Whilst you were used to being teased by a lot of the Shutoku students for being a 'street rat', it seemed it had taken a whole new other level when you arrived at school the next day. Your entire desk had been scribbled over, many insults could be read on it. Slut, whore, cheap fuck. Reading all of them made you feel a little sick but you sat down regardless and you heard one of your classmates snicker. You ignored it but in the back of your mind you wondered if he did it. The class started pretty quickly and you focused as much on what the teacher was saying so your focus wouldn't be on your desk. You scribbled amongst your notes as you suddenly felt something hit the back of your head. Looking around, you saw an eraser lying close to your chair and you could see the girl sitting behind you smirking at you. You grabbed the eraser and put it on your desk, not giving the girl any satisfaction. Seriously, what had happened that caused everyone to jump at the chance to mess with you like this? You felt hurt, confused and somewhat angry. Clutching onto your textbook with dear life, you endlessly tried to distract yourself. You dreaded the moment lunch break would arrive, because if life on the streets taught you anything, it was hypervigilance and you feared the bullies would strike the moment your teacher would retreat to the teacher's lounge for his lunch. When the lunch bell rang, your heart dropped as the teacher left for the teacher's lounge. You quickly grabbed your things, deciding to eat out on the campus rather then in your class and you were glad to do so as the girl behind you started whispering to her friend in the seat next to her, their malicious gaze aimed at you. With a deep sigh, you breathed in the fresh air as you stepped outside. You decided to sit down on one of the empty benches, not a lot of students having decided to sit outside as whilst it did not rain, it was far from a sunny nice day. Just as you sat, you noticed Isaya Shoto, one of your former friends, was approaching you with a nasty look on his face. You felt weary, even when you still had been friends, Isaya had been the one who talked the most shit about you and it had became quite clear after the event with Suzuka that he had only been pretending to be your friend so he could make use of you. This clearly wasn't spelling out something good and you couldn't help but wonder suspiciously if he had anything to do with what was happening. You tried to remain as collected as possible as Shoto stood stil in front of you, his eyes regarding you with a dark glee. "How's life been going for you? Did the eraser left a little bump-bump on the princess' head?" You gritted your teeth and rolled your eyes, trying to remain calm. "Did you do something? And don't give me any bullshit answer, Shoto." Shoto huffed, glaring at you. "I simply thought it would be nice for everyone to know Ichijo was staying at your place and how naíve Midorima was for not even considering you could be cheating on him." Your mouth dropped open, in total shock. Honestly, you couldn't believe what was happening. How could he?! "You know damn well that Ichijo's house burnt down and that he has nowhere to go! I'm just being a good friend, a concept you are clearly unfamiliar with." "Don't be so judgy, little princess. It's not like any of us are too blind to see how close the two of you are. Where is he anyways? Did he overdose already?" His cruel remarks were just cutting into you, and you got up. Because he was physically stronger then you were, you did not risk a fight. So instead, you decided to skip school for the rest of the day, but you didn't wanted to give Shoto the feeling like you were running with your tail between your legs. "I wonder how you're going to be feeling at the end of the school year when you're forced to repeat a year, or worse, with your poor grades. I'm so sorry you don't have a friend who can help you anymore." You smiled just as mean as he did, and walked away as he glared angrily at you.

Recently I came up with a theory. (not sure if that's a theory though)

Purebloods had to keep the line, that is pureblood women HAD to get pregnant and bear children.

It doesn't sound fair to me, since they shouldn't be pushed into that. Yes, their life span is long, but pureblood families were forced to be dads and moms. (some of them indeed enjoyed and wanted it, of course, I'm not eliminating that, but some of them didn't) How were women, who didn't want to raise children treated?

Also portraying women, such as Yuuki (back at the cross academy), who need to be saved by their love interest, or them appearing weaker. Like she was too dumb or immature. I know Yuuki wasn't this mature, but she isn't weak. Why do these have fewer action scenes?

Initial thoughts of vkm ch.34

I’m curious to know what Ai and Taro were talking about. I also like the fact that we get to see two purebloods: Isaya and Tokiwa. It looks like Yuuki is sending out messages through her butterflies (or she’s gonna spy on people?). Plus, there is an unknown girl in the chapter that we see right before Aido (the one with the construction people--it looks like). She gave me Ruka vibes for a moment, but I don’t think we’ve seen this character before. 

