kagome is a caregiver for inuyasha (and sometimes koga at first, but koga and inuyasha throw tantrums around each other a bit too frequently for kagome)

miroku, sango and kagome are all flips. inuyasha is a regressor. sesshomaru is a caregiver. koga is a flip too, ayame is a flip babysitter.

kagome might also be a kitten regressor imo

shippo likes it when the others regress to ages younger than him because he likes to feel like a big brother

sango normally regresses to before everything happened with naraku

sango will help kagome take baths and miroku will help inuyasha

whenever kagome visits home inuyasha likes to sneak in a bubble bath

Okay so personally, I feel like Inuyasha is a flip with a regressor lean and Kagome is his cg !!

He has a short temper and throws tantrums often but feels bad for making a fuss for Kagome

He needs reassurance often, he needs to know that what he’s feeling is okay and how he is handling his feelings is okay

he loves to explore and point out different animals to Kagome.

OMG HE LOVES GOING TO MODERN TIMES WHILE REGRESSED.

he loves to color and watch cartoons, especially loves teathers bc he chews on sticks in his era.

he loves being told he did a good job after coloring.

now as a cg i feel like he is strict but so gental about it.

Regressor!Miroku Headcanons

(with cg!Inuyasha)

Despite being a fairly perceptive person, Miroku is largely unaware of his own regression. Although perception does not necessarily equate to introspection of oneself, it still seems like he should have noticed this aspect of himself. This oversight can be chalked up to the fact that he has a lot going on, to put it mildly—forget trying to navigate the typical struggles that come with entering adulthood, no, he has to worry about finding Naraku and destroying him in order to get rid of the Kazaana unless he wants to be swallowed up by it (like his father before him, and his father's father). So it's understandable that he may have overlooked some things (or more accurately, ignored), like the dislocated, heady feeling that sometimes overcame him late at night when he closed himself away in whatever accommodations he had managed to secure for the evening. And even when he did acknowledge it, it was easy enough to brush off as something he was more familiar with and had a word for. Like fatigue. Surely it was only fatigue? The constant traveling, performing exorcisms, and doing palm readings and the like having caught up to him, as well as the ever-mounting pressure of time—running out of time—looming over him. But the swimmy feeling wasn't unpleasant, instead being quite the opposite. It made things easier, and so Miroku didn't have to acknowledge it. He wouldn't. Though this becomes something of an issue when he picks up some traveling companions (or rather, they pick him up) and they take notice of the occasional odd behavior; it's difficult to hide things when they are constantly in close proximity of one another. And while neither Kagome nor Sango push the issue, Inuyasha is a lot more stubborn.

This stubbornness is borne out of the belief that he's right, of course. Inuyasha can't exactly blame the rest of their group for not noticing—Sango and Kagome are only humans, after all, and Shippo is, well...Shippo, so of course he didn't notice either. Although he comes closer than the other two, not exactly noticing the way Miroku seems to almost be indulging himself when playing with the young yokai. And it could easily enough be explained away that he's just good with kids—an explanation that Miroku uses like a crutch when Sango mentions how good he is with Shippo—but there's more to it. Inuyasha can tell there's more to it, because the way Miroku smells changes. In fact, it was that subtle change that first tipped him off to the fact that Miroku regresses; Inuyasha might have bought the ready-made excuse if not for the fact that his yokai senses were telling him otherwise. While it's pretty typical for a human's emotional state to be picked up by a yokai, it's also typical that it fluctuates. It doesn't help that humans can't mask this like yokai can nor can they detect it themselves. But Miroku smells like a baby a lot more often than other people he's been around, and Inuyasha starts to get very protective without realizing it. He pushes, Miroku pushes back, the two butt heads about it, until finally everything bubbles over when Miroku gets sick from using the Kazaana to swallow up the nasty miasma Naraku so often liked to use against them. It's happened before, but this time he drops hard and he isn't even sure why that is. All Miroku knows is that it hurts and he wants to be held. His thoughts are a lot more jumbled than when this usually happens, his head a lot more fuzzy...although that could be attributed to the soft white hair he's crying into as he's held protectively against a familiar chest. And really, it's hard for Miroku to deny this isn't something he needs after clinging to Inuyasha like his life depended on it.

