Акио кажется слишком гордым и недоступным, но на самом деле он очень романтичный, мечтательный и довольно легко смущается.

Гюнтер - это хорни-трикстер, который прячет эту свою сторону за агрессивной отчужденностью и замкнутостью. Ну или он просто показывает эту часть характера только Акио.

Сюжет: Акио долгое время чувствовал за собой слежку и в один вечер стал жертвой убийцы. Вернувшись в прошлое, он сразу же уезжает в семейный дом, а также нанимает детектива для расследования, кто может хотеть причинить вред ему или его семье. Чего Акио не знает - так это того, что Гюнтер - нанятый детектив - также является его сталкером...

And please note that I know very little about how the school system in Japan works. The event they are attending in this fic is based on an American public school concept of Meet the Teacher/Open House where parents can see what their kids are doing in the classroom and talk with their teachers. I don’t know if they do this in Japan. Roll with it lol

Sesshomaru straightened his shoulders and walked forward with intention, his stride sure, his purpose strong, mind set to the task before him.

Meet the teacher.

A very strange, very modern concept, if you asked him, but he had been told was of the utmost importance, even if he didn’t really “get it.”

When he’d been a pup his tutors showed up to his castle home and took turns in the lesson room teaching him all of the things it had been decided he would need to know as future ruler of the land, supplemented by a rigorous training regimen.

It was how his older children had learned as well, though thanks to Kagome’s knowledge of the future, they weren’t training to be rulers, so their educational topics had been much more varied.

Things had certainly changed.

He watched their youngest son walk solemnly through the grey hallway, the walls plastered with finger-paintings, scribbly drawings, angular cut outs and messy attempts at penmanship.

It was very foreign to him, what children were taught now, but his son seemed to love going every day.

He remembered hating having to sit through lessons and tutoring sessions.

Kagome’s eyes darted all around as she took everything in.

He’d been very surprised how nervous she’d been for him to start school earlier that season. He was their 8th child, after all, and she’d already watched the others learn and grow and go into the world, but she was antsy now to meet his teacher and see what he’d been doing in class.

He kind of found the whole thing rather silly, if he was honest, but his son was proud and it meant something to his wife, so here he was.

The door to the classroom they needed to go into was plastered with a giant paper daisy with all the students names, one to a petal, which Kagome cooed over, and when they entered, the teacher lit up in greeting, sweeping over to ruffle his son’s white hair.

He tensed for a moment, but the cloaking spell seemed to be doing its job as she hadn’t felt the soft puppy ears it was hiding on the top of his head.

She introduced herself, told them what a joy their son was, and showed them around the displays of artwork and worksheets.

All was well until they got to a set of assignments done specifically for the parents coming that night, a cute, handwritten list of each student’s favorite thing about their guardians, covered in stickers and glitter and glue.

On his son’s, he loved his mother’s smile, her smell, the way she cooked his favorite food, the way she told stories. For his father he loved-

He quickly covered the boy’s mouth, his eyes blowing wide as he looked from his son to the paper hanging on the wall, the handwriting shaky but large.

Kagome covered her own mouth to stifle a laugh, and the teacher blushed a bright red.

“I tried to gently encourage him to write something else, but I’m afraid he heard some of his classmates talking about the tattoos their parents have, and he would not be outdone by them. He insisted on keeping it.”

He glared down into big blue eyes blinking innocently up at him and sighed, kneeling in front of the small boy and placed firm hands on his shoulders.

“Akio, some things are secret.”

“But dad, you said our heritage is nothing to be ashamed of.”

“Shame and secrecy are not synonymous.”

“Synonoomis?” He asked, tilting his head in that adorable way that always made Kagome squeal.

“It means ‘the same.’”

“Not symnominus. Not the same. Shame and secrecy are not the same.”

His little brow furrowed and he looked at the ground as he processed, and Sesshomaru felt his face soften.

“Very good son.”

