“Issue #11: We’re Held Together By Spiderweb”

Phew! Here’s the next issue. This one is a little extra wordy, because it’s tackling Plumstripe, Beeface, and Redpelt’s introductory arcs for the comic. Just the way things shook out in my writing. 

When Plumstripe refers to “water collection”, she means a specific task that BarrenClan cats do every day. Because they live in such an arid environment, water has to actively be collected from nearby sources; the pond and underground caves, usually using absorbant moss or wood. There’s also an emergency source of water in the medicine den that doesn’t evaporate.

I’ve got come clean, I copped the scribbly burst around Redpelt’s head in the last page from a recent page of my friend Maddy’s comic Cursed Lights. I liked the effect so much I wanted to try and replicate it. Go read Cursed Lights!! (on DA and Instagram @//thegreatmaddu)

I love how BMO is so happy to see Marceline and the way they happily hang onto her leg is just so precious.

This makes me think of the episode "Ketchup" and that was such a wholesome BMO and Marceline episode for sure.

Issue 11 was a fun one as things are now all coming to a head. Something that's really grabbed me by surprised is just how fun and delightful Two-Face is. My familiarity with him is limited to TAS, the movies, and the Arkham Games, and I've always liked him but I didn't realize how great he can be. Rest in Pieces, Zucco. Only a pity you died before you could finish talking. And the ending is exciting. Wilcox definitely recognizes her killer. I'm curious if it's Lopez. I know The Dark Knight pulls heavily from The Long Halloween, and I think Lopez was the name of the one dirty cop in that. Two issues to go.