His regression being acknowledged (and assigned a proper term, thanks to Kagome and her modern understanding of what he's been experiencing) does not make things any easier on him. Miroku doesn't want to be so small, doesn't have the time. And it's frustrating when he finds that he suddenly has a caregiver (another term from Kagome, this time for Inuyasha), especially one that often knows just how small he's feeling. They all figure out fairly quickly that Miroku has what Kagome called a wider age range, roughly estimating that he falls anywhere from baby to about twelve. This might have been okay in his opinion (embarrassing, sure, but okay) if he stayed on the twelve end of things. More often than not however, Miroku slips dangerously small given what their escapades on a daily basis usually consist of. A reality that isn't helped by the fact that Inuyasha has decided he's his pup now. The way the half-yokai will essentially just lift him up whenever he feels like with a dismissive What? Fussy pups get scruffed, an' you've been whinin' all morning should not make Miroku feel so cared for and yet...it's nice. Not that he would admit it, though the way he melts into Inuyasha's hold and is soothed by the bouncing is quite telling in and of itself. But Miroku can't even remember a time when he wasn't preparing to face Naraku and get rid of the curse held in his palm. So much of his actual childhood was overshadowed by his father trying to do the very same, with his father's efforts to get rid of the Kazaana so it wouldn't be passed along to his son resulting in a lot of emotional neglect. For Inuyasha to be so perceptive of his emotional state and to make the big decisions for him, if only for a little while, in all honesty felt like a great relief. Not only does it come as a great relief, but the feeling of care and safety the yokai provided starts to push him smaller than he might have otherwise let himself be.

Despite Inuyasha seemingly being a mind reader (a regression reader?), the whole group makes efforts at getting Miroku to regress in a more healthy way, rather than just relying on Inuyasha to decide when he's done enough time being a big boy for the day. Even if he can accurately know those things, Miroku needs to slip occasionally under more positive circumstances rather than because he pushed himself too far again. There's more gentleness shared between them all even if at first their efforts are directed moreso at Miroku. Little things that are actually big things, like checking in to make sure he is feeling okay or helping him with tasks that he's done alone a million times. Though it takes a lot less encouragement to get him to regress than any of them could have expected however, because suddenly it's like the floodgates have been opened as he comes to accept his regression. To be told that it is okay, that he isn't running out of time because they're in this together. To be promised by Inuyasha that he will personally make sure Naraku is defeated and the Kazaana removed. To be reassured that he is allowed to be small. It finally brings him some much needed relief, and with that relief he is able to properly seek the comfort he needs for the first time in his life. Suddenly they're faced with the fact that Miroku middlespaces a lot given that he finally has a support system, and regresses much more regularly whenever they have downtime. Regressing at night certainly keeps him from being so fussy the next morning too, though Inuyasha will still find an excuse to scoop him up so he can nap a little before they stop for lunch.

With an increased positive association with regression comes some new activities. Not that his association with negative emotions was inherently wrong, of course; those negative emotions when he was feeling small only really saw him experiencing one end of the regression spectrum, and with that meant he was only really doing more low-energy or self-soothing activities. But now that his regression has opened up to other emotions, it turns out Miroku is a very high energy kid! Sort of like he hasn't gotten to play outside in a really really long time because it was raining, and so he has a ton of pent up energy—so much so that it's difficult for anyone to keep up with him, with Inuyasha being the exception. Miroku bounces from one game to the next with reckless abandon, absolutely delighting in the fact that he's free to play and has someone playing with him. However it becomes clear to Inuyasha that Miroku is missing something. Something that was a part of even his own childhood experience: toys, and by extension, comfort items. Inuyasha can recall cherishing the few toys he had as a child and with that thought in mind, sets out on a little excursion to find a nearby village where he might be able to secure a few things. It's only a day trip, though Miroku gets restless back at their camp. But the wait is worth it when Inuyasha returns and with a smug grin spreads out what he managed to scrounge up: a simple ball, a spinning top, and a soft blanket. He starts to say he wants to try and get Miroku a few other things, but doesn't get to finish before the boy is practically tackling him in a hug. His haul might have been small, but Miroku is impressed nonetheless and almost immediately gravitates towards the blanket despite it not being naptime.