“It’s very common for children his age to not understand personal boundaries. You wouldn’t believe some of the things I hear from my students! Tattoos in very private areas don’t even make the list I’m afraid!” His teacher added, expertly soothing over the tension as she pulled out a small sculpture of a dog Akio had made with bright green clay, one with a crudely carved crescent moon on his brow.

With a small grin of pride, Sesshomaru placed his hand atop his smallest pup’s head, eyes glowing when a pleased blush bloomed on his rounded cheeks.

His son was proud of where he came from, proud of the inu blood that flowed through his veins, even if it no longer came with titles and expectations.

His way of showing it was, perhaps, a little embarrassing.

But he wouldn’t fault him for that.

Catatan “Konsul” Sama Bunda

Kemarin gue balik karena keponakan gue disunat dan kakak gue nikah untuk yg ke-2 kalinya. Seminggu di rumah. Dari sebelum acara sampe sesudah, gue tuh jadi tukang kemana-mana karena duitnya gue yg disuruh pegang. Jadi ya, sekalian disuruh-suruh juga. HAHAHA . Terus capenya masih ada sampe sekarang. Gue merasa pilihan yg tepat gue milih balik sabtu, karena kalau jumat kok kayaknya gue terlalu jahat sama mama gue, baru kelar acara udah ditinggal balik. Jadi sabtu sekalian bantu beberes yg gue mau dan de-cluttering sekalian. Mamak gue, orang-orang di rumah gue itu demen banget nimbun barang yg kayaknya udah nggak dia pake cuma karena alasan masih bagus atau dulu kan aku yg beliin, atau mahal. dll. 

Singkat ceritanya lagi. Gue baru tau kalau budenya kakak iparku itu adalah psikolog. sekarang lagi ambil psikolog-spiritual (eh gitu deh pokoknya) di malaysia. Tapi ya gitu, kelasnya online. Pas gue tanya kenapa kok beliau ambil itu, karena beliau mau ngebantu orang biar sembuh sampe ke “lapisan paling dalam.” 

Malam pas gue baru dateng sampe rumah, udah kumpul buat bagi bagi tugas. Dan malam itu juga Bunda (kita nyebut beliau seperti itu) dateng ke ibuku. Ngobrol ina inu dan manggil gue karena biar kenal. Karena anaknya juga ambil psikologi di uii, gue buka obrolan masalah terapi yg di kasih sama psikolog. Terus gue akhirnya ditanya bunda, kok bisa tau. Gue jawab kalau gue “objek penelitian” di kampus. 

Malemnya gue merasa bersalah. Kenapa gue berbohong. Tapi saat itu ada ibu gue. Jadi menurut gue, baiknya gue bohong aja. Pas akio sunat, bunda dateng. Gue bilang kalau gue minta maaf malam itu gue bohong. Gue mengakui kalau gue adalah pasien. Sekarang ditangani psikolog (kalau gue lagi butuh) dan psikiater. 

Tanggal 3 gue ke rumah bunda karena di tawarin buat ketemu dulu sebelum balik solo. Gue sempat mikir berkali-kali, “ini bener nggak ya? walaupun bunda psikolog kan udah jadi besan. nanti jadi ketauan keluargaku kaya apa.” Tapi di sisi lain emang udah janjian juga. 

Pendekatan yang bunda lakukan ke gue tuh rasanya beda. Bunda nyuruh gue cerita. intervensi apa yang udah gue terima dari psikolog sama psikiater yg mana psikiater jelas gue dikasih obat. Gue cerita yang gue mulai dari tahun lalu pas ka djohan pisah sama gue. Perasaan gue, apa yg terjadi sama gue kala itu, gue ceritain juga. Alurnya berasa campuran. Lebih banyak mundurnya. 

Bunda menerangkan ke gue terkait teorinya dulu. Yang mana ini nggak di jelasin sama psikolog gue. CMIIW karena gue tau disini ada anak psikologi yang berteman sama tumblr ini, kalau siapa tau baca tulisan ini. 

