Bowen's Daily Meditations
by Rev. George Bowen
Devotional for December 20th
"The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory." - Isaiah 60:19
There cometh a time when the hidden relations now existing between the Church and her God, shall be altogether manifest; when the tabernacle of God shall be with men; when the Church shall be clear as the sun, fair as the moon, and terrible as an army with banners. She will possess not solely an inward glory in her purity and moral resemblance to her Redeemer, but the glory of God, even the heavenly glory that dazzles the seraphim, shall invest her with an inconceivable splendor. No longer in his humiliation and in discredited divinity will Christ dwell in the midst of his little flock, as when on the earth in his flesh. No longer discernible as now only by the power of the Spirit and by the eye of faith, he will then dwell among them in the glory which he had before the world was; nay, with an enhanced glory. They shall see his face and his name shall be in their foreheads. The sun himself shall have no glory by reason of the glory that excelleth, when mortality shall have been swallowed up in life, when Christ shall be glorified in his saints and admired in every one that believeth, when the righteous shall shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

Isaiah 60: A Better Country, A Beautiful City
The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you by night, but the Lord will be your everlasting light, Isaiah 60:19 (NRSVUE) #SecondComing #HeavenlyCity
The final part of Isaiah’s prophecy goes far beyond earthly brilliance. “The sun shall no longer be your light by day,nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you by night, but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.Your sun shall no more go down or your moon withdraw itself, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of…

Verse of the Day 12-3-22
Jesus: The Light of the World Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12 In this verse Jesus declares himself to be “the light of the world.” This is the second of Jesus’ seven “I am” statements1. While the expression appears simple and straightforward on the outside, the…

God is bigger than your problems and He can turn everything around.
Little children, you are of God, and have overcome them; for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. (Isaiah 60: 19)
The sun will no longer be your light in the day, and the moon will no longer shine on you. But the LORD will be your everlasting light; your God will be your glory (Isaiah 60:19).
07/21Good words of wisdom
1. How far your footprints are, how wide your heart is. Only with a broad mind will you be happy. If you can’t walk far, let books take you. Broaden your horizons with the help of knowledge.
2. You must learn to cook, it has nothing to do with serving your family. It is when the people who love you are not around, you can still treat yourself well and survive independently.