Finally, those last few panels with Hanabusa were kinda sad. I have no idea what he’s saying or thinking, but Aido was showing a lot of emotions and it made me feel bad for the guy. Otherwise, I love his new hair! I never would’ve imagined Aido with longer hair, and frankly I don’t whether it’s funny or cool (or both).

I hope we get to see a little bit more of Yuuki and Zero’s side of the story (like what they’re doing). Since we got a glimpse of Yuuki, I think we might see them in this new volume sometime. I’d also like to see what Ren is doing; hopefully we get a chapter of her training. In any case, it seems like Hino is really focused on the “Ai, Queen of vampires, and Taro, the prince” plotline for now. I hope we get to see human Kaname’s story soon. I still have a feeling that Hino is showing all of this stuff related to Taro (Aogiri) for a specific reason that is related to what we saw in chapter 28 and 29. But, at the end of the day, who knows...it’s Hino we’re talking about. We can’t get our expectations too high.

Masterpost By now, it was public news you and Midorima were dating. Midorima drifted through it all with his usual uncaring attitude, but you knew some of the worst ones did affect him. Of course it did, Midorima wasn't a boy made of stone, he simply had a hard shell and beneath it all was someone caring who was hurt that they called you all kinds of names. You were used to it however, now people were just voicing the contempt you always knew they had for you. With your teeth clenched, you marched on and tried not to let the words chip away at you. What you hadn't expected, and this was far worse, was how your old friend group started to bully you. "So this was why you were acting so uptight when Suzuka got some money from you, huh? Does the princess think she's too good for us now?" Anna Komori, one of your old close friends sneered at you. "Who are you calling a princess?!" You hissed, "She stole money from me Anna." You couldn't help but get defensive, your heart was too fragile in the faces of the people you loved. It could withstand the nameless faces, but not that. Never that. "It was just a couple of yen, it was hardly a big deal. Truth is, you've always been an egotistical wench. You order us around like a princess waving her sceptre and you're so ridiculously far up your own ass. Oh, I scored 82% without even studying, I am so smart!" Isaya Shoto's mocking voice brought tears to your eyes. You remembered boasting a little when you got that score, you had been so proud of yourself. During the test, you had been very nervous as you hadn't found the time to study and you were so scared you had failed. "Didn't she wrote an entire essay for you on history last month so you could understand it better, Shoto?" Ichijo came to your defense, his voice filled with a controlled rage. "Considering you keep failing epically and are going to be held back at this rate? I bet she taught you what a sceptre even is! Ever heard of 'not biting the hand that feeds'? You placed your hand on his shoulder, fearing the two would break out into a fight. "Is that from a sermon, choir boy?" Isaya hissed and you couldn't hold Ichijo back anymore.

Thank the universe Takao was on shift at the infirmary again, because only he could have understood the anger Ichijo felt, being the friend who couldn't defend you or Midorima from the rude mass of students out there. "You're lucky your nose isn't broken," he said as stopped the blood coming from Ichijo's nose. "Well Shoto's lucky I only knocked one of his teeth out." Ichijo retorted. "At this rate you'll be suspended." You said disapprovingly, though deep inside you couldn't be mad at Ichijo for sticking up for you. You'd do the same for him. That's how it's always been. "I don't care whatever school I graduate from. A fancy looking diploma is nothing if it was on the expense of swallowing my values." Ichijo retorted. Sometimes, he surprised you with his wisdom as he wasn't the brightest student and neither was he sober most of the time. You secretly liked to compare him to the caterpillar from Alice In Wonderland because of it. "Well it's great to have friends, but you really should think of yourself too Ichijo-san." Takao said with a stern kindness that made you feel like Midorima might be rubbing off on him a little bit. You hoped the incident wouldn't upset him further, and you internally scolded yourself for fretting so much. It wasn't like Midorima was that fragile, if anything he had a unexpected strong spine that you really admired. Honestly, if there was one effect you never talked about much, but what came out of you growing up in the hood, was how scared you were for the ones you loved and how deeply you wanted to protect them from any harm. You could tell Ichijo knew what this felt like too, in his own way, as he brushed off Takao's concerned words. In a world were you grew up feeling unsafe, you clung to the people you had and you were desperate to keep them safe and be kept safe. They were all you had, really. But you were tired, so tired, of being scared.