Diri kita tuh, ada beberapa lapisan. Lapisan pertama adalah apa yang tampak dari luar. Lapisan ke 2 adalah otak yang nyambung ke perasaan. Lapisan ke 3 itu jiwa, lapisan ke 4 itu batin, dan lapisan ke-5 adalah roh. Beliau menjelaskan ke gue kalau kerja otak tuh nggak bisa berhenti. Perasaan pun sama karena mereka saling berkaitan satu sama lain. Waktu kita lagi stres, amburadul, kepalanya nggak bisa fokus, itu tuh semacam file folder kita lagi berantakan. Jadi otak akan bekerja buat berusaha memasukkan mereka ke folder-folder yang tepat. Makanya, kenapa kok gue disuruh istirahat sama dokter gue dengan dikasih obat yg bikin gue ngantuk apalagi kalau gue ada kepikiran buat self harm, karena istirahat, me time, akan bikin kerja otak kita tuh nggak cepet, jadi lebih slow, jadi nggak ruwet, jadi otak bisa masukin apa yg ada di kepala kita ke folder folder yang sesuai sebagai mana mestinya. 

Bunda juga bilang bahwa, sekalipun yang mengalami ditinggal dengan cara itu adalah “anak baik-baik saja” yang mentalnya nggak rusak sedari kecil, abaikanlah masalah yg menimpa gue sebelum gue ditinggal ka djo, ya pasti akan bingung, kaget. Kok bisa, sedang baik-baik saja terus tiba-tiba orangnya mengenalkan perempuan lain ke ibunya yang sekarang jadinya nikah. Pantes saja, normal aja, kalau hari itu gue tau kabar abis pulang dari rumah ka djo ngobrol sama ibu pulangnya gue nangis sepanjang jalan, ngegas motor tanpa mikir panjang.

Pas gue cerita, bunda nulis. Nggak begitu banyak. Cuma poin poin tertentu yang beliau tangkap dari omongan gue. Beliau bilang logika gue bagus. Gue tanya, kok bisa? maksudnya apa? sedangkan gue sedari dulu selalu dibilang baperan. Karena gue sudah survive sampe sekarang. Entah apa yang dilakukan sejak dulu sampe sekarang buat bertahan, itu berarti logikanya masih oke, masih bisa berpikir, logikanya bagus. Belum lagi memang lingkungan yang sedikit membantu gue buat survive, itu udah cukup baik. Bukan berarti mereka yang mengakhiri hidupnya, logikanya buruk, tapi kita nggak tau seberapa beratnya yang ditanggung makanya sampe kaya gitu. Dan ini bukan kapasitas gue untuk menuliskan ini lebih lanjut terkait logika orang yg bunuh diri, karena kemarin pun nggak di bahas. 

Positifnya gue itu, sisanya banyak yang negatif. Jadi gue perlu merekonstruksi pikiran gue. Merekonstruksi kognitif gue. Membenahi pikiran-pikiran negatif gue soal takut nikah, gue nggak worth, gue yang tidak cukup bagus untuk di jadikan pasangan dll. Membenahi pikiran gue pada semua aspek yang negatif, kaya persepsi, konsep, pola pikir, dll.

Bunda bilang, “Tuhan tuh menciptakan manusia sebaik-baiknya lho. Kalau kamu selalu melihat dirimu sendiri tuh banyak kurangnya, nggak cantik, kamu nggak bersyukur dong sama Tuhan? Pun mereka yang dengan seenaknya aja ngebully, body shaming, pikiran mereka yang salah. Nggak lurus. Sudah ya, kamu cantik kok. Semua orang cantik. Dan kamu harus melihat dirimu seperti itu juga. Mulai di benerin lagi ya caranya ngelihat diri sendiri.” 