The άνάλαβος (analavos) is the distinctive garment of a monk or a nun tonsured into the highest grade of Orthodox monasticism, the Great Schema, and is adorned with the instruments of the Passion of Christ. It takes its name from the Greek αναλαμβάνω (“to take up”), serving as a constant reminder to the one who wears it that he or she must “take up his cross daily” (Luke 9:23). The ornately-plaited Crosses that cover the analavos, the polystavrion (πολυσταύρον, from πολύς, “many,” and σταυρός, “Cross”) — a name often, though less accurately, also applied to the analavos — reminds the monastic that he or she is “crucified with Christ” (Galatians 2:20).
With regard to each image on the analavos, the rooster represents “the cock [that] crowed” (Matthew 26:74; Mark 14:68 Luke 22:60; John 18:27) after Saint Peter had “denied thrice” His Master and Lord (John 13:38).
The pillar represents the column to which Pilate bound Christ “when he scourged Him” (Mark 15:15) “by Whose stripes we were healed” (Isaiah 53:5; I Peter 2:24).
The wreath garlanding the Cross represents the “crown of thorns” (Matthew 27:29; Mark 15:17; John 19:2) that “the soldiers platted” (John 19:2) and “put upon the head” (Matthew 27:29) of “God our King of old” (Psalm 73:13), Who freed man from having to contend against “thorns and thistles in the sweat of his brow” (Genesis 3:18-19).
The upright post and the traverse beam represent the stipes and the patibulum that formed “the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6:14), upon which “all day long He stretched forth His hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people” (Isaiah 65:2; Romans 10:21).
The four spikes at the center of the Cross and the hammer beneath its base represent the “nails” (John 20:25) and hammer with which “they pierced” (Psalm 21:16; John 19:37) “His hands and His feet” (Luke 24:40). when they “lifted up from the earth” (John 12:32) Him Who “blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us by nailing it to His Cross” (Colossians 2:14).
The base upon which the Cross stands represents “the place, which is called 'Calvary' (Luke 23:33), or 'Golgotha', that is to say, the Place of the Skull” (Matthew 27:33), “where they crucified Him” (John 19:18) Who “wrought salvation in the midst of the earth” (Psalm 73:13).
The skull and crossbones represent “the first man Adam” (I Corinthians 15:45), who by tradition “returned unto the ground” (Genesis 3:19) at this very spot, the reason that this place of execution, “full of dead men’s bones” (Matthew 23:27) became the place where “the last Adam was made a quickening spirit” (I Corinthians 15:45).
The plaque on top of the Cross represents the titulus, the “title” (John 19:19-20), with “the superscription of His accusation” (Mark 15:26), which “Pilate wrote” (John 19:19) “and set up over His head” (Matthew 27:37); however, instead of “Jesus of Nazareth the king of the Jews” (John 19:19), which “was written over Him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew” (Luke 23:38), the three languages being an allusion to the Three Hypostases “of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19), this titulus reads, “The King of Glory” (Psalm 23:7-10), “for had they known it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (I Corinthians 2:8).
The reed represents the “hyssop” (John 19:29) upon which was put “a sponge full of vinegar” (Mark 15:36), which was then “put to His mouth” (John 19:29) when in His “thirst they gave Him vinegar to drink” (Psalm 68:21), Him of Whom it was said that “all wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth” (Luke 4:22).
The lance represents the “spear [that] pierced His side”; “and forthwith came there out blood and water” (John 19:34) from Him Who “took one of Adam's ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof" (Genesis 2:21) and Who “washed us from our sins in His own blood” (Revelation 1:5).
The plaqueat the bottom of the Cross represents the suppedaneum of Christ, “His footstool” (Psalm 98:5), “the place where His feet have stood” (Psalm 131:7). It is slanted because, according to one tradition, at the moment when “Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the spirit” (Mark 15:37), He allowed a violent death spasm to convulse His legs, dislodging His footrest in such a manner that one end pointed upwards, indicating that the soul of the penitent thief, Saint Dismas, “the one on His right hand” (Mark 15:27) would be “carried up into Heaven” (Luke 24:51), while the other end, pointed downwards, indicated that the soul of the impenitent thief, Gestas, “the other on His left” (Mark 15:27), would “be thrust down to Hell” (Luke 10:15), showing that all of us, “the evil and the good, the just and the unjust” (Matthew 5:45), “are weighed in the balance” (Ecclesiasticus 21:25) of the Cross of Christ.
The ladder and the pincers beneath the base of the Cross represent the means of deposition by which Saint Joseph of Arimathea, “a rich man” (Matthew 27:57) who “begged for the body of Jesus” (Matthew 27:58; Luke 23:52), “took it down” (Luke 23:53), so that as in body He descended from the Cross, so in soul “He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth” (Ephesians 4:9), “by which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison” (I Peter 3:19).
Through these instruments, “the Cross of Christ” (I Corinthians 1:17: Galatians 6:12; Philippians 3:18) became the “Tree of Life” (Genesis 2:9; 3:22, 24; Proverbs 3:18, 11:30; 13:12; 15:4; Revelation 2:7; 22:2,14), by which the Lord Jesus reified His words that, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26).

