San doesn’t even take physics anymore, either. Yet, he still visits that nerd every Friday like clockwork.”
“Dude, aren’t they roommates?” Yunho cupped his hand around the side of his mouth, still using a hushed tone, “Do you think they run a train on–”
“Hey! Don’t make me haze the two of you again just for fun…” San warned from the center of the room, glaring daggers at the two men who went quiet almost immediately. The frat leader’s annoyance abruptly melted away when you gingerly reached up to pull his sweatpants down until the frat emblem that was stitched into the thigh pocket was no longer visible. It was when San smacked his heavy length down onto your face, that you let out a pornstar worthy moan. Cha-ching. “Oh, you like that? Hm? Want my cock?”
“Mm-hmm…” You couldn’t close your thighs to keep more arousal from gushing out when San’s cock slapped down onto your face a second time, parting your lips to lick at his pre-cum. You wondered if it was obvious how truly desperate you were for the man standing above. “Please, give it to me, Sannie, f-fuck my mouth.”
San could not believe his luck. His loyal fanbase would absolutely have a field day with this as soon as he uploaded it. He could already see the cash flowing in, and it made him rock hard. He sighed happily to himself, running his fingers through your hair, carefully tucking a few strands behind your ear. “It’s really true what they say…the shy ones are always the most slutty.”
*“I’m not a slut, I just–” you cut yourself off, not wanting to confess to San right before you were about to suck him off in front of his fraternity and whichever degenerate that would be watching it back later on. You pouted again, looking up at him with wide, sparkly eyes. “I want to be useful to you, like a doll~”
“Did you hear that, everyone? Our Y/N here is a real life doll. Let’s treat her as such,” San reminded his friends and housemates who couldn’t help but hover around the couch, a few of them sharing knowing smiles with one another.
Your heart began to thump away inside your chest, unable to believe that your long-time crush was giving you so much of his attention and affection. It was like a dream come true. As soon as you opened your mouth to take in a shaky breath, San tightened his grip around your hair, yanking you forward and stuffing your mouth full of cock. “Mmnnf…!”
Clutching the camera with one hand and the makeshift ponytail he created near the back of your head, San began thrusting sloppily into your open mouth, groaning at the slick sensation of your esophagus routinely closing around his moving cockhead. “Come on, doll, let me in, yeah? So Sannie can fuck your throat raw.”
San wasn’t lying. With each wet, rough thrust, he got closer and closer to doing what he promised you. “Mmmn…nnn…” You couldn’t tell if the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes were the result of San’s dizzying performance or the burning arousal you felt stirring inside your core simply from being watched by a room full of men you didn’t know.
“Aww, crying already, princess? I’ll give you something to really cry about when I’m breeding that pretty cunt of yours,” San chuckled darkly, his strong hips snapping relentlessly, his pace only beginning to falter once he saw escaping drool mixed with his pre-cum dripping down past your chin and down in between your tits. You were becoming a mess. It was going to make the frat leader bust any second. The borderline obsessive look you had inside your teary eyes didn’t help either. “Fuck, oh god– Somebody take the goddamn camera!”
The youngest of the group fumbled to grab the camera, using his jacket sleeve to rub the fingerprints off of the lens, before lifting it up, capturing the exact moment San pulled out of your mouth with a loud ‘pop’ and slid his cock along in between your glistening tits.
San turned to face the camera for a second, dimples flashing, squishing your tits in between his thick fingers as he fucked them. “See, you guys? This is how you use a doll to her maximum potential,” he explained as though he were a professor on campus. “Just look at her face. She loves it.”
Instead of trying to focus on the camera, you gazed directly up at him, your cheeks warm to the touch, still love-struck, even when San’s load landed all over your face. You simply licked away what had landed on your lips, sucking the rest off the frat leader’s fingers once he so lovingly fed it to you.
San nodded his head in approval, patting yours in an effort to reward you for your hard work. “That’s a good girl…” He tilted his head to the side. “Let’s see what else our pretty doll can do. Sound good?”
“Really good,” you chimed, licking at your swollen lips, savoring San’s essence.
Wedding bells were ringing in the distance. You would do anything for San, and that meant letting him treat you like a sex doll and fuck you in any position he saw fit for the next hour. By the time your knees gave out from cumming for the nth time, San had you in a full nelson in the middle of the couch, positioned behind you with his arms locked around your upper half, making sure your used, feverish body was on complete display.
“Sannie…gonna…cum…again,” you breathed out in between a few heavy moans, your head feeling so heavy that you just let it hang for a second.
San repositioned himself so that he could clutch your chin, tilting it upwards. His free hand snaked around your waist, laying his palm flat on your tummy, suddenly driving his cock up into you so hard, you couldn’t even speak if you wanted to. “Hey, be a good slut and let them see what you look like when you’re cumming your brains out.”
You simply looked up at the blurry camera past your teary lashes, letting out a choked gasp once you barreled over the edge of ecstasy. You didn’t have a chance to recover from the overwhelming pleasure, especially not when San pressed his hand down firmly onto the bulge his cock was routinely making inside your stomach. “P-please..! Sannie..!”
You want another load? Fuck, baby.” Groaning, San took a second to lick one of the tears that was rolling along your cheek before it dropped, his hips slamming against yours so quick, you were already developing bruises, ones that would accompany the bright red love bites scattered across your slick skin. He pressed his lips directly to your ear, nibbling on your lobe. “You know, seeing you in class and on campus, I never would’ve pegged you as a filthy cumdump, but everyone enjoys a good surprise every now and then…don’t they?”
“Yes–yes, yes, yes,” you chanted back, too cockdrunk to even fully process what San was saying, just focused on how full you felt, and how you needed more.
“Mm, I got a surprise for you.” Grunting loudly, San lowered his hips and slammed them up into you one last time, holding your trembling body still, painting your pulsing walls white. “Now, say ‘thank you, Sannie.’”
“Thank you, Sannie.” You leaned your head back to nuzzle the side of his cheek, placing your hands over his, feeling him rubbing your lower stomach in small circles, his cock still fully sheathed inside you.
“Anytime, sugar.” San gave your hair a few strokes as a reward, before pulling out and climbing off of the couch. He took the camera back from the new guy and snapped his fingers at a few of the bricked up housemates standing nearby, pointing in your direction. “Now, show me what you’re really made of.” San gave you a charming, dimpled smile. “Make me proud, okay?”
As a few half naked strangers surrounded you on all sides of the couch, some of them reaching out to grope your warm body, you returned San’s smile, your heart skipping a beat or two. “I’ll give it my best just for you~”
Throughout the night, San, alongside his fraternity, conditioned you with care, meticulously molded you into a star, one they eagerly passed around, easily making your tape one of the longest in their exclusive film collection. It wasn’t difficult, by any means. You were, of course, the perfect specimen: passive, pliant, and poisoned by the oxytocin that swam inside your brain.
Even when you were being used by more men than you could count, you couldn’t keep your attention off of Sannie, his handsome face only growing blurry when someone would make you gag on their cock, as you didn’t have the most experience with men of their size. You wanted San to yourself again, desperately wishing you could reach out for him instead of another stranger’s twitching erection — but you endured it all, falling further into the rabbit hole of pleasure for the sake of your whirlwind infatuation.
Everyone in the frat house deeply appreciated your dedication to their amateur film, especially San, who, by the end of it, secured the perfect spot to capture your destruction. Two of his older friends had just finished inside you, their spent cocks slipping out of your used hole and revealing the beautiful mess they left.
Crouched down in front of the couch, San reached out past the camcorder to spread your puffy lips apart, each and every load you took over the past hour now slowly spilling out onto his veined hand. “Look at this pretty cunt, you guys…so full of cum, it won’t stop coming out…” He panned up to your face with the camera, giving you a wicked smile from behind it. “You’ll be pregnant in no time, won’t you, doll? With whose baby, I wonder…”
After all that, you somehow managed to act shy, covering your flushed face, giving San heart eyes past your trembling fingers. “Hopefully yours…”
“Oh, princess.” San gently rubbed his fingers over your reddened cunt and clit, cum still dribbling out of you all the while. “I don’t think you realize how cute you’re being right now~ Almost like you didn’t just slut yourself out for everyone to see, huh? Mm, do you feel cute, Y/N?” San asked in a babying tone, as he slowly stood up and towered over you.
“You make me feel cute…” You nuzzled your cheek into the palm of San’s warm hand once he offered it to you, hoping you secured a spot inside his heart after all the hard work you put in. “I would keep going for you if I could still feel my legs.”
“Aww, there’s always next time, isn’t there?” he suggested slyly, rubbing away some leftover cum from your cheek before caressing the side of your face. “Do you have anything to say to our loyal fanbase, baby?”
“I love cock, especially yours, Sannie,” you slurred lovingly up at San, through the camera lens, licking your lips, mouth watering at the thought of being invited again to film another movie. “So give me a call, okay?”
“Oh, I will, believe me.” A smug laugh erupted from San’s puffed-out chest, as he aimed the camera at his pretty boy face for a second to announce, “We’ve officially turned another good girl into a filthy cumslut. If you’d like to watch the transformation happen in real time, feel free to stop by our frat. For extra, we’ll let you have a go.” And with that, he shut the camcorder off and pushed it into the youngest member’s chest, who looked at him with wide eyes. “Fuck it, we might even give you a turn.”
The freshman choked on his spit. “R-really?”
“I’m feeling nice today.” San sighed, running his fingers through his gelled up hair to fix it. When the young man just stood there drooling, the frat leader grimaced. “Upload this to all our sites ASAP, and don’t forget about our twitter page this time,” he demanded, rolling his eyes when he saw the cum stains the embarrassed student left behind on his pants. “And, for fuck’s sake, will you take care of that?”
As another member brought a can of beer over to San, the frat leader took it and cracked it open. “Can you believe that guy? He’s been here for, what, a month now? And he’s still creaming pants like a virgin? Unbelievable.”
As you gingerly put your clothes back on, you watched San move around the frat to dab up and celebrate their future income with all his friends. You couldn’t help but let out a long, lovesick sigh. He would be yours one day. Until then, you would take what you could get, and of course, be his star.

──────・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ──────
The silence in the room made every minuet feel like an eternity. No one dared to speak. You could feel your pulse rise as the clock hand inched closer to the number nine. This morning you had gotten ready on auto piolet, showered and once again put on your wrinkled shirt. You hadn’t bothered investing in any new clothing since you began working with Pietro. The lack of dress code made you feel like it wasn’t necessary, so this was still your most professional shirt. It was the same one you’d worn your first day here, now you worried this would be your last.
Sleep hadn’t come fast last night. You’d stayed up for hours running possible situations and outcomes, planning what you’d say for each one in excruciating detail. But by the time morning came all those preparations were gone from your mind. The only thing you could focus on was the memory of Wanda catching you in her office.
She looked so angry.
You blinked away the sting in your eyes and nose, not wanting to cry, not now at least. That could Wait till after the meeting, when you could lock yourself in the bathroom away from prying eyes.
The clock reached nine and the doors to the conference room flung open, Wanda entered leaving the door to slam shut behind her. Everyone in the room sat up straight and turned their attention to the red head, everyone but you. You couldn’t bring yourself to look, instead keeping your head down hoping the ground would swallow you whole.
“Good morning,” Wanda began as she retrieved some papers from her briefcase, “I know I’m taking you away from your work, but I wouldn’t have called this meeting if there wasn’t something important that needs to be discussed.” Her tone was polite, but anger was bubbling underneath. As she finished speaking her eyes scanned the room, eventually landing on you. Wanda faced twitched with annoyance at fact you weren’t looking at her. She cleared her thought before continuing. “Once I have everyone’s attention, I’ll tell you why you’re all here, or better why one of you isn’t.”
You took the hint and slowly raised your head, not expecting to find Wanda staring directly at you, stern eyes softening for a moment before hardening back over. Her words finally reached your brain, and you glanced quickly around table, the other interns seemingly doing the same.
Theo.
Theo wasn’t there. He hadn’t come in with Wanda, which was strange considering how he’d normally be following her around like a lost dog.
“I expect you to already know this, but Westview Paper is the most trusted news sources in the country,” Wanda paced at the front of the room, her voice and posture portraying nothing but power. “We take pride in being able to provide the American public with honest unbiased reporting. So what do you think might happen if an employee threatened that reputation?” She was now stood directly behind you; the room fell so silent you could hear your heart as it raced.
“They would be fired.” The silence was broken by an intern sat across from you. Despite his suit probably being worth more than you all make a month, fit him like a kid playing dress up in his days wardrobe, and he looked like he’d just been caught. Wanda let his words hang in the air for an uncomfortably long time.
“Yes, thank you Jake. They would be fired.” As Wanda moved back to the front of the room her fingers ghosted the nape of your neck, something so innocuous it could have easily been an accident. “Theo had gone behind my back, fed information about stories we were publishing to outsiders, and all to boost his stock portfolio.” Her voice dripped with distain. “He is no longer working here, in fact, he will no longer be working for any publisher this side of the Atlantic Ocean.” She gave her words time to breath, making sure we all understood the gravity of the situation. Your mind went back to yesterday, standing in her office when she came out angrily yelling down the phone, that’s what she was talking about.
“Now I called this meeting as a warning to all of you. You aren’t children anymore, this is the real world, your actions have consequences that go far beyond timeouts, or early bedtimes. So if any of you even think about trying anything that will tarnish the reputation of this organization, I want you to really consider what it means to throw your life away! A life that, I might add, for most in here was handed to them. Dismissed.” With every sentence her voice grew louder, the anger finally bubbling over as she slammed her fits onto the table.
There was a mad scramble for the door as everyone collected their things and piled out the room.
“Y/n, I want to have a word with you.” Wanda called out with a lingering trace of rage. The other interns turned to look at you as you awkwardly shuffled back from the door. Your anxiety was already high and now you truly felt like you were going to combust. It took a moment for the room to clear but once it had, and the door closed you jumped into speech.
“Ms Maximoff, I’m so sorry, Pietro said it was okay, not that it’s his fault, I should have never invaded your privacy like that.” The word vomit just kept coming. “I was just meant to drop off the magazine and leave, I shouldn’t have stayed as long as I did. I’m so sorry, I understand if you want to fire me.” With those last words your lip wobbled, and you could do nothing to stop the tears.