Bunda bahas hal itu dari segi kognitif gue dulu. Selain itu gue dibilang buat bikin peta bunga kehidupan untuk istirahat. Bunganya tuh ya mirip yg bocah SD gambar. Bulatan tengah adalah tempatnya kita. Kita yang free. Tempat kita buat istirahat. Kelopak-kelopak bunga (eh apa mahkota bunga? omg ketuan biologi gue jelek) disamping-sampingnya adalah peran kita tuh apa. Misal gue, peran gue itu ya anak, saudara, mahasiswa, pasien, pasangan (kalau di itung juga sama mas wkwk). Terus di urutin dikasih nomer 1 dst, dikasih nomer dari yang dirasa paling berat sampe yang “ringan.” udah gitu dibawah dikasih keterangan. Dikasih nome sesuai yang tadi diurutkan. 

Misal gue  1. Mahasiswa. Terus masalahnya apa, di tulis. sukanya apa di tulis, dukanya apa di tulis.  Gitu terus sampe semua nomernya udah ditulis semua. Terus kalau udah gitu, udah cape, ya gugurkan itu kelopaknya atau kembali lah kita ke bulatan tengah yang mana itu tempat kita. Buat me time, buat istirahat. Dan jangan merasa bersalah kalau kita ambil buat istirahat. 

Yang terakhir gue disuruh sering sholawat dan istighfar. Bahkan bunda pun nambahin catatan terkait hal ini, “jangan dipaksa kalau belum mampu.”

Itu baru segi kognitif gue. Dari segi jiwa belum ke bahas karena waktunya sempit dan bunda mau ngajar jam 1 waktu itu.. Itu pun udah kelewat 20 menit. Gue ditanya rasanya gimana setelah ngobrol. Gue bilang, sejujurnya gue khawatir karena walau bunda psikolog, bunda juga besan keluarga gue. Dan bunda bilang itu gpp. Bahkan harusnya adalah orang terdekat yang nolong gue, bukan dulu orang yg “jauh.” 

Mungkin emang takdirnya gue ketemu bunda dengan cara demikian. Bahkan bunda tanya kapan gue pulang lagi, buat bahas lebih lanjut, tapi gue bilang nggak tau.

Bismillah, yok survive teman-teman. Tapi jangan lupa me time, sama istirahat juga. Jangan dipaksakan.

The voice of a shadow call. It seems far fetched to some until they're called. It's a strong feeling where your shadow- or shadows in my case- end up having an extremely pull you can't break. I found myself trying to figure out where this voice is coming from for a few weeks yet no luck. Mementos has been acting strange when I'm around; shadows aren't hostile at all, some have told me to turn away from reaching where I need to go. That's really all I have still. I'll write more when any resent developments show progress.

The girl closed a writing app on her phone before looking around her. Was she losing her grasp on what world she was in? From all she can tell is the sky is red with black clouds, moths fluttering about in the blue, purple flowers if in a grass area.

"We have to go Chi chi..."

"AGAIN!?" The Shiba Inu piped up.

"I have to find the caller if not I'll decent into more madness..."

"...You know...ever since this all kicked off you've been worrying anyone who looks at you."

"I'm aware yet it's nothing I can't control so I have to do what they need."

"... I'm going with you. I don't want you to end up hurt. Not to mention how many others are running around in that world Rose."

Staria was in the velvet room after Akio wanted a little word with them for a bit. Lucian: "What do you want to know Akio since I did beat neo and Saki and your mum in shattered glass world is this important or not?" they said curiously. Akio responded with "Well you see my Father Igor wanted me to tell you about another place similar to shattered glass world called mementos …" staria cut Akio off you mean the place that Mr Joker uses ?" Akio smiled and said "Yes but you see some girl wanted some help but Joker and the rest are on a different mission so I was thinking if you go through that app and save her and I guess Joker told you about his way of doing things right?" staria responded with "Not exactly since he only came to my academy now and again." Akio: "OK I will ask Igor if I can help you and if yes meet me outside the academy and we can do this together" Staria: "OK Akio".

