As disinterested and aloof as Naraku attempted to be, he was undeniably curious about each little thing Kagome brought back from the future. Digging into some small pocket of her bag, her textbook and homework lying in the ground next to her. He had only just managed to convince her that a better method of studying was to pretend that she herself was a teacher, and how he supposes that he would lower himself to the role of student for her benefit. Because not only did he know how to read, but he also absolutely knew about the Dutch East India Trading company. But please, explain it as if he didn’t know.

Admittedly, the delay in helping her study was irritating him slightly. But her pencils were far more convenient than ink and brushes, so he could forgive her for wanting to save herself the effort.

She pulls out a small thin container mutters a soft “thought I lost this.” Before attempting to set it aside. Naraku plucks it from her hand instead, finding this more interesting than watching her rummage around her bag. “It’s eyeshadow.” She answers before he can ask. She hears him fiddle with the cheap latch of the plastic. She turns, ready to give him a teasing jab about how he just has to know every little detail, but she stops herself when she sees his face.

“I’ve never seen a blue this vibrant.” He murmurs, running a thumb over the powder. He stares at it, and then into the tiny mirror that’s glued to the lid. “A vibrancy reserved for human nobility. Markings made with this color would mark anyone as someone strong.” He seems almost hypnotized by it. There’s a sort of longing in his eyes.

Kagome decides to take a risk. “I can teach you how to put it on.” She tells him, and his red eyes flicks over to gaze at her. He stares, and she clarifies further. “It’s not a color I look good in, so there’s no point in me having it.” His brow pinches, and she thinks he’s about to completely reject it, but his eye catches the blue again, and his expression relaxes.

“If you insist.” He says with a dismissive sigh, and she refrains from rolling her eyes. He always sighed like that when he couldn’t admit it was something he wanted.

It’s a simple process, even with the cheap sponge that the makeup came with. It only takes one warning that flinching is going to potentially mess up the process for him to stop, although he stiffens up instead to compensate.

Still, he’s peering at himself in that tiny mirror again, turning his face every which way to try and catch every angle he’ll be seen from.

He’s smiling. It’s a small, subtle thing. But for once, it doesn’t feel like he’s attempting to wield a smirk as a weapon. He looks happy, no more no less. Kagome looks away and schools her expression into something more neutral.

“You can keep it by the way. I don’t need it.” And Naraku scoffs, and there’s the telltale clack of the plastic case being shut. But she sees him tuck it into his sleeve from the corner of her eye. “It suits you.” She tells him, and his eyes become hooded as if he were some pleased cat.

But as fun as this was, she really needed to find that pencil so she could work out those logarithmic formulas.

Ah, thank you thank you! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoy the posts that aren't even for fandoms you are familiar with; makes my multifandom jumble I've got going on here seem more reasonable if people can still appreciate it. And of course I'm also tickled to know it serves as an inspiration in some form.

Now as for that request of yours, we can absolutely do some headcanons for Miroku and Inuyasha! I think this is only my second Inuyasha request? The first being some general CG!Inuyasha headcanons that are over here if you missed them. I really need to work on putting out some more of my own personal regression headcanons for this series (and other series' too, but right now I am LookingTM at Sesshomaru a normal amount with my baby stick on standby for bonking haha).

But no, Miroku is a great candidate for regression imo given his backstory and all! The poor guy lives knowing that his greatest weapon against yokai is actually a curse and will continue to grow until is swallows him up as well. That's gotta eat at the guy (no pun intended). Plus there's the fact that he witnessed his father meet that very end when he was at an impressionable age. Seems like that might lead to some baby time if you ask me! Though I use the term "baby time" loosely, as I think he'd have a fairly wide age range he regresses to on any given day. And while I was writing these he felt very stubborn about regression—and what does every stubborn regressor need? Why, an equally stubborn cg of course! Enter our favorite half-yokai...

So yes! These are a bit looser and don't necessarily follow a linear plot point to explore his regression, but I hope that is okay. Also also I didn't want to limit these to a particular arc or time in the series so these can be applied wherever!

rewatching the inuyasha series as an adult is so funny because. kagome higurashi does not get nearly enough credit for how strong-willed she was at the tender age of 18. she gave up her life in the modern era, easy access to good medical care, food, running water, electricity, and pretty much every other comfort that she'd known and been accustomed to all her life, and did it cheerfully. meanwhile if the roles were reversed and you stuck inuyasha in a modern office job, trying to send (1) polite email would have killed him on the spot.

Remember in Game of Thrones how the hound called Sansa "little bird"? Yeah.

It's insane that we, as a fandom, don't take more advantage of the "Kagome, Kagome, the bird in the cage" thing because Sunrise sure did.

And it's such a nice aesthetic too, like the way it just fits the character perfectly, from her fragility and delicacy to her sunny and adventurous personality.