Wanda, who up until now had been watching you ramble with slight bewilderment, moved to comfort you. “Y/n. I’m not going to fire you, don’t be silly,” she shushed, placing a hand on your shoulder and motioning for you to sit down, “quite the opposite actually.” You sat down trying your hardest to steady your breathing. “What do you mean?” You asked, wiping your nose with your sleeve before Wanda instinctively handed you a tissue from the box on the table.
“First, I wanted to ask if you were okay.” She leaned in placing a gentle hand on your knee. “Yesterday, in my office, you left so quickly. I was worried about you.”
“You were worried about me?”
“Yes, y/n! I was because…” Wanda stopped herself and leaned back in her chair. “Because you are my employee, and I think you have a promising future here at Westview.” You go to speak but Wanda continues, “Which is why secondly, I wanted to ask if you would be interested in taking over as my intern. I can give you some time to think about…”
“Yes!” You blurted out a little louder than expected, your cheeks flushed as you saw Wanda’s shocked expression. “I mean yes Ms… I would… I’m sorry I didn’t mean to. It’s just… are you sure you want me?” Before you could start to spiral again, you were brought back to reality by the sound of Wanda giggling.
“I’ve wanted you from the start.” She stood up and began walking to the conference room’s door. “For the position of course.” She added before leaving.
As you sat alone in the room you couldn’t help it as a smile crept across your face. You were going to be her intern! Then the reality of the situation hit you. You were going to be her intern.

Clone Danny long post
The footprints lead Alfred out of the room and to the right but quickly dried up on the short hair carpet.
Alfred checked every room to the right of Danny's. He had to have left the family wing. 40 minutes of searching later, Alfred was about to go down yet another hallway when he heard faint music and metal clanging. He walked closer to the sound until he could make out some words.
🎶I- can hear the sound of violins🎶
🎶long before- it begins🎶
The gym. Someone is at the gym. He told Dick to relax. This is the opposite of relaxing. He stops for a moment outside the door to gather himself. People listen to empathy more than anger. When Alfred pushed the door open and looked down at the workout area, he didn't see a disobedient clown. No. Instead, he was forcibly dragged back to 1989, staring at a 13 year old Bruce doing chest presses. He always looked the most at ease when he was at the gym. The rest of the time, he would be looking for his parents' killer or discovering seacret organizations. Alfred used to cherish the time Bruce spent at the gym because he knew it was the closest he could get to calm. Shortly, Danny put down his 3 kg weights and addressed Alfred.
"Morning, Alfred. Breakfast already? Thought I had more time." He sounded like Bruce, more than just his voice. Danny had his own way of talking, but this was all Bruce.
"Young Master," best not to object to his perceived reality, whatever that may be. "It's almost seven in the afternoon, not morning." The sun would have spoiled that for him anyway. "And dinner will be ready in two hours."
"Oh, ok. I'll be there at nine then." Danny simply went over to the next station in his routine. Right as he sat down on the floor, something seemed to dawn on him. "Alfred? Did something happen to me?" He asked innocently.
Alfred remained frozen, staring at the young boy. "What would give you that idea?"
"I woke up in a different room than usual, I had to switch down all my weights, and the files in my father's office have been moved. And then you came in looking like you've seen a ghost." Ever the detective.
"Nothing gets past you. I'm afraid you had a rather bad fever and spent a few days in bed. I would like to examine your health, but it can wait. Let's say, eight-thirty? Before dinner?"
"Kitchen at eight-thirty, got it."
Alfred left the room and braced himself on the door. He thinks he's Bruce. He probably thinks it's the 80s or 90s, too. It's a good thing most everyone is out hunting down clues and/or committing extreme acts of violence.
Danny had changed into an all black suit (bowtie and kerchief included) before coming to the kitchen at 8:27. Hmm, he does like to be punctual. His temperature and heart rate were normal, for once he didn't have bags under his eyes, which responded in time to light. But, he was definitely younger than he was when he arrived. Dick wasn't imagining that.
"Can you tell me your name, age, and today's date?"
"Bruce Thomas Wayne, 12, almost 13, today is November, uh," He struggled a bit. "17th? Maybe a bit later, 1988." He avoided eye contact. "Just so we're clear, I wouldn't have known today's date even if I hadn't been sick."
Alfred smiled a little, remembering how much he used to care about getting good scores on everything. "I'll be sure to include that in the report." He retorted sarcastically, earning a small grin back. "Now go wash up, dinners almost ready."
As per routine, Alfred started by bringing out the helthiest dishes. They all knew it was a trick to get them to eat vegetables, but no one was ever willing to wait. Danny was so hungry, even the brussel sprouts were appetizing. Now if Alfred could just stop staring at him and actually put the container on the table.
"Alfred?"
"W, what?"
"Are you OK?"
Danny had combed his hair when he'd asked him to wash up. This was Bruce. This was the boy Alfred raised. The one who had fallen asleep in his arms every night for months because he refused to be alone in the dark. The one who used to "forget" to tell Alfred about the handfuls of peanut butter in his pockets, ruining thousand dollars dress pants on six different occasions. The one who wanted to keep street cats knowing full well he was allergic.
"Do you need a day off? Or maybe a week?"
"What? No. I'm alright master Bruce. Just, uhm, glad to see you have your appetite back. That's all." Keep it together now. He set down a steaming glass dish full of baked carrots, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, onions, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and mushrooms.
Danny took as big a serving as he could fit (vegetables can only go in the top right on his plate), making sure not to let the butter run too much. The next dish was steamed turnip. Crap. Another vegetable. Can't mix them. Can't put it somewhere else. The only option is to finish the baked vegetables fast.
By the time he finished his quarter of a turnip, six more dishes had already shown up. How many people does Alfred think live here?
At 21:11 Dick walked into the dining room. Dressed in a plain shirt and pants. The two boys looked like they were going to entirely different events.
"Hello." Danny invited. "I'm sorry, have we met?"
"This gentleman is detective Richard Grayson." Alfred interjected. "Master Dick, would you care to join us for dinner?"
"Oh, where are my manners? Here, have a seat. There's plenty of food."
The dinner after that was awkward, but nice. It's good to have some company once in a while. Ever since his parents died, it's just been him and Alfred.
He did wake up late in the afternoon, so it shouldn't be such a surprise that he got to stay up and watch his gray ghost VHS tapes way later than his usual bedtime. Only interrupted occasionally by Alfred, making sure he's keeping all that food down. He had to have been really sick. He doesn't even remember throwing up recently.
He must have dosed off at some point because he was awoken abruptly at some horrid hour of the night by an ear pierceing scream. He hurried to its sorce in the family wing where he saw what looked like another Bruce, except this one had white hair and wore a black onesie. He appeared to be melting into a glowing green sludge. Bruce knelt down and grabbed the boy, who stopped screaming. Opting to bury his face in Bruce's chest instead.
Alfred came just as the gruesome scene was over. 4:50 am, same place, same time, every night. Alfred had hoped something had improved when the screaming stopped early. But rather than the typical gorey mess, there was Danny, inconsolable and covered in slime.
"Wh, wh, ah?" Who was that? What was that?? Why was that???
"Master da- Bruce." At lightning speed, Alfred was on his knees and holding Danny. "Come on, you don't have to be here." He tried to lift him up, but Danny resisted.
"...Why do you have the carpet cleaner?" He accused. "Did you know this would happen?"

You started these tags with "oof" and I went back to re-read the second part of this post and... yeah, oof is about how I feel, too. Oh how hopeful I was for something good to come out of that show, BOTH shows actually since I was looking at Mandalorian season 3 as well it seems.
This post is already a little long, so I'll put the rest under a cut, but tl;dr is that I think you're giving the people writing in the Mandoverse SO MUCH more credit than they deserve and they'll likely never do anything good or creative with these characters again.
I don't think that making Sabine a Jedi had anything to do with Sabine at all. A lot of people have pointed out that Sabine is acting like a bratty teenager despite being literally 30 years old and that she feels a lot like an ANAKIN stand-in so that Ahsoka can figure out her feelings about Anakin through her relationship to Sabine. We know that the Rebels Search for Ezra storyline got combined with Ahsoka's show and that they weren't originally intended to be the same story. So it makes sense that Ahsoka likely HAD a padawan-figure originally who was probably a new character and that they just replaced that character with Sabine when things got combined, regardless of what that would mean for Sabine's character.
Sabine doesn't even grow or learn anything by the end of the show. I've see people try to argue that when she left Ezra behind in order to save Ahsoka that it showed she'd grown from when she abandoned everything to save Ezra, except... she's literally just making the same choice for a different person. Thrawn is LEAVING and the whole point of jumping onto his ship is to try to STOP HIM or something, and instead of doing that and helping Ezra, she runs back because one person's life is at stake and now Ezra is alone on that ship and Sabine never has to face the consequences of her own actions. Personally, that doesn't feel like any actual growth to me or like she's learned from the mistake she made by going to get Ezra. The narrative itself doesn't even seem to think that it WAS a mistake she needs to learn from, which leaves her character with literally nowhere to go.
If they were going to bring her back to Mandalore as a leader, they probaby would've been EMPHASIZING her connection to Mandalore rather than basically erasing it. It would've made more sense to leave her family ALIVE, even just ONE of them, to give her more of a connection to that cause. But no, aside from her wearing the armor, there's absolutely no indication she gives a flying shit about Mandalore or its people anymore.
So even if they DID start pushing Sabine in the direction of being a leader again, I wouldn't like it. THIS Sabine should never lead anybody ever. THIS Sabine is a selfish piece of shit who is willing to unleash Thrawn upon the galaxy just to get what she wants. REBELS era Sabine was awesome, and had the makings of a great ruler. REBELS era Sabine had learned mercy and patience and selflessness by the end of the show, while THIS fucking Sabine is impatient, impetuous, irresponsible, and selfish. Nobody should EVER allow the Ahsoka show version of Sabine anywhere NEAR a leadership position, and if they try to do it, it'll just be unbelievably bad writing. Perhaps hilariously bad writing, it could be amusing to see them attempt to make that claim, but it'd still be bad.
And, as you mentioned, they've already put Bo-Katan in as the leader of Mandalore for the THIRD TIME and, ostensibly, destroyed the Dark Saber. There doesn't seem to be any real planning around who gets put in as the leader of Mandalore, to be honest, it just kind-of flip flops and goes to whoever they deem most convenient in the moment. Sabine was being set up for it for a minute until they decided it would be problematic with what they wanted to do with her later in Rebels, so they threw it at Bo-Katan with no good reason. Then they took it away from Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian so that they could set Din up to take on leadership of Mandalore except that then they decided they didn't really like that so they abandoned all of that set-up and tossed it back at Bo-Katan because, hell, she's already there isn't she, might as well just give it back to her because THAT'S satisfying to see! So, sure, MAYBE they'll give it back to Sabine and take it away from Bo-Katan AGAIN later on, maybe Bo-Katan will die fighting Thrawn and so Sabine gets put back in as an option, but I don't have a single ounce of belief that it'll make any sense or feel in any way satisfying.
For all that the Mandoverse is focused on Mandalorians in the extreme, I don't feel like they're writing them all that well or care all that much about giving these characters good strong narratives. Sabine is just the latest in a string of terrible writing choices for their Mando characters.
Sabine Wren is not just the true wielder of the Darksaber, but the only one who should’ve been chosen to rule Mandalore and I will die on that hill.
The entire point of Sabine’s whole arc through the show is that she is learning JEDI VALUES, that she’s learning that the Mandalorian way has its place, but it also has so many flaws and that it’s what has led Mandalore to fight itself into dust. She’s impatient and distrustful and learns to listen with Hera about Fulcrum. She’s more inclined to kill someone out of anger until she learns the value of mercy and second chances from Kanan with Fenn Rau. She tries to pretend her problems don’t exist and won’t truly face them until she learns to wield the Darksaber with Kanan and then goes to make amends with her family. The entire episode with her familiy shows how Sabine brings together everything she’s learned: she waits and listens to her family’s grievances, understanding exactly how her actions impacted them, and then she shows mercy to Gar Saxon rather than killing him after her win like a true Mandalorian would.
Having Bo-Katan claim that the Mandalorian way is a way of MERCY, when we’re intentionally told and shown that Sabine’s willingness to show mercy explicitly goes against her Mandalorian upbringing and teachings and was something she learned from Hera, and from Kanan and his Jedi teachings, is really insulting. The Mandalorian way, as shown through Rebels, is NOT one of mercy, that’s the entire point. Sabine recognizes that, recognizes that that’s what’s caused them so much misery, caused them to turn on each other so much that their planet hasn’t ever had the chance to heal and regrow.
Bo-Katan even says IN THIS EPISODE that Sabine represents the best of what they have been in the past as well as the best of what they could someday become. That Sabine is a true leader.
To have Sabine turn around and say that the Darksaber came to her, after she EARNED IT, for the FIRST time since Tarre Viszla she truly EARNED the Darksaber, just so she could pass it on to Bo-Katan, someone who once gleefully helped set a village on fire after the people she was helping subjugate tried to resist?
I’m sorry, but no.
Sabine Wren is Tarre Viszla’s true successor. Not just as the wielder of the Darksaber, but as Mandalore’s uniter, as its truest ruler. Sabine Wren has the patience and mercy and wisdom of a Jedi with the passion and mettle of a Mandalorian warrior. She has learned to listen as well as she fights, and she has learned how to appreciate different points of view and how to bring them together to create a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
The Darksaber came to her because Sabine Wren always had the capacity to use it to fulfill Tarre Viszla’s vision, to unite Mandalore, to save it from itself, to make it more than it is. The Darksaber came to her specifically because Sabine has the greatest ability to lead Mandalore into a peaceful future.

Regulus, unlike most people, likes the fact that his building doesn’t have a laundry room. He’s somewhat less fond of the lack of heating, but he quite likes the romance of going to a laundromat. Of sitting on those plastic chairs and staring at the dizzying spin of clothes in the machine, the way they tumble in the dryer.