Kiyoshi: "what shall we do about this crisis Lucian?" Maki Akira followed Kiyoshi's ask with "well then staria we are all waiting for ya" staria smiled and moved to the side to reveal Akio the velvet attendant. everyone is shocked intill Wada Minori spoke and said "Akio how are you after the whole velvet family problems?" Akio smiled and said "I am fine we managed to recover from the shock instead of Igor which explains why I am here to explain the real reason why you heroes are being called for" Akio explain the problem to the group and Tamanhara responded with "Akio do you think saki staraka or neo is doing this ?" Akio: "Don't know yet but you guys up for it here's the app on these spare phones"

the group smiled and Mizuno said "Of course we are ready us heroes is always ready for any situation" Yanagi: "Guys what shall we do since our headmaster Makoto yuki is not alliable as well as our other teachers?" Animalia: "I will stay and make sure everyone is safe while you guys go with Akio" staria: "Are you sure about this Animalia?" Animalia responded with "Yes I am sure about this go and rescue that girl. Akio press the app and the others followed suit while Animalia walks to the Year 2 classroom where the students are.

My wish has been heard loud and clear

Me last month: “Man, I love getting to play as the FF6 cast in Dissidia Opera Omnia.  I know it’s a long shot but I wish they’d add Leo.”

Japanese monthly update announcement this morning:

Me: "... I am hoarding my gems like a dragon for the next year." (okay, I AM splurging on Zack’s EX in August because Zack is best puppy, but I’ve still got time to rebuild)

He's getting released as a story character in Arc 2 Chapter 8 in Japan next month, meaning it's going to be something like May 2020 before we get him in Global, but at least now I can rest assured he's guaranteed to be coming now.

Really digging his design, too, though I'm undecided on the earring.  His original design didn't have it, but it looks good on him, but his whole thing is that he's "proper military" so if he had any piercing it seems like it should be a simple stud.  His original Amano art was... not good, and made him look lobotomized and poorly-fed.  I like that this design filled him out to be more muscular and softened up his eyes, since he's supposed to be, you know, the Nicest Guy on the Whole Damn Planet.  And I'm super happy they made him unambiguously black, which was a slight concern I had due to his original SNES sprite being depicted as white due to not having the memory available to give a secondary character like him a unique color pallet, and the Steam release making his sprite "kinda dark-skinned but eehhh", so I wasn't sure what route DFFOO was going to go with (though with all the other characters who have significant differences between their artwork and their game sprites, they've always gone with the artwork design as a basis).

Curious to find out who's voicing him and what his moveset is going to be like (if he's voiced by Ohtsuka Akio (Inu-papa), I am going to die) and how they're going to characterize him.  They've done pretty good with pretty much everyone else so far, except Kefka, who they made just go off-the-rails wacky instead of keeping him the sadistic man-child he was originally.  Once I get Leo, I intend to take him to an early Kefka story battle and just let Leo smack him around for catharsis.

Explanation: My god’s breed is American Akita which is a American “version” of Japanese Akita Inu (if it doesn’t ring a bell: the most famous dog of this breed is Hachiko) which is bigger and looks slightly different… so I wanted to show Asian roots in the sim’s appearance. 

My dog’s full name is Calm Before The Storm Akio (no kidding: it was not me who named him). “karashi” means “50 storms” which is opposite to his name but I found it accurate.

madoka vs utena!!

Which has the better protagonist: gotta… give it to my girl Utena here!! she drove me nuts sometimes with her cluelessness whereas I feel Madoka’s innocence/naivety was definitely pulled off in a less irritating way BUT there’s something about her that makes me love her a lot anyway… she’s got strong opinions and a lot of personality which is something I love in a protag, whereas I feel Madoka’s personality falls by the wayside a lot

Which has the better villain: Kyubey/the whole incubator thing gets a lot of points from me but like… End of the World/Akio? literally is there a better villain? he’s so manipulative and it’s so satisfying to see him duped… also fuck Touga and Saionji… basically any dudes from Utena, they’re awful so they win this one

Which has the better plot: I think Utena’s was a lot more original tbh, I still haven’t seen anything like it and it’s been around for a long ass time… I love PMMM’s plot but putting a dark twist on the magical girl genre has been done plenty before so I think Utena wins this one also!