Why do you worship your god YHWH as the only one? This is a legitimate question? What good does it do for you? Everything your god has done for you shouldn't have anything to do with his status, or uniqueness. I've seen the power of gods alien to your own, from Hel (the goddess I'm closest to, though I do worship others), I've seen her stop animals from moving, protect the sick and wounded, and cause a blind preacher to see her and flee. And I've felt her love, felt her comfort (I probably wouldn't even identify as agender if it wasn't for her help). But because she is not your god you would call this demonic? And say my soul is bound for damnation? Why not admit the existence of other gods, and keep to your own if you wish. How can your relationship with your god even be safe if you can't leave for another? How can it be called anything but bigotry to deny another god's divinity while you worship one yourself?
hey !! i'll try and answer all your questions.
"Why do I worship God as the only God?" - Because according to the Bible, He is the only God. It's mentioned several times in the Bible (1 Kings 8:60, 2 Samuel 7:22, 1 Corinthians 8:4-6, to name a few). It would be heresy for me to believe in the Christian God and then try and affirm the existence of other gods. My relationship with God, as my protector, does me a lot of good and is very safe (Isaiah 41:10, 1 Timothy 2:7), and I believe only in Him because I do not need anyone else (Phillipians 4:19). He is abundance. Also, even if there were multiple gods, I'd still choose Him, because of the good He's done in my live and the lives of others. Finally, whilst there are a lot of bigots in Christianity, we are specifically called to be the opposite of that (Luke 14:7-11). I accept you have God-given free will to worship who you please, but in order to be truly saved, worshipping Him is the only answer.
"What about the existence of other gods/goddesses? I've seen XYZ." The actions you talk about Hel doing are all things God has done. Protecting animals (Psalm 50:10-11), healing the sick (James 5:14-15) and people running away from God (Genesis 19:26). Regarding the last one, how do you know that the blind preacher saw Hel specifically? Do you have any evidence to confirm that?
"What about the existence of other gods/goddesses? I've felt XYZ." God has also been shown to be a source of love (1 John 4:16) and comfort (Psalm 23:4). It's awesome that you've discovered your gender identity ! Are you sure Hel was the reason for that...
"Is this demonic? Is my soul bound for damnation?" You are not demonic. You are just, as respectfully as I can put it, worshipping a false god. That doesn't define you as a person. As for whether you are bound for damnation, literally no one believes in predestination apart from Calvinists. One of the main ideas in Christianity is that God has unlimited mercy and grace, and He will welcome you with open arms the second you repent and let Him in. No matter how far you've strayed, you can always come back ^-^.
Okay, I think that was all your questions. Hopefully you have answers, but if you're still unsure, just ask me again !! Also, I have questions for you.
-I'm assuming you're a pagan (last I checked, Hel was a pagan goddess, though idk a lot about paganism tbh). Do you have some kind of book/scripture/anything that affirms your belief in pagan god(desse)s? The pagan version of the Bible, essentially.
-In a similar vein, how did you get started with paganism?
-Were you ever involved in Christianity?
-You talk a lot about pluralism (the belief that multiple gods from different religions can coexist) but you seem reticent to admit the existence of the Christian God. Why? What about Him specifically makes you not want to believe in Him?
Sorry if I'm being rude, I'm really just trying to understand as much as I can ! Have a good day !! Jesus loves you ❤️ 🙏

December 19, 2023 Exhortation
"And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men" (Luke 2:52). If it was necessary for Jesus to grow in His favor, then it is certainly necessary for you as well.
Your favor will grow as you learn to steward it for the benefit of others. Stewarding your favor involves discipling and equipping new believers into their Christ identity -- like Paul did in the early churches.
"The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end." (Isaiah 60:19-20)
Satan whispers his crafty manipulations, steals your time, and drains you of spiritual passion. As a carrier of His light, you will step into your Christ calling to displace the thick darkness with the powerful Kingdom of light that you carry. His glory, His weighty presence, rises upon you, and the world is watching and waiting for you to step fully into your destiny and to arise and shine.
You expect to go from glory to glory as God opens impossible doors for the Kingdom elevating assignment He is giving you so you can bear fruit that remains for His Kingdom and glory.

Jesus Rises!
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. — Matthew 28 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Proverbs 8:15; Isaiah 9:6; Jeremiah 26:2; Daniel 7:9; Daniel 10:6; Matthew 9:31; Matthew 12:14; Matthew 12:40; Matthew 14:27; Matthew 16:21; Matthew 23:7; Matthew 26:32; Matthew 27:2; Matthew 27:8; Matthew 27:56 Matthew 27:60-61; Matthew 27:65-66; Mark 1:45; Mark 14:28; Mark 15:41; Mark 16:4; Mark 16:7; Mark 16:11; Luke 24:47; John 20:14; John 20:17; Acts 1:2-3; Acts 1:8; Acts 18:10; Revelation 1:17