So every Wednesday, which has been laundry day for about as long as he can remember, he packs up his laundry and walks down seven flights of stairs, because of course the elevator doesn’t work in his building either. He brings his headphones and lets the weight of loose change in his pocket ground him.
He greets the laundromat clerk, someone his age who looks like he’s never even heard of ironing his clothes. His hair always looks disheveled, like he rolls out of bed and goes straight to work, but he never tries to talk, which Regulus appreciates.
Regulus remembers hours spent sitting in front of the washing machine as a kid, watching it spin and spin and spin. It was equal parts dizzying and meditative.
He wondered, sometimes, if he could crawl in there. He was small enough (too small, his father's voice corrects). Maybe he could crawl in and spin and spin and spin and come out clean.
If he could not be new, he could at least be clean.
Because there's no washing off the person you are. No matter how hot your showers, no matter the fact that you scrub at your skin until it's raw and pink, no matter no matter no matter.
But sometimes, if you're lucky, you can wash off the person you are. Don a shiny new identity. Make everyone forget the person you were, make sure they only see the person you've become.
Sirius did it, once. Left and never came back and became someone new. Good. Worthy.
It was a Wednesday afternoon, probably, because Regulus had been sitting there, watching the machine spin and spin and spin. He heard Sirius' footsteps, despite his light tread. He heard the front door open. Heard it close again. He didn't realize, at the time, what it meant.
The tiny overhead doorbell jingles, and Regulus looks up almost instinctively. He knows the regulars on Wednesdays. The college student who exclusively wears Thrasher hoodies. The grandma and her dog who she dresses in human clothes.
But this time, it’s none of them. Regulus can’t help the way his heart stutters, a harsh thud, when he lays eyes on the man walking in.
He looks handsome even in the glaring lights of the laundromat. The tiled walls and floors don’t cut him into flat planes. Instead, they soften his edges, cast him in a dreamy glow.
Regulus faintly thinks the man looks like a detergent advertisement.
The man tugs his gloves off and unwinds his scarf from around his neck, the protection against the winter cold excessive in the heat of the laundromat. He’s wearing a dark green sweater, made darker still by the stain that covers most of the front.
Regulus forces his eyes back to the washing machine, watching it spin and spin and spin, until a heavy coat drops down on the seat next to him. The man peels off the sweater revealing a white t-shirt. Regulus sees a thin golden chain disappear under the collar of the shirt.
When the man catches Regulus staring, he lifts his shoulders in a shrug, a bashful smile on his face.
“There was an incident involving a child and hot chocolate and favorite sweater was the unfortunate casualty.” He shakes the sweater a little as if to offer proof. “Didn’t want the stain to set, so here we are.”
“Need a hand?” Regulus asks, but he’s already pushing himself out of his chair before the man has a chance to reply.
The man blinks, surprised. Fair enough, Regulus has never been accused of being polite or helpful. Something to do with the permanent frown of his face, the rigid line of his shoulders.
“Yeah, that’d be— Thanks.”
“You can just put it in,” Regulus says, inclining his head toward the machine. “I’ll grab some detergent.”
Because, sure, he wants to be helpful, but he’s not quite willing to offer up his own detergent, the vanilla cotton one that costs more than any detergent reasonably should. Thankfully this particular laundromat sells detergent by the dose for a few cents.
“Who’s your friend?” The clerk asks, leaning on the counter and glancing over Regulus’ shoulder.
“Not a friend, just helping him out,” Regulus says mildly, rifling through the different bottles of detergent until he finds the right one.
The clerk fixes him with a flat stare. “You’ve been coming here for months and never once have your tried to help someone.”
“Maybe because that’s literally your job,” Regulus quips. “Also ever heard of New Year’s resolutions?”
“It’s February. Little late for those, isn’t it?”
“Okay,” Regulus squints at the name tag, “Evan. Thank you so much for your input.”
“Oh, shit, wrong shirt again,” Evan (?) grumbles, fiddling with the tag on his shirt. “Boss is gonna kill me.”
Regulus opens his mouth to say— something, probably, but he decides he’s better off leaving it alone, so he fills a tiny cup with detergent, drops a few cents in the clerk’s hand and heads back to the machines.
He makes quick work of setting up the machine, selecting the shortest program, quick wash — 21 minutes.
“I’m James, by the way.”
Regulus settles back into his chair, offering his own name in return.
“Oh, like the star! That’s such a coincidence, one of my friends is also named after a star.”
Regulus’ mind flashes to another boy named after a star, but he pushes the thought away. “Yeah, well, you know what they say,” he mumbles awkwardly, unsure how to proceed and the floor unsteady under his feet even though he’s sitting.
“No?” James says, voice climbing and head tilted. He shoves his coat to the side, making space for himself next to Regulus. “What do they say?”
Great question. “Nothing, it’s— nothing.”
Spin and spin and spin, washing away sin and sin and sin.
“So,” James asks after a while, shifting in his seat to face Regulus. “You come here often? Wait, shit, that sounded like a bad pick-up line. I just meant that you seem to know your way around these things.”
“Yeah, my building doesn’t have a laundry room and this place is just down the street, so I’m here pretty much every week.”
“Cool,” James says, and the worst part is that he genuinely seems to find that cool. James pulls out his phone, and Regulus knows he should look away — privacy and all that, but Regulus isn’t looking at the screen at all. His eyes catch on James’ hands, big and veiny.
When James moves again, Regulus catches a whiff of his cologne. And Regulus tries to be normal about it, tries not to inhale too deeply and trap the scent into his lungs, but James smells woodsy and soft. Sunny pines, like forest green personified.
Regulus can picture him a swing seat on a porch on a cool summer evening, a breeze tousling his dark curls. Regulus blinks, suddenly back under the harsh glare of the laundromat lights.
“What about you?” James asks, expecting Regulus to know what he’s been talking about, which is a reasonable expectation, but there is unfortunately static in Regulus’ brain.
When Regulus is silent for too long, James laughs. It’s not a mean laugh, or a cruel one, like his mother’s laughter. It’s not at Regulus’ expense, like his father’s laughter. He feels warmed by the sound, and can’t help the bashful smile that appears on his face.
“I was just asking what you do for a living,” James repeats.
“Oh! I work at a bookstore. I’m the buyer for our children’s section, actually. And I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, hence the laundromat.”
“Do you have a favorite book?” James asks. Then he adds, “Personally, I’m a huge fan of Green Eggs and Ham.”
It’s a bad joke, really, but Regulus can’t help the amused huff that escapes him. James’ eyes brighten, leaning a little closer to Regulus as if desperate to hear it again. Like Regulus is the sun and James is a flower.
They talk while James’ sweater spins and spins and spins. Talk about books and movies and TV shows. They talk while Regulus unloads the dryer and folds his shirts, the fabric warm under his fingertips. He’s meticulous about it, moving slow despite the practice, desperate to prolong the interaction. Desperate to coax another laugh out of James, warm and low and rumbling.
Eventually though, he’s got all of his clothes sorted away in his bag, James’ sweater almost done washing and then needing a little while to dry, too.
But before Regulus can be too disappointed about it, James asks, “Same time next week?” His eyes are bright and soft behind his glasses, a tiny smudge right on the edge.
“Sure,” Regulus says. He tucks his smile away for safekeeping. When he gets back home, he drops it in the jar of pennies on his desk.
#james pulled a “looking confused at a laundromat” and it worked ://#happy birthday si!! hope you enjoy this little gift <33#james potter#regulus black#jegulus#jegulus microfic#mil's microfics#mil's writing

trey clover and responsibilities; a meta after his book 7 dream
[spoilers for jpn server book 7 content ahead!]
as the eldest brother trey has always been the 'responsible' one. but his wish is to live in peace, to never have expectations thrust onto him (hence his constant downplaying) but instead to use his passion and skill (baking), which is the one thing he doesn't downplay, to make the people around him happy. to see them smile while eating his food, to 'grow', for him to be able to see them enjoy themselves and for himself to do what he enjoys without restrictions. yet as cater reveals, not only did riddle freeze him out after his excitement (which as you can imagine, was painful for trey, as if the childhood scolding wasn't enough trauma. ESPECIALLY as he sees riddle as like a, to quote him, 'younger brother' thus 'his responsibility'), but he was voted for vice housewarden as a result. all these responsibilities and expectations were thrust upon him when all he ever wanted was for riddle to be 'free', for everyone to get along, for him to be useful to others. and so trey gets a first row seat to riddle and all his changes and his struggles and his anger, and he's forced to take a role and he ends up taking one of an enabler, someone passive. he ends up 'painting over it' and scrambling for a sense of normalcy amidst all this, and as vice housewarden the blanket of duty he feels heavily falls on him -- trey has always put importance on responsibility and his image, like when he talks about upperclassmen needing to set a good example for their juniors. and so he suppressed his own emotional turmoil and focused only on those around him, on sorting out trouble and pacifying riddle, while ignoring his own feelings on the matter and refusing to take a stand.
all this culminates into the overblot, and trey's book 7 dream with chenya as the dorm leader says it all -- trey wanted somebody to understand him. he wanted someone who knew he would have a tough time, who not just knew but understood his past with riddle and could help him through it, to not just alleviate him from responsibility but enable him to take a role where he thrives best. he needed somebody to rely on. for once, to not be the one being relied on. cater came the closest but cater also mentioned that he kept his distance (their friendship is a whole other can of worms) and trey isn't the type to confide, either. the 3 heartslabyul senpais are a concoction of things unsaid, and so comes ace and deuce and heartshackle to give it to them straight -- leading to the overblot, but also recovery. and so in the dream trey is once again, as leona aptly implied, putting himself in a position where 'he can help grant riddle's wish' or rather he can help riddle in finding freedom from his mother (in this case through sweets), in a bid to wrestle control where in reality he constantly felt helpless to say no or to stand up to riddle. and by thinking of it as something he can control, he indirect puts more responsibility onto himself in reality, despite never having wanted it. so he's stuck in this place where it's emphasised how in 'real life' trey has expectations and responsibilities he never wanted. he never got to have his peaceful life.
and in his dream, it's the exact opposite; the responsibilities he has are ones he chose/wants, and at the same time, he has his peaceful life. he makes those around him happy, and in turn, he is happy too.
#trey clover#twisted wonderland#twst#twisted wonderland spoilers#today all heartslabyul stans were fed feast after feast#riddle rosehearts#cater diamond#i have so many thoughts on his dream this is just part of it#and the whole cater diamond bystander thing?#trey saying his dorm duo dialogue with cater and ace saying his battle lines?#twst book 7 spoilers#twst book 7#twisted wonderland book 7#ace trappola#deuce spade#leona kingscholar#i love my third years#i'm sad the comedic parts seem to be overshadowing the serious parts#twst meta#twisted wonderland meta#twst jp spoilers#i need to talk about his overindulgence too#he always talks about moderation but in truth it's probably because when he goes overboard with things it's to a terrifying extent#be it with his passions or with spoiling people or in general#when he goes in he goes ALL IN#i think that's also core to his character i wished people realised it#heartslabyul

Spellbound Part 5
Hey guys!! Here we have the next part of this lovely fic. I've been steadily working on it, just not on WIP Wednesdays because... well... it's getting really spoiler-y and I don't want to ruin your fun.
In this we Chrissy acting suspicious and Steve deals with a couple of Fey. Yep. Fey.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
~
Steve decided that he was going to do his own errands this morning, as he had been using the kids after the attack on Bav to make sure she was going to be okay. But she nudged him out the door today with a basket full of his medicines.
His nosy curious nature brought him to the Munson’s door first, Wayne’s arthritis medicine in hand.
He knocked on the door and wasn’t surprised when Chrissy came out of it when it opened. He nodded. “Miss Cunningham.”
“Oh!” she cried, blushing bright red. “Hello, Steve! Wayne isn’t in right now, but I can take that for him.”
Steve stepped back, clutching the basket to his chest. “I’ve got other errands to run, I’ll just come back.”
She reached out for the basket and he took another step back. “It’s fine, Steve. I’ll make sure he gets them.”
Steve shook his head. He didn’t trust her. He tried scrying on her after Robin’s pronouncement that she was visiting Eddie and couldn’t. He wasn’t sure why, but he didn’t want to find out.
“I’ll come back,” he said, firmly. “Have a good a day!” He turned on his heel and hurried down the path, careful not to look back. His heart was going a mile a minute and his lungs tightened around his quickening breaths.
Behind him he heard Eddie’s voice call out, “Who was that?”
“No one,” was the unsettling response and then the sound of the door closing, echoed in his ears.
Steve hurried down the path. He didn’t know what her reasoning for lying was, but it sent a chill down his spine. There was something rotting in this town, but to be fair, that was why his mother sent him here in the first place. It was too closed off for a town of it’s side to be normal.
He quickly finished his errands, with the head of the watch’s house last. Jim Hopper was a good man who had left Hawkins to start a new life, but had come back after the death of his daughter and his wife subsequent descent into madness.
Wayne wasn’t the only one to use his arthritis medicine, Jim used it often too. Especially after a long day out in the rain.
Steve enjoyed visiting Jim for another reason.
“Steve!” a voice cried out and suddenly he had a armful.
Steve wrapped his arms around her and held her tight. “Good afternoon, Elinor, is your dad home?”
The little girl looked up at him with a big grin. “Yes, he’s home. But so is Father and Mother...”
Ah. That would explain how gleeful she was.
Elinor Hopper was a changeling. She had been swapped with another child like they always were, but what they didn’t count on was the baby being dropped off at a way station and picked up by Jim Hopper. He, still grieving the loss of his own daughter, Sara, nursed the changeling back to health and properly took care of her.
And when the fae came to take back the stump they had used to swap create her, they found a happy, healthy child instead. A child they could not take back to the faerie lands without Hopper’s permission. One he refused to give.
Steve had managed to intervene in time before the sidhe got upset enough to raze the whole town. He got them all to agree to terms that Jim would raise Elinor as his own and she would return to the faerie lands when she was grown and could make her own decisions and they would pay for her upbringing.
After all, it was their fault she was created in the first place. It did make for some awkward moments over the years. Most when the fae got tired of paying for her upkeep and would show up to demand her back.
Honestly though, Steve thought it was the funniest thing because try as they might they could never get his name to bend him to their will. Because he would go by Jim or Hopper, never James. Steve didn’t think there was a single soul anywhere who knew it was for sure, James.