Some of Inuyasha's caregiving habits don't always make sense to Miroku, no matter if he's big or small—there are just some things that have to be written off as yokai instincts. Specifically as dog yokai instincts. Like getting scruffed; he has grown more than accustomed to getting picked up at the drop of a hat. He's in trouble? Scruffed. He's getting a little too rambunctious? Also scruffed. Then there's the fact that Inuyasha will quite literally growl at people that he doesn't trust getting too close to the baby. Somewhat embarrassing as Miroku is (mostly) big whenever that happens, but he gets it. What he doesn't get though is the fact that he gets sat down and groomed at the end of the day. It doesn't matter if he's clean or dirty, doesn't matter how recently he's had a bath or brushed his hair, he's getting tugged down into Inuyasha's lap. And while he doesn't fully understand why it's something he (seemingly) has to have done every day, Miroku doesn't find it uncomfortable, nor is it fully unwanted either. Quite the opposite, in fact! The claws finger-combing his hair and lightly scratching at his scalp feel so nice, not to mention that the act itself is so attentive. It's not something Miroku would have ever guessed Inuyasha would do for him, nor would he have guessed just how easily it lulls him to sleep. (And, should he think about it, he might come to realize that perhaps that's exactly why Inuyasha does it.)

While Miroku tries to stay big on nights with a full moon after learning about Inuyasha's secret, he can't always manage it. It's a scary thing! Even if he were to keep himself from regressing, he would be worried sick despite the fact that Sango and Kagome are helping keep watch too—as it stands, it is that anxiety that something might happen while Inuyasha is so vulnerable that ultimately causes him to slip. However, this does not stop him from helping to protect him. Or trying to, at least in his own way. Baby Miroku is a little on the clingy side, and figures that if the girls are watching their camp's perimeter then he is going to be the one to keep a close eye on Inuyasha. Naturally this "protection" takes the form of cuddling up to him for the entire night so they can both get some rest. It's what Inuyasha does for him when he's feeling icky, and as far as Miroku understands when he's small like this, his cg feels very icky yucky when the moon is full. It's very much the manifestation of that little kid mentality that believes everyone should get as much help and the same kind of help as they do! And so he occupies a soft toddlerspace as he tucks Inuyasha in with his blanket before gently petting over the jet black locks that only a few hours ago were as silver as the moonlight now bathing them. Miroku wastes no time moving to cling to him, with tiny murmurs of s'okay being whispered while he settles in beside him. For his part, Inuyasha is quite touched by this—the emotional response of course being blamed on his temporary, fully human state—and finds himself hugging onto Miroku equally as tightly as he drifts off to sleep. They won't discuss it the next morning, or ever, because the gesture itself is more than enough.

1. What ship were you completely obsessed with when you were a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?

Looking back, probably any of my favorite ships from Rurouni Kenshin (for obvious reasons). I distinctly remember being very obsessed with Aoshi/Misao and Saitou/Sanosuke

Other than that, my many favorite ships from teen-ager-times still have a place in my heart, and if I'm struggling for something to read, I'll still peek in on their ao3 pages :)

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Something from InuYasha probably. Sango/Miroku? Sango/Kagome? Sesshomaru/Rin? Or maybe something from Pirates of the Caribbean like Norrington/Elizabeth or Jack/Will. The thing about "shipping" is that I would absolutely love fictional relationships, but never really "fandomized" about them until I was a teenager, so I can't really say what my first real ship was, just because there were always movies and books I was reading and thinking "Wow! I wish I could see more of these two!" (Athos and D'Artagnan for instance, or Legolas and Gimli) but I was so young that romance didn't really exist for me, it was more about the dynamics

3. Your first fanfic was about which couple?

The first fanfic I ever wrote? No idea. I would be writing all sorts of horribly grammatically incorrect little scenarios in my first (very ancient) computer's notes program - and I can't even remember which of them I published on ff.net. But it was probably something InuYasha - probably just the canon pairings.