Which has better cinematography: listen. listen Utena’s animation and art takes… a lot of getting used to. the movie is definitely better but the anime takes some adjusting to… PMMM however has beautiful animation and Inu Curry’s work trumps like everything for me, so PMMM.

Which one is more fun: DANG they’re both pretty heavy but Utena does throw in some silly episodes every now and again whereas Madoka is just like. suffering 24/7. so I guess Utena?

Which one makes me think the most: THEY BOTH GIVE SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT… honestly I think Utena might make me think more? there’s so much deep characterization to literally every character and there’s a lot of symbolism and metaphors to uncover!

Which do I watch when I want to relax: PMMM simply because I’ve seen it so many times that I know it like… off by heart, whereas Utena has so many subtle hints and characterization that I always wanna pay so much attention

Which do I watch when I want it to consume me: OH NO… honestly they were both like huge interests of mine for a long time so they both consumed me but… I think probably PMMM. Utena is so long that I find it hard to get like properly consumed by until near the end where everything actually… happens

Which is my favorite: I LOVE THEM BOTH SO MUCH… but I think… maybe PMMM? I love Utena so much but I can admit that it can be hard to sit through and it’s super repetitive, so it loses some points there v__v sorry Utena….

My Review of Berserk (2016 - 2017)

THIS NEW STORY: It has been approximately two years since that fateful day when Guts nearly escaped a bloody hell-hole. Since that time, he roams the countryside. With one eye missing and an arm made of metal, he continues on a solo journey. But because of a brand on his neck, he has become a roaming target for demons that lurk in the night. This story of Berserk takes Guts into a whole new set-up with new allies, new enemies, but his attitude remains. Most of the first season is dedicated to finding Casca (who ends up missing), while the second season adds more characters that travel with Guts as they slay random demons. BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: First the sub. Unfortunately, it’s the same cast from the movie trilogy instead of the original cast from the television series. I’ve already made my views pretty clear that I liked the TV series cast better than the movie cast (with the exception of Takahiro Sakurai playing Griffith). For new character purposes, there are many voices I can recognize within seconds (including Mitsuki Saiga and Satomi Arai). Now for licensing purposes, this anime is being streamed by Crunchyroll and will eventually be released by Crunchyroll on Blu-ray and DVD with an English dub. So now Berserk has three licensors for the franchise. The original series is with Media Blasters, the movies are with Viz, and now Crunchyroll has the new series. Never mind…I think FUNimation has its hands in this as well. And with that said, let's talk about the new dub. I didn’t think it was possible, but they just made this shit worse than it possibly could be by replacing the remaining 3 voices with other people. I don’t want to pass judgment on the new voice actors. I honestly think Kaji Tang is okay as Guts. But it’s just a definite kick in the ears when they replaced Guts, Griffith, and Casca’s English voice actors. And seeing as the dubbing company is in L.A. and two of these voice actors are stationed in L.A., this seems really fishy. Especially since they’ve been doing these characters for almost 20 years and just recently did the movie trilogy. With that said, here’s the NEW English cast to Berserk 2016/2017. *Guts is played by Kaji Tang (known for Archer on Fate/stay night: UBW, Tsumugu on Kill la Kill, Kizakura on Danganronpa 3, Kouen on Magi, and Derflinger on Familiar of Zero) *Griffith is played by Steve Staley (known for Hitsugaya on Bleach, Neji on Naruto, Inumuta on Kill la Kill, Moondoggie on Eureka Seven, and Senri on Vampire Knight) *Casca is played by Karen Strassman (known for Takano on Higurashi, Suigintou on Rozen Maiden, Kallen on Code Geass, Anna on Monster, Miyuki on Lucky Star, Sawako on K-ON, and Yasuko on Toradora) OLD CHARACTERS: So it’s been two years since the events of the original series/story. So aside from Guts, where are the other memorable characters? Let’s start with the