“I’ll go smooth things out again,” he promised kissing her forehead.
Steve walked into the house and there stood the most graceful, elegant beings you had ever seen. Both were tall and thin, but in an uncanny valley kind of way. Their hair was long and blond, coming to the middle of his back and her waist. Their eyes were a bright, unnatural blue and their clothing screamed wealth in ways no human could match.
“Lord Eanethreal, Lady Melisande,” he said bowing, “it is good to see you again.”
Both pairs of blue eyes and a third more natural pair of blue eyes turned to him. Steve looked unassuming most days, but not in that moment. Not then.
He stood up straight and his clothes that were a warm, olive green most of the time, had shifted from an earthy tone, to a glittering emerald green and on his head was a matching pointed hat that denoted his profession and rank. The change made the green in his own eyes stand out, making them more hazel than brown.
“Steven,” Lady Melisande said with a nod, though Lord Eanethreal just ignored him with a sniff. “We have come to take the child you call Elinor. She is missing vital teachings as she wastes away up here in the mortal realm.”
“That was not the bargain, my lady,” Steve said with a gentle smile, “as you well know. Would you really go back on our deal?”
That was when Lord Eanethreal took notice of him, spitting in anger. “It was a trick! A low down dirty trick and I refused to let it stand!”
Jim chuckled. “Don’t like it when it’s you on the receiving end, huh?” He shook his head in amusement.
“To break your word,” Steve warned, “once it freely given will bring a curse upon you for one hundred years. Is that really what you would like happen here today? Because you could take her, but there is no prison strong enough or deep enough to stop her from clawing her way back to Jim. So not only will you be cursed as the deal states, Elinor will have wrecked havoc on the faerie lands that will be felt for centuries and all because you doubt the love of this human man for that little girl.”
He pointed at Jim who glared at them, daring them to refute Steve’s statement.
Steve held Eanethreal’s gaze for a long moment before the fae lord broke contact first. He snarled something feral and dark, but suddenly pantry was full and the coffer overflowing. He turned on his heel and stormed out of the house, the smell of lightning crackling behind him in his wake.
Melisande shook her head. “My apologies, yet again. It is a sore spot for my husband to be bound to the mortal realm thusly.”
Steve bowed his head respectfully. “I understand, but the usual laws don’t apply here. He not the person you sought to punish by swapping out their baby for the changeling, and Elinor did not die as most do. So it created an unique situation that must have unusual rules.”
“There is wisdom in that,” she murmured. “I will try harder to convince him of such wisdom.” She nodded to Steve and swept out the door without so much as a backward glance to Jim.
Then Steve was back to his normal every day self. His head began to pound and he swayed on his feet.
Then everything thing went black.
~
When Steve woke up, he wasn’t surprised to see that he was laid out on Jim’s bed. No, what was surprising was that Eddie was there at the bedside looking concerned.
Steve blinked up at him in confusion. “Did I hit my head on the way down?”
Jim chuckled from behind Eddie. “No, kid. I caught you in time. Eddie was passing by when he saw our visitors and was curious as to the nature of our little get together.”
“That’s a whole story for someone other than me to tell,” Steve huffed, staying lying down. He knew his limits and he had blown past them. “Short version. I make the fae pay child support.”
Jim chuckled. “Steve just used too much of his power forcing the bastards to back down.”
“Why the hell would you need to use your powers to tell them to fuck off?” Eddie asked, frowning.
The room stopped spinning so he carefully sat up as Jim passed a plate of food over Eddie’s head. Steve took it with a grateful smile.
“Because they would only negotiate with those they deem equals,” Elinor said grimly. “If his power wasn’t half the level it should be, he wouldn't need to be using glamour to make himself look bigger to them.”
“Well, Miss Thing,” Steve teased, “unless you have a solution about unlocking my full potential that isn’t finding my soulmate, shush!”
Elinor giggled. “Nope, pretty sure that’s the only way.”
Eddie looked over his shoulder at her and then back at Steve. “I thought you didn’t hold to the notion that you were that ultra rare super witch or whatever you called it was.”
Steve sighed around a piece of bread and cheese, putting down the piece he had in his hand. “That’s what everyone thought were I grew up. That I just wasn’t as powerful as my mother because I’m a male witch, but...”
“Well that’s sexist,” Eddie huffed. “And I’m guessing that every soul powered super witch were lesbians?”
Steve burst out laughing. “Well no. A lot of male/female pairings in the centennial sorcerers as my Auntie Muriel liked to call them, a handful of lesbians, too. But the reason they didn’t–um... think it was me because there’s never been a male/male pairing in any record. Granted there hasn’t been that many because it’s once every hundred years...”
Eddie smiled. “Still out say the last ten or so, it’s never happened?”
Steve nodded. Not many people in the village knew that he was gay. In fact with the current mayor, it was a safe bet that no one outside his very intimate circle knew that fact.
“Still sexist, Steve,” he said softly. “You just said that about of a third of the most power witches were men if there were heterosexual powerful prestidigitators in the past. So your family just dismissed as being male without cause.”
Steve opened his mouth in shock. “Oh shit. I never thought of it that way. You’re right, that was pretty awful of them.”
Eddie smiled at him and then got to his feet. “Well, now that I know you didn’t kill yourself protecting the little miss, I’ll be on my way.”
“Since you’re here,” Steve said, pointing to the basket on the table, “you might as well take your uncle’s medicine with you. He was going to be my last stop.”
Eddie picked up the basket and one of the packets, frowning at them. He picked up the rest of the packets and tucked them into the safety of his inner pocket of vest.
“I’ll make sure he gets them,” he murmured. “Seriously though, you need to stop using up all your power to protect others, or you might just burn out before you meet your soulmate.”
Steve huffed a laugh. “I’ll probably never meet them here, this town isn’t very friendly for people like me.” He tilted the head to side. “The witch thing doesn’t help either.”
Eddie burst out laughing. “You really are something else, Harrington. Take care of yourself. you hear?”
“Will do,” Steve murmured softly. “Say hello to Wayne for me.”
Eddie nodded and then slipped out of the house. Both Jim and Elinor turned to Steve.
“He didn’t touch you or Dad,” Elinor said succinctly, tilting her head to the side. “But he rustled my hair, why?”
Jim huffed a breath through his nose. “Probably for the same reason Steve here doesn’t touch men. He knows his soulmate is a man and it would be pitchforks and torches if happened to be the wrong man.”
She nodded sagely. “I’m sorry you were forced to use your powers so soon after the incident with the Carver boy. I hope you find your soulmate quickly. I fear there is a storm coming that will alter this town forever.”
Then she smiled and skipped out of the house as if nothing had happened.
Jim and Steve looked at each other in concern.
“Well,” Jim said darkly, “that was fucking ominous.”
Steve could only agree.

omg Odi... (sorry for my 352 messages waiting for you on discord but I needed to express my feelings 😂😂😂) damn... this is so beautiful 😍❤️
The angst is amazing, the texts are perfect, each word is so good!!
One of my favorite fic ever. The way you described the emotions, everything is so vivid, your writing hello???? and the whole fic is brilliant 🤌👌
Thank you for the emotions and for this masterpiece ❤️❤️
You: Still into music? Joel’s brows furrowed, the unexpected question caught him off guard. The memory hit Joel like a sucker punch. The songs. That was how you used to talk to each other when words didn’t feel like enough.
And this. Wow. I LOVE when ex's use something from "before" to communicate. I love it, so, so much
His thoughts churned like storm clouds—your words, the memories they dragged back, the ache of something he thought he'd buried years ago.
Aaaaah I love it I love it I love it
Your hips swayed to the rhythm, carefree and unselfconscious, like the world outside didn’t exist. You turned suddenly, catching him staring, and your smile lit up the room. “What?” you teased, eyes sparkling. “You gonna stand there all morning, or are you gonna help me?” “Don’t see a reason to move,” Joel drawled, his lips tugging into a smirk. “Got a real nice view from here.” You rolled your eyes, but your laughter bubbled up, soft and sweet, filling the quiet space between you.
The intimacy, hello??? So good
Joel hadn’t responded with words. Instead, he pressed a kiss to your forehead, his hand running idly through your hair. Actions had always been easier for him than words, and he’d hoped you understood what he couldn’t say.
Damn, Odi... what the fuck. I have tears in my eyes for real. This is so beautiful. I love men that have a hard time expressing their feelings, men that need to use something else to do it. This is amazing
You: 3:01 - Exile by Taylor Swift. His heart kicked up as he clicked the link and let the song play, skipping to the time stamp. The haunting melody filled the room, and when the lyrics hit, he froze. “I think I’ve seen this film before, and I didn’t like the ending.”
Damn. Fuck fuck fuck
Joel: 2:26 - The Night We Met by Lord Huron. He hit send before he could second-guess himself, then opened the song and skipped to the time stamp. “I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you. Take me back to the night we met.”
jfc. And I have no idea how the fic is gonna end. You're torturing me, ma'am 😭😘
You: That’s a bold choice.
hehehe, reader is so you on this one 😁😁😁 I can totally see you answer this 😁😁😁
You: 2:01 - All I Want by Kodaline Joel played the song, the ache in the lyrics settled heavy in his chest. "Cause you brought out the best of me. A part of me I'd never seen. You took my soul, wiped it clean. Our love was made for movie screens. But if you loved me, why did you leave me?" The words cut sharper than he wanted to admit.
You have NO idead how much I love this. Love their communication through music. It's such a brilliant idea!!!
The honesty in his voice made your breath hitch, and Joel caught the way your expression softened, your playful demeanor faltering for just a moment.
awww 🥹🥹🥹
And then the meeting, the ending. Wow. what a masterpiece 👌🤌
I'm gonna think about them for a long, long time
Reincarnated
Joel Miller x F!Reader // 4.5k
summary: A late-night text from an unknown number stirs up memories you thought you’d buried. It’s been years since Joel walked out of your life, but now he’s back. Old wounds resurface, boundaries blur, and the question lingers: is this a second chance or just another heartbreak waiting to happen?
warnings: this is just yearing, longing, sad tortured for years joel, theme's of heartbreak, no beta, two ex's, tommy makes an appearance, no smut here (I know I know this is not my usual)
notes: I don't usually write this kind of stuff (no smut) and I am not sure how I feel about it but this is my submission for @jolapeno's Dear-uary challenge my prompt was: An old flame unexpectedly texts the other after years of silence, sparking memories of their past relationship and wondering if the feelings are still there. A big thank you to @thundermartini my baby for holding my hand as per usual, helping me with the title, being my draft, my cheerleader supporting me through a hundred moodboard changes, @itwasntimethatdidit40 my sweet sweet freckles for being such a massive support, helping me with the moodboard pictures, being a cheerleader and reading through parts of this. and @sawymredfox for always being such a lovely support and listening to me ramble always I love you all more than you know.
masterlist
The sun dipped low behind the hills, painting the Texas sky in streaks of gold and crimson. Joel sat on the creaky old porch chair, boots propped on the railing, a glass of bourbon rested loosely in his hand. He wasn’t drinking to enjoy it tonight—more out of habit than anything. The bitter burn barely registered anymore.
Beside him, Tommy leaned back in his chair, the faint smirk on his face telling Joel he was gearing up for one of his jabs. Tommy always had a knack for digging up things Joel preferred to leave buried.
“You ever wonder what happened to her?” Tommy asked, his voice easy, like he was just making small talk. But Joel knew better.
Joel’s grip on the glass tightened. He kept his gaze on the horizon, jaw clenching as he swirled the amber liquid. “Who?” he grunted, though his heart already knew the answer.
Tommy chuckled, low and knowing. “C’mon, Joel. Don’t play dumb. You know who I’m talkin’ about. That woman you used to see when Sarah was little. The one who—”
“Drop it, Tommy.” Joel’s voice was sharp, a warning shot, but Tommy, stubborn as ever, wasn’t backing down just yet.
“Alright, I’ll drop it,” Tommy said, leaning forward. “But I’m just sayin’, you’ve been walkin’ around like a damn ghost for years now. You ever think maybe you oughta—”
“I said drop it,” Joel snapped, his tone cutting through the lazy evening like a whip crack.
That shut Tommy up, at least for a moment. He leaned back again, taking a swig of his beer and letting out a long sigh. “Fine. But you know I’m right. You can act like you don’t care, but I see it, Joel. Regret’s a hell of a thing to carry around.”
Joel didn’t answer. He couldn’t. Instead, he stared out at the horizon, watching as the last sliver of sunlight disappeared behind the trees.
————————
Later that night, Joel lay in bed, the house quiet save for the faint creak of the floorboards settling. Tommy’s words churned in his mind, unwelcome but persistent. Regret.
The truth was, Joel had gotten real good at shoving his regrets into a corner of his mind and ignoring them. He had to. Otherwise, they’d eat him alive. But sometimes, like tonight, they crept back in, catching him off guard when his defenses were down.
Your face came to him in flashes, unbidden but vivid as ever—the curve of your smile, the sound of your laugh, the way your eyes had always seemed to see right through him.
He’d thought about you more than he cared to admit over the years. Wondered where you were, what you were doing, if you were happy. Wondered if you ever thought about him.
Joel sat up, running a hand through his hair as he glanced at the phone on his nightstand. The idea of reaching out had crossed his mind a hundred times before, but he’d always talked himself out of it. What would he even say? What right did he have to show up in your life again after all this time?
Still, something about tonight felt different. Maybe it was Tommy’s words rattling around in his head. Or maybe it was the quiet, aching loneliness that had settled in his chest like an old friend.
Before he could think better of it, Joel grabbed his phone. He opened a blank message, staring at it for what felt like an eternity. Then, he typed, backspaced and typed again until he finally settled on something.
Hey, it’s been a while.
He hesitated, thumb hovering over the send button. His chest felt tight, like the weight of all the years and mistakes was pressing down on him. But before he could change his mind, he hit send.
The message hung there on the screen, simple and unassuming, but it felt monumental. Joel stared at it, heart pounding in a way he hadn’t felt in years.
Minutes passed. Then longer. He sighed, setting the phone back on the nightstand. “Goddamn fool,” he muttered under his breath.
