i just know that sirius and regulus have the worst taste in food. like they grew up eating the most absurd upscale british wizard meals, the kind of thing that would put a normal person into a coma.
james would be like “oh sirius, what’s regulus’s fav food? i’ll make it for his birthday”
and sirius would reply like “it’s super easy. it’s bird beak jello with flavorless gravy on top”

Irish Merrow inspired Mermaid
In Irish mythology/stories/fairytales, etc there are mermaid like figures called merrow. The women are beautiful and try to drown sailors, the men are not as visually entrancing and stay a lot further away. They have green hair, green scales and tales, delicate webbing between their fingers and red hats that make their deep water diving possible. I decided against trying to fight the color palette with such a direct point of contrast so I opted to make the red the head-covering portion of her shawl/cloak instead. Cheating? Yes... but she's brushing her hair...that's totally the reason she's not wearing her cap.

The Bardic Tradition
I made a long thread explaining in detail all the symbolism in this piece when I first posted it. That's lost to time now, thanks Elon. I'll try to rewrite it to the best of my ability in an abridged form.
The basic gist is that its a visual representation of the ancient Gaelic bardic tradition. Seated in the center is St. Colmcille, composing an old Irish hymn to St. Brigid, "Brigit bé bithmaith". He is holding hazel nuts, symbols of knowledge / inspiration in Irish legend. On the two pillars on either side of him are King David (left) and Orpheus (right), two famous poets from antiquity. Two legendary poets from Irish legend, Oisín and Amergin, are situated above each pillar respectively. The two fish are seen swimming "upstream" (as in the legend of the Salmon of Knowledge) toward a sheela na gig, a architectural feature / grotesque of early Irish churches which some consider to be symbols of femininity, meant to ward off evil. At the top of the image, hands from a cloud (representing God) release a white dove (representing the Holy Spirit) down to St. Brigid. She owes her angelic appearance to her being considered both a pagan goddess and Christian saint. She is guarding a flame, which symbolises poetic inspiration, and which can be seen floating above the heads of all the other figures.

Wise words from a man who seems to be the combined reincarnation of Karl Marx and Jesus Christ. 😔🙏 I would join this man's cult no question.

If a friend of mine gave a feast, and did not invite me to it, I should not mind a bit. But if a friend of mine had a sorrow and refused to allow me to share it, I should feel it most bitterly. If he shut the doors of the house of mourning against me, I would move back again and again and beg to be admitted so that I might share in what I was entitled to share. If he thought me unworthy, unfit to weep with him, I should feel it as the most poignant humiliation.

endure 🏳️‍⚧️
organise ⭐️ support ⭐️ resist
community is everything, now more than ever — in my personal life i know i wouldn’t be where i am now without the support of my tiny family, friends and community.
yesterday’s news was hard to swallow, for the fear for all my friends living in the US, all the far r1ght c*nts emboldened by it here, the future of p4lestine, climate action, and what it means for us all going forward.
we have an election coming at the end of the month in Ireland and i want to really hope for change our vote might bring, but as a trans working class person it’s easy to feel a bit disheartened rn. but! collective action and art and keeping up the fight is so important. endure.
solidarity to you all and fck the fash

Not sure if "nostalgic" would be the correct word for what I'm feeling this morning, but thats the only word I can come up with.
When I first moved to Ireland, I had nothing but a backpack full of whatever I could stuff in it. Some clothes, my laptop, a kindle, and a pair of headphones. I searched endlessly for work cleaning houses, walking dogs, anything I could do to keep myself head above water in a new country, all while trying to make my music with whatever free time I could spare.
I remember how excited I was to buy a bike to help save my legs from walking 20,000+ steps a day, and then how proud I felt when I saved enough money to buy an electric scooter. These tiny milestones I fondly look back on, and today is no exception.
That was just a little over a year ago. Now, I am steady. Still self employed, but my income is good, and I have more time to dedicate to my music. Somehow throughout everything, Ive managed and still manage to keep myself not only afloat, but put food in my fridge, pay my bills, and have a bit extra left over to stick into savings, as well as pay for a few fun things here and there.
I suppose the words my mind is searching for would be "greatful", "proud", "accomplished", and "content".
Life so far has been a weird, wacky, stressful, painful, disturbing and downright heartbreaking journey these past 26 to 27 years of my life. And honestly, despite the pain and awful things I've been through, Im not too sure if I'd change any of it, if its what it took to get me where I am now.
If anyone is reading this wee blog of mine, just know that no matter where you find yourself in life, there is always a way.
Nothing is impossible. Just difficult.