The first fanfic I ever read was SasuNaru: it was published on DeviantArt of all places, written like a filler beach episode and I remember thinking it sounded really nice to be eating watermelon on the beach together.

4. Do you remember the first couple you saw fanart of?

Not even the foggiest idea.

5. Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?

Maybe? I advocate for the "ship and let ship" lifestyle and I've had people getting annoyed with me for that, complaining that what I was shipping was not canon or disrespectful to the author (once in the discord FOR lovers of that ship, mind you!)

6. Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?

My rule is never say never. There are some pairings I've never seen well done, but if I do see something good, I'll be converted.

7. Who were the couple in the last fanfic you read?

8. Currently, do you have any OTPs?

See, as a multi-shipper, it's hard for me to have an OTP at all. Like ever. If I like a character, I'm interested in their dynamic with lots of different characters. And even with crack pairs, if I see a beautiful fanart or a well-written fic, or even someone explaining the pair in a way that clicks for me, I'm down.

9. Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting together?

Not really. Canon is canon, fandom is fandom. There are a few that I've thought it would be nice if they got together onscreen/on the page but never got angry if they didn't.

10. Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they are kind of interesting?

Among many, I would say probably XueXiao. I was absolutely shocked that they got shipped at all - but then I re-read the novel and was like: "Oh. No, yeah, I get it now." Like, I'm not obsessed or anything, but I am compelled by it.

11. Do you have any ship that, in the past, would've been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

Everything I have ever shipped in the history of ever, you mean? I love a good age-gap, or an enemies-to-lovers, or some power dynamic play, or even some angsty incest stories, or vicious hatefucking, or dub-con, or---

...You get the idea.

12. What is your favorite crack ship?

Unfortunately, I can't answer the question due to at least half of my ships being crackships. They are from completely different media? Check. They are from the same media but have never once interacted? Check. They have excellent chemistry and a fantastic dynamic but are very unpopular in fandom for whatever reason? Check.

13. What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

It comes in waves. Sometimes I'm in a sci-fi alien romance mood so I'll head over the Star Trek and B5 route (and read the same G'Kar/Londo fics or Kirk/Spock fics over and over again and cry myself to sleep.) Sometimes my friend writes something for a pairing I've completely forgotten about and I suddenly have to re-read everything they've ever written. Sometimes, I get into a piece of media and have to trawl ao3 for EVERYTHING (within certain parameters) of a certain pair that caught my eye.

14. What do most of your ships usually have in common?

Chemistry. Some kind of ability to constantly bounce off of one another - a constant give and take of meaning and expression.

Unless they can talk with/at each other for hours until they run out of breath and pass out, I'm not as interested. There needs to be banter, no matter if light-hearted or with deeper undertones. They just need to be able to talk to each other, even if most of the conversation is clever obfuscation of what they really mean.

15. What you absolutely hate in a ship?

Anything boring tbh. Oh, they're high-schoolers who are childhood friends and now they're holding hands and blushing? I don't care. Oh, they're planning a seaside wedding and nothing bad has ever happened, ever, and they love one another peacefully? YAWN. Oh, they're sitting down and having a talk about their feelings that sounds like it's come out of a the most recent therapy how-to booklet? Kill me immediately.

Give me adventure! Conflict! Chaos! Even just petty issues! PLEASE! I need these people to be doing something!

Inuyasha and Kagome are hypnotized by them, and upon drinking from one, they are turned into children, with Kagome losing all her memories and Inuyasha only part of it. What will the others do now they have to take care of their two friends as well as protecting the final Shikon shard?