But just as he was reaching to turn off the light, his phone buzzed.
The buzzing sound jolted him more than he cared to admit. He picked it up, the faint glow of the screen illuminating his furrowed brow.
You: Who is this?
He hadn’t expected you to respond. Or maybe he had, but he hadn’t thought this far ahead. He was suddenly aware of how much rested on the next words he typed.
Joel: It’s Joel.
The three dots appeared almost immediately, then disappeared. They came back and stopped again. Joel could almost picture you sitting there, debating whether to even respond.
Then it came.
You: What do you want?
There it was. Direct. Guarded. Exactly what he expected. Joel leaned back against the headboard. He didn’t blame you. Hell, he deserved worse. But now that he’d started this, he couldn’t stop.
Joel: I don’t know. Just thought I’d check in.
The response came quicker this time.
You: After all these years? You just “thought you’d check in”?
Joel winced, hesitating over the screen again. Nothing felt right. Nothing felt like enough.
Joel: I’ve been thinking about you.
Another pause. He could practically feel your hesitation through the phone.
You: Don’t. You don’t get to do that.
Joel stared at your message. His jaw tightened as he fought against the surge of guilt rising in his chest. You were right—he didn’t get to do this. But here he was, selfishly dragging the both of you back into a mess he’d created.
He set the phone down, ran a hand over his face, and stared at the ceiling. Memories of you flickered in his mind—how your laugh used to light up a room, the way your touch had always grounded him when the world felt too heavy. He’d walked away, thinking it was the right thing to do. For Sarah. For her mother. For everyone but you.
The phone buzzed again. He sighed, picking it back up.
You: Why now, Joel? What’s the point?
He’d rehearsed this conversation in his head so many times over the years, but none of those imagined scenarios had prepared him for this.
Joel: There is no point. I just couldn’t stop myself tonight. I know I don’t deserve to be texting you.
You: You’re damn right you don’t. You broke my heart. You don’t just get to waltz back in like nothing happened.
Joel: I know I did. And I’m sorry. I should’ve said it back then, but I was too much of a coward.
He stared at the screen, waiting, but no reply came. The silence felt heavier than the darkness surrounding him, and for a moment, he wondered if that was it. If you’d finally had enough and decided to let him rot in the bed he’d made.
You: But why now, why tonight?
Joel: Tommy brought you up. Got me thinking.
The truth hung there, plain and unvarnished. He could’ve lied, could’ve made it sound more noble, but what good would that have done?
You: So what, I’m some ghost you decided to chase because Tommy made you feel bad?
Joel: No. It’s not like that. I’ve thought about you every damn day since I left. I know that probably doesn't mean shit to you, but it’s the truth.
You: Every day, huh? Didn’t stop you from choosing her over me.
Joel shut his eyes, the memory of that choice cutting through him like a knife. He’d thought he was doing the right thing back then but in the process, he’d shattered something else—something that had mattered more than he’d been willing to admit.
Joel: You’re right. I made the wrong choice. I know that now.
You: I don’t know if I can do this.
Joel stared at the words. He wasn’t sure if he could do this either, but he knew one thing for certain—he didn’t want to let you go again.
Joel: You don’t have to decide right now. Just let me talk to you. For a little bit. Please.
You: Fine. But don’t expect me to make this easy for you.
A faint, bittersweet smile tugged at Joel’s lips. He didn’t expect it to be easy. He didn’t think he deserved it. But for the first time in years, there was a sliver of hope in his chest.
Joel: Fair enough.
You: Still into music?
Joel’s brows furrowed, the unexpected question caught him off guard. The memory hit Joel like a sucker punch. The songs. That was how you used to talk to each other when words didn’t feel like enough.
Every morning, like clockwork, one of you would send a song with a time stamp—each track chosen so deliberately. Some days, it was your favorite love songs, sappy and sweet, reminding the other how much you cared. Other times, it was to lift each other up, a little nudge of hope when the world felt too heavy. And then there were the ones that said all the things neither of you could say out loud.
Joel: Always.
You: I’ll send you one tomorrow.
Joel: Looking forward to it.
Joel sighed, setting the phone back on the nightstand. Your last message sat heavy on his chest, lingering. He stared up at the ceiling, the faint glow of moonlight spilling through the blinds. His thoughts churned like storm clouds—your words, the memories they dragged back, the ache of something he thought he'd buried years ago.
Eventually, the exhaustion won out, pulling him under. Joel’s dreams carried him back to a time when life felt a little less heavy, and the weight of his choices hadn’t yet settled on his shoulders.
He saw you clearly, like a photograph that had been buried but never faded. You were standing in his kitchen cooking breakfast, barefoot and wearing one of his old flannels that hung loose on you, the sleeves rolled up past your elbows. It was early morning, sunlight streaming through the window and catching in your hair, painting you in a golden glow.
Joel leaned against the doorframe, coffee mug in hand, watching as you hummed along to Fishin' in the Dark by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on the radio—one of those old country tunes you both loved. Your hips swayed to the rhythm, carefree and unselfconscious, like the world outside didn’t exist. You turned suddenly, catching him staring, and your smile lit up the room.
“What?” you teased, eyes sparkling. “You gonna stand there all morning, or are you gonna help me?”
“Don’t see a reason to move,” Joel drawled, his lips tugging into a smirk. “Got a real nice view from here.”
You rolled your eyes, but your laughter bubbled up, soft and sweet, filling the quiet space between you. He couldn’t help but cross the room then, setting his coffee down on the counter as his hands found your waist.
“Joel Miller,” you said, feigning exasperation as he pulled you close, his fingers brushing along the curve of your hip. “I’m trying to make breakfast, and you’re—”
“Distractin’ you?” he interrupted, leaning in so his nose brushed against you.
“Exactly.”
“Good,” he murmured, before pressing a kiss to the side of your neck. You let out a soft sigh, melting into him, and for a moment, everything felt perfect—like the rest of the world could wait.
The memory shifted, flickering like an old film reel. You were both lying on the couch now, tangled up in each other as a record spun on the turntable, and he could hear your voice, quiet but clear, singing along to a song you’d claimed was “for him.”
“Every time I hear this one, I think of you,” you’d confessed, your head resting on his chest.
Joel hadn’t responded with words. Instead, he pressed a kiss to your forehead, his hand running idly through your hair. Actions had always been easier for him than words, and he’d hoped you understood what he couldn’t say.
When Joel woke, the room was still dim, dawn just beginning to creep through the cracks in the blinds. He rubbed a hand over his face, groaning softly as the previous night settled back onto his chest. His phone caught his eye, and he hesitated before reaching for it.
The screen lit up, and there it was—a new message.
Joel leaned back against the headboard, staring at the phone in his hand. The words hit harder than he’d expected—bitterness woven into a truth he couldn’t deny. But beneath the sting, there was something else.
You’d sent him a song. After all this time, after everything that had passed between you, you’d listened, and you’d answered. It wasn’t an olive branch, not exactly, but it was a thread. A connection. A chance.
Joel stared at the screen for what felt like an eternity, the song still playing in the background. The words hit like a gut punch, raw and honest in a way only music could manage. He exhaled slowly. He had to respond, and it had to be right.
Scrolling through his playlists, he searched for something that could say what he couldn’t put into words. A chance to prove he wasn’t the man who had walked away. Something that could show you he wasn’t taking this lightly, that he regretted the past.
Then he found it.
Joel: 2:26 - The Night We Met by Lord Huron.
He hit send before he could second-guess himself, then opened the song and skipped to the time stamp.
“I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you. Take me back to the night we met.”
The lyrics bled through the room, a haunting confession of longing and regret. He closed his eyes, letting the melody wrap around him like a cold embrace. It wasn’t just a song—it was a plea.
Minutes passed with no reply, the silence stretched long and thin. Joel’s chest tightened, doubt creeping in like an unwelcome guest. Maybe he’d read too much into your message. Maybe sending the song was too much.
The phone buzzed in his hand, and his breath hitched.
You: That’s a bold choice.
A small, humorless chuckle escaped him. Bold, sure—but it was the truth.
Joel: Figured it was fitting.
You: It is. But that night it’s a hard one to go back to.
Joel swallowed painfully, the weight of your words settling over him like a lead blanket. He didn’t blame you.
Joel: I know. I can’t change the past. But I wish I could.
You: Wishing doesn’t fix anything.
Joel: You’re right. But maybe it’s a start.
You: We’ll see.
The conversation faded into silence after that, but Joel didn’t mind. For the first time in years, he felt like he’d taken a step—small, tentative, but forward.
He wasn’t walking away this time. Not again.
——————————
The next day started quietly for Joel. After his usual morning routine—coffee, and an aimless walk around the property—he finally glanced at his phone, half-expecting silence, but there it was
You: 2:01 - All I Want by Kodaline
Joel sat on the oak chair at his kitchen table, his phone resting in his palm as All I Want faded out. Your song hit him square in the heart—a combination of longing and accusation he couldn’t argue with. He leaned forward with his elbows on the table.
Joel played the song, the ache in the lyrics settled heavy in his chest. "Cause you brought out the best of me. A part of me I'd never seen. You took my soul, wiped it clean. Our love was made for movie screens. But if you loved me, why did you leave me?" The words cut sharper than he wanted to admit.
Why did you leave me?
The answer felt too big, too tangled in old guilt and choices he couldn’t take back. Joel rubbed his hand over his mouth, trying to think of the right response. Music had always been your language, but today, the words felt harder to choose.
After a while, he scrolled through his playlists again, stopping when his thumb hovered over a familiar title. It wasn’t just about the lyrics—it was the feeling, the truth of what he wanted to say but couldn’t. He thought it might somehow tip the scales in his favor and so he typed.
2:41- Let Her Go by Passenger
He opened the song and let the timestamp play, you only know you love her when you let her go and you let her go.
Finally, he hit the button, watching as the message marked "Delivered."
The phone sat in his hand as he leaned back against the kitchen chair, the melody echoing in his mind. This back-and-forth of songs and guarded words—it felt like a lifeline, but also like walking on a tightrope. He wanted more, needed more, but he wasn’t sure if you were ready to give it.
The phone buzzed, breaking his thoughts.
You: You always pick the gut-punchers.
Joel exhaled a small laugh.
Joel: Never been good at subtle.
You: You’ve still got good taste in music, I’ll give you that. Suprised it’s not an oldie.
Joel smiled, a faint warmth spreading through his chest. It wasn’t forgiveness, not yet, but it was a step—a reminder that some part of you still wanted to talk to him.
By the sixth day, it felt like you both slipped back into old habits, texting each other all day about everything and nothing. Joel found himself smiling more, laughing even. It wasn’t like the years hadn’t happened—those gaps still lingered, but they didn’t feel so wide anymore.
—————————————
The next few days blurred together in a steady rhythm of texts. It started slow—Joel’s messages were careful and measured. A “good morning” here, a comment about the weather there, and a song in between. But soon, the conversations stretched longer, dipping into familiar topics and inside jokes he hadn’t thought about in years.
It was comfortable and natural. Everything was falling back into place, even though you weren’t sure if you were ready to let it.
Joel: Thought about calling you earlier.
You: Why didn’t you?
Joel: I don’t know. Didn’t wanna push too hard, I guess. But I miss hearing your voice.
You: Well if you’re going to call, might as well make it a video call. Let’s see if you’ve aged as much as you sound like you have ;)
Joel blinked at the screen, his lips twitching into a surprised smile. He ran a hand through his hair, glancing at the hallway mirror. “Damn you old fool,” he muttered to himself, brushing a finger over the lines on his face.
Joel: You sure? Don’t want to scare you off.
You: I’ll take my chances.
Joel chuckled, the sound low and almost nervous as he tapped the video call button. His heart thudded in his chest as the screen shifted, the ringing filling his ears until, finally, the call connected.
Your face appeared, a little blurry at first before the image settled. Joel stared, his breath catching at the sight of you, just as beautiful as he remembered.
“Hey,” you said softly, your voice breaking the silence.
Joel swallowed hard, his grip tightening on the phone. “Hey,” he replied. He gave a small, self-deprecating smile. “Guess this is me. Older, grayer, and maybe a little wiser.”
You tilted your head, a smirk forming on your lips. “You don’t look half bad… for an old man.”
Joel chuckled, the sound more relaxed this time. He paused, his eyes scanning your face through the screen. “It’s real good to see you.”
You nodded, your expression softening. “It’s good to see you too.”
Joel leaned back in his chair, the tension in his shoulders easing as the two of you settled into the call. His smile lingered, even as he tried to play it cool. “Y’know, video calls weren’t much of a thing last time we talked.”
You laughed, resting your chin on your hand. “Yeah, it’s weird seeing you like this. Makes you feel closer, though.”
He nodded, the warmth in your voice made his chest tighten. “Closer’s good. Been too damn long.”
Your gaze softened, and for a moment, neither of you said anything, just letting the silence stretch. Joel was the first to break. “So, I passed the test, then? Don’t look too ancient on camera?”
You laughed, the sound sending a ripple of nostalgia through him. “You’re doing okay. Grays suit you.”
“Flatterin’ me now, huh?” He leaned forward slightly. “I think you’re tryin’ to distract me.”
“Distract you from what?” you asked, raising a brow, but there was a playful lilt in your voice.
“From how damn beautiful you are,” he said, the words leaving his mouth before he could stop them. He blinked, his expression shifting as if he wasn’t sure he should’ve said it.
“You always were a charmer, Miller.”
“Not sure ‘bout that,” he replied, rubbing the back of his neck. “Think I just say what I mean when it comes to you.”
The honesty in his voice made your breath hitch, and Joel caught the way your expression softened, your playful demeanor faltering for just a moment.
“You always did have a way of catching me off guard,” you said finally.
“Guess it’s mutual, then.” He leaned back in his chair. “You’ve always had a knack for makin’ me say things I don’t plan on sayin’.”
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
“Like tellin’ you how beautiful you are,” he said without missing a beat, his tone steady now, as if he’d decided to own the moment. “How much I’ve missed seein’ that pretty face, hearin’ your laugh.” He paused, his eyes holding yours through the screen. “How much I’ve missed you.”
“Joel…” you began, but he cut you off with a gentle smile.