And there's something so poetic in the symbolism of it all, when you think about her coming of age arc as spreading her wings and flying away from the nest or about the times she felt stuck – wether literally or emotionally – as a caged bird.

I just love it.

I love Mirsan as a ship don’t get me wrong but Sango was really done dirty in Yashahime/the ending.

She’s the second strongest member of the team after inuyasha himself meanwhile Miroku is pretty much a squishy wizard without his strongest magic yet SHE is the one who retires fro demon slaying and NOT him? Like it literally makes no sense outside rigid gender roles! And I can’t even see Miroku being the type of guy to try to enforce that (as if Sango would let him of he tried lmao) he wanted to be a dad more than anything! It woudkve been much more natural to see the reverse of Sango hunting demons with Inuyasha while Miroku retires from combat stays with the kids!

And then there’s the passing of Hiraikotsu and Kirara to Kohaku and then Hisui….those where SANGO’S they where HUGE PARTS of HER character in Inuyasha we see her very deeply connected to both Hiraikotsu and Kirara! It feels so WRONG for those to be taken from her, and fine at least Hiraikotsu is a weapon so if you REALLY want to retire her I guess it makes sense for her to pass it on. But KIRARA that’s her little friend her companion it’s a bond that really can’t be reduced to just usefulness in combat…

those two have been though so much together and they don’t even interact almost at all in Yashahime season 1 despite Kirara being present for so much of it! Not even just occasionally seeing her go back to Sango to spend time with her every so often at least! And heck for “utility” you’re telling me a woman with so many kids in an era before cars WOULDN’T find a huge cat you can load everyone on to to fly around to be a HUGE connivence?

It just gets me so mad….as someone who really loves Sango (and Miroku and Mirsan too!!!) who really wanted to see what they’re up to in the em sequel to see THIS happen. Heck we barely get to see her in season 1 at least (I still have season 2 to watch) despite seeing a good amount of Miroku…I would’ve loved to see them back in action together! And to see how their family life would look based on what would actually make sense for those two characters and not just forcing them to fit tired gender sterotypes they never DID fit in Inuyasha….It’s just : /

Oh not exactly. A Spider for a Stone is a role reversal, with Naraku taking Inuyasha’s place, and Inuyasha taking Naraku’s place.

Inuyasha and Naraku have a fair amount of parallels, so it’s fun to play with the differences. Naraku, especially young and freshly formed would definitely take an interest in learning future subjects (primarily as he used to be a bandit, so here he is getting to partake in things that are usually reserved for nobility. It’s all about boosting his ego and getting satisfaction that he’s able to do things he shouldn’t be allowed to do.)

Naraku is so much more patient then Inuyasha is, so he’s not going to be constantly pushing Kagome to ignore her studies in favor of chasing after the jewel shards. He can’t learn anything if she’s too busy fighting demons after all. If anything, Kagome is going to be the one trying to push him to move faster. He’s trying to set himself up for a long term mastermind plan, but she has to set the fire under him, because she’s not going to spend a decade waiting around for opportunities to show up.

As for shipping, nothing is certain. But I can tell you that Narkag is fairly likely!

Summary: Modern Trivia AU (Collection Here). Kikyo calls to try and get Inuyasha back. Or something. Motive unclear and unimportant.

It was a typical Friday night. Nothing was out of the ordinary and, in fact, everything was going very well but for the fact that Inuyasha's phone had been buzzing non-stop and his already pale skin somehow kept getting paler. His attitude wasn't doing so hot either and honestly, Kagome was starting to second guess a lot of things because if he thought it was okay to treat people-

As she stewed and Inuyasha was in the bathroom for the umpteenth time tonight doing god knows what, Miroku sucked on his teeth and picked up the phone that had started vibrating again.

"Oh wait, it's just a spam call," the man sighed before taking a quick sip of beer and pressing the answer icon, "John's Mule Barn, head jackass speaking. Where can I kick your call?"

Miroku's bemused expression fell immediately and something dark bloomed behind his eyes.

"I'm sorry. No one by that name works here. You must have a wrong number," the hipster replied to whoever it was in a cold tone and then immediately hung up.

"Were they trying to reach Inuyasha about his car's extended warranty?" Kagome joked nervously when Miroku glared down at the phone like he was thinking of smashing it to pieces.

"No, it-" Miroku huffed before grinding his teeth when a different spam number popped up and the phone began vibrating again. This time Kagome was quicker and despite Miroku's panicked attempt to grab it, she managed to keep the phone just out of reach as she answered.

" Hello, City Morgue. You stab 'em we- Kagome giggled before her eyes bugged then darted up to Miroku who looked like he was watching a slow motion train wreck, "Okay. That's nice. So do you have a dead body or not?" Kagome commented slower and in a markedly less amused tone, "Well if you don't-"

Sighing heavily, Kagome lowered the phone when the caller hung up before looking back up at Miroku.