What do you think of Kaien X Isaya and Takuma X Kaname head cannons? Personally I like the Kaien X Isaya head cannon, but Takuma X Kaname is too much for me. They're best friends and nothing more.

Hey there! Thanks for the question!

So, to be honest, I don’t really know why people ship Kaien and Isaya. I really don’t mind it at all, since there’s no harm in their relationship. It seems like a cool ship and it’s not too weird for me to think of Kaien as gay (since it’s referenced in the manga jokingly, especially in the beginning) or at least bisexual since he had a thing for Juuri. 

When it comes to Takuma and Kaname, I can sort of--and I repeat SORT OF--understand why some people ship them. Buuuut, it’s really iffy to me personally because I see them more as best friends as well. If there was anyone that seemed to have romantic feelings for Kaname in the manga and was a guy, it would be Hanabusa. In fact, I’d say that both Takuma and Hanabusa can be compared in that respect. Hanabusa has a--what I like to call--”pureblood crush”, where he’s more in love with the awe-inspiring aura of the pureblood than the pureblood himself. The guy literally blushes in Kaname’s presence, talks about him with such a high esteem, and protects Kaname’s reputation for him (even the anime goes a step further by replacing Ruka with him during Zero’s confrontation in ep.3--I think). But of course, this crush is nothing like romantic love; and the more Hanabusa is close with Kaname, the more the crush fades away and just becomes respect and admiration. In Takuma’s case, he’s nothing like that with Kaname. In fact, he’s perhaps the most relaxed, laidback, aristocrat with Kaname. This, to me at least, means that Takuma mot definitely does not have a “pureblood crush” for Kaname; and that’s just if we used Hanabusa as a reference. If you want to dig deeper, Takuma has also experienced a pureblood crush of his own, where it is specifically stated that he confuses this with romantic love. This is of course with Sara. The way he’s with Sara is very similar to how Hanabusa is with Kaname (only difference being that Hanabusa would sometimes question Kaname’s actions). 

Takuma already had his romantic/crush phase with a pureblood, and it wasn’t with Kaname. While the ending of the original series was cut short, we do see that Takuma decides to finally stay by Kaname’s side in the end. I don’t see this as romantic love, but as a realization of his true friendship with Kaname. With Sara, he was all confused and was almost sure that they had a romantic relationship. With Kaname, on the other hand, he’s more secure and feels at home (remember when he made tea whilst the trio were having a serious and awkward meeting during the final chapters? The man was in his element!). In some ways, his friendship with Kaname is a little similar to Hanabusa’s friendship with Yuuki.

And sure, I’ll admit that it’s possible that Takuma was confused with how he felt towards Kaname--whether they actually were friends or they were just master and servant--and I think that’s what the whole point of his relationship with Sara was: to understand what it actually means to be treated like a servant by a pureblood instead of a friend, which of course leads him to the realization that Kaname truly was his friend all along. 

I think the real thing about Takuma and Kaname’s relationship that attracts people to it is just how their friendship/relationship seems genuine. It doesn’t feel forced (like it might have felt with Takuma and Sara). When I see the two together (especially with vkm and how Takuma is constantly there with frozen Kaname) it really makes me want to know more about their friendship and how the got to know each other. 

Oh yeah! Another clear indicator for Takuma to actually have romantic feelings towards Kaname would be if he openly talks about being bitten by him, or if he shares a desire to be bitten by him. This is something that others who have had pureblood crushes desire: to be bitten by their “sempai”. It’s no secret that the act of biting in vk is actually considered an erotic one (and not only in vampire knight, but in a lot of other vampire media, the act of drinking blood was sometimes a way to replace sex scenes). For example, Ruka, who had a clear crush on Kaname, desired for him to drink her blood on a few occasions. Even Hanabusa might’ve actually thought about it since he was sooo descriptive with Yuuki in ch.4, saying that she’d be in “ecstasy” when hearing the sound of Kaname drinking her blood (mmmk, self-insert much?). 

But Takuma, he never has demonstrated desiring such a thing. So I think it’s pretty safe to say that he doesn’t have any romantic feelings for Kaname. But of course, if someone ships them together, by all means do what pleases you, so long as it hurts no one :)