“Don’t gotta say anything,” he said softly. “Just… wanted you to know.”
You shook your head, a smile breaking through. “You always do this, you know? Say something that makes it impossible to stay mad at you.”
“Not my intention. So, how ‘bout you? You miss me at all, or am I just an old fool?”
"I mean, you are an old fool, but…"
"But?"
"But maybe I missed you a little," you teased, holding your thumb and forefinger an inch apart for emphasis.
He shook his head as a laugh rumbled out of him. "A little, huh? Should’ve known I’d only get a half-assed compliment outta you."
"Hey," you shot back, grinning now, "that’s more than most people get. Consider yourself special, Miller."
"Special, huh? Careful now—you keep sweet-talkin’ me like that, and I might start thinkin’ you missed me a lot."
You laughed, rolling your eyes. "Don’t push your luck."
The silence that followed wasn’t uncomfortable—it was charged, full of unspoken things. Joel shifted in his chair, his thumb brushing absently along the edge of the phone. He hadn’t realized how much he’d needed this, how much he’d needed you. And now that he had you on the other end of this call, he wasn’t sure how he’d gone so long without it.
“So,” he started, his voice softer now, “what have you been up to all these years? Catch me up.”
You shared bits and pieces of your life. Joel listened intently, his eyes fixed on the screen like you might vanish if he looked away. Your laugh filled the space between his words, and every now and then, you’d tease him about his “old man” habits or the way his drawl had only gotten thicker.
It was easy. Too easy. And Joel realized he didn’t want the call to end.
“Y’know, this… this ain’t enough. Seein’ you like this. Hearin’ you talk. Feels good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not the same.”
You hesitated, your smile faltering. “What are you saying, Joel?”
“I’m sayin’… I wanna see you. For real. None of this video callin’ nonsense.” His voice dropped lower, softer, like he was afraid you might say no. “Just you and me. Like old times.”
You blinked, your lips parting in surprise before a slow smile spread across your face. “You sure you’re ready for that? Seeing me in person might ruin the illusion.”
“Doubt that,” Joel said, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I’ll take my chances.”
The day of the meeting came quicker than Joel expected. He stood outside the small café you’d chosen, his hands stuffed into his jacket pockets to keep them from fidgeting. His heart was pounding in a way that made him feel like a damn teenager again, but he couldn’t help it. This wasn’t just any meeting. This was you.
You laughed, shaking your head. “Alright, Miller. When and where?”
————
He looked around waiting to see you, and then Joel froze. There you were, standing just a few feet away, your face illuminated by the golden afternoon light. You looked just as he remembered, and yet somehow different—like time had added something to you, something he couldn’t quite put into words. His breath caught, and for a moment, he couldn’t move.
And then your eyes met.
It hit him like a punch to the gut, the kind of emotion he thought he’d buried long ago. There was no escaping it, no pretending it wasn’t there. The way you smiled at him, tentative and warm, like you were testing the waters but already knew the outcome—it was enough to undo him completely.
“Joel,” you said softly. It was the same voice he’d been hearing in his head for years, the one he’d convinced himself he could live without. But now that it was real, there was no going back.
“Hey,” he managed, his voice rough and uneven. He took a step closer until he was standing right in front of you.
For a moment, neither of you said anything. You just looked at each other, the weight of the years between you pressing down and then lifting all at once. Joel’s eyes traced every line of your face, every detail he’d missed, and he felt something settle deep in his chest. Something he hadn’t felt in a long, long time.
It was undeniable, inevitable. Whatever this was, whatever it could be—there was no stopping it now. Joel knew it, and by the way you looked at him, he knew you did too.
“Guess we’ve got a lot to talk about,” he said finally, his lips quirking into a small, lopsided smile.
“Yeah,” you replied, your own smile soft but full of promise. “We do.”
And as Joel held the door open for you, letting you step inside first, he felt it—the certainty that this wasn’t the end of something but the beginning.
Whatever came next, he knew one thing for sure - you were in it, and there was no turning back.

Skeptic for the ask thingy? :D
I'm getting through these so slowly 😭 Sorry for the wait! Time to ramble about everyone's favorite detective bird-
[Send Me a Character and I'll List Ask Game]
favorite thing about them
Weirdly, it's the contrast between how intelligent and logical Skeptic is as a character vs. how absurd and irrational the Construct is. The way Skeptic fights and seeks universal singular truth in a world that, by design, does not have any... which was so masterfully highlighted in the Cage and the new Den. I remember genuinely exclaiming "SKEPTIC NO, STOP-" when the tunnel began collapsing (though in fairness, Hero is the one who started it). And the way Skeptic blamed himself for not "thinking it through," because that's how he thinks the world around him should work:
"Why for the love of everything did I not think about the stability of the tunnels?! I'm supposed to be smarter than this! I'm supposed to have a plan for everything."
And the entire dialogue with Hero following that line, too-
...Long story short, there is something very tragic but incredibly appealing about putting a character, who is all about facts, logic, and deduction, into a world that shifts based on your perception where nothing is certain. Sorry Skeptic, love you Skeptic </3
[What's up with all these asks getting so long... more under the cut </3]
least favorite thing about them
Rewritten and deleted lines from the Prisoner. Hands down. It's one of the few things I dislike about the DLC, and I choose to not accept it as canon. I really, really miss that triumphant "I knew it!" followed by "She couldn't tip her hand to Him. He wouldn't have let us leave." It really highlighted Skeptic's intelligence, along with an innate desire to trust the Prisoner, to think of her as someone with a plan. She wouldn't just cut off her own head like that, and he knew it.
I understand that this was done to make the lead-up to the Cage easier / more natural... but I feel like there were other ways to do it! Hero is right there, and he just watched Prisoner cut her head off, he could be disturbed and panicking about the whole situation and really want to leave, which would feel quite natural too! And then perhaps Skeptic was sure that Prisoner had a plan, but after you choose to leave her behind... he isn't so sure anymore, which could lead to him slowly losing his mind and devolving during the Cage. That would've been perfect, at least in my opinion!
Honorable mention goes to the fact that, even after the Pristine Cut, he still feels a little underutilized to me. I talked about it in my Paranoid character ask, but Deconstructed Damsel -> HEA should've had Skeptic instead of Paranoid (T v T)
favorite line
"You have the attention span of a fly. How are we supposed to unravel the mysteries of this place if you're so easily distracted by empty promises?"
Honestly I feel you, Hero, I also have the attention span of a fly-
And of course, how can I not mention: "Yes, yes, don't believe a word she says. Just go in, take the knife, and do what you're supposed to. Wink."
brOTP
I already talked about how I really like the Grey Brothers (Skeptic + Smitten) dynamic in Smitten's post, it's very fun to imagine these two as very different people who have very little in common... but who still care about each other.
But I also want to mention Skeptic + Hunted. I liked the idea of them being comfortable in each other's spaces even before the extended Den. And with them working together so well in the Den post-Pristine Cut, I think they would have a pretty close friendship.
Everest trying really hard to explain a dynamic they like, without resorting to just "they cool. me like them"-
OTP
For the record, I HC my Skeptic as aroace (or demiromantic asexual, I haven't fully decided yet). That will not stop my QPR-Skeptunist from completely taking over my brain <3
There is something very appealing about their dynamic - Opportunist is trying to get on Skeptic's "good side" and is interested in how intelligent Skeptic is (and how he could utilize that intelligence for his schemes), while Skeptic is curious about Opportunist and that rat brain of his (/aff), trying to see what's beneath those layers and layers of masks that Oppy likes to wear. In a way, they are both almost trying to outsmart one another, but from a place of curiosity... which could lead them to slowly enjoy each other's company :]
Also, this ship is really funny, and it's hilarious to imagine all the stupid scenarios they find themselves in- OH, and I wrote this on them like a month ago:
"I do genuinely feel like they would, not always but often, enjoy each other's company and yap - we all know that Skeptic is listening to Oppy's endless rambles to understand that gremlin mind of his, but I feel like he would come to like Oppy's weird plans and logic as a sort of 'new perspective' - and Oppy really appreciates someone acknowledging 'his genius,' and maybe in turn, he would also listen to Skeptic's esoteric rambles on stenography (it feels like they would be interesting, and depending on the topic, Oppy could actually be genuinely interested in Skeptic's yap in like a "oh, this would be helpful for my next scheme" kind of way)"
...I like this ship way too much for how little they interact in the game (which is "not at all")
Honorable mention almost goes to ParaSkep, courtesy of @/wintergrofyuri and @/itsonlypolite. It's so close to clicking with me (it feels like a dynamic I would like, I want to like them)... but it's just barely not it, I don't know what exactly, but something is missing / just not quite clicking with me (T v T)
nOTP
Don't think I have any nOTPs for Skeptic! I haven't seen any ship with him that I disliked :]
random headcanon
I already mentioned like 3 headcanons in this post: the fact that my Skeptic is aroace (or demiromantic ace), the fact that my Skeptic knows shorthand (and writes exclusively in it), the fact that Skeptic is actually a yapper who likes to explain and go in-depth on the topics he finds interesting... /silly
Let's add another one! I like the idea of a linguistics nerd Skeptic, who is really into the etymology of words (I talked about it in this post where I talked about voice's hobbies!), sounds like the kind of thing Skeptic would be interested in.
Are any of these HCs based on anything from the game? Nope! These are all entirely based on ✨ vibes ✨.
unpopular opinion
To be honest, I don't know what counts as an "unpopular opinion" for Skeptic. I don't think I have any? At least none that I feel strongly about, most of my opinions about Skeptic are either directly based on the lines from the game OR are completely irrelevant silly HCs based on nothing but my own likes lol
song i associate with them
I very rarely listen to just instrumental music (outside of lo-fi and a couple specific artists)... but none of the songs I listen to really fit Skeptic. And so my first instinct is... the original Objection! theme from Phoenix Wright-
Also Open the Game by Jiro. Not the kind of music I usually listen to, but a friend suggested it to me as "music that fits Skeptic" a while ago, and I agree with my friend, I think it really suits him in terms of musical style :]
favorite picture of them
...I'm going to be honest, I'm currently debating if I should give Skeptic a major re-design (because something about his current design just irks me). But if I had to pick an image for Skeptic that I made, it would be this-
...I don't think I shared this before (I probably will in a doodle dump of "voices in dresses" sometime in the future), but this is Skeptic in Alice in Wonderland's dress. A few friends and I joked too much about how awful of a time Skeptic would have in Wonderland, and so this was born!

//
the past month with jungkook has been nothing short of fun and comfort. all you’ve felt with him is this kind of warmth that sneaks up on you when you least expect it.
jungkook is playful in ways that make your stomach ache from laughter and patient in ways that make your heart swell. he’s always giving in, always biting into you—whether it’s your words, your antics, or the way you press your fingers into his jaw when he teases you too much. he’s funny and charming in ways that are overbearing—smothering—if it weren’t for the fact that you love every second of it.
and god…
it’s been so hard not to slip out the words.
you love him.
it’s only been a month, but what the fuck does time has to do with the kind of certainty he makes you feel? the kind of love he makes you believe in?
because this is… this is it. this is love. there is nothing else it could be.
jungkoook is a gentleman in ways you never expected.
not just in the hold-the-door-open-for-you way, but in the way he holds it open for the people behind you, too. to him, it’s second nature. it’s the same way it’s second nature for him to shrug off his hoodie and tug it over your shoulders before you even realize you’re cold. it’s in the way he loves everything you are, everything you wear, but still, when you lean in to take a bite of food, his hand finds your chest, shielding you from prying eyes like it’s instinct.
“baby,” you laugh, mid-bite, muffled. “you don’t have to do that.”
he just shrugs, nonchalant. “they don’t deserve the view.”
even at the movies, as he walks behind you, it’s the way his hand is placed at your lower back, guiding and protective. in crowded spaces, he pulls you into his side and tucks you against him like a secret. at dinners, he doesn’t just push your chair in—he makes sure your drink is within reach, makes sure you get the first bite of his food before he even digs into his own.
it’s so strange.
to feel such passion for someone in a short amount of time—but who are you to reject such goodness? such satisfaction?
so you don’t.
for the past month, you have let yourself be loved the way you deserve to be. for the past month, you have been loving him the way he deserves to be loved… except, through sex.
oh god.
sex.
you haven’t had sex with anyone since your ex-boyfriend. it’s always just been you and your vibrators… so, when you met jungkook—fuck.
you were excited.
but after the first time you met and he didn’t kiss you… you had a gut feeling sex with him would take time. which is fine. he’s a loser anyway, what did you expect?
but time (and ovulation) catches up. your lips want to kiss something that isn’t his lips. in fact, you want his lips to be kissing your lips—the ones in between your legs.
the frustration has been eating you up for days. so, you give in to your cravings at your one month mark. it was a joke—at least, it was meant to be one… instead, you find yourself scrambling through your closet for lingerie you think he’ll like best.
you choose black.
simple, classy, and sexy. perfect for him.
once you get yourself dressed, you put on a silk robe and spray your favourite perfume. you touch up your make-up (yes, we’re wearing makeup and sweating it off) and eagerly wait for him. for a moment, you stare at yourself in the mirror and tilt your head.
wow, you’re so pretty.
you hope he lasts longer than 5 minutes—
just then, there’s a knock on the door
hurriedly, you let out a little squeal before heading to the front door.
as you open the door, you find jungkook standing there, a cake box balanced in one hand, the other shoved into the pocket of his hoodie. his hair is a mess—like he’s been running his fingers through it over and over, the way he always does when he’s nervous. but the smirk tugging at his lips betrays him.
without a word, he lifts the lid of the box, revealing the cake inside. in bright, obnoxious frosting, the words;
best dick ever
… stare back at you.
you blink.
then snort.
then burst into laughter, covering your mouth with your hand.
“aren’t you getting ahead of yourself?”
“oh… right. sorry,” he says, feigning innocence as he tilts his head. “should i make it up to you?”
you narrow your eyes. “yeah.”
his brows lift, playful. “yeah? like how?”
you don’t answer. instead, you grab a fistful of his hoodie and pull him in, catching his mouth in a kiss. he hums against your lips, the corners of his mouth quirking up. mid-kiss, he murmurs, “happy one month, baby.”
you laugh into him, harder this time, shaking your head as your arms slip around his neck. and when he tugs at the knot of your robe, letting it slip from your shoulders, he throws his head back with a groan—boyish, excited, so very him.