Hey everyone! Since my account has been gaining more followers and attention lately, I've decided to make a quick introduction about myself and the content I'll be providing on this account.

First things first, my names Kiki! I've been on Tumblr for a LONG time, so I have a lot of experience interacting with different communities. I'm 18+, I won't be stating my exact age since I'm not comfortable with it, but I am not a minor. I am female and I prefer going by she/her pronouns and occasionally, they/them. As you probably expected, I am an artist and I LOVE drawing agere content. It's the whole reason that I decided to put this account together. Honestly, when I first started off, I didn't think this account would get a lot of attention, but I'm so happy that you guys enjoy my content! Do you accept commissions? A: Yes, I do! Just message me about it and I'd be happy to accept your commissions. I've actually been putting together an age regression commission page, but It's still in progress. I use Paypal and Cashapp!

Will you draw (blank) fandom? A: Yes. I'm never picky about what my followers might want me to draw (unless it's generally problematic/gross) but otherwise, I won't object! Just tell me what fandom and character you'd like me to draw and I'll do it.

Will you make me free art? A: The most that I tend to do on this account is that occasionally, I might do drawing requests! Just silly doodles of what people want depending on my mood, but to answer this question more directly, no. I don't do free art requests, but my commissions are always open.

Do you draw NSFW? A: No, absolutely not! This account is strictly SFW. I won't be dabbling in anything inherently sexual on this account. If you attempt to ask for anything NSFW, I'll likely delete our chat or block you from my account. Please just don't do it.

Do you accept art trades/collabs? A: No, unless we're mutuals, it's very unlikely I'll be accepting any offers like that. It's nothing personal, I'm just not comfortable doing it with strangers.

It’s interesting to me that in addition to attempts (by a minority) to change the series start date of 1996 to the 2000s (more on that in another post), people are now also trying to say that Inuyasha is not 200+ years old. And the main reason why I see them doing it is because it’s a popular response now to “Well, what about Inuyasha being shipped with Kagome, a 15 year old?” So now Inuyasha can’t be 200+ anymore, he has to be 15 in human years, even though he was always around 15 mentally despite being 200+ years old (that’s never changed). Technically, that’s not even right. Inuyasha was pinned to a tree for 50 years so he’d be at least 75.

Instead of just pointing out that Inuyasha and Kagome are the same age mentally, now people on all sides of the issue are just deciding that facts are what they make them so they can support their position. I’m not even just talking about Inuyasha’s age because his age was never confirmed in the original manga or show that I know of. I’ve just come across posts and other comments on tumblr right now that state no one shipped Inuyasha with Kagome while she was 15 and that she was only shipped with Inuyasha post her return to the feudal era. I nearly had a stroke. Really, my brain stopped working for like five seconds. Is that really how far people are willing to go?

I don’t personally know where the information about Inuyasha’s age came from before, just like I don’t know why it’s assumed Sesshomaru is 900+ (personally I doubt that he is). But it has been the long-held belief that Inuyasha was around 150 when he met Kikyo and then he spent 50 years pinned to the tree making him about 200 years old. Mentally and physically, he looks to be 15 just like it’s said that Sesshomaru is 19 years old and Koga has said to have the appearance of a 15 year old or an 18 year old (depending on where you’re getting the information).