Band of the Hawk…oh…that’s right, they’re all dead. Except for little Ricket! Little Ricket grew up in 2 years and spends his time as an apprentice for a blacksmith. Princess Charlotte is still missing Griffith and her father is dead. Casca has no memories of her past left and literally has the mind of a child since the day she escaped from the blood-soaked, corpse-filled hell-hole. Griffith…is still a fucking demon! But somehow has acquired his human form back. NEW CHARACTERS: In a tough new world Guts is in with demons and evil spirits looming around, why don’t we add fairies, witches, and Christians? Yeah, why not?! First we have Puck, a fairy that’s there…He’s just there. Isidro is a young boy who takes a shine to Guts after he saved him. But I honestly think he’s just the comic relief of the show. Farnese in the first season was a leader of a prominent group of knights and was heavily religious. But after being saved by Guts on several occasions, Farnese and her right-hand man Serpico wound up traveling with Guts. Schierke is a witch-in-training who ends up helping Guts. And Sonia…I want to say this bitch has some sort of Stockholm Syndrome. She ends up following, helping, and praising Griffith. She's just a complete mystery! With that said, here’s what you might recognize these new characters from. NEW FAVORITE CHARACTER: So in the old Berserk series, I enjoyed Casca very much. But in this series, unfortunately Casca’s memories and mind are just…well, let’s not go there. This time, I found myself liking Luca from the 2016 season. I don’t care that she’s a literal whore. She was faithful to her friends and did what she had to in order to survive. And did her best to protect Casca and even help out Guts. She’s one of the nicest characters out there in a world of uncertainty, demons, and God-fearing dick-wads. SHIPPING: Sighs...Someday dammit! Someday! Schierke x Guts is still cute though... MUSIC: As you know, the original Berserk had one of the best OST’s in anime history (excluding the opening and ending themes). And even those themes were pretty awesome in their own way. Now if there was one thing I was satisfied with watching this abomination, the music was decent. The background music was fitting and definitely a step up from the movie trilogy. As for the opening and ending, I really loved the first opening. The music I mean, the animation can suck it. The first opening shows a 1:30 condensed story to Guts’s time with the Band of the Hawk, while the second opening shows more action with the new cast. The two ending themes were softer than the openings. But if I had to choose my favorite songs, I would pick the 2016 opening, Inferno by 9mm Parabellum Bullet and the 2017 ending, Issai wa Monogatari by Yoshino Nanjo. ANIMATION: So did the animation improve after the movies? Hell no! I don’t condone the animation being so CGI. A lot of the character designs feel very sloppy and lazy to a point where I’d almost compare it to the first season of Sailor Moon Crystal. The animation to this series is somehow WORSE than the movie trilogy (I didn’t think it was possible). It almost makes the series unwatchable. Me personally, I like to see things through to the end, but the animation is just so atrocious that it bugs me how some of the character designs and movements can set off my eyes. For God’s sake, the Playstation games for Berserk have better character design than this fucking anime and that’s a fucking shame! ENDING TO SEASON ONE: For half of the season, Guts has been searching for Casca and every episode he gets close but no girl! Casca has been literally wandering around where she’s cared for by a band of whores, groped by creepies, revered by more creepies, praised, condemned, and eventually captured by bad guys. And let’s not forget that her brain has been reduced to that of an infant's! Casca ends up being kidnapped and is about to be sacrificed because she has a mark (just like Guts) and is somehow immune to being eaten by these demons that consume regular humans. Isidro and Puck were able to save Casca before she could be burned at the stake. And Guts was able to slay his way to where Casca is and take down a few angels. But during this night of hell, demons of all shapes and sizes were coming towards anything remotely human. But thanks to Guts, he was able to take care of them all. And then morning came and there’s one