“fuck,” he grins, placing the cake down on the coffee table without looking, hands already reaching for you. but you’re already a step ahead, fisting his hoodie again, tugging him toward your room.
he follows without hesitation.
the hottest thing anyone can do is want you.
like, all of you.
jungkook is sure to do just that.
the minute jungkook steps into your bedroom, he tugs his hoodie over his head, tossing it somewhere behind him without a second thought. his hands move to his pocket, pulling out his phone. at first, you think he’s checking something—maybe a text, maybe the time—but instead, he holds it up so you can see.
the screen goes black as he shuts it off.
for a second, you’re confused. he’s always on his phone, always checking something, scrolling absentmindedly even in the middle of conversations. but then, it clicks.
jungkook wants all of you.
this isn’t about notifications ruining the mood, not about avoiding distractions or the buzz of the outside world. it’s a quiet declaration—he doesn’t need a screen, doesn’t need to record, doesn’t need anything but this. he doesn’t need proof.
he just needs you.
his eyes flicker up to meet yours, searching, waiting.
your chest tightens, warmth blooming in your stomach. you swallow, stepping closer, fingers skimming over his wrist before you take the phone from his hand, placing it on your nightstand.
“just us?” you murmur.
his lips twitch.
“just us.”
and then he’s kissing you, slow and deep, like he’s savoring the moment already. like he’s making sure you feel it, too.
for someone who has been salivating, craving, and whining for his dick—you sure have a funny way of showing him just how bad you want it.
as jungkook’s toned and slightly sweaty body towers of you, you bite your lip and watch the way his chain dangles above. you’re sweating a bit, a little overstimulated from the way he just finished eating you out.
of course, he edged you. he didn’t let you finish on his tongue, but you were so fucking close. your pussy is currently throbbing and so sore from the agonizing pain of clenching.
jungkook smirks, watching you regulate your breathing. you aren’t panting or anything, but he can tell you’re trying to play it cool. he leans in, kissing your lips ever so slightly.
“it’s okay to cum.”
“says you.”
he chuckles and mocks you. “says you.”
“shut up and put it in.”
jungkook raises a brow at you. “i’d watch your mouth if i were you.”
“why’s that, daddy? am i being naughty? we’re not even doing this raw. if anything, i’m not being naughty enough.”
he rolls his eyes.
“you and your fucking attitude.”
“what attitude?”
“shut up.”
“you shut up—oh…”
jungkook holds his length and glides it around your entrance. you feel his head enter for a millisecond before he uses his hard cock to split through your wet folds. he hums, taking the feeling in. you let out little whimpers, needy and ever so lewd.
it’s music to his hears. in fact, it’s his favourite melody.
“gonna put it in,” jungkook prepares you. “okay, baby?”
“o-okay,” you breathe. “mhmmmm…”
then, jungkook hisses.
he feels himself harden even more as he pushes himself inside you. your cunt is so fucking tight, it sends shivers throughout his body. you’re so warm and so fucking pretty as he watches the way you shift, adjusting to his size. you roll your shoulders back, your chin is slightly tilted as you whimper his name.
“jungkook…”
“mhmm?”
he moves in more, and then entirely. jungkook buries his long, hard, thick, and veiny cock inside you. it slips in easily, all thanks to your precious wetness. jungkook shifts his position, lowering his body more and places kisses around your neck to your ear.
for a moment, he blanks.
this is all he has ever wanted. he wanted to wait for a month because of everything you were dealing with but also because… he knew it would be worth the wait. the tension, the built connection, and the yearning… oh god, does this feel so fucking good.
to put it into perspective; you’re home and he’s been homesick.
“nghhh… jungkook?”
“yes, baby?”
“can you put it in?”
jungkook’s eyes shoot up at you.
his pleasurable expression changes into a death glare.
instantly, you throw your head back and laugh. you mumble an apology and cup his cheeks to kiss him. he bites your bottom lip as he pulls away. pouting, he huffs at you.
“that wasn’t funny.”
“it was so funny.”
“you’re the worst, actually.”
“i know,” you agree. “i’m sorry. you’re actually really big.”
his glare stills.
“how big?”
you sigh and give in to what he’s leading you to.
“you big daddy,” you begin to praise him. “never felt cock like this. feel you in my guts… god, are you gonna rearrange them? gonna slut me out? bet watching me all this time made you so horny. did i make you horny? was waiting out one month worth it? do i feel good, baby? does your giant monster cock feel good inside me? or… are you just gonna be a little bitch and make me do all the work? make me fuck you like the good little fanboy you are?”
“not a fucking fanboy.”
“but you are my stupid fanboy… you must’ve loved watching me get myself off. how does it feel, daddy? how does it feel to fuck the pussy you’ve been dreaming of?”
jungkook moans in response.
“so good..”
“how good?”
“too good…”
he places one forearm down beside you as the other reaches for your breasts. squeezing it, he begins to thrust in and out of you.
“ohhh.. oh my god… yes, yes, yes! y-yeah, that’s it…” you moan. “just like that, daddy… fucking me so gently… come on, daddy—i know i’m your favourite toy. use me, okay? promise to use me like a little bitch?”
jungkook hisses through his teeth.
“don’t talk about yourself like that, baby. you know how much i—”
“how much you… what?”
love you.
“how much i… god, you’re so pretty. have you always been this pretty? feel like you got prettier.”
with that, he fucks you harder and faster. the switch-up is so crazy that you hit your head on your headboard.
“shit, you okay?”
you can’t help but laugh.
“i’m fine,” you reassure him. “come on, daddy… keep going.”
as he fucks you, your breasts move in unison and he can’t help but drool at the sight. for a split second, you feel him tremble.
it’s like he’s about to give in.
so, you do the only logical thing you can.
you gasp, eyes widening, mouth hanging open in exaggerated shock. then, slowly—dramatically—you stick your arm out, turning your thumb downward like you’ve just witnessed the most tragic disappointment of your life.
“boooooo!”
“w-what the fuck?” jungkook rolls his eyes.
without hesitation, he roughly places his hand over your neck. tightening his grip, he fucks you harder. you gasp for air and roll your eyes back.
you take the feeling it.
how rough and fast he’s pumping himself inside you. how you feel yourself climaxing soon… how wet you are and how it’s spilling into your sheets. how his dick feels inside you—like it belongs inside you.
the curve of his tip hits specific spots inside you that has never been reached before. his length, girth, and motion compliment each other—making him fucking you easily your favourite feeling in the world.
perhaps, he was right about waiting for a month.
the yearning and tension makes all of this feel a million times more worth it.
“nghhh,” you croak. “t-that it, daddy… f-fuck me harder! fuck me so hard!”
“you want me to fuck you harder, baby?”
“mhmm. fuck me so good, please… wanna more.”
jungkook nods and takes his hand off of your throat. he lets you catch your breath before he pulls himself out of you. jungkook places his hands on your waist and pulls you down. without hesitation, he kneels and lifts you. both of your ears ring from how fast your hearts are beating as he takes one and places it on the headboard and leaves the other on the mattress.
“look down,” jungkook spits.
obediently, you do.
he hisses, jerks himself off, and then shoves his cock inside you.
you watch as his balls smack into your ass. you watch as he moves his hips, dragging his dick in and out of you. you hear the sound of your wet pussy, sucking his length as he pulls out. before you know it, jungkook is smacking your ass. you see his hand flying to your cheeks and you let out a whimper as his palms make contact with your ass.
“nghh…. feels so—”
“you wanna be treated like a fucking whore? look at your pussy right now. look at how much it needs my stupid cock. do you see it, baby? do you see how desperate your pussy needs my cock?”
“yeah,” you choke out a sob. “need you so much… my pussy is yours, daddy. so fucking yours—ahh! oh my god, oh my god—j-jungkook!”
he grabs a handful of your hair and pulls you back up. roughly, he tugs your hair and kisses you. you let out a moan as he takes your leg off your headboard and brings you to the edge of your bed. naturally, you get on all fours and arch your back. he gets off the bed and stands behind you. he licks his fingers and explores your folds before placing his dick back inside.
as expected, he fucks you like an absolute dog.
“this is what you wanted, right?”
“m-mhmm,” you moan. “so good. you fuck me so good, daddy..”
“that’s right, baby… only me. god, your ass is so pretty. your tits are so perfect. you’re so… holy fuck, you’re my dream girl.”
“yeah?” you blush, fighting the urge to cum.
“yeah,” jungkook whimpers. “my dream girl.”
with that, he pulls himself out. you crawl back to the middle of your bed and wait for him to join you. when he does, he crashes his lips onto yours and gives you this deep and passionate kiss. like he’s never kissed you before… it feels so new.
without exchanging words, you grab him by his shoulders and have him lie down. you get on top and begin to grind on him. jungkook watches with his brows knitted together and his throat dries as you hump his cock. then, he loses it when you lift your hips and take a hold of his cock.
“can we… can i?”
jungkook nods.
no hesitation. not a thought behind his doe eyes. nothing.
of course, he’d do it raw with you.
anything you want.
with loving eyes, jungkook watches as you peel the condom off his angry cock. you twist the plastic around your fingers and gather it all up before dangling it in front of him.
“you have to cum inside me.”
“okay.”
“promise?”
“promise.”
with that, you toss the condom to the side and giggle. planting your legs on either side of him, you sit on top of his raw cock and rub yourself on it. you move your hips up and down, taking the feeling of how the curves of his dick feel against your swollen pussy. jungkook watches his dick’s tip grow angrier and angrier.
and just when he feels like it’s about to explore—
“ohhh,” you shiver as you sink into his cock. “holy shit…”
jungkook lets out a relieved moan. you hum as he throws his head back and shuts his eyes. you feel him harden even more inside of you. as a reaction, your walls tighten.
“feel so good, baby…”
“yeah? open your eyes, daddy… don’t you wanna watch me fuck you?”
jungkook doesn’t know if he’ll last if he sees this. if he watches your tits bounce or if he watches the way your pussy eats his dick up… he can’t. he’s not strong enough.
“might cum if i do.”
you laugh and hit his chest.
“okay… cum then.”
wiht that, you grab his hand and place it on your breast. jungkook lifts his head and opens his eyes. he watches as you bounce on his dick shamelessly. you throw your head back. your hips move fast and slow—dragging the consuming feeling of climaxing out.
then, jungkook feels his hips about to buck.
“___,” he huffs. “gonna cum…’
“me too,” you pant.
jungkook winces, feeling his toes curl. he feels like he’s just been hit by lightening as this sense of electricity rushes throughout his body. jungkook cums inside you, spilling as you continue to ride him.
shortly after, you cum.
then, you get off him. you fit yourself into jungkook’s arms without a second thought, tucking yourself against his chest like you belong there—because you do. his warmth wraps around you instantly, familiar and safe, and he presses a kiss to your lips, then your forehead, lingering just long enough to make your heart stutter.
then, he murmurs, “so… best dick ever?”
you groan, smacking his chest, but you’re already laughing. you’re already pulling him in for another kiss. he’s already kissing you back.
“best dick ever.”
the room is quiet.
your breathing is even, soft against the pillow, completely knocked out. jungkook lays there for a moment, staring at the ceiling before sighing, pushing the covers off. he’s thirsty.
jungkook rubs a hand over his face as he makes his way to the kitchen, feet padding softly against the floor. he’s thirsty.
but when he gets there, he stops.
hoseok is at the sink, sleeves rolled up, hands submerged in soapy water. his hair is slightly damp, like he’s just gotten home and taken a quick shower. the fridge door is still cracked open from when he shoved the cake inside.
jungkook leans against the counter, watching him. "you just get back?"
hoseok doesn’t look up.
"yeah. figured i’d clean up a bit."
jungkook hums, grabbing a glass. he watches as hoseok rinses a plate, setting it neatly in the drying rack. his movements are methodical, familiar.
"you always do this?" jungkook asks, filling his glass with water. “wash dishes at 3am?”
hoseok shrugs. "she’s sensitive to smell. hates waking up to dirty dishes."
there’s something about the way he says it, like he’s done this a thousand times before, like it’s second nature. jungkook doesn’t like the way that sits in his chest.
jungkook takes a sip of water, trying to figure out the vibe right now. he’s never really had any issues with hoseok before but for some reason… right now… something feels off.
hoseok finishes up, wiping his hands on a towel before tossing it onto the counter.
"you should get some sleep," he says, already heading towards his room.
jungkook swallows the last of his water. "i’ll wash my cup."
hoseok raises a brow. "you don’t have to."
"i want to."
there’s a brief pause before hoseok nods, drying his hands one last time before disappearing down the hall. jungkook turns back to the sink, rinsing out his cup. then, just as he reaches for the faucet, something buzzes.
he glances over. hoseok’s phone, left carelessly on the counter, screen lighting up with a notification.
jungkook shouldn’t look. he knows that.
but he does anyway.
@ donotdisturb: hobi idc if you gave me the video ffs @ donotdisturb: u gave that to me all on ur own. i never asked for that shit. i tweeted it, but u supplied it. get that thru ur fucking head. it’s ur fault. @ donotdisturb: u’ve stalled her enough. she’s pushing thru with the fucking lawsuit thanks to that fucking jungkook guy. do u get that? @ donotdisturb: i’m getting sued and it’s all ur fault @ donotdisturb: shit, what kind of a best friend are u to her anyway? going thru her shit and stealing her fucking sex tape to send to a hater like me when the gag is that u’re her biggest hater. what is that? @ donotdisturb: thought u liked her lol. turns out u’re the worst wannabe boyfriend @ donotdisturb: stop the lawsuit or send me fucking money to pay the settlement. this is ur last warning before i expose u.
jungkook freezes as he reads the notifications.
his grip tightens around the cup. his jaw clenches. the words sit heavy in his stomach, stirring something ugly.
before he can think, before he can stop himself, he picks up the phone and storms down the hall, shoving open hoseok’s door without knocking.
hoseok barely has time to react before jungkook is in his face, voice sharp.