There is nothing that I know of in the manga or anime that states he’s 200+ years old, just that we know he’s been pinned to the Sacred Tree for 50 years making him at least 50+ years old. It has been vaguely implied that he’s much older. Inuyasha said his mother died a long time and that could just mean it feels like a long time ago if she died while he was still a young child, or Inuyasha aged more slowly than humans and so by the time his mother died he was still young. Considering that after 50 years he looks the same as he did when he was pinned to the tree, I’m more inclined to believe he’s a slow ager and it really has been a long time. There’s also the arc in the anime with all the commentary on Sesshomaru being miffed about how Inuyasha could not help with the fight against the panther demons because he had been pinned to the tree, along with their initial battle over Tessaiga, all vaguely suggesting that Inuyasha and Sesshomaru have some longer history than a few years. Because that’s all it would have been if Inuyasha were only 15 years old before being pinned to the tree; we see him running in a forest as a child, presumably when his mother died, and he’s alone. He was possibly 8, 9, maybe 10 (he’s not a tall guy). But, we could always throw that out and forget the panther arc because that was filler. There’s always the issue of people talking about Toga as though it has been a long time since he was alive, and so it certainly feels like it could have been centuries since he was alive just like it feels as though Inuyasha and Sesshomaru have a long history with each other. But that’s still not confirmation obviously.

So, with seemingly no confirmation in the manga or anime, it must have been left to Rumiko or someone to suggest ages for Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. They had to come from somewhere and had some basis. I don’t personally know if Rumiko herself came up with those numbers. Honestly, even if she did, it’s kind of like a Dumbledore being gay situation all over. Just because J.K. Rowling decided Dumbledore could be gay doesn’t excuse it not being explicitly stated or shown. Prior to the Fantastic Beasts series, it was just implied as a possibility at best. Now, with Yashahime, they are going with Inuyasha being 200+ years old and have confirmed that in the actual show. Whether you want to accept the show as canon or not, it was previously held that he was 200+ years old and now we have evidence in the show’s sequel that he is, in fact, that old. It’s not a retcon per se if they confirm what we already believed. If Rumiko stated that Sesshomaru was 900+ and then Sunrise decides upon an age for Sesshomaru that’s younger than that, we could say that’s a retcon. Technically, none of their ages aside from Kagome are confirmed in the show, but you could still say it’s a retcon I guess if it goes against something the creator stated (even if the creator didn’t put it in the show, which I have a problem with personally).

I find it very transparent to shift things on a dime so that you can bolster your argument. Take for example, my personal theory that Sesshomaru is closer to 500 years old than 900 or 1,000. I think we’ve been given some information that supports this theory and it would make sense to me personally. Does that change anything with the Sesshomaru/Rin dynamic? No, not really. So my saying I think he’s actually 500 instead of 900 can’t be used to support an argument that ‘well, Sesshomaru’s actually younger in demon years, and well, 500 years old isn’t as old as 1,000 in demon years’. That would be a stupid argument. We already know from Inuyasha that at 200 years old you at least have the maturity of someone around the age of 15. Sesshomaru is older than Inuyasha, therefore, he has to have the maturity of someone older than 15. Therefore, anyone who has a problem with the sessrin pairing is still going to have a problem. But apparently it’s popular now to say that Inuyasha was only ever 15 (as in 15 human years) and to also state that he grows at the rate of humans (even though we don’t actually know that for a fact). All to avoid having to discuss their age gap. There is an age gap. If it wasn’t confirmed before, HNY has confirmed it now.

Technically, the InuKag age gap is not the same as the sessrin age gap because while Inuyasha may be 200+ years old, he’s mentally 15 and Kagome is also 15. So anyone who has a problem with sessrin because Rin was still a child when they met doesn’t need to try and change Inuyasha’s age. If we’re talking about mental age and maturity of the characters upon their meeting, these two age gaps are apples and oranges.

Oo a very big group, very fun! This one took me a minute of pondering, but I think I got it. 🌙

The concept of Halloween as we know it is definitely a more modern one—which is exactly why it's Kagome that suggests they all dress up, and she even brings back costumes from her time for them so that they can have their own little Halloween party! Since she is coordinating the whole thing, she decides to go with costumes from Winnie the Pooh because she's been reading the books to Miroku (ever since picking them up for him on her last trip back to the future). And as for who is who from The Hundred Acre Wood, it's pretty clear to Kagome who should be what character: naturally she is Kanga, Inuyasha is Pooh, Shippo is Piglet, Sango is Tigger, and Miroku is Roo!
