with little to do and an even lesser desire to interact with most people, you sit beside Foul Legacy and write.

he and Childe think it'll be good for you, a way to detail all that you've been through, all that you suffered. Legacy ventures out into the world when he's sure you're warmly tucked beneath the blankets, seeking out paper and notebooks and pens to purchase and bring you. the nice ones, too- he's a Harbinger, he can afford to get you fine parchment and ink, little presents to make you happy. it's his way of making up for how the world has treated you, even though he can never undo your scars and wounds.

the ink is the same deep gold of the mended cracks on your skin. Legacy nudges the glass jar gently into your hands, purring when you slowly smile. you dip the pen, smoothing out the new paper and relishing how the nib glides over the smooth, rich surface- before, you never even guessed a sheet of paper could be a work of art. slowly the words form, gleaming as your scars do, an Abyssal monster by your side and watching, watching happily as the stories of the Creator are finally recorded.

It's a small-scale, uplifting apocalyptic tale. (I think this is hopepunk?)

Things that happen at the SOLDIER Department annual picnic:

Kunsel only gets around to drinking three of the beers he brought, but they're three different niche craft beers with an alcohol content of at least 8% and at least one of them is a rare release.

Angeal works the grill, communicating only in grunts and terse gestures. Once he hits his stride, there are no lines for food, even on stations that have nothing to do with the grill. He asks you how you want your burger but only takes "well done" for an answer.

Somehow, without uttering a word, he sows enough fear, uncertainty, and doubt that the only potato salad that gets eaten is the one he brought.

Genesis has bathed in bug spray and can be smelled from three meters away. He tries to reapply it after going for a swim in the lake and gets chased out of the pavilion before he can bomb everyone with it.

Genesis loves swimming but hates the sensation of pond weed touching him, so he monopolizes three pool noodles and swims around awkwardly on the surface of the water. (He's not the only one.)

Sephiroth has bathed in sunscreen and can be smelled from four meters away.

Many suspect his sunglasses are fully opaque and he is navigating by ear.

Zack and Aerith bring several very large bins of prefilled water balloons. The glares Zack receives suggest that these will go unused (or else), but once the sheet cake has been cut, distributed, and eaten, a mysterious, silent signal goes out and the entire department adjourns to a nearby field.

Nobody glares at Aerith.

They're very mistaken, she thinks.

An afternoon rainstorm turns the water balloon fight into a mud slide and mud slinging free-for-all.

Lazard brought goggles and his swim cap this year.

But he still ends up riding home with mud caked into every stitch of clothing he has on.

One of the funniest rants I’ve had a pleasure to hear (in my opinion) was some of my non-US friends going off about how we have way too many words for carbonated beverages.

I happily got to explain most of the words we use (cola, soda, pop, etc) all used to refer to slightly different mixtures when they were made at soda fountains and apothecaries/pharmacies. But that’s been mostly forgotten.

This led to what I’ll refer to as an annoyed understand. Then I made the mistake of saying “soft drink.”

Immediately: “what the fuck is a soft drink?”

Me: “something that’s non-alcoholic.”

Insert immediate European and Russian rage

she yaps! no surprise there ౨ৎ

the actual day of today was so much better than the morning oh my gosh today was good. like really good. but it was one of those days that you don't realise how good it was until it's been and gone. but a few of my friends were running a stall at school today to raise money for the worlds greatest shave, and it went really well. maths made sense today, which is always such a win like i just really love when things make sense. and i know i've said it countless times but the weather is warm again and it just makes my heart happy.

my team won our game in PE today!

the teachers and year 12s all dressed up as their five year old selves which was really sweet

patch saw a sunflower and said it reminded her of me <3

i had a pretty long conversation with one of my guy friends which was really nice

i've started writing my resumé

a butterfly landed on my nose and i felt like it was a good sign