"what the fuck did you do?"
hoseok freezes for half a second, then instantly goes on the defensive. "who the fuck do you think you are barging into my room like this?" he snaps. "why do you have my fucking phone? give me that—”
“it was you.”
“what the fuck are you on? holy shit, you’re so fucking irritating, you know that? i get you’re her boyfriend, but this is my fucking room, that’s my fucking phone, and she’s my fucking best friend—"
"that’s all she is to you," jungkook bites. "right?"
silence.
before hoseok can even open his mouth to say anything, you appear in the doorway, rubbing sleep from your eyes. you don’t even think twice before stepping into jungkook’s side, arms looping around his waist as you nuzzle into him.
"why are you guys so loud?" you mumble, half awake. "what’s going on?"
jungkook doesn’t look away from hoseok. yet, his arm tightens around you.
“___…” hoseok begins. “jungkook… it’s late. we can talk about this tomorrow—”
“no,” jungkook spits. “explain yourself now.”
hoseok steps forward, attempting to grab his phone. jungkook doesn’t move back. instead, he offers the phone to you.
you stare at it blankly.
with worried eyes, hoseok shakes his head. “please, jungkook. i’m begging you. don’t—”
“tell her," jungkook deadpans. his tone is steady and leaves no room for argument. he means it with all his heart when he threatens hoseok; "right now… tell her or i will."

Agree with all of this...
Mexican here, Emilia Pérez is a joke. It's a mocking & xenophobic movie, to the country and to the trans community. They also didn't bother hiring a single Mexican person for this, like OP said, Karla Sofía is a Spaniard, yes, she has worked in Mexican TV but she's from Spain. The french director also recently made racist comments recently, saying that Spanish is for the poor countries and more things, he said this in an interview. Karla Sofía has tweets where she has a transphobic tone and racist tweets, she just broke a rule of the Oscars I think? She talked about a competitor. The others I don't know much.
[...]
1.- The narco is a very serious thing, drugs and cartels, all of that. This movie is about Emilia (Karla Sofía), being a man who's involved in the criminal world, kidnappings, killings, drugs, that kind of thing. Then he hires this detective to help him fake his death, look for a doctor for him to transition ??? And then he becomes Emilia, who apparently regrets everything and tries to help the community, they made a reference to Las Madres Buscadoras (a real group of ladies in México, MOMS (madres), that go look for the people who are missing, most of the time, they often find the cadavers since the police don't bother looking for them. It's a group very well loved that looks for their missing ones) so she just, sort of joins ?? To look for the people she (by being involved in that business) made them disappear ?? And by the end, SHE'S PORTRAYED AS A SAINT ???? This is principally what everyone here hated and why people don't like this movie. It's absurd in every sense, how can you take a matter this serious, as the narco is, and do something this ridiculous?
2.- It's about México, and their Spanish sucks. They don't know anything about the country. It's also literally translated using AI or Google translator, like OP mentioned too. There's a song when they use this word: "you're welcome" in Spanish, there's two ways to say this depending on the context: Bienvenida (you're welcome [to a place] and De nada (when someone is expressing gratitude, and you wanna say you're welcome in this context), they say 'bienvenida' when they're meaning to say, 'de nada' a movie this produced, how can it have these kind of mistakes? They didn't bother getting it correctly. They didn't bother hiring someone who could make the correct translations, someone who's fluent or native, and it's not only this, there's a few scenes where they don't make sense when talking. And their accents...Spanish speaking actors are expected to not have an accent, otherwise they will get made fun of, Sofía Vergara often experiences this 'cause of her accent, but it's okay for them to have an atrocious one, when the movie is set in Mexico and in Spanish ??? Selena Gómez's family is mexican, but she doesn't even have a good accent, and the script doesn't help her, some lines don't make sense 'cause of a bad translation and the accents, some parts are hard to understand.
There's also a part where a kid tells Emilia that she smells like Mezcal (alcohol) and guacamole 💀💀
Also, las madres buscadoras have spoken against the movie saying that even if it's fiction, they're playing with a serious topic that shouldn't be a joke.
3.- The songs. Maybe for some they sound alright, but Latam countries prefer rich instrumentals. Their monotone tones, rhythms and the lyrics in the songs make you wonder why they even sing. Personally, the lyrics suck.
Is this really an Oscar nominee? When there's good movies that could have been nominated instead of this?
I'm probably forgetting about a lot of things, but it's just ridiculous in general. It's a mockery.
People are mad about this, enough that a group of people released a parody about the french, Joanne Sacreblu, as a response to Emilia Pérez.
Emilia Perez. The movie that is supposed to be set in Mexico but shot in France, doesnt feature one mexican actor, actors in it dont speak fluent spanish, where spanish lines sound like written in France then ran through Google translator, where musical numbers is not even songs just actors singing their lines, treats sex change operations as a joke, where leader of a f* cartel gets a redemption arc and insults real cartel victims and french director said there were no talented mexican actors, got 13 Oscar nominations. And won best international film instaed of brasilian movie Im still here.
Its like making a movie about 9/11 victims, hiring only actors from outside of USA who dont even speak fluent english, have non american director who says there were no talented american actors available so he had to hire foreigners and no matter how many americans would shout the movie offends everyone, it would receive 13 Oscar nominations. Or if it was a movie about school shootings and mother of one of the victims would kiss a hand of the mass shooter because he helped her find her kid's body (that happens in this movie)
The fact this movie receives awards at all is a proof people who vote are incredibly far removed from reality and all these communities.

I can't believe someone used Ai for make one concept art for Sonic 3...
Worst of all, I can't belive I'm defending the use of it this time lol.
But for a fair reason, the images here are not purely Ai generated. It's pure alquimia between human artistic habilites and artificial inteligence.
As someone who has studied what a concept artist do, I have to tell you somenthing: this is the kind of artist who most steal and recicle in the whole artist kindom.
If you enter in the profile of this guy, you will notice that he's not a random Ai bro working for Paramount, he's the designer of the eclipse canon, the crab, the crab inside, the early concept of gun base and more. And no, that art is not Ai generated, is purely handmade.
Then, why is the art of Shadow breaking from the prission partially Ai generated if this person is a profesional artist and he could have perfecly made the whole thing by it's own?
Well, I have a silly theory: Japan and Shadow aldeady exist.
I know it sounds like a pretty lame excuse but think about it: the shot the hybird Ai piece is representing is very short in the film. It doesn't have much detail, just Shadow standing at Japan backyards so you don't need to see his face. Shadow, a character that has aldeady been created before. And Japan, a place that already exist. I would like to intuit that this concept was specialy made for stablish a camera angle and position. The work of a concept artist is not to make the art look pretty, is to make funcional drawings that explain things. (And also this artist is specialiced in machines and enviroments specialy so maybe it was also convenient for him to create a Shadow placeholder with Ai instead of drawing the whole thing by his own. If Ai didn't existed I'm pretty sure that he would have used the character 3D model as base for edit that instead)
I have to mention too that the generated Ai Shadow was edited and recicled for convenience acording to the concept necesities like, look at this two pictures. It uses the same base⬇
This is the first time I saw that Ai has an oportunity for be ethical by making the work of an actual artist shorter and easy. I told you before that concept artist are the ones that steal and recicle the most, right? Do you know why is that? Exaclty, for survive deadlines in artistic works. Crunch is that normalized that even Schools teach you how to cheat in concept art.
I find these types of examples as something important to analyze as a concept artist to learn how to use Ai as what it really is: a tool for make our jobs more easy.
Extra note: do not cheat like this if you are still forming yourselve, this tricks are just for save time and you wouldn't learn any art experience from it.
(Also in case any generative Ai bro is watching this: No, don't get your hopes high. You cannot create a proyect purley using Ai and spect it to have sense/be good. You have to still touch a pencil and learn art principles)

Tommy (solo or with your choice of partner) + journaling
Tommy stares at the text he just typed out, his heart racing as his thumb hovers over “send”. At the last moment, he decides: No. I can't do this.
He deletes the words again, his stomach sinking as the moment of courage he had dissolves.
It’s not the first time this has happened. Tommy blames the silence. It creeps into his mind which has gotten so used to listening to Evan talking. Where Evan’s voice once had been there’s now a void and something inside Tommy aches to fill it with words before it can consume him.
There's so much he wants to say. Needs to say. But he couldn’t say the words when he left Evan and he can't say them to the person he's sure hates him now.
The ache stays. Nags. Opens a wound and deepens it. So Tommy opens the notes app and writes it all down there.
Every thought he has about himself. Every apology that wants to pour out of him. Everything that’s wrong with him. Everything he didn’t manage to tell Evan and won’t ever tell because Evan deserves better.
I’m not a hero. I’ve never been a hero. I’ve always been a coward.
I’m an idiot.
I never wanted to hurt you too.
I miss you so much. Miss your smile, your eyes, the way you laugh, miss your warmth, miss the way your lips open and you don’t notice the world around you when you’re really focused, miss holding your hand at night, watching a movie with you, eating dinner with you and talking about the day. I miss you so much, I can barely breathe.
I hope you hate me. You should. You were so hopeful and honest when you said you wanted me to move in with you. And I am the coward who ran before he could see things happening because, in my experience, good things don’t last.
I’m not brave. Of course, you think I am. The truth is, I’ve always been hiding behind some kind of mask. Trying to pretend everything is alright. That I’m alright. I never wanted you to have to deal with all that baggage I’m carrying around. Now I wonder what you would have said if you caught a glimpse of it. It’s selfish, isn’t it? I wanted the good things. I didn’t want the bad things. But it should be both.
Sometimes I dream about going back to you. Asking you for another chance. Like you did. I wonder what you would say. In my dreams, you’re kind and understanding. Maybe I should try. What do I have to lose?
I’m sorry, Evan. * The sky is dark with smoke. Tommy wishes he could see the blue one more time.
Howie is not cracking jokes this time. Instead, he tells Tommy to hold on in a tense and focused voice.
Did my phone burn? Tommy wonders before he gives in and passes out. God. I hope so.
Thanks for asking! <3

100% agree. Barbara's the one who urges Gregory to offer to go to the fancy restaurant with Janine, and then she spends the whole episode trying to guilt him out of sticking to his safe foods. The whole, "napkin, food, smile, 'Thank you!'" thing was gross. There's something to be said about not freaking out at catering staff who are just doing their jobs, but I really disliked the notion that Gregory isn't a proper adult until he conforms to neurotypical expectations and ignores his clear sensory issues around food. "Teaching" him to try fancy food by hiding truffles in one of his safe foods felt really uncomfortable to me.
As for using his military-family background to explain his food habits, a couple things. First, I can actually buy Gregory not having a diagnosis, or not even necessarily being aware that he's autistic. Access to diagnosis is often more about how ND traits affect *other* people than the well-being of the person who has them, and if Gregory did well in school as a kid, I can see him flying under the radar and not being identified, especially as a Black boy. As such, it would make sense that he attributes this to his upbringing, even as he describes his sensory issues. And second, when he talks about his family focusing on food as fuel rather than flavor/everything with its own spot on the plate/no different foods touching, I couldn't help thinking about autism being genetic. If Gregory comes from an autistic family, it makes sense that he would've grown up eating that way and didn't start discovering his issues with other foods until he was in school. It could contribute to his being undiagnosed too--if Gregory's dad sees his traits as "normal" (because he has them too,) he wouldn't think to seek out a diagnosis for his kid.
Now that Janine and Gregory are dating, the show has gone to the "Gregory needs to change for Janine" well multiple times, and those changes are always surrounding his ND traits. Part of what I love about them as a ship in seasons 1-3 is how well they understand and support each other, despite some pretty major differences between them (they're absolutely an Austistic4AuDHD couple for me.) They're good at giving each other what they need, accommodating the other and appreciating the qualities that other characters think are weird. But this season, it's been more "Gregory is weird and uptight, and he has to loosen up to make Janine happy." Not always--I loved how excited they were over their dorky Jurassic Park Halloween costumes, Janine getting hot and bothered over Gregory's encyclopedic knowledge of smoothie shops, and of course, Janine's beautiful "I'd never take you anywhere [to eat] without buttered noodles." I wish the show would give us more of that energy instead of repeatedly asking Gregory to put aside his discomfort and conform when it comes to things that very obviously feel like his ND traits.
I will say, I like the bait-and-switch in the last scene where they're at the fancy restaurant together. As Gregory favorably describes the various French foods, Janine admits that she can't eat it and Gregory sighs, "Oh thank god, I was really trying" (paraphrased.) It cracks me up when they just abandon their table, with Janine assuring Gregory that they can pay on their way out. That's the Janine/Gregory I love!
I was kind of disappointed with the most recent episode of Abbott Elementary, Girared Creek. Part of me understands that there are various reasons why the show might not want to say he's autistic, but the other part is frustrated to see yet another character's defining and comedic traits relying so heavily on what we, the nuerodivergent audience, see as parts of ourselves.
Because in this episode, Gregory's food specifications are brought up, as we've seen before. And while I know Barbara had good intentions as a very loving character, she pretty much guilts him into trying new foods for the sake of his relationship with Janine. Not only that, but the episode is resolved by him "overcoming" his preferences when Barbara secretly adds some fancy clove to his (safe food) buttered noodles.
I'm glad it worked out for his character, but through a neurodivergent lens, that would have been such an awful thing to do. This feeling is enhanced by an earlier scene in the episode, where we hear Greg using some pretty specific adjectives in describing his aversion of more complicated dishes: "crusted," "chewy," "a bunch of flavors on the same plate." It honestly just seemed like a signal or nod to some sensory issues.
But ultimately, we're given a different explanation when he talks about his family's military background and their rigid food routines. Then the A plot gets resolved by the team threatening the golf club owner with Gregory, having overcome his food-related "deficits," eating his extremely expensive mushrooms. All together, it sounds like a nuerodivergent-coded character, whose vulnerabilities and traits were kinda just being used as a plot device.
A part of me appreciates the writing having tied everything together at the end, and the value of opening yourself up to new things. But there's a balance, and for neurodivergence, there's accommodations. Again I understand that they may not have imagined their character to be diagnosed and there are many other reasons to why they wouldn't call him autistic, but I'm just sayin that personally, I was disappointed anyways.