"So...that's a thing. Explains a lot," she cleared her throat and set the phone down, "We need to get him a different phone. She's next level crazy."

Miroku blew out his cheeks and nodded before the phone started buzzing again with yet another spam number. Kagome chewed on her lip for a second before answering.

"Drip drip drop little April showers, beating a tune as you- " Kagome sung in a bubbly tone before pouting and lowering the phone, "Aw, she hung up," it buzzed again and Kagome answered, "Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities. Forget about your worries and your- aw  man, she hung up again."

The pause between calls was longer this time but like clockwork the phone buzzed again and this time Miroku grabbed it. A beat and then he sent Kagome a bemused smirk.

"It's a wonderful day in the neighbor-" 

The phone went dead. Kagome snorted. The pause was even longer this time but the phone did start buzzing yet again. Miroku's smirk turned into a wicked grin.

"Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high. Take a look, it's in a-"

Kagome gestured excitedly and the phone was deposited in her hand and this time answered on speaker.

"My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and they’re like, it’s better than yours. Damn right, it’s better than yours. I can teach you, but I have to -" Kagome sang as quickly as she could and Miroku cackled at the indignant spluttering on the other end.

"What the hell are you two doing?" Inuyasha asked - looking pale and knowing but also amused.

"Trolling your ex-girlfriend," Kagome giggled when the phone went dead before gesturing for Inuyasha to come sit, "We should do a song we can all sing together. Like...like Living on a Prayer."

"S-so the fact that she's been calling me doesn't-" Inuyasha asked hesitantly before blanching when Kagome clapped excitedly when the phone buzzed again.

"Okay. Okay. Living on a Prayer. You two join the end," Kagome breathed before answering with far too much confidence, "Woooaah! We're half way there."

The two men shared a glance when Kagome pointed at them as a cue. For the briefest of seconds, they all stared at each other and then Miroku smirked and leaned forward  while Inuyasha simply stared between them like they'd lost their damn minds.

"Wo-oah. Living on a Prayer! Take my hand and we'll-"

Kagome wiggled happily when the phone went silent.

"Okay, okay, what should we do next?" she asked before grinning at a very confused. very disturbed Inuyasha, "Oh, we should do a duet."

Strangely, though, the phone didn't ring again and Inuyasha was absolutely flabbergasted when Kagome groaned in disappointment.

"Why doesn't this bother you?" Inuyasha asked nervously before clarifying when Kagome quirked one eyebrow, "That my ex-girlfriend is calling me. Doesn't it bother you?"

"Yes and no. I trust you but it pisses me off that she's stalking you. Not cool," Kagome snorted like it was obvious as she reached out and poked the phone with one finger like that would make it do something, "Aw, I was having fun."

"How long has she been calling you like this?" Miroku asked after a heavy moment in which Inuyasha seemed to be questioning his own sanity.

"Just happens every once in a while. Usually once I answer, she goes away again," Inuyasha admitted miserably before catching himself and quickly clarifying, "Not that I'm doing anything. I just-"

"I know you're not," Kagome addressed his fear with a kind smile and Inuyasha died a little in sheer relief.

"Why haven't you changed your number?" Miroku huffed in frustration, "We talked about this. I thought you changed your number."

"What made you think I did that? Did I ever give you a new number?" Inuyasha clipped defensively. Miroku blushed a little and nodded like he would admit the answer was indeed obvious.

"Well we'll change it tomorrow," Kagome offered with a slightly dejected sigh, "Know what we should do after this though? Karaoke. That'd be fun."

They did indeed go to karaoke and it was indeed fun. They did indeed change Inuyasha's number as well but Inuyasha's biggest take away from the whole situation wasn't that he was a moron - although he would admit changing his number would've been the smart thing to do. No, his biggest take away was that Kagome trusted him to the point where she found out his ex-girlfriend was calling him and her response was to laugh in Kikyo's face.  Not only that, Kagome encouraged him to laugh in Kikyo's face and damn if that didn't feel good to take the last of her power over him away. 

For whatever reason, a final broken piece slid into place. From that moment forward, Kikyo no longer bothered him - which was partially due to the fact that she never did get his new number and also because it finally hit him that what she was doing was nothing less than incredibly pathetic. That realization was life changing. Gone was the anxiety when a call marked spam popped up on his new phone. He could ignore the telemarketing bastards confidently and in peace. Or he could answer them with his girlfriend and they could sing the poor bastards a random duet.

Day 3 - Role Reversal

Kagome's never had ice cream before, so she manages to convince Inuyasha to get some for her in his time. Unfortunately, she keeps moving so fast her hat keeps falling off.

He's panicking both bc he's taking the pretty half-demon girl out for ice cream... and her ears are out XD