more giant monster to take care of. But that monster has… ...wait...is that Griffith in human form? Well seeing as this is the last episode of the season and the last 5 minutes of the episode, we're not getting any questions answered. Thought so. Okay, onto season two. SEASON TWO: The animation is still giving me eye-cancer. Come on guys, if Sailor Moon Crystal could improve tenfold within nine months, you guys could have improved to a point where the characters don’t look like dead-eyed bowel movements! But I digress! Guts and Casca return back to Ricket and the swordsmith (or lack there of). The old swordsmith died sometime after Guts left. But that moment has passed because guess who returned? Bastard betrayer and dude looks like a lady himself, Griffith! Because Ricket doesn’t know, he’s optimistic of a revival for the Band of the Hawk. But Guts is all, “HELL NO, GRIFFITH MUST DIE!” Griffith even has one of the old monsters (Zod) that Guts fought in the very first season go after and fight Guts. It wasn’t until Griffith and Zod left that Guts told Ricket everything about why he hates Griffith now. That he was the reason all of his comrades are dead and that Casca is in a state of…let’s just call it confusion. And so it’s decided that Guts and Casca will take a trip to wherever the hell Puck (the fairy) came from. Because fairies for whatever reason this story has to continue! However, certain bad things happen at night that cause Guts to act beastly around Casca. A possible side-effect to the brand on his neck, who knows? END OF SEASON TWO: So this 2017 version seemed a little better compared to the previous season in the action department. Guts does get another upgrade in the weaponry department thanks to the Skull Knight (the same one that saved him at the end of the third movie), though this upgrade does come at a price as it does shorten Guts's life-span. But Guts does get the job done when protecting his group from uncertain doom. Well, Guts now has the Berserker…and now part of his hair has a silver streak. And this group got a hot tip that this next town may help Casca regain her brains and she can go back to normal. YAY, my favorite character could go back to normal! How many more episodes to this season? One. But…there could be another season next year, right? Manga author puts Berserk on hiatus until further notice. OH, FUCK ME! And I suppose we’re not going to see any interactions between Guts and Griffith! Didn't think so. So the last episode has them in a new town filled with humans. There’s a meeting between Schierke and Sonia. Then another meeting between Isidro and Wolflame (that turned into a brawl)! So Gut’s comrades meet Griffith’s comrades. And the final episode is just Schierke getting upset at Isidro for saying something but then he apologizes to her by the end. And for a second, we had to worry about Schierke joining Sonia, which would lead her to work with Griffith. But she’s sticking to Guts. And we end with Schierke getting a wardrobe update (since she gets looked down a lot for dressing like a witch). And a promise of this journey continuing! This anime is a fucking mess. While the original Berserk anime left off on a WTF ending, the two seasons that followed were just a mess to sit through. And at the top of the list of complaints, it was the damn animation. I think many of us long for the days of the hand-drawn animes of the 1990s, especially when we get this CGI dump. But I think another thing that set me off was setting us up for something that might be amazing only for the last episode to just give us a middle finger. I think it’s too late to ask for a reboot to this since the reboot to Berserk has shit animation too. But as long as we’re waiting for a continuation, you think the animation could improve…just a bit? I don’t urge anyone to sit through this eye cancer. But if you were a big fan of Berserk, original Berserk and were truly curious of what happens to Guts next, go for it. If you want to watch Berserk…I urge you to find the original series. Please, see it if you can find it. But if you can’t, the movie trilogy is available for purchase from your video retailer and even Youtube has it available for purchase/rent. As for this series in particular, as usual Crunchyroll has all the episodes available (including the two recap episodes). And FUNimation has the dub available for paying subscribers